Heartland (CA) s13e02 Episode Script

Wild One

1 Previously on Heartland You let my horse come in contact with some incurable disease? - Amy, look at this.
- Kirk.
"Just experienced the most unprofessional treatment ever.
" If he keeps this up, he could ruin us.
Maybe he'll stop if we just ignore him.
It's like I was saying to Jen last week You were talking to Jen last week? - We just had dinner.
- What? I know what I want.
I wanna go on trips to faraway places with you.
What do you want? - I dunno.
- Well, figure it out - and let me know.
- TIM: Just so we're clear, these horses are here temporarily, right? Yeah.
Yup, yup, get up there.
- Come on! - Get up! Come on! Ho! Get up! Get up! Get up there! (HOOVES THUNDER) - You got the gate, Grandpa? - Yes, sir! - Hey! - Get in there! Yup! Ready.
Yup! (LAUGHING) (HORSES WHINNY IN THE DISTANCE) So, have you two read Kirk's latest post? - Thank you.
- Nope, and I don't plan on it.
Well, it's not all that bad.
He still blames you and Amy for everything, but he did stop short of calling you murderers.
Oh, great, maybe we should put that on a brochure.
"Bring your horse to Heartland, they're not murderers.
" Don't worry so much about what that lunatic says.
Business will pick up, you'll see.
Well, that's very optimistic of you, Jack.
(TAILGATE BANGS SHUT) I hope, for your sake, he's right.
Oh, something smells good in here.
Georgie and I made cookies.
Did you.
Since when do you bake? Never.
But Luke really knows what he's doing, so I used to make these with my mom all the time.
We should probably get going.
We don't wanna miss visiting hours.
Okay, Ty's waiting for us in the truck.
I'll be right there.
All he's been talking about all day has been seeing his mom.
That's all he's been talking about all week.
Hey, Lyndy's still not up from her nap.
Do you mind hanging out here until we get back? - Yeah, of course.
- Thanks.
You're a lifesaver.
(PHONE RINGS) Hello? Yeah, speaking.
Okay.
I'll-I'll let him know.
Thanks.
(PHONE BEEPS OFF) (SIGHS HEAVILY) BOTH: (CHUCKLING) Something's wrong, isn't it? Your mom's doctor called.
She canceled again.
She really wanted to see you, Luke - No, she doesn't! - Yes, she does! She's just not feeling well today.
- Luke, come on! - BOTH: (SIGH HEAVILY) And at the break of day You sank into Your dream You dreamer Oh, oh, oh, oh You dreamer You dreamer (BIRDS CHIRP) (CRYING) Ty: Hey, Luke? Why don't you come out so we can talk about this.
Go away! Luke, maybe you could write your mom a letter.
You know, it might make you feel better and I'm sure she would love hearing from you.
Luke? Let's just give him some space.
I'm gonna be up in the yard working on my motorcycle, Luke.
If you're interested that's where I'll be.
(HOOVES THUD LIGHTLY) You you expecting company? Nope.
Whoa (GRUNTS) Sorry to just drop in like this, but I thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Sam Langston.
Just bought Big River Ranch.
Uh, okay.
I'm Jack Bartlett and Tim Fleming.
W-what happened to Gerald? I sold him that place last year.
Well, I think he realized he was in over his head with the property.
He was pretty eager to sell, so That's a pretty nice-looking horse you have over there.
What, my horse? Yeah, yeah, he's a good one.
His name's Champ.
You weren't by any chance thinkin' of selling him, - were you? - (LAUGHS) No No, why? Well, I just bought the ranch.
I figure I need a few good horses, so Let me know if you change your mind? I won't.
But yeah, okay.
Hey, since you're the owner of Big River now, I suspect you're aware that we have a lease agreement for grazing our cattle.
- I am.
- Okay, well, would you care to join us? We can discuss that a bit.
Well, that's not necessary.
I went over the paperwork, everything seems in order.
But actually, my concern is, uh, those wild horses.
Oh, they're only here temporarily.
Right, Jack? Well, I I'm not here to complain, actually.
I'm here for a business proposition.
