howie: Jackie evancho proved That we could get a star from Youtube.
Tonight live, let's find another Superstar.
announcer: Live from Hollywood, this is "america's Got talent.
" Now, here's your host, nick Cannon.
[cheers and applause.]
nick: What's up, america? It is "america's got talent - The youtube special.
" Oh, it's live up in here, too.
Okay.
And the talent is out there.
Thousands of acts posted videos On youtube.
America voted, and the judges Judged.
Tonight, the best 12 acts are Bringing it to the big stage for A spot in the semifinals.
For most of them this is the First time ever that they've Performed in front of an Audience, and we're live, so There's no retakes, no second Chances.
They have to nail it the first Time or they're going home.
And right here are the three People who watched those Thousands of videos.
Give it up for piers morgan.
[cheers and applause.]

[cheers and applause.]
Wait a second.
That's not a boo, piers.

nick: Clearly, you drank your Hater-ade again.
piers: It was clearly a loud Boo from the audience.
nick: This is what a boo Sounds like.

nick: Last year the youtube Show found jackie evancho, and She was the biggest-selling Debut artist of 2010.
Mr.
Piers morgan -- piers: Yeah -- nick: One who knows all, do You think we have any hidden Stars coming up tonight? piers: This is my favorite Show because anything can happen Tonight.
We have only seen these acts, Remind everybody, on the Internet, on youtube.
We've never seen them do an Audition.
We've never seen them perform Live.
Some of them have never Performed outside of their Living room.
Here they are in front of Millions of americans, a big Studio audience, the judges.
And just from what I know about Some of these acts, some are Pretty good.
Some have the potential to go Horribly wrong.
So I would say we are in for a Roller coaster night.
I'm very excited.
And the prize, as you said about Jackie, is enormous.
We found one of the biggest new Stars in america last year.
This night, this show, the Youtube special, so anything can Happen.
And it's going to be great.
nick: All right.
Well, let's get to it.
Usual rules apply.
Only four acts will be moving on To the semifinals.
Here's our first youtube act.
It's clogging.
It's tnc elite.

we are tnc elite, and we're Bringing clogging to hollywood.
we're different than Traditional cloggers.
We design our routines around Modern music.
it comes together to create One unique type of music.
most of us lead normal Day-to-day lives.
criminal defense attorneys.
most of the kids are in College, but we all have the Same passion for clogging.
howie: You don't think of Clogging as the big craze now, But they were able to combine Clogging and contemporary music, And that's kind of interesting, Unless you live downstairs.
Then it's, like, I gotta move Out of this place.
The kids upstairs, they won't Stop clogging.
piers: We put this group Through because we see a glimmer Of hope.
But they've got to really Deliver, because no cloggers Ever won "america's got talent.
" clogging doesn't get as much Respect as other dance forms Because people aren't familiar With it.
once we take the stage and They hear the sound and power we Have, I think they're going to Change their minds.
[applause.]
nick: From charlotte, north Carolina, give it up for tnc Elite.
[cheers and applause.]
nick: Tnc elite! Clogging up the place! Piers, how did they do? piers: Uh, I thought that Wasn't bad actually.
I'm not a massive clogging fan.
We've had one great clogging act Before who did really well.
I thought a bit of the Choreography could be a little Tighter.
Um, as a general impression, First time up on a live show With all the pressure that I Talked about before, I think That was pretty good.

