Finding Bigfoot (2011) s01e01 Episode Script

Bigfoot Crossing in Georgia

On this episode of "Finding Bigfoot" for over 50 years, the remote woods of northern Georgia have been a hot spot for bigfoot activity, with hundreds of documented encounters.
Now, the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, led by Matt Moneymaker, journey to Georgia to investigate the latest piece of evidence, a never-before-broadcast police video that some believe is photographic proof of the Sasquatch.
The investigation leads the team to a small town on the edge of Georgia's Chattahoochee National Forest, where shocking new eyewitness accounts result in a remarkable discovery.
These look like toes.
There's a track that, from 10 feet, you can see is a footprint a large footprint.
This might just be the real deal here.
As the team closes in on the truth, they're joined by volunteers from the BFRO in an effort to determine, once and for all, if bigfoot exists in northern Georgia.
Hey, you guys, it's Delta car.
I definitely, definitely have a hit.
Come over here and check it out, you guys.
It was impossibly large.
It definitely wasn't human.
I've been tracking Sasquatches for 25 years.
These animals, in fact, are real.
I've seen them.
They're here.
I'm having a really difficult time finding an explanation for this.
There's something on the hill! I do think there's a 'squatch in these woods.
The team and I have traveled across the country to rural northern Georgia for one reason only to determine if bigfoots exists in this lush region of the country.
This wide-open part of the state offers the perfect combination of small farming communities surrounded by vast tracks of national forest.
This is just the sort of place we've come to expect bigfoot sightings to occur, and this is where our latest report comes from.
Georgia's Chattahoochee National Forest has long been known as a hotbed of bigfoot activity within the bigfoot research community.
In fact, petroglyphs produced by the earliest Native Americans that lived in the area depicts them interacting with a bigfoot-type creature.
So when you take the centuries of documented encounters in conjunction with almost a million square miles of untouched and unpopulated forest, you get a location that is very likely a bigfoot habitat.
But, primarily, we're investigating a piece of footage that came from a dash cam from a state trooper vehicle.
I can very, very easily articulate that.
Mm-hmm.
It's a classic road-crossing sighting at night, and it's the first time that's ever been gotten by a law-enforcement's dash camera.
The police didn't really do anything about it afterwards.
There was no laws apparently broken, so there was no need to do any kind of a police investigation.
All we have from the incident is the video.
Looking at the footage, you can actually count the steps one, two, three steps brought it over the white line on the left-hand side of the road.
The speed of the creature while it moves across the road seems very quick, but we won't know for sure until we get somebody in the same position to see if we can re-create it ourselves.
I think there's a very good chance that what we're seeing in that video is a real Sasquatch.
It's my opinion that this is a hoax, and this is somebody in a suit, but I'm with you guys.
We got to get some scale, and we got to prove it one way or another.
A common observation amongst witnesses, when they see one, it looks like it's gliding, like it's almost like a human on a bicycle.
You see the legs moving, but the shoulders and head hold fairly steady.
I have to say, see that here, as well.
Yeah.
It's not clear enough to definitively say it is or isn't a Sasquatch or a person in a costume.
We came here to see if this video was of a guy in a monkey suit or was it the real deal was it a Sasquatch that they filmed? We're going to meet Mary Scott.
She was the passenger in the state trooper vehicle when the footage was obtained.
We're gonna take her back to where that was and ask her to tell us everything that happened from her perspective.
So the incident happened right near here? It did.
Actually, we were traveling this way, and it happened right before that guardrail.
I think we should take a look, walk down there.
Okay.
Okay.
- So, this is it? - This is it.
It appeared to cross right here.
We were coming this way about 55 miles an hour.
It was pitch-black, so it seemed like we were doing 100.
It was so late at night.
There was not another car on the road.
All of a sudden, with no notice whatsoever, this very tall, very furry, very fast creature comes from that side of the road.
What the crap? Did you see that? Yes.
Shoots down here.
