[Rumbling sound.]

[Melancholy music.]

Next person I'd like to welcome up onto the stage is our very special guest for the night, and that is none other than the Assistant Commissioner for Police, Mr Brendan Trengrove.

You know, the Force really needs your average cop.
The sort of cop that's entwined in the life of the community.
Men and women in the Force who make themselves integral to the lives of the people in their district.
That not only enforce the laws of the land, but involve themselves with the local footy team.
Fight the fires, - drive the tractor at fetes.
- [Grunts.]
To be a country cop, you need to be a friend.
A confidant and a counsellor.
- A mentor.
- [Alarm bells ringing.]
Everyone depends on ya.
And that decent, honest cop is the man standing here Sergeant, or should I say, former-Sergeant, Roy Macy.
You not only have the Force's thanks, mate, you have the thanks of your town.
- Well done.
- [Applause, cheering.]
