Trigger Point (2022) s01e06 Episode Script

Episode 6

Come on! We have eyewitness reports of John Hudson fleeing the scene.
It is imperative that we locate and detain him as soon as possible.
I'm pretty sure my luck is about to run out.
Tell you what, mate, she's used up so many of her nine lives, she's started nicking mine.
- What do you think that is? - Stay back.
Have you got my snips, mate? Lana, please, don't go.
You've gotta trust me.
My job is to keep people safe and I haven't been able to.
So is that what we are, then? Mates? I was with someone else.
- Does that mean it's over between us? - I don't know.
I double checked with Porton Down about the HMX we found.
There's nothing there.
Just "661142".
That was all that was in the file.
It's been wiped clean.
Get a hold of the Labour candidate and their security.
Tell them we're on our way.
It's the Progressive Alliance campaign headquarters.
- Miss Campbell-Khan? - What's going on? We've had intelligence of a potential attack.
There's an open gas cover under the boot.
They want this car moved.
This is a set-up.
We need to immediately evacuate the area.
When the car is lifted onto the ramp, it sets off a charge.
In this case, it's one that fires a projectile.
It's strong enough to go straight through the boot and into the gas pipes.
I need to get into all of these buildings and we need to check all the gas meters.
Shit.
He's set up a gas explosion in every building on the street.
I need EXPO support now.
- This way, sir.
- Can you come this way? We'll get you back in your home as soon as possible.
We need to remove your gas meter for safety.
We need to work faster.
They're on to you.
All residents are leaving their properties.
- Ma'am.
- Ma'am.
Sitrep? Er, we've evacuated everyone within a two-mile radius.
Lana and her team are dealing with each device now.
Sending in the robot to perform a controlled explosion on the car.
- Campbell-Khan? - Moved to a secure location.
So these devices would have taken out the entire neighbourhood, all by us moving an illegally-parked car.
Ma'am.
Footage from the video doorbell of campaign HQ.
Progressive Alliance staff said they saw him working all the way up the street.
Positive ID on John Hudson? He wore a mask the entire time to avoid recognition.
Even when he went inside to change the gas meters? He told them it was council regulations on entering property.
'Central One Four, the evacuation is complete, over.
' Nice and steady.
There.
Right, that's all the gas meters removed.
Good.
We're almost ready.
Central Eight Five, this is EXPO Two.
Buildings are clear.
We're just gonna neutralise the EFP.
Right, I'll be at the van.
Nice and slow.
Stand by.
Firing.
Great work.
This is EXPO Two.
All devices neutralised.
Site secure.
'Central One Five, received.
' Think we've earned a drink, boss.
No? Yeah.
Think you're right.
I'm knackered.
Great work, Hass.
You know me and John, we served together, but we never became mates.
You'd think after going through all that shit, there'd be a bond, you know? Look at you and Nut.
You were practically family, right? Yeah.
John never made me feel part of the team.
Always making a snide comment about Muslims.
"Oh, it's just banter.
" "It's just banter, Hass.
" Should have kicked his racist arse then.
Hass, I'm so sorry.
It must have been awful, mate.
It's life, innit? Face this shit all around us.
Don't know why people just don't open their eyes, you know? Yeah, you're right.
I wished I'd have seen it, too.
Wished I could have said the same to Billy.
Put him straight.
Yeah, you would have.
That was a horrible, horrible set-up with the meters.
I really don't know if I would have worked that out.
Nut would have been proud of you.
We all are.
Come here, soppy git.
Lana, I wanted to say how helpful you've been.
Your instincts about this case have been right from the beginning.
You seem to have an understanding of John's process, his methodology.
I'd like you to work with us.
See if we can predict his next move.
Yeah, anything I can do to help, Ma'am.
Thank you.
OK, everyone.
I wanna look at the pattern of the previous Crusader attacks.
Now, I know we're all working flat out, but I wanna remind you that we are running out of time, before the Commander goes public with John Hudson as our number one suspect.