We're, of course, going too fast to stop immediately, so we hit the brakes, spun around, immediately came back.
The officer puts on the blue lights.
We jump out of the car.
The officer had a big gun drawn, and he's identifying himself.
Whatever it was was gone.
I was shocked when I saw it because it was so big, and normally, in north Georgia, animals jump out, but it's either usually deer, occasionally a black bear.
Uh, that's it nothing that large and standing so erect and running so fast.
So, we know that there are a lot of black bears here, but this thing was on two legs the entire time? I have seen black bears.
I've had two even run across in front of me before.
No comparison.
None.
What I gathered from Mary Scott is that she firmly believed that they saw a Sasquatch.
At no point did she even bring up the possibility that this was a person in a costume.
She also just outright dismissed the possibility that it was a bear.
After meeting with Mary and coming to this location and seeing the layout, we would be crazy if we didn't try to re-create it and see if it could be a prank.
The way we're gonna do this reconstruction is we're gonna get a car of the same size, and then we're gonna drive at the same speed and have Bobo run across the road.
We're hoping to shed some light on the size of the creature, the speed it was traveling, and also where it was coming from and going to.
Okay, I just finished setting up the camera and the recorder inside the car.
Ranae you're gonna be driving about 55 miles an hour.
Matt, you monitor it, and then I'm gonna be signaling Bobo when to run across the road.
Hopefully, what we can do here is get a simulation of the dash-cam video itself and see what we can learn from it, basically.
And we'll make certain to coordinate so no one gets run over.
- Great.
Let's go, guys.
- Sounds good.
I'm really glad we got to come here in the daylight and see it ahead of time so we know exactly where to go and what to do.
A little light goes a long ways.
Yeah.
All right, guys.
So, you're on the road, ready to be the bigfoot.
Bobo's always ready to be a bigfoot.
Been training my whole life for this role.
Matt, please let us know when you're in position.
We're rolling.
Okay, we're past the intersection and we've got guardrails on the side.
She's trying to get up to speed.
We're at 40.
And to the guardrail, so 100 feet from the first mailbox and coming around the bend.
Another mailbox, and now! I didn't know Bobo could move that fast.
Yeah.
Yeah, if that was a hoax, that person waited till the last second, 'cause that was kind of sketchy running out that close to the car.
Did you see him book? Yeah, I'm thinking once those images are compared side-by-side, we're gonna start to see some unusual things, and that will show that this thing that crossed the road is even less likely to have been a human in a costume.
I've run in front of cars at night before, but I was always naked.
Here we go.
Okay, here we come.
Coming up.
There's the first mailbox coming around, second mailbox and now.
Oh, there you go.
Did you notice how the bounding movement looks different than what you see in the footage? - Yeah.
It glides.
- Exactly.
It glides real well.
Well, I'm definitely leaning towards this is a Sasquatch on film, and I can't be 100% sure, but I think the context of the situation, with Mary's excellent eyewitness accounts.
There are two telling signs for me that this was a bigfoot.
First, the figure's stride was effortless, while Bobo lurched with each step.
Second, when you pause the video, you can see that the figure's legs are basically the same length as Bobo's.
Sasquatches have different body proportions compared to humans.
Their legs are shorter comparatively than humans, and their arms are longer, so if the legs were the same length, that would make the figure at least six inches taller than Bobo and closer to seven feet tall.
The question for me isn't "Is it a Sasquatch?" The question for me is "Can a person re-create that?" Yes, a person could.
That thing ran kind of bent, hunched, smooth.
It wasn't bouncing up like I was.
I think that was a real 'squatch.
All right, this is what we'll do.
Down here we have a place where a 'squatch crossed the road it crossed from the right to the left.
We can split up into two teams.
You and I will go down the path that the thing came from.
Cliff and Bobo will go down along the path where it would have gone.
We'll go down there, we'll make some sounds, we'll see if we can kick up some action.