Daddy! (DOOR CREAKS OPEN) Hi, sleepyhead.
Oh, nice bunny! You ready to get up? Oh (PHONE RINGS) How was your sleep? Yeah.
(PHONE BEEPS ON) Lee, hey.
Wha How much more? What? Hey.
Can you hand me that spray bottle on the cart over there? That's the one.
Thank you.
(BOTTLE SPRITZES, RAPID BRUSHING) How long have you had this motorcycle? Awhile.
But I wanted one ever since I was a kid.
I dreamed of hitting the road and getting as far away from home as possible.
- You wanted to run away? - Yeah My home wasn't exactly a happy place back then.
Why not? Well, my mom used to make me promises.
She couldn't keep 'em, and I got really upset.
What kind of promises? Well, there used to be a fair that would come into town every summer and they had one of those really big roller coasters.
And always wanted to ride it, but I wasn't tall enough.
So my mom, she got a pencil and she went into my bedroom and she made a little mark on the wall, the exact height that I needed to be to ride it.
And she promised me that when I was tall enough, we would ride it together.
So, every day, I would measure myself against that mark until I was the right height.
But by that time, she couldn't really get out of bed anymore, not to mention ride a roller coaster.
So I got pretty upset.
I didn't understand why she couldn't keep her promises and I thought she didn't love me enough.
So I, uh, punched a hole right through the wall where that pencil mark was.
You should've just breathed.
Isn't that what you tell me to do when I lose my temper? (CHUCKLES) Yeah, you're right.
Right.
That's what I should've done, but I didn't know that back then.
I also didn't really understand that the reason she didn't keep her promise is because she wasn't well, she needed help, It had nothing to do with her not loving me enough.
- You see that big wrench there? - Oh, yeah.
- Can you pass that to me? - 'Kay.
(TOOLS CLATTER) - Hey - Hey.
You are so good with him.
Yeah, I-I came over earlier to tell you something but I I didn't wanna interrupt.
Well, he had a tough day.
I don't know if it made a difference, but It did.
Trust me, it did.
Thank you.
So what'd you come over to tell me? Lee called about the well for our new house.
- Mm-hmm.
- And so far they have drilled in two locations.
No water.
Okay.
So what do they wanna do now? Drill in a third location, but the more they drill (SIGHS HEAVILY) The bigger the bill.
Exactly.
What'd I tell you about that contractor of yours? This is not Lee's fault, Tim.
Well, he's the guy responsible for hiring - the sub-trades, isn't he? - Yeah.
I'm sure this isn't the first thing that's come in higher than his original quote.
We're building a house, Dad, okay? Nobody expected it was gonna be cheap.
It's just really bad timing with everything going on with Kirk right now.
Hey, I think we should tell them about Sam Langston.
Uh, no, I don't think we should.
- They need the business, Jack.
- Okay, who's Sam? He's the new owner of Big River.
- And - (SIGHS) He's interested in buying one of the wild colts and hiring you to start it.
And I told him that those horses are not for sale.
And I told him that we'd discuss it.
Because we all know that there's not enough land for that herd to grow any bigger.
And because we feed them and protect them from predators, there's no natural way to control the population, keep it in check.
Come on, honey.
Hey, Kim, Phoenix is recovering from vesicular stomatitis, so I really don't wanna push him.
Um, anyway, just, uh, call me back.
Thanks.
- (PHONE BEEPS OFF) Hey! Dad! - Hey, kiddo.
(CHUCKLES) Oh, so this is the bachelorette pad, huh? Yeah.
What're you doing here? I thought you weren't coming till tomorrow.
I caught an earlier flight so we can be at the open house first thing in the morning.
- What open house? - Mount Royal University.
Turns out they are still accepting applications.
(SIGHS) Mom put you up to this, - didn't she? - No Yes, yes, of course she did.
(LAUGHS) - I knew it.
- Listen, in her defense, you've been dragging your feet a little bit when it comes to making decisions about school, right? Your mother and I just wanna make sure you're aware of all your options, sweetheart.
I don't have a choice, do I? No.
No, you don't.
