Haunted Collector (2011) s02e02 Episode Script

Haunted Inn - Long Live The Kings

- On this episode of Haunted Collector The Hulbert House was a hub for Mafia activity.
A gentleman stayed in this room for many years and just disappeared.
It was called the silent killer.
The King House is considered the most haunted location in Mayport.
Most of the people died early or violently.
She was murdered right over in this spot.
All right, I'm seeing something down there.
- Oh, my God.
- You're right on top of it.
- Whoa.
- What's up, what's up? Somebody just pulled my hair.
My name is John Zaffis.
For over 40 years I've been helping people with their paranormal problems.
I've found that spirits can attach themselves to objects - Whoa.
- Oh my God.
And make life a living hell.
That's where my team comes in.
My son, Chris.
My daughter Aimee.
Brian, my tech guy.
Jason, my researcher.
And Jesslyn my investigator.
- My job - What is that? Don't touch that thing.
Find the haunted item and remove it.
Because I am the Haunted typewriter, still works pretty good.
Hey dad, we just got a new case submission.
Want to take a look at it? Yeah.
Let's put it in, let's see what's going on.
Hi.
I'm Eileen Esch and I'm the owner and operator of the Hulbert House in Boonville, New York.
We've had a lot of paranormal activity going on.
When people come upstairs uh, they're being pushed Their hair is being pulled.
There's been stories where people have died upstairs.
People have disappeared.
The building is 200 years old, but this is a little disturbing.
I don't want this to escalate into something worse.
Well, this looks pretty serious, buddy.
I definitely think we should get up to upstate New York And see if we can help them out.
Sounds good.
Okay, guys.
The Hulbert House, 200-year-old bed and breakfast.
I mean, the history alone is just really wild.
Famous people of that time period were known to have stayed there.
Buffalo Bill and, uh even Ulysses S.
Grant.
Absolutely.
But the creepy thing about all this is People renting these rooms would actually pass away in the room.
Now, back in the '70s they shut down the third floor.
Now that they're renovating it and opening it up, it has caused some of the disturbances, and things are escalating in there.
It's like opening up a time capsule.
All right, guys.
Aimee and I are going in to meet with the owner.
Jess, you go talk to some of the witnesses.
Got it.
- Hi.
- Hi.
Thank you so much for coming.
Come on in.
Okay.
Alright.
Can you tell me anything about this room in here? You had any experiences in this room? Yes.
Actually, a colonial woman, um, was seen.
She had passed by the bar room going towards the dining area.
There's a little girl who's been seen.
There's been a lot of hair pulling and pushing And we just want to get to the bottom of that.
Okay.
This area isn't used any more.
We closed this off in the, uh, early '70s.
Why did you close it off? Just strange things going on.
People don't stay up here any more.
We experienced some weird things happening when we would come up to clean up here on the third floor.
There was a young woman, her shoulder goes like this, and she turns around.
And she was like, okay, somebody just pushed me.
Okay.
Somebody somebody just pushed me.
No one else in the room? No.
I was standing where you are.
There was nobody else behind her.
It scared me a lot.
A gentleman stayed in this room for many years And kind of just disappeared.
He just left his items here, and we've left them as is: His crutch Family photos.
This is his suitcase, you know, with his clothing.
Clothing is a very personal item.
If a person should die suddenly or tragically It will definitely hold onto that energy.
Is there a reason why you just left everything intact and set up this way? Just because it's part of history and goes with the Hulbert House.
Alright.
This is almost like a shrine to him.
This picture right here is a picture of Stanton Vollmer.
And he did live in room 24 on the second floor.
Okay.
And actually, Stanton passed away in his room.
In the early '70s.
He had a heart attack, and this is Stanton's urn.
His ashes are no longer in the urn They've been spread elsewhere.
But his urn was returned to us here.
Okay.
He died here, all his personal effects were here.
Can that urn hold onto some of the energy? Absolutely.
This is room 24.
Stanton passed away in this room.