We're using thermal imagers and night vision devices.
Night vision devices turn night into day.
We can see the road ahead of us, and we can see up to the edge of the tree line, but with thermal imagers, we can see into the tree line and see if there's any bigfoots hiding in the shadows behind the brush.
So there's been several reports within a few miles of here.
Oh, yeah.
Very "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" here, man.
Yep.
Heads up.
I'll know when we're in a good spot to make vocals.
I think we're too low right now.
We want to be able to hear even the faintest little crunching sounds, and you can't hear that very well next to the moving water.
I'm game.
Let's go.
We realized we had to get up on elevation so our sounds would carry a good, long way, and we got to a point where the sound would carry out almost, you know, 360 degrees.
The theory is that broadcasting these calls will draw in any Sasquatches from the area.
Okay, I'm gonna do one long howl.
Roger.
Hit it, maestro.
That rocked.
I didn't know you had it in you, Cliff.
That was pretty cool.
That sounded like a real bigfoot.
I practice in the shower.
My neighbors hate it.
Yeah.
Some people sing in their cars.
I do bigfoot screams.
I'm scanning.
We got no owls and no coyotes and no nothing.
It suddenly got a lot chillier.
It did.
Oh! Did you hear that? Do you hear something in that direction? I heard that.
Was that farther back? I do think there's a 'squatch in these woods.
Awesome.
There's nobody up there.
I think that was a 'squatch.
Just so you know, one of my claims to fame in the bigfoot world is I was the one who discovered that bigfoots do wood knocks and figured out that if you make sounds, that they'll respond.
No other bigfoot researchers had ever figured that out or knew that before, 'cause they didn't really go in the field very often.
I try to keep an open mind, but if you go in expecting to hear something, and you're looking for it, you might find it when it's actually not there.
It's dead.
We did howls.
We did knocks.
We're not getting more action.
Okay, listen, guys.
We're not getting any responses to the knocks.
I want to know if there's anything close by.
The only thing we can do now is is just hope that that thing is watching us, maybe it spotted our lights, and it's just checking us out.
I think we should we got to move somewhere.
There's only one direction we can move, which is back down the way we came, and hopefully when we do that, we'll get something following us, and we'll be able to hear it.
Roger that.
We're on our way back down.
We haven't heard anything for a while now, so the one last trick we can try on the way out is to be very conspicuous by having our lights on as we leave.
Holy Did you throw something? - No, did you? - No.
Holy didn't know if that was a branch being snapped or a rock got thrown.
Yeah, I definitely heard something.
It sounded like something dropping.
You can't see anything through here.
Holy Matt.
We just had a big branch break, or it might have been a rock being thrown through some dry timber, but it was definitely loud and big.
All right! Yeah! Cliff's moving in on it.
He's therming up and down the tree line now.
Whatever it is it's behind this slash pile in some really big thorns.
I wish I was there.
This is amazing.
Bigfoots or not, man, this is what bigfooting can be all about when you're not around.
Well, they're not dumb.
They know where we can go and can't go.
Maybe we should just keep moving and see if it harasses us on the way out.
Yeah.
Let's do it.
Nothing has happened for a few hours now, and we could see that the sun is starting to come up.
That means we're out of our window of having an encounter with these nocturnal animals.
After re-creating Mary's dramatic dash-cam footage and investigating the surrounding area, we realized we needed more information to determine if there are really some bigfoots in this part of Georgia, and the only way to get that information is to talk with the local people.
So we decided to head up the road to the Bavarian-inspired town of Helen, Georgia, to meet with local witnesses and see what we could learn from them.
To help us with this, we called on the Georgia chapter of the BFRO.
They were able to round up several local witnesses for us to meet with at a town-hall meeting.
Good morning, folks.
My name is Matt Moneymaker.
The head of what's called the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, the BFRO, and we called this meeting today to hopefully talk to some witnesses.
So, I guess the first question to ask is does anybody here have a sighting? Anybody here have witness or have any information? It was fairly dark.
