- On this episode of Haunted Collector I hear a knock on the door.
I look in front of me and I see flames on my bed.
It's a Wiccan broom.
It's used to sweep negativity away.
- Hey, Jay.
- What did you get? Oh, wow.
We're heading to a museum.
Down in Kentucky.
This is an original Klan outfit.
Visitors see the man walk through here and then walk over towards that doorway.
What was that? Be careful where you step.
It's going crazy over here.
Is there something in there? That thing is ice cold.
My name is John Zaffis.
For over 40 years, I've been helping people with their paranormal problems.
I've found that spirits can attach themselves to objects.
- Whoa, whoa.
Here it comes.

Alright guys, I got this case that came in and I want you guys to take a look at this.
Hi, John, my name is Carol and I'm from Ansonia, Connecticut.
And I've got a situation that I really need help with.
My son's been seeing some apparitions.
He actually saw a little dark figure and it was, like, taunting him.
There have been several fires In and around the house, totally unexplained.
My Mother has seen the lips moving on a picture of my Father As if he's trying to communicate with her.
I'm at my wits end.
I need help.
Well, it definitely sounds like they could use our help down there.
Let's get the team together.

Okay guys, here we are in Ansonia, Connecticut.
And we're going to the home of Carol where she lives with her son and daughter and her Mother.
The one thing that stands out in Carol's video Are all the mentions of fires.
Now, to start a fire.
- It's got to be a lot of energy.
- Absolutely.
Have you ever actually seen that happen, where something spontaneously combusts? Yes, Jason, not that long ago, I worked on a case in Long Island And they would have spontaneous fires that did actually break out.
Defying what we understand as far as logic when these types of things occur.

Aimee and I are going to go in and meet with Carol.
Jason, why don't you look around for some witnesses.
See what you can actually find out.

What actually happened in this area here? Okay, this is the kitchen and two years ago we had a fire here.
And the fire started on the desk.
Not this particular desk, because that particular desk got totally destroyed.
My son and I were out.
My Mother was upstairs and she smelled this really intense perfume-y smell.
As soon as she opened the door, she actually saw, like, a little imp-like figure with red eyes.
Minutes later, I get a phone call.
Carol, your house is on fire.
Your Mother's going to the emergency room.
Carol, did you ever find out what started this fire here? They didn't find anything that could have started the fire at all.
There's literally nothing that was on the desk at the time.
There weren't any papers, books, cans, nothing.
And then, on top of that, we had had a power outage earlier in the day so I actually unplugged all the electrical appliances.
It was very strange the way it happened.
About a month later, I went to the back door and I see a huge fire right behind the house.
It actually scorched the house.
Carol, is there anyone that smokes in the house? None of us smoke in the whole house, including my Mom.
As a matter of fact, I won't allow any candles of any sort to be in the house.
So when I was talking to my friend, he said, well, what's happened in the past six months? And I was like, oh, well, I went and picked up my sister's things.
She had a Ouija Board.
I remember seeing it come over here with a lot of other things from her house.
It may still be in the attic.
Okay, well, that's definitely something we will look into to see if it's around.
Okay.
She had this particular broom in the shop that she was working.
She was doing Tarot card readings and things like that.
It's a Wiccan broom.
It's used actually to sweep any negativity away.
Wow, that's interesting.
Can energy attract to these and stay with them when they're used in that process of clearing? A lot of times we don't know.
But it's something I gotta take a closer look at.
This is Adam's room.
He's my son and he's scared of this room.
He's 18.
He shouldn't be wanting to be out his room.
The first time we had an incident, he was in his bed and he saw a dark figure literally right behind me.
And he said that the dark figure was staring at him.
He felt like it wanted to draw the life out of him.
Another time, we had an incident, one of the reasons why I contacted you.
My Mom left the house.
I was in my room and I hear a knock on the door.
I look in front of me and I see flames on my bed.
I get water from my kitchen to put it out and I don't what happened.
It's just really weird.
That's crazy.
After that happened, how did you feel? I was just really scared and, just really scared.
Is there anything else happening? About a month ago, he was in his bed and he saw this Incense burner.
He says that it literally just tipped over.
Fell on the ground and broke.
- It scared him.
- Okay.
I know you said that you don't allow fire in the house any more.
Why did your son buy this one? He really liked it and he promised me that he would never, ever use it.
So it's just here for decoration.
So it's just decoration, exactly.
This is my Mom's apartment.
She's been seeing the lips moving on my Father's picture.
He passed in, uh, 2007.
So I called up a friend of mine and I said, could you come over here and help me out with Mom? Can you put a video on the picture? So he came over and he did do that.
One night we're in here.
We decided to put a camera on it A video camera.
- And this is what we got.
- So that's the picture right there? That's the picture right there.
That's her late husband.
Okay.
If you look at the lips, the lips are actually moving.
Are you here, Mr.
Gagnon? That was weird.
Okay, I I can see what you're talking about.
I can see the bottom lip moving a little bit.
Yeah.
Just looking at Scott's footage, it may very well appear that the lips were moving, but I think we're gonna have to look into that during the nighttime investigation.
Well, Carol, we're gonna come in here with the team.
We're gonna investigate.
And see what we can actually find out for you with some of the things that happened.

