Finding Bigfoot (2011) s01e03 Episode Script

Caught on Tape

On this episode of "Finding Bigfoot" the members of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization travel to the backwoods of North Carolina to see if bigfoot exists in this region of the country.
A man claims an 8-foot-tall Sasquatch invaded his camp.
I heard this rustling down here, and thought, "He's down there, watching.
" And he caught it on video.
As the investigators attempt to authenticate this dramatic footage, they have an encounter of their own, deep in the forest.
Who is that up there? But tempers flare as the team closes in.
You're not gonna catch a squatch that's running in the dark.
And unless there's some protocols and guidelines on what to do Ranae, I've been doing this for an awful lot of time.
I know exactly what the I'm doing! Matt, I don't interrupt.
With multiple witnesses coming forward, Matt and his team organize the largest search in history for this elusive beast.
You guys got something up here? It was impossibly large.
It definitely wasn't human.
I've been tracking Sasquatches for 25 years.
These animals, in fact, are real.
I've seen them.
They're here.
I'm having a really difficult time finding an explanation for this.
There's something on the hill.
I do think there's a squatch in these woods.
I'm Matt Moneymaker.
Today the team and I are headed into North Carolina's expansive 50,000-acre Uwharrie National Forest.
Once famous for its bottomless gold mines, more recently the Uwharrie has become a gold mine of Sasquatch reports.
There have been over 100 reported bigfoot encounters in North Carolina in the past 30 years.
But a brand-new piece of video evidence has sent shock waves through the bigfoot research community.
Outdoorsman Mike Greene was camping in the Uwharrie National Forest when he got footage of what he believes is a 7-foot-tall bigfoot.
There's one problem, though.
He got the footage with a thermal imager.
Thermal imagers are instruments commonly used by people trying to get footage of bigfoots.
They allow us to see in the dark by reading heat.
Mike's slightly blurry video does show some kind of an animal in the woods and crawling up on its belly, reaching over, and grabbing a candy bar off a stump the candy bar that was left there by Mike as bait.
There is squatches out here.
There's a lot of deer.
There's a lot of farms.
There's a lot of sightings.
And we are gonna go meet up with Mike Greene.
He's been going after squatches for many years.
Yeah, he was hitting the spot, I think, on a two, three times a month for years before he got the footage.
Mike Greene has been an avid squatch investigator for a long time.
He's worked with the BFRO and other groups, as well.
He has done a lot of fieldwork.
Watching Mike Greene's video, it struck me as just just the way, the behavior, everything everything about it meshes with what I know about them and how they operate.
They'll drop down on their hands and knees, crawl behind logs, bushes.
They're stealthy.
I mean, that's exactly what I saw in the video.
I don't see why there's not a reason why that couldn't be somebody in a suit.
Look at the arm the length of the arm.
That arm is not a human arm.
Let's bust out some scale, because I just I don't see any reason why that couldn't be a person.
First of all, the footage is a little blurry.
And most things that are out of focus usually look a little bigger.
I have my doubts that this is a bigfoot.
This is all one thermal temperature, so it's either a squatch or it's a naked guy walking out of the woods there, and I don't think it was that.
This thermal footage is compelling because it shows a figure that's a continuous temperature from head to toe.
You can see if something's wearing clothes.
Those will show up as dark spots or patches on the figure.
You don't see that in this footage.
I just want to get out there and check it out for myself.
Reading about Sasquatch reports is one thing, but if you can get out to the field and actually do onsite investigations, it opens up so much knowledge to the investigator.
- Matt Moneymaker.
- Mr.
Greene.
So, we got the footage.
- I love it.
I think it's amazing.
- Thank you.
It's definitely unique.
There's nothing else out there like that.
And you're saying it was right here? Here it is.
This is the spot, and that is the stump.
That's stump right there is where the candy bar was when he grabbed it off the thermal.
I've been into bigfooting for about 20 years, completely unsuccessful until I started coming down to this very spot.
There was nobody else in the campground.
Put my tent up, went to sleep.
3:00 in the morning, I woke up.
