Z Nation (2014) s04e06 Episode Script

Back from the Undead

1 Are you okay? Previously on Z Nation I think I'll call her Lucy.
Lucy? Lucy? Lucy? Lucy? - You've grown.
- Yeah, that happens, regardless of whether you're there for it or not.
He's bit.
[MUFFLED.]
Warren.
- How's he doing? - Not so good.
[CAR ENGINE ROARING.]
- [THUMP.]
- [MOANING.]
Hey, can we slow it down a little? - [MOANING CONTINUES.]
- He's still with us.
[MOANING.]
Where are we anyway? Looks like we just blew through what's left of Eerie, Indiana.
I spent some time there pre-Apocalypse.
Good people.
Kinda weird, but man they like to party.
Lieutenant Warren? Watch out for that - [GROWLING.]
- [THUMP.]
[MOANING.]
Zombie.
[MUFFLED SOUNDS.]
[ELECTRONIC BEEPING.]
Warren, I know it's the Apocalypse and all, but could you maybe slow down a little? - [MUFFLED SOUNDS.]
- [ELECTRONIC BEEPING.]
[TIRES SQUEALING.]
[MOANING.]
What the hell, Warren?! Where are we going? [MOANING AND GASPING.]
He's going into cardiac arrest! [ENGINE REVVING.]
He don't look so good.
Thanks for the diagnosis.
Stop the car! Warren! For the love of Pete and Pete, pull over! [CRYING.]
It's ok.
It's ok.
[CRYING.]
Lieutenant Warren? Lieutenant Warren? Warren, stop! - Warren! - [BRAKES SQUEALING.]
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
We've got a ticking man here.
He might turn any minute.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Who said anything about turning? I'm fine.
See? [VOMITING.]
[ELECTRIC GUITAR THEME MUSIC PLAYS.]
Have mercy - [TWO GUNSHOTS.]
- [THUNK.]
Oh, have mercy.
[VOMITING.]
Let's get him inside.
Zombies! Six o'clock! - [GUNSHOT.]
- [GROWLING.]
- [GUNSHOT.]
- [GROWLING.]
[GUNSHOT.]
- [GROWLING.]
- [GUNSHOT.]
Eight thousand one.
[GROWLING.]
- [MOANING.]
- How is he? Who knows? He's a walking petri dish.
- Help him! - There's not much we can do.
He's not gonna turn on us, is he? What is he talking about? Don't worry.
We got your heart started again.
That is, if it was beating in the first place.
You've been in and out of consciousness, man.
- [MOANING.]
- Hey, maybe you're still immune.
I've been cured six ways to hell and back.
That's gotta be good for something, right? I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't think you're out of the woods yet.
Maybe we should uh I know.
I was thinking the same thing.
[DOC AND 10K WHISPERING.]
What are you two talking about? Nothing, you know, just precautions.
What are you doing? We can't just let him turn.
We need to restrain him.
What? No! No! Warren, tell him to stop.
Oh, he's crashing again.
There he goes.
[CRYING.]
No.
I don't feel a pulse.
[CRYING.]
No.
We have to save him.
I know what you're thinking, but - I have to try! - Lucy, don't.
- I got a pulse.
- [GASPING.]
Bite him again.
Bite him again.
[CRYING.]
I'm not dead yet.
[CRYING.]
No, you sure aren't.
Lucy, I think it's working.
That Mad Z bite is looking better.
[CRYING.]
Somebody better shut up these Zs before we draw more of a crowd.
Lieutenant? I'll go with you.
- Need help? - No, we got it.
Stay here with Murphy in case he needs help.
Don't be a hero.
- [GROWLING.]
- [GUNSHOT.]
[GUNSHOT.]
[MUFFLED GUNFIRE AND GROWLING CONTINUE.]
Square key, two grooves.
Square key Come on, Murph.
[SLAPPING.]
Stay with me, man.
Doc, Doc, stop slapping me.
Sorry.
Warren? [MUFFLED GUNFIRE AND GROWLING.]
Aww man, I hate it when we split up.
[MUFFLED GUNFIRE AND GROWLING CONTINUE.]
There.
How you feeling? Actually, better.
Thanks to my little girl.
