Haunted Collector (2011) s02e11 Episode Script

Enfield Horror - Masonic Spirits

- On this episode of Haunted Collector Here we are in Enfield, Connecticut.
The voice said, you all are going to die.
He shot himself and died instantly in the home.
- [Sound on baby monitor.]
- You hearing that? [Crying.]
I don't have the strength anymore.
I pack up my kids and I leave.
We're heading to an old Masonic Lodge.
I got hit in the back.
It brought tears in my eyes.
I'm shaking right now, sitting in this room with you right now.
[Voice whispers.]
- Jesslyn: Oh, my God.
- Try tricking you, man.
- Oh! [Bleep.]
No! - What the hell was that? What the [Bleep.]
? My name is John Zaffis.
For over 40 years, I've been helping people with their paranormal problems.
[Door slams.]
I found that spirits can attach themselves to objects.
- Whoa! - Oh, there it goes! - Oh, my God! - John: And make life a living hell.
That's where my team comes in.
My son Chris, my daughter Aimee.
Brian, my tech guy, Jason, my researcher.
And Jesslyn, my investigator.
My job? - What is that? - Don't touch that thing.
John: Find the haunted item and remove it.
Because I am the Haunted Collector.
[Music.]
- Hey, you wanted to see us? - Yeah.
All right, we got this case that just came in from Enfield, Connecticut, from Jay and Elke.
We are desperate.
We have been plagued by paranormal activity for five years.
And fear for our twin girls.
We have experienced shadow figures, apparitions, scratches, and worse.
A voice came over the baby monitor saying, "you're all going to die".
We need to head up there as soon as we can, because they are literally scared.
- Okay? - Yeah, let's do it.
John: All right, guys, here we are in Enfield, Connecticut.
We're gonna be meeting with Jay and Elke.
Now, they bought a very old house.
They got all kinds of things going on.
Footsteps, yelling, screaming.
The two children are experiencing a tremendous amount.
And, you know, there's a theory that children are more open to paranormal because they haven't made the connection yet between life and death.
Do you think that's possible? You have to remember, they're very pure, they're very innocent.
But, you know, the mom and dad are having experiences.
This was their dream home.
And a lot of times people say, well, why don't you just get the hell out? A lot of times, these people can't.
They have nothing left.
It's one hell of a nightmare.
Okay, Aimee and I are gonna go in and meet with Jay and Elke.
Brian, Chris, get the equipment ready.
Jason, poke around and see what other witnesses there are.
Hey, Jay.
How you doing, buddy? This is my daughter, Aimee.
Nice to meet you, Aimee, why don't you guys come on in? John, this is my wife, Elke.
- Hi.
Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
- John, I'm so glad you came.
- What's actually happening, buddy? We moved in about five years ago.
Elke was seven months pregnant.
- Okay.
- We've had shadows go by us.
We were hearing noises, footsteps.
It was just a whole bunch of activity.
And when we moved in, there was a stain that was in the shape of a person.
And we tried sanding it out, but it kept coming through.
It looked like an outline of where someone actually died and they bled out on the floor.
You can see the head shape here, the torso.
One of the things that we did find out, John, was in 1929, a gentleman bought the house.
Six months later, he shot himself.
Elke, how did you feel when you started hearing this story? I want to move out.
Jay, why didn't you actually move out? What happened was when we contacted realtors and they came in, they told us we would take a $30,000 to $40,000 loss.
And at that point, we couldn't take that kind of loss.
So, basically you were stuck in a situation where you really couldn't do anything.
Jay: I'd be out of here in two minutes if I had the means.
- This is our bedroom.
- Mm-hmm.
We've had a lot of different paranormal activity happen in here.
The kids kept pointing to the closet, talked about a man, and they were afraid of him, so Elke put a Bible up in the closet.
Mm-hmm.
One afternoon, we came home and we went to bring the kids upstairs, and the Bible was thrown out of the closet, laying like this, and all these pages were shredded.