Tomorrow you will be a prospective university student and I will be your loving helicopter parent.
It's gonna be great! Got any food in here? (SPRING PEEPERS PEEP) (CHUCKLES) I can't sleep either.
Too much pico de gallo at dinner.
What's your excuse? The house.
The well.
Kirk's online posts.
Losing all my clients.
The quarantine.
Plus, dinner was a little spicy.
Well, that's a lot of stuff to carry around on your shoulders.
It's a good thing you got strong shoulders, huh.
Grandpa what Dad said earlier about re-homing some of the horses he wasn't wrong.
I know.
Starting a couple of those colts probably does make sense, but part of me feels like I'm betraying Will in some way.
Will always did what was right for the herd, even if that meant re-homing a few of them.
That's true.
Yeah, he knew the personality of every single one of those horses.
Yeah, but so do I, Grandpa.
There's nobody Will would trust with his wildies more than you.
If you wanna pick a couple and see what you can do, then I won't stand in your way.
(FLOOR CREAKS) Yeah, sounds like we're not the only ones who can't sleep.
BOTH: (CHUCKLE) - Thanks, Grandpa.
- (SIGHS) (DOOR CREAKS OPEN) What're you looking for? There's something on the roof.
It's probably just a squirrel.
Sounds a lot bigger to me.
Luke, why don't you hop back into bed.
Do I have to? No matter what I do I can't sleep.
Is this about what happened with your mom today? No, it's not that.
It's this room.
I mean, I'm-I'm really grateful and everything, but - You don't like it.
- No, I do.
It's just really dark up here at night and I'm pretty sure there's something way bigger than a squirrel on the roof.
There's no way I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight.
(SIGHS) (THUNDER RUMBLES IN THE DISTANCE) I've noticed that this colt seems curious about people.
He's a little less fearful of the human world than some of the others.
Not really what I had in mind.
That's okay.
I've got a couple of others you can choose from.
Yeah? What about him? (SIGHS) I actually didn't pick him on purpose.
Every time I go out in the field, he keeps his distance.
And I know this sounds crazy, but some wild horses are more wild than others.
But he's perfect.
He looks exactly like a horse I used to have when I was a kid.
His name was Caz.
That horse over there has a similar look.
Yeah, he's similar, but not the same.
Do you think you could try with Caz? I'm happy to pay whatever you're asking.
I don't know Look, I got a lot of friends with horses.
I'd be happy to send them your way if things work well with Caz.
What do you say? I'll do my best.
(LOW HUM OF CHATTER) - Right? - Yeah.
Okay Hey, that could be you.
(LOW HUM OF CHATTER) - It's right here.
- Thank you.
Yeah.
- Jen! - Appreciate it.
- Hey, Peter! - Hey.
- Small world, huh? - No, kidding! Uh, you're here for the tour obviously? - Of course we are.
- (LAUGHS) Uh, Wyatt's around here somewhere.
Wyatt! - Wyatt's here.
- Yup.
You two have not seen each other in a while, hey? Yeah.
Wyatt! Come over! Look who's here! Sorry.
- Hey! How're you doing? - Hey.
Oh, good, thanks.
Well, this is fun.
Yeah! I heard a rumor you were back in town.
Yeah.
So how're you? Pfff never better.
Georgie! I didn't know you were coming to this open house.
Hey! Yeah, uh, I didn't either until yesterday.
What're you doing here? I thought you were going away - for university.
- I am.
Already got into my top three schools: Carleton, Queens and Princeton.
I'm just here for moral support because Wyatt hasn't applied anywhere.
Huh.
Neither has Georgie.
(CHUCKLES, EMBARRASSED) This is great! The three of us can tour campus.
I-I mean, the five of us.
No, no, you were right the first time.
Uh, we don't need parental escorts to tour the campus, right? - Right, Mom? - Uh, Peter, what do you think? Should we give them their freedom? Oh, I think they're all young adults going off to College in the fall.
They should be able to handle a tour on their own.
You sure you don't wanna stay? Yeah, it's fine, sweetheart, I don't wanna cramp your style.
Go have fun, okay? Just keep your phone on.