I had my headlights on it, and it just froze in this stride, and didn't move until the head, which was straight, came round and looked right at my car.
I knew what it was.
I I saw the creature.
It had hair on its face, and it smelled like raw sewage.
All of a sudden, this thing started marching straight at us, and it starts this tremendous growl spit flying, teeth showing.
It's so massive and such a barrel chest that when it growled, it was kind of like a lion growl, and it came from deep within.
I knew right then what it was telling us, and it was time to leave.
I actually saw one up close, within 15 feet of me.
I just happened to look up, and there it was, right there.
Have I these pictures that my husband took.
They were out duck hunting.
When were these photographs taken? About a month ago.
So it's recent.
We've had some strange things happen at the house.
We've had what I described to people as a giant standing outside my house, hitting it with a small tree.
Wow.
It freaked me out chills, I mean, just up and down your spine.
After listening to all of the witnesses, we plotted their sightings on a map of the area.
While all of the stories were intriguing, three in particular struck a chord with us Janet's, John's, and Darla's.
These are the stories we wanted to check out more.
Meeting with the witnesses and hearing what they had to say provides one more piece of the puzzle to us to figure out the patterns of behavior of these animals here in Georgia.
As a team, the first place we wanted to go is where Janet had seen one cross the road.
It was the closest place for us to get to, so that's where we wanted to go.
This is the spot? This is it, on the road, though.
Around Thanksgiving day? It was Thanksgiving day.
I was driving home, and I think because it was Thanksgiving, there was nobody else on the road at all.
And I was probably doing 55, normal, and coming over that rise, and I saw the largest thing I'd ever seen.
The first thing that popped into my head was, "Bear? No.
Human? No.
It's way too huge, too big.
" And by then, the creature had stepped up into the middle of the road just sort of frozen, like a statue, and then the head did this slow turn and stared at my car.
And it was probably the scariest moment of my life, just waiting to see if it was gonna come for the car or go somewhere else.
Then it went somewhere else.
If I had been a minute faster or a minute slower, I would never have seen him.
I'm just gonna run down there, where you pointed where it crossed, and I'm gonna stand there for a size comparison for you.
It's a perfect opportunity to do a reconstruction using our own Sasquatch, Bobo.
We put Bobo in the position where the Sasquatch crossed the road.
Janet told us about where she was when she saw the creature.
Using those two locations and a pole, we were able to get an estimate of the height of the animal that she was looking at.
Hmm.
Can he raise his hand? Even higher than that? That's it, maybe that.
Right in there? That's perfect.
Yeah.
Okay, I'm gonna run down there and take that measurement.
9'8" tall.
Wow.
9'8"? Sort of what I thought.
I really don't know what to tell you.
I think I know what to tell you, and I think it was a Sasquatch, personally.
I think he was far too big to be anything else, and that's a place where they could easily live in without being found.
It is a preserve.
I think you saw the real thing.
I love the fact that it froze in mid-step and just looked straight ahead and slowly turned to look at you.
That is a very bigfooty thing to do, so I'm with you.
I think that's a Sasquatch based on that behavior and the size.
After going to Janet's sighting, as a team, we decided to break up and get in smaller groups to cover more ground.
Cliff and Ranae went to Bull Mountain to go look at those prints of the track photos, and Matt and I went up the river with John, up to Chattahoochee, where his sighting was.
- There he is.
- Yep.
Right there.
Good to see you, bud.
Thanks for coming out.
Been looking forward to coming to this spot.
So it's a little hike, huh? Just a little bit.
John's sighting is a little more difficult to get to than the average.
You can't just walk there on a day hike.
You've got to cross the river, that sort of thing stuff that would keep the average hiker out of there.
This is as far as I will come by myself.
How much do you figure it weighed? I'd say 800, 900 pounds.
Wow.
He wasn't a real expressive guy.
