Haunted Collector (2011) s02e08 Episode Script

Bare Bones - Octagon Haunting

- On this episode of Haunted Collector Welcome to our business, Barebones Tattoo Parlor.
In the mid-1800s, it was not a pleasant way to die.
When I was first renovating, I started digging bones out of the wall.
Bones? Octagon Hall used to be a plantation.
This is the Slave Cemetery.
Are you buried out here? This large shadowy image stepped out, and everything went black.
- Hear that? - I heard that.
Oh, my God.
What was that? - Johnny! - There it is.
- Open the wall up.
- Oh, my God.
We need to get the police in here.
This is a potential crime scene.
My name is John Zaffis.
For over 40 years, I've been helping people with their paranormal problems.
I found that spirits can attach themselves to objects.
- Whoa! - Oh, there it goes! Oh, my God! And make life a living hell.
That's where my team comes in.
My son Chris My daughter Aimee Brian, my tech guy Jason, my researcher And Jesslyn, my investigator.
My job? - What is that? - Don't touch that thing.
Find the haunted item and remove it, because I am The Haunted Collector.
I want you guys to watch this case that came in um I'm a little concerned about this whole situation.
Hi, John.
My name is Janet.
We've lived in this house for a little over seven years now.
I have three children and a husband, Duane.
My kids have experienced Waking up in the middle of the night to a man staring at them.
We've heard blood-curdling screams.
We've dug into the wall to remodel our garage into a tattoo shop, and we found bones.
We would like you to come in and investigate the house.
If you don't help us, we may have to move out due to making sure my kids are safe and comfortable in their own home.
Well, I definitely think she's trying to make heads or tails of what's going in this house.
Yeah.
So let's get packed up and let's head out.
All right, guys.
Here we are in Forestville, New York.
I heard from Janet and Duane.
Now, the house is fairly old.
It's their home, but they have their business attached to it, a tattoo parlor.
They're very concerned at some of the stuff that's going on.
Now, I had you guys check into some of the history.
What were you able to find out about it? The village of Forestville is actually part of the larger town of Hanover, and the town is approaching its bicentennial.
The house that they live in is dated back to the 1820s.
You know, what's interesting is the house actually sits adjacent to a cemetery, and there are soldiers from the civil war, the revolutionary war, war of 1812 All buried in that graveyard.
And that's right alongside the house.
They sit right next to it, yeah.
Who knows about that home and the cemetery? Are there any connections here? That's what we're gonna find out.
Why don't you guys get the equipment all set? Jess, see what you can actually dig up on the property.
- Hi.
- Hi, Janet.
- John Zaffis.
- Nice to meet you.
This is my daughter, Aimee Zaffis.
- Hi nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
Come on in.
This is my husband, Duane.
Hi.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Welcome to our home and our business, Barebones Tattoo Parlor.
We've lived here for the past seven years, and when we received the deed to the home, we realized that nobody lived here much more than five years at a time, and everybody has seemed to move out.
Okay.
What's happening? What we've actually witnessed in the house is the muffled voices, footsteps up and down the stairs, and the sense of somebody's always watching you.
- Yes.
- Always.
So, Duane, tell us about your work here.
I've tattooed personally over a couple thousand people just here on my one machine over here.
I can easily say this has got a couple thousand people on it.
Ah, as we know, getting blood on these items, can they hold on to the energy? Absolutely.
Most likely, Duane's tattoo business is not causing paranormal activity.
But there are those theories that bloodletting can actually attract spirits.
When I was first originally renovating here, I started digging bones out of the wall.
Bones? Bones.
I personally stopped digging after finding so many.
So I'm sure there are still more in the wall.
So you sealed the wall back up? Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
This here would be the wall that I had found bones in.
I'm kinda hoping, you know, you'll allow my team to actually break open the wall to see if we could find something out for you.
Yeah.
We need all the help that we can get right now.
This is where most of the activity happens.
You'll hear running up and down the stairs, and when we had moved in, we noticed this.
I don't know where it came from.
So you don't know if that came from somebody you know? As far as I know, no.
It's an old wooden Police Baton, and a lot of times, they could have been used with too much force.
You know, the wooden ones aren't used at all any more.