Down there somewhere, I heard this plopping noise.
It sounded like somebody dropping a water balloon on the floor.
The next thing I heard, right over the top of my tent, was what I call "Darth Vader breaths," which was I've heard that before.
Yeah.
And then something cuffed the top of the tent.
And I whacked the side of the tent back.
And it ran off.
I heard this rustling down here, and I thought, "Gosh darn it, he's down there watching me.
" And on the spur of the moment I had a tripod there with all my other junk a took the tripod out, set it up right next to the back of the car, mounted the thermal on it, and I got in my car and conspicuously drove off.
And I drove way to the other end of this campsite, and I just parked there and I waited for two hours, and then I came back.
Candy bar was gone.
And the battery was dead.
I knew what I'd seen and, unequivocally, it was a squatch.
The image does not reflect any cold spots that it would if you were wearing a fat suit or a lot of insulation.
Its general shape was of a Sasquatch.
So, Mike, why is the image so out of focus? When I heard the rustling and I got this idea to leave, sort of my heart started beating.
I should have taken the extra two seconds to pick it up and go zih! and focus it sharp down where the candy bar was.
I didn't do that.
I believe Mike's film shows a real Sasquatch.
This is the exactly the sort of area I would expect a Sasquatch to be hanging out in, and I also believe that Sasquatches come in and take things from campers on occasion.
So, where was the camera located during all this? Yeah, where where was your car? - 85 feet away.
- Really? Right up there.
And it came from down there, crawling up this hill on, I guess, its hands and knees or belly to the stump.
I think that bigfoot went after the candy bar because they like peanuts and peanut butter.
Various other amateur researchers have put out bait in other areas, including jars of peanut butter.
I really defy anybody to fake a thermal image.
There could be a remote possibility it's a hoax, but I have no doubt about Mike Greene's credibility.
It all jibes with what I know about Sasquatch, and Mike's as good as it gets as a witness.
I wish I could give you a better idea of the size of the height, rather, but the way that hill slants down, it's just tough.
My best guess is about 71/2 feet tall.
After hearing Mike's story, I know that he believes he got video footage of a bigfoot.
We're about to try running a reconstruction of Mike's video.
We'll use Bobo, if you don't mind being the model, being the Sasquatch.
Used to model.
I'm gonna be the stand-in for the bigfoot.
We're gonna position Mike's thermal exactly how it was the night he got the footage.
So we're gonna compare me to the size of the creature in the video, and we'll also be able to do a comparison of the heat signature between myself and the creature in the original video.
We're gonna try to position Bobo so it's exactly in some of the key points that we see in the footage.
When we put these side by side, we'll be able to see, like, how long the thing's arm is, compared to Bobo, et cetera.
Okay, Bobo, we're gonna roll this footage, and then we're gonna have you, in a minute, kind of crawl up toward the stump.
So stand by.
Okay, play the recorder then.
All right, you guys ready? Okay, now we're watching the footage.
He's rolling the footage forward, and it looks like it's coming up toward the stump from right in there.
It's making a beeline toward the stump.
Do you want me to proceed all the way to the stump right now? Yeah, come up to the stump and reach and grab the Zagnut bar while keeping your eyes just over the top of it.
A little more.
And come closer.
Whoa! My god, look at that! Perfect.
Seeing the footage side by side, it really began to put Mike Greene's video into perspective.
I mean, you could start to see the thermal heat coming off of Bobo's body, and I could completely see the similarities between the two screens.
Wait.
It looks like that thing's arm is already longer than yours, but, slow motion, reach up for it and pull it back.
Oh, that looks very good.
That looked just like the footage.
It was interesting when we saw Bobo on the video.
I really thought that we'd be able to see that he's wearing clothes a lot more clearly.
And I think it has something to do with the computer inside the thermal imager readjusting for the differences in temperatures right now.
Well, Mike, what was the temperature that night? Was it similar to a night like this? Probably a little warmer.
- It was a little warmer? - Yes.
The thought is that a naked animal would have an even white reading, whereas a clothed human would not have such an even reading.
