The Amazing Race Canada (2013) s05e02 Episode Script

You've Got to Leave My Hose Alone Dude!

1 Ten teams arrived in the most eastern part of the country, St.
John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Go! KENNETH: This is awesome! JON: where they screeched from coast to coast.
[falcon sound.]
RYAN: Now we're on the west coast.
BOTH: Best coast! DEB: Aah! RYAN: Ooh! JON: And a roadblock left them walking the line between ecstasy EBONIE: Oh my god! ANDREA: [screams.]
IVANA: [screams.]
JON: and agony.
DEB: Ahh! BERT: Argh! DAN: This is tiring! JON: The detour had teams up the creek, with a paddle.
KENNETH: Jeepers creepers! MEGAN: Whoa, wrong way I don't know how to do it! JON: While others were losing their grip.
ANDREA: Oh! BERT: I deserved that.
RYAN: This is the entrance! JON: And while Kenneth and Ryan were amazed by their first-place victory BOTH: [shouting.]
JON: Aaron and Deb You've been eliminated from the race.
DEB: Yeah.
JON: bit the dust.
JON: Now, nine teams remain as they race to win the next generation 2018 Chevrolet Equinox True North Edition, a once in a lifetime trip for two around the world, a quarter of a million dollars cash, and the Amazing Race Canada.
JON: This is Vancouver, British Columbia.
And today, this beautiful coastal city will serve as the starting point for nine teams as they continue on Canada's favourite summertime adventure: The Amazing Race Canada.
Kenneth and Ryan won the last leg of the race, and will depart first at 1:35 am.
Rip it and rip it.
Leg two, baby! Make your way to Fort McMurray, Alberta! BOTH: Alright.
RYAN: For sure.
JON: Teams must now fly more than 1,500 kilometres over the Rocky Mountains to Fort McMurray, Alberta.
And here, where the powerful Athabasca and Clearwater Rivers collide, is Alberta's oldest European settlement.
The Alberta wildfire remains out of control.
JON: In May of 2016, Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo Region was ravaged by a wildfire that forced more than 90,000 residents to evacuate and destroyed over 2,500 homes and buildings.
Brave firefighters and first responders from across Canada and around the world came together to battle the massive blaze.
And over the past year, the people of Fort McMurray have come together to rebuild their community, as they demonstrate the true meaning of Fort Mac Strong.
RYAN: Note: in this leg of the race, there are three express passes up for grabs.
KENNETH: Wow! RYAN: This is huge, dude.
KENNETH: Okay, we are starting in first place.
RYAN: We're here to win.
KENNETH: The Give'r train's already left the station.
Everybody's back at home, sleeping in their beds.
Wake up! Let's go! Okay! KOREY: There are three express passes up for grabs! IVANA: Let's go! KOREY: You ready? IVANA: Let's go, let's go! IVANA: We are so excited to start second today.
KOREY: Hello, sir, we're on our way to the airport.
IVANA: As personal trainers, this is our huge advantage in this race.
IVANA: Come on, come on.
IVANA: Fitness for me is every day waking up and having a goal in mind.
IVANA: Korey and Ivana - BOTH:.
.
.
you are team number one.
ANDREA: Go, go! ADAM: Make your way to Fort McMurray, Alberta.
ANDREA: We've got to go get a cab.
ADAM: We're starting leg two in third position today.
ANDREA: Adam did a lot of the physical challenges in the last leg of the race so this leg of the race, I really want to be involved.
We're in a bit of a rush.
ADAM: That's what I wanna hear.
You've got this.
ANDREA: [laughs.]
Thank you.
IVANA: Alright! KOREY: Ha-ha! IVANA: Hi! Fancy seeing you guys! KOREY: The fact that there's three express passes coming up in this leg is crazy! IVANA: Crazy.
KENNETH: We definitely want an express pass because when you have an express pass, you get to bypass one challenge during this race.
IVANA: Whoever gets that, [whistles.]
Wow.
SAM: Make your way to Fort McMurray, Alberta.
You have $90 on your BMO Cashback Mastercard for this leg of the race.
PAUL: Let's go.
Hi, sir.
Do you know anything about oil? PAUL: No.
SAM: [laughs.]
Fort McMurray was the town that had the huge fire last year.
KAREN: Goin' to Alberta! BERT: We're from Alberta.
KAREN: We're from Alberta! ANDREA: Woo! Let's do it! EBONIE: Fort McMurray, Alberta! I can't wait! EBONIE: Last leg, we took a penalty.
ANDREA: Oh, taxi! EBONIE: It paid off, but we are definitely never using the P word ever again.
No penalties today.
Oh no, girl.
DAN: [singing.]
O Canada Do you know all the words? No.
BOTH: [laughing.]
RIYA: The biggest advantage we have on this race is our relationship.
How many people can say that they have a best friend of 15 years that they met in the fourth grade? Same elementary school.
Same high school.
Same university.
Same schedule Everything's the same.
RIYA: I can't wait to see Jon.
I can smell his cologne from here.
I can smell his cologne! MEGAN: Today is the day.
MEGAN: We're in last place, and we're motivated today.
We're not ready to go home.
We want to make our province proud.
We want to make our families proud.
MEGAN: Hi.
Two tickets to Fort McMurray, please.
CLERK: How would you like to pay for that? MEGAN: We'll be paying for that today on our BMO Cashback Mastercard, please.
CLERK: Thank you.
JON: All teams are now flying on the same flight from Vancouver to Fort McMurray, Alberta.
