" A good way to set it off! - Yes.
- Oh, yes.
That was the setoff, season two right there.
- Indeed.
Indeed.
- Setoff season two.
My favorite part was bringing in the Indian culture into, like, a hip-hop vibe.
I mean, there was so many - Man! Unexpected transitions and pictures.
And then a really, really great choice of music, where it ramped up at the end and made everybody go nuts in here.
It was just fun.
Like, once the beat dropped-- Hey! Hey! I was like, oh, oh! [laughing] [grunting rhythmically] When it becomes this, you've normally done a pretty good job.
- Yeah.
- Almost lost my braid.
[laughter] It was so exciting.
And it was impeccable.
- Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
Thank you.
For one, the entertainment value from start to finish - Yes.
- Through the roof.
- Thank you so much.
Not only was it clean and precise Oh, my God.
It was paying homage to the traditional moves, while at the same time, bringing in the now and the new.
- Yeah.
- Yes.
Thank you.
That was pure entertainment.
When you think of, like, India, you think of that-- the symmetry.
You incorporated that in such creative ways.
And so I'm looking at our score pad here.
I got transitions, great.
You got cleanliness.
Nailed it! - Ooh! - Oh.
Crowd appeal? [cheers and applause] Nailed it! - Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you.
We're gonna lock in our scores and see if you made it through to the next round, okay? [One Direction's "Story of My Life"] I know that in the morning now I'll see us in the light upon a hill We good? Although I am broken Okay, guys, you need 80 or above to make it to The Duels.
Let's see what your scores are.
And I'll be gone gone tonight The fire beneath my feet is burning bright The way that I've been holding on so tight With nothing in between Story of my life [shouting, cheering] I drive all night To keep her warm Congratulations! [cheers and applause] I love it.
I love it.
The story of my life Oh I've been waiting for this time To come around [laughter, cheering] I will say one thing, you guys set a high standard for yourselves and for everybody else, so.
Keep it going.
That was awesome.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
That's how you do it! Yes! Congratulations, you guys.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
You beat Les Twins's qualifying score, and Les Twins won $1 million.
I love you guys so much.
- Thank you.
Thank you.
And I'm gonna be doing this all night Oh oh oh This is what I love about this show.
It's just seeing people fuse their culture.
This is international.
This is world.
I love it.
"World of Dance," baby, that's what it is.
[lively electronic music] That is what you call setting the stage on fire! I'm, like, emotional.
Wow.
All: Hey! Whoo! Sorry--I'm sorry.
You really touched our hearts.
[voice breaking] It was very beautiful.
This was the first $1 million performance we've seen yet! Oh, my gosh! [Frenship's "Capsize" featuring Emily Warren] Hello, guys.
All: Hi.
- I'm Sean.
- I'm Kaycee.
And we are a hip-hop fusion duo from Los Angeles, California.
How could you have ever known? How did you guys meet? We were actually both competition kids, so-- [laughs] So was this one.
I know all about that.
Yep.
Me and Kaycee actually met each other eight years ago at a dance competition.
Like, "golden plastic trophies was my life" competition.
Our parents awkwardly made us take a photo.
I just remember being like, "Okay, bye," and I had to go on stage.
Well, it was more like-- [high-pitched] "Okay, bye.
" Last year, we finally had a chance to work together as a duet for a dance video.
The moment we finished that video, I think I just found my new partner [mouth clicks] for "World of Dance.
" Dancing together really works well, and we kind of complement each other.
He's literally good at everything.
Not even good.
Like, he's basically like a dance genius.
All right, stop with the genius thing.
The level of competition is gonna be so much higher this year.
This could definitely be the beginning of something that's huge for us.
We're portraying who we are as dancers to the whole world.
I mean, it's making my hands sweaty already.
[dramatic tones] Announcer: Make some noise for Sean and Kaycee! [crowd hand-drumming] [music swells] [cheers and applause] Ooh, this is gonna be really good or really bad.
[Marshmello's "Silence"] Yeah I'd rather be a lover than a fighter 'Cause all my life I've been fighting Never felt a feeling of comfort All this time I've been hiding What? And I never had someone to call my own Oh nah I'm so used to sharing Love only left me alone But I'm at one with the silence I found peace in your violence Can't show me there's no point in trying I'm at one And I've been silent for too long I found peace in your violence Can't show me there's no point in trying I'm at one And I've been quiet for so long [cheers and applause] Yeah! Yeah! Sean and Kaycee! You really touched our hearts.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you.