And there was nobody home, no dogs, no nothing.
One night, Elke was upstairs here, and she was getting ready to go to bed.
And through the baby monitor, there was a loud voice, and the voice said, "you all are going to die".
I've heard that you've had certain experiences in here.
Could you tell me a little bit about that? It was during a birthday party.
I came up here by myself.
I kind of noticed something just like float by, like a dark almost like a shadow.
I would say almost about six feet high, and just kind of drifted across.
- Now, there is a window there.
- Right, but there was no bright lights.
So you do think that something's probably going on here? I do.
I absolutely do.
Some of the activity that's been in here is you get rapping sounds, growling sounds, scratching on the walls.
When I was painting the floors and trying to get it ready, I found this old object up here.
Looks like an old dough cutter.
They're not very sharp, but surprisingly enough, there have been reports that they've been used as weapons.
One day, I was fixing a draw right over here, and my daughters came down.
They were three 1/2 years old, and they walked over to here.
And they were talking to what they referred to as the man in the crawlspace.
They were actually getting closer.
I said, get away from there, and as I went to look inside there, I seen this little horn thing.
I can't even tell what that's actually made of or anything like that.
I'm not quite sure.
That might be something interesting for you to research, Aimee.
My daughter, Mackenzie, drew a picture of a man with eye sockets, like a blank nose, and they kept pointing to this picture.
And they kept saying, he's coming through the wall.
And they still talk about him.
And they keep asking me, they said, Papa, can we move out? They said, I don't like this house, we want a new house.
This house is spooky.
I kept telling her it's gonna be okay.
I'm lying to my own daughter.
I don't know if it's gonna be okay or not, and it was really hard, and, uh I'm okay.
- It's okay.
- Sorry.
It's all right.
Oh, boy.
Elke, crying: I don't have the strength anymore.
The next step is I pack up my kids and I leave.
I'm gonna do everything I can to help you.
Everything.
John: This woman's petrified to stay here in the house.
It's affecting her husband, her twin daughters.
Is there a reason why this is all happening? That's what we're gonna find out.
There's a lot down here.
We're gonna want to watch out for wires, phone lines, power boxes.
This is what your dad was talking about.
Brian: Hey, wait a minute.
I got a brief hit, but it was very high.
See? 22.
6.
Now, off this particular item, I definitely got a hit.
It was gone as soon as I got it, and that? That's not normal.
It's not this.
So I'm definitely gonna keep my eye on this, for the investigation tomorrow, and I'll probably put a camera on it.
Jesslyn: This is the girls' bedroom.
And this is kind of where they were hearing stuff coming through the baby monitors.
Jesslyn: John and I have an experiment that we want to set up in the girls' bedroom.
We want to take our own baby monitors, set them up, and see if we can't catch some other voices on our own time.
Take the monitor with us and anything that happens, we should hear.
Okay, sounds good.
Jay believes that somebody shot themselves and bled out right here.
- You gonna be my guinea pig? - All right.
Chris and I are gonna do a luminol test.
The way luminol works is a process called chemiluminescence.
The compound itself is made up of several chemicals to detect the presence of blood.
Prick your finger, get some blood, put a little drop right about here.
All right.
Brian: First we have to do a controlled test with Chris's blood to make sure the luminol is working.
Good, good, good.
That's all I need.
The hemoglobin in the blood is gonna make this do something really cool.
- Can you see it? - Yeah, you can already see it.
Why don't you hit the lights? That's pretty awesome.
If there's any blood on the floor, this is gonna pick it up, and we're gonna see this.
Pretty cool show.
How long does this stuff take to work? If it was here, the reaction would occur right away, the entire floor would be glowing.
Unfortunately, at this point, just because it's not lighting up doesn't mean it didn't happen.
It just wasn't recent enough for us to detect it.
This is something he pulled out.