Lana, any initial thoughts? Er, well, the device at the HQ was very sophisticated.
I had to piece together all of the elements to see the final goal.
He relied again on yet more trickery, just like we saw at Westhaven with the secondary light switch, Amburiq Mosque with the tilt switch in the bag, and the pressure plate under Billy's car seat.
The strategy is hard to predict, but he does appear to be leaving a trail.
"1912".
Me and Nut saw this at Westhaven.
We've also investigated that as a date.
We can't see any significance to 1912 for the far-right.
If you look at the pattern, the last two attacks have been directly related to the by-election, the radio debate and the Progressive Alliance headquarters.
- But neither was successful.
- Yeah, we messed up his master plan.
I mean, the gas bomb, that must have took some planning.
Gaining access to each individual house, prepping the charge for the car.
I know his mindset.
He's gonna be more determined now than ever.
John's gonna want to try and outwit us.
And he's gonna strike again, soon and probably bigger than ever.
It's gonna be the by-election count tomorrow.
Yeah, the election results.
I think that sounds right.
OK.
Let's send a team down to Deptford Assembly Halls to sweep ahead of time.
Let's step up security.
Cancel any leave.
I want people on the ground.
OK.
Thanks, everyone.
Thank you.
It's John.
He's texted.
His phone's back online? He's saying we need to talk.
OK, let's get the Security Service to put a geolocation trace on Hudson's phone now.
Ma'am, what do you want me to do? Reply? Yes.
Ask him where he is.
Try to keep him online.
We have an urgent trace, 5-8-7.
I'm sending it to you now.
Call him.
OK, confirmation phone is back online OK, patching through the location.
'You've reached John Hudson.
Please leave a message.
' Nothing.
I'll text him again.
Right, we need that location.
Get on with that, please.
Hang on, he's responding.
He's just sent a number through.
66 11 42.
Let's run that number, see what comes out.
OK, yeah.
Yeah, I've heard of that number before.
66 11 42 is the number from a redacted HMX file.
Sonya called in a favour from a mate at Porton Down.
Nothing is coming up.
We need that file, Lana.
Yeah, I'll get it.
OK, Ma'am, here we go.
We've got him located outside MOD Steepholm.
What the hell is that? OK, I'm just getting it.
It's a military ordinance facility associated with Porton Down.
- Looks like a dark site.
- Christ, what's he up to? - Screenshot those texts.
- Yeah.
Let's move.
- Well, I've never heard of this place.
- Neither have I.
- Is this the only means of entrance? - Yes, sir.
DI Youngblood, DI Desai, SO15.
Inspector Paul Kirby, Thames Valley.
My team are searching the entire perimeter.
We're attempting to locate a suspect and we have evidence that he might be on the premises.
This is a highly secure MOD base.
We've had no reports of any breach.
You'll have to wait for the duty officer That's unacceptable.
We need to carry out a search urgently.
He will be with you momentarily.
You're wasting my time.
I'm Major Shalfleet.
I'm in charge of security for the base.
Look, I appreciate the urgency, but it is virtually impossible for anyone without clearance to get inside.
Our suspect has military experience.
He might have used that to gain access.
What might he be looking for here? I'm afraid that's classified information.
Listen, we believe our suspect is behind the London bomb attacks.
OK? We're dealing with a time-sensitive situation.
MOD Steepholm is a storage facility for high-grade military explosives.
You are, of course, free to search the perimeter of the base for your suspect, but any search of the base itself will have to be undertaken by the military police.
In that case, I'll need a list of everything stored here.
We can't take the chance anything has gone missing.
Everything inside this building is kept under strict conditions and at the highest possible MOD security classification.
Your application for a search warrant has been received.
As yet, no official approval has been given by the MOD.
- Corporal.
- Sir.
Right.
So, John must have a reason to be here.
Have we found out any more about the numbers that he texted? We've cross-checked with Security Service, but 66 11 42 doesn't mean anything to them.
Whatever he's planning, we're still in the dark.
- Hey.
- Hey.
