109 - Return of the Mummy

Goosebumps.
Viewer beware.
You're in for a scare.
I'm here in Egypt visiting my Uncle Ben and Cousin Sari.
My Uncle Ben's an archaeologist.
He's really cool.
He knows all about ancient civilizations.
My Cousin Sari thinks she knows a lot, but she's okay.
We're on the site of a secret dig.
My uncle has discovered a pyramid that is the tomb of an ancient Egyptian prince.
The pyramid is like this dark underground maze full of secret passages and dead ends.
It's pretty spooky, but I'm not afraid.
I'm psyched that I get to be one of the first people inside The tomb of Prince Horu or at least we hope it is.
If it is, you'll be famous, Dad.
And there's a real mummy in here? Duh! That's why they built it, Gabe.
What's this? Hey, give me that! It's my summoner.
I bought it at the airport.
Uh, a summoner? The guy said it can call forth the dead.
He said it was a real mummy's hand.
I hope you didn't pay too much.
That's one of the oldest scams around.
Hey! Oh! It's warm.
That's because it communicates with the dead.
That's because you've been carrying it around in your pocket.
I'll tell you what.
You can try out your summoner on the prince.
But first we have to find him.
Hmm? Wait a minute.
Let me get a picture of you guys.
Okay.
Um, move a little to your left.
I wanna get those drawings in the shot.
They're called hieroglyphics.
Whatever.
I want them in the shot.
It's very simple.
You just press the little button and a picture pops out.
Even you can do it.
I know how to do it.
Could've fooled me.
Just smile, Sari.
That's better.
All right.
Come on.
Let's go.
That's weird.
Come on, Gabe.
We gotta stick together.
Sari, come here.
Do you know what these mean? It's all about the journey of the soul after death.
Can't you just feel the presence of death here with us? Yeah.
Creepy.
I'd hate to be stuck in here all by myself.
Wouldn't you? Sari? Sari? Sari? Come on.
This isn't funny.
Uncle Ben? Where are you guys? Sari! No! Uncle Ben! You guys! Hello? - Gabe! - Sari? - Gabe, down here! - Gabe! Sari! Uncle Ben! Sari! Where are you guys? Oh, man! Sari? Uncle Ben? Uncle Ben! Whoa! Snakes! It's just a rope, you chicken! Grab it, Gabe.
Grab the rope.
That's it.
Lift! Gabe, this is fantastic! This lion's head is Prince Horu's sacred seal.
And you discovered it.
This is the entrance to the prince's tomb.
He fell into it.
That doesn't count.
Sure, it does.
And we're going into the tomb tomorrow.
Wh-What about the Snakes? Won't your summoner scare them away? If we send you in first, that'll scare 'em.
Probably even wake up the prince.
Hey! All right, you two.
I'll send in a work crew, clear out all the snakes.
There were some spiders too.
Hey! My summoner - It's gone! - Are you sure it's not in your tent? Yeah.
I had it with me in the pyramid.
Remember? Well, then you probably dropped it when you Became hysterical? I'm sure the crew will find it.
In the meantime, here's a little something I picked up for you.
What is it? Some kind of old glass? Uh-uh.
It's the petrified sap of ancient trees.
It's called amber.
Look at it.
Look right inside it.
There's a bug! That's right.
It's an ancient scarab beetle.
It was trapped in the amber over 4,000 years ago.
Great present, Dad a dead bug.
It's totally cool.
Scarabs were very important to the ancient Egyptians.
You see, they believed that to keep a scarab meant that you would live forever.
It's really 4,000 years old? Uh-huh.
Yes, it's true.
Knock, knock.
Dr.
Hassad, I'm so glad I caught you.
Uh, excuse me.
Do I know you? Nila Rahmad.
I'm a reporter with the Cairo Sun.
Oh.
I thought you all called yourselves journalists these days.
Well, I guess I'm just an old-fashioned girl.
My newspaper heard that you have discovered the tomb of Prince Horu.
Well, I don't know what they heard.
I'm not sure we've discovered the tomb yet.
That's even better.
I want exclusive.
I want to come with you and write of the discovery from the beginning.
Well, then you should start with my nephew Gabe here.
He's the one who discovered the door to the tomb.
In fact, he's the only one who's actually seen it.
- Are you an archaeologist too? - No, just clumsy.
He fell into it.
Well, some of the greatest discoveries happened by accident.