When they touch down, racers will load into one of these 2017 Chevrolet Silverados, where they will find their next clue.
KAREN: Go, go, go! MEGAN: We've gotta hustle, Court! COURTNEY: Yeah, baby! DAN: Straight ahead now.
IVANA: See the flag? Right there.
KOREY: Okay, let's go.
RYAN: Right here, dude.
KENNETH: Ya! ANDREA: Grab the clue! KENNETH: Route info.
Drive yourselves to WildPlay Park at Vista Ridge and search for your next clue.
Okay, let's go.
KENNETH: Oh, we are first place, baby.
We ran out of that airport full tilt.
Welcome to Alberta! COURTNEY: Where? MEGAN: Vista Ridge.
COURTNEY: Vista Ridge [burps.]
Excuse me.
KOREY: Look at these trees, man.
IVANA: I know.
[sighs.]
Just can't imagine the horror that they must have felt.
IVANA: I understand what it's like to lose everything literally overnight.
I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and when I was six years old, the war broke out.
My family and I were forced to flee.
Just the idea of the panic that I felt as a little kid, and then thinking that other people had May have felt something similar.
IVANA: As challenging as it was, truly it's shaped who I am and it's shaped how I live my life today.
KOREY: These guys are survivors.
IVANA: They truly are.
RYAN: Okay, here we are, dude! Vista Ridge.
KAREN: There, I see it, I see it, I see it! Roadblock.
JON: Twisting and towering more than 50 feet high up in the trees in this roadblock, racers will be tasked with finding the three parts of their next clue scattered around this adventure course.
After getting harnessed up, racers will need to carefully climb, crawl, and swing their way to over 50 platforms scattered throughout the WildPlay adventure course as they search for three separate clues.
Once all three clues have been found, teams can keep on racing.
But, that's not all.
Hidden throughout the course are three express passes.
Racers can take as many express passes as they can find.
But, if they do find more than one, they can only use one express pass themselves.
Any others must be given away before the end of the third leg of the race.
RYAN: Who's a triple threat? You are.
KENNETH: Okay, I am.
I'm doing this! KAREN: I am.
I can dance and sing.
BERT: Sure.
KAREN: And whatever the third one is.
BERT: Karen is gonna do it.
I am the triple threat.
Let's get this fired up! I'm a triple threat because I'm emotional, I'm physical, and I'm spiritual.
Come on, Kenneth! You got 'er, buddy! KENNETH: Lookin' for some clues! Gotta find that express pass! I have full confidence.
This is Kenneth in his natural habitat.
KENNETH: Oooh! Ooh, ooh! KENNETH: Dude, you would love it up here! BERT: Babe, you got this! KAREN: I grip and I clip, and I've gotta stay safe.
I don't think that I'm scared of heights.
Alright But I am scared of falling.
Eeek! I'm impressed right now.
Check and go.
Check and go.
KAREN: Nothing.
Not finding any clues.
BERT: You're a smart woman.
You'll figure it out.
No stone unturned.
Okay, this is it.
Vista Ridge.
Okay, there's the marker.
ANDREA: It's over there.
Let's go.
ZED: Who's a triple threat? SHABBIR: Triple threat? Somebody dancing? ANDREA: I am.
ZED: You're gonna do it.
SHABBIR: I'll do it.
RYAN: Up to [inaudible.]
.
Oh yeah, you got her, bud! KENNETH: Yeah.
RYAN: Kenny, good job, buddy.
KENNETH: Far out, man! BERT: Check and go, check and go.
KAREN: Clip.
Yes! That's it, boo! ANDREA: Woo-hoo! I love climbing and jumping.
This makes me happy! I'm channelling my inner monkey! Whoa! Ooh-hoo! In my bra.
Yes! SHABBIR: Where are the clue bags? I'm not seeing them.
What the hell? ADAM: Okay, so if you see signs, Andrea, for WildPlay Park ANDREA: Yeah.
Visitor information.
ADAM: Visitor information.
ANDREA: You wanna do that? ADAM: Yes.
CLERK: The direction you want to go in is down 69.
RIYA: 69 Could you print it out? CLERK: Yeah.
RIYA: Hey, guys! DAN: We all took the wrong turn.
ANDREA: Are you guys cool if we all follow each other? DAN: Yeah.
DAN: I just need to get on the 69.
That's such a funny highway name.
RIYA: [giggles.]
We got the directions.
It's so easy.
We're good.
We have both of the cars in front of us right now.
We can't lose them.
ADAM: Oh boy.
Okay we already lost them.
DAN: Oh, I think we lost them.
RIYA: No.
ADAM: We lost the pack.
We have no directions.
We're totally screwed.
Do you know at all where to go right now? I don't know right now.
PAUL: Look at this.
MEGAN: Who's a triple threat? COURTNEY: Okay, I'm gonna do it.
MEGAN: Okay.
SAM: You, let's do it.
PAUL: Yeah.
EBONIE: I love your spirit, girl.
I love it! ANDREA: Thanks, girl! Number three, I got you.
SAM: Alright, Paul! [wolf whistles.]
PAUL: Oh wow, thanks.
MEGAN: You're flying.
I love it! COURTNEY: I know! Yes yes! Woo! There you go! COURTNEY: Oh god.
Wearing black was not smart.
My poor boobs are sweatin'.
RYAN: How you doing? KENNETH: Feelin' good, dude! The vibe is high.