- What time is it? - Er, late.
Early.
I don't know, I haven't been to bed.
- Can I come in? - Yeah.
We need to have a serious chat about your caffeine intake.
Yeah, I know.
Look, Sonya, I'm so sorry for waking you, but I got this text off John Hudson with this number on.
- 66 11 42.
- Yeah.
Same number we found on the deleted HMX file.
Uh-huh.
Look, I'm sorry, Sonya, but I had to tell SO15 that we used back channels to get it.
- Wash - I know, but it'll be fine.
They've got more than enough on their plate.
I'm telling you, John is sending us signals.
We traced his phone to MOD Steepholm.
It's a storage facility for high-grade military explosives.
Wouldn't tell us what they stored, but my guess is some of it is HMX.
Well, it makes sense.
The security is so tight there, I don't know how John could have nicked HMX from there.
But now SO15 know that we used back channels, I'm thinking You want me to dig out my Porton Down contact - and see if he can help.
- Yeah.
- I'll look into it.
- Thank you.
Unless Steepholm itself is a lead? Yeah, maybe.
- 66 11 42.
Is it a code? - I don't know.
It's gotta be important.
Why text it to me otherwise? - I'll look into that as well.
- Cheers.
Thanks, Sonya.
Mate, are you all right? I don't know.
I just can't believe everything that's happening to me.
I've not even grieved for Billy or Nut.
I just keep working because I've got to make this stop.
I was thinking the other day, I don't remember ever telling either of them how much they meant to me.
Don't do that.
They knew.
Billy knew.
- Nutkins knew.
- I never told them.
We never had them kind of conversations.
Don't have to, it was obvious.
Picking Billy up when he was too drunk to get himself home, that's love.
Putting up with Joel's dodgy music in the van, that was love, too.
- Yeah, that's true.
- Mm.
Opening the door to your mate at three o'clock in the morning when you're working double shifts, that's love.
I am sorry.
Mate, kip on the sofa.
- You doing a full English, then? - You wish.
'All units from control, active message.
'The count's about to commence.
' 'Central Seven Four, received.
Security teams have been briefed.
' OK, there's been no planned works here in the past week.
Spoke to the election supervisors, nothing's scheduled either.
He won't try the same trick twice.
We've checked and double-checked the interior.
The PolSA team have checked the exterior.
Just got a feeling we're missing something.
Look, there's a coffee shop across the road, if you want me to get you anything.
- No, I'm good, ta.
- OK.
I'll just get this Yeah.
Hey.
Have you found something? 'My contact looked into Steepholm.
'HMX-319 was distributed from there.
Your hunch was right.
' The last occasion was July, 2009, an operation codenamed Dynamo.
'Dynamo?' Still nothing on those numbers.
I'll keep digging.
It's sparked something, but I can't put my finger on it.
We now know the HMX-319 used by the bomber in many of the attacks was last sent from MOD Steepholm for an operation called Dynamo.
It's been a difficult job finding anything on Dynamo.
For obvious reasons, military codenames aren't released to the public.
However, there was something that happened in Kandahar in July, 2009 a road traffic accident outside a village in Khakjab in which seven Allied soldiers were killed.
Christ, I remember that happening.
Well, official records show that all the passengers were reported killed in the crash.
However, the families of the soldiers believe they were actually killed in an explosion.
This is the best fit we have for Dynamo, an accident involving probable explosives.
Was John Hudson involved? There are some sections redacted from Hudson's military file that we've enquired about.
Samira's now following up with the MOD to get clearance.
What were they doing driving near Khakjab? Was it a supply truck? That's what we're trying to find out.
As are the victims' families, who've been demanding answers for over ten years.
In 2019, their request for the government to release the files was denied by the Defence Select Committee in a closed-door hearing.
Classic cover-up.
And the chair of the committee back then was Ayesha Campbell-Khan.
Which suggests to us that John Hudson was doing more than just targeting the Progressive Alliance.
Yeah, he's after Ayesha Campbell-Khan.
- He thinks it's a cover-up.