- Okay.
- Bye, Mom.
- Grab a coffee or? - Sure.
Yup.
Have fun, guys.
I'm gonna sign us up for a group tour before they fill up.
This is so great.
The three amigos back together again.
Just like old times.
Yeah, yeah just like old times.
Yeah Hey.
So uh Uh Jack? - Hmm.
- Have you seen this? What is that? (LAUGHS) Did you know about it? Well, Garland Foods, they sent a photographer out a few months back, but well, they took pictures of Mitch and Tim too.
I don't know why I'm the only one in the ad.
'Cause, well, it's wonderful, that's why.
Do you know how handsome you are? (SCREEN DOOR CREAKS) - Hey.
Hey.
(PAPER RUSTLES) Hi, Tim.
I'm uh I'm making a sandwich.
Would you like a sandwich? No.
No, I'll pass.
I had breakfast.
Is-is that today's paper? - Yes.
- Uh, no, it is not today's paper.
This is yesterday's paper.
There is no today's paper.
Come on! That's silly.
He's gonna see the ad eventually.
What ad? What're you talking about? What? Garland sent a photographer to take pictures of the three of us.
- I know.
- That's just you.
- I know! - Well, why are you the only face in that ad? I have no idea.
'Cause it's a really great picture.
(CAZ GRUNTS) (WHISTLES) (HOOVES THUD HEAVILY) (LASSO WHOOSHES) (CAZ GRUNTS NERVOUSLY) (GRUNTS NERVOUSLY, HOOVES THUD HEAVILY) Come on! (CAZ GRUNTS NERVOUSLY) (LASSO WHOOSHES) You're okay (CAZ WHINNIES NERVOUSLY) Hey! Ugh! (CAZ GRUNTS NERVOUSLY) (SIGHS HEAVILY) (CHATTER) Look, uh I know that the last time we talked - things were kind of intense.
- Intense? Yeah, like I think that we probably both said some things that we regret.
I seem to remember pouring my heart out to you and then never hearing from you again.
Well, you left.
You could've called or texted.
Well, that seems kind of impersonal.
More impersonal than not talking at all? Anyway, it's probably for the best.
When I didn't hear from you, I decided that it was time to move on, so I did move on.
Oh, that's good because so did I.
Good.
Bad news.
All tour groups are full until this afternoon.
Well, I say we just take the self-guided tour.
There are no self-guided tours.
That's not a thing.
You just made that up.
Dude, there's no way that I'm standing around waiting for some college freshman to come tell me how dope the cafeteria salad bar is.
We've got a map, we'll just follow it.
Georgie, tell him we're not doing this.
Honestly, I'm all for getting this thing over with.
- Let's just go.
- Are you coming or not? Great.
Thank you.
Bye.
(PHONE BEEPS OFF) Jack, you're never gonna guess who that was.
Mm-hmm? That was somebody from PR department at Garland Foods.
Apparently, this ad is getting a big reaction and now a Calgary radio station would like to interview you.
Well, I'm playing a game of chess here.
Besides, I don't like all the fuss.
I think I'll pass on that interview.
But wait.
This could be a really good opportunity for you to educate people on ranching in this province, not to mention free advertising for Heartland beef.
So would you consider it at least? What are you, his agent now? What're uh (SIGHS) (SIGHS) (DOOR BANGS SHUT) Fred, it's Tim Fleming.
Call me back, please.
(CLEARS THROAT) There's something we need to discuss.
(PHONE BEEPS OFF) So from here, I think we should hit the faculty of science and technology - and then the Student Union - When you say "moved on," does that mean what I think it means? - What do you think it means? - Actually, it makes more sense to do the faculty of agriculture and then the Student Union buildings.
God, there's gotta be something remotely interesting to see here.
That comprehensive tour of the Nursing building you just took us on was a huge snooze-fest.
No offence.
I thought that model of the lower bowel was fascinating.
Don't you think, Georgie? So far, it's been the highlight of my day.
Mm-hmm.
(HARD TAP) I know what we're doing.
Follow me.