That's so weird.
What is, Luce? My hands are all wrinkly.
[MOANING.]
- Hey, go easy.
- I'm fine.
[VOMITING.]
Well, I'm better.
Lucy.
- Yeah, I know.
- My baby.
What? Oh, okay.
So, so I've changed.
I grew up.
I mean it's happened before.
It's just me.
It's my business.
Did this have something to do with you aging? - No.
- Yes.
Now Lucy, be honest.
What difference does it make? You're alive, aren't you? It's killing you.
You can't do that again.
Promise me.
You are not the boss of me.
Lucy, I am your I'm your father.
That means your life is more important than mine.
Your life is more Blah blah blah.
Why won't you let someone save you for once, Mister Savior of all Mankind.
Not anymore.
- Lucy? What is it? - It's - It's Warren.
- Is she in trouble? I think so.
Something's really strange.
Well she hasn't been herself, that's for sure.
Are you guys okay? Just a little M and M.
- M and M? - Mayhem and Mercy.
- Where's Warren? - That's a good question.
- She's on another one of her walkabouts.
- Something's wrong.
We need to find her.
She went out that door.
Go see if she needs backup.
I'm gonna stay here with Murphy and Lulu in case she comes back.
Roger.
Clear.
What's that smell? Death? No, worse.
I smell something living.
[CLANK.]
This way.
[CLANK.]
- That doesn't sound good.
- Warren.
You should go help them find her.
What about you? I'll be fine.
Really? I promise.
[CLANK.]
And no biting.
Go.
[CLANK.]
[THWAP.]
[RATTLING.]
[ELECTRONIC BEEPING.]
[BEEPING.]
[RATTLING.]
[LABORED BREATHING.]
- You look just like your mother.
- [GROANING.]
Except blue.
- Her name was Serena.
- I know.
Addy told me.
So, you've heard the story.
Two versions of it, Addy's and Doc's.
Don't trust either one.
What is the truth? Uh, your mother was living with a group of women for for self-protection.
That was four years ago, and things were still wild.
What does that mean? Means we thought we were gonna die.
There was no tomorrow.
We lived for the day.
Oh, so you guys just hooked up? Where did you hear that? Addy.
Same place I hear everything.
She was a good friend.
We all went through a lot together.
Extenuating Did you love her? Addy? I suppose, I mean in a way.
No, my mother.
Not at first.
- It was - It was the Apocalypse, like Addy always says.
When your mother and I saw each other again, you were born.
She was fiercely protective of you.
She fought like a Honey Badger to save you.
Maybe that's why I always want to hurt someone.
No.
I don't think that was her nature.
I think the zombies just brought out her motherly instinct.
Hey? She would've been very proud of you.
Yeah.
But she died.
Protecting you.
Some things Some things are worth dying for.
You know what no one's ever explained to me? What'd it mean, "there was pie?" [SIGHING.]
[GASPING.]
[MUFFLED SOUNDS.]
[ELECTRONIC BEEPING.]
[BEEPING.]
[HISSING.]
[CLICK.]
[THUD.]
Left hands.
Feet with and without toes.
Assorted ears.
Human? Zombie.
That's appetizing.
[GROWLING.]
I don't know who's responsible for this, but I don't like them.
Roger that.
Did the Lieutenant bring us here on purpose? - [RATTLING.]
- Wait, shh.
[RATTLING CONTINUES.]
Did you hear that? Yep.
What do you think it was? [LABORED BREATHING.]
Take your pick.
[CLICK.]
[CLANK.]
Doctor Caligari? [MOANING.]
Daddy.
No, Daddy.
Please don't leave me.
Please.
[MOANING.]
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
- [YELLING.]
- [MOANING.]
No, you don't.
Stop right there.
But you will die.
Then I'll die.
But you got to save yourself.
Daddy.
Promise me.
- No.
- Promise me you won't bite me.
[CRYING.]
No.
[CRYING.]
Lucy.
[CRYING.]
You're the only thing I ever cared about in this whole world.
[CRYING.]
Besides me.
[CRYING.]
You're one of a kind.
[CRYING.]
Unique in the whole world.
[CRYING.]
So do it, okay? Don't bite me again.