A lot of times people feel very nauseous when they're in here.
You hear loud footsteps outside the door.
Slamming of doors up above.
There's definitely gonna be a lot of research, kiddo.
Uh, checking into a lot of these people that lived here and died here.
I'd like to take you down to the basement.
There has been a little girl crying out "Help me!" And she was seen down here.
She was actually standing right here.
And you can clearly see right now the, um, fire extinguisher and the hose to the dryer, and she was basically standing right here.
And this could not be seen behind her.
Ah, so it was a pretty solid figure then? - Yes.
Yes.
- Oh, okay.
Any time you have a solid apparition, that's a good indication that the spirit has a very strong tie to this area.
We've covered so much in here.
I want to get the group in here, get this set up and let's see what we can find out for you.
- Thank you very much.
I appreciate that.
- Okay.
All right.
There's a lot to look into here, so I'm including my whole team on our baseline sweep.
Jason and Aimee will check out the second floor.
Chris and Brian will take the third floor, and Jess and I will cover the basement.
I'll want to go over to the spot where the little girl's spirit was supposedly seen.
Let's try a couple of EVPs over there.
All right.
In our baseline sweep, we're gonna be doing EVPs Electronic Voice Phenomena.
What that actually is, it's giving us an imprint on the recorders.
Capturing voices that we might not actually hear.
We're looking for a little girl.
Is there anyone down here who would like to talk to us? You're not gonna believe what we got.
I want to see if you're hearing what I just heard.
Is there anyone down here with us at all? Right there.
"Help me".
"Help me".
I've done a lot of investigations.
And never have I gotten an EVP within 45 seconds of investigating.
So this was a new level for me.
- I'm telling you.
- Right there.
You take that room.
And I'll take this room.
Okay.
There were a lot of items left over from previous guests on the third floor, so me and Brian want to get up there and see if we can find any unusual readings from these objects.
Yeah.
It's normal.
We searching for EMF, which is Electro-Magnetic Fields.
The current theory is that spirits give off electromagnetic fields.
Or that they disturb them.
So my meter will be able to detect if a spirit is around.
Lot of interesting things up here, but none of them seem to be giving off any readings.
No, not at all.
You want to start in 24? - Sounds good.
- Okay.
I come from a scientific background, I like to figure things out.
I'm definitely skeptical, so I think, you know, I might be able to help out a bit with debunking things.
Or basically just looking at things in a different light.
When guests come in this room, they get a nauseous feeling.
Okay.
It's reading a slight spike right here.
Maybe we just got electric power lines back there.
Things like electrical outlets, wiring in the wall, appliances They give off very high EMF readings, so it's very important to rule out these areas when getting into an investigation.
- Nothing.
- No? Nope.
Why is it going off? As I was moving down the third floor hallway.
My EMF detector started going off.
We got someone up here with us? Okay.
There's something floating around here.
When we get readings like this that seem to be moving, to me that says energy cloud, and it's moving.
Where do you want me to go? Bedroom number three.
What is this? That is extensive water damage.
Wow.
I'm getting look at that.
I'm getting sporadic readings off of it.
Yeah.
Let me check this side.
Oh, it's on this side too.
Jeez.
Your father says that water holds energy, so What does water damage do? Let's check the attic.
Dude.
Room three is closed.
No.
We definitely left that door open.
Get your dad.
Get your dad on the walkie.
Let's check the attic.
Dude.
Room three is closed.
No.
We definitely left that door open.
When Chris and I were heading off to go to the attic, that door slammed.
Now, there's no wind, all the windows were closed, but I'm not gonna call it paranormal activity just yet.
Get your dad get your dad on the walkie.
Something keeps bringing us back into this room, and when we decided to to leave and go check out the attic.
Koooof! Door closes.
Well, she said the same thing.
- Really? - Yeah.
We already experienced a lot of activity in this place, but at this point we have more questions than answers.
So I'm having Aimee and Jason meet with Pete, a local historian who is like a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the Hulbert House.
