Bellevue (2017) s01e07 Episode Script

Episode 7

1 How did you know there was someone in your house, Lily? Lily: He left fingernails! You know something about Sandy's death.
Sid: They were talking about some mess they were in.
Man: I've been prepping for this mess all day.
Annie: Did you destroy evidence? You let me think that my dad had an affair with a teenager and it was you! He's dead! I'm alive! Virginia: The video's taken the night Jesse died.
That means you weren't at home.
That means you can't alibi Tom.
Annie: He's finding a temporary situation.
Some desperate girl who'll fall over herself to be with him.
Eddie: You don't have to feel pain to be with someone.
You don't have to drive someone to the edge of fucking sanity.
(Fighting grunts) (Guttural scream) Who are you?! (Door opens and shuts) (Footsteps thud) Hey! Eddie! (Door handle rattles) Come on, Eddie.
Oh, come on! Just open the fucking door.
(Slams) - Please! - (Starts engine) Eddie! Hey! (Rumbles off) (Footsteps thud) (Exhales) (Door slams) (Sighs) (Rain patters) I'm so sorry about last night.
Classic Annie Ryder.
Well, you got into a fight, too.
It's not like you're that evolved.
I'm trying, Annie.
Why is that a win for you? It's not.
I'm just trying to, to make a change.
And I don't know why you won't let me.
(Rain patters) I have a brother.
- I just found out.
- What? What do you mean you have a brother? His name's Adam.
He's nine years older than me.
He thinks I'm his only family.
He's pretty messed up.
- Well, how do you know? - Did, did you see him? I went to dad's fishing cabin.
Why the fuck did you go there? He's messed up how? I don't, I don't know.
I don't have the answers.
Jesus.
I don't think he's my mom's.
My parents were only together for a couple of years before they had me.
Is he fucking dangerous? (Rain patters) (Sighs) (Keys clack) (Keys clack) (Beeps) Tom lied.
His alibi is bullshit.
You said you didn't pick Jesse up.
But we know you did.
We can place Jesse in the white truck.
We're getting a warrant to check your phone, GPS, scrub down your truck.
Your best chance is to tell us what happened before the evidence comes back.
My best chance, huh? Wow, that's great.
That's uh that's appealing.
Tom, have you been drinking? (Emotional exhales) If there's an explanation that's gonna get you out of a 25-year-prison sentence, I'd get into it.
Virginia: You picked Jesse up Yeah.
Okay.
I picked him up.
But I I didn't hurt him! What did you do? B-Bethany was freaking out because of the fight at the, at the scrap yard, you know.
And ah Lily asked me to pick Jesse up, and uh, meet her at the church.
Virginia: Can anyone confirm this? Father J.
(Sighs) The mayor, the priest and the hockey coach all saw Jesse the night he was killed.
And lied about it.
Bring them in.
Hey.
Are we gonna have a problem here? Not if you keep it clean.
(Searching through Police scanner) (Static crackles) (Slurps) (Flutters) (Through Police scanner) Brady: Hey Ryder, I'm sitting outside Father J's.
I'll let you know when I have Mother.
(Static crackles) (Objects clatter) You know I, I really hate to do this I didn't know anything about this conversion therapy.
Mother: Bethany called me.
- From the scrap yard? - Yes.
She, Jacob and Max had apparently been trying to help Jesse.
It was misguided, obviously.
It was time some adults got involved.
(Door opens and shuts) How did you end up at the church? Jesse called just after the scrap yard.
Mother said to meet her there with him.
Just, just to talk.
And, and what did you talk to Jesse about? We were worried about him.
Father J: We tried to tell him he was on the wrong path.
Brady: Because you feel that your path is the only path? We told Jesse how much the people of Bellevue loved him.
Annie: How they loved Jesse so much, that they electrocuted her to get her to reject who she really was? The world is the world.
If he didn't open his eyes, this was just gonna keep happening to him.
Tom: We got there around 12:30.
We left just after one.
You sure about that? Yeah.
I heard a bell, it chimed once for one.
So you talked to Jesse.
Obviously it didn't go well.
Then what? Jesse go back in Tom's truck? - No.
- I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
What? No! He didn't get back in my fucking truck.
- What? - Father J: He ran out.
Jesse was seen in a white truck later that night.