nick: Right on.
Sharon.
sharon: Well, traditional Folk dance mixed with Contemporary music, does it Work? I don't know.
I don't know whether all that Clogging was citing the music.
And when you clogged without Accompaniment, I thought it was A bit better actually.
piers: I thought it was Better with the music.
I thought it was the complete Opposite.
sharon: To me I thought it Was fighting each other.
I don't know if this is going to Be the latest dance craze across America.
I don't think so.
But you're very good at what you Do.
You're very professional, and It's great to see that you Performed -- you performed Really, really well together.
It's a good strong team.
piers: Yeah.
nick: Howie.
howie: My thing is that I Think you're gonna need, in Order to go on to do more, I Think that you're probably Really good cloggers, but just To be a really good clogger is Not enough.
You've got to do something Spectacular, and that just Seemed like a tap dance recital.
Yes.
These people don't know clogging Like I know clogging.
I don't know why they're Laughing, but the truth is that You need to do more.
The bar has been raised this Year on "america's got talent.
" It looked good when I saw you on Youtube and I saw all these People clogging, like "lord of The dances.
" sharon: Lord of the clogs.
howie: Now that I saw, it's Really good on youtube.
nick: Well, I don't know, I Kind of disagree with the Judges.
I can see them clogging in a Club.
I could see that happening.
[cheers and applause.]
We can do that.
Droppin' it low and clogging.
I can see that.
What do you guys have to say to The judges? I'd like to say that we are Proud to be cloggers.
And what we do is definitely Contemporary clogging.
And we perform in front of Thousands of people who want to Do what we do.
And I think america's going to Fall in love with it.
nick: Right on! Well said! Cloggers can get gangsta, too.

I am 50 years old, and I'm an Illusionist.
It's exciting to be here in Hollywood.
Last week I was wondering what I Was going to do with the rest of My life.
I started magic when I was 15 Years old.
It's my obsession, so I enjoyed A lot of success in magic.
I got some great theaters I Performed at, casinos.
I took a step further and Invested all my money in some New concepts and, you know, I Lost it.
I'm here to try to reinvent Myself one more time.
howie: He is not a young man.
It is tough.
If he doesn't make it now, There's a good chance he won't.
tonight I'm bringing back Something I haven't done in 15 Years.
Marilyn monroe.
Anything could happen.
It could go wrong.
I mean, it's happened before.
My dream is re-energized, alive Again.
I have a lot riding on this.
[applause.]
nick: With his tribute to Marilyn monroe, from milwaukee, Wisconsin, here is brett Daniels.
[buzzer.]

nick: That was incredible.
Where's she at? That was incredible.

sharon: Sharon? sharon: I'm just asking howie Where she went.

Yes.
I liked the whole premise of the Act.
I liked the whole marilyn Schtick.
I liked that.
But the presentation was a bit Slow.

sharon: And why were you Talking to marilyn before she Went? telling her to go.
sharon: Okay.
I was just checking on that.

nick: Howie? howie: I think the -- the Magic, the illusion that you Chose is incredibly original.
I'm wondering if the performance Was -- are you happy with your Performance? I am, yes.
howie: And you thought it Went -- went well, yes.
howie: Well, if you thought It went well, you probably -- I Don't know that it went well.
It didn't go great for me, but I Like the idea and I see Potential.

howie: But I don't -- I think There's a couple little -- nick: Piers, you buzzed him.
piers: How can you not know If it's gone well? I mean, it's a magic trick.
You either like it or you don't? howie: Well, I know that Marilyn disappeared from the Picture.
Then she showed up.
piers: That's a trick.
howie: I know it's a trick.
I don't think the performance -- What are you questioning me? piers: You don't make any Sense tonight at all, as usual.
sharon: We've only just Started.
piers: I've already had too Much.
Brett, here's the thing.
The trick was fine.
It's an old trick.
You know that.
It was well executed.
I saw no mistakes.
My issue was the middle bit.
I buzzed you because I got Bored.
If you're going to be a Vegas-style magician, it's got To have pizzazz, movement, Speed, dynanism.
Can you stop? He's got one of those fart Machines.
These guys are performing for a Million dollars.
nick: And howie's farting.
piers: I think it's pathetic.
I really do.
I think it's disrespectful to The acts.
nick: So finish your point, Mr.

I knew right from the start that Gabe was special.
Gabe was a pretty modern man and He's a good guy to have around The house.
He is polite enough to flush the Toilet.
Open the fridge, bring me milk, And keeps everything nice and Neat.
Here in hollywood, gabe is Getting that extra special Treatment.

hopefully, he's not going to Have it go to his head too much.
sharon: We don't have an Animal act and that's why we Need gabe.
gabe's a big fan of the show, But I think he's been upset by Piers' heavy hand on the buzzer.
piers: Anyone who thinks gabe Is going to get through to the Semifinal is barking up the Wrong tree.
one of the tricks he's doing Tonight is one of the most Difficult ever.
Only a couple of dogs have ever Done it.