This is my son's room.
As my son Damian, my 3-year-old says, there's a bad guy in the closet.
We have to put a blanket over the alcove door so that they can't see in there, because they don't like when they see the guy staring at them.
We have the attic here.
- I don't go near it.
- How come? When I step into it, I feel like I get pushed out.
Have you ever really talked to any of the neighbors? We haven't really talked to many people, other than the previous homeowners.
Did you have any experiences yourself living here? It started the day we moved in.
It was just my husband and I here, and this front door here, that's behind you, was locked, and there was a coat stand almost touching it.
The door flew open, and the coat stand hit this wall over here.
Tell me about the second floor.
Anything going on upstairs that you couldn't explain when you lived here? My son was very uncomfortable in his bedroom.
He just felt that there was somebody watching him or there was somebody in the room with him.
When we did a walk-through to buy the house, we had seen this.
I think it might be, like, an old-time refrigerator to keep things cold.
Well, we're right next to a cemetery.
And years ago, they used to build these vaults.
And in the wintertime, they would store the bodies in 'em, cause they didn't have the machinery to dig the ground, because everything was frozen.
And in the springtime, they would retrieve the bodies, and they would properly bury them.
I'm kinda hoping Aimee could dig in and find out some research on it to see what it was actually used for.
We've had some activity down here.
You'll be in here when there's nobody else around, the footsteps across the floor upstairs.
Well, we definitely got a lot to look at.
Right now, I'd like to get the team in here to see what we can actually come up with.
- Thank you so much.
- Okay? This house has a lot to look into on our baseline sweep.
We have the tattoo parlor where the bones were found in the wall.
We have a Police Baton of unknown origin and a mysterious structure in the backyard.
And all of this right next to an old cemetery.
Guess we'll start in this room first.
- Yeah, the little boy's room? - Yeah.
Oh, hello.
All right, this room is kind of interesting.
This closet is where the little boy says he sees an evil man.
Getting a reading.
Yup, there is a plug.
- Oh.
- Electrical.
That'll do it.
- Let's move out in hallway.
- Sounds good.
Where we've got this Police Baton.
That thing looks mean.
What's that door lead to? This is the attic, I think.
She said that anytime she opens this door, she feels like she's being pushed back out.
- Really? - Let's find out ourselves.
All right.
Got it.
Okay.
Got a flashlight? Here you go, buddy.
Here it is again.
I keep getting these big readings, and then it goes away.
There's a logical explanation that animals could get in through here, maybe get into the wall and die, and that could explain the bones and some of the sounds.
- Very true.
- It's not explaining this, though.
Raccoons and squirrels do not give off EMF.
There's a lot of stuff in here I think tomorrow we're gonna have to clear it out and really get in there.
Jess this is where Duane does a lot of his tattooing.
It just feels different in here than it does from in the house.
What are these? Look like needle points.
Try a little EMF in here and just see if there's anything.
It spiked to a point 9.
Look at that! Go back down the other end.
It's going back up.
Have to be careful, because there is a power cord right behind it.
Let's do a test.
Let's see.
- Good catch.
- Now, it is dropping.
Good catch.
I mean, we're kinda far from the house.
I mean, this is Cemetery's over there.
Ooh.
- Yeah, I'm not getting much off of this.
- Yeah, me, neither.
All right, just in case, um, let's put a camera out here tomorrow night I mean just because we didn't find anything.
- Doesn't mean there's nothing here.
- Yeah.
- Alright, let's go meet up with your Dad.
- Yeah.
Bloop.
Immediately, we're just going up.
- Okay.
- All right.
Hey, what's going on, Johnny? - Hey, guys.
- Hey, guys.
How are you doing? Good.
Good.
We just finished our sweep of the floors, and some things we were able to debunk.
Others, not quite sure.
Okay.
Well, the same thing here, though.
But we seem to be getting a little activity over here, so I say we open the wall up.
If he's cool with that, we're game.
- Okay.
- All right.
There you go.
Now you got it.
Holy crap! What is it? Holy crap! We got bones, John.
All right, don't touch them.
So there's part over there.
Looks like something over there.
I even think I see fragments littered throughout here.
- Oh, my God.