There'd be shades of gray and black.
We think our test, though, was a bit flawed because of the differences in temperature on the night that Mike shot his video and the temperature of the night where we made the comparison video.
My impression, when I look at this, is I'm seeing the top of the head and the top of the head.
They're looking the same, and they're looking just as white to me.
Since we were able to re-create the video so well dead on the heat signature, the bulkiness, the size of it he is not a 71/2-foot-tall Sasquatch that we're supposed to be seeing.
In my opinion, anybody of Bobo's size and stature could have been captured in Mike's video.
You cannot ignore the context of the film.
Mike was there at the entrance of this area here.
He knows no one else was in here, so, I mean, the context is a key player in this.
I think what we learned about this particular piece of footage and about that animal is that it was probably not an adult.
It might have been a juvenile, maybe about 6, 7 foot tall, somewhere in that range.
We can't prove it or disprove it from this, but I think we should do a little search around here.
We've got the right gear to do it.
Let's look around.
I've heard Sasquatches here myself.
I've done three expeditions here.
I'm pretty confident that that was a Sasquatch in the film.
We're gonna go look around.
We've got handheld thermals, we've got night vision.
We're gonna go snoop around, see if we can get one to follow us.
So, I decided to split the group into two teams.
Cliff and I, we're gonna stay down low with our thermal devices, while Bobo and Ranae started their sweep into the woods.
So, Bobo and I, we were walking through the woods when he catches something in the corner of his eye that looks out of place.
There's something on that hill right there.
I mean, where that big tree over there is, right below there.
Who is that up there? There's something on the hill.
Wow.
Did I just see a Sasquatch? Who the heck is walking up there without lights? What are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to run up the hill to him? No, we're not supposed to do this.
Why is he going up there? Whatever I saw was big.
It looked all to God like it was walking on two legs.
There might be a Sasquatch right here.
He'd flip out.
This is not how you collect evidence of any animal.
Where's the plan? Where's the communication? We don't just run off rogue into the woods haphazardly.
It's got to be hiding.
I don't see him.
Bobo, do you copy? I read you, Matt.
Come back.
All right, this is what I saw.
There was a bipedal figure.
He was flanking across the hill.
If it's a squatch, then got some thermal footage of it.
But I want to come back and we'll look at the tape over there, and we'll see if we can figure from that.
I want to see what this is.
What Matt did was the dumbest thing you could do.
And if I did it, he would have been flipping.
Mr.
Moneymaker.
Yep? Explain yourself, sir.
What was the panic? What do you mean, what was the panic? I wanted to get it.
Isn't that what we're here for? You would flip out if I did that.
Listen, I think, when you look at it, you'll realize it was a good idea to try to chase him down.
No, you just you film it as long as you can.
I did film it.
It was gonna move away.
It wasn't moving toward me.
You're not gonna catch a squatch, running in the dark.
There's no way.
Running rogue in eight different directions is gonna get you diddly.
Ranae, I've been doing this for an awful long time.
I know exactly what the I'm doing! I don't interrupt you, Matt, and I would appreciate the same treatment.
You guys got to have some guidelines.
Otherwise, it's a shotgun free-for-all.
Duly noted.
Thank you very much.
Let's look at the footage.
Wow.
The theory the guys have is that these are skittish animals and very stealthy.
So if this were a Sasquatch, I don't think busting off after it in the woods is gonna be the right way to go about it.
Okay, well, this is my footage.
This is what I saw through the thermal imager.
I saw a profile view of it.
It had arms.
It was moving along.
I could see the leg lifts.
It was definitely a bipedal figure.
Right in the middle of this viewer is this hot image of somebody solid, hot someone upright.
That could be a person.
It is upright.
The silhouette of it kind of struck me as the silhouette of somebody wearing clothes.
The only thing that makes me think maybe it wasn't, in the end, was because he got away.
I don't know if it was a squatch or not.
There's evidence for it being one, there's evidence for it not being one.
But Matt jumped the gun, and our investigation was over before it even got started.
Well, let's just say right now, if you see something, you don't yell, you don't point at it, you don't run at it, you just you film it.
