Haunted Live (2018) s01e03 Episode Script

Good evening, and welcome to a place so terrifying, even our own team of ghost hunters is on high alert tonight.
We are live in Castalian Springs, Tennessee, with Tennessee Wraith Chasers, who will be the first professional team of ghost hunters ever to investigate this infamous house behind me on camera.
Welcome to Cragfont House.
This is "Haunted Live.
" I'm Jamie Kaler.
And we're here tonight because unexplained activity inside this house is at an all-time high.
Investigating tonight, Chris, Doogie, Porter, Brannon, and Mike G.
They will be the first to untangle the mystery of just whoor what still lingers here, terrifying all who enter.

James McDaniel is in social comment centre and he'll share your comments with the Wraith Chasers inside.
Now, onto the mysterious building behind me In its time, Cragfont House was considered the grandest home west of the Appalachian Mountains.
But years of violence and tragedy have turned this stately showplace into a horrifying, haunted hotspot.
I've been coming to Cragfont all my life, and I have to tell you, there's definitely something menacing inside these walls and all around the property.
The Cragfont House was constructed in 1798 on a foundation of violence and tragedy.
General James Winchester and his brother George fought off a tribe of Native Americans in order to keep the land that was granted to them for their service in the Revolutionary War.
It was just a matter of time before the Natives who survived the grisly battle returned for bloody revenge.
They destroyed crops, set fires, and attacked the Winchesters before capturing and viciously scalping George Winchester.
Out of all the places that we're going to be hitting in this series, Cragfont is probably the one I'm most leery of.
It's the only place in all the years I've been doing this that I only lasted about five minutes by myself.
This place, when you walk in, there are things that you feel.
It feels like something's watching you.
The master bedroom of Cragfont is especially active.
Some days, the beds look as if people have actually been sleeping on them, even though the whole place is completely empty.
One morning, caretakers were horrified to discover dead bugs all over the floor in the room.
Could it be an ominous message from some of the spirits that were so violently torn from their land? A former caretaker had all kinds of terrifying experiences on the staircases.
There's a clock sits right up at the top of the steps here.
I was walking up the steps, and the door on the clock yanked off and bashed off my head here.
It cut me.
Now, I don't know if it's Native American spirits still angry at the Winchesters, or the Winchesters themselves still trying to protect their home, or something darker.
But the feeling inside is not pleasant.
I was coming down that set of steps, and I felt something hit me on this shoulder right here.
It was a rope, and I pulled at it like that.
And looking back up toward the steps, the other end of the rope was totally suspended, like somebody was standing there holding it, but there was nothing.
Wow.
This is going to be an intense night.
Now, Chris, I understand that this place specifically, the Cragfont Mansion, has been on your wish list to investigate for a long time.
You got that right, brother.
This place is legendary around here.
Everybody in town knows that it's haunted.
I mean, we used to get caught coming up here looking in the windows and run off by the caretaker.
Literally, he used to run us off.
I mean, this is part of the reason why we became paranormal investigators, is this place behind me right here.
You know, I was in here a few years ago.
And it was just me by myself.
It was pitch black.
I tried to go up the staircase, and I just got this overwhelming feeling that I've never gotten before or since.
And it was just this feeling of dread, like something was watching me and waiting for me at the top of those stairs.
Brother, I lasted about five minutes, and I was out.
I mean, I've been in some of the most haunted locations across the country.
This place scares me the most.
And what's odd is that normal people would never come back to this place, and yet here you are.
We're a little paranormal ourselves, I guess.
Yeah, I guess.
So, you guys are actually employing a pretty risky technique tonight to try to bring the spirits out.
Why? And talk about that a little bit.
Well, that's the plan.
Basically, what we're planning on doing is -- There's a lot of dark entities in this place, we feel.
So we want to find out who they are and what they want, so we're implementing kind of an older device that we've used in the past.
And, actually, we've had some pretty interesting results.
It's called the Devil's Toy Box.
Now, in theory, this thing is supposed to capture the energy of the spirits temporarily, if we can, and capture them long enough to communicate.
I'm nervous about it, but I want to try it.
-Let's see what happens.
-You're nervous.
I'm not even going in.
I'm nervous.
Porter, what is your objective that you guys want to accomplish tonight? Jamie, our objective tonight is to go in here and try to figure out who this dark entity is.
Is it something to do with George Winchester, or could it be a Native American spirit still here trying to reclaim this property? Well, there's a ton of history, so good luck sorting them out in there.
Yeah, it's going to be tough.
I understand that you guys like to do a little prayer beforehand.
We like to take it away, ask the Big Man to bring down his armor of light on us, so we're gonna give a prayer to him.

