Haunted Collector (2011) s03e10 Episode Script

Hollywood Haunting - Gold Rush Ghost

- On this episode Of Haunted Collector Here we are in Hollywood, California.
Orson Welles lived in the house while he was wrapping Citizen Kane.
And all of a sudden the deadbolt opened and I was scared to death.
There's some kind of sanctuary in this basement.
You need to get out of here.
We're heading to the Fallon Hotel.
He grabbed her.
He called her a bitch.
This could've been used as a weapon.
I felt fingernails go into my back and just push me.
Is someone in here with us? - What is that? - It's going down the stairs.
There's definitely something down here.
Oh! Orson Welles, are you in here? Ah! My name is John Zaffis.
For over 40 years, I've been helping people with their paranormal problems.
I found that spirits can attach themselves to objects - Whoa.
There it goes.
There it goes.
- Oh, my God.
And make life a living hell.
That's where my team comes in.
My son Chris, my daughter Aimee.
Brian my tech guy, Jason my researcher.
And Jesslyn my investigator.
- My job - What is that? Don't touch that thing.
Find the haunted item and remove it.
Because I am the Haunted Collector.
So people actually buy these haunted items? Well, it's a very popular thing today, Aimee.
Look at that one.
Sold $120.
It's a scary trend that's going on right now.
If these items are legitimately haunted, people can have a lot of paranormal activity start in their homes.
And then we end up hearing from 'em.
- Hey, guys.
- Hey, buddy, how you doing? Good.
We got a lot of submissions in, but I thought this one was of particular interest.
Hi, John, my name's Joey Liebke.
I live in a house in the Hollywood Hills in California.
Orson Welles lived in here when he was writing Citizen Kane, and there's a lot of strange things that have been happening up here.
We've heard footsteps through the middle of the night.
We've heard people coming up the stairs into the rooms.
I've been seeing kind of a shadowy figure of a It seems like it's a man in a suit, but it usually moves away and goes down towards the basement area.
If I can't figure out what's going on and solve this, I'm gonna have to sell my property, and it's not something I want to do.
It's my dream home.
Okay, Aimee, Jason, why don't you get a hold of everybody.
Let's get packed up and let's head out there.
- Cool.
- All right.
Okay, guys, here we are in Hollywood, California.
We're gonna be investigating a home in the Hollywood Hills.
Joe owns this piece of property there.
He's owned it for a while.
A lot of celebrities have lived there.
These are major stars, guys.
Sidney Toler is famous for playing the Detective Charlie Chan.
And the famous singer-songwriter Paul Williams also lived in the house.
During the '40s, Orson Welles lived in the house while he was wrapping Citizen Kane.
Well, one of the reasons Orson Welles picked that house to move into was because of its secluded nature and he figured the isolation would be beneficial.
Prominent people like that a lot of the times they're very possessive of the areas they're in and energy can linger in these types of locations.
So, we gotta really get in there and check into this place.
- Oh hey, guys.
- John Zaffis.
- Pleasure, pleasure.
- My daughter Aimee.
Hi, Aimee, how you doing? Thank you so much, come on in.
Okay.
So, I've lived here for about nine years now, and I've had some really crazy events that have happened to me personally.
I myself have seen kind of a light figure that moves around in the house.
And it looks like a silhouette of a man that may be in a suit or something.
It's usually when I'm following it, I get a cold feeling and it slows me down and I freeze up.
And it gets very uncomfortable to pursue it.
I see there's a lot of things you have here in the house.
Where have you picked up some of these things? Well, a lot of the stuff, believe it or not, I found in the basement.
It was a little bit of a playground, just to go through all the old historical things that I found down there.
Old movie posters, things like that.
One of the crazy things we have here is this blow dart gun.
Well, it definitely looks original to me.
You have to remember the intent and purpose behind those darts - Is to kill.
- Right.
So, can some negative energy remain with it? It's a good possibility.
Wow.
So, this is our game room and bar area.
The first night that we were actually here, I had two buddies of mine that were up here we set up the TV, and we were watching the movie Citizen Kane because it was Orson Welles' place.
And out of nowhere the TV started to flicker, and the TV was going on and off and then the lighting in the house went out.
And that continued for maybe five or ten minutes 'til everything went out.