I thought it was poorly Coordinated, poorly Choreographed.
There was a lot of flying Through the air, missing things, Falling over, a lot of tumbling.
It just -- no.
piers: No, no, I saw it.

nick: Piers, I don't think You want to mess with these Dudes.

No lacking in confidence.
You have big egos.

You -- you see this all the time In parks and at venice beach and Whatever.
You know, it's very clever, but It was very repetitive for me.
That's what bothered me.
So, I mean, you're well-fit, Lovely young boys, but Repetitive.
Too repetitive.

howie: I totally disagree With both of them.

I think -- here's the thing.
I'm a fan of park roar and free Tumbling and missing objects is What it's about, piers.
You're not supposed to hit it Because then the act stops.
But I love that you blended that Sport with music and dance and You created a show.
And what you usually see in Parks, you brought it to a stage And you made it a show and I Thought that was edgy and new And original and I like what you Did.

There's a lot that goes into This.
We work really hard to train our Bodies to do what we can do.

she was in dance class and a Teacher came out of the room and Said you need to come look at Breena.
She had her feet on top of her Head and said look what I can Do.
that's how I became a Contortionist.
howie: You know, when I saw Her on youtube, my biggest Question was does this young Child have bones? I'm excited to see her live.
sharon: She's a little girl In a big person's contest.
you can do this with a bunch Of people in here like you're Performing.
I have to remember like where To stand.
This is really difficult.

Our next act has dreamed of Making it since he started in Sixth grade musicals.
He is kevin colis.

I'm 33 years old.
I'm from new braunfels, texas.
I've been playing music for 21 Years.
I've always felt that music was Meant for me, but I got to a Point when I turned 30 that it Just didn't seem possible for Me, so I gave up on music.
It was always just this Emptiness inside, that burning Desire just never went away.
My fiancee is actually the one Who signed me up for this Competition.
She taught me to believe in Myself.
piers: What I like about Kevin is he's got emotion to his Performance.
You know, anyone can sing well, But to have a soul as you sing Is crucial and he's got that.
to sing in front of a Computer is one thing, but being Here is almost overwhelming.
you have to remember you're Not singing to one webcam.
You're singing to 14 different Cameras.
I'm definitely struggling Right now.
This is my last shot, and I'm Going to go for it.

You only ever performed to a Webcam.
Suddenly millions and millions Of americans -- I could see you Were nervous, but how you were Feeling? I feel incredible.
I'm incredibly humbled by the Amazing talent that's up here, And I just feel blessed to even Have this opportunity.
This is everything I could have Ever dreamed for.

piers: Well, here's the Thing, kevin.
I think you've got a good voice.
I think the stage craft can be Worked on, but I'm allowing for The fact you've never done this Before, and we haven't even seen You audition.
I think you have talent.
And I disagree with howie.
The singing category is not as Strong as it's been.
You could be two songs away from A million dollars.

nick: Wow! All right.
Sharon? sharon: Kevin, you've got a Really, really great voice.
And so strong in the higher Register.
It's a really strong voice.
And I thought considering you Have never done this before, the Performance was really good.
I mean, if this is you Performing nervous, I mean, wait Till it becomes like second Nature to you.
You'll be phenomenal.
I must agree with piers.
I don't think we've got many Great male singers this year.

my name is beth ann robinson And I'm from dothan, alabama.
I guess you could say I'm a Southern girl.
I like to get all prettied.
Nail polish! But I also have two older Brothers, so I go horseback Riding, four-wheeling, hunting, All that crazy stuff.
When I submitted my video to Youtube, I didn't think I was Actually going to be on the Show, and it's amazing to think That I'm one of the few that Were picked.
My dream is to be a dancer, and This is my chance.
My dance style is really Intense.
It's definitely unique.
I am nervous because this is Totally different from what I Usually do.
this isn't performing for mom And dad.
This is performing for all of America.
So really project out.
We want to see everything that You have to give.
howie: It's always a big Challenge for a solo dancer to Fill the stage.
Will this kind of dance appeal To america? We're about to find out.