It's an old dough cutter.
Not getting any readings at all off of it.
You want to try some EVPs instead? Yeah.
[Voice whispering on baby monitor.]
Hear that? [Louder whisper.]
John: What is that? That's the baby monitor in the kids' room.
[Voice whispering.]
- You hearing that? - Oh, holy cow.
Let's go down and check this out.
[Voice whispering.]
[Voice whispering on baby monitor.]
John: What is that? [Whispering.]
- You hearing that? - Whoa, holy cow.
Let's go down and check this out.
We decided to do a quick EVP session.
All of a sudden, we hear this crazy sound that comes through the baby monitor.
- Nothing.
- Weird.
John: Seems to be gone now.
Was there anybody in the girls' room? No, not that I'm aware of.
I knew that Brian and Chris were on the lower level, so I knew they couldn't have interfered with this in any way, shape, or form.
But here again, it's something I want to take a closer look at tomorrow night.
Jason and I are going to meet with Colleen.
She's a town clerk, and we're meeting her at the Connecticut State Library.
Hopefully, she can give us some information regarding the property we're investigating.
Jay told us he thought there had been death associated with this property.
- Yes.
- Can you verify that for us? I have been able to find quite a few tragic deaths in the house.
There's been falls, there have been hemorrhages, there have been a few suicides.
Someone actually had burned to death at one point in time.
In 1930, Charles Comparetto lived in the house with his family.
He was an immigrant from Italy.
He had an infatuation with the lady, Josephine, who lived down the road from him.
One day, when he was having lunch with his family, he actually had gotten up from the table, picked up a knife, and walked down the road to where Josephine and her husband were having lunch.
He actually stabbed Josephine, seven times with the Stiletto knife that he had brought down.
And sliced the throat of her husband, Angelo, and later shot him.
[Muffled scream.]
Charles Comparetto turned around, walked back to his home.
Where he shot himself and died instantly in the home.
Wow.
There's that stain in the living room on the floor.
It's almost in the shape of a body.
Aimee: We were able to confirm that there's been many deaths associated with the house.
Somebody burned, there have been falls, there have been cerebral hemorrhages.
I mean, just a lot of strange things.
John: Really? Just keeps getting creepier and creepier.
Even though this house is 200 years old, that's a lot of tragedy.
So, please, keep your guard up.
John: In tonight's investigation, Jess and Brian will take the first floor.
Chris and I will check out the bedrooms on the second floor.
And Jason will be at the monitors.
Let's rock and roll.
You getting any readings in here or no? Nada.
You want to set up the motion detector too? Yeah, I think that's a good idea.
Chris: During the baseline sweep, my dad and Jesslyn both had experiences in the little girls' room.
So, tonight, I also thought, let's put a motion sensor in there just in case we can get actual movement in there.
[Motion detector beeps.]
- Got it? - Yep.
This room here, they got a lot of activity that takes place in here, Chris.
We'll just try to do a few EVPs.
Chris: Starting the EVP session right now.
John: Could you tell me your name? Did you do something to the woman down the street? Jesslyn: All right, I'll start a sweep over here.
Yeah, I'm not getting anything from the floorboards.
I was kind of hoping that something would pop out at us that we missed last night.
Exactly why we didn't detect any blood on the floor can be any number of reasons.
We could have been spraying in the wrong area, the floor could have been sanded down.
Because of that, I figured, you know what, let's get back in the room, maybe do an EVP session.
Are you the one that's been talking to the children downstairs? Do you talk to them because they understand you? What happened here? What happened in this room? Do you believe that this house is cursed? - We should probably listen to that.
- I think so too.
[Beep.]
Are you the one that's been talking to the children downstairs? Do you believe that this house is cursed? [Whisper.]
- Sounded like a yes.
- That's what I hear, too.
.
Brian and I both believe that we heard a yes.
My question is, who is it that I am making contact with? Are you the one that is scaring Jay? Are you the one the little girls have been seeing? [Beep.]