I'm searching for that final clue, and I find KENNETH: Ya! Express pass! Yoo hoo hoo! EBONIE: Argh! I'm frothing, like I wish he didn't scream it.
I wish he just hid it in there, but, you know, whatever.
It's all good.
There's other ones, girl.
ANDREA: I know.
PAUL: Woo-hoo! ZED: It's all about detail, Dad.
SHABBIR: I think I see one Please.
Thank you.
Thank you, thank you.
SAM: Paul be nimble, Paul be quick! Woo woo woo woo! You're flying.
PAUL: Thanks, babe.
RYAN: You got 'er, Kenny! KENNETH: Ya! Two express passes now.
KENNETH: Woo! Kenny just found the second express pass, and he wants everyone to know.
Sorry, I gotta It's exciting, dude.
Good for them.
Good for them.
Gah! It's exciting, you know? I see something that looks like an entrance IVANA: Vista Ridge, right there.
RIYA: Oh my god, we did it.
IVANA: Do it.
KOREY: I'll do it.
DAN: You wanna do it? RIYA: Yeah, I'll do it.
DAN: Okay, Riya's gonna do it.
IVANA: Okay, you got this, man.
You got this.
So we arrive to the roadblock, finally I'm hoping Korey just kills this! KOREY: Yeah, this is not as easy as it looks.
DAN: If you die, I'm taking your name off our YouTube channel! RIYA: Shut up! EBONIE: Follow your intuition, girl.
Come on, Daddy! Awesome, right! She has three clues.
ANDREA: Even though I have all the clues, I'm looking still for that last express pass.
EBONIE: Girl, I have the eyes on the prize.
RYAN: Keep going, buddy! Ooh ya KENNETH: Generally in life I don't have the best luck, but there are moments when luck just comes my way.
Another express pass.
KENNETH: Ya! Sick.
We have the third and final express pass.
KENNETH: Stoke levels are through the roof now, dude! Everybody, the express passes have all been taken.
Oh my god, I want to throw up.
Oh, they found everything.
PAUL: Kenneth and Ryan have all three express passes.
Ya! PAUL: That means they can manipulate other teams; they can get other advantages.
That puts a lot of power in their hands.
Sweet! EBONIE: Andrea, did you hear that?! ANDREA: Yeah! We might not have the express pass, but we're out of there first.
ANDREA: Detour.
Pump it or Pull it.
Teams will now get to experience what it truly means to be northern strong.
It's their call: Pump it or Pull it.
MAN: Pull! [gunshot.]
JON: In Pull it, teams must shoot down four-inch clay targets with a 20-gauge shotgun.
Pull! [gunshot.]
Just like that.
JON: Teams will make their way to Fort McMurray's Fish & Game Club, and find the trap shooting range.
MAN: Pull! JON: Trap shooting requires good hand-eye coordination and split-second decision making to accurately hit the small, clay targets as they catapult 80 kilometres per hour through the air.
Teams must rotate every three shots as they attempt to shoot down their targets.
Once teams successfully shoot down a combined total of 15 clay targets, the range officer will give them their next clue.
[gunshot.]
JON: When fire ravaged the Wood Buffalo Region, the brave men and women from the Fort McMurray Fire Department led the fight.
And every day they continue to train and hone their skills to protect the community from future disaster.
JON: In this 150 Challenge, Pump it requires teams to take part in a fire prevention training exercise.
After gearing up, teams will carry this 120-pound pump to a nearby water reserve.
Once there, they must figure out how to operate the pump, and assemble the hoses provided to extinguish the controlled fire burn more than 50 feet away.
JON: Once the flames have been fought, this firefighter will give them their next clue.
Teams must choose carefully, as this is a limited-stations detour with only five total spots in both Pump it and Pull it.
ANDREA: Pump it.
Get a firefighting water pump up and running.
Pull it: Shoulder a shotgun and hit 15 targets.
I feel the firefighter.
EBONIE: Same, same.
Awesome! Firefighters are sexy! [chuckles.]
COURTNEY: Okay, come on, Courtney MEGAN: There you go, Court! Looking good! COURTNEY: Oh god BERT: Alright, babe, another team's leaving! MEGAN: I'm so proud of you! MEGAN: We are leaving second place.
BOTH: We're gonna do Pump it.
I still haven't seen Adam and Andrea.
COURTNEY: Oh my god! ADAM: [sighs.]
ANDREA: In situations like this, when you lose the other teams, you literally have no idea where you're going.
I'm gonna put my hand out the window and make this guy pull over.
He's stopping, he's stopping.
Thank you! WildPlay Park at Vista Ridge? MAN: Down there a little ways, there will be a branch off the airport Carry on straight.
ANDREA: Thank you.
Thank you.
Just goes to show how friendly people are around here.
[sirens.]
EBONIE: Here we are.
ANDREA: We're gonna be firefighters for a day.
So, we need to bring this over there, and then go put out the fire over there.
We got this.
We're gonna oh my god! Yeah, that's gonna be heavy.
EBONIE: The first part of this challenge is all about strength.
It's super heavy.
ANDREA: Argh! Oh my god, there must be an easier way than that.
EBONIE: Okay, we're wasting time.
ANDREA: Do you wanna switch? EBONIE: No! ANDREA: Okay, just asking.
BERT: Alright, babe, how we doing? How many you got now? KAREN: One! KENNETH: Gotta get that last clue, bro! Then we gone! KENNETH: I'm searching for the third clue when I see Karen on the course.
KENNETH: What numbers are you looking for? KAREN: Two and three.
