the loneliness became unbearable.

and I thought maybe,

there was a way.
If I wanted to be seen,
to be held, to be me,
I could skip my stop
and ride up to the university
where I thought Gibbs might be studying.
But if I saw him,
what would I say?
It was too dangerous.
And yet,
I had to do something.
And so I remembered Bunny's advice,
and I let my mind drift back to
the tastes and flavors of home.

I thought I'd make something special.
A recipe from home.

This is Chinese soup.
How did you learn to make it?
My grandmother had a Chinese neighbor.
I should finish cooking.
Children will turn if
they don't eat soon.
ELEANOR: I was determined to
keep my memories of home alive.
And although it was a risk, it
was one I was willing to take.

ELEANOR: But the truth
was finally sinking in:
I could never go back again.

but this nursing program

I know how lonely it can be when
you first arrive from the islands.

after reading about that,
and the idea that everything
is connected to everything else
if you only go back far enough.

that there's a university in
Edinburgh that specializes in geology,
