The Dead Zone s02e19 Episode Script

Visions

I had the perfect life until I was in a coma for six years.
And then I woke up and found my fiancée married to another man.
My son doesn't know who I am.
Everything has changed including me.
One touch and I can see things things that happened, things that will happen.
You should see what I see.
(crowd cheering) Sarah: 387! Whoo! Johnny? - Johnny? - Sorry.
What? Are you feeling okay? Uh yeah, I'm fine.
I'm having a great time.
- Staring at your shoes? - They're really cool shoes.
You weren't having a vision, were you? Actually, I was.
I saw myself at home, watching the fights on ESPN.
If you didn't want to come today then you should have said something.
- You used to love this marathon.
- Yeah, when I was running in it, way before they were calling it the Faith Heritage Alliance - Race for Peace.
- Who cares who's sponsoring it? It's still a fun event, and it's for a good cause.
- Yeah, a cause with no effect.
- Wow! Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? - Oh, here comes Dad.
Whoo! - Go Dad! Sarah: Yay, come on! 387! Yay, go Dad! Come on, let's go get him.
Walt: Hey! - Sarah: That was great.
- Walt: Hey.
How'd I do, huh? - Walt: Did I win or what? - Sarah: Yes, you did.
Are you okay? Yeah.
Whoo! Man: You mean nothing! You have no meaning! You're all dead! Why bother? What do you want me to say? The end is coming! The sky is falling! Don't come any closer! Shame on you, Johnny Smith! Shame on you for what you've done to these people! Excuse me? (theme music playing) * Oooh * * Fall in love, fall in love, fall in love * * Fall in love * * Feel no shame for what you are * * Feel no shame for what you are * * Feel no shame for what you are * * Fall in love, fall in love * * Fall in love.
* Bruce: A homeless guy.
Maybe he's not homeless.
Who knows? The point is it's not the first time that I've seen him.
"Seen him" seen him, or seen him? He's not a vision.
People in my visions usually don't turn to look and talk to me.
When was the first time you saw him? It was during the storm.
We ran into that carnival.
And after the lightning hit people were running everywhere, except for this one guy.
(whispers) Johnny Smith.
He said my name.
Maybe he was part of the circus, a roadie.
Yeah, but that still doesn't explain the second time I saw him.
Why didn't you say anything about this before? Oh, okay.
"Hey, Bruce! What's going on? Me, I just got this mountain man circus freak following me " "Who's not a vision!" I get visions off of touch.
I didn't touch anything.
If you got another theory I'd love to hear it.
How about you got somebody stalking you? Look, you said that he yelled at you.
- What did he say? - He was just rambling about the end of the world.
Typical crazy-man-at-a-fair type stuff.
Didn't make any sense.
Stranger: It's a sick hobby you got there.
Get the hell out of my house! So this is where you study the end of the world.
- What do you want? - I want you to get in your car, and drive to New York.
White Plains.
Blue house.
Before it's too late.
(beeps) John: "1356 Primrose Lane.
Blue house.
White Plains New York.
" Answering machine: Hey, it's Bruce.
I'm not home.
Leave a message.
Hey, man, it's John.
Listen, I saw him again, the stalker.
He broke into my house.
He told me to go to an address in White Plains, New York.
Then he disappeared again before he told me why.
Anyway, I'm driving there now.
I think he knows about Armageddon.
I might need your help, so I'll call you when I get there.
- Daddy! - Hey! Hi.
Can I help you? Yeah, I'm looking for your husband, I think.
Can I ask what this is regarding? - Bonjour.
- Julia! Bonjour.
Comment allez-vous? Bien, merci.
I'm sorry.
I've been driving over My name is John Smith.
I drove down here from Maine - Maine? - Yeah, and uh Maddie? What's going on? Maddie: You don't know him? No.
Listen, we're not interested Wait a minute.
You have nothing to say to me? - Excuse me? - What is all this? - What's your name? - What's my name? Get the hell off my porch, that's my name.
Mr.
Smith, I think you have the wrong address.
This is 1356 Primrose Lane.
Like she said, you got the wrong address.
Something's wrong.
I'll give you that much.
Who are you with? Frank's guys? The 309.
All right.
I get the message.
Now you listen to me.
My wife lives here.
My daughter lives here.
Do you understand? Maybe that's the point.
You can get to me.
Okay, fine.
Just know I can get to you too.
Okay.
I'm not talking about your bosses.
I'm talking about you.
Okay, John Smith? I said, are we okay? Not even close.
Johnny: All right, listen.
I met this woman and her little girl.
I saw them murdered in a vision.
- By your stalker guy? - That's where it gets weird.
It's the same guy.
He's not exactly a stalker.