The Hulbert House was one of the largest buildings that was put up.
It was constructed around 1812 and served as the headquarters of fun and social life in the town.
Do you know anything about a little girl dying here? Do you know if there's any record of that or anything? - Nothing that I'm aware of.
- Hmm.
The fact that Pete mentioned that there was no official record of a little girl passing away here, we're gonna probably have to focus our investigation in a different direction.
Do you know of any records of murders in the Hulbert House? Murders, officially there's no records of that.
There have been several people that did die in the building throughout its history.
What can you tell us about the Hulbert House during the prohibition era? Well, there are plenty of stories about wild parties, prostitution, gambling, and organized crime.
- Really? - Yes.
Alcohol was a big money maker back then.
A lot of Mafia activity, a lot of homegrown stuff.
- Here at the Hulbert House? - Yes.
Now that we know about possible Mafia activity here at the Hulbert House, that's another angle to cover in our investigation tonight.
Jason and Jesslyn will be taking the basement.
Chris and Brian will be covering surveillance, and Aimee and I will take the second floor.
All right.
So we got all the cameras set up? Yeah.
We'll be able to punch into any location from this command center.
Do we have anything in the attic, like above the third floor? We never managed to get up there.
Remember, the door slammed before we even go to the door.
I'm gonna take one of our handhelds and go scout it out myself.
- Okay.
- If you see something crazy coming at me, you'll let me know.
Got it.
Jason and Jesslyn, small room basement.
Were you involved in any sort of illegal activity? Not getting anything.
- Let's go again.
- Okay.
Were you a victim of the Mafia? Nothing.
All right.
Let's head up to the second floor.
All right.
Let's do it then.
We're gonna go in room 28? Yep.
- All right.
- You know what, it actually feels kinda It feels different in here.
There's a lotta whoa.
- What's up, what's up? - Somebody just pulled my hair.
Where'd it come from? Above me, like a taller person.
Did someone just touch me? Just keep going.
Okay.
This is where the guest died.
Holy [Bleep.]
.
Is the water on? Oh, my God, a shower.
Oh, my God.
The shower's on.
That was not on before.
This is an old building.
There's a good chance that these are just old, leaky faucets, so I don't think it's anything paranormal.
You know what, let's check out the other rooms.
Holy [Bleep.]
the water's on.
Open the shower.
- Okay.
- Sink's going.
They're both going.
The sink's going and bathtub's going.
Plumbing.
That's all I gotta say.
Plumbing.
Oh, man.
This floor doesn't seem too too sturdy.
I'm as far as I can go.
I'm at the end I'm by a chimney.
I'm getting crazy readings up here.
All right.
I see a lot of water here.
It it appears like there's either water, or was water coming down.
Uh, what do you see down there? Hold on a second.
Let me pan to it.
Yeah.
It just looks like regular old really bad water damage.
Yeah, see if there's anything that's out of place.
Hold on.
I see something hanging down from the ceiling.
I can't make it out.
I mean, it looks like it was either stuffed in the attic floor or in the ceiling.
Get your dad on the line.
Water is going in every single room.
Oh, my God, the sink's going too.
There's something going on.
John, we got some really crazy stuff going on.
We're probably gonna need you to come down right now.
Copy.
We're on our way.
I'm gonna have to veto that.
John, you've gotta get up to the third floor if you're not there already.
All right Bri, what's going on? Right above that room that we checked out yesterday, you gotta get up to that room right now.
We're getting some crazy stuff happening.
- Let's go up there.
- Let's all meet up.
Copy.
This is a pretty intense investigation.
I got Brian up in this attic.
I know the ceiling isn't safe.
Jess and Jason come telling me about the water turning on, but the one thing that I was staying focused on was water.
Right above what I believe to be room 3.
Brian, I'm in room 3 right now, buddy.
Is there a chimney? If there was one, I would think it'd probably be over in this area here.
Uh, if you can't find the chimney, I'm imagining it's where the water damage was the worst.
- Okay.