Are you saying that wasn't your truck? The church was the last I saw of him, okay? I swear.
Annie: You have to understand that it looks bad that you didn't tell us any of this before.
The town needed its leaders to be strong.
We didn't want Bellevue to know that we'd failed Jesse right before he He was seen alive after we met.
I absolutely would've come forward, but it just didn't seem relevant.
Are you fucking kidding me? Peter: Seeing a dead kid on the night that he died didn't seem relevant? Can I have the room? (Door opens and shuts) You know me.
You know everything about me.
Yes, I do.
Hey.
Ah last night it was ah k-kinda crazy.
I'm sorry I ah - Yeah, me too.
- Yeah.
He says Jesse ran away.
Yeah.
So did Jameson.
At least they got their story straight.
Well, Tom says he heard a clock chime one, right before they left.
So they took Jesse to the church to talk? (Skeptical) Yeah.
You can talk anywhere.
(Wind gusts) (Footstep thud) (Clunking) (Clunking) (Footsteps thud lightly) (Clunking) (Bell tools) - (Sign clunks) - (Chain rasps on the window) (Wind gusts) (Bell tolls) (Door shuts) (Footsteps thud lightly) Mother: People watch everything Tom: You gotta snap out of this.
(Hushed overlapping talking) Tom: Appreciate the courage.
Mother: You can ask too much of them Tom: There'll be consequences to that beating.
Mother: Should never, never have happened.
Annie: Someone was at the church, they saw everything.
The clock that Tom thought he heard was a door chime.
(Bell tolls) Someone else was there the night Jesse was killed.
I talked to Jameson.
He says that door's open in his office whenever he's working late.
In case anyone needs solace, day or night.
- So the chime is an alarm? - More of an alert.
Although he doesn't even hear it anymore.
Peter: Tom's phone GPS came back.
It supports his story.
We checked against cell towers and shows that he didn't go any further than the church and his home.
And the lake is no where along that route.
Can I see that? So Tom has an alibi for Jesse's death.
Jameson doesn't drive.
And Mother doesn't own a white truck.
So Jesse truly ran off.
But he was still seen in a white truck later that night by Danny.
Then, I guess we're looking for a second white truck.
Shit.
All right.
Well, let's expand the radius of the truck search to Sudbury.
Maybe the killer lives further a field than we thought.
The chime that Tom thought was a clock was a door opening.
Someone was there.
Someone? Well, okay but we have no idea who.
So again, we're nowhere.
Could we put this photo out there.
See if anyone's seen it.
My office.
Shut the door.
(Door shuts) What is this? He looks just like that.
My riddler.
His name's Adam and I'm pretty sure he's my brother.
What? You didn't know anything? About my dad having another kid.
No.
Maybe you did.
Maybe you didn't.
Maybe you fucked a teenager and tampered with evidence.
Maybe you're still with her.
He's not in the system.
Probably uses a different name.
I don't think he knows who killed Jesse.
Knows who killed Jesse? He's the prime fucking suspect, Annie! Come with me.
(Footsteps thud) (Door opens) (Muted overlapping whispers) Eddie: Pretty cool town, eh? Wouldn't be a bad place for us to live.
You know, we came here before, when you were a baby.
Just you and me.
I took you to this ah chicken restaurant.
You were one and a half.
It was the first time I was ever, like, feeding you by myself.
And I ordered you this whole chicken dinner.
And the waitress and everyone is staring at me like I was such an idiot.
But you know, when that chicken came, you ate the whole thing.
The people were staring.
They couldn't believe this pig baby was packing all this food away.
It was like you knew I was embarrassed and you weren't having it.
Guess we grew up together, you and me, huh? - Sid: Who's this guy? - Annie: It's him.
That guy is a cop, man.
Have you seen him? - No.
- You sure? You think if I had an answer that could get you two lunatics to leave me alone I'd lie right now? Get out of here.
How about you guys.
You see him around? Vincent: Sorry, kitchen's slow today.
What? "I've been prepping for this mess.
" This mess.
The mess.
Not this mess.
The mess.
As in military slang.
We had the employee list, but we missed something.
Hey! We need to see your kitchen.
- Why? - Right now.
I need the names and numbers of everybody who works here.
Vincent: Look I'm not the owner.