- Ugh.
All right.
Let's not touch anything.
Let's not move anything.
Duane gave us permission to open up the wall where he had found bones.
Now that we actually did discover some more bones in there, we gotta be careful.
We need to get the police in here.
I need to find out if those are human remains or animal remains.
We need to know.
All right, let's get out of here.
Man it's crazy out here.
It really is.
Duane and Janet's home is over 200 years old, so there's a lot of history.
Amy and I are gonna go down to the County clerk's office, and we're gonna try to dig up as much information as we can.
So Amy and I are actually doing an investigation at the home right next to pioneer cemetery.
Can you tell us of any accidents or deaths? The reverend James Bennett bought it in 1865.
He had a son who died at the age of 27 from Tuberculosis, and he's buried in the cemetery with his Father.
There were two other children who died quite young Two boys, Charles at six months, and there was another grandson who died at 10 years, also buried with their grandfather in that cemetery.
Okay.
I'm gonna head back over here where the bones are.
Okay.
Because we found bones here, I had to call in the local Sheriff, who brought in the coroner to remove the bones and analyze the evidence.
Typically, we have our clients stay off-site so that we can investigate objectively.
But in this case, I had to inform them of what was happening.
You know, we broke open the wall, and we did find remains in there.
We found bones, quite a few of them in there, actually.
So, naturally, the Sheriff and the coroner and all them got contacted.
They're going to be tested to find out whether they're human or animal.
- I'd rather be safe than sorry.
- Okay.
- I'd rather know something like that.
- All right.
We'll see guys tomorrow.
- See you tomorrow.
- See you tomorrow.
With the bones in the hands of the authorities, now it's time for us to do our job.
In tonight's investigation, Jason will be watching the monitors on the first floor.
Jess and Chris will be checking out the second floor.
Brian and I will focus on the tattoo shop and then the basement.
Let's rock and roll.
From this angle, hopefully, you should be able to see the entire way to the door where the shadow was seen going outside.
Yeah, buddy, we got full coverage.
All the IR cameras are in place.
Let's get into the night sweep.
Awesome.
Let's give it a shot.
Here we go.
Are you the one that's been speaking to the little boy in here? Is there a reason why you're scaring the children? Hearing really heavy footfalls? Really heavy footsteps.
Is that you walking around? We kept hearing these footsteps like they were coming up the stairs and standing in front of the attic.
I don't know, dude.
I mean, we're hearing, like, banging and stuff right over here.
- Definite footsteps.
- Wait do you hear it again? Mm-hmm.
I definitely want to get in there, so You want me to go in the attic? I mean, I'm going in.
You can follow if you'd like.
It's not too bad.
You know what? Let's try a few EVPs right over in this area.
All right.
I think at the same time, too, I'm gonna set up the REM Pod.
Sounds good to me.
Okay.
Is there a reason why you keep scaring the children? Do you know the man in the little boy's closet? Can you tell me your name? Let's see what we got.
Okay.
Is there a reason why you keep scaring the children? Do you know the man in the little boy's closet? Can you tell me your name? Jerome.
- Bingo.
- You hear that? - I heard that.
- Wow.
Put your headphones up.
Can you tell me your name? Jerome.
Tell me what you're hearing.
Jerome.
.
Think it has to do with this spot or just the house in general? I don't know, but we're gonna find out.
I'm not sure of the significance of the name Jerome, but this was a very strong EVP, so I want to check with Jason, since he's done research on the history of this house.
Can you tell me your name? .
I think he says Jerome.
- That's what we heard.
- I think that I've got an idea here.
Follow me.
When I heard the name Jerome, I remembered from the research, we had gone through so many names of the families that lived here.
And, you know, I just had kind of a hunch.
Okay, guys.
So, I mean, the Bennetts owned this property, and a lot them are buried in this cemetery.
And I'm pretty sure that Jerome is one of the Bennetts.
Head over towards the other end guys, - where the older ones are first.
- Alright sounds good.
- Let's head that way.
- Good luck, man.
What's this wall back here? It looks like there used to be a door or something.
That was a little weird.
Oh.
Oh, my God.
I just thought this entire time this was the end.
Oh, my God.