He was pretty monotone, even-keeled, but when he'd talk about it, you could tell he was really feeling it.
Did you say he had rocks also? Yes.
How big were they? Bigger than a bowling ball.
Damn! And it wasn't like they were, you know, just bouncing down the side of the hill.
They were actually coming through the trees.
Dang! How freaked out were you on that? Pretty freaked out.
People say there's no hard evidence for Sasquatches, but, you know, this is some pretty compelling stuff.
In this case, truly a picture is worth a thousand words.
Darla came to the town-hall meeting in Helen with the photographs.
I have these pictures that my husband took.
She showed us the photographs and said that her husband had taken them a few weeks prior to the meeting.
The first thing I noticed about Jeff's footprint photographs was how crisp the toes were, which, to me, indicates that they were very, very fresh.
The second thing I noticed was the width and, most importantly, the lack of instep on the Sasquatch footprint.
Sasquatches have large, flat feet.
We have an instep.
They do not.
That's something I looked for.
Are the tracks still there? No, they're not still there, unfortunately.
They were gone within a few days.
But it's important to still go there, because where a Sasquatch goes once, it very often goes more than once.
Perhaps there's other tracks around.
Footprints and footprint casts are kind of my thing it's what I'm most interested in, so I want to go out there to see if we can shed some more light on those footprint photographs.
This was about the spot.
- Right here? - Yes.
We were walking in from this area, came up, saw the prints, and didn't really think much about it.
We started going up the trail, and you could see more, more, and more prints.
What caught my attention was they would go maybe 30 feet Uh-huh.
and they would stop, turn around, come back seven or eight steps, and then they would turn and go back up and maybe go 30 more feet, 40 more feet, and do that, and by the time we got to that wood line, they had done it, you know, three or four times.
Okay.
If you're coming from this way, and it's walking back and forth, it appear as though it's looking down on you guys, sizing you up.
When I first saw the track, I didn't think anything about it.
Once I saw, walking up this way, the back-and-forth motion and the shape of the foot Yeah.
I got to thinking a little bit more about it.
Normally, I'm not scared.
You know, I can go out in the woods in the night.
Doesn't bother me.
But we kept our guns loaded until we got back to the truck.
Something is out here.
We were walking along this trail, looking for a better spot to fish.
This is the place where it happened.
- This is it right here? - This is it right here.
My buddy and I came up to the end of this road, and we were discussing how we were gonna get back down in the river to head further upstream when, all of a sudden, we heard a loud thud hit the ground behind us.
We turned around and looked, and right there was a log that was about this big around, about the size of a car tire, and I just happened to look up.
He was standing right there.
Just right there? Right there, and it was too close for comfort, just standing, looking down at me.
And you didn't come back for a while, I bet.
I didn't come back for years.
The incident that John had, on one side, it sounded credible, but on the other side, there was elements that didn't add up, and I wanted to question him about that and try and see, "Is this guy making it up as he goes along?" What color was it, the creature? Black.
His forehead had no hair.
No hair on the forehead? On the forehead, right in here.
Okay.
The mouth, he was just sitting there, and it looked Like a person's mouth? Similar to a person's mouth.
His description of the face wasn't entirely consistent with what I've heard before, so I was intentionally kind of leading him, suggesting other characteristics that are kind of the opposite of what their face looks like.
Okay, what did the eyes look like? Like big, wide eye sockets, or? Yes.
He agreed, said, "Yeah, big, wide eye sockets," not necessarily sunken in, and that's directly the opposite.
Its nose, it was flat.
Okay, what was the color of the skin? Was it the same as the forehead? It was the same.
Well, that's not what they look like either.
Their nose has black skin on it, like a black skin on a dog's nose.
I still don't know.
There's some things about this story that still make no sense at all and just completely flies in the face of what I know reality to be.
The jury's still out in my mind.
I don't know if I can completely accept that one.
So, this is my regular sort of walking stride, then circle back like the prints did.