The entire house had gone black.
Did you end up calling in an electrician? The next day when I got up, all the power was back on again.
This bust actually I found in the basement, and I wasn't sure who it was of.
I thought at first it was Orson Welles, but it turns out it's Sidney Toler.
When you brought that upstairs, did you find that activity increased after that? Yeah, once we put this up here, we could hear footsteps through this room up towards the stairway.
Well, that's a very personal item, if you think about it, to make a bust of an individual and then it got left behind like that.
But you bringing it up, setting it up in the house, it could cause things to actually start to happen on a paranormal level.
Wow.
Do you know of anybody else that has had paranormal experiences in this house? Paul Williams the singer-songwriter who I bought the house from, had some really crazy experiences up here.
So, you lived in this house for a while? Oh, this was home for 25 years.
Wow.
Tell me a little bit about the experiences you've had here in the house.
There was one incident involving a maid-call button.
The maid-call button was disconnected, but at least twice my wife Katie and I were in the kitchen, the maid-call button went off, and I go, that's weird.
Came into this room, there was nobody here of course.
It happened a second time, we call an electrician.
The electrician came and said, you guys are out of your mind, because there's no electricity to this button.
This has been disconnected.
And while the electrician was in the house walking out of the kitchen, it went buzz.
And he turned around and looked at it and he said You know what? This is above my level of expertise.
You're on your own.
And he left.
Wow.
So, you never felt like anything was here to harm you? This was like a creative nest for me.
In the basement, however, I would feel an energy that said like, you need to get out of here.
It just felt like there's some kind of sanctuary in this basement.
Leave things as they are.
This is the Master Bedroom.
The first night when I came up here, I started to hear steps.
I went to the door, went downstairs, and yelled to see if anybody was here.
Nobody was here.
I came back and dead bolted the door.
Then I heard what I thought were footsteps up the stairs, so I got very scared.
I reached over to the side of the bed and I grabbed the fire iron because I thought I was gonna have a confrontation with something.
Then all of a sudden the deadbolt opened.
I froze waiting and I was scared to death, and when I went to the door, it was unlocked.
To be honest, I don't feel comfortable here.
These things occur frequently enough that it makes me scared to sleep here at night.
So, I want to figure out what it is and be rid of it.
All right, Joe, were gonna get the team in here.
We'll be in here for a couple of nights investigating to see what we can find out.
- Great.
- All right thanks for having us in.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
Thank you.
It's not that often we get called into a home where famous people have lived.
But what I'm really interested in is finding out, is there really paranormal activity? Or is it just a ghost story? I'm thinking we should trap the entire area from the bedroom, down the stairs, into here, and back with R.
E.
M.
Pods and shadow detectors.
Okay.
With both the R.
E.
M.
Pods and the shadow detectors trapping the entire route of the reported activity If there is something taking this route from upstairs, down towards the basement, we'll pick it up.
Let's check out all the things in this room.
All right.
I'm not getting any readings.
So far, no.
It's been pretty steady.
I'll head in here.
- Hey, Chris, hallway's going off.
- I know, I heard that, too.
It was right, right here.
That's the stairway.
The downstairs one is going off.
See anything? Yeah, the emitter got knocked over.
How the hell did that get knocked over? There's nothing that would've knocked this over.
All right, nothing on the floor.
This is a blowgun, right? Yeah, I think so.
I'm not getting any readings off of it.
I'm not getting anything.
All right, Jess, they dug this old bust here of Sidney Toler up in the basement.
That's so bizarre.
We're not getting any readings whatsoever.
Let's try a few E.
V.
P.
s over here.
All right, can you tell us your name? Orson Welles, are you in here? Ah! What the hell's going on? Orson Welles, are you in here? Ah! What the hell? What the [Bleep.]
was that? - Got your recorder still on? - Yeah.
Let's go back over there for a little bit.
Let's listen back to that.
Let's see.
All right.
Can you tell us your name? - Do you hear footsteps? - Mm hmm.
Ah! I hear the footsteps going up to it.
That's really some amazing stuff that we just got in here.
All right, let's get the hell out of here.
I'm freaked out.
Jason and I are going to meet with Scott.
He's a Hollywood historian who knows a lot about the lives and deaths of celebrities.