Be careful, Chris.
.
This is hard to read.
Alright what's this guys name? Johnny! - Hello.
- Got something? There is nothing back here.
There's just more boards.
Hold on.
- Oh, my God, what is that? - Oh (Bleep)! We got James Bennett.
You got the Bennetts? "Lois Gates, wife of reverend James Bennett".
What the hell is this? This is very hard to read, but this is it.
There it is.
"Jerome P.
Bennett".
There it is.
"Jerome P.
Bennett".
- What do we know about him? - Well there's To be honest, we know not much.
Why don't you call Aimee? We got a very clear EVP tonight with the name Jerome.
And now we found the tombstone for Jerome Bennett.
I'm not sure yet how this is all connecting But I think we're getting closer.
.
1852, huh? We now know that Jerome Bennett lived in the Lyndsley's house And died a horrible death.
Is this somehow tied to the paranormal activity Janet and Duane are experiencing? Let's go head back over to the house.
Dad, you there? What's happening, buddy? Me and Jess are up in the attic, and I don't know what we got, but we found something.
- Hey, guys.
- Hey.
Look what I found.
- What? - Well that's interesting.
We definitely wanna get this to somebody so they can tell me a little bit more about it.
We're here at the University of Buffalo.
I'm gonna be meeting with a woman by the name of Pam Ross.
I'm hoping she can verify what this item is.
Pam, this is one of the items we had actually found.
Oh, look at this.
No markings.
This looks to be a Actually, a leech jar, probably from the 1800s.
You'll notice there are holes here and in the top, but too small for a leech to escape.
Pam, what is the purpose of in the medical field using the leeches? Well, the leeches were thought to cure the patient.
By letting some blood out of the system, it was thought that the disease would be gone.
And in the mid-1800s, because antibiotics were not yet invented, this was an extremely common practice for fever, fatigue, and even Tuberculosis.
It's an Infectious Disease, so it would transmit itself through the town very quickly, and so they would isolate the patients who they had diagnosed as having TB.
It was not a pleasant way to die.
A leech jar is the last thing you would expect to find in someone's attic But the fact that leeches were used to treat Tuberculosis makes me wonder.
Is this somehow connected with Jerome Bennett? - Well, Janet, good to see you again.
- Hi.
Nice seeing you.
As you know, we had opened up the part of the wall up there.
We were able to substantiate that there were still indeed some bones in there.
But we were able to find out that they were indeed animal remains.
Okay.
I am very relieved to see that they had analyzed the bones and they came back as animal and not human.
We looked into the hutch structure that's out back there.
It turns out that it was actually built by a family that lived here in the late '40s, early '50s as a shelter.
During that time, there was a lot of scare about air raids, so that's what that is, kind of a safe place.
So we had come back in, and we set up, and we were doing our overnight investigation in here.
We ended up down in the basement.
Now, there's something that's very significant.
It's an EVP that I would like you to listen to.
Okay.
Can you tell me your name? .
I hear the name Jerome.
Okay.
What we were able to find out is that the Bennett family had lived here for, what, several generations, correct? - Yes.
- And they had a son named Jerome.
Jerome Bennett died at age 27 of Tuberculosis.
He died in 1852.
Now, Chris and Jesslyn, they ended up going into the attic area, and they actually found something.
What this actually is is a leeching pot.
They would place leeches on the body, trying to bleed them To actually try and cure them from what they had.
Now, also with the Tuberculosis, they always had one room in the house that they would isolate because it was extremely contagious.
- You know, like a little attic area.
- Mm-hum.
And they would keep them away from everybody else.
So, Janet, it is possible that Jerome was treated with leeches for his Tuberculosis, and this is the jar that was used.
Hmm.
At this time, I'd like to ask you, what would you like to do with this item? I would like for you to take it out of my home.
Okay.
I am so relieved that John had found out what is causing our uneasiness.
And I think that we can actually go on living in a peaceful environment and not have to worry about what's gonna happen next.
Throughout history, water has been used as a purifying element.
By placing the leech jar in the running water, I'm hoping this will cleanse the item of its negative energy and finally bring peace to the suffering spirit of Jerome Bennett.
Hi, John.
