Now and Then
(GARY RUSSELL) The opening shot of a Roboman committing suicide was performed by stuntman Peter Diamond on Thursday 27th August 1964 on the south bank of the River Thames, under Kew rail bridge.
These scenes were planned to be filmed under Hammersmith Bridge until designer Spencer Chapman suggested Kew rail bridge, as this was an easier structure for him to replicate in the studio.
Scenes of Robomen patrolling were filmed at Irongate Wharf in Wapping, looking out towards Butler's Wharf on the other side of the river, which is where the Tardis lands in the 1984 story, ''Resurrection of the Daleks''.
The disused Wood Lane underground station, situated close to BBC TV Centre, was used for the scenes of Barbara chasing after the rebels in episode one.
Wood Lane Station was opened in May 1908 to serve the Franco-British Exhibition and Olympic Games.
The station finally closed on 22nd November 1947.
This building is the former London Transport boiler house, now owned by the BBC.
In 2001, the location represented the interior of the British Museum in the feature film ''The Mummy Returns''.
These are the steps leading down to the sub-level passageway connecting the underground platforms three and four.
Even today, the subway has the remains of the 1947 posters hanging from the walls advertising ''Princess Elizabeth Day for Needy Children'' and various stage productions.
The cliff-hanger to ''World's End'' was filmed on the north bank of the Thames under Hammersmith Bridge, near Riverside Studios where the story was being recorded.
Actor Robert Jewell, dressed in his swimming trunks, operated the Dalek as it was pulled ashore on rails.

For the conclusion of the sequence, footage was shot around the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens .

Dortmun's death was also shot on 23rd August, 1964, on Engineers Way, Wembley, outside the old Palace of Arts and Palace of Industry buildings built for the British Empire Exhibition of 1925.
The smashing of the Dalek cordon was also filmed in Wembley, on Third Way outside the former HM Government pavilion.
When the pavilion was demolished in 1975, the stone lion statues outside were rehoused at Woburn Safari Park.
The final day of location filming was conducted on Friday 28th August 1964 at John's Hole quarry at Stone in Kent.
This was the first ever quarry to be used in the making of Doctor Who.