[CRYING.]
Promise me.
[MOANING.]
- [CRYING.]
- [MOANING.]
[MOANING.]
[MUFFLED SNARLING.]
Ugh, great.
More scientific shenanigans.
You give a guy a lab coat and he'll screw things up every time.
[SNARLING.]
10K? Warren? [GROWLING.]
What? I can't unsee that.
Eww.
Can't have too many of those.
What in the zombie hell were these people up to? Why does it always got to be some crazy evil shit? Can't we for once just find a bakery? Maybe a working doughnut shop? Fully stocked dispensary? I mean, is that too much to ask? [LABORED BREATHING.]
Somebody there? [LABORED BREATHING.]
- [LIGHT ROARING.]
- [CRASH.]
Oh shit! Oh, not fingers.
Anything but fingers! [HITTING.]
Die! Die, fingers! [YELLING.]
Die! Die, fingers! Die! [HITTING CONTINUES.]
[YELLING.]
Die! Die, fingers! Die! [YELLING.]
Die, fingers! Die! [SPLATTING.]
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Oh.
What the hell?! What the hell?! [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Get out of there! Where you going?! [SCREAMING.]
Help! Help! Help! - Doc? - [SCREAMING.]
Get it out! It's us.
What's wrong? What's the matter? Get it out! Get it out! I can't deal, man! Get it out! What's wrong? Get what out? I got a zombie finger inside me.
What the fubar is that? A finger got in me.
Get it out! I can't deal, man.
I got a thing about fingers.
I'll have to cut it out.
I don't care if you have to cut off my legs.
Just get it out.
- Hold him down.
- Doc, hold still.
I can't! I'm getting fingered! It's moving too fast.
Hold on.
Hold on.
[GROANING.]
Okay, I got it.
Cut it out! No! Cut it out! [SCREAMING.]
- Oww! - There it goes.
Look out! Die, muthafinger! Die! [SPLATTING.]
Is it dead? Dead, dead.
Yeah, I don't like fingers.
I know, Doc.
[MOANING.]
Are you okay? I got two finger sized holes in my belly.
[SPLAT.]
Sorry, last one.
Where were you guys? We were looking for Warren.
But we heard you screaming for help, so we came back.
- Shh.
- [RATTLING.]
Right before I broke that finger jar, I heard something.
Something breathing.
[RATTLING.]
[LABORED BREATHING.]
[LABORED BREATHING.]
What do you think it is? Judging by our surroundings, nothing good.
Seems as afraid of us as we are of it.
Where's Warren? Through that door.
Well, don't shoot.
Who knows what you're gonna wake up.
Maybe we can go around.
- [LABORED BREATHING.]
- Oh, I don't think it likes it.
[LABORED BREATHING.]
- [ROARING.]
- Watch it.
- I see him.
- That thing is big.
Hello.
Looks like we got ourselves a freak.
Make that a super freak.
[ROARING.]
What is it? I dunno.
[ROARING.]
Looks like some kinda damn Franken-Zombie.
[ROARING.]
[THWAP.]
[SMACK.]
[SLICE.]
[SCREAMING.]
[ROARING.]
[CLUNK.]
[ROARING.]
[WHISPERING.]
Why am I here? [WHISPERING.]
There must be a reason.
[WHISPERING.]
There must be a reason.
You're okay.
You're awake.
[WHISPERING.]
It's okay.
I'm so glad you're here.
Have you seen our baby? What? Our little Lucy.
Have you seen her? She was just here.
Oh Serena, she's so beautiful.
I think you're making a mistake, Daddy.
I know, Mommy.
I should never have left you alone and pregnant.
I'm so sorry.
The biggest mistake of my life was breaking up our family.
[CRYING.]
It's okay.
It's, it's It's okay.
You don't need to worry about that, okay? I don't think our little Lucy's ever gonna forgive me.
And who could blame her, leaving her with strangers like that.
[CRYING.]
She'll forgive you, okay? She'll forgive you.
But she turned out okay.
She's so strong.
And brave.
And blue.
Where is she? She was just here.
She was just here.
She's gonna come back really soon, okay? [BOTH CRYING.]
Really soon.
[CRYING.]