(CAZ GRUNTS) (AMY CLUCKS HER TONGUE) (WHISTLES) (CAZ GRUNTS) Well, it looks like you're making progress.
A little.
Hey, Sam, are you sure that you won't consider one of the other colts? He giving you trouble? No.
Every time I make some progress, I just feel like I'm breaking his spirit.
Well, isn't gentling a horse the same as breaking 'em? No, that's not how I work.
Gentling a horse should be about gaining his trust, not breaking him down.
Okay, so then get him to trust you.
(SIGHS) I'm pretty sure that Caz just wants to be left alone.
He's a wild horse.
Of course, that's what he wants.
Caz isn't like the other wild horses.
There's something about him.
Something that I can't quite put my finger on.
You're saying you have some sort of a sentimental attachment to him, is that it? What I'm saying is there's three other horses that are more suited to being gentled.
Yeah, but they're not Caz.
So we're back to where we started.
Maybe we should just forget this whole thing.
(SIGHS) No no, I'll I'll keep trying.
I'm just gonna need more time.
All right, take all the time you need.
And that number we discussed, double it.
For your trouble.
- Hey! - Hey.
Did you tell Luke that he could stay in our room? - Of course not.
- Well, he said that you did.
(SIGHS) Hey, Luke, um what're you doing with that stuff? I'll sleep better if I have a few of my things down here.
Yeah, but you know that last night was just temporary, right? I know.
I promise to move back as soon as I'm ready.
Amy, he can't stay in our room.
I know.
The whole point of us moving into the house was so that he could have his own space.
I know.
Maybe you can talk to him.
- Why me? - Because he likes you more than he likes me.
You guys have a connection.
Look how well you handled him yesterday when his mom canceled.
And besides, Ty, I really have to get out and work with that colt.
We can't afford to lose another client.
Thanks for lunch.
Yeah.
Just to be clear, when I said I moved on, I meant I've been seeing other people.
- That's what I meant too.
- Good.
- Good.
- Glad we cleared that up.
Can we focus here? Considering neither of you have made a decision about where you're going to school in the fall, I figured we might take this more seriously.
Yeah, actually, I agree with Adam.
I think that we should take it more seriously because how are we gonna make an informed decision about this when we haven't experienced everything - that it has to offer.
- Exactly.
Which is why we need to experience this climbing wall.
What? No, we don't have time for that.
Fine, suit yourself.
Meet me in the quad when I'm done.
Come on, Georgie, there's this really cool robotic arm we can check out in the science and technology building.
Actually, climbing looks pretty fun.
More fun than a robotic arm? Get that taken out and I think Oh, Fred! - Tim! Hey! - Hey.
Hey, what brings you to Calgary? Hi.
Well, I left you a message.
You never got back to me, so I figured I'd drive into the city.
- You're a busy guy, you know? - Huh.
Anyway, I'll get right to the point.
I wondered why Mitch and I were excluded from this ad.
Well, we hired a focus group to give us feedback on the images and this is the one that received the most favourable result.
W-what is it about Jack they like? Well, I think most people agreed that he had an honest, friendly face.
Oh.
And why didn't they pick Mitch? (CHUCKLES) Well, he scored high with the female members of the focus group, but he doesn't have the broad appeal of Jack.
Yeah? What about me? (SIGHS AND CHUCKLES) Well, you know, Tim, it's all very technical and I don't know the specifics.
I'd like to see the results of that focus group.
Uh, look, I-I don't think that's a good idea.
Well, Fred, you're always saying that Garland Foods is a family business, - right? - Yeah I kinda feel like Heartland's a part of the family, - wouldn't you say? - Absolutely.
Well, you don't keep secrets from family.
Okay, you win.
I will have my assistant forward you the report.
So what's the dating scene like in Switzerland? Is it mostly eating fondu and shopping for expensive watches? Hey, guys? Did I mention I'm afraid of heights? So how many dates are we talking, like one or two, - or did you really go for it? - None of your business.
Well, it's none of your business how many dates - I went on.
- Well, I didn't ask.
- Hey, guys? - Well, the answer's a lot.
Like a lot of, a lot of dates.
Like more than I can even count.