So hopefully he can tell us more about the people that lived in this house and what their lives were like.
Do you know if either Orson Welles or Sidney Toler passed away in the house? No, neither of them did.
Welles died in another house on Hollywood Boulevard.
And Toler died in another house in Beverly Hills.
Okay.
We know that Orson Welles moved up to this home, to get away from the limelight.
But, was there any other reasons that you know about why he'd leave his current home and go all the way up there? Welles lived there while he was doing Citizen Kane, and Citizen Kane was a wild movie.
Because it was based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, and William Randolph Hearst ran newspapers.
When he got wind that Welles was making this movie based on him, it got very ugly and he did everything he could do to shoot the production down.
He, he was bribing people, he was libeling Welles.
He was just making up horrible stories about Orson Welles, and publishing them in his papers.
And of all the things that Hearst was doing to Orson Welles, it was while he lived in the house? Yes, when Welles was living in that house, he was going through a really difficult time professionally.
So, I can imagine the emotional turmoil, while he was trying to get this film done was quite great.
And it was while he was in that house.
Interesting.
Aimee found out that when Orson Welles did stay here for two years, this was a very stressful time in his life.
And we know that there's a connection between stress and the paranormal.
I think I wanna focus in a little bit more on that tonight.
Chris, Brian, and Jason will concentrate on the Master Bedroom.
I will main the monitors.
And Jess will investigate the basement where many of the items were found.
Okay, there are cameras set up in every location down there, Jess, so I'll be able to keep an eye on ya.
I'm gonna take a camera with me just in case.
Yeah, that's a good idea.
All right, John, I'm down here, I'm gonna start on this front side.
Because there look like there's a little bit more room.
Can you see me? Yep.
Just be careful because there's all kinds of stuff down there.
There's just random stuff everywhere.
Let's, let's spread out and see what we can record.
All right.
I'm just gonna film you guys with the thermal just in case anything does.
Okay.
Is there anybody here with us right now? Can you tell us how you died? - What the hell was that? - Check it out, check it out! - Wait, wait, wait, don't touch anything.
- Okay.
Chris check the thermal.
Do you guys see anything that fell? - No, everything's clear.
- No pictures Whoa! Whoa what? What you got, what you got? What is that? It's a cold signature? Yeah, it's like going down the stairs.
It's like a, just a trail, what what the? Follow wherever it leads.
- Is it still going? - Yeah.
Basically where Brian is standing is pretty much where it ended.
Right here is where it stops.
- Okay.
- Just on this landing.
What's down here? Is this just a closet? This leads down to the basement.
But it ended right here at the stairs.
And right there.
What the [Bleep.]
was that? Are you hearing something over in that area? I'm not sure, but it was definitely down here.
Okay yeah, because nobody's moving around up here at all.
I don't know though it almost sounded like, like a voice.
Like a growl or something.
I'm gonna try to check it out.
Okay, be careful.
Okay, there's definitely something down here.
It's freaking me out.
There's something breathing.
Okay, just try to hang loose for a little bit because I keep watching the monitors.
I'm not seeing too much happening, Jess.
I'm telling you something is breathing down here.
It's like Can you see where I'm shining my light? That's where I'm hearing it come from.
Okay yeah, I can see it on the monitor.
Just be careful of those wires, but move a little farther over there.
Check it out.
All right.
It's it's hard, it's really tight.
All right, just be careful.
- Oh my God.
- Are you okay? - What's the matter? - Ah, holy [Bleep.]
! Jess! Oh my God.
Are you okay? - What's the matter? - Ah! Jess! My meter just went out.
I just lost power.
Okay, calm down a little.
I can see you shaking.
Okay.
It came back on.
I'm okay.
I'm getting a bunch of readings off of this.
- Okay, I'm gonna send Brian down, kiddo.
- Okay.
Okay, I see ya.
Yeah.
All right.
Starting my sweep.
Well, we know the metal detector's working.
It's picking up the shovel.
Hang on a second, I've got something over here.
- Okay.
- I can't see it.
Do me a favor, bring the shovel over here.
It's your job to dig right here.
Okay.
- Wait a minute.
- Wait, look! - That is something right there.
- Careful, careful.