- It is not good up here, John.
It is really dangerous, so I don't want to be up here any longer than I have to.
All right, dude.
To the right.
- To the right of you.
- There's a wire hanging.
What's the wire hanging? Yeah.
You guys got it.
You're right on top of it.
It's right there.
All right, guys.
We got something here.
Oh, my God.
Come on down.
What the hell is it? To the right.
To the right of you.
Yeah, there's a wire.
What's that's the wire hanging? Yeah.
You guys got it.
You're you're right on top of it.
It's right there.
All right, guys.
We got something here.
Oh, my God.
Come on down.
Got it.
What the hell is it? Oh, my God, that thing's ice cold.
Chris, Brian, you guys better get up to the third floor.
What I have no clue what this is.
Why would somebody put that in a ceiling? Picking up on Hey, how you doing? This is what he actually pulled out of the ceiling.
- What's that? - What is that? It's got a metal base on it.
This is wood up here And here we end up finding this up where all the water damage is.
That bubble that we told you about, the energy bubble? - Yeah.
Right here.
- This is pretty bizarre.
I'm gonna see if I can't get a hold of somebody tomorrow to tell me what the heck this item even is.
Let's, uh, get the equipment packed up and, uh, let's get back and get some rest.
Gotcha.
I have my suspicions that this item may have been used as a weapon of some kind, so I'm taking it to a local expert, Bill Kiser.
Well, we're working down on a an investigation down at the Hulbert House.
- And - Okay.
Something we found in there, I'm kinda hoping you can give me some information on it.
Let's see what you got here.
This looks like it come out of like a keg back in the 1800s, but being hooked to the wire It almost looks like piano wire, doesn't it? You know, John, you know what this looks like to me? A Garrote.
- Garrote? - Yeah.
What's that actually mean? Um, well, there was a lot of Mafia activity - In this area in the early 1900s.
- Mm hum.
How it was used, you'd twist it around somebody's neck Mm-hmm.
Pu on it, strangle somebody silently.
That's a very interesting find.
Okay.
I appreciate you coming in.
Alright.
Thank you.
You helped me.
- Thank you.
- Take care.
Nice meeting you.
With all this information, I'm kind of excited right now.
I want to get back with Eileen, explain all this to her, how everything has actually unraveled with our investigation.
Eileen, we had so much going on in here, it's incredible.
I can't believe it.
You were telling me about where they saw the little girl near the washer and dryer.
Well, we were doing an EVP session right there, Electronic Voice Phenomena.
I'd like to play an EVP for you now.
Okay? Is there anyone down here with us at all? .
- Hearing it? - Wow.
"Help me".
Okay.
That's what I'm hearing also.
- Oh, my gosh.
- Yeah.
We couldn't find anything out about children dying here or anything, but we know that there was the local Mafia and everything and, you know, there's a good possibility that they stayed here right at the house.
Now, we had a couple of people up on the second floor, and as they were going through in the different locations, the sinks were turning on, the showers were turning on.
Now, this building is 200 years old, so that's probably just because of old leaky plumbing, not something paranormal.
Now, Chris and Brian got high readings on the third floor.
They called me and I came right up here, and I'm looking over in the corner, right in the center about here, and I see this wire hanging.
We pulled the wire out, and I'd like to show you that item right now.
Great.
We found out that the item was a Garrote.
It was called the silent killer And it was very much used by the Mafia when they wanted to extinguish somebody.
That is bizarre.
- That's kind of creepy.
- It is.
You don't even want to hold that.
No, I don't.
Thank you.
I hear ya.
I'd like to ask you, what would you like to do with this item? I think I'd like it removed if it's bringing in the negative Um, energy here, and I'd like that to stop.
- Okay.
- Thank you so much.
Thanks for having us.
- I really appreciate it.
- I'm glad to be able to help you out.
With this long and mysterious history Hulbert House will always be haunted, but now that we've removed the Garrote and the negative energy attached to it.
I hope Eileen can finally get back to running her bed and breakfast in peace.