Strange.
We are twins.
How very unusual.
Yours is empty.
I think it's prettier without the dead bug.
The scarab's supposed to be for good luck.
I hope mine is not bad luck.
Here.
I took this picture.
It is the seal of Prince Horu.
Madam? Where shall I put these? Just leave them over there.
That photo Madam, surely you do not It's nothing to worry about, Jefe.
No one must enter the tomb.
It is cursed.
Someone will die! Enough.
My apologies.
I cannot stay.
What was that all about? "Let me rest in peace.
" You can read that stuff? What does it mean? It's a warning to scare off grave robbers.
Sometimes, these tombs contain a great deal of treasure.
And there are some superstitious people who still believe that there's a curse.
Like you, Gabe.
It's said that more than one man has tried to rob the sacred tomb.
- What happened? - They never returned.
The ancient legend says that if you repeat the sacred words three times haru, hara, haree the mummy will be awakened from his sleep to seek his vengeance.
But, of course, that's just superstition.
Is that not so? Just think.
A boy from America will be the first one to see the mummy.
Yeah.
Spiders! Spiders! Spiders! A little jumpy, Gabe? Of course I'm a little jumpy! I mean, you heard that driver.
What if he's right? What if there's a curse? Okay, everybody ready? We're about to enter a room that no one has seen for 4,000 years.
Oh, no! It's empty! What happened? It's another trick to discourage grave robbers.
It's a false tomb.
Maybe all we have to do is say the sacred words and let the prince come to us.
Haru, hara, haree.
I wouldn't do that.
What's the matter? You afraid the mummy's really gonna come to life? Well, no, but What, then? Say it.
Haru, hara, haree.
You chicken? Haru, hara, haree.
Happy? Maybe Horu is listening.
It's probably just some cracks in the wall let in the wind.
Gabe, what's that? My summoner! How did it get here? Hey! It won't let go! Help! Uncle Ben, help! It won't let go! Help! Help me! Give me a break, Gabe.
No! Help! What are you doing? What happened? The wall swung around.
Help! Let us out of here! Help! Oh! This thing is sealed tight! Get us out of here, Dad! Oh, come on! There's gotta be a way.
Dad! Ben? Ben? Can you hear me? Ben? Help! Get us out of here! These walls are thick.
They probably can't hear us.
We'll never get out of here.
We have to try, don't we? - Okay, come on.
- Let's try this way.
Be careful.
Whoa! This is it.
This is the prince's tomb.
Great.
We'll be the world's richest skeletons.
Gabe, look! - What are you doing? - I'm gonna open it.
But what about the warning? Don't you wanna be the first one to see him? Sure.
I just don't wanna be the last.
Are you gonna help me or not? Okay.
With all our might, heave.
Uh-oh.
Nobody home.
What was that? I don't think I wanna know.
Come on! Come to me! - Nila? - Come to me, my brother.
It's Princess Nila, your sister.
Come on! I have waited so long for this day that we may be reunited once again.
- Hey, that's my summoner! - Silence, foolish peasant! The summoner is mine.
Now, we shall rule again.
She's crazy! Destroy them, my brother.
- There can be no witnesses.
No! Let me rest in peace! Horu, remember.
You were weak.
I was strong.
I was the one who ruled.
Do you remember, Horu? Do you remember, my brother? I remember! My life! My life! I lived inside this stone every night for 4,000 years! And now, I will never Is it Dead? I guess not! Stay here! No! Stop! Halt! Halteth? Haru, hara something or other! Sari, run! Uncle Ben! What's happening? Quick! Let's go! Come on! This way! Come on! Don't forget this.
You keep it.
Something to remember me by.
Old Egyptian custom.
When you get a lousy gift, you're stuck with it.
Please excuse me just one minute.
I'll be right with you.
Okay, so what do I tell these reporters out here? - The truth? - Sure.
Tell them the mummy walked.
And his sister's a 4,000-year-old beetle.
And they almost got together and ruled Egypt again.
You're right.
Nothing but the truth.
It's too bad you can't stay.
I wish I could.
But I'm looking forward to getting back to where the dead stay off their feet.
But, hey, maybe you can come visit me next year.
I can show you the exotic world of shopping malls.
Wow.
I'll tell you one thing.
When I get to the airport, I'm not buying any more summoners.
Can I give you a hand? No, I got it.