The idea of not being able to see in a relationship - Yeah.
Being so close to somebody, but not really seeing them, and then taking that off and allowing them in-- [voice breaking] it was very beautiful.
- Mmm.
Yes.
- Thank you.
It's like, "See me.
" And sometimes, one person has to see the other part first, and then the other person gets that trust, and it happens.
And it's just-- it was so beautifully done.
- Thank you.
- There's a difference between good choreography and intelligent choreography, and that was so well thought through and so well executed.
Um, also, the timing.
I was trying to count some of those moves in there and your footwork, and I was like, "Oney and a twoey and a three-ee" - Yep.
[laughs] - It was so fast.
To well in this competition, you have to stand out, and right now, you guys are standing out as a couple.
Thank you.
[cheers and applause] Okay, when I saw the blindfolds, I said to myself, "Okay, this is either gonna be really good or really bad.
" Yeah.
[laughs] Me too.
But you did it, and not only blindfolded, but completely 100% in sync while blindfolded.
- Thank you.
- Man.
Who's choreographing by the way? - This guy.
[giggles] - Come on! Wow.
That's what "World of Dance" is about.
We're gonna lock in scores.
You guys ready? - Beautiful.
- Let's get it.
Both: Okay.
Choreography, 20.
That's what I gave it too.
[chuckles] [exhales] You need 80 or above to get into the next round.
Good luck.
[Cheat Codes' "No Promises" featuring Demi Lovato] Oh na na just be careful na na love ain't simple Na na promise me no promises Oh na na just be careful Na na love ain't simple Na na promise me no promises - Congratulations! - Thank you! I know it doesn't stop from here, but for now, it definitely is the ultimate validation for all our hard work.
We did it! [laughs] [lively electronic music] From the moment that you guys started dancing, I was like, "Ooh!" I love dancing, but you guys make me love dancing even more.
Whoa! [screaming, cheering] Come on! [all chanting] Go J-Lo! Go J-Lo! Go J-Lo! No--you don't Go J-Lo! Go J-Lo! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Hey! Whoa! Hey! Hey! Hey! [laughs] Whoo! Very rare, very rare.
That's what I'm talking about! Who's next? [dramatic music] Announcer: Make some noise For S-Rank.
[cheers and applause] - All right.
- Yes.
[YG's "One Time Comin'"] One time comin' One time comin' Oh oh oh Everybody start runnin' Oh oh Driving while black on some floss Gotta stay strapped stay cautious Young young ain't trying to see the coffin Oh oh oh One time got behind me, we all sick Hurry up put the put the in the stash Calm yo put your hands up You know how the law get Oh one time comin', gotta run from 'em 'Cause they might pull a on 'em One time comin', gotta run from 'em Oh 'cause they might pull a on 'em Told my daughter, Daddy love you When I left the crib Can't take the money with you So I iced out my wrist Thug, when I'm eating, don't interfere Maybach rear view mirror saw the one time comin' Yeah the one time comin' Yeah the one time comin' Oh oh oh Everybody start runnin' Oh oh oh Everybody start runnin' 'Cause the one time comin' Everybody start runnin' Oh oh oh everybody start runnin' Yeah the one time comin' [cheers and applause] Yes! Super stanky! - Yeah! That was one of the stankiest routines that I've ever seen - You make a face.
- That I've ever seen.
Literally from the moment that you guys started dancing, I was like [laughs] That's the face.
I was like, "Ooh!" It was so awesome.
You guys were so together - Absolutely.
- Really.
I know! You must have a strong leader.
That would be me.
You look familiar.
Were you here last year? Yes, I was here for last season with Chapkis Dance.
I wanted to do my own thing, and I wanted to make a dream team, and here we are.
- Who knew? Who knew you could choreograph like that? Look at you.
What does S-Rank stand for? S-Rank means "superior.
" It's a higher ranking than A.
There's S-class cars, S-rank superheroes, and these guys are S-rank dancers.
Yes! Your movements are short, but they're so effective.
You know what I mean? The subtleties.
The way you guys are just-- kind of the isolations.