- That's right.
I've passed this information on to the Commissioner and the Home Office.
It'll be up to them to decide if the by-election announcement takes place behind closed doors or online.
For now, we'll increase security on the ground and around Ayesha Campbell-Khan.
OK, everyone.
Deploy two men to the roof, give us overwatch.
I'm on it.
'All units, check of assembly hall is complete.
'All levels secure.
'Prepare for arrivals to election count at Gate B.
' The word's come down from above that the announcement of the by-election results must go ahead, or "terror is winning".
Oh, for Christ's sake.
- Ma'am.
No, nothing.
- 'Any sign?' We've given Campbell-Khan the Osman warning and reviewed her security.
- 'All right, let me know.
' - Yeah.
OK, I'll call you back.
- Lana.
Lana.
- Sir.
- I'm sorry, you can't come through.
- I'm just - Just give me a sec.
- All right, course.
All right? - Karl.
- You didn't reply to my messages.
How did you know I'd be here? Where else would an EXPO be right now? I was nearby and I wanted to talk to you.
Got you a brew.
Look, I know you're busy and not in a good headspace, but I don't want to give up on this.
I want to be with you.
I wanna help you.
Yeah, Karl, I'm not in a good place.
I've just lost my brother, for fuck's sake.
It's been chaos since we met, and I I do care about you, but I just don't think I'm in the same place, and - I'm sorry.
- Give me a chance, then.
Please.
I just don't think we should see each other any more.
Really? Just like that.
We've got something, Lana, you've gotta see that.
- I've gotta go to work.
Sorry.
- Lana, wait.
Just a minute.
- Let's go.
- What was that about? Just a mate.
Let's go and check round the back.
Lana, the team have already been around here.
They've double checked everything.
Yeah, I know, but John's got a plan and I'm not missing a trick.
This place is like Fort Knox.
It's impossible to get anyone in or out.
I know.
It's been a long day.
It's been a long few weeks.
I actually can't believe everything that's happened.
- Yeah, you and me both.
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that.
- I know, I know.
- You know what? Who wants a quiet life anyway? Shit.
Thom! - Had another message from John.
- Let me see.
Hudson's phone is online.
I need geolocation now.
Endgame.
What? What does that mean? He's playing with us.
Christ.
Does anyone have eyes on Ayesha Campbell-Khan? Central Eight Five, sitrep on Ayesha? 'Central Three Eight, no change.
All under control.
' Central Eight Five, received.
Thank you.
Soldier's Chapel, St Jude's.
Yeah.
Scramble Blue Team and an EXPO crew.
I'll meet them there.
He's a mile away, an old military chapel.
Right.
- Yeah, all right, let's go.
- No.
This could be another diversion.
We need to be careful.
It may be a trick to get us away from here.
I'll take Blue Team to check.
We'll go to the Soldier's Chapel.
You stay near Ayesha Campbell-Khan, for the announcement.
OK? - I'll brief Hamilton on CTO.
- Yeah.
- Now what? - Sit tight.
Sitrep? Sir, John Hudson's phone has been geolocated to St Jude's Soldier's Chapel.
Firearms just gave an update.
DI Desai on bodycam will be coming in on a live feed.
Good work.
Let's get him.
'Central One Five, this is Central Seven Four.
'Blue Team are entering the building.
'Clear.
We're clear.
'Bravo Three Nine to CTR.
' No obs on John Hudson.
'Central One Five received.
' 'All units from control, 'active message, by-election results imminent.
' If the candidates would like to make their way onto the stage.
I, Malcolm Fernshaw, returning officer for the Deptford South constituency, declare that the total number of votes given to each candidate was as follows Bravo Three Nine, we have eyes on suspect.
It's John Hudson.
EXPO on me now.
I need EMT.
Suspected overdose.
Ayesha Campbell-Khan, Labour Party, the Progressive Alliance 17,454.
Roger Gordon, Conservative, 8,430.
Agatha Jack, English Flag, 3,361.