People describe it as wearing I thought it was a guy in a jacket.
That's what everyone says.
It was so bulky, I thought it was a guy in a jacket.
That's in a thousand reports.
Instead of it being about this exact instance, there's four of us, and before one person busts off running up a hill, communicate it to each other.
Otherwise, it's gonna completely compromise what you guys are trying to do.
That's my point.
And I've heard it now.
What are you, the Fonz? Can't admit you're wrong? I mean, dude.
I was absolutely right! I'm not gonna wait, and I'm certainly not gonna ask their permission.
I'm the leader there, and I'm gonna make decisions about what I need to do in those spur-of-the-moment situations where there's not a second to lose, and they just have to live with that.
We've got a lot of other cameras to check.
I think we should just pack this up, take this to a dry place, and then decide what to do from there.
I've been going after video footage of Sasquatches for 17 or 20 years now.
The fact is, Matt blew it.
After re-creating Mike's thermal video and having seen what could have been a Sasquatch last night, we decided to drive to the town of Troy, North Carolina.
This small, rural town has an active outdoors population of hunters, fishermen, and trappers.
In 1978, a flurry of unexplained creature sightings fueled the local obsession with the creature.
This bigfoot is a regular subject of speculation and gossip around here.
We decided to call a town-hall meeting to find out if any locals had any similar encounters of bigfoots in the Uwharrie Forest and to see if Mike Greene's case was an isolated incident.
The BFRO put the word out, and we got an impressive turnout.
Hello, folks.
My name's Matt Moneymaker.
To my left, this is Cliff Barackman, Ranae Holland, and Bobo Fay.
We called this meeting.
Mainly, what we were trying to do is we wanted to meet other people in the community who may have seen these things.
So we want to know what you've found, what you've seen, what you may have heard.
We'd like to see a show of hands of those who have actually had a visual sighting.
We were doing some night ATV riding up at Uwharrie National Forest, and we heard what sounded off in the distance, it was a loud just running.
You actually hear the limbs breaking very quickly as it was coming towards us.
We went backpacking off of West Morris Camp, and the entire night, it was just rocks being pelted at us, you know, hitting our tent.
You could actually hear a high-pitch growl kind of like an elephant.
Did you ever hear an elephant growl? It's a scary experience.
I had noticed, through my binoculars, a tree being pushed over and back, pushed over and back, and a huge figure coming out of that tree line, swaying back and forth.
I startled this thing, and it kind of bucked right and it bucked left, and then it just for the woods.
One night, my wife woke me up and she says, "There's something out back.
" And we opened the windows, and this thing was growling.
Well, I went out into the cul-de-sac, and these prints were out there.
About 16, 17 inches long.
This is either a fake or it's real.
It's amazing to see how many people at the meeting had sightings.
We charted on a map the exact locations where each occurrence took place.
There were three witnesses that we found most compelling.
The first was Amanda.
She was the one who was riding on the back of an ATV in the dark, but she was scared stiff by a large, terrifying creature pursuing them.
The next was Len.
He was the one who photographed the huge muddy footprints on the cul-de-sac in front of his house.
And, finally, Tommy, the one who had rocks thrown at him while he was camping deep in the Uwharrie.
That's classic territorial behavior by bigfoot.
If we can verify these sightings, then we'll have a good idea where we can find a bigfoot.
Bobo, we're heading out.
We're gonna meet with Amanda and Jeff.
Amanda is the one who told us the story at the firehouse where she was on an ATV with her husband and some other friends, when they were charged by some animal.
They said they heard it come from hundreds of yards away, just charge up the mountain unbelievably fast.
Running on all fours isn't a very common attribute of the Sasquatch, but they do do it.
We think they get on all fours to imitate bears.
They're smart, and they want to stay hidden.
I'm pretty stoke we get to ride some ATVs out there, too.
They're finally gonna let me drive on this trip.
Hey, Jeff and Amanda.
Thanks for meeting us, you guys.
- Nice meeting you again, Amanda.
- Thank you.