And then you combine it as a team.
Then that's when you get that factor that's like, boom! It's incredible.
When the choreography is good, it makes the whole group look good.
Like, I can single out each and every one of you while you're all doing the same thing, and, like, nobody lost their identity.
But when it got here [all cheer] Hey! That was my part.
We're gonna lock in some scores and see how you did, okay? - Let's do it.
[Flo Rida's "My House"] Come on! Turn it up! - Versatility was stupid.
- Nuts.
- Are we good? - Yeah, I'm good.
All right, S-Rank, let's see how you did.
Tell me where you been Pour yourself something cold Baby cheers to this Sometimes you gotta stay in And you know where I live Yeah you know what we is Sometimes you gotta stay in in Welcome to my house [laughs] Shabam! Shabam! We don't have to go out Welcome to my house - Congratulations.
We'll see you in the next round.
Keep it coming.
Thank you so much.
We don't have to go out Welcome to my house [cheering] - Yeah! - Whoo! All: All that plus more! Welcome to my house You have permission to do that, but only if you kill it after that, you know what I'm saying? No, you kill it before - Before and after.
And then you go-- [rhythmic grunting] Because you know you killed it.
It's like - Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- We blowing their minds.
- You gotta earn those moves.
- Yeah.
- Absolutely.
That's how you do it! [lively electronic music] Whoa! He made a bunch of us cry.
You embodied what it is to be a dancer.
So, I'm, like, really shy, so it's kinda scary to, like, be competing against, like, all these amazing people.
[soft guitar music] My name is Jaxon Willard, I am 16 years old, and I'm a contemporary dancer from American Fork, Utah.
So, what song are you dancing tonight? I'm dancing to "Fragile.
" I just really wanted to show myself and, like, my story.
[projector rattling] When I was a baby, my parents adopted me.
So I grew up in an all-white family.
Our family wasn't complete until he joined our family.
I've never noticed I was "different" in the sense of skin color, until junior high.
I was teased and I was put down, and I felt that it was hard to be accepted.
They would make jokes or comments.
I've been called the N-word.
That was hard.
I started to dance as kind of a coping thing.
I see that it's therapeutic for him to express those feelings that sometimes aren't comfortable.
I think that's why he was given the gift of dance.
- I love you.
- I love you too.
This performance represents how I feel.
Yeah, I'm scared 2,6 but this is me.
[crowd hand-drumming] [music swells] Announcer: Make some noise for Jaxon Willard! [cheers and applause] [Kygo's "Fragile"] Crazy to think that a man can't hurt Love takes its toll every time It don't work yeah One door closes and another opens But I won't let go 'cause I'm not like him Baby just say the words Let the love begin Come take my heart of glass And give me your love I hope you'll still be there To pick the pieces up 'Cause baby I'm fragile Fragile, fragile 'Cause baby I'm fragile Fragile, fragile Whoa [cheers and applause] Wow.
Both: Ah! That was a very special moment you guys got to witness right there.
He made a bunch of us cry.
Thank you.
Obviously, there was an amazing emotional connection to this song, and I'd love to know what the story is for you.
I was adopted by a white family, and we live in a predominantly white neighborhood, and so I've always been, like, teased and, like, bullied about my skin color.
And so, I would always, like, suppress all my feelings and, like, keep them inside, until I discovered dancing.
And so, this song to me is kind of saying that, like, it's okay to be vulnerable, and it's okay to be sad.
[cheers and applause] Well, that is exactly what we all felt.
Thank you.
To allow that vulnerability to be seen, that is what is so beautiful, and I think captivated this whole entire audience I hope that you never lose that.
Thank you.
I personally am proud as hell of you.
I grew up in a house where my mother said to me, "If it feels good, smile, "if it hurts, cry, and never be ashamed or afraid to do either one.
" Because what a real man is is somebody that uses emotion and not runs from it.
Brother, I 100% feel you.
Great job.
Jaxon, you are-- you are beautiful.
- Yeah.
- Thank you.
Thank you.
The ability-- sorry, I'm, like, emotional.
You know, dancing-- wow.
Um the ability to have that emotion and have the brav-- the bravery to have those small moments, where you just were moving back, and you drew us in, and we were with you.
You embody what it is to be a dancer and a storyteller and a human being.
Thank you.