There's a couple of interesting items here in Carol's home.
And I'm very intrigued about these fires that are happening.
I want to get into it, see what we can find out.
This is a Wiccan Broom and it shows a little bit of a reading on it.
Not too much a little bit, though.
There very well may be a Ouija Board up here so uh I can already see a bunch of games right here.
Why don't you just start poking through these? I'll start poking through this.
Carol isn't even sure that the Ouija Board is still in her house.
But, looking around in this attic, it doesn't seem like she throws much out.
I feel like we'd be up here for hours if we, like, tried to open up every single one of these boxes.
We'd literally need Jay, Jess, your Dad, all of us, opening boxes all night just to get through all of them.
Now, in here, Adam had told his Mom that the incense burner flew off the desk and fell on the floor and broke.

Jess, you smell that? Carol was telling me her Mom smelled perfume just before that big fire broke out.

Jess and I were doing our baseline sweep in Adam's room.
I started to actually smell perfume.
Well, that threw up a big red flag with me.
Why? Carol told me her Mother smelled perfume before that huge, major fire broke out in this house.
I think we better go check around the house here.

Do you smell it again? It's right here.
I I smell a little bit of a fragrance.
Yes.
But I can't make out what it is, Jess.
- What are those things right there? - You're right, this is um That's it Ah, okay, what is that? A A freshener? Um, it's a room freshener.
They soak up the oils and then release the scent.
- Ah.
- We smelled the same perfume smell that has been rumored to be smelled here before.
That scent could fill an entire house.
That air freshener could definitely be what everyone is smelling.
I don't know if the fires that took place here were paranormal.
But there's still a lot of unexplained phenomena reported here.
Is this something that's happening with Adam? I'm not sure at this point in time, but I'm hoping we're going to be able to find out.
In tonight's investigation, Chris will be on the monitors.
Jess and I will check out the basement.
And Brian and Jason will take the upstairs apartment.
All right, now, because of what Carol's Mother was experiencing - Uh-huh.
- She got one of her friends to come in here and take a video of what What she thinks is happening.
You can kind of see the pixels of his mouth moving.

I wanna see if I can't recreate the footage that Scott showed me.
- Does that look pretty good right there? - That's perfect.

This camera seems to not be having as hard a time, locking onto the picture.
And you notice my hand moved and now it's trying to auto focus? The footage that Scott showed me, they did the same move.
I think it was just the auto focus, the noise, and just the fluctuation between light and dark that was making it - Kind of appear like it was moving.
- Totally.
After examining the footage that we were provided as well as, taking some of our own, it's my conclusion that The phenomena that they think they saw uh The lips moving on the picture, was merely a trick of the eye.
Well, at least now we can go tell Carol, hey, we tried it.
It was just technology acting poorly.

So we're hearing some kind of shuffling sound or something Almost like somebody moving around above us or something falling over.
So at that point we knew it was important to go and investigate the attic.