From the moment we arrived, it seemed like the production was cursed.
Our equipment truck crashed, most of the footage we shot mysteriously disappeared, and worst of all, the caretaker, whom we were going to interview, had an heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Now let's take you to Doogie and Porter inside the front stairwell, where a dark spirit has been known to attack people.

So, Doog, this is it.
This is the holy grail.
Oh, ooh.
Already, man.
This staircase has had purported paranormal activity associated with it, poltergeist interaction, back to even when the Satterwhites lived here.
One of the girls was going up the stairs, got hit in the face with something.
That's in her diary.
Well, the caretaker here, he was coming up here, and that thing opened up and hit him the head.
Right there.
Yeah, right there.
The clock.
So, I say we ease up this staircase.
What's going on right now -- We're getting activity right off the bat right here in the stairway.
This is picking up proximity, so you have to be -- You see how close you have to be, and we're getting hits just crazy.
Yeah, the energy's nuts, and I've already gotten right here on the Ovilus -- the phonetic generator, man -- I've already got the word "brother," as soon as we walked in here.
So let's find out.
Let's see if it's the Winchesters.
Creep up this crazy stairway, here.
Genral Lewin here? You know That's good right there.

Dude, it's strong in here.
Now, that clock, like you were talking about, when the caretaker got hit with it, it cut his head open.
Yeah.
Look at that, the door on it.
Uh-huh.
Is that you that hit the caretaker? Were you trying to tell him something? Look.
Getting a -- -You know, the Winchesters -- -One.
General Winchester, I know you struggled hard, and you fought a lot of adversity to try to take this land.
I know in your mind it was awarded to you as a Revolutionary War land grant.
I know you fought off the Native Americans that were here, and I know they fought back.
-Look.
Right as you -- -And this was their land.
Right as soon as you said Native American, something's right here in front of me, man.
Dude, I mean, I've got native blood, and this thing's already said "brother.
" I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's something else in here stronger, something native It may be.
that wants this place back.
Wow right there.
Dude, my pulse is going.
My pulse is racing right now.
Why did you -- Why do you stay on these stairs? Can you tell me that? Are you trying to protect people from coming into your home? I'm still at 0.

And General Winchester's brother -Mm-hmm.

When that happened -- He was not happy about what happened to his brother.
He was devastated.
They were so close.
You know, a lot of the misconception was just the Natives would scalp the white people, but it wasn't.
I mean, they were paying money for the Native scalps.
Dude, I'm getting that feeling in my neck, brother.
Look.
Like, it's getting blinding so I can't, like, see.
You know, back -- What was that? I heard that.
-Did you hear that? -Uh-huh.
Is that you? Are you trying to communicate with us? Listen.

Right before Porter and Doogie go up the stairway, this one comes from this back room, loops around and wraps around their legs.
Check this one out.

I mean, that one stands out to me a lot.
I mean, usually, they'll go jagged.
They'll go up and down.
This one follows a path around them, coming from this back room.