- Sam? - 'Thom, 'I'm at the chapel.
We've found him.
' 'EMT is five minutes away.
Reporting to DI Desai.
' Torch.
Man.
Fuck.
Got a pulse.
- OK.
All right.
- 'I'll keep you updated, Thom.
' No, yeah, thanks.
Therefore I give public notice that Ayesha Campbell-Khan is duly elected as the Member of Parliament for the Deptford South constituency.
Sam's got him.
She's got John.
He's not in a good way.
- Looks like an overdose.
- Oh, my God.
St Jude's Chapel is where they held the memorial service for all the soldiers killed in the RTA in Khakjab.
Right, well, that place obviously means summat to him.
What's he trying to tell us, then? Did he leave a note? We didn't find one.
Sorry, sorry.
Wait here.
OK.
Wow.
We did it.
Thank you, everyone.
Thank you.
It's a privilege to have been elected as your MP.
I am honoured to have represented this alliance of like-minded parties, and I thank my colleagues in the Lib Dems and the Greens for supporting my candidacy.
Thanks, Hillary.
Thanks, Yolanda.
This shows the value of solidarity.
I will be your voice in Parliament.
I will tell them how we feel, tell them we are not going to be ignored any longer.
Say again, Sonya? The numbers that John texted us from Steepholm, 66 11 42.
Dynamo.
I wrote them down, the number next to the name.
And then I saw it.
When you put them next to each other, 11 is "Na".
You're not making any sense.
Slow down.
We are all Londoners.
Wash, it's the periodic table of elements.
It's the atomic numbers.
So, 11 is sodium, and the symbol is 'Na.
' Exactly.
So once I had that, I went back and checked the rest.
66 is dysprosium, "Dy".
42, molybdenum, "Mo".
Dy-Na-Mo.
That's how the code works.
I will keep the promises I made 1912 is Code, too.
'19, 12.
1912.
'That's potassium and magnesium.
'Potassium is' "K.
Mg.
" 'Does that mean anything to you?' to separate truth from lies.
Together, there is nothing we can't achieve.
- Karl Maguire.
- 'Who's that? 'Wash?' I've gotta go.
We can make a difference - Oh, my God.
- if we work together! Mind if I have a word? For a secure building, it was surprisingly easy to hide something in here.
Listen up! Close the doors.
Close the doors now.
This is not a time for heroes.
Hotel Quebec Four Six.
We have an IED situation at Assembly Halls.
Close the doors now! Central Eight Five received.
Central Eight Five, we have a critical ongoing situation at Deptford Assembly Halls.
Possible IED.
Trojan One, we're entering the building.
Green Team on me.
- Armed police! Armed police! - Just stay calm.
Try to stay clam.
See this? It's called a dead man's switch.
All I have to do is let go of my hand and boom, we're all dead.
OK? I need the police to turn off your radios, and We need their direct feed.
They've pulled the transmission.
I'll make the call.
Can you talk me through the tactical options? Trojan One, in position, east staircase.
'Trojan Two Four.
The suspect has his thumb on a DMS.
Do not engage.
'Back.
' Trojan One, received.
'Central One Five, await further instruction.
'We have EXPO Two, Lana Washington, inside the hall with the suspect.
' Hello, Ayesha.
Come here.
Come here.
Come on.
Come down here for the cameras.
Come on! You covered up the murders of British soldiers in Khakjab in 2009.
You were chair of the Defence Select Committee that closed down the enquiry.
And now you're out here in front of these people talking about the importance of truth, as if you have any idea - what the fuck that means.
- I didn't close down the enquiry.
We issued a report.
Yeah, a report a full of lies.
It was a blatant cover-up.
It was not a cover-up.
I cared about every British soldier that serves overseas.
Oh, you care about soldiers, do you? What about soldier VN-39? Did you care about him? Does that ring any bells? That's what you called me in your report.
You wouldn't even let anyone know my real name.
Come on, come with me.
It's time the world heard the truth.
Down here.
Come on, here's the camera.
OK, the network's ready.