You know, I'm not picking up anything abnormal.

What exactly did you hear because I actually didn't hear it.

The first thing that comes to mind is Squirrel, rat, maybe raccoon, something living.

If there is a rat or raccoon up here, we don't want it surprising us.

Brian radios me and tells me that they've found the Ouija Board Up in the attic.
Is it a possibility that energy could be attached to it? Yes.
Who knows what it could have been involved with.
What have you got here, guys? We were going through the boxes and Brian pulled this out.
Yeah, I don't want you touching that because if there was energy attached to it Unfortunately, we already made the mistake of touching it.
I radioed up and asked you not to touch it.
Right, but we had, we were already holding it so we dropped it.
- It was broken already.

Well, definitely I gotta take a good look at this whole situation here.
I'm gonna get together with somebody I know that knows a lot about Ouija Boards And hopefully figure out a few other things about it.
A Ouija Board is basically used as a line of communication to the spirit world.
If someone was using this board to conjure up negative energy we may have a problem.
So I am meeting with an expert on Ouija Boards.
Well, Rosemary, thanks for taking some time out to meet with me.
We're working on an investigation not that far from here.
And Brian and Jason actually had found this Ouija Board.
Look at that.
Now, I have had cases where Ouija Boards have been marked, scratched But a board broken up like this, that's very unusual.
I always feel that an item That, you know, could have some type of energy.
Or something associated with it can hold onto it.
In your experiences, what have you actually found? I've been studying Ouija Board cases for quite sometime.
And a board that is used frequently.
In a lot of situations to conjure up spirits might actually acquire a spirit attachment to it.
That might linger even after the board is no longer in use.
Now, what's peculiar about this is finding the board broken.
And if there was an entity that was somehow attached to the board.
Breaking it, even if it got broken accidentally.
Could release a lot of energy.
Would you feel that if there was spirit attached to this item.
Would it gravitate towards more an adult or more towards a child? It's going to go for the easiest target.
Now, children are much more open than adults so they can be targeted much more easily in some cases.
After meeting with Rosemary.
I think I have some really good information to share with Carol.
Well, Carol, thanks for inviting us into your home.
I know you were a little concerned about your Father's, you know, photograph with your Mom seeing his lips moving back and forth.

- So Brian and Jason.
They were able to look at it and they used a camera to check it out.
We think it's just a trick of the eye, but on a paranormal level.
There's not really too much that's happening with it.

- Okay? But then we went down into the basement, Jess and I And we were doing our EVP session.
And we were hearing tappings so, you know, we went back and listened to the tape recorder and everything and it actually had caught it.
Okay.
Did you live in this house? There it goes again.
Oh, wow.
Is it actually something paranormal? At this point in time, I don't know.
Okay.
So Brian and Jason were up here investigating And they were hearing, like, scratching noises so naturally they go up into the attic.
And they were looking around and everything and that's where they actually had found the Ouija Board.
Oh, you're kidding.
They found it.
They found it.
Oh, my God.
When they had opened up the box, it was broke.
Now, you have to remember, energy can attach to those things.
The board, it probably got broken when you were moving things around.
- Right.
- Who knows? But that energy could let loose in the house.
- Right, yeah.
- And the major target Was Adam.
Because they will gravitate toward children before adults probably causing some of the paranormal activity that he's experiencing to happen.
That makes a lot of sense.
It really does.
So at this point in time, I'd like to ask you What would you like to do with this item? - I don't want it in my house.

I I just want to make my house nice and safe.
I don't want any of this stuff happening again.

If a spirit is attached to this Ouija Board, taking it out of Carol's home should calm the activity.
As for the board, I'll seal it in glass and bind it with salt in hopes that the entity will move on.

We've been experiencing some paranormal activity here that we'd like you to come take a look at.
We hear strange conversations when there's nobody in the building.
We've even had an individual get told to leave.
We also have checkers move on their own.
People have seen, what we call, the man in the brown suit.
We'd really like to have whatever is causing this negative energy found and maybe possibly removed so our guests and the employees can have an enjoyable and calm experience.