Before we even came up, these camera guys experienced the light in the nursery turning on by itself.
Went up, tried to debunk it.
It's a twisty light.
There's no way to do that.
We first get up here, we're getting actual footsteps on the stairway leading up to the nursery.
That's supposedly the most haunted room in the house.
And later on tonight, I'm going to do an isolation session in there with the Devil's Toy Box.
I got to be honest with you guys.
I don't know if you can hear it in my voice, but I'm very nervous.
This place puts me in a state of just fear.
I just -- I feel threatened here.
I don't know why.
I don't feel like this often, so When I think about it Did you know I actually have something interesting with me here? What do you got, Brannon? -Oh, that's the noose.
-Yeah, this is -- Before we address the noose, social media, we hear you, guys.
They say that you guys are saying that you're seeing mist all in here.
If you know exactly within the room, let us know where you're seeing them.
'Cause, I mean, I can feel the energy in here.
There's no doubt there's something going on in here.
These mists may be trying to interact.
But, Brannon, tell them what this is.
This is actually -- This is a noose.
It supposedly came out of nowhere and tried to mess with the former caretaker.
This noose on this stairway down here -- Let's go down here for a second, Brannon.
All right.
This noose on this stairway -- The caretaker was walking down the stairway just like this, and out of nowhere, this noose came from the ceiling, wrapped around his neck, and physically tried to hang him.
Yeah.
It's crazy, man.
Do you remeber that? What I just said.
Did you try to hang the caretaker here? -Haze.
-What? "Haze"? Haze? Well, I mean, we got mist.
People are seeing mist.
You want us to abort? You want us to leave? Another thing we got earlier, guys, was "Up.
" And that was where we were hearing all the footsteps.
And if you look up that stairway, it is long, dark, and I get the same exact feeling.
So that's going to be interesting later.
Can you tell me what this is Brannon's holding? What is this? Do you remember this? If you remember what this is and if you used it, can you take this out of my hands? Just try to grab it out of my hands and take it.
Can you do that? Why would you try to hang somebody? Obviously, you have a problem with people being in your house.
I'm not a provocative guy.
I don't like to try and make things angry.
I'm not trying to make you angry.
I just want to figure out why you're here.
Look, all I can say is, again, I'm not provocative at all.
I just ghost hunt to get information and learn more.
But why would you try to hang someone? Also, guys, we got a periscope over here by the piano.
This thing right here -- That's called a shadow detection device.
It's basically got a Mel meter.
It's going to catch anything that crosses that beam with those lasers over there.
We've also got a K-II.
This K-II picks up on EMF and the fluctuations therein.
Ghosts, in theory, give off EMF -- electromagnetic frequencies.
I got to get out of this room for a second, if that's cool.
Just, the closer I get to the stairway -- Yeah.

Now, in here, guys, if you'll notice, this is what they -- This is what was known as a cooling bench.
Basically, what they would do back in the day when somebody passed away, they would leave them on this bench to cool.
Sounds morbid, I know, but back in the day, they didn't have freezers.
They didn't have morgues.
You're out here in the middle of the country.
So, actually, I'm going to hold this for a second.
Can you tell me who it is that still inhabits this residence? Oh.
-What? -No, something's like kind of moved over here, like, a few -- like a shift.
I don't know if something's settling or There's been stuff moving in here ever since we got on this floor.
Can you move that again? Did you just move something over here? Open one of these doors.
Did you -- Are you serious? No! That freaking door just -- Did you -- -Creaked.
-I know you guys heard that.
Go ahead and open it.
Please, go ahead.