My name is Kay Hurst.
We've been experiencing a lot of activity.
My husband has seen a woman in white.
I felt someone touch me on my neck.
I have a picture that falls for no reason.
We've heard voices in the house.
All of these experiences in the house have been causing me anxiety, so much so that my husband's had to take me to the hospital.
I don't know what this spirit wants from us, but it's been acting up and we really need it to stop.
We're gonna to be going to the home of Kay and Eddie Hurst.
What did you guys find out? Kay lives in the King House which is considered the most haunted location in Mayport.
According to history, it burned down in 1881, and was rebuilt into a mansion.
In 1940, John King inherited the house and started having paranormal phenomena, and the haunting's have continued with different families as well.
Kay's to a point where she's literally scared of this house.
So to me, the bottom line is helping her out and hoping that she can live there in peace.
Why don't you guys get the equipment all set? Aimee and I are gonna go meet the client, Jess, you go and talk to the husband.
You're that I'm petrified of this house? Mm-hum, I've never been in it alone.
She was pitchforked in the face.
Think we're gonna get a lot of activity in there.
- Are you seeing this? - Pull back.
What the hell is that? You've got to be kidding me.
The King House has been plagued for decades by paranormal activity.
Kay, the current owner of the home, has been terrified to stay in there, so my team and I are here to investigate.
Hopefully we can get to the bottom of the activity and Kay can live in peace in her home.
Hi, Kay.
Hi.
Glad you're here.
Come on in.
Okay.
Why don't you show us around? - This is the living room.
- All right.
The town here used to have church in here.
So they probably had wakes and funerals and different things.
- Yes.
- Okay.
All right.
This chair Is where I was sitting at one time and there was a white It almost looked like a woman, over top of me.
And this is where my dog actually will sit and look up at the ceiling and bark.
- Okay.
- For no reason.
And I want to show you these milk bottles.
These were found underneath of the stairwell.
I'm not sure how old they are.
We brought them out, though.
Did you find activity increased or anything when you took these items out, when you found them and put them out? Yes.
And the bird This is my parrot.
She does talk.
She has a very limited vocabulary.
When we placed her in here, she was saying "hello, hello," and she looked towards the door over there, and said, "hello, Howard".
My husband and I know no one by the name of Howard.
And since then, she's actually talked to Howard a lot.
Dogs, cats, and birds are very sensitive to different energy.
So I find that very interesting.
This is the dining room.
The picture on the wall, we actually found that under the steps, too.
We hung it up But it falls off the wall.
And it's anchored on there really good, so it shouldn't fall.
Okay.
I actually took the picture off the wall and I took a look at it.
The hook that's on the back of it is pretty secure.
There's no logical explanation why it should be falling.
This is the kitchen.
This is where I've had the worst feeling.
I get up at 4:00, came down, make coffee.
And I had a feeling like somebody was standing behind me.
Like the hair on the back of my neck actually stood up.
And then I felt like somebody push on my neck.
And I stopped making the coffee, went upstairs, got back in bed.
And after that we had to move the coffee maker upstairs for quite a few months.
Would you not come in this area - for a period of time? - I wouldn't come in it by myself, no.
I've actually never been in the house alone.
- You're that petrified of this house? - Mm-hmm.
I've never been in it alone.
And this was another item that I found in the closet under the steps.
Well, Kay, you found a lot of things underneath there then.
Yes, we did.
Now, I'm always very suspicious with things that get left behind by people.
You gotta be careful with these types of things.
You don't know, they could have been used in slaughter.
So we're gonna have to take a look at this during our sweep.
All right.
Let's check the next spot out.
This is the bathroom.
This is where my husband saw behind him - Mm hum.
- A woman in the mirror.
Okay.
She was pretty clear, and it was like she had something draped over her.
And she was just kind of sitting there with her hands between her legs.
She has long, dark hair, kind of white, like bed clothes.
And I would say in her mid-ages.
Do you know much about the mirror or anything? - No.