KENNETH: You seen a one? KAREN: I've seen a one.
Have you seen a two and a three? KENNETH: Top section over there.
KENNETH: We exchange some information, and we go on our separate ways.
RYAN: Come on, Kenny! KENNETH: Yeah, man! RYAN: Full faith in you, buddy! KENNETH: Yeah! KENNETH: Fire up the Chevy! RYAN: Yoo! KAREN: Finally! I found the second one! KENNETH & RYAN: Let's go pump some water! KENNETH: That was so sick! EBONIE: Okay, we're almost there.
1, 2, 3 Okay.
ANDREA: Let's get the hose.
EBONIE: Okay.
Now we have to figure out how it works.
EBONIE: I feel like this goes here.
It fits.
Now, this bad boy.
Where do you go? There's for sure something we're not seeing.
EBONIE: Augh! COURTNEY: Let's do this! We're fire women! MEGAN: Woo hoo.
[groaning.]
COURTNEY: Whoa ow MEGAN: Aah! Savage thing.
COURTNEY: Man, why does this race always have to do with like heavy-duty stuff? I'm not a heavy-duty lady.
EBONIE: Megan and Courtney just showed up.
MEGAN: This thing is so heavy! EBONIE: Ladies, do you want to work together on this? MEGAN: For sure! ANDREA: We're gonna nail this together.
Girl power mode.
COURTNEY: This is obviously the hose.
MEGAN: Yeah.
COURTNEY: So we got that figured out.
BERT: One more clue and we out-y! KAREN: Just finish.
Just finish.
BERT: Let's go, babe! You can do this! Number 3! BERT: There you go! Let's go! KAREN: I found number 3! BERT: Let's move out! SAM: Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
SAM: Good job, Paul! Woo hoo! BERT: We're gonna pick Pump it.
KAREN: Pump, pump, pump it up! PAUL: I think Pump it.
SAM: Okay, we're doing Pump it.
RYAN: Oh ya, smash this, buddy! MEGAN: Is it sucking up anything? COURTNEY: No.
MEGAN: Maybe we have to fill it up with the white hose.
What goes in the water? RYAN: You good, buddy? KENNETH: This is our task.
This is our time.
How's it going, ladies?! These girls are not gonna figure this out.
EBONIE: Wait! This is connected to this! This has to go in the water! ANDREA: A-ha moment! [laughs.]
EBONIE: Right?! We need to put the pump in the water.
ANDREA: Let's do this! RYAN: Holy moly! Holy moly! EBONIE: It's a bittersweet situation.
The other teams don't have to struggle with how the pump works.
We went through it for them.
ANDREA: That's it, girl.
That's it.
Oh my god, victory! Okay, wait, wait.
Careful, careful.
KENNETH: Oh ya, she pumping! RYAN: Okay, cool, hurry up! Hurry up, it's gonna go! COURTNEY: Okay, ready? MEGAN: Oh, sugar! COURTNEY: What? [screaming.]
MEGAN: Savage thing! Whoa! I need to get closer! Give me more! Come on, come on! Give it to me! ANDREA: Give me a second! [yelling.]
SHABBIR: Yeehaw! ZED: Atta boy, Shabby! I think he's got two clues.
SHABBIR: Have no fear.
This is what life is all about.
Oh, yes! We can do it! We can do it! SHABBIR: Detour.
Pump it or Pull it.
ZED: We're gonna do Pump it.
SHABBIR: Pump it.
Pump it up! Pump it RIYA: Yup, empty.
Korey, did you find any clues yet? KOREY: I think they're gone, bud.
RIYA: What if they're all taken? ANDREA: Oh, please.
We're here, we're here! There's a marker right there.
There's a marker there.
ADAM: Who's a triple threat? ANDREA: I'll do it.
ADAM: Okay, Andrea's doing it.
ANDREA: We definitely are in last place.
I need to hustle.
Oh my god ADAM: Come on, Drea.
ANDREA: Oh my god.
ADAM: That's it.
ANDREA: I just feel a little uneasy.
ANDREA: About a year ago, I had surgery on my right knee.
I was playing basketball.
I went up for a layup, and on my way down, I twisted it.
I tore my ACL, my MCL, and my meniscus, so I don't know how my knee's going to hold up, but I'm feeling the pressure right now.
ADAM: That's it.
You're good, you're good.
ANDREA: Oh, baby! ADAM: Yes! Keep going, keep going.
She's a woman on a mission right now.
ANDREA: I got this.
[sirens.]
KAREN: There's a fire truck.
Woo, woo! PAUL: I see some fires.
They look small.
ANDREA: That's as far as it goes, girl.
COURTNEY: I don't think that's hitting anything! MEGAN: Gotta do this COURTNEY: Ya, ya! Thanks.
I need slack! I'm not close enough! Hey hey! RYAN: My pump starts coming out of the pond, so I start reefing on the hose.
KENNETH: I need more slack! She's dying! You gotta leave my hose alone, dude.
Yes! I'm a firefighter! I'm extinguishing that fire! COURTNEY: Do you think that's drained? MEGAN: I think that's good.
COURTNEY: He's giving us the clue! Thank you so much! Check, please! COURTNEY: Route info Drive yourselves to Phoenix Heli-Flight.
Alright, let's go.
Woo! COURTNEY: We are leaving this detour in first place.
And the girls are right behind us.
ANDREA: My boots are full of water.
MEGAN: Okay, I've gotta put socks on.
COURTNEY: Do you want me to drive? MEGAN: No, I won't know where to go.
