I don't know if this brought us any nearer to victory against the Japanese, but it gave the Black Sheep something to think about in their spare time.

But the enemy lost more.
And Rabaul was still there.
It was never destroyed.
The enemy kept re-supplying it until finally the war bypassed Rabaul.
And it was cut off from the rear.
The Gibraltar, the Pacific never fell.
Black Sheep survived it and so did I.
We would always remember what we'd lost.