Okay, dig it out some more.
Oh my God.
Oh wow.
- Whoa! - Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on a second.
- Ooh.
- Wow.
Piano accompaniment.
It's music.
Let's get this up to John.
Take a look.
It's really old sheet music.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
That's interesting.
We'll have to get together with somebody tomorrow, and see what they can tell me about this.
And hopefully I can figure out how this is all tying in.
During last night's investigation, Jesslyn and Brian pulled this box out.
And there was this old sheet music that was in there.
So, I'm bringing in an antiques expert, who's also an authority on Hollywood history, here to the house.
Well, based on everything I'm seeing right now, they are the original lithographic printing.
Okay.
And these are all from 1919 to 1924.
Okay.
What's also interesting is that they're all evenly worn.
Whoever had these was not a novice pianist.
They were probably a pretty good pianist.
Okay.
What is it that you'd like to know about these? Sidney Toler and Orson Welles have lived here.
And I was just trying to figure out how some of this could be tying in.
From my understanding, Orson Welles' mother, Beatrice, was a concert pianist.
Oh, okay.
All right, that's something else I didn't know, he had a difficult childhood? Orson Welles' mother Beatrice passed away when Orson Welles was nine years old.
And around the time of her death Orson Welles just lost interest in music himself, because he was also into music.
So, you think this could be a keepsake that he had here? You have this cigar box.
Orson Welles was an avid cigar smoker.
Oh, okay.
And these are all from 1924 or predate 1924.
So that coincides with the exact year that his mother passed away.
Interesting.
If music was once a passion of Orson Welles Fueled by his mother.
And that passion was undone by his mother's death.
This could be significant.
I think I have some really good information for Joe at this point in time.
Joe, I thank you for inviting us in and I can't say I'm walking away disappointed after being in here the past two evenings.
Jason and I decided to do some research on the people that lived here.
We looked into Sidney Toler and we learned he did spend time here but he didn't pass away here in the house.
Okay.
Orson Welles, when he lived here, he was actually wrapping Citizen Kane.
He was here for two years, and that was the time when William Randolph Hearst was really going after him.
So, Orson Welles he was almost a prisoner here in this house.
It was a really tumultuous time for him.
Right now I'd like to show you a couple of pieces of evidence, that we captured with our thermal imager.
Okay.
Joe, as you can see, it will pick up cold spots and hot spots.
Right.
You can see a cold area there and as it's coming down, it's coming down the staircase, goes right down towards the bottom there Joe.
And you can see where it goes right into the hallway there.
So to me that's very phenomenal to actually be able to catch some energy.
I mean, it's good to see that there is some energy source there that can be documented, because, you know, what I see is tough to share with anyone else.
Jesslyn and Brian had gone down into the basement, and they were able to find something.
What this here is is a old cigar box, okay? And when we pulled it out and we started looking at it, we found old sheet music in there.
Wow.
Now, with Orson Welles we had found out, that when he was nine years old, he had lost his mom.
And she was a professional piano player.
Wow.
And when she had passed away, he put his real true passion, music, on the back burner.
Wow.
I don't know if it's gonna actually calm down some of that negative energy in here, but what I'm hoping if you display that in the front living room.
Right next to Orson Welles' photograph, that's gonna be given the little bit of recognition.
I think he will calm right down.
- Thank you.
- Okay.
The creative spirit can be a driving force not only in life, but also in the afterlife.
If Orson Welles, the master filmmaker Also had a passion for music.
I hope by acknowledging this his spirit can finally move on.
Hello, John, my name is Olivia and I work at the Fallon Hotel.
We have a lot of different paranormal activity going on.
We'll find a bed that was just made with the covers all pulled back.
I feel that I am the main target.
I was actually pushed down the staircase, and ended up falling down and hitting my head pretty hard.
John, I really hope you can come out and give us some answers.
I don't think I'll be able to be even brave enough to work here anymore in fear of I'm gonna end up hurt.
Okay, guys, we're heading to the Fallon Hotel.
I had you guys dig into a lot of the history, what'd youse find out? Columbia's one of America's original gold mines.
People pretty much flocked here from all around the world in 1850 to mine for gold, and the area produced $87 million in gold at 1860s prices.
- Wow.
