You know, when we drive down the Strip in the car, we see a whole lot of people for a very short time, but it's nice to get out on the street and walk because you can observe people a little bit longer, and a lot of times you get into things that you wouldn't normally get into if you were just driving by.

The biggest things that I've learned since I've been out here, and I tell a lot of newer guys this, is you can't take anything for face value.
Nine times out of ten, the way something comes out is completely different than what you find on scene, so as soon as you get there, you just got to talk to everybody and wait for the story to unfold.
We're en route to a large fight in the street right now.
Apparently there's about ten, 20 people engaged in a fight down here, and they're supposed to be several parties on the ground, so we'll be en route.

We cussing, you know, and we exchanging words or whatever.
No threats or anything, but I'm trying to tell him, you know what I'm saying, I'm trying to stop talking to him so he can calm down or something.
'Cause I ain't trying to argue.
That's my daddy, you know what I'm saying? Birthday today.
But he kept on going, and that led to another, man.
Then he got to the point where he wanted to fight.
He didn't walk down the street, you know what I'm saying? He talking, he took my phone, took my keys, threw my keys, broke my phone.
Just got a $200 phone, and he broke it.
So you're saying you hit him though? I mean, how'd he get his mouth bloodied? I did hit him, but before I got to it, I did not have the first word.
He pushed me, so I pushed him.
He kept putting his hands in my face, hands in my face.
He pushed me again, so I slapped him, okay? That's not how he got his mouth busted open though.

He kept on going, so then I hit him.
And then he fell on the ground.
That's exactly how it happened.

And then he came back, pulled some stuff, some wires from his phone in his car, and then that's what started the fight.
But he kept pushing his dad, so his dad didn't have a choice but to hit him back.
Has either one of them been arrested for assault on the other before? Oh, yeah.
How long ago was that? Not even a year, I think.
Not even a year? Which one was the aggressor? Do you remember? He was.

He told me the dad shoved him first.
From what I can gather speaking with him, he said, "Man, I tried to give him every chance to get out of my face, to quit pushing me.
" He said, "He pushed me twice, rubbed his hand in my face three times.
" He said, "After that I had to do something.
He wasn't gonna stop.
" From what I understand as well, you know, he grabbed his son's phone and keys Threw it out in the middle of the road.
took off down the road.
He said he broke them.
Broke them on the side of the road and that got the son inflamed, you know, and his son goes up, starts talking smack to him.
That's when the dad starts pushing him, and the son, in retaliation, basically self-defense, to get his dad off of him.
I mean, you can see even us, we've had problems with this gentleman.
We need to get him in the back of a car.

Yeah, it's nice living here in Portland where you can get to Mount Hood, which is only about an hour away and they got year-round skiing, or head over to the coast, do some crabbing and lots of fishing over there.

We're driving along, and I see the guy on a bike with no light on the front going the wrong way, and my partner sees that he just did this hand-to-hand with this guy.
So I flip around to go out with him, and the second I go to get out the car door, he just starts taking off on the bike.
Like, oh, he's running from us, flip around.
He cuts down 141st, and my partner's out the window like, "Hey, you're not getting away.
Stop.
This is ridiculous.
" And he looks back and goes, "I didn't do nothing.
" He a known guy that's been selling dope out here off his bike? No, he's just a guy who just happened to ride his bike without a light, and I just wanted to tell him to put a light on his bike, and it turned into this huge deal.
Yeah.
Well, plus he caught a new dope charge, so All right, well, hey, thanks for helping out.
I'll get him some water.
So I kind of came up at the very last, and these other guys were actually chasing you-- how did this all start? Just that one dude.
That one was the only one that was able to keep up.
How'd it all start? Well, I've got like, a fear of cops ever since my mom flagged one of you guys down when I was a little kid and you guys fucking carried me off to my house.
Okay.
And I was three years old.
I went in foster care.
You guys busted my front door and arrested my mom and my dad because they had a meth lab.
But what happened tonight? I got freaked out.
I found this bike down by the park, and I just got freaked out.
I didn't know why the fuck you guys were stopping me.
Nobody knows me out here.
So you just take off running? Yeah.
All right, so then what? If you guys would've been like, "We just want to talk to you" and somehow guarantee I wasn't going to jail, then yeah, I would've talked to you, like, in a heartbeat.
You can't always make that kind of guarantee.
You guys just, like, stop right in the middle of the road, turn on your lights.

Stop on the side, like, pull over real quick.
Yeah, and you would've stopped? Yeah.