It's better for us to wait two minutes for me to put my socks on.
COURTNEY: Okay, hurry, hurry.
EBONIE: Woo hoo! We're first again! COURTNEY: Come on, Megan.
I really wish the girls weren't ahead of us.
We like them, but like, they still need to be behind us.
MEGAN: Yeah.
IVANA: You're doing great, Kor.
KOREY: Thank you, love.
Finally! DAN: You got this! ANDREA: I need to find some clues Ooh! One more to go Get the heck out of here.
ANDREA: Okay, don't fall.
Don't fall, Andrea.
ADAM: That's it.
Steady, steady, that's it.
Please have it, please have it ANDREA: I just got all the clues.
RIYA: Like, are you kidding me? We arrived last.
We left in 7th place.
We're kicking ass.
RIYA: I feel like there's not enough clues.
KOREY: I feel you, trust me.
DAN: Where the hell did she look? We're gonna be here forever! IVANA: This challenge sucks.
RIYA: I feel like there's not enough clues.
KOREY: I feel you, trust me.
IVANA: [sighs.]
SHABBIR: Let's do it.
Let's do it.
ZED: We're going to Pump it.
Oh, it's closed? When we arrive at the Pump it station, we are told that all the stations are in use and so we can't do it.
ZED: Okay, we're going to Pull it.
SHABBIR: Oh, too bad.
[gunshot.]
ZED: For this detour, together we have to hit 15 clay targets.
SHABBIR: Pull! [gunshot.]
OFFICIAL: Miss! ZED: That's alright.
SHABBIR: I've never handled a gun before.
Neither has Zed.
ZED: I have.
SHABBIR: You have? ZED: Mm-hm.
SHABBIR: Oh, I'm sorry.
SHABBIR: Pull! [gunshot.]
OFFICIAL: Hit! SHABBIR: Sweet! ZED: Pull! [gunshots.]
And there we go.
KENNETH: It's going well now! We got the pressure up! Can we get a check? KENNETH: Alright, ya! RYAN: Yes! KENNETH: We're fightin' fires from the top now! RYAN: Thanks, boys! We appreciate [inaudible.]
! Good work, buddy.
PAUL: Crank the engine on.
Nice! SAM: Okay, go, go, go, go, go! Go to the end of the hose! PAUL: Me? SAM: Yes! Wait, Paul! We gotta get the knots out.
We didn't get the kinks out of our thing before we started, which was dumb.
PAUL: Argh! KAREN: Bert, I wanna get closer! Stop pulling! Husbands don't listen! I'm the one with the bigger hose right now! So, he should be listening, and he's not.
Come here! EBONIE: Yes, this is it.
Helicopter ANDREA: Yes! You've got a weight problem.
With over 66,000 square kilometres of lush boreal forest, unforgiving terrain, and almost zero road access helicopters are a critical lifeline to the oil and forestry workers at the Wood Buffalo Region.
Teams must now solve a weight and balance math problem to determine how much fuel is needed to keep this helicopter stable with a full load of passengers and gear for its next trip.
Racers will enter the hangar and find this finished example board from a previous trip that demonstrates how to solve the problem.
Using the example as a reference, teams must determine the two missing variables on their own board that are required to calculate the helicopter's centre of gravity.
When they've filled in the missing information and calculated correctly so the centre of gravity falls within the acceptable limits, their fuel weight will be correct, and Darryl the pilot will give them their next clue.
EBONIE: Holy crap.
Oh my god! How much fuel can this helicopter carry and still balance? ANDREA: What we have to do is calculate the exact fuel this helicopter needs to get the precise centre of gravity capacity.
Do we want to go look at the example? EBONIE: Yeah.
ANDREA: There's an example board completely filled out.
We have to learn how to use it to calculate the two numbers that are missing from our board.
Holy moly! ANDREA: [laughs.]
ANDREA: Um we're not good at math.
We're taking our time.
MEGAN: Phoenix Heli-Flight.
COURTNEY: Alright, go in there.
Okay, go, go, go! Oh no! Okay, this is gonna be hard.
Megan and Courtney just showed up.
MEGAN: CG equals MX COURTNEY: Okay, let's write this down.
MEGAN: divided by N.
Okay, this is easy.
Six divided by MEGAN: I've always been a good math student, for sure.
COURTNEY: You really have.
Megan is a biomedical engineering technologist, so I believe in her.
MEGAN: So, I look at these numbers, and it seems like it's pretty basic algebra.
I know exactly what formula I have to use.
Okay, lemme try something.
You need to talk, Sam! I can't see anything! Tell me when! SAM: A little left! Not there! PAUL: Argh! SAM: Paul and I can barely communicate as it is.
Are you having trouble controlling it? PAUL: I cannot hear you! It's muddy! It's mud! Something must have mucked up the hose.
BERT: We have to take it out to clear the clog.
That's good, that's good! SAM: Ya! When we work together like that, it's killer.
KAREN: The other two just left.
It's only us.
There might only be two clues left DAN: [sighs.]
in this whole course.
Let's see Yes.
Boo-yaka-sha! Yes! Let's go! We're not going home, Korey! We're not going home! RIYA: If the clue isn't in this one, I'm done! Yay! I got it, Daniel! DAN: Oh, thank God! RIYA: I honestly thought I was gonna die on that challenge.
ADAM: Well, we're back in it, man.
ANDREA: Yeah.
Let's go, let's go, let's go! Once again, my son is scaring me.