- Crazy, huh? Columbia's the most well preserved gold rush town, in all of America and has reenactments.
It's a really rare little town.
It's kind of like we're going back in time.
Anytime you do reenactments, just like with the battlefields, people have major experiences.
One of the theories we apply to that is there's no time in the spirit realm.
It might feel like they're still there.
Hi, Olivia, John Zaffis.
- Hi, nice to meet you.
- My daughter Aimee.
Nice to meet you, thank you for coming to help us, let me take you inside.
Okay.
Here we are in the downstairs parlor of the Fallon Hotel.
It originally was founded in 1847.
A lot of different things have happened in the hotel, normally to the women.
Like footsteps or voices and they gradually just gotten worse.
When I wear my 1800s period style clothing, I, I experience a lot more, I guess you would call it, intense experiences.
I was actually pushed down the staircase.
I felt fingernails go into my back and just push me.
I ended up falling down, hitting my head, and having to go to the hospital for a concussion.
They see an imprint of somebody laying on the bed, I'll never come here alone.
Jason, the water's running in here.
- Look it.
- Oh jeez.
What the [Bleep.]
was that? We have a antique clock here.
It is actually of the same time period that the hotel was built.
It doesn't tick, it doesn't go off, nothing.
It hasn't for years.
One day I was in here alone and as I was going up the stairs, it all of a sudden went off.
Clocks play a major role with a lot of paranormal events.
A lot of times when there's a tragedy or something that happens, it will stop.
And then a lot of times on the anniversary, we'll hear that the clock started back up or it had moved.
It's a little bit strange and creepy.
This is the upper parlor room.
It connects all the different rooms together.
A lot of things will be moved around when we know, that everything is where it should be.
We'll come back not even an hour later, and it'll be displaced and there's no explanation to it.
I'm definitely not the only female that has experienced things in the hotel.
Jackie, the proprietor, has experienced things herself.
Any activity that seems odd or disturbing? Sometimes we're completely closed down and I'll come in and the water's running.
No human being is in the building, but physically the handles have turned.
Is there anything that you get from guests? A lot reports that you're hearing over and over again? I have had people say that they see an imprint of somebody laying on the bed.
Nobody was sleeping in it, but there's an imprint.
That was one of the most frightening experiences for me.
I'll never come here alone.
Here we are in room one.
This room I have the hardest time being in.
Like I'm actually shaking right now.
I've been slammed into a wall in this room to where they actually The housekeeper that was with me saw me lift off the ground and go into the wall.
I just absolutely hate being in here.
This is a gold mining town and here's a pickaxe that they would use, to kind of break up the ores and the rock that surround the gold.
Now, we know those were rough times back then and, people really had to defend themselves, especially their claims.
It could've been used as a weapon and, definitely some of that negative energy could remain with this.
Well, Olivia, we're gonna get the team in here and we're gonna see what we can figure out for ya.
- All right, thank you.
- Okay? All righty.
Olivia has a lot of claims of paranormal activity, and Olivia herself feels like she's being targeted.
So, we need to find out what is going on in here before more people get hurt.
- What's with the clock? - She's heard this clock go off.
It hasn't run in a while, but every now and then it'll go off, it'll chime.
- Are you getting anything off it, Bri? - No, no readings.
- There you go.
- Yeah, you hear it? - You started it up.
- There's a pendulum down here.
Chris, do me a favor.
Just go grab the vibration Mel.
All right, since the vibration has to enact on the clock, I'm gonna put it on the clock and then we're just gonna try to make this go off.
Okay.
- That wasn't hard.
- Go a little further from where you are.
Yeah, that's good.
That worked.
It's pretty safe to say this isn't paranormal.
This is just simple physics.
Vibrations.
- Let's try an E.
V.
P.
Session.
- Sounds good.
Can you tell us your name? How come you're pushing people around? Are you the one that's bothering Olivia? You want a playback? - Yeah, go ahead.
- Cool.
Can you tell us your name? How come your pushing people around? Are you the one that's bothering Olivia? - You hear it? - No, what did you hear? Go ahead, play it back.
Are you the one that's bothering Olivia? Okay, I heard it that time.
I don't know, dude, that sounds like John to me.
.
I don't know what that means or how that's tying in with anything.