This is the general area? You're gonna take us up there? Take you up, show you exactly what we saw.
All right, don't laugh at me.
My ATV skills are a little rusty.
As we were riding out there, I could see how squatchy this area really was.
The woods here are really thick.
There's ample food.
So it doesn't surprise me they had a sighting out here.
This is the spot you were at? This is the spot.
We had come up that ridge line.
We heard loud crashing off in the distance.
It was coming from that direction.
And it was so fast and so loud, I mean, you could hear the limbs just snapping.
It wasn't little twigs on the ground and leaves shuffling.
I looked over my shoulder, and about 30 yards from the 4-wheeler, it stopped.
It had to be this high on its back, 'cause it was on all fours.
As soon as I saw it and I started screaming, I just buried my head in my husband's back.
And as we took off, it had ran on the trail with us probably 25 yards.
It was extremely close to us at this point.
Wow.
You saw the face at this point? I'm gonna be honest.
I was so scared, my face stayed buried in his back the majority of the time.
Yeah.
You heard the growl, right? Yeah.
Could you describe it the best I'm not familiar with anything that would sound like what I heard, you know.
I believe that Amanda and Jeff are definitely credible witnesses.
This woman was scared.
So, now that we have the story, we're gonna re-create the scene.
I'm gonna have them get on their ATVs.
Bobo is gonna be our mock Sasquatch.
And in this instance, we can then attempt to use this for scale analysis.
Now we got Bobo down there to play the role of the figure.
So you tell me, that's about the distance he was at, right? Yeah.
His back was, what I can remember, was more arched.
- Like this? - Yeah.
That's a weird position.
I've never seen a bear where it's that low to the ground and its haunches are up high.
If that's what she saw, it wasn't a bear.
In size comparison, bigger or smaller? Height, it was a lot bigger.
Width? Width, it was bigger, as well.
It was bigger? So, after doing the comparison, Amanda was able to determine that it was at least 50% larger than me, which rules out a hoaxer in a costume.
It leaves only a Sasquatch or a bear.
And choosing between a bear or a Sasquatch, when you factor in the sounds, I lean Sasquatch.
So, what do you think? I mean, you guys are here.
You've got a mock squatch.
What do you guys think? I think I'm still unsure what I saw that night, but I definitely know it was bigger than Bobo.
All right, thanks, you guys.
- Thanks, guys.
- Thank you.
We're on our way to meet with the witness named Leonard.
He is the one who found the mud tracks on the asphalt in front of his house on the cul-de-sac.
All these cases in North Carolina are within the same area as Mike Greene's sighting.
We're closing in on a relatively smaller area where a bigfoot could be.
The fact that Len didn't know what he had, to me, adds a lot of credibility to his story.
Hello, how you doing? Very good.
Glad to see you could make it.
So, is this where the magic happened? Well, here and out back.
What you're actually seeing here is a lot of building within the last week.
Matter of fact, a year and a half ago not even quite two years ago everything you see here was not here.
Those power lines were there, right? Those power lines were there.
Power lines are significant because Sasquatches travel along power-line routes.
They can walk along them at night.
They know they're not gonna run into any people.
It's really kind of their highway.
This whole incident started with sounds, I believe, right? Well, yes.
There were some sounds.
Why don't you show us where that happened, and we can kind of get a lay of the land here.
- Come on.
- Thank you.
Before all this new development, behind Len's house was a heavily forested area, and it was very similar to the area where Mike Greene got his thermal footage.
My wife woke me up, and it was about 1:30, 2:00 in the morning.
She says, "Well, there's something out there.
" There was real low, deep, guttural growls.
I've never heard anything like that before in my life.
It just sounded like whatever it was, it was big and it was showing its frustration, and then it stopped and was gone.
And then, a month or two down the road, the prints show up.
And then 12 years later, it was another print.
Yeah.
This thing was big.
The sounds that they're describing don't really fit with anything else.
So the tracks corroborate the sounds and vice versa.
The first print I saw was right about in here.
The next print, the right print, was somewhere in here.
And then another left here.
Wow.