Unless it's not the same guy.
But I'm pretty sure it is.
Okay, Now you're starting to actually make negative sense.
I told you I need your help.
Can you take off work? I'll head out right after lunch, man.
Call me when you get here, all right? I gotta go check something now.
Frank, I'm not ignoring you.
You know I would never disrespect you, but I need you to trust me, okay? What I don't need is for you to send guys to my house.
That's not gonna solve anything.
- What are you talking about? - You know what I'm talking about.
- I'm talking about John Smith.
- I don't know any John Smith.
What are you doing here? - I could ask you the same question.
- You shouldn't be here.
- You told me to come here, remember? - I remember I said I've been there, nice house.
It belongs to guy named Christopher Wey.
- You two sort of look alike.
- He's not important.
But his wife and his daughter are important to you? - I need to see them - Before it's too late.
- It's already too late.
- What? - Why do you want to hurt them? - L Wh Hurt them - I can't remember.
- Hey! What are you doing? Chris! I found this guy over by the drainage buffer.
He says he knows you.
That's him.
That's the guy I was telling you about.
- He's trespassing.
Call the police.
- This the guy that threatened you? I'm not the one you should be afraid of.
- No? Who should I be afraid of? - Ask your brother.
My brother? What's he got to do with anything? Frank: You're interrupting a meeting.
It's dangerous not wearing protective gear around the site.
- There could be an accident.
- Frank Frank.
Look, I'll make you a deal.
You stay away from me, stay away from my family, I'll let you walk away from here.
Don't make deals.
Get him out of here.
If you care so much about your family, you should stay away - from your secretary, buddy.
- What? Wait, wait, wait.
Give me a second, fellas.
What the hell do you want? I want to know about your brother.
- Your twin, right? - No.
- Ronnie was four years younger than me.
- Was? Yeah.
He died when he was eight years old from lupus.
Look, what do you want? Money? I'm sorry.
You're right, I made a mistake.
(camera snapping) - Well, who's this? - A friend of mine.
This is Bruce.
This is Lieutenant Sandowski.
- Hi.
- Hi.
Mind if I get your last name? - Lewis.
- Lewis, okay.
All right.
I'm gonna go through this again and you stop me if I miss a detail, okay? You claim to have had a psychic premonition that Madeline Wey and Julia Wey are about to become victims of an assault resulting in murder sometime in the near future you don't know when and that the perpetrator is most likely a Caucasian male, between the ages of 35 and 45, who is, with the exception of burn marks on his face, the spitting image of Christopher Wey.
Lieutenant, I know you can't investigate a crime that hasn't happened yet, but I felt it was important that you know what I've seen.
Right, yeah.
No, it's great.
You did the right thing, coming in here.
Now, if you have any more premonitions, such as the name of the suspect, you let us know, okay? And until then, I suggest that you let us handle this.
Okay? Mr.
Lewis, you mind if I get your contact information as well? but why do you always manage to find the most insane situation possible and then get me stuck in the middle of it? 'Cause I need someone to believe that the most insane situation could happen.
Maybe nobody's home.
- Wait.
- Probably should have called first.
That's okay.
I think I know why you're here.
- No ice for you.
- Thank you.
Okay, let's talk.
I hope this covers your retainer.
Son of a bitch doesn't deserve you.
I just need to know who she is.
I need evidence.
Oh, I'll get the evidence.
I've been thinking a lot about your visit here the other day.
- Yeah? - Let me take a guess and tell me how close I am.
My husband's been cheating on me and he's having an affair with someone close to you, - maybe your wife or your girlfriend.
- Wow.
- Mrs.
Wey? - Madeline.
Madeline I do have something to tell you, but first I have to tell you something about myself about who I am.
It may be hard to believe.
I hope you'll just hear me out.
All right.
Seven years ago, I was involved in a car accident.
Does this have anything to do with Christopher? It has a lot to do with the both of you.
- Look, I don't mean to scare you.
- What do you want? What I have to tell you is for your own safety.
You're telling me I'm not safe now? Julia: Hello.
- Oh, hi.
- Julia, go to your room.
- Um what's your name? - John.
- Okay, let's go.
- Au revoir, Johnny! (glass shatters) - Bruce: What is it? - He's out there.
He's out there on the porch.
- The woods.
- I told you he's fast.
Madeline! Lock the doors! Bruce! Bruce! You shouldn't have done that.
- You scared her.
- At least she's still alive.
You're making a mistake.
I only wanted to see my family.
- Your family? - Yes.
I can only look at them when you look at them.
- Who the hell are you? - My name is Christopher Wey or, at least it used to be.
- That doesn't matter anymore.
- I don't understand.