All right, definitely get that checked out tomorrow.
We should get Aimee set up and then I'll take off and leave you two in here.
- Cool.
- All right? - Sounds good.
- Okay, let's go.
We got some interesting results so far tonight but, I feel there is still a lot to investigate here.
A lot of females are being attacked in here, so Aimee has agreed to do a little experiment.
She's gonna go in room one and see if any activity or anything occurs with her.
We got a bunch of cameras set up throughout.
If anything happens, you know, we'll communicate back and forth.
Are you sure you're comfortable with this, Aim? - Sure.
- All right, be careful.
I am in room one.
This is where Olivia experiences a lot of activity.
That's my camera there.
Doing okay up there, Aims? So far so good.
Cool, cool.
What the heck? Hey, Aims, I'm looking at room five right now and the water is on.
- Seriously? - Yeah.
- I'll go check it out.
- Cool.
Be careful.
Wait, it is on.
I think I hear it.
Oh my God! Yeah, Jason, the water's running in here.
Okay.
See if there's anyway that the faucet would've turned on.
How loose is it? Is there anyway it could've turned on by itself? Not that I can see, Jase.
What the heck was that? No! What the [Bleep.]
! What the heck was that? No! What the [Bleep.]
! Aims, I just saw what looked like a person under the covers in room one.
- Are you kidding me? - Meet me up there.
What the hell? I seriously just saw I mean, like, it looked like somebody was under the covers.
Like it rose up.
It doesn't make any sense.
I was just in here.
I know.
Maybe that's why.
Okay, I think I'm going freaking crazy.
Check under the bed.
Okay, there's absolutely nothing under here.
What the hell, man? After seeing that shape in the bed, I checked for any logical reasons why this would be happening, I couldn't find any I'm kind of baffled at this point I don't know what caused that.
I don't feel comfortable with having you in here, and your dad put me in charge, so.
- Let's call it a night.
- Let's get out of here.
- Hey, guys.
- Hey.
- How's it going? - What do you got? This is what Jason saw in room one.
Look at the bed right here.
- Damn! - Is it moving? Were you able to check and see what was underneath it, if anything? We went straight up there, pulled the covers back, nothing there.
I mean, I even looked under the bed.
Nothing there.
Wow.
Okay.
I'm gonna bring Olivia in tonight.
I want to try a couple of experiments.
I'm still trying to figure a few things out here.
We still have a lot of questions on this case.
But after seeing that overnight footage, I feel there is definitely some kind of presence here at the hotel.
I think it's important to jump right into our second night investigation.
Chris, Jess, and Jason will check out room five on the second floor.
Brian will man the monitors.
And Olivia and I will investigate room one.
Olivia, thank you for coming in tonight, and I'm glad you brought the dress in too.
Because I know you said when you wear the period dress, the activity really seems to kick up.
- Mm hmm.
- Comfortable? - Comfortable enough, I guess.
- Okay, let's head up.
So this is the room where the faucet was running? Yeah, the faucet was completely turned.
These handles are down in the off position.
So something would have to lift it up against gravity.
I mean, they are pretty loose, but going against gravity that's not in its favor.
The pipes look pretty new.
I think the only way someone would have to Yeah, something had to pull it up.
It's definitely weird but hopefully Brian will be able to keep an eye on it just in case it does happen again.
Yeah.
I think what we're gonna try and do is just put this on the bed and let's see what happens.
Okay.
I'm just gonna set up the K-II meter.
It's a little meter and the lights will fluctuate if anything comes in the room.
I'm gonna throw out a couple questions and you can throw out a couple questions, okay? Okay.
Can you tell me what your name is? Can you tell me how old you are? Are you the man that has been hurting all these women? Okay, I keep feeling like something is, like, standing right behind me.
- Right behind you? - Yeah, like standing right behind me.
Oh, okay.
Is there someone in here with us? Crazy, look at that.
Right in front of ya.
Look at that.
I feel like I have chills everywhere.
This is Jason, Jesslyn, and Chris in room five.
Can you tell us your name? Were you the one that turned on the faucet last night? Is your name John? It feels like I'm getting touched.
Where do you feel like you're being touched? Right here.
Right there? Because your hair is sticking up.