[Beep.]
Is that the motion detector? Was that there before? John: No.
Chris: The second I get into the hallway, I see a little stuffed bear or a little stuffed moose.
But it definitely was not there when we left.
Why the moose? What the hell? What the [Bleep.]
? - John, are you there? - Hey, what's up, buddy? The horn in the basement just lit up.
What the hell? What the [Bleep.]
? - John, are you there? - Hey, what's up, buddy? The horn in the basement just lit up.
We're heading down.
Jason: The horn down in the basement actually illuminated.
It actually looked like it self-illuminated, like some kind of energy was coming off it.
I looked around, I didn't see anywhere where there would be light coming from.
So I mean I can't really explain it but it was almost as if energy was coming off of this object.
John: What did you actually see? Okay, so I have no idea why or how to explain it, but it straight up illuminated.
Really? I don't know what the hell it is, but I think I need to get it to somebody to find out.
A lot of times when these things are found by the homeowners, it can disturb things and can really kick things up.
But it can also give us answers.
John: I'm taking this horn to an antique specialist.
His name is Jamie.
He's been in the field for quite a while, working with objects from all over the world.
So I'm hoping he's gonna be able to authenticate this item for me.
Ah, this is kind of a kind of neat item.
- Probably early 1900s - Mm-hmm.
- Made of, uh made of bone.
- Mm-hmm.
This is from Italy.
A lot of Italian-Americans would wear these.
They're made to ward off evil spirits, what they call the evil eye or the Malocchio.
The older Italian culture, if you praise someone, if you look and you say, "boy you have a beautiful baby".
Or you say, "boy, I love your car.
I love what you have".
They'd get really superstitious, because they're like, boy, that person's gonna try to cast the Malocchio on me.
Because they like what I have they're jealous of what I have.
It's not always a good thing to be complimentary, and this was supposed to ward that off.
Okay.
John: We know that the double murder happened in a jealous rage.
Could the horn have belonged to one of the victims? How ironic that something intended to ward off evil could now be holding onto some serious negative energy.
I need to get together with Jay and Elke.
Well, I know you two have been searching for answers.
We have been able to discover a few things that are probably causing some of the different problems.
There have been a very unusual amount of deaths that have taken place.
There have been falls, there have been cerebral hemorrhages.
- Somebody burned.
- Wow.
Also Charles Comparetto lived here in the house with his wife.
And he had an interest in one of the neighbors, Josephine.
He stabbed Josephine seven times, he shot her husband.
And then he came back and shot himself here in the house.
As far as both of our investigations went, I'd like to show you a piece of footage that was actually captured.
This is over that little horn that is downstairs, and I just want you to watch this, and you will see it.
- Did you see that? - Yeah.
The horn is very significant with the Italian culture.
And Charles was Italian.
Whether or not Charles was actually wearing that item or took it from one of his victims, we're probably never gonna know that.
But that can be causing some of the disturbances.
What would you like to do with this? I would say remove it.
But my question is, by removing it, you think there might be any repercussions? John: With the tragedies that have occurred here, am I gonna sit here and say you're not gonna have any activity? No, but as a family unit, you need to pull together.
You have two little girls here that you need to be concerned about.
You have to stand up, and you have to fight for your home right now.
.
John: Is there gonna be a battle? Yes, but this is what you have to do.
To be able to move forward and stand your ground.
Hopefully, with that what you discovered, I hope, um, that our life is gonna be changing.
And, hopefully, it's gonna change for the better.
John: The tragedy of a suicide and a murder can leave a powerful impression, but the power of the family unit is even stronger.
With the Italian horn removed, I'm hoping Jay and Elke will no longer be terrified, to live in their home and can get back to raising their children in peace.
Hi, John, I'm Tim Sanders.
I'm The Master of Morrison Masonic Lodge, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
We have a lot of activity, that we can't seem to figure out exactly what's happening.