Using my trackway as a gauge, Jeff was able to approximate the position of the Sasquatch's step length, which is left foot to right foot.
We estimate it at probably about 3½ feet, which would indicate that the stride from left foot to left foot would be about seven feet.
Am I leaving prints at all? Hardly at all.
Hardly at all, huh? Cliff was able to do the distance of that step.
Awkwardly, yes, but it was possible.
Only thing that couldn't be re-created was the depth of the soil.
All you can see is where your toes are digging in.
Jeff noticed that the footprints he stumbled upon impressed about a half an inch into the soil, whereas his footprints barely penetrated at all.
What that could tell me is that the creature was a lot heavier than Jeff.
I really don't know what to say, Jeff.
I know it was cold, slightly different soil.
Jeff told us that that evening, the soil was frozen.
It was 28 degrees.
The following day, it topped off at 41, so it could have warmed up.
The initial tracks were made.
He comes by a little bit later, and then the ground has solidified again.
That's my explanation.
I'm willing to say it.
I think, based on the context, the size, the fact that you say that these things were flatfooted consistently, all up and down the trail, and the distance between them, I think we're looking at Sasquatch footprints.
Sasquatches often frequent the same areas.
Let's take a little while and look around if you have the time, please.
All right.
Let's go, boys.
After doing our reconstruction, I wanted to look around the area, 'cause I know where Sasquatches go once, they usually go more than once.
It's interesting to see it is a well-used trail, most definitely.
Yeah, there's horse prints and stuff all up and down here.
Hike tracks.
There's a dog there.
Bicycle.
I'm just seeing hiking boots.
Bike tire there.
What are you seeing over there, Cliff? Can see that, whatever that is.
That looks like toes.
Off to the side of the trail, near a bend, one particular area caught my eye because it had a lot less leaf litter than the rest of the area surrounding there.
- Watch where you step.
- I am.
And, sure enough, there they were two fantastic Sasquatch footprints, even showing toes.
We have a pretty thick heel.
There's no instep right here, and, you know, these look like toes.
Cliff pauses, I look.
There's a track that, from 10 feet, you can see is a footprint.
Not a hiker's print, a footprint a large footprint.
This might just be the real deal here.
Mary's video brought us out here and I still think it's the strongest piece of evidence available for northern Georgia.
The area has a huge, long history of Sasquatch encounters, but I'm ecstatic about our find.
Those tracks are beautiful.
They show a living foot.
We have two right feet in a row.
There's differences between them.
This was the best track find of my entire bigfooting career.
- You see how deep that is? - Yeah.
That's what I saw.
Jeff, I'm blown away.
We're looking at footprints that might have been left by the same creature that left the footprints you saw.
This is the most compelling evidence that I've had so far.
I'm a little dumbfounded to actually find a track.
I'm like, "Come on.
Really? Is this happening? Did people know we're out here looking for bigfoot and run around barefoot, leaving some tracks for us to find?" I didn't know really what to say, but you could see the obvious outline of a heel, the outside, and five large, distinct toes.
There are thousands and thousands of eyewitness accounts of people seeing Sasquatches, yet only a few hundred footprint accounts that have been documented with either photographs or casts.
This is extremely rare, what we're looking at here.
So I just hit the lottery is what you're telling me? Yes.
We hit the lottery.
Absolutely.
We hit the lottery.
If this is that rare, I mean, we've got to call Moneymaker.
We got to call Bobo, too.
Put them on speakerphone.
I want to hear what they say.
Okay.
So, yeah, he didn't want you guys coming here taking his fish.
Or his deer.
He just didn't want you back here at all.
- They understand that among humans - Hello? Hey, we're gonna put you on speakerphone.
Matt, Bobo, you guys there? Yeah, we're here with our witness at the spot John at the fishing spot where they saw the big nine-footer.
Howdy.
What's up? Um Go ahead and tell them.
Gentlemen, we have prints.
They found prints.