I don't know if it's just static electricity.
Right there.
Yeah.
It's doing it again.
I see your hair moving.
Is there, is there a breeze in here? It's not, it's not a breeze.
Okay, that's really weird actually because I could see your hair moving.
Are you specifically targeting me for some reason? Do I look like someone you used to know? It's saying yes.
Wow.
Are you standing right behind me? What's the matter? It felt like something just grabbed my neck.
Are you all right? Yeah, it just felt like someone just went like this.
Like you would, you would grab someone.
Do you like hurting people? Look it! Did you see the dress move? Holy [Bleep.]
! Oh jeez.
Do you like hurting people? Look it! Did you see the dress move? Holy [Bleep.]
! Oh jeez.
How are you doing, all right? I'm just really, really creeped out right now.
I think you're getting super targeted and I need to try to figure out why you.
Although I can't be sure, last night it looked to me like Olivia's dress moved on the bed.
Is there a connection with this dress? Today, I'm meeting with Marianne.
She's a local historian and an expert on the area.
I'm hoping that Marianne's gonna be able to give me enough information that will help out quite a bit with piecing this puzzle together.
I can see that this is done in the style of the period clothing from Um, the 1850s.
I can tell that it's a reproduction.
And it's fairly new Because of the sewing that's gone into it, the machine sewing.
Okay.
We also feel strongly that there's a male presence in the building.
The spirit seems to be targeting females and we got the name John on E.
V.
P.
Oh, interesting.
In the area of the Fallon Hotel a horrific incident occurred.
Columbia was a wonderful, thriving gold rush city.
John Smith, a pretty prominent miner Came in with a group of friends and they'd been drinking.
John Smith broke a decanter.
And the owner, Martha Carlos, came out.
- He called her a bitch.
- Mm hmm.
And she told him to get out, and so he grabbed her, he then slapped her.
She was probably struggling, so her husband picked up a pistol, aimed it, and it went off and killed Smith dead.
It was a very violent instant death.
Because it was a bullet straight through the brain.
Wow.
Probably the last thing he's seeing was Martha's face.
That's probably the very last thing he saw.
Because he was still in physical contact with her.
Is there a connection between Martha and Olivia, especially when she dresses up in period clothing? Is John recognizing her as Martha? I'm gonna have Aimee dig in a little deeper to see what she can find out.
Well, Olivia, thank you for inviting us in.
I think I finally have some answers for ya.
All right.
I'd like to show you a couple pieces of evidence.
What we have first is an E.
V.
P.
that we had captured.
- Okay.
- Okay? And I want you to listen to it.
Are you the one that's bothering Olivia? .
Oh my God, that is so creepy.
Can you hear what it's saying? - John.
- John.
Oh my God.
Now, the name John definitely ties in with something, and Aimee's gonna share that information with you right now.
Okay.
We learned that in Columbia there was a big tragedy that took place in 1855.
There was a young man named John Smith.
He had come into town and they had been drinking all day.
And he went into a saloon that a woman named Martha owned.
The young woman named Martha asked him to leave and he attacked her.
He was kind of roughing her up.
Her husband pulled out a gun and he shot John Smith.
The last thing that John Smith probably saw was Martha's face as he was attacking her.
Wow.
But the most bizarre part, with this whole thing, I have something else I would like to show you.
All right.
Aimee did a little digging into Martha.
And actually found what we think is a photo of her.
Holy! Olivia, you look just like Martha.
That's really, really, really creepy.
I feel John Smith when he sees you dressed up in the period costume, he could be recognizing the fact that you might be Martha.
And he's targeting you, because that was the very last person he ever seen.
It makes me nervous knowing that History is sort of repeating itself and I'm the one that's trapped in the middle.
We still have to be a little bit skeptical at all times, but the parallels are there.
My suggestion is you know you have to continue working, but I would recommend that if you do have to come back into this building, I wouldn't wear your costume in here.
Yes.
Yeah, thank you both for coming out and giving us some answers.
You got it, Sweetie.
Okay.
The passion and the emotion that we cling to in life, can sometimes stay with us even after death.
If the restless, angry spirit of John Smith is still lashing out, I hope he will now realize that he has no place in this world.
And Olivia can finally break free of his grasp.