We hear footsteps, lots of footsteps.
Several artifacts in the lodge itself magically move on their own.
A lot of shadows that we can't explain.
We've actually had a couple of people that have actually been injured.
We don't want people being hurt, so, John, we'd really appreciate it if you would come out and investigate this so we can rest easy.
Okay, guys, here we are in Elizabethtown.
I told you guys to check into a few things.
How'd everybody make out? Well, you know, Elizabethtown was very active during The Civil War.
Between 1861 and 1865, and you have to remember, millions of men died or were seriously injured.
John: Think about this, you know.
It was horrific times.
A lot of that energy can remain in these types of locations.
I've been going back and forth talking to a gentleman by the name of Tim.
He runs the Masonic Lodge.
There seems to be a lot of activity that's happening, and they're very concerned for the welfare of the people in there.
Well, Masonic Lodges are actually private, invite-only organizations for Freemasonry.
Key factor when going in to investigate these places, guys, is always respect another person's practices and beliefs.
A lot of times, that gives you a better understanding of different paranormal activity that goes on out there.
You guys get the equipment ready.
Aimee and I are gonna go in and meet the client.
Jess, you go talk to some witnesses.
- Hi, Tim.
- Hey, John, glad to meet you.
- This is my daughter, Aimee.
- Hi, Aimee, how are you? I'm sure glad you're here.
We've had some issues, and maybe you can help us solve some of these things.
Tim, tell me a little bit about the Masonic Order.
Well, the Masonic Order is a fraternal order of brotherhood, and it dates back all the way back to the time of King Solomon.
This lodge was chartered in 1823.
And on this site, it was a children's school at one time, and a makeshift Civil War hospital.
John: Tell us exactly what's happening.
There's been several things that's happened.
There was a Civil War sentinel that was seen on the landing.
Three gentlemen were leaving the building one night, locking the door, and he stood there at the top of the landing.
Also, there's been a woman that was actually attacked in the lodge upstairs.
I was just minding my own business when my hair got tugged.
It was just weird.
I can't really explain it like, it was hard enough to where I don't know if they were trying to hurt you.
This was a feeling of your entire ponytail being tugged on.
Right.
I mean, my head even tilted back a little bit, and that's what freaked me out.
You seem still a little shaken just being in here.
Yeah, I'm shaking right now, sitting in this room with you right now.
It's like I kind of want to leave, and I don't feel comfortable.
I feel like crying.
It hit me so hard, it took me down to my knees.
That's a blood stain.
What in the hell is this? - Find something? - What's going on in here? Oh! [Bleep.]
No! You seem still a little shaken just being in here.
Yeah, I'm shaking right now, sitting in this room with you right now.
It's like I kind of want to leave, and I don't feel comfortable.
I feel like crying.
We're definitely going to try and get you some answers.
John, one of the most interesting things in this room is this bugle.
We believe it to be a Civil War bugle that belonged to a brother here, and it was donated to the lodge.
Ah.
Well, Tim, as you know, back in The Civil War, a lot of them were kids that were playing these.
They would lie about their age just so they can get in and serve their country.
[Bugle echoing.]
I'm not saying this is the source of your problems, but it is something we'll look into.
- Okay? - Thank you.
- This is the main lodge room.
- Mm-hmm.
We've heard numerous footsteps up here, walking across the floors and nobody in the building.
In about the area where we're standing in now, the secretary was met with some force.
One night, I was sitting in the office, and there was a tapping sound upstairs.
And when I went up there, the curtain was It was open.
As I was shutting it, I got hit in the back, and it hit me so hard, it took me right down to my knees.
It brought tears in my eyes.
Did the pole hit you in the back, or did The closest thing to me was a wall that was about six feet away.
And there's nothing on either side that would have done that.
It just occurred.
This is a sword which hangs over the outer door.