You guys found the same tracks or you found new tracks? I think these prints are about a month old or so.
I think these are probably left by the same creature that left the footprints that Jeff found.
Wow.
They matched the photos, huh? You know what, Jeff was here.
He said these are the same size, the same shape as the ones he saw.
Wait, wait, Cliff, I got to ask can you see toes? Yes, you can see toes.
We found two.
Wow! We have two prints.
They're both of the right foot.
We have a very faint but definite toes on both.
Wow! That's awesome! You're in hog heaven, huh, Cliff? In the ground, in person, these are the best prints I've seen in my life.
I'm really excited for Cliff.
He's one of my best bros, and I just know how excited he is.
I know I'm gonna have trouble sleeping tonight.
Cliff's got to be going out of his gourd right now just with excitement.
So, Ranae, what do you think now? Do you believe they exist? Here's what I will say to you guys I'm having a really difficult time finding an explanation for this.
I really am at a loss for words.
Ranae was saying she has no explanation because, yeah, then she has to admit, "They're real.
I'm wrong.
" I mean, that's rare to find prints with toes.
Yeah, there's no visible arch.
These are looking really good, Bobo.
I'm pretty stoked, man.
God, I wish I was there, dude! Like, God! We're coming right now.
We're on our way.
I got to see this.
All right, bye.
You know what? The heel is a little obscured on this one.
Let's measure from the tip of the toe to the tip of the toe.
It doesn't matter as long as we measure from the same spot on each foot.
There you go.
Oh, that is seven feet on the nose.
You know, Jeff said the step was 3½ feet.
We're looking at right foot to right foot, it's seven feet.
I think we're looking at the same animal's footprints here.
Whoo-hoo! - See how thick it is? - Yeah.
Starting to set up already.
Prints are very, very temporary.
Case in point, Jeff's prints were gone when we got there.
It had been about 3½ weeks.
By preserving these particular prints in plaster, these are now gonna be shared with, you know, potentially dozens of scientists.
No way.
Let's see it! Oh, man! Cliff! I know.
I know.
Check them out.
Very well done! Awesome.
There are elements of this that are significant that you don't normally see, which is since you have two of the same foot, do you see movement of the toes, and that completely eliminates it being a rigid cardboard cutout.
I got to be honest.
When we were out here, looking for evidence, I didn't expect us to find anything, and here we are.
No pun intended, but these prints are very impressive.
These tracks were found on a trail not very far from a dirt road.
And, of course, then you have Janet's sighting, a road crossing, and Mary Scott's, a road crossing.
So, we're starting to see a definite pattern forming, and that tells us a lot about these creatures here in Georgia.
Now, using the knowledge we've gained from the locals and our years of experience, we think we've found the best place to look for bigfoots here.
This is ground zero.
If they're going to be anywhere in north Georgia, they're going to be here.
This is a perfect situation for us to use the rooftop thermal imagers.
We can put them on top of our vehicle, cruise slowly down the road, and just look to the left and right.
We got two rooftops.
We got handhelds.
We need some people to run the handhelds.
Well, he's the one with the network.
That's right, and I know people everywhere.
All right.
Let's get cracking.
Okay, it's looking great.
It's in focus.
We are ready to get a 'squatch.
We've come to Georgia with one goal in mind to see if there are bigfoots here.
Everything we've done so far has led us to this location.
This is the area where Cliff found the tracks, along a road that goes right through a thick section of the Chattahoochee National Forest.
This is the perfect place to use our vehicle-mounted thermal cameras.
The smaller Georgia trees and the scant underbrush means our thermals will see further into the forest than it would in other places.
Hopefully, that will help us get a Sasquatch on film.
But we didn't want to do this alone, so we called in the cavalry.
Oh, yeah.
It's the Georgia chapter of the BFRO.
We even had Georgia from Georgia show up to help out on this one.
Here's the plan for tonight.
We're all gonna have radios.
We can talk to each other.