That's one of the claims here at this place -- poltergeist activity, things moving around, picture frames turning upside down.
They come up the next day, the caretakers -- they find beds being laid in.
They find different pieces of furniture in different rooms.
Not to mention just the heavy feeling in here.
Can you try to open that door again? 'Cause I just heard you try.
Did you bring that flashlight? Yeah, it's on the cooling bench.
I'll tell you what let's do.
This was the drinking room.
Just set there.
This is where they would come in here, have a cigar, have their favorite drink, maybe a brandy or something, whiskey, talk amongst men.
You know, this was, like, the original man cave.
Can you tell me what your favorite drink was? Were there any conversations had about the natives? General Winchester.
-George? -Or your brother George, are either one of you here? As the guys continue their investigation, let's see what evidence you have found.
I'm here with James McDaniel in the "Haunted Live" social command center.
James, what are people seeing? First of all, we want to send a big congratulations out to Ginger Shortt, who just got proposed to tonight during the show live.
But the story of the show tonight, Jamie, has been the nursery.
There's been insane activity everywhere, but the nursery is where people are really focusing.
Stacie Gibson said she saw blankets moving on the bed of the nursery.
Both Sherry Akins and Stormy Peak said they saw what looked like the shadow of a child hiding in a corner.
And then, Sheila Carroll says, "Black shadow on the right-hand side of the nursery.
" When we return, Chris will face the dark entity that once drove him out of this house in a risky solo investigation.
One question that I get, has there been a place that was so scary it ran you out? Well, this is that place for me.
There's not a lot that rattles my brother Chris, but I do know he's nervous about doing an investigation by himself in the most haunted room in this house.
We'll be nearby just in case something goes wrong, but I have to say, I'm really worried about what could happen.
Welcome back to the Cragfont House investigation, where Wraith Chaser Chris is about to begin what could be the most dangerous isolation session he has ever attempted.
But first, let's check in with Mike G.
in the evidence analysis area.
Man, there's something heavy up in this master bedroom.
Doogie is getting affected more than I have seen him get affected.
Well, something grabbed his arm.
He is getting a headache.
I think all of us really need to keep an eye on the Doog and give an extra fist-bump for him and just make sure something doesn't hurt him.
I mean, he's really getting affected up there.
Let me ask you -- He talked earlier about the Devil's Toy Box.
Can you talk about that a little bit? -Yeah, the Devil's Toy Box, it's basically -- it's to help enhance communication.
It's a box built with mirrors on the inside.
And, in theory, when a spirit enters the box, it sees its own image, gets confused and temporarily contained.
And, hopefully, that's enough time for Chris to communicate, find out who this is and what they want.
Right.
Now, he's doing an isolation session, which means he's totally alone.
There's not even a cameraman.
He's holding the camera in the room by himself, right? Exactly.
It's exactly how it sounds.
You are by yourself.
There's no light.
There's no extra sounds.
There's no cameraman.
Nothing.
And that's going to make him vulnerable.
And, ideally, this dark entity will view Chris as what we call paranormal bait.
Great.

Seriously, this is, uh -- this is crazy.

I don't even know where to begin.

Um So, I'm getting, like, heart palpitations, it feels like.
Like, I get these sometimes.
It's weird that it's doing it this bad.

" I mean, I kind of want to reiterate that this device is something that we've used before.

Anyway, the theory of this is -- is a mirrored cube inside this wooden box, and the theory is the spirit gets temporarily trapped in there.
They can't get out.
We want to try to see if it will communicate with us through these devices, through that candle -- What -- "Name.
" Or, no, I'm sorry, "make.
" We can't make you go in there.
We're not doing it to hurt you.
We just want to communicate.
Can you tell me what's in that room over there? Just want to make sure.

And I believe it even said "stairway" where I was asking where I was first frightened.
So, um, I'm about to open this box, guys, so get ready.

Guys, the box is open.
What did Chris do over there? Can you blow this candle out for me? Let me know you're here.
Social also said that there were voices -- there were voices that you guys were hearing up here in this room that I'm not hearing.
Is there still two of you here? But I have heard a lot of things.
George, are you still with us? Geo-- Are you still on the bed? Guys, the feeling in this room is like -- "Yes.
" It said yes.
So, George, you're here.
Almost exactly like the last time I was here, but it's just completely just fear -- just -- I'm intensely afraid of this house, and I don't know why.
I can't explain it.

I'm not saying it's bad.
I'm just saying it scares the heck out of me.

I mean, I think we got what we came for.
I mean, it's definitely been probably the most active session I've had in a while.
My opinion -- I think we're talking to George, James' brother that got scalped and killed by the natives.
I don't know for sure, but that's just the feeling that I get just because I got the name.
Well, that's the same thing down here.
We've been talking to George the whole time.
We've got it talking back and forth to us.
So I do believe we figured out who the dark entity that's angry is, and that's George.
I mean, it makes sense.
He died in a very violent way.
I don't know if his energy is somehow still trapped in this house.
But, uh, guys, what a case, man.
What an investigation.
I mean, this has really tested the boundaries of what I'm comfortable with.
So You about ready to wrap this up and break down? I think so, man.
I've got one of those massive headaches.
It's been crazy here.
I think we need to wrap it up and let the house settle and let it get back to itself.