What if I told you that I wasn't really standing here? That you were having a vision of me standing here that I was actually standing somewhere else several years in the future? I'd say you don't know how my visions work.
I have to physically touch something.
So do I.
Bruce! You see? I knew the truth would scare you, so I couldn't approach you directly.
- I knew you wouldn't understand.
- Let me try.
I'm seeing the future, you're seeing the past.
We're sharing a vision.
Believe it or not, this happened to me before.
Once.
Where'd you get that? It's a long story but it's missing a big piece.
- What do you mean? - See for yourself.
Christopher's voice: The last thing I remember was I was walking into my house.
It was August, I don't remember the day.
(thuds) John's voice: You were in a coma.
Christopher: Like I said, the last thing I remember was walking into my house.
The next thing was that I couldn't see.
There was nothing to see.
I thought I was in a nightmare.
I would come to know that I was in fact in Baltimore, Maryland or what was left of it.
Armageddon? You survived.
Yes, I survived.
There were other survivors but no one I could trust.
I don't know how I made it.
Whatever happened, it changed me.
I wasn't prepared for it.
At first I didn't know I was causing visions.
I thought they were ghosts.
I thought I was losing my mind.
And then the dreams came.
Every night I had the same dream the same nightmare.
And I knew it wouldn't stop until I went to the place it kept showing me.
My visions were leading me they were leading me to you.
At first I didn't know you.
But when I learned who you were I knew what I had become.
Every time I hold this and you hold that We can see each other.
- Johnny, there's uh - I need to know something.
there's no one out here.
- The war.
Is it a war? When exactly does it start? How does it start? You don't know? Of course, not yet.
Is it Stillson? I know he's connected.
You've got questions, I've got answers, but first I need you to tell me what happens to my family.
- What? - You said I hurt them.
- I can't remember that.
- How can you not remember? I'm missing a piece.
The last thing I remember was walking into my house; the next thing was I couldn't see.
I risked talking to you because I want to see my wife and my daughter again.
I need to know what happened! If you're like me, why haven't you seen it in a vision? 'Cause where I'm from there's nothing left to touch.
This is all I've got.
You're all I've got.
I can only see as far as you can see.
When I touched you yesterday I saw Madeline and Julia dead.
They were both murdered.
I'll make you a deal.
You change that you save them, and I'll tell you everything you want to know.
Wait a minute, you have to No, you'd better tell me.
John: All right.
We are here.
The end of the world is here.
I'm not liking how any of this is sounding so far.
Okay, very soon something is going to happen.
Wey is going to get knocked out.
He's going to fall into a coma, here.
He stays in the coma and wakes up from it after Armageddon, here.
And realizes that he can use his own dead zone? That's when he finds the cane head my cane head.
- Okay.
- What, you don't believe me? It's not that.
This just sounds pretty far out, John.
Well, you better get ready, 'cause this is just the start.
Now, think of this.
If I save Wey, if I prevent him from being knocked out here he's not going into a coma.
He's not going to come out of a coma he's not gonna have visions of me.
- And that's a bad thing? - This is the one person who can tell us how Armageddon starts, what causes it.
He's the one person who can tell us how to stop it.
So you're not gonna help him.
What about his wife and kid? Where were you? I need know exactly what happened to your family and when.
I can only see what you see.
Well, it happens in your house.
- I need to get in there.
- Then take me with you.
Okay, where's the key? In the flowerpot.
I don't think this is a good idea.
Maybe we should wait till she gets home.
Yeah, and say what? Mind if we come in and figure out how you get killed? You remember the code? I remember.
This is where you get hit.
Me? No.
Him.
Bruce: Oh.
Hey, how you doin'? Bruce nice to Wait a minute.
I saw her.
Right here.
- What do you see? - Someone.
Maybe a burglar.
- Who is he? - How'd that feel, you son of a bitch? I bet not as good as this.
You didn't know what you had.
You had something great.
Guys like you, you got the whole world eating out of your hands, and you never seem to care.
Julia, run! Julia, wait! No! Julia! Madeline: Julia! - Julia! What are you doing?! - It's okay.
It's okay.
- Get away from her! - It's okay! - Julia! What are you doing?! - It's okay! Hey, Madeline Madeline, it's okay! Shhh! (Madeline screams) - Shh.
It's okay.
It's okay.
- (screams hysterically) Listen to me.
I took care of him.
I took care of that son of a bitch.
He's never gonna hurt you again.
Listen! Listen to me! Listen to me! We can make this work! We can work it out! Madeline, you deserve better you deserve better than him! Do you hear me?! Listen to me! Madeline? Maddie? Bruce: John, what is it? He killed he killed them.
Who? Who is it? Someone she knows.