- Where Mirrors, a lot of times they've been used for occult practices and things like that, too, and spirit energy can actually get trapped in different mirrors.
And this room here The one story that, actually my grandson heard from school Is that a girl about the age of 14 was accidentally - Killed in this room.
- Okay.
Uh, she was playing with a playmate in the room, and she bumped her head and it killed her.
And this is the widow's peak.
My son-in-law saw the same woman In a long white dress standing at the edge of the bed.
Okay.
Well, now I'm gonna bring the team in here.
Hopefully I'm gonna be able to bring you some answers, and you can live in your home in peace.
I hope so.
Thank you.
All right.
You're welcome.
Okay.
There's a lot of frightening activity happening here.
So I'm having Jason and Aimee see what they can dig up on the history of the King House.
While the rest of the team does a baseline sweep.
This is the room, they saw a figure in the reflection of the mirror.
It's a lot of light that can come through this bathroom and bounce off different things.
- No readings? - None at all.
Yeah.
Neither am I.
Let's try an EVP session up here - All right.
- And let's see if we can get anything.
This is our RT-EVP recorder.
So we're going to be measuring EVPs in real time.
The RT-EVP recorder plays back the question that you've just asked on a constant loop.
And keeps recording.
It also cancels out background noise, making it easier to hear a possible EVP that you've just recorded.
Did you once live in this house? Or did you once live on this land? Did you once live in this house? Or did you once live on this land? - Are you getting anything? - No.
That picture is supposed to have fallen off the wall.
Getting any readings off of it? Nada.
Moving on.
This is the room that reportedly Kay got grabbed in.
Oh, this cleaver.
That looks old.
That's really old.
Give me a reading off of it.
No readings? Not at all.
I don't know, I'd put my money on this.
They said something about a little girl possibly dying here in the house.
- Right? - Mm-hmm.
Well, let's, you know, see if she relates to that.
Go ahead Is there a little girl in here with us? Is there a little girl in here with us? I'm getting footsteps.
Go ahead, play that back.
Play that back, we got footsteps.
Is there a little girl in here with us? - Right there.
- You got three footsteps.
- One, two, three.
- Yes.
These carafes are original to the house.
I haven't been getting much.
So this is the parrot that is talking to Howard apparently? Yeah.
Yeah.
He actually says "Hello, Howard".
And Kay and Eddie have no idea who this Howard is.
Hello.
I don't seem to be getting much in this room.
Oh, yeah? John and I are just here to help you And we want to know if someone hurt you.
We decided to try the K2 meter to try and get a response from whatever presence might be in the widow's peak.
What about in here? Did you play in this crawlspace when you lived here? Whoa.
He is pissed.
This guy's flipping out.
Shh! Are you still here with me? Did somebody hurt you in this house? Are you still here with me? Did somebody hurt you in this house? Whoa.
Well, he's been quiet the whole time.
Yeah.
Why now? That's three different types of communication we're getting here tonight.
I had my hand out here, and that knock I felt the vibration, seriously, right above my hand right here.
Scared the crap out of me.
I was completely taken aback when we got that knock in the widow's peak.
Well, whatever is in here, it's trying to make contact.
It was crazy.
Well, you better hold onto your seat, cuz we're gonna get a lot of activity in this place.
I think so, too.
- Hi, bill.
- Hey, welcome.
Bill's a local writer.
He's been studying the King family his entire life.
And he actually used to hear ghost stories from John King himself.
So we're real excited to see what we're gonna find out from him.
So, bill, what is it about the King family that fascinated you so much? Growing up right behind the house kind of ignited the whole thing.
There's been ghosts in that house since I was a little boy, and way before that.
And I believe that there's evil coming out of that house.
Kay said her grandson heard a story at school about a 14-year-old girl that died in the house.
Do you know anything about that? I don't know anything about that.
I really know a lot about the place, but one of the interesting stories that John told us was about his aunt uh, Viola Uh, being pitchforked to death in this green rocking chair.