It's actually the Tyler's sword, and the Tyler's duties in the lodge is to keep off all eavesdroppers.
Wow, that looks like it's definitely been around for a while, Tim.
Quite a while.
But it doesn't look like it's ever been actually used so, would you say it was just ceremonial? I would think so, yes.
This is the blue room, and this was used as a makeshift hospital during The Civil War.
What has been happening in here is we hear voices, men and women.
Some lights come on sometimes when nobody's in the building.
John: I notice you have coffins in here.
They came from off the Fort Knox reservation, from what I understand.
There was a graveyard that was actually moved, and when they dug these up, they were transferred into new caskets.
What they did back then, especially during The Civil War and everything is, there was such a high rate of death, these would get recycled and reused.
Usually, once the viewing and everything was completed, they would actually be taken out, and they would be put in what we used to know as, you know, the old pine box.
Very interesting.
Well, what I'd like to do is get the team in here, and we're gonna get set up and see what we can find out for you.
I appreciate you being here.
John: These types of environments are always interesting to investigate.
The actual foundation of this building dates back to The Civil War, plus we have the Masonic temple built on top of that but, it's our job to come in and look for logical things, because a lot of times, there are.
It's not always paranormal.
Let's go, guys.
- Oh, wow.
- Wow.
- This place is big.
- I honestly had no idea, it was gonna be this big in here.
You take this side I'll take this side we'll meet up in the middle.
Okay.
There's a certain reverence upon walking in here.
There's a lot of things that so few people ever get to see.
And the fact that I'm not a Mason and I'm where they perform their ceremonies, wow, I'm just looking around, and I'm in awe.
This is a ceremonial sword.
[Meter beeps.]
And the ceremonial sword is giving me readings.
So far, this is the only thing in the room that's really given me anything.
Yeah, same here.
- There's not a body in there, right? - No, there's no body in there.
- You getting anything off it? - Not getting anything.
Let's try some EVPs back here.
Can you tell me, did you come in here, with one of these coffins? Were you in the hospital? Does this part of this building still seem very familiar to you? [Thumping.]
What was that? That sounded like somebody walking very heavy to me.
Sounded like somebody threw themselves down the stairs.
It was almost like something was being thrown or something was crashing.
It was definitely a very loud bang.
- Chris, Brian, you up there? - Brian: What's going on, guys? Jess and I, we're and we heard some really loud walking.
Brian: It's not us, dude.
We're actually pretty light-footed up here.
It sounded like it came just from right around this area here.
It sounded like something came crashing down the stairs, and there is nothing in here.
Jesslyn: That booming sound was so loud, it scared me.
But we searched the hallway and all of the rooms connected to it, and we found nothing.
But it's a place that we need to investigate further.
Jess, this room's almost like a little museum in here.
One of the items that they seem to really, be getting a lot of paranormal activity around, is the old bugle right there.
And it's actually dated back to The Civil War.
Go ahead.
Just start off around the bugle there, let's see what we got.
Do you know anything about this bugle? Can you tell us the battle in which this bugle was used? All right, let's hear what we got.
Jesslyn: Do you know anything about this bugle? Can you tell us the battle in which this bugle was used? [Voice whispers.]
- Oh, my God! - What do you got? Holy [Bleep.]
.
Can you tell us the battle in which this bugle was used? [Voice whispers.]
Holy [Bleep.]
.
John and I are conducting an EVP session, and all of the sudden, I hear something on the tape loud and clear.
John: Let me hear it.
Can you tell us the battle in which this bugle was used? [Voice whispers.]
- Morgan.
- Right.
We heard Morgan.
.
I'm not really sure what the significance of this name is, but we're gonna have to find out.
Aimee and I really want to look into the fact that the lodge was used as a hospital during The Civil War, so we're going to meet with Tim.
He's a local historian here in Elizabethtown, and he knows a lot about The Civil War.