She was having an affair.
No, you were.
That man was who she paid to prove it.
How do you know that? First tell me what you know.
We had a deal, right? If we don't save her, it won't matter.
Everyone's gonna die.
You know it.
If you had the chance to go back to June 5th, 1995 and stay with Sarah Bracknell and not have to see what's coming you'd know why I don't care.
Hands in the air! Now! Drop the cane! Drop the cane! I knew I should have stayed in Maine.
Stay in the car! What's going on? I called the cops as soon as I saw them breaking in.
Madeline! It's him! - He's gonna kill you! - Do you recognize him? - Madeline! - He's been to the house before.
He's also been to see your husband.
I came here to show you these.
He's in a few.
But the ones you'll be able to use in court are, um I'm sorry.
It's just, now people are trying to break into my house.
If you don't want to stay here, feel free to bring Julia I have a spare room.
That's kind, thank you.
I don't want to stay here.
I think I'm going to take Julia to my mother's house tonight.
That's a good idea tonight.
Hi, I need to speak to Sheriff Bannerman, please.
Yes, it's urgent.
Sandowski: That's an extremely detailed statement, Mr.
Smith.
Makes about as much sense as the last one.
Yeah.
Oh, good, good.
Yeah, send him over.
Hi, I'm Lieutenant Sandowski.
Sorry to meet you under such circumstances.
It's been quite a day.
I come home to find a squad car in my driveway.
The officer searching my house said there's been a break-in, and my wife took my daughter to her mother's house who, when I called, said she didn't want to speak to me.
Pipe down.
Who the hell are you? I'm the guy that could have had the life that you take for granted.
The difference between us is, I lost it all in one night.
And you, you're just pissing yours away.
- Hold on a second.
- Just, shut up for a second, okay?! Let me tell you something you don't know.
Your wife has hired a private investigator - to prove you're cheating on her.
- Here we go again with the PI.
His name's Lance Foster.
He reported the break-in.
I think we've heard enough out of you.
This is true, about my wife hiring this guy? Well, that would be her business.
Look, whatever you do, just do not go home tonight, okay? Go to your family and stay with them.
You understand? You need me to testify, press additional charges whatever it takes.
- I'll let you know.
- Will you listen to me? I warned you.
Stay away.
- Yeah, don't go home! - Keep your voice down.
Sandowski, can I see you for a second? - I said not to come here.
- You said not to call.
I came from the police station.
They said we have nothing to worry about.
They're wrong.
I know everything that's going on is my fault.
Christopher, I'm not going to forgive you.
I know, I - I just want to talk.
- Daddy! Hey, hey.
What's wrong? I was worried for you.
I just want to talk.
He's not stepping foot inside this house.
Madeline: Mom, stay out of this.
This is my house.
So you got friends in all the right places, don't ya? Sheriffs, religious leaders, politicians.
What are you, psychic to the stars? No, Officer, but in your excitement to keep me here you left out the fact that there was no breaking and entering to support your breaking and entering charge.
No forced entry does not mean you were invited.
I'll encourage the family to press whatever charges they feel appropriate.
I'm even going to suggest a few.
That's great.
I need my cane, please.
Where is this? What's happening?! What's wrong? Nothing's changed.
(phone ringing) John: Damn! We're already too late.
Go.
Let me check something out first.
(alarm beeping) Julia, wait.
Guys like you got the whole world eating out of your hands, and you never seem to care Julia, wait! - Get her out of here, okay? - Daddy's hurt.
Madeline.
Madeline! Help him! Call 911! Help him! Bruce: Yeah, I'm at 1356 Primrose Lane.
There's a man here that's hurt.
He's been attacked.
I don't know.
Please just send someone.
(Madeline sobbing) I was wondering when you'd show.
So was I.
- Look, I tried to stop - This is what's happened.
This is what was meant to happen.
I don't know if that's true.
Now we'll never know.
Why are you here? Why else? To make you a deal.
How did I know you were going to say that? All I'm asking is that you look after my family so I can know that they're safe.
So I can look in on them until Until what? Until the nukes hit? They're still not safe, Christopher.
And you haven't kept up your part of the deal.
- I can help you stop it.
- Yeah, you keep promising me that, but I don't see anything happening.
I don't see any proof.
You know why? Because you're lying.
- I don't think you know anything.
- Maybe I can't trust you.
Trust me? You can't trust me I saved your daughter's life.
I did everything that you asked.
- Now, tell me what you know! - I lied.
I don't know what happened.
I was asleep, remember? If you don't know, you can find out.
You don't know what it's like out there.
You can't trust anyone! You can trust me.
I'm not sure.
(theme music playing) - No no! - Yes yes! You're grounded!
