Andromeda s03e11 Episode Script

Delenda Est

the joints in your knees and elbows are showing some calcium buildup.
lungs at full capacity.
heart is good.
oh, gee, thanks, andromeda.
you should have a checkup more often.
is this your subtle way of saying i'm out of shape? yes.
your heavy gravity genes don't make your immune system any less vulnerable.
i get the point.
your eyesight is good, although i have detected some dryness in the right eye.
you can't change the future by living in the past, although it certainly would be nice to have you around.
i wish that were enough.
if it were, you wouldn't be the man i fell in love with.
sara you came back for me.
we had our time together.
andromeda, where did this come from? we had our time together.
you came back for me.
andromeda.
we had our time together.
we had our time together.
we had our time together ah, harper, there you are.
what? explain something to me.
all right.
what are we doing now? lie detection.
i'm monitoring your pulse to see if you're telling the truth.
what, me? would i lie to you about anything? ow! okay, okay.
what? when you assembled me, did you leave in controls that gave you access to me? i don't know what you're talking about.
ow! can you do things to me, or with me, that i don't know about? rommie, how could that ever be possible? i stop it, harper.
no self-hypnosis, or i'll break your hand.
no, look.
no.
i'm not lying.
look.
that's a cat! yeah what the hell? that animal's been extinct for thousands of years.
this can't be good.
lights.
sensors.
andromeda is not responding.
sensors must be out all over the deck.
i got hand illumination over here.
can i? thank you.
it's totally numb, you know.
what the? figures.
well, this really- help! the universe is a dangerous place, but in our future, my crew and i fight to make it safe.
i am dylan hunt, captain of theandromeda ascendant, and these are our adventures.
rommie, help! any time now.
maybe you should keep holding me, in case it kicks in again.
i know i'd feel better so, what the hell was that? well, it wasn't a cat.
we had our time together.
we had our time together.
andromeda, do you copy? we had our time together.
andromeda! we had our time together.
we had our time together.
we had our time together.
this is weird.
we had our time together.
[ door opening .]
dylan, what's going on? why didn't you call for help? andromeda.
dylan? ship wide.
harper, tyr, trance.
meet me in command deck, now.
i don't know, i'm buried in a flexi and suddenly i get a mayday from your quarters.
turn it off.
turn it off! andromeda.
i just saw my child sleeping waiting.
all right, i just about got sucked right into space.
lifted right off my feet by i don't know what.
if it hadn't been for rommie- dylan, i've been tracking some alarming events around our location.
magog attacks on independent drifts, rogue nietzschean prides on the planet huron, and a 53% rise in criminal activity across the suns' nebulae.
then, all activity stopped.
all predators, magog and nietzschean included, went into hiding.
any commonwealth ships in the area? no.
and, finally, this.
three ships have appeared in the system with crew missing.
no sign of foul play.
only one managed to send an emergency message.
on screen.
captain trevor lutanz of the merchant shipneptune.
his message was garbled and nearly unintelligible.
give me what you can.
the only words i could decipher were "nightmare," "terror," and "invisible.
" any similarities in the empty ships? each ship has had its most sophisticated and potent power source removed.
where's rommie? she was right behind me.
andromeda, locate rommie.
there are still five decks missing from my grid.
my avatar is unaccounted for, and there are vacuums of tremendous energy opening and closing all over the ship.
they're after rommie.
tyr, let's go.
beka, you have command.
could it be our invisible friends? i thought we'd taken care them.
well, obviously, they needed better care.
obviously.
i'll tell you what.
i'll take the high road.
you take the low road.
[ growling .]
dylan! help! hold on, tyr! i have a feeling this is going to be a very long day.
you all right? i don't know which is worse- being re-abducted by those things, or having to ask you for help.
you're joking.
am i? i didn't "help" you, tyr.
i saved your ass.
dylan, all systems are back online.
i've located my avatar.
on screen.
rommie, report to command.
dylan, we all know what's going on here.
the only question is, how do we stop it? i'm the answer to that question.
rommie, come back.
you're not safe.
i'm sorry, dylan.
the crew must be kept safe.
these are the same creatures that tortured us.
i intend to even the score.
i order you back to command.
this is bigger than theandromeda.
i'm exploring the concept of revenge.
rommie, you'll die in the process.
i've located their power source.
damn it, rommie! why did harper have to make you so stubborn? everything's under control, dylan.
let's go.
oh, crap.
beka, meet me at themaru.
tyr, back to command.
andromeda, can you track her? there is a vague trail.
good thing i gave her an emergency signal.
[ dylan .]