- Patching the direct feed in now.
- 'Over here, mate.
' In July, 2009, I was part of a convoy sent to supply a Special Forces forward operating base in Afghanistan with chemical explosives.
The whole operation was codenamed Dynamo.
Despite the importance of our mission and our cargo, we were lightly defended, undermanned and underequipped.
Usual story.
We hit a roadside IED outside a village called Khakjab.
It was an ambush.
Then an RPG hit the truck containing the HMX and that went up and took out a school we were passing.
We were being attacked, and then villagers came out from everywhere, angry.
Yeah.
Furious.
And they tore into us as well.
We tried to fight back, but there was too many of them.
You know what I did? I ran.
Yeah, that's right, I fucking ran for my life and left those boys behind.
The soldiers killed were covered up as non-combat deaths due to an RTA.
That was the line.
Yeah? An accident.
You wouldn't even tell the families what really happened.
We had to maintain a public faith in our mission overseas.
When I turned up half dead at the forward operating base, they stuck me in a hospital wing for three months, while they figured out how to make it go away.
But I wasn't gonna let it lie.
Those boys deserve more than that.
I threatened to go public, so they set up a secret kangaroo court and court-martialled me for deserting my post, for cowardice.
They kicked me out.
Threatened me with the Official Secrets Act.
Said I'd be jailed for life if I talked.
No pension, no voice.
We had national security considerations.
As a soldier, you should recognise that.
You shut us down! Yeah? Pretended people like us don't matter.
Yeah? Well, we did then, and we do now, and the world needs to know.
I didn't want you to be here, Lana.
Set it up so you'd go looking for John at the chapel.
So, go.
Go, please.
Go, please.
I'm an EXPO.
I can't.
So, you're gonna have to kill me, too.
'Trojan Two to Trojan One.
'We need to identify concealed sniper locations.
' We might be able to get a clear line of sight through the gallery door window, and either side of the foyer.
'Central One Five to Trojan One.
'Positions confirmed, 'but hold while we assess if Washington can negotiate.
' - Trojan One, received.
Costa.
- Sir.
Deploy to the elevated level, through the gallery door window.
Brown, take Jones and secure firing positions through the foyer level.
Go.
Sir.
Ma'am, we've got CCTV of him inside the building.
It looks like he retrieved the IED AFTER clearing security.
OK, then we have to assume it's real and active.
'I don't wanna hurt you, Lana.
' Then don't.
This isn't you.
This isn't me? You know, I don't even know who I am any more.
I tried using the official channels.
Yeah? I contacted the families.
We worked so hard trying to get an enquiry.
Do you know how many years me and those families spent fighting for that one day? One day in court.
You wouldn't even let us have that.
It wasn't up to me.
I didn't choose who gave evidence in front of my committee.
You're a fucking liar! You shut us down! You don't need to do this.
Listen, I could talk to the committee No more talking.
This is it, OK? 'Trojan Five Seven in position.
'We have eyes on the suspect.
' Karl, you can get justice.
Just, not like this.
You'll just be seen as another nutter.
It's not justice, Wash.
This is revenge.
See, I was running a rehabilitation group in South London.
Nic Roberts? Frank Welsh? Yeah, you know them.
- They used to come.
- Right.
And they were so full of rage and anger.
So I tapped into that.
I became their leader.
I needed boots on the ground and I couldn't take the risk of being caught before I was ready.
So everyone's expendable, even your mates.
They weren't my mates.
They were racist fucking idiots and they deserved to die, but I did give them a purpose, Lana.
Yeah? They wanted a culture war, so I gave 'em one.
And maybe their war and my war were different, but we all wanted the same thing, chaos and destruction and terror.
People would finally start paying attention to us.
Yeah, no, I know.
Saw your sign.
You put "1912" on the wall at Westhaven.
You were trying to give us a message.
I needed people to know what happened to me.
They had to start paying attention, to uncover the truth, to get me here now.
So, er What about What about Billy? He, he was, he was a loose cannon.
He was a liability.