ZED: Pull! [gunshot.]
There we go! It's done! Woo! ZED: We just absolutely slaughtered that detour.
Oh, made up some good time.
ANDREA: Hi, sir.
Ooh, it's heavy.
We do not have a lot of experience with guns.
ANDREA: When does the trigger go, it's when I hit? OFFICIAL: When you pull it.
ANDREA: Pull! [gunshot.]
Hell, ya! Oh, baby! ADAM: When she hit that first target, it just meant that I could do it.
[laughing.]
ADAM: Pull! [gunshot.]
Pull! [gunshot.]
Dammit.
ANDREA: He'll get it.
He just missed two, but once he gets the hang of something, he's good to go.
[gunshot.]
OFFICIAL: Close.
KENNETH: There, I can see the helicopters.
RYAN: Sick.
Right on, dude.
COURTNEY: The surfers showed up.
KENNETH: One plus one equals Team Give'r.
How much fuel can this helicopter carry and still balance? KENNETH: I hate math with a passion.
This is tough, man.
I haven't done math since like high school.
KENNETH: This stuff is far out.
MEGAN: Okay, let's just ask the pilot and see.
The worst they can say is no.
Check! Yes, that is correct.
COURTNEY: Oh, my god! Let's go! MEGAN: Aah COURTNEY: Oh, my god, I love you! I didn't know what the hell you were doing! Fly in a helicopter! JON: Teams must now join their pilot and fly to MacDonald Island Park.
After landing, racers must locate the Miskanaw Golf Course where they must search its 240-acre expanse for the 16th hole, and the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Bordered by the Athabasca, Snye, and Clearwater Rivers, the stunning 16th hole of the Miskanaw Golf Course will serve as the second pit stop on the Amazing Race Canada.
The last team to check in here may be eliminated.
COURTNEY: Oh my god, this is our leg! I woke up this morning, I had cheesecake I knew it! PILOT: Okay, we're going up.
COURTNEY: Oh, we're going up! We're going up.
Hold my hand.
MEGAN: Okay.
Oh, my goodness! MEGAN: We leave this in first place, and we get to ride a helicopter.
Jon is not gonna expect us.
He honestly will not.
ANDREA: It's simple.
For sure, it's simple.
There's something that we're not seeing here.
ANDREA: There's two numbers missing.
We just need to find those two numbers.
EBONIE: We have to be between 152.
5.
ANDREA: So, we're trying every single number until we calculate exactly the correct response.
EBONIE: Just write 500.
ANDREA: Check, please.
Yes, that is correct.
BOTH: Yes! EBONIE: Oh my god! ANDREA: This is so cool! Oh my god! [both exclaiming.]
BOTH: Oh my god! ANDREA: This is sick! EBONIE: Oh my god! PILOT: As you can see on our right-hand side here, this is where the fire swept through town last year.
MEGAN: As far as the eye can see it's just burnt-out, dead trees.
You can just picture all of this up in flames.
PILOT: And if you look just on our right-hand side, there's an orange house up on the end, and that was my place that burned.
On that day, it didn't really matter what was burning.
You just had to do your job.
I'm getting a little teary-eyed.
I know.
I'm actually choking up.
We got a whole bunch of mud mucked up in our water sucker, and so now we've cleared it out.
Yes! Go, babe! KAREN: Yes, yes! Thank you! Thank you so much for your hard work.
Excellent, excellent work.
Thank you.
BERT: We really appreciate it.
KAREN: Thank you.
I can only imagine what these firefighters actually did when this fire was taking over this whole city.
Like, that is an amazing job, and they run to it.
ANDREA: Kill it, Adam.
OFFICIAL: Alright, hit something.
ADAM: Pull! [gunshot.]
ADAM: Yes, baby! ANDREA: Yes! I get it now.
I got it.
OFFICIAL: Now? ADAM; Yeah.
KOREY: Hey, we could do this.
ADAM: Korey and Ivana just showed up.
Like, I gotta pick my game up here.
[gunshot.]
ANDREA: Yes! One more, Adam.
ADAM: Pull! [gunshot.]
Woo! We're rolling, man! We're rolling right now, Drea.
PAUL: You've got this, babe.
[sighs.]
Sam's a math guy.
SAM: I see this challenge, and immediately I'm thinking, 'Okay, this is perfect for me.
' SAM: So we have to be between that range SAM: I have a finance background.
It's all number-related.
I might be close.
I think I'm on the right track, dude.
Let's do 113.
Can I get a check, please? PILOT: Sorry, that is incorrect.
KENNETH: Okay.
Dammit! Okay, let's say this is 500.
PAUL: Okay.
SAM: Okay, that's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna get some check.
Check, please! Yes, that is correct.
SAM: Woo! PAUL: Good job, good job! SAM: Let's go! RYAN: Our chance to get first place is gone.
KENNETH: We've watched it fly away in three different helicopters.
Can I get another check, please? No, try again.
KENNETH: Are you kidding me? We're lost.
RYAN: This math challenge could cost us this race.
RYAN: Dude, I'm lost.
KENNETH: Yeah.
RYAN: My math skills are brutal.
We started this leg in first.
This challenge put us way back.
Three teams are gone! Man, really, if it comes down to it, man, we can bribe people with an express pass.
That's really what, if it comes down to it, we have to do that.
We can't be stuck here all day.
I think that's a good idea, dude.
I see helicopters there.
ZED: We have to fill in the blanks, okay? SHABBIR: Mm-hm.