:put us on that trail.
so, our mind-bending friends have returned.
sorry, beka.
i know this is rough.
rough, i could live with.
it's the gnarled, jagged, soon-to-be-violent i'm dealing with.
we're dealing with more than that.
survival of the universe.
oh yeah.
that.
all right, working from your horizon, i'm picking something up, some kind of force.
an energy wave, i don't see anything.
not that i'm surprised.
tyr, what have you got? nothing.
dylan, looking for them is futile.
shoot at whatever harper is picking up.
well, my guess has been the best one so far.
so, shoot! firing.
dylan, we're coming apart.
you know, i think it's cheating to be invisible.
aw, this sucks literally.
beka! get us out of here! well, that was different.
not really.
my passive sensors have located a planet with massive electromagnetic pulses.
no modulation in the pulses.
one intermittent energy level.
my avatar's trail leads there.
all right, let's go get her.
we can't.
they'll see theandromeda, and themaruis in bad shape.
i'm going to get my crew member.
tell me about the planet.
the planet is essentially a complex of tunnels.
the surface is inhospitable due to a rapidly decreasing temperature.
not quite a class m planet.
defense systems? there are none.
do you believe that? no.
and now they have rommie.
even cut off from theandromeda, rommie's gifts are inestimable.
yeah, she and her systems can be very, very adaptable.
all right, well, i believe this is the place where i'd say we should forget about rommie and move on.
harper can always build another android.
what? are you saying we should just forget about rommie and move on, and harper can always build another android? yes.
forget it, tyr.
no way.
rommie's the greatest thing i've ever done, even if she almost broke my hand.
she's alive, tyr.
come on, she's got a life, she's got as much right to live that life as you do.
all right.
on the other hand, i would embrace the opportunity to to what, tyr? well, i'd like to crush these creatures into cosmic dust.
i'd like to utterly and unequivocally slaughter them.
i would like to kill them all.
i'm done.
so, let's go get her.
uh, how do we know the rest of these creatures are off theandromeda? we don't.
beka, i need you here.
and you can pilot this ship.
trance, you're on weapons.
tyr, to the slipfighters.
oh, um okay.
all right.
i'll think of something to do.
i'm not picking up a thing yet.
they had to know we'd be coming.
maybe they don't care.
[ beka .]
: i'm taking you straight towards the power source.
there should no obstructions in the way of your route, and if you buy that, i've got a drift to sell you in the yuker system, where jade grows like weeds.
hey, tyr.
why don't you go first? age before beauty.
thank you so much.
don't mention it.
andromeda, anything new? the planet is still surging power.
trance, any idea who these creatures might be? well, perhaps the ship is caught in a traumatic energy phenomena, pieces of which enter each of our minds, causing us to see and to believe that which is deadly and contrary.
oh, really? or, they're a pea-wit angry gang for hire who like to appear and disappear at will or none of the above.
or the opposite of everything you can imagine.
beka, we're entering their atmosphere.
remember, today's theme is invisibility.
i like themes.
everything looks clear up here.
um, boss, i think we've got a problem.
what? shoot, shoot, shoot! on three.
one i couldn't wait.
three! ow thanks.
beka, report.
beka, what's the problem? no problem.
harper was, uh entertaining a friend in command.
damn.
for those of you keeping score at home, we are looking at a lot of tunnels.
they all look so inviting.
yeah, take your pick.
eeny, meeny, miney, moe.
i've got you on screen.
you're charted as close as i can get you to the planet's power source, and, let's hope, rommie.
you're breaking up, beka.
we'll resume communications when we land on the surface.
this way.
go on, and fear not.
i will protect you.
i think you have that turned around.
well, we'll see.
do you have a better idea? i imagine we could no.
i'm picking up an energy source on deck 57.
do you think you guys could get that? i'm a little busy here.
tyr, the last time we fought these creatures, you didn't remember a thing.
yes, they they get into your mind.
well, they went after you again, but you seem fine.
i am fine.
really? really.
you're a strange man, tyr.
sorry, trance, you scared the crap- well, that was way too easy.
what the hell is with these things? if i have seen these creatures before, why don't they look familiar? is that a rhetorical question? you shouldn't be afraid to ask any question.
right.
nice try, creeps.
are we just a bit out of shape? i'm not out of shape.
perhaps a physical is in order.
i was just in the middle of one, and it was going great.