This is Bill Byrd at the Octagon Hall in Franklin, Kentucky.
Octagon Hall is on the national register of historic places.
As we have our tours come through, we've actually had some groups leave the house in terror.
One of our volunteers was attacked by a shadow figure.
Honestly, we need your help.
Okay, guys.
Here we are in Franklin, Kentucky.
Octagon Hall.
It used to be a plantation.
Billy turned it into a civil war museum to preserve it.
Now, I told you guys to check into a few things.
How'd everybody make out? I learned that Andrew Jackson Caldwell and his wife, Harriet, actually laid the foundation in 1847 and finished the building in 1859.
Right before the civil war.
What's very rare about the building is that it has eight outward-facing sides.
And it's one of the very few in the world that have those.
That's something that's very interesting.
Caldwell himself was such a supporter of the confederacy that he actually put his home up kind of as a safe spot for the troops to come, and they used the whole second floor as a hospital.
Could some of those energies be lingering at Octagon Hall? We will be finding out.
You guys get the equipment set up.
Jess, you go talk to some witnesses.
Hey, Billy.
Good to see you.
Come on in.
All right.
So, Billy, tell me about Octagon Hall.
Our purpose here at the museum is to try to recreate a day in the life of the Caldwell family.
We started bringing items into the hall.
We started hearing some strange noises.
Over time, it seems to be continually ramping up.
I'll hear voices upstairs, I'll hear a little girl singing.
Shadow figures, things moving on their own.
So you're gonna have an interesting time, I guarantee it.
She was a little girl who caught her dress on fire.
This large shadowy image stepped out and everything went black.
Are you buried out here? - What the hell? - Do you hear that? We started hearing some strange noises.
Over time, it seems to be continually ramping up.
I'll hear voices upstairs.
I'll hear a little girl singing.
Shadow figures, things moving on their own.
Guys, this is the winter kitchen.
A couple of things that have happened here especially are apparitions of a little girl.
I've seen her in this area.
I thought that it was actually a little girl.
I said, "hon, can I help you?" And she started to turn and then just basically faded away.
That kind of alarmed me.
We think it's Mary Elizabeth Caldwell.
She was the little girl that was playing in the fireplace, caught her dress on fire, and it was fatal to her.
We had a tour group here from Michigan, and I was telling them the story of the room, and the pot started to vibrate, and then it swung completely out, which was witnessed by about 25 people.
They actually ran out of the house in terror.
John, Aimee, this is what we call the nursery.
This is Mary Elizabeth's room.
One thing that happens, especially to males, they feel like they're being pushed out of the room.
Uh, over here behind you, we actually have one of the original family gowns that we've placed on this mannequin.
The white represents purity and goodness, which is something any parent would want their child to be, so up until about the age of five, they would dress both the boys and girls in the white gowns.
This is what we call the hospital room.
Over here, I've got a wheelchair that was donated to us, which is really one of the most unusual I've ever seen, with all the gears and steering mechanisms and all that.
This wheelchair will actually move out three and four feet on its own.
We have a volunteer that saw a shadow figure.
It actually charged him across the room.
I was in the main room, and I heard footsteps up here, um, and it sounded like heavy boot steps walking back and forth, back and forth.
I thought there was an intruder in the house.
- Mm-hmm.
- I started coming up the steps.
Just as I approached the top landing I heard a male voice.
I said, "you know, if you're up here, you need to come out, so I can see you".
And as I said that, I saw this large, dark, um, shadowy image stepped out into the doorway behind us.
Uh, it took up most of the doorway.
Its head was close to the top of the door frame.
I saw it coming at me, and then the next thing I knew, I was seeing stars.
Uh, everything went black.
It was several weeks before I came back in here.
The overwhelming fear that it put in me is something that it's kind of haunted me ever since.
This is the Caldwell Slave Cemetery.
You'll notice that it's a circle of trees.
You can tell that this was specifically designed for their resting spot.
Do you have any activity out here? We'll see a lot of shadow figures Flicking around the trees.
There are reports of shadow figures and activity, especially around unmarked graves.
And what people say is that it's actually the spirit looking for the The tombstone of their loved ones.
And being stuck there because they're not able to find it.