Well, let's do this.
I have my tape measure with me.
Let's take a couple rocks and mark the position of the first footprint over there with a little pile of rocks in the mode of the squatch.
We're very fortunate, in this case, to have a witness who not only took the time to photograph the trackway but also measured not only the length of the footprint but also the length of the step, which is from left foot to right foot.
So I wanted to see if I could even come close to duplicating the step length that he actually measured.
Okay, Carl Lewis, let's see how far you can jump.
No.
Once again, fail.
But in a way, success.
Look at this.
I'm not a big guy, but, Matt, why don't you hold this up at my heel and I'll measure to this next heel right here.
And I have 6 feet, 11 inches.
This thing has a 12-foot step.
Using some rough math, my step is about half of this.
That would put this animal perhaps maybe twice as large as me.
There's a case of a footprint find in western Washington where the animal was running, and in between left to right foot was a 10-foot step, so having a 12-foot step here is not very surprising at all.
I could not even come close to duplicating the step length.
And there was only one, and, I mean, it could have been a fluke of nature or, I don't know, something that looked like a footprint, but I don't think this was faked.
There's an awful lot of Sasquatch sightings that are in close proximity to big power-line routes.
The deer are still here, and the Sasquatches are still trying to follow them.
I believe this is a legit case.
In my opinion, it was a bigfoot that left those tracks and it was a bigfoot that made those growls in those woods.
We talked to a couple of witnesses, and a picture is starting to come together about the bigfoots here in North Carolina.
But I'm really interested to talk to these next witnesses, because they might have the definitive piece of evidence that can lead us right to where the squatches are.
- Hey, fellas.
- How's it going? Good.
Good to see you.
- Hey, guys.
- Evening.
Good to see you.
- Thanks for meeting us here.
- Sure.
I could really use a shower.
- I'll see what I can do for you.
- Okay.
So, we met up with Tommy and the other witnesses, and they took us deep back into the Uwharrie, where they had their incidents.
All right, guys, we're getting off the main trail now, fixing to get into some pretty thick forest, so just single file and just watch your step.
These guys reported a really aggressive encounter.
I'm hoping for a similar experience tonight.
All right, follow me this way.
Over here is the spot where we had our sighting, but we did have rocks being pelted at us from this direction.
We had a campfire going, we made our dinner, and we tried to ignore it.
The rocks were just pelting, like, flying through the air at us.
It was like when you take a baseball and you can launch a baseball and you can hear it just tih-tih tih-tih-tih-tih tih-tih tih tih.
And Brad was actually sleeping over in his tent, and I remember he said, "One just hit my tent.
This is getting pretty beat.
I want to go home.
" And we heard a low growl from over this way.
I don't know.
I think we kind of invaded their watering hole and they were just, like, mad at us for getting in their way.
I tell you, man, being back here in the spot, like, kind of brings it more into into motion, because I just remember laying there.
Hey, hey, noise over here.
How far off was the sound, guys? I'm guessing 25 yards.
So, he was kind of in the middle of telling us his story.
We hear this low, guttural sound coming off in the woods behind us.
I didn't even know what I'm supposed to be doing.
With all the chaos going on, I thought Matt might go off without a plan like the other night, and it would be mass confusion again.
So, what is the plan, Matt? How about, Ranae, you and Bobo go to the top of the hill up here? Cliff and I will stay in radio contact.
Let's not scare them away.
Let's let them want to scare us.
But it would be better if there's a smaller number of us.
Say, guys, you brought us to a great spot.
Boy, do we believe you now.
- I would say, leave this to us for now.
- All right.
And you'll certainly hear about it in the morning.
All right, man, sounds good.
Thanks for bringing us here.
When you hear a squatch, it's like taking off a big wave.
You just get psyched, you know, and you want more.
This is a good chance to get a Sasquatch on camera.
We want to do it right, with no mistakes.
I think this is the trail to use.
This comes up right out of that gully, up into that campsite.
It's one of these passageways that things could be able to move along fairly quietly.
So, we'll make sounds up here above the camp, and Spencer Creek is off that way.