So what'd you guys find out? The Hardin History Museum has only been open for nine years, yet it houses a ton of antiques and artifacts.
With so many items, how do you narrow it down? Well, that's what makes it difficult, Aimee.
With different items being brought in continuously, you can have energy that can intermingle and that can trigger negativity in these types of areas.

If you watch real careful, there's a ball of light comes up behind him.

It could just be a moth or a light reflection.
Where was that actually taken? It was actually around the corner on the other side of the building here.
And let me show you something else here.
Okay, this is our general store display.
It's a recreation of what a general store would have looked like from the 1800s all the way up to the early 1900s.
A lot of these are antiques.
You know, you've got old kitchen utensils.
You've got old food containers, ice tongs, you name it, it's in here.
I'd like you to take a look at this checkerboard here.
There've been a few occasions when I come in after the end of the day and there'll be two or three of them checkers been moved and nobody's been in this room.
The strangest one that happened, though, is I had left here on a Friday.
I came back in after the weekend and when I did, everyone of these checkers were stacked one on top of the other, white, red, white, red.
We didn't see anything on any of the video.
I don't know how that happened.
Do you know anything about the checkerboard? I don't know anything about it.
A spirit will mimic a lot of the things they did when, you know, they were alive so being in this type of environment, who knows? This could be actually triggering something.
It's gonna be interesting to try a couple of experiments with that when we're in here investigating.

There've been so many things have happened inside this room, people that were working here would actually see chairs just roll themselves across the floor.
We've had items that have fallen off the shelves on their own.
Our Director, Susan, has had things knocked over, and just about knocked her out.
One time down stairs, I was working and a box just fell off the shelf.
There was no one else down there with me.
No vibration.
It just went out and down.
And, you know, it really didn't tumble the articles out, either.
Hmm.
It's very uncomfortable down there.
I can't breathe.
It's It's full of things and it's kind of claustrophobic, too it's like it closes in on me.
We've also had conversations being heard inside here and there's nobody inside the room.
So we don't know if this has anything to do with it or if it could be any number of the things that are inside this room.
Well, it was, you know, probably involved with some very horrible things.
And actually, just looking at it, you could see that it was definitely worn man, there could be some really dark negative energy attached to this.
I agree.

The vibration pad measures the slightest bit of vibration on anything that it comes into contact with.
The pad itself is connected to an alarm system.
So if we're in a different part of the museum and we hear it go off, we know something is affecting whatever's on top of the pad.
In this case, the checkerboard.
Just the slightest vibration will make this go off.

So this is basically the area where Blane said they caught the footage of the orb.

This looks like it's the right angle.
So what could be causing that light.
There are a lot of reflective surfaces.
The window there, that could have been a headlight that bounced off of who knows what.
There's a dozen things over there that could've cast light in here, but the trajectory is what's really odd.

I mean, everything on the board is the same.

It's tuned a certain way.
It's not an exact science so I mean, a truck could've passed by, something big, something rumbly and, you know, really shook the room.

I have an item here and I have my ideas on what it is, but I want to be sure.
It looks like what you have here is a slave tag.
They issued these tags so they could keep track of each slave.
This particular tag would have been worn by a slave in Charleston, South Carolina, in, uh, 1806.
That's the date it was issued.
Over 5 million slaves were actually brought to the country and about 40 percent of them ended up coming through the Charleston port.
These tags had to be worn by slaves.
It was the law in several Southern states.
So once that was assigned to the individuals, they could have ended up anywhere in The United States.
Yes, they could since they were property, they could be transferred to any other state.
Okay.
This was a slave tag and we had found the tag a few feet from the KKK robe.
With these two items being in the same area, you start to think about the negative energy.

Well, when we came in and we actually did our baseline, we had set up a vibration pad where the checkers were.
And they had it go off a couple of times, but they went in and checked it and nothing was moved or anything.

But I had taken it to an expert today and what he was able to explain to me is that this tag was assigned to a particular slave.
If you stop and think about it, we've got that KKK robe right there.
We have this several feet away.
That's really a clashing Real life Here again in the spirit world, you're going to have the same type of thing occur.