And it was a lover's quarrel-type thing.
And, uh, she was pitchforked in the face.
Oh, my God.
And uh, he would always make sure that, people knew that story because she was there.
Most of the people that came there died early Or violently.
When you die like that, you leave something behind.
Hearing that someone was actually pitchforked in the face in that house I'm a little apprehensive about going to the investigation tonight.
But I'm also really excited to see what kind of facts we can substantiate.
Jason, look at this.
You know how the parrot always says "Hello, Howard.
Hello, Howard".
And it freaks everybody out, they don't know who Howard is.
- It says right here, Howard King.
- Howard King.
Okay.
It says he was the grandson of William King who built the house.
It's interesting.
What'd you come up with? Check this out.
Apparently a relative of Mr.
King was brutally murdered while sitting in the old rocker.
According to some, her body was thrown into the river across the house.
So she was brutally murdered in the house.
Jesslyn said that she felt a strong presence and it was communicating with her.
Maybe that's Viola.
Exactly.
Any time anybody is violently murdered, their energy and their spirit can linger.
Is it Viola's spirit that is here? I'm hoping we'll find out tonight.
Aimee and Jason will take the living room.
Chris and Brian will monitor the cameras from the second floor.
And Jess and I will be in the widow's peak.
All right, so we got all the cameras set up? Yeah.
Me and Brian are gonna be spearheading the surveillance system.
10 cameras are gonna be set up, and it's really good for, like, this big house because there are so many hot spots, we can't cover them all by ourselves.
Looks like they're doing a session in there.
Alright, we'll start out with a RT-EVP session.
Okay.
Rolling.
Is there a woman in here with us right now? Is your name Viola? Is there a woman in here with us right now? Is your name Viola? Did you hear anything? - No.
- No.
Yeah.
They don't like they're really getting much.
Actually, let's just see if anything else is going on.
Someone was up here last night.
Viola, was that you? I think she's gone.
Do you want to try over in that crawlspace? Yeah.
I'll go over there.
Okay.
Whoever was talking to me last night, trying to communicate with me Did you hear a knock like we were hearing last night? Mm-hmm.
Will you knock for me instead? One knock for yes, two knocks for no.
Viola, is that you? Yes.
She's in the crawlspace.
Are you seeing this, it looks a little Look at all, look at all that.
Yeah, what is it all? I mean, there's a ton of them.
It looks like moisture to me.
Hey, John, I know this is gonna be a weird question, but is it Is it raining in your room? Is there a window open? No.
There's only one window up here and it's closed and actually we're right by it.
I'm asking because we caught a couple of just, random things flying by.
I was wondering if anything you're doing up there is kicking up some visual activity.
There is some communication going, but no visual or anything like that at this point in time.
Oh, God.
This floor doesn't seem too safe.
- Ready to get out of there? - Yeah.
Looks like things moving about.
- There's something going on up there.
- Yeah.
I don't know what they are.
They're not dust, they're not bugs.
Yo dude.
Dude, there's more.
- What is it all? - Wow.
Alright Chris, I'm gonna see if I can figure out what that is.
I want to get eyes on that.
I have to maintain an air of skepticism with these floating anomalies.
I'm not just gonna say, hey, paranormal, this is ghostly activity.
But these things that I was seeing, they were just floating, and they didn't seem like your typical dust.
All right.
Come look at this.
- What? - All right, you see this? You see that? Yeah.
It's gotta be coming from the vents or something.
I'm gonna go snake through and find out what's going on.
Seeing it on the HD Cam is one thing, but I was literally walking through a field of them.
And seeing it with the naked eye, all I could think of at the moment was the vents.
Hmm.
All right.
Well, this definitely hasn't been cleaned in a while.
I'm not seeing much at all.
Well, nothing intriguing.
I was looking through the cameras and I noticed one more vent downstairs where the parrot is.
Oh, the parrot room, my favorite.
I'm just letting you know.
All right.
All right.
- Here, you hold this.
- Okay.
Yeah.