The purpose for going out and doing howls is to get some responses from Sasquatches, even if they're off in the distance.
If they're distinct enough, then we know we're in the right place.
More importantly, it means a Sasquatch lives there, at least at that time of year.
Okay, I'm gonna give a howl off in this direction.
Listen.
Okay.
You want to try one? - Can you do a high-pitched one? - Sure.
Do a high-pitched one off in this direction.
Great.
If Mike Greene had this unit, there'd be no question what you're looking at in his clip.
I wish he'd had that.
See a little something hot? I'm not seeing anything.
Could be a good sign.
You always hear that.
"There was nothing around, and then it stepped out.
" Usually, all we see out here is owls, rabbits, mice, and rats, and deer.
That's pretty much all we see.
Whoa, whoa.
Did you see that? So, Bobo and I are heading down the path, and as I'm looking at the thermal, I see something zips across the screen from right to left.
And the second it's off the screen, I hear a thud off to my side.
It looked like something moved across the road, like a trajectory.
It looked like a like a rock, maybe moving across.
It's a known fact that Sasquatches throws rocks.
Any Sasquatch researcher will agree with that, you know, to protect their feeding areas.
We've got over 1,000 reports in the BFRO database of rocks being thrown in conjunction with bigfoot activity.
I mean, is a bug gonna show up in here? Bats will.
It could have been a bat.
I mean, that's a possibility.
Tell you what, I'll do one more howl, and then we'll start making our way down the hill.
No coyotes.
Mnh-mnh.
Notice that? Yeah, now that you mention it.
We'll start making our way down the hill.
I think we should call it a night.
After this week, seeing the reconstruction of Mike Greene's video and meeting with other witnesses at their location, we realized the experiences that we had previously weren't isolated incidents.
There have been a lot of other encounters here that we didn't know about and were not reported to us.
What I'm thinking is, we should get a big group of people out and spread out a line to look for evidence of trails or nests, starting from about here, kind of fanning out, and then ending up on the shoreline.
But I'm betting we'll find something that way.
The advantage of doing a search like this is that you can cover a lot of ground very quickly.
We're searching this location because the cluster of sightings we investigated were all within this particular grid area.
Everything we've done, up until this point, has led us to this location.
We believe a bigfoot is here, and we're closing in on it.
Start calling as many BFRO people as we can.
- Right.
- Very good.
Hey, Crazy Frank, it's your cousin Bobo.
Hey, John, it's Matt.
Call anybody you know who would be interested in this.
We're gonna be in Uwharrie National Forest.
Yeah, we're getting all the people we can together to do a big line and push to the lake.
Thanks a lot.
See ya.
All right, spread the word.
Thanks, Fred.
The BFRO guys have a fantastic network of people all around the country.
These guys make a few phone calls, and they get some people on the ground immediately.
Hello, folks.
Thank you for coming.
Today, we're gonna be going down the road, and with your help, gonna be looking for evidence in a grid search pattern.
And you'll be looking around for things like footprints or hair samples, et cetera.
Again, thanks for coming.
And we'll give you a signal when we're ready to roll.
If there's a bigfoot out here anywhere, it's going to be within this search grid.
And we're either gonna find the bigfoot or we're gonna find some evidence that a bigfoot is here.
All right, folks, try and stay in a line.
Continue on walking into the woods.
We spread, throughout the line, random whistles and we instructed our witnesses if they find any evidence or, at least, what we've explained to them to be potential evidence do not touch it.
Blow the whistle, and we'll come and collect it.
Got a ton of people here.
Let's see what they can turn up.
Hey, man, I got a track right here.
Right here.
We got two right here.
And then two separating that log right there, or that stick right there.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah, something was through here.
I'm thinking, at this point, based on the pattern like, pockmark, bang, bang to me, very heavily suggests a deer.
This is a great find.
Knowing that there are deer in the area means that there's a chance that Sasquatches might be in the area, as well.
Come on, folks, start moving.
Let's head toward the sun.
We think the Sasquatch is preying mainly on deer because that's the score proteinwise in their environment.