Okay? I gave you what I have.
People come and go.
Who is this? That's Bobby.
Just quit.
- Bobby who? - Storms.
Dishwashers, man.
Holy shit.
It's like your dad cloned himself.
B&E, assault, arson a few times.
He likes fires.
Gonna have to issue an APB.
He's been in and out of prison basically for years.
Until a few months ago.
I guess that's when he came back.
(Peter reads) "Mr.
Storms is a reclusive individual "who is known to be difficult to communicate with.
"Previously attended military school "from the ages of 12 to 16.
" That's where he's been.
Jesus.
(reading) " Mental issues, anger issues.
" He's been from institution to institution.
He has no one.
Well, I saw Clarence stick up for some bad guys 'cause of their tough lives.
He never gave up on people.
If he sent his own kid away, then he had reason.
He's been invisible his whole life.
So you gonna tell me where you saw him or not? Daisy: My dad's being weird.
I think he wants us to move and forget everything that happened here.
But I don't want to.
Bethany: Sounds like my mom.
But, um I'm not going back to the way things were.
I kind of wrecked it.
(Self-conscious chuckle) I did it for Jesse.
I think she'd like it.
So let's give her some.
- Anything? - Peter: No.
(Footsteps crunch in the snow) Hang on.
Who'd have a campfire up here? Annie: Where are you? On the path above the cabin.
Annie: I'll be right there.
(Footsteps crunch in the snow) (Scissors cut) (Bethany chuckles) - I like coming here.
- Me too.
(Footsteps crunch in the snow) (Fire sizzles) (Footsteps crunch in the snow) There's tire tracks.
I'll be right back.
(Foliage rustles) (Birds chirp outside) Young Adam: Annie.
Don't tell anyone we're in here.
Look up.
(Shivering exhales) Adam: (Muted soft singing) - (Annie giggles) - Shhh! I love you.
Nikki: Adam! Adam, open the door.
Open the door, Adam! Now! Clarence: Adam! Open the door.
You can't keep doing this.
Come on.
Go away! - Nikki: He's gonna hurt her.
- Clarence: Adam! I'm serious! - Nikki: He's crazy.
Adam! - Clarence: Open up! Nikki: Open the door! Young Adam: They'll die.
Everyone will.
We're all that will be left.
Or maybe we'll have to die for that to happen.
You're mine.
You're mine.
I love you.
You're mine.
(Screams, splash) - Daisy! - (Screams) - Daisy! Daisy! - Help! (Phone buzzes) Hello.
What? Peter! It's Daisy! (Running footsteps crunch in the snow) You're my whole heart.
I know.
You say that all the time.
What you saw with Briana I'm so sorry.
That's not a version of me I ever want you to see again.
Then don't be that way.
And if you say you miss me all the time, stop being gone all the time.
Okay, baby.
(Light clicks off) Is she okay? Annie: Yeah.
She's in the water where Jesse drowned.
Eddie just told me that the doctor gave her antibiotics.
Apparently there is a bacteria in that lake.
The killer and Jesse struggled.
They both would've ingested the water.
If the killer was in the lake, they might have needed the same drugs afterwards.
It's called (reads) nitazoxinide.
We should get a warrant for pharmacy records.
I can't.
I've gotta stay home.
Can you? I'll call Brady.
I'll talk to you later.
"At 7 o'clock, "where the hypocrites weekly, wear the mask of good.
" Anything from your brother? I had a memory.
Did he hurt you? No.
We were in the closet together at our old house in French river.
It was weird.
He was really possessive.
I think it's why my dad sent him away.
'Cause he thought he might hurt you? But I don't think he would've.
Well, they must've thought he was dangerous.
Maybe he wasn't then.
Maybe he just he wanted me all for himself, somehow.
He needed to know every second that I was all his.
How do you know all this? 'Cause it's what I'm like.
Isn't it? With you.
I love you too much.
And I need to push you, to make sure that you're mine every second.
When you turn away, or don't answer in a way that I think bleeds pure love, I feel pain and this need to pull you away from everyone else in the world.
That is what I do to you, isn't it? 'Cause I learned to love from a crazy, obsessed guy in a closet.
That isn't how it's supposed to be.
Is it? (Heavy breathing) (Heavy breathing) (Heavy breathing) (Heavy breathing) Eddie: I'm leaving, Annie.