Who does the choreography for you? I choreograph all my own routines.
Come on, man! [cheers and applause] I was not expecting that answer.
Okay, hold on, we're just gonna do our scores real quick.
Oh-- [laughs] Crazy to think that a man can't hurt Love takes its toll every time It don't work yeah Okay, you need an 80 or above to get to the next round.
Let's see what you got.
And another opens But I won't let go 'cause I'm not like him Baby just say the words, let the love begin Come take my heart of glass And give me your love I hope you'll still be there [screaming, cheering] 'Cause baby I'm fragile [cheers and applause] Congratulations, my sweet little thing! We will see you in The Duels, and we cannot wait.
Thank you so much.
Whoo! - [screams gleefully] Fragile, fragile [muffled] I'm so proud of you.
To have him be validated in a way that I know sometimes he doesn't feel it was aw-- it was just awesome.
Dance is not just being able to move your body well; dance is being able to move people.
- Yes.
He didn't feel like he belonged there.
He belongs on this stage.
- Oh, yeah.
- He belongs here.
- He belongs now.
Word is out.
This is where you come to prove yourself as one of the best dancers on the face of the planet.
It happens here.
- Preach! Announcer: Hitting the floor next, it's Flip.
[dramatic music] [crowd hand-drumming] [music swells] Sun in the sky You know how I feel And I'm feeling good [upbeat percussive music] Whoo! Let's go, ladies.
[tempo slows down] Oh it's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling Good [cheers and applause] Flip, I love the pictures.
I love the formations.
It was all really clean and together.
I don't know how competitive it is, but I will say I enjoyed it.
- Thank you, thank you.
- I think you guys could be extremely competitive, number one because you're so locked into each other.
But it will have to have more diversity in it, I think.
I think in-between the popping and locking, sometimes what happens is there's not enough other dancing, and I think that's what you guys could incorporate.
Thank you.
I actually liked the contrast with the music and the choreography.
You guys filled the space with your own sort of accents.
It was, you know, oozing through it.
And then hitting it hard.
I really enjoyed that.
But as the routine progressed, the music actually didn't support you.
As much as what you guys were giving So I think if you guys go through, just think about that, 'cause everything counts, all right? Thank you so much.
Thank you.
All right, we're gonna lock in the scores.
Here we go.
[Calvin Harris' "Outside" featuring Ellie Goulding] All right, you guys, you need an 80 or better to get to The Duels.
Here we go, let's see.
Oh-oh Oh-oh I'll show you what it feels like Now I'm on the outside Oh-oh I'll show you what it feels like We did everything right Now I'm on the outside You guys made it through by the skin of your teeth this time.
You need to bring that power every single step, every single moment.
You guys can do it.
Yes! [laughter] - Congrats, guys! - Thank you.
This is only the beginning for us, and we're getting ready for The Duels.
All: Whoo! Start from the top.
[Fall Out Boy's "Immortals"] Both: Konnichiwa! Immortals Just not for long Oh, my gosh, nice to meet you.
We wanted to meet.
- Big fans.
We just wanna say thank you so much for just setting such a high example in the hip-hop community.
You guys are, like, total legends when it comes to modern new-day popping and locking.
[dramatic music] Announcer: Make some noise for Hilty and Bosch! [crowd hand-drumming] [music swells] [cheers and applause] Points for the suits.
Wait a minute.
[Pitbull's "Bad Man"] Now say it with me Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh - I'm a bad man I know how to move in a room full of woo's Yeah I'm a bad man, and I still fight every day Like I got nothing to lose, that's right Baby I'm a bad man in an evil world That's right Come on over, give me what I deserve Give it to me baby Are you ready for love? Come and get it girl Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh-ah Ooh-ah ooh [cheers and applause] All right.
Hello, Hilty and Bosch.
How long have you guys been dancing together? - 20 years.
- 20 years? - 20 years? - Oh, my goodness.
[chuckles] Yeah.
You know, I grew up with locking.
I used to watch it all the time.
You guys obviously have been doing it a very, very long time.
But we can't help but compare it to last year.
I do want to see a level of difficulty that is competitive.
With just the two of you up there, it's gonna have to be so much more interesting.
- You guys are kind of legends.
- Thank you.