Did you ever think you could love another person so much? [CRYING.]
No.
[CRYING.]
She's the best.
You're not so bad yourself, my little baker.
[CRYING.]
What's happening? [CRYING.]
[MOANING.]
[LAUGHING.]
Blueberry pie.
[CRYING.]
No, no, Daddy.
No, no.
[CRYING.]
Daddy, what's happening? No.
[CRYING.]
Daddy, no.
Daddy, please no, no.
[SCREAMING.]
Doc! Warren! Somebody help me! [ROARING.]
[GLASS BREAKING.]
- [ROARING.]
- [HITTING.]
[THREE GUNSHOTS.]
[ROARING.]
[AUTOMATIC GUNFIRE.]
Did that zombie just shoot at us? That ain't no regular Z.
[ROARING.]
[CRYING.]
How is this supposed to work anyway? Oh, God.
[CRYING.]
You can't do this.
You can't leave me again.
[CRYING.]
You can't leave me again! - [ROARING.]
- [GASPING.]
[ROARING.]
[THWAP.]
[SMACK.]
- [ROARING.]
- [GASPING.]
(WARREN) Charlie? Charlie Bleaker, is that you? [LABORED BREATHING.]
You are Charlie, aren't you? [LABORED BREATHING.]
Where is Doctor Caligari? [LABORED BREATHING.]
Do you understand me, Charlie? Is Doctor Caligari alive? [LABORED BREATHING.]
Where is he, Charlie? Where is Doctor Caligari? - [LABORED BREATHING.]
- [MUFFLED.]
I'm here.
Where are you, Doctor Caligari? [LABORED BREATHING.]
[MUFFLED.]
I'm right in front of you.
I feel great.
Hey, Lucy.
Hey Lucy, wake up.
I'm cured.
It's all because of my Lucy? Is it you? Your little Lucy.
Oh Lucy, what have you done? No.
It's all right, Daddy.
It's okay.
[CRYING.]
I can feel you again.
What are you doing here? We came to see you, Doctor Caligari.
How do you know my name? Your office.
I saw a picture of you and Charlie.
What do you want? Do you know me? Come closer.
No.
I've never been here before? I'm certain you've never been here before.
Then how'd I get this? That was locked up in my office.
Yeah, and somehow I knew the combination.
But I don't know what this is.
If you knew what I know, you'd be a very dangerous woman.
She already is a dangerous woman.
[SNARLING.]
Just saying.
What happened to you? My knowledge exceeded my wisdom.
We were experimenting with grafting zombie tissue onto humans, hoping to pass on their superior genetic qualities.
A love of brains? Immortality.
That's insane.
In retrospect.
[GROWLING.]
What about Charlie? How did you two happen? Charles and I were bitten by one of the other assistants [MUFFLED GROWLING.]
Who became infected and turned.
[MUFFLED GROWLING.]
It was too late to save Charlie.
But I managed to chop off my own hand [SLICE.]
- [MUFFLED SCREAMING.]
- before the infection spread.
After Charlie was mercied, I used my limb grafting discovery to attach his zombie hand to my arm.
His zombie hand became part of my body, passing on his natural zombie immunity.
But something went wrong.
Instead of his hand becoming part of my body, the zombie cells grew out of control.
I knew Charlie was growing from the hand, taking over my body as its host.
That was five years ago.
This is all that's left of me.
Why would someone send me here to find this? You'll have to ask them.
[GASPING.]
We got to go.
Wait.
I need something from you.
[WHISPERING.]
We give you mercy.
[TWO GUNSHOTS.]
[CRYING.]
Don't cry, Daddy.
[CRYING.]
I'll try not to.
It's all right.
[CRYING.]
How are you feeling? I can hear my heartbeat.
[CRYING.]
I can feel it.
It's all right.
It's okay.
It's almost over.
[CRYING.]
Don't say that.
I had a good life.
My life.
I promised Addy that we'd all stick together.
[CRYING.]
I'm right here.
I'm right here.
You tell Addy I tried.
[CRYING.]
[CRYING CONTINUES.]
[CRYING.]
Let's get her out of here.
["GOODBYE JULY" BY MISTY BOYCE.]