I'm taking Daisy.
We can do this together.
And change.
We can put all our fucked up choices behind us.
We can lock them all in your childhood home.
We just never look back.
If you don't come with me I'll fight you for her 'cause I've gotta get her out of here.
(Door slams) (Footsteps thud) (Cutlery clinks) (Ominous music) (Footsteps thud) (Coughing) (Loud thud) (Coughing) (Door creaks open) (Footsteps thud) (Door squeaks open) (Rasps open) Wasn't you that was supposed to be here.
How does it feel, you fucking lunatic? How does it feel not to be in control? Just listening to your voice tells me that you are out of control.
Oh, I'm fine.
Mostly because I've got a gun on you.
(Small chuckle) As soon as these people clear out of here, I'm gonna take you up to your boy scout camp and I'm gonna shoot you in the face you piece of shit.
A 7-year-old girl you fucked with? A 7-year-old kid? Not a man with a gun? You can try all you want, asshole.
You know, you could just arrest me now.
But then that wouldn't satisfy your violent urges, would it? - You're fucking right about that.
- Yeah.
There's just one thing I'd like to say, before this all ends happily for you.
What's that? (Muted whispers) (Door bangs open) (Locks click) (Gasps for breath) (Door echoes shut) (Effort grunt, wood splinters) (Effort grunt, wood splinters) Adam: "A lion has come to lay waste to your land.
" (Hammer clinks) (Chains rattle) Hey.
Any, ah, word on that patient list from New Horizons? No.
I told you it was gonna take a long time.
What about the pharmacy records for the antibiotics? No, not yet.
Virginia: Annie.
Anthony Greene? The guy who burned Jed's truck.
- Yeah.
- This is his bank account.
I've been watching it since he disappeared.
- So? - So a $1000 went into it yesterday.
And see this? The deposit has a police source code on it.
How do you know that? I used to work for confidential sources unit.
He's a CI? You can't do that without Peter.
You can't access someone's CI codes without (Wind gusts) (Footsteps thud) Brady? (Approaching footsteps) Hey, Ryder.
Hey.
I called you like, five times.
Ah, yeah.
Shit.
The antibiotics stuff.
Sorry.
Anthony.
He's your CI.
I looked up his number, he's all over your arrest warrants.
What the hell? You knew we were looking for him.
Yeah.
Well, he ratted out Jed.
He was gonna end up at the bottom of a lake.
So you're still paying him, out of the kindness of your heart? Yeah.
What else would it be? Well, where is he then? I don't know.
(Small laugh) Look, this is a mess.
Why don't I meet you at the station.
We'll check on the antibiotics.
Are you going somewhere? - Camping.
- Oh yeah? - Where? - Green point.
I just gotta pee real quick.
Okay.
(Door squeaks shut) Who are you going with? Brady: Couple of buddies from high school.
Bit of a reunion.
Oh yeah, sounds like fun.
How long are you going for? (Truck rumbles away) (Doors open) (Light clicks on) (Footsteps crunch) (Light clicks off) (Grunts) (Door rumbles up) (Exhales in disbelief) (Wind gusts) (Phone rings) Peter: Hello, this is Chief Peter Welland.
Leave a message after the beep.
(Beep) (Heavy breathing) Peter oh my (Screams) Ryder, what do I do? Why did you come here? I, I don't know.
Drop your weapon, slowly.
Okay.
Shh! It's okay.
Look.
(Gun clanks) Everyone knows where I am.
Bullshit, you never tell anyone where you're going.
If you try anything, we will go to your house and I will kill Daisy.
You were the other person at the church that night? With Tom and Mother? Ahuh.
(Laughs) I wasn't with them! But you saw what happened.
Did they hurt her? Not physically.
(Laughs) They act like they can help.
Mother: This should never have happened.
We're so sorry.
We want you to know that we're here to make sure this never happens again.
Nothing like this will ever happen to you again.
You're important to us, you're important to this town.
Tom: There's gonna be consequences.
- I got your back.
- Mother: We'll take care of this.
And then they're all you can't go to the cops.
These are our kids, they're-they're your friends, the hockey team.
Mother: We can do this behind closed doors.
The whole town doesn't need to know what happened.