That's a pretty little stream.
Oh, hey, what do you guys got over here? - Hey, Matt.
- Yeah? This is awesome.
This is great.
This is a deer carcass if I've ever seen one.
Obviously not a hunter's kill.
Natural predation.
But what I really found interesting is this foreleg here has been snapped clean.
That was twisted.
That was twisted off.
That's what a Sasquatch does to a deer.
But I could counter this by saying that, you know, a group of coyotes or some wolves or a bear rolled it down the hill, and it could explain that.
You see any teeth marks on that? No, by rolling it down the hill, an animal could break its leg spinning down this hill.
This is steep enough to break a leg.
I just don't think, for the leg to spiral-fracture as it's rolling down a hill, it would snap sideways.
That's caused by a twisting motion.
And you'll notice that there's no teeth marks right around in here as if something just chewed it and twisted it apart.
Sasquatches do that when they first catch a deer.
They'll immobilize it by breaking one of the legs so the deer can't run away.
The connection between bigfoots and deer kills was first noted by Mennonite farmers in eastern Ohio in the early 1990s.
And since then, bigfoot researchers all over America have come to accept that bigfoots do go after deer, and the first thing they do is break the leg.
This is a great find.
And I do think this was a squatch kill.
If you would, please, if you could just photograph this from every angle.
Thank you.
We had found some good evidence that a bigfoot had been there.
We kept searching till the sun went down and then we had to call it a night.
Do Sasquatches exist here in this part of North Carolina? Mike Greene's film was a catalyst to bring us down to this particular location.
Spent some time in the woods.
We've gathered some potential data, so now it's time to go back and meet up with Mike and then bring some closure to this case.
After we did the reconstruction, as you know, we had that town-hall meeting and met several good witnesses.
A lot of people showed up.
A lot of people.
We went, actually, out to talk to a couple of those witnesses at the place where those incidents happened.
We got some photos, actually, to show you from that.
Whoa! - And - That's a pretty good track.
I think it's highly probable that this actually could be a Sasquatch footprint.
Later in the evening, Matt saw a bipedal figure on the thermal imager, as well.
Who is that up there? And I'll tell you, that might have been the first Sasquatch I ever saw.
No kidding.
So, there's more than one guy saw it? We all saw it.
You all saw it? You saw it, too? There's something on that hill right there.
Squatch, I can buy, moving through just about anything really quick at night.
I can't buy that with a person.
So, after that night, we decided that we wanted to do an evidence search, and the big thing that they found was a deer kill.
This foreleg here has been snapped clean.
That's what a Sasquatch does to a deer.
Definitely a spiral fracture.
So, we found all this interesting evidence while we're here and all this activity.
It was your film that got us here.
Either you hoaxed it or it's a Sasquatch.
I've known you for years and years now.
I've been in the woods with you.
I trust you with my life.
Therefore, I think you have an authentic Sasquatch video.
I think so, too.
I look at a video, I want to see something to say that, "Wow.
I can't explain that.
" I can explain that.
It's just not compelling enough for me to say, "that can't be re-created.
" These things are terribly rare, and when you get something on footage, I wouldn't dismiss it quite so offhand as you have.
I need something that I can't re-create.
Ranae says she wants to find the truth about bigfoots, but she's the type of person who has trouble believing that there are things that exist beyond what she can see right in front of her.
In my personal opinion, I think that's legitimate thermal footage of a Sasquatch.
Thank you.
Due to the context of the situation, the location, the history there, and more than anything else, the behavior of that figure.
My opinion is, this is legitimate Sasquatch video also, because I know they're real.
I know exist.
So, to me, it's more likely that's what we're watching than some kind of hoax.
To find supporting evidence to my footage, I'm delighted.
I really appreciate it, guys.
- Go get us another film.
- I'll do my best.
Ranae, Bobo.
With all that we've seen and heard here, I know that there are definitely some bigfoots in the Uwharrie National Forest.
They are definitely here.
In time, we will be able to get indisputable proof of their existence, and we won't stop searching until we do.