We're gonna make sure also there's a handheld thermal in each of the vehicles.
You know what we're looking for.
We're looking for a 'squatch.
They're not gonna be standing out in the open.
They're gonna be behind a tree, leaning out and looking, trying to check us out.
Let's hit it.
All right.
Let's do it.
We're good to go.
What we're about to do has never been done before.
Nowhere have this many cars been used in a caravan of thermal imaging.
Wagons ho.
Okay, folks.
Let's see if we can find ourselves a 'squatch in these woods.
Like old times, Bobo.
It is, dude.
How many nights do you think you and I have done this together? A lot.
Yeah.
When you plot all the sightings in northern Georgia, you see a connection with the Chattahoochee National Forest.
That's where we think the bigfoots spend a lot of their time.
It's a great place to do our thermal caravan here because there's not too much underbrush, so the thermal imagers are able to see into the woods a lot further than they can in most areas.
You know, I'm really liking this search reminding me of home.
Its seems the Pacific Northwest up here.
We're finally in some big timber.
It's looking good.
It's feeling 'squatchy.
We'll be approaching the Appalachian Trail and the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River.
There's been a lot of encounters reported and investigated up and down these roads, so we're definitely in a good spot.
All right, folks, is anybody seeing anything, any animals, anything at all? This is what I call "'squatching.
" Ahh.
Headwaters are always good.
Come over here and check this out.
Oh, my god! Georgia, I'm trying to find it on my thermal.
Is it 1:00, 2:00? Where is it? It's definitely 3:00 outside of the Delta car.
It's fading, though.
You guys got to come fast.
Hold on, I'll be right there.
Tell them I'm coming out with a handheld therm.
Keep your eyes on it, Georgia.
I caught it briefly.
I couldn't tell the size, if I was only seeing a partial animal or what, but I caught it briefly.
Whatever it was, it snuck into the woods.
I want to see if I can flush it out.
Get it, Bobs.
I don't know what it was.
It's not gonna come back in view.
We need to get the handhelds and come down here and see what we can stir up.
Let's suit up and hit it, you guys.
Let's go.
Somebody saw a large figure moving through the woods.
We're gonna let the volunteers head back home.
We're gonna get our backpacks on and head in on foot.
All right, you guys.
Cliff, you want to come up with me this way, then Matt and Ranae can go to the right? - We'll go left.
- For sure.
All right.
Let's go, guys.
We're still pretty close to the water.
We might not be able to hear you, but go for it.
Okay, I'm gonna do three, so expect the high-pitched, shrieky ones.
Copy that.
Ask him if he did it.
All right, we didn't hear a thing.
Did you guys do them? Sure did.
I can't believe we didn't hear that.
Matt's gonna go ahead and fire one out.
Okay, copy that.
We'll listen.
Did they ask if they just did a howl.
Did you guys just do a howl? No, we did not do a howl.
Did you hear one? Yeah.
Matt thinks he just heard a howl.
From what direction, please? I couldn't tell which direction it was coming from.
It was on the edge of hearing, but it was definitely there, and it was echoing through the valley.
Okay, copy that.
Let us know what you think it is.
I definitely heard something out there.
You're not messing with me, are you, Matt? No, I'm not.
Okay.
It was like a man, like a big man going, "ra-a-a-h!" It was faintly echoing through the canyon.
That's why I thought at first Bobo did it without announcing it but he didn't.
I stood down there a while, looking to see if I could pick something up, but it appeared to be moving away, and that seems to be what happened.
But we had a greater appreciation for what's going on in north Georgia with Sasquatches, and it was a good expedition for us.
We came here to investigate the first dash-cam video footage ever recorded and to ask the question, "Are there bigfoots here in northern Georgia?" Holy Did you throw something? No, did you? Our search has led us to believe the footage is real, and it's led us to multiple eyewitnesses and some of the best footprints we've seen in the last 25 years of searching.
Do I think there are bigfoots here in northern Georgia? Yes.