[ pulsing .]
are you hearing that? yes, i am.
we must be close.
close to what? close to that.
they're disappearing and reappearing.
power shortage, perhaps? i'm thinking it might be our good friend rommie, but why aren't they attacking us? i'm thinking they're thinking that we can't see them.
really? let's find out.
hmm.
this is too easy.
on a count of three? let's just shoot them.
that was too easy.
it's a bridge.
it's a bridge.
it's a long way down.
it is a long way down.
from all the readings i'm getting, it says that the power source is on the other side.
isn't it always? looks like we have to cross the bridge.
it would seem so.
well, after you, captain.
now i'm the captain.
i'd say this time they know we can see them.
mine hit first.
yours was fatter.
it's definitely through this door.
thanks for the warning, tyr.
probably could have just opened it.
hi, rommie.
hi, dylan.
how are you? oh, i'm hanging in there.
that's not funny.
i'm just trying to break the tension, dylan.
i'm not tense.
well, you look it.
what are they doing here? they're trying to use me to focus their power source.
their generator's not online yet.
i'd like to get down now.
we're working on it.
did you press something? okay, i get it.
what the hell? where did these guys come from? the generator captures energy from the plasma below it, but not fast enough or efficient enough.
that's what they were going to use me for.
now, dylan, it isn't just these creatures.
something's coming, something big, and it's in an awful hurry.
so are we.
beka, what's going on up there? i've got a number of alien ships in the neighbourhood.
tell me there's not a tunnel opening.
good guess, there's a tunnel opening.
whatever you're doing, i'd recommend doing it quickly.
i do not like this.
rommie, what can you build out of all of this? whatever you want.
egg cooker, nuclear fusion device.
egg cooker? mm-hmm.
no, i want something to take out this generator.
so you want a bomb? i want a bomb.
right, and they say androids can't improvise.
you know, dylan, it's only a matter of time before these creatures find another way to focus the energy in the generator.
that's why we're going to blow this thing up.
we get to go home first, right? so you want a timer? i want a timer.
could you pass me that, please? after what you've told me and what beka's going through, these guys are planning a massive attack.
trance, harper, get your butts back here.
maneuvering away.
let them have it, trance.
firing.
blasting to smithereens.
all set.
arm it.
done.
we should probably leave.
that would be a good idea.
yeah.
dylan! that was a very good gun.
anytime, guys.
who saved who's ass? it's good to have her back.
i have another squadron rapidly approaching.
thanks for the good news.
that was a necessary negative assessment.
well, let's try to accentuate the positive, shall we? they will soon destroy theandromeda? okay, thanks for trying.
harper, we're going to need that invention of yours, the jaws of life.
what? i built that to help us find these creatures.
we already know where they are.
mr.
harper, just get it! just get it beka, we could use a hand here.
on my way.
we can't outrun them, dylan.
all right, captain, you can save us any time now, if you'd like.
now he asks.
i think he was being sarcastic.
got your back, dylan.
i have to scrap my second most favourite machine, scratch up her microsystem, reverse the digital reverse, working until my fingers go numb here, and still i have no idea why i'm doing this.
what do you have an idea of? what do i have an idea of? i have an idea that sometimes i envy you and your artificial intelligence for your low frustration level.
you could help, you know.
no, i can't.
thanks.
another squadron of ships is emerging from the tunnel.
beyond the dimensional tunnel, there appears to be a massive staging area.
the first ones on our ship weren't left behind they were an advance group for another invasion.
round three.
all set.
all weapons programmed and ready, and awaiting your command.
here we go.
i don't mean to be negative, but there are an awful lot of them.
consider this.
it's either the end of it all, or you'll have a magnificent tale to tell your children.
i've got plenty of stories, thanks.
speaking of kids, we should talk about that.
all right, the jaws are ready, but dylan, if i turn this on, it's going to draw their fire.
mr.
harper, take a guess.
turn it on? that's right.
they're firing.
they're zeroing in on us.
and this is a good thing? trance, hold fire.
holding.
dylan, we're not doing so well.
now! start firing! emptying missile tubes one through 200.
all on target.
well done.
beka, reverse full.
running away, i can live with that.
in fact, i can't live without that.
the force of the tunnel closing will shoot us into safety.
it might very well crush us.
and the tunnel will close because hopefully they will soon be losing their power source.
we'll know soon enough.
the enemy fleet has lost all power.
they're falling back into the tunnel, and so are we.
harper! shut it off! closing the big, bad jaws of life! andromeda, emergency power.
get us out of here.
the dimensional tunnel has collapsed.
the fleet is gone.
good work, people.
good work.
and so we bid adieu to our beloved visitors from the other side.
the other side, huh? now, there's a question.
what is on the other side of that tunnel? vedrans, the abyss.
there are bubbles in time and in the universe, but if they burst, can we survive it? i don't even want to guess.
that's your job.
i know that was a test.
it's good to have you back.
harper? would you like to give me a hug, just this once, with affection? i never did anything to you, rommie.
you're lying.
you're not lying! no! you okay? yeah.
why? i don't know like you're getting a little a little what? maybe you should have andromeda make sure you're okay.
did i miss a memo or something? beka, i'm fine.
dylan, behind you.
wait.
looks like we passed the test.