Aimee: We're investigating the Masonic Lodge, and we were told that it was used as a makeshift hospital during The Civil War.
Yes, it was, but just in general terms.
You didn't have the medical knowledge on the level that you do today.
Doctors here would have bone saws.
They would have a medical bag, but they didn't understand what we understand of modern medicine.
If, let's say, there was a leg or an arm that was shattered, that would have to come off.
So, Tim, was there any battle in this area that stands out? In 1861, Union Army was planning a winter campaign.
So in order to stop that, they sent General Morgan and 4,000 Confederate troopers, into Kentucky to try to destroy the Union Army.
You had 150 casualties as a result of that battle.
It wasn't just the soldiers.
You know, when you're fighting in an area where you have homes and churches, you're gonna kill civilians.
[Sound of cannons firing.]
General Morgan came in with his troops, and there were a ton of casualties here, many wounded.
You did say Morgan, right? - I did say Morgan.
- Interesting.
John: If the phenomena is somehow tying in with Morgan's invasion of Elizabethtown, hopefully, we're gonna find out tonight.
John: Brian and Jess will be on the first floor.
Jason and Chris will take the second floor.
And I'll be on the monitors.
Let's dig in, guys.
All right, they're hearing footsteps in here.
Maybe we'll be able to find evidence of that, by laying down a thin layer of baby powder for this entire hallway.
The activity that's been reported here has been footsteps up and down the hallway.
So we're doing an old school experiment with baby powder.
We place the powder on the floor, block off the area, and see if there's any disturbance of the powder.
Simple, but effective.
Good.
Tape it off.
Actually, we were getting a couple readings on the baseline over by the ceremonial sword.
We should definitely do some EVP sessions.
Okay.
Is anyone up here with us? Were you a soldier here that was treated? Are you a former member of the Masonic Lodge? - Want to listen back? - Yeah.
Let's take everything out here.
I want to make sure that it's nothing behind the wall, nothing in the case.
Good thought.
It's just us and the bugle.
Were you involved in the war? If I said the name General John Hunt Morgan, does that mean anything to you? Were you wounded in battle? Anything? John and I got such a strong EVP around the bugle.
However, I don't know if we can draw any further conclusion off of it or not.
Maybe we should go check to see if any progress with our talcum powder.
That's a great idea.
Chris and Jason on the staircase on the balcony.
Were you one of the soldiers killed up here? Were you a patient here? [Liquid dripping.]
[Drip.]
Dude, do you hear any dripping? [Drip.]
There it is.
- You hear that? - Yeah.
Let's go check.
Stopping tape.
Chris and I are doing our EVP session on the stairs, and we hear what sounds almost like a clicking, or maybe even water dropping.
Is anyone in here? [Drip.]
[Drip.]
Well, it's not the faucet.
It sounds like it's coming from this side of the room.
Try checking in there.
Brian: Looks fairly untouched to me.
You seeing anything? I don't see anything at all.
- Brian: I'm content to move on.
- Let's do it.
I hate this room.
It gives me the creeps.
Brian: You get anything off that, uh, coffin? - I'm not.
- See, that's the [meter beeps.]
Hello? It's right in the middle of the room.
[Meter beeps.]
- What's going on in here? - Let's start some EVPs.
[Crash.]
Oh! [Bleep.]
No! [Meter beeping.]
- What's going on in here? - Let's start some EVPs.
[Crash.]
Oh! [Bleep.]
No! All of the sudden, this coffin lid comes crashing down to the ground when neither of us are anywhere near it.
I'm not gonna lie, it scares the hell out of me.
No way.
- You all right? - Yeah.
Not getting any reading off of it.
My guess is, if it was something supernatural, there'd be some kind of residual signature off of this.
I agree.
Brian and I checked.
There was no energy surrounding it.
We're not getting EVPs in this room.
So most likely, when I moved the chair, the vibration sent that heavy coffin lid crashing down.
- Hold this? - Yeah.