So, piers? piers: I think the show's Warming up.
I thought that was really good.

You're technically a brilliant Dancer.
My question for you, I guess, is Can a solo like this win a show Like "america's got talent"? It's difficult.
It's not going to be easy.
But if it comes down to Dedication and to technique and To having grace and soul, then You've got a chance.

sharon: Yes, beth ann, you -- When you move, when you dance, It's effortless.
You float through the air.
Your technique is superb.
You are a very special young Lady.
At 14 to be able to move like That and also the great feeling, Emotion, that you put into your Dance, it's exceptional.

And the expertise, it just looks Like you eat, sleep and breathe Dance.

It's the ultimate test.
One audition to millions of People.
everything is pinpoint Accuracy.
our routine is very Dangerous.
Everything is based off of Balance and coordination and Timing.

our athletes are going to Rely on their precision and Their accuracy to narrowly Escape midair collision.
We have not done this before.

When I was a kid, my mom had a Disability.

When things weren't going well At home, all I had was a Basketball.
When I was feeling most alone, I Would take my basketball and go To the local park.
I had the basketball ball in my Hand.
All my worries go away.
Feels like I'm in my own world.

piers: We put this group Through because we see a glimmer Of hope.
But they've got to really Deliver, because no cloggers Ever won "america's got talent.
" clogging doesn't get as much Respect as other dance forms Because people aren't familiar With it.
once we take the stage and They hear the sound and power we Have, I think they're going to Change their minds.

sharon: To me I thought it Was fighting each other.
I don't know if this is going to Be the latest dance craze across America.
I don't think so.
But you're very good at what you Do.
You're very professional, and It's great to see that you Performed -- you performed Really, really well together.

howie: My thing is that I Think you're gonna need, in Order to go on to do more, I Think that you're probably Really good cloggers, but just To be a really good clogger is Not enough.
You've got to do something Spectacular, and that just Seemed like a tap dance recital.

I don't know why they're Laughing, but the truth is that You need to do more.

My fiancee is actually the one Who signed me up for this Competition.
She taught me to believe in Myself.
piers: What I like about Kevin is he's got emotion to his Performance.
You know, anyone can sing well, But to have a soul as you sing Is crucial and he's got that.
to sing in front of a Computer is one thing, but being Here is almost overwhelming.
you have to remember you're Not singing to one webcam.
You're singing to 14 different Cameras.

When I submitted my video to Youtube, I didn't think I was Actually going to be on the Show, and it's amazing to think That I'm one of the few that Were picked.
My dream is to be a dancer, and This is my chance.
My dance style is really Intense.
It's definitely unique.
I am nervous because this is Totally different from what I Usually do.
this isn't performing for mom And dad.
This is performing for all of America.
So really project out.
We want to see everything that You have to give.

Watching the show at home, I got A call.

" He seems to have taken what has Worked in past years and Combined many acts.
it's break dancing on a bike.
Totally has a place in vegas.
The next trick I do takes up a Little more space.
Tonight what I'm doing is a Little more dangerous.

Doing the trick tonight in the Dark is completely taking my out Of my comfort zone.

I've only done this trick once Before, and tonight I'm doing it In front of all of america.

Singing in the choir was never This cool when I was in school.

baby, you're a firework we are powerhouse! we entered the youtube Competition with no idea we Would end up here.
we're all really excited.
powerhouse is a show choir Based in burbank, california.
We get together.
We learn songs.
We all sing them every single Day all day every day.
All of our friends are like stop Singing that song.
It's just so good.
I can't.
the writer of "glee" came and Watched our choir perform and Was so inspired he created the Show.
sharon: Show choirs are so in Right now.
I like powerhouse choir.
Great bunch of kids.
I think these kids might make it Through.
being one of the inspirations For "glee" is really great, but Now we have our time to shine.
We've competed in really huge Competitions before, but this is The real deal.
We're really excited to take it To the next level.

It is the cheesiest thing I've Ever seen.