He was making you unhappy.
I did it for you.
He was making you unhappy.
He caused you nothing but grief.
You said that! No, that is not fair.
He was my brother.
Yeah, and I couldn't take the chance of him leading you to me through the Crusaders.
Get back! Move back against those windows now.
You, move.
SCO19, get back.
I can see you.
Right, so, Karl, come on.
What about us? Were you using me? - No.
No, I wasn't using you.
- Was it all bullshit? Do you know what? I meant every word I said to you.
Every fucking word I meant.
Turn that off.
Turn it off now! He's getting more agitated.
We may need to act soon to see if we can minimise casualties.
Central One Five to Trojan Five Four.
Do you still have visual from the gallery? Trojan Five Four.
I still have visual here.
I want ground team on standby.
Prepare for dynamic entry.
Trojan One from Trojan Two Four.
Stand by.
'Critical shot may soon be required.
'Hold position.
'Prepare for dynamic entry.
' Trojan One, ready to engage.
'Central One Five to Trojan Five Four.
'Let's get a signal to Lana.
- 'Critical shot is imminent.
' - Trojan Five Four, received.
I started this journey thinking it was a one-way trip.
You, you made me believe there could be a future.
I thought you understood.
Thought that we were the same, trying to get our lives back together, bit by bit.
We both carry the guilt of trying to protect people and failing.
Karl, look at me.
Listen to me.
Trojan Five Four, critical shot is ready.
It's not Ayesha that pays.
It's the innocent people that have paid.
It's the kids that have paid.
It's PC Randall, Ali Hussein, it's fucking Nut.
If she dies, they're still gonna cover it up.
You know what? - I've run out of options, Lana.
- No, you haven't.
The dangerous thing about hope is that once it's gone, there's fucking nothing left.
You've still got hope.
- I haven't.
- You have got hope.
You've gotta listen to me.
You have got hope.
No.
No, Lana.
- Don't you dare.
- I haven't got anything.
I'm sorry.
- I'm sorry, Lana.
- Karl, please.
Armed police! Armed police! EXPO! - Everybody out.
- Wash, what happened? You need to move back.
Back! I just need you to hold on, OK? Nearly there.
Just keep holding, OK? Nearly.
We're done.
OK, we're good.
Wash? Lana.
Wash.
You can let go.
It's over.
It's done.
- Morning.
- Hey.
Morning.
What time are you in? Er, 10:30, I think they said.
These preliminary enquiries can go on for quite a while.
How are you doing? Yeah, I'm OK.
Getting some support.
Talking helps.
It does.
You should know, we found Karl Maguire's fingerprints on John Hudson's mobile device.
We believe that this is evidence that HE was sending you the texts.
Yeah, and that he manipulated John into calling a number that triggered the device at the university.
Maguire framed him.
What about the suicide attempt? Set-up.
No drugs or alcohol in his system.
He was knocked out.
I'd better go in.
Thom.
Ma'am.
Sam, you're up.
Take care of yourself, OK? You, too.
Sonya's inside, trying to explain what a twisted stranded wire is.
Ah, right.
And John Hudson is up and awake now.
He said he was using the A-Z as a way to track the bomber.
Wanted to prove he should have been made senior, not you.
His story checks out.
Er, King's Head pub round the corner.
I'm probably gonna go and sit in there and have a drink, or ten.
Yeah, I might see you in a bit.
OK.
Good.
- Er, good luck.
- Thanks.
- Hey.
- What are you still doing here? Well, that's no way to speak to someone who brought you coffee and a doughnut.
Thanks, Sonya.
Oh, half a doughnut.
Well, I have been here a while.
How you doing? Can't imagine how you're feeling.
Of all the people to trust it was After Nut died I was lost, and that's where I ended up.
I thought me and Karl had something in common, same experiences.
He did a number on you, on everyone.
There's no shame in it.
- Thank you.
- What for? Answering the door at 3 A.
M.
Having my back.
Well, any time, you know that.
Hey.
So what now? - Pub? - Plan.