It's definitely a lot of information.
We're gonna do our baseline sweep and see what we could find out for you, Sir.
That's exactly what we want.
Okay, Sir.
I usually try to look for logical explanations on why some of these things are happening.
I'm hoping that we could come in and actually debunk several of the things that are occurring here at Octagon Hall.
So this is the wheelchair that they find in the middle of the room.
Supposedly.
Check the floor.
How's the floor? Is the floor kind of slanted? Yeah, it does seem to be on a slope, like, towards the middle.
Yeah, give it a little push and it just keeps going.
- Mmm.
- So Just the weight of it.
After looking at the floor, the floor wasn't exactly level.
So just the slightest bit of force upon it might cause it to roll.
And once the momentum has started, it's gone.
They get a lot of activity back here where the cemetery is.
We have to go down through here.
This is really creepy at night.
This is the pot that starts to swing.
Did they block the chimney off or something? Could it be just like a draft pushing it? Well, there's no flue open.
I mean, there's no way up here.
This is all Gas, so it's not like, uh I think it's the heat.
It's gonna create a flow going up.
The metal is going to expand, and it's probably is just gonna move.
Yeah, I kinda don't think that this is a Paranormal in nature.
Okay, I'm gonna try the Ovilus out here.
Let's see if we get any result.
System ready.
Are you buried out here? We didn't check this room out, did we? Dude, look at all the stuff in here Grinding stones, saws, saddles, tools.
Did you just make like a jingling bell sound? I heard that, but I was moving I was touching this holster at the time.
There's a chain here, and that wasn't it.
That's it again.
Go.
Go, go, go.
Dad, you up here? Sounded like it was coming from up here.
Oh, this is the hospital room.
Point 7.
All right, stay there.
Don't move.
Close your eyes.
Is this what you think we heard? Yeah.
I'm not getting a reading off of it.
This is definitely the kind of bell I thought I heard.
That room was a civil war hospital.
It's was a treatment room.
As far as I know, bells were used to summon nurses.
I don't know if it's something that was summoning us up to the second floor.
There's definitely something going on in this room.
Are you buried here with your family? Battle.
Battle.
Battle.
Maybe.
Battle.
Did you die in battle? How many are out here with us? Three.
Three? How many are out here with us? Three.
Three? The Ovilus had said three.
Could this be referring to three spirits? I'm not quite sure, but it's something I'm not gonna rule out.
Did you used to work for the family? Huh.
Now nothing.
System off.
We're going to meet with Dr.
Michael Trapasso.
He is a local Professor and historian.
Hopefully, he can fill us in on some details on the Octagon House.
Andrew Jackson Caldwell was actually married twice.
His first wife was Elizabeth Akers.
Unfortunately, she died in 1851.
She bore him Mary Elizabeth.
And an infant son who died shortly after her death.
We heard that Mary Elizabeth died in the house because she was playing near the fireplace and her dress caught on fire.
That would mean that Andrew Jackson Caldwell pretty much lost his entire family within a pretty close amount of time.
Yeah, essentially, that's true.
A few years after that, he married his second wife, Harriet Morton.
And she then became the lady of the house and bore him more children as time went on.
To have an entire family that died and is not spoken about.
I couldn't imagine me and my children passing on and watching my husband remarry and start a whole nether family and feeling like I'm fading away into the distance.
You guys really dug into some really good stuff.
What I'm thinking for tonight is Jess and Jason will be in the utility room on the ground floor.
Chris will be at the monitors on the second floor.
And Brian and I will check out the hospital room, and the nursery room on the third floor.
Let's rock and roll.
So the first room we're gonna hit is the civil war treatment room.
Okay.
Well, let's try a few EVPs, huh? I gonna set up the REM Pod.
In addition to measuring electromagnetic fields, my Mel meter also has a REM Pod function on it.
It creates its own bubble of E.
M.
If anything disturbs that bubble, an alarm will sound.
The war between the states is over.
You can talk to us.
Elizabeth, are you here? Okay.
Elizabeth, are you upset over the children? Wow, that's amazing.
Elizabeth, did you die in here? Play that back.
Let's see if there's anything.
Elizabeth, are you upset over the children? Elizabeth, did you die in here? There's something there.