BERT: I'm just gonna let Karen do what she does.
She's really good at math and stuff like that.
If they get it, I'm gonna go talk to them.
Is that okay? KENNETH: Yes! So, I know it's this plus X.
KAREN: I've always been studious.
KAREN: I believe CG falls between these two numbers.
KAREN: I was an honours student growing up until I was in high school and in university, and when I did my Master's.
KAREN: Okay, so go 500.
Can we get a check, please? Yes, you got it.
KAREN: [laughs.]
KENNETH: Okay, go.
Let's go.
KENNETH: Hey, Bert.
KAREN: We know that you have an express pass.
KENNETH: Yes, and it's yours.
RYAN: If you guys tell us, we'll give it to you.
BERT: Deal.
This is it.
Copy it.
I'm always willing to trade.
RYAN: Can we get a check, please? That is correct.
RYAN: Thank you so much.
KENNETH: Awesome.
RYAN: Kenny, let's go.
This is for you.
KAREN: Yes! BERT: Thank you so much.
KENNETH: You're welcome.
BOTH: [singing.]
Express pass, express pass! Express pass.
Ow! We're going up.
This is sweet! KENNETH: Team Give'r comes through, buddy! RYAN: Oh ya! RIYA: We're here! We got this.
IVANA: Pull.
[gunshot.]
Oh my.
How do you do this? OFFICIAL: When the clay pigeon comes out of the house, just follow it up, okay? DAN: And shoot it? OFFICIAL: And shoot it.
Okay, face down on the gun.
DAN: What's the word again? OFFICIAL: Pull.
DAN: Oh, yeah.
Pull! [laughs.]
'What's the word again?' How do you oh.
Oh my god, what the hell is this? COURTNEY: So cool! COURTNEY: We land in the middle of a stadium, and now we have to find Jon.
COURTNEY: Jon, where are you? Oh my god, I hear a helicopter, Megan! MEGAN: Yeah, okay, come on! Someone else got in.
ANDREA: Okay, a golf course.
COURTNEY: Jon! ANDREA: This is the golf course Where is 16? MEGAN: We're gettin' close.
I can feel it in my bones.
COURTNEY: Jon, we're so close! COURTNEY: Do you see him? MEGAN: Yes! Come on! COURTNEY: Oh my god! Oh! JON: It is my pleasure and honour to introduce to you Deputy Brad Grainger from the Fort McMurray Fire Department.
Welcome to Fort McMurray, Alberta's northern light.
COURTNEY: Thank you so much.
MEGAN: Thank you.
Megan and Courtney Team number one! [both exclaiming.]
[crying.]
Oh my Oh my god! MEGAN: No one expected us to get first today.
COURTNEY: Never! They were like, 'These girls are not competition at all, ' and now we're here.
Ya, we are! JON: As the winners of this leg of the race, you've won a trip for two to Auckland, New Zealand.
[screaming.]
MEGAN: This is the best day! COURTNEY: The best day of my entire life! See you guys at the next stop.
Alright.
Thank you so much.
JON: Come on, ladies, bring it in! ANDREA & EBONIE: Ya! JON: Andrea and Ebonie you're team number two.
BOTH: Yes! [screaming.]
ANDREA: A real number two! EBONIE: A real number two! JON: Real two! EBONIE: It's a real team number two.
We have no penalty.
ANDREA: Thank you.
EBONIE: That was awesome.
IVANA: Pull.
[gunshot.]
No way.
That was so bad.
Sorry.
You got it, you got it.
KOREY: It's not easy.
It's not easy.
IVANA: Right now it's Dan and Riya with us.
We're the last two teams again.
RIYA: Pull! [gunshot.]
[sighs.]
IVANA: We need to get out of here ASAP.
DAN: Pull! [gunshot.]
RIYA: Woo! Yay! Oh, I get it now! Okay, I get it.
I get it, I get it.
Oh my god, good job, Daniel! PAUL: Jonny! JON: Sam and Paul Team number three! SAM: Ya! [laughing.]
PAUL: Good job.
Tell me a little bit about today.
Even that little bit of firefighting we had to do was exhausting.
It gave us a really true appreciation for everything you guys did over the past year.
ZED: Do you wanna do a check? SHABBIR: Yeah.
ZED: Check, please? 640.
88 I'm sorry.
That is not correct.
ZED: How can we not figure this out? I'm getting frustrated.
ANDREA: Come on, Adam.
ADAM: Okay, let's go look at the example board.
ZED: Do you wanna ask those guys if they wanna work together? SHABBIR: Yeah.
ZED: You guys want to work together? ADAM: Yeah.
ZED: We think it's a great strategy to work with them.
Four brains are better than two.
Trial and error? We're trying to get it done with Zed and Shabbir right now.
ZED: I'm just gonna try random stuff right now.
KOREY: Pull! [gunshot.]
IVANA: Ya! Seven more, seven more! IVANA: Thankfully, Korey has stepped up his game and he's crushing this challenge.
KOREY: Pull! [gunshot.]
RIYA: Yes! Daniel, we're almost there! DAN: Pull! [gunshot.]
Ya! RIYA: Daniel was hitting every clay bird.
I am shocked! [gunshot.]
DAN: Ya! Three in a row! I'm a little bit of a sniper.
[gunshot.]
RIYA: Woo! One more, Daniel! DAN: One more.
We only need one more before we move on.
If we don't leave this challenge before Dan and Riya, we might be going home.
KOREY: Pull! [gunshot.]
[gunshot.]