[Drip.]
Chris and I hear what sounds almost like a clicking.
As we go check it out, it sounds like it's coming from this cupboard in the floor.
Nothing? Nothing so far.
Okay, hold on.
What the hell is this? - Find something? - Yeah, hold on for a second.
- What the hell is that, man? - What is that? I mean, it's sharp.
I don't know what the hell that is.
I have no idea, man.
It just seems out of place, you know? Yeah.
Hey, dad, you there? - John: Yeah, buddy, what's up? - Come up to the third floor.
I think me and Jason found something.
Digging around in this compartment here, and we found this in the corner.
I have no idea what it is.
I'm not quite sure what the heck this is.
Looks like it's got blades in it.
What made you come up over in this area? We heard clicking sounds, like, coming from up here.
Nobody was up here.
Well, that's interesting.
Tell you what, I'll take it to somebody to see what I can find out tomorrow.
Okay, it's been a long night.
Guys, let's pack up and head out.
All right.
John: Chris and Jason pulled out this frightening looking tool out of the crawlspace in the lodge kitchen.
I have an idea it dates back to about the 1800s, so I'm taking it to a historian, Paul Withington.
If anyone can identify it, it's him.
We're doing an investigation right here at the Masonic Lodge, and we found an item in there, and I'm hoping you can give me some information on it.
Okay.
Ooh.
This is a three-bladed fleam.
A fleam was an instrument used for the letting of blood.
They would puncture a vein in your arm, and they would let you bleed around five pints.
To cure diseases.
They used it for everything from the common cold, through pneumonia, cholera, Tuberculosis.
This one has obviously been used.
You can still see where it's stained the steel right there.
That's a blood stain.
- It stays with it then.
- Absolutely.
Okay.
I would say that is from the era of The Civil War.
Most Civil War surgeons were recommended at that point that you let some blood out of your patient.
I can see where, if they were in the hands of an amateur, someone that didn't know what they were doing, they could possibly even lose their patients.
John: This item was used for blood-letting, and it could possibly be tied to someone's death.
Could this be the source of the disturbance? I can't wait to get together with Tim and share some of this information.
- Tim, good to see you again, buddy.
- Good to see you, John.
Well, on our baseline sweep, we were trying an EVP session.
We caught one that I would like you to listen to right now.
This was actually captured in the archives room.
Jesslyn: Can you tell us the battle in which this bugle was used? .
- Morgan.
- I heard it as clear as day.
I presume that Morgan was The Civil War raider, Morgan? Yes.
Being from this area, we all know Morgan to have been a Confederate raider.
So I was very surprised that name came up.
Now, Chris and Jason were up here.
They were doing EVP sessions throughout the whole area.
They had gone back up into this area here, and they actually caught I'm not quite sure if you want to call this an EVP or it's actual Activity occurring, but I really would like your opinion on this.
Jason: Were you a patient here? [Dripping.]
Do you hear something? [Dripping.]
Hear a clicking noise.
Okay, that's what we're hearing, and it's gonna lead me in to something that we discovered in our nighttime investigation.
The guys followed the clicking noise and ended up finding this item.
And what that is is a fleam that was used, years back for blood-letting.
It was a very common practice, right up to the early 1900's.
When you have a lot of that discoloration, that tells us that a lot of times that's blood that had remained on an item.
Now, knowing that this was a makeshift hospital, was this somebody that came in for help and they were, doing the bloodletting and actually had died? We're never gonna know that 100 percent, but I think this spirit it actually reaching out and does need to be freed.
Tim, I'd like to ask you, what would you like to do with this item? You know this is not an Masonic item, I would like for you to take it with you and see if this activity subsides, to the point where no one is in danger here.
Okay, Sir.
Using fleam's like this one well meaning doctors, could have actually hurt people over the years.
By removing this tool from the Masonic Lodge, I hope to lift the pain from these souls once and for all.