Yeah, it sounded like yes.
.
What I actually think I was hearing was a female voice that was responding to us.
Wow.
I think this is actually the room that Brian and Chris were in that they heard like a servant's bell.
Tons of wires up here.
2.
1, 1.
8.
Temperature just really seemed to have dropped over here.
I said it was 66 degrees in here.
We started with 60.
Yeah.
Do you want to do an EVP session? All right.
Ready? Are you the one that's scaring people here? Mary Elizabeth, are you here with us right now? Oh, my God.
What was that? Are you all right? It was like Like a tugging.
On what? Like my My My coat and my pants.
Who was I talking about at the time, Mary Elizabeth? Mary Elizabeth.
As soon as Jason said Mary Elizabeth, my pants actually got physically tugged on.
Mary Elizabeth, did you just tug on my pants? You have nothing to be afraid of.
You don't have to hide.
We looked around and tried to make contact again But it was all pretty inconclusive.
Nothing so far.
It's weird.
Let's try the nursery.
Supposedly a couple of these items belonged to A couple of the children in the family.
Did you hear that? Yeah, I heard something.
.
Yeah.
Chris, we're still in the nursery.
.
Yeah, we just heard something, too.
Why don't you come up here? We'll meet you.
- Hey, guys.
- Hey.
Hey.
This is the room right above me.
- You're set up right below this, right? - Mm-hmm.
There's not a lot in here.
This is cockeyed over here.
- That's what it sounded like.
- I did hear glass.
You got something? Wow.
Well, well, well, well.
That's what it sounded like from up here.
- You got something? - I don't know.
What the Wow.
Well, well, well, well.
Something was trying to get our attention.
We were checking, looking around everywhere, and I had picked the tag up And realized that it was Elizabeth Caldwell.
Andrew's first wife.
The portrait was actually shifted a little bit.
Is all of this just a coincidence? I don't know.
But either way, I have to share this with Billy.
- Billy, good to see you again, buddy.
- John, good to see you, too.
We had quite a bit that actually took place.
Well, we were doing an EVP session, Electronic Voice Phenomena.
I really would like to play this for you.
Great.
This is one that Brian and I had actually got upstairs.
Elizabeth, did you die in here? Yes.
- Saying yes? - That's what I'm hearing.
.
Wow.
Also, during our baseline sweep, we asked how many are with us.
And we got a response that said three.
And we know that Andrew Caldwell lost three family members.
Then we come to the situation, we're sitting in the nursery Brian and I, and we're hearing a rattle and a shake.
We looked around.
Nothing was disturbed or anything.
And I looked over, and we have the portrait of Elizabeth up there And it was hanging sideways a little bit.
And this tag was actually laying on the floor.
Hmm.
That's "Elizabeth Akers Caldwell".
"The 1st wife of Andrew Jackson Caldwell".
Now, we know Elizabeth was one of the original builders.
She helped put this together.
We know Elizabeth passed away.
We know she lost two children here.
And Andrew actually remarried.
- Right.
- And looking at the portrait up here.
We see where Harriet is actually getting recognition for building Octagon Hall.
And we know that not to be a truth.
So he remarried, had a family And Elizabeth was really the forgotten wife.
Is Elizabeth reaching out? Is it to a point that Elizabeth wants her recognition? We're never gonna know for sure, but I feel that you probably should bring the portrait of Elizabeth.
Bring it back down here, and actually place it right here.
We can definitely do that.
It surprises me that she is trying to reach out.
We didn't realize that possibly she was being ignored By us in present time.
What Aimee and Jason were able to find was documentation from the Caldwell family records.
And that's actually verifying the boy and one of the daughters Two of the deceased members of the family.
Looking at all this I feel that if you setup a place of honor for them, this might help to bring some peace to the children spirits and also Elizabeth.
Well thank you so much.
I'm ecstatic that John and his team came to the Octagon Hall.
I am so very impressed with their investigative techniques.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you Sir, for having us.
Take care of your self's.
The life and death of Elizabeth may have been forgotten over time But by bringing recognition to her in Octagon Hall I'm hoping she and her children can finally be at peace.
Knowing that they will now be remembered.