- I'm gonna feed.
- Okay.
- Alright, you getting a picture? - Uh, I do have picture.
Nothing yet of interest.
Keep going.
Keep going.
All right, I'm seeing something down there.
- Yeah, see it? - Sure, man, right there.
Yeah.
- Oh.
- What the hell is this? I don't know.
Yep, look at this.
- What is it? - Pull back.
- What is that? - Oh, my God.
Are you getting a picture? Uh, I do have picture.
Nothing yet of interest.
Keep going.
Keep going.
After prying off the vent, I was able to get the Snake Cam down maybe about an arm's length.
Still nothing.
All right.
I'm seeing something down there.
- Yeah.
See it? - Sure, man, right there, yeah.
- Oh.
- What the hell is that? I don't know.
Yep.
Look at this.
- What is it? - Pull back.
What is that? Oh, my God.
- Oh.
- Okay.
- What is it, Bri? - It looks like a locket.
- Oh, my God.
- You've got to be kidding me.
All right.
Call your dad.
- Call your dad, yeah.
- Yeah.
I'm getting him right now.
Uh, dad, could you guys come down to the first floor? Brian's got something here.
On our way.
Following those wisps led me to the locket.
Is there a connection? I don't know.
- What do you got? - A locket, I think.
- All right.
- Here.
All right.
Well, this is super significant.
Viola was murdered here in this room right over in this corner.
- And here we find this locket.
- Hmm.
I want to take this to an expert tomorrow to see what we can actually find out about it.
Can we line any of this up with the time of Viola? I don't know.
I'm going to meet with a local expert, Frank Thorpe.
He's a leading authority on antique jewelry.
Hi, John.
Why don't we go out back? Okay.
I'm very interested to see what he could find out about this locket.
Well, Frank, I'm working on an investigation not that far away from here.
During the course of our investigation, we actually had found an item in there, and I'm kind of hoping you could tell me some information about it.
This is known as a love token.
Or uh, love jewelry.
- Okay.
- They were very popular from the '30s.
Up till the '50s.
And this one comes apart.
It would've had a photograph inside.
Mm-hum.
And this one has the notation "forever" on it.
When you gave this it was like a going-steady or Maybe pre-engagement.
Okay.
Frank, that information was very helpful to me.
I appreciate you taking the time.
- You're very welcome, Sir.
- Thank you, Sir.
We'll never know for sure that this locket belonged to Viola.
But I want to take all this information and get back with Kay, present it to her.
And come up with a conclusion on this whole story.
- How you doing, Kay? - Good.
All right.
In light of our investigation, what we ended up finding out was there was a person that lived here by the name of Howard King.
So I think the bird was actually picking up on it.
When Aimee and Jason were out doing their research.
They also found another King, Viola King.
Now, that was John King's aunt.
And she had lived here in the house also.
And her boyfriend took a pitchfork and actually stabbed her and she was murdered right over in this spot.
Oh, my God.
So, we were up on the third floor.
And we had this crazy like mist, that just started appearing in the staircase.
Why? I don't know.
But they actually had the camera going down underneath the floor and everything.
And to my amazement They found this little locket.
I don't know what to think.
I am just so freaked out by the fact that the locket was found where it was found.
Uh, it's just like Beyond what I can grasp right now.
In another bizarre twist to this whole story She was never buried.
She was thrown across the street in the river.
What I would really like to do, and hoping is gonna bring some closure For Viola and you.
Is that you and I, we're gonna throw this in the river where her body was dumped.
That sounds wonderful to me, and I thank you so much.
- Okay.
You're very welcome.
- For everything.
John wanting to throw the locket in the river is a very good idea.
I do not want it here.
And I hope that the activities will stop.
I think they will.
- Let's get in the boat, kiddo.
- Let's go.
Placing the locket in the river where Viola's body was left I'm hoping that this will allow her spirit to finally rest in peace.
And maybe this gesture will stop some of the negative activity that has been threatening Kay and her family.
Howard.