RIYA: Woo! DAN: One more.
IVANA: We only need one more before we move on.
KOREY: Pull! [gunshot.]
IVANA: Yes! Let's get out of here! RIYA: You got this! DAN: Pull! [gunshot.]
RIYA: Woo! DAN: I'm the sniper! No one can ever mess with me.
Oh wait, I have to open the car.
JON: Good job, you guys! Bring it in, boys! Karen and Bert, Kenneth and Ryan, you are teams number four and five.
[all cheering.]
Well, Karen and Bert, you now have an express pass.
KAREN: We do.
BERT: Yeah.
JON: Kenneth and Ryan, do you guys have a strategy for what you're gonna do with that other express pass? It's still needs to be discussed a little more, but we're gonna still make our decision based on what we feel is right.
RYAN: When we give away our express pass, we're gonna expect something in return.
JON: Take care, you guys.
KENNETH: Thanks, Jon.
Thanks, Deputy.
IVANA: Phoenix Heli-Flight! Here we go! IVANA: There's a lot of teams here.
First things first, we need to figure out what M is and what X is, and what M is.
KOREY: Right.
IVANA: I'm not only a personal trainer.
I'm also an elementary school teacher.
I have to teach math.
Maybe it's this.
We are super focused.
We just don't want to finish last.
IVANA: We got this.
We got this.
I'm gonna try this.
Check, please! ADAM: They got it.
PILOT: Yes, that is correct.
ZED: Yes! ADAM: They got it.
ZED: Okay, 465.
ZED: Four, six, five.
ANDREA: Yeah? ADAM: Can you check, please? PILOT: Congratulations, you are correct.
ANDREA: I like your suit.
SHABBIR: Oh! [laughing.]
This is awesome! We're so high up! DAN: Okay, ready, Ri? RIYA: I have never been more ready in my life.
We need these two numbers Dan and Riya are here.
KOREY: Who cares? Let's go.
RIYA: We got this, Daniel.
RIYA: We are neck-and-neck with Korey and Ivana.
In every challenge, they are beating us literally by slivers of seconds.
RIYA: My hands are shaking.
We have to get out of here.
ZED: We made it! JON: Zed and Shabbir, you're team number six.
BOTH: Ya! Woo! ADAM: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! JON: Bring it in, you guys! ANDREA: Watch your feet! JON: Adam and Andrea, you two are team number seven.
ANDREA: Yes! [laughs.]
ADAM: Today started off really ugly.
But I finally got my confidence back, and we feel like we could win this race.
DAN: Okay, you wanna add it up? RIYA: But it says it doesn't DAN: Okay, just add all this up.
KOREY: This is it.
This is it! This is it, this is it, this is it! IVANA: Can we get a check? Is the answer 500? Yes, that is correct.
IVANA: Yes! [laughing.]
RIYA: Did they get it? DAN: They said 500.
IVANA: Okay, let's get out of here, please! RIYA: Write 497, because that's the way we'd get it.
DAN: 497, okay.
Can we get a check? Correct.
Thank you! KOREY: We gotta go.
IVANA: Oh my god, take off, take off, take off already! KOREY: Shoot.
It's too close for comfort.
IVANA: Dan and Riya are trailing minutes behind us.
RIYA: Let's go.
RIYA: We're so close, it is anybody's race.
DAN: Where could he be? IVANA: We need to figure out where 16 is.
RIYA: It's Ivana and Korey! DAN: Is that them? RIYA: Oh my god! Oh my god! DAN: Do you see a pit stop? RIYA: It's down there, Daniel.
IVANA: I feel like it's over there.
KOREY: I see it.
RIYA: You have to push.
You have to! IVANA: Ya! I'm so happy to see you, Jon! You can't even JON: Korey and Ivana, you're team number eight.
IVANA: Woo! KOREY: Oh my god.
IVANA: Ah! KOREY: Oh my gosh.
So close! Skin of my dreads, man.
RIYA: [breathing heavily.]
We're here.
JON: Dan and Riya, you two are the last team to arrive.
I am sorry to tell you this, but you have been eliminated from the race.
DAN: That's okay.
RIYA: It's okay.
DAN: We did it.
RIYA: We did.
We tried our hardest.
Disappointed? A little bit, maybe.
We're really grateful for the time that we had on this race.
It was like nothing we could have ever imagined.
RIYA: Doing the Amazing Race Canada, I realized doing adventurous things puts you out of your comfort zone.
With what we want to do with our lives, we always have to be out of our comfort zone so, if anything, it'll just make for better YouTube content, and RIYA: A better friendship.
DAN: A better friendship! DAN: I hate to admit how much I love her, because I will never admit that.
RIYA: You just did! The world will see Dan and Riya RIYA: Again.
DAN: so much more.
DAN: We're the only Dan and Riya's out there.
I would never do this experience with anyone else.
RIYA: I know.
JON: Next time on The Amazing Race Canada Castlegar, British Columbia! Woo! JON: Teams race through the peaks and valleys ANDREA: Woo! JON: of interior British Columbia.
SAM: This is ridiculous.
EBONIE: Oh my god! JON: At the detour, some teams spin out of control.
EBONIE: Ah! My god! JON: while others are feeling the heat.
COURTNEY: Oh my god, I'm sweating! MEGAN: You have to get in the zone or we have to switch.
RYAN: This race is crazy.
JON: And with three express passes in play, the race takes an unexpected turn.
KAREN: Argh! JON: For more info on the racers, head to ctv.