But you gotta understand is they were trying to help.
They beat the fucking shit out of me.
- Father J: All right.
- Mother: Excuse me? Tom: We've done nothing but trying to help you.
- They're your friends.
- They're not my friends.
Friends don't do what they did.
Mother: This is not about you.
This is about a community.
- We're trying to support you.
- Don't touch me! We're trying to help you.
We need you, you are our star, and (Laughs) We're worried about you and your future.
If you dress like this, there is gonna be consequences as well.
All this shit, man! It went on and on and on.
Tom: I put my life on the line for you to be the star player I think you could be.
Mother: None of this would have happened to you, you little shit, if you had learned to control your behavior.
Brady: Kill these freak urges that you feel inside of you.
Tom: Stop looking like a princess! Pull yourself together, Jesse.
You're acting like an abomination.
Jesse: You don't get to fucking talk to me like that! Stop being a fucking abomination.
He's beyond help, so far beyond.
He's a lost cause.
Brady: Kill these freak urges that you feel inside of you.
But they are you.
So hate yourself because there isn't room for you here.
I can't imagine what it must have been like to hear all that.
No! Don't! Get in the fucking truck! - Come on, Brady.
- Get in the truck! Now! (Truck rumbles) (Handcuffs clink) You made a lot of good decisions.
Getting Anthony to burn Jed's truck.
Planting the earring on Jed's lawn.
That was smart.
Keeping the white truck off the registry It's Briana's.
It's registered in Sudbury.
And hey, she didn't know anything.
But then you stole the drugs from Eddie, cause Anthony told you Eddie had them.
Of all people.
My Eddie.
You must've known that I'd find out.
You know me, I never stop.
Why would you do that? On some level you wanted to get caught.
'Cause you're a good guy.
I'm right, aren't I? No.
I don't know.
You didn't go to the church intending to hurt anyone.
Why did you go? I wasn't doing so good.
I ah, I, I just needed to talk to Father J for a second.
You know you have a reason, one that makes you human.
Not a monster.
Yeah.
Have you ever have you ever loved something so much, that you, just want to protect it or possess it? I don't know I don't know I don't know, Ryder.
You just want to own the other person.
But you know, you know it's messed up.
You know that it's wrong.
I've never seen you care about anybody that much.
Not anyone except I get that love.
In some ways because I'm like that.
And in other ways because I was loved like that.
Am loved like that.
By my brother.
(Laughs) You don't have a brother, Ryder.
Yes, I do.
He scared my parents because he loves me too much.
So they kicked him out when I was young.
But once you've been loved like that so intense and crazy, but so honest.
It's like a high.
It is honest.
(Crying) But she hates me for it.
- Briana? - (Crying) (Moans) It must have felt like they were talking about you, in the church.
Like they were judging you.
It's why you picked up Jesse, right? You were just trying to help? I just wanted to let him know that he wasn't alone.
They're people out there everyday that are struggling with shit.
Every day and those church assholes, they have no idea how hard it is.
They don't know what it's like to have these feelings.
Some days you can't control it.
You try to maintain it, but it's just too big, you know.
It's too much.
(Sighs) I have been in love with Briana for as long as I can remember.
My sister.
(Big exhale) You're just like Tom.
You want me to be you.
Briana: I don't know what's wrong with me.
But I always have a way of provoking every guy that I date.
It's like No.
Don't.
Don't.
Don't.
You deserve better than that asshole.
Oh, Briana.
That's really nice.
(Sniffles) Brady! What the fuck?! Oh my God (Crying) Jesse: You're so fucked.
You're all so fucked.
We're not the same.
What was that? I'm not who you think I am.
Briana: My God.
What's wrong with you? I'm not you, okay? I'm not you.
Brady: I'm not sick like you.
You mean sick like me, is that it? Sick like me? It that what you're saying? You little shit! He woulda told everybody, Ryder.
Brady.
Don't look at me anymore, Ryder.
Don't look at me anymore! (Tires crunch) (Engine hums) Brady.
- You brought this on yourself.
- Okay.
Just - (Door slams) - (Clinking) (Nervous breaths) (Engine hums) Annie: Brady, this isn't you! Come on, Brady! (Cocks gun) (Engine roars) (Glass cracks, Annie screams) (Tires squeal)