But as much as I enjoy the performance, and I respect you guys, I'm wondering, "How is it gonna hold up in this competition?" - I gotta agree with you.
If this was just, "Let's just sit and watch and enjoy," you got me.
But then when I think, "Okay, this is 'World of Dance.
' "Some of the best dancers on the face of the planet "are on this stage, and everybody is primed for the same $1 million.
" So, for me, entertaining as hell, but is it competitive? I'm not sure.
I'm a little-- I'm on the fence.
[French Montana's "Unforgettable"] All right, guys, let's lock in our scores and see if you made it through to the next round, okay? It's not good enough for me Since I've been with you Okay, guys, you need 80 or above to make it to The Duels Let's see what your scores are.
You ain't enough for me - Thank you so much.
- Thank you so much.
We hope to see you back next year.
I need to be wowed.
If I'm gonna give you $1 million, you gotta get me up out of this chair.
I feel like it has to be better than last year.
[lively electronic music] This was the first $1 million performance we've seen yet.
What? That's what I'm talking about.
They came to play! The talent is unreal.
I've never seen anything like this before.
I love the fact that they have so many different styles.
[salsa music] [crowd hand-drumming] Announcer: Please welcome Karen y Ricardo! [music swells] - Yes! - Whoo! - Come on! - Whoo! [cheers and applause] They ain't messing around.
Holy cow.
The poise.
I love the poise.
[Ricky Martin's "Pégate"] - What is happening? - Both: Oh! - Oh! - Oh! What? Whoa! What was that? - Hey! - Let's go! - Yes! - Whoa! - What? - Whoa! What? Whoa! Come on! [cheers and applause] - Whoo! - Whoo! Whoa! Yeah! - Whoa! - Yeah! [cheers and applause] Sorry, sorry, I'm okay.
All right, let's go, let's go.
That is what you call setting the stage on fire! Gracias.
You must have been dancing together for a while.
Since you were nine years old? Oh, my English is very bad.
Sorry.
[laughs] You tell me in Spanish, I'll translate for everybody.
[both speak Spanish] They are getting married.
Oh! [cheers and applause] Yo, that wedding dance is gonna be lit! Honestly, we've seen a lot of salsa dancing on this stage.
That was just on another level.
Thank you.
My favorite part was when you guys came forward.
You were like, "Let's go!" - They came to play.
- Unbelievable.
I was like, "Yes! Let's go!" Oh, my God.
The intensity and just the in-between stuff, this is what I'm always talking about.
It's not justall the crazy stuff.
It's the stuff in-between, where you really are digging in and feeling it.
And it's coming from inside your soul, and it's what you do, because it's what you love, and you can't do anything else.
I love dancing But you guys make me love dancing even more.
Oh, my gosh! Thank you so much.
Um, man, you guys are dancers, but you guys are competitors.
- Ferocious.
Boom, straight out of the gate.
Boom, trick, we're already, like, locked in.
Then the control into the split.
And then, of course, the classic but a beautiful variation of the pot-stirrer.
[rolls tongue] Here, right? - Thank you.
Which, by the way, I've tried that, and, like, it's difficult, but the guy, for you to stay on in that perfect circle to support her is incredible.
And you, while you're turning, you're smiling.
You're like, "This is awesome.
" - With a smile? Smile? [laughter] Halfway through, I would've stopped smiling.
What's happening? From the beginning of the thing, he flipped her around his head 92 times and then dropped into a split, and you didn't see it in his face one time.
[laughter, cheering] In my personal opinion, this was the first $1 million performance we've seen yet.
[cheers and applause] You should be so proud of yourselves.
Let us do our scores, so we can see where you land on the board.
I mean, technique, choreography, creativity.
Come on now.
[Kygo's "Kids in Love"] Okay, guys, let's see what your scores are.
We were kids in love And then we grew up That's what this is about.
That's what this is about.
I love it! We were kids in love One last time One last time And wherever you go Yes! [laughs] Oh, my gosh.
You guys That was our highest score ever in the history of the competition.
I jumped off the damn desk.
[chuckles] - [laughs] - You I totally forgot I did that.
I just remembered I did that.
Whoops.
You did do that.
- Gonna be a good season.
- Yeah.
- Thank you guys so much.
- Thank you, guys.
You were a great audience.
Thank you.
[lively electronic music]