(HUFFS) Good for you.
- Ahhh! Ungh! Ungh! - Whoa, Adam, whoa.
That's it! I can't take this anymore.
Whoa, dude, what's your problem? You! You are my problem! You too, Georgie.
Me? What did I do? You both talk big game about moving on, but none of you are acting like it! I know for a fact Wyatt has been on a sum total of one date.
It lasted all of 15 minutes before he forced me to call him with a fake emergency.
Really? Is that true? Yeah, it's true.
She kept pronouncing the j in jalapeño.
Who does that? Aren't the two of you tired of all the drama? Can't the three of us just be friends? Would that be so crazy? Down! (CAZ GRUNTS) (CAZ GRUNTS NERVOUSLY) Agh! Ugh! (GATE CLANGS) Caz? Come on, Caz.
Get up! (CLUCKS HER TONGUE) (CAZ GRUNTS NERVOUSLY) Come on! Get up! Get up! (SUCKS TEETH) (CLUCKS TONGUE, CAZ WHINNIES) Ha! Ha! (WHINNIES) Come on (HEAVY THUMP, CAZ WHINNIES) (CAZ BREATHES HEAVILY) (CALMING EXHALES) (CURIOUS SNORTS) (CAZ GRUNTS) (LOW HUM OF CHATTER) - Ah, large coffee.
- Thanks.
Hey.
So I should've called you.
Instead, I completely avoided you, which I now realize made things a whole lot worse.
And I know that it's probably, probably too late for this, but for whatever it's worth, I'm sorry.
Do you think that there's maybe any way that we could get past this? Friends? - Friends.
- (CHUCKLES) - Wait, what just happened? - Um I think that we just came to our senses finally.
Listen, I'm really sorry if we made you feel like a third wheel all day.
- That was really unfair.
- Mmhmm.
That's okay.
I'm just glad the three amigos are back together.
Hasn't been the same since you left.
Looks like we're gonna be seeing a lot of each other if we both go here.
Actually, I'm not applying here.
- Why? - Well I haven't broken the news to my mom yet, but I'm taking the year off.
I'm travelling.
So that road trip you were talking about, - that's really happening.
- Mmhmm.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm leaving the day after grad.
And Adam's actually coming with me the first few weeks - before he heads off to school.
- We knew you'd be busy with horse shows all summer, otherwise we'd ask you to come with us.
I gotta head to Larsson's Dairy farm.
One of their cows is having problems calving.
Um have you had a chance to talk to Luke about his sleeping arrangements? No, you're gonna have to do that, Amy.
(SIGHS) Look, I know you said you're not good at dealing with Luke, but you're wrong.
When something's bugging him, he wants you, not me.
Even Lyndy wants you when she wakes up from a nap.
- Seriously, I am chopped liver.
- You know that's just a phase.
Yeah, but it's not Lyndy that I'm worried about.
- Talk to Luke.
- I don't know what to say.
Trust your instincts.
You're better at this than you think.
- I love you.
- I love you too.
See ya.
- (SNORTS SOFTLY) - Good boy.
- Hey.
- Hey So that was not the way I wanted you to find out about me and Jen.
Dad, it's okay.
You don't have to explain.
Mom moved on with Mitch, and you deserve to be happy too.
Thank you.
Thank you for being so mature about it.
Really.
Um, you know, and the truth is, Jen and I haven't even really defined what it is we're Dad? You know, I think this is one of those situations where less information is really more.
Yes, right, okay.
Great.
Yeah, um How did the campus tour go? Uh, it was good.
Yeah, fun.
And no, I still haven't made a decision about university yet.
But I have been thinking about summer.
Okay.
I need a break from showjumping.
I need one and Phoenix needs one.
I'm not quitting, I'm just pressing pause.
Okay.
What does your coach think about this? Well, Kim, she says she respects my decision, but she can't be my trainer anymore.
Really.
That's a little harsh.
Wow.
- Do you want me to talk to her? - No, it's okay, 'cause really, there's so much more to life than training and competing.
Okay.
Well, it sounds like you've thought about this a lot.
I have.
Can you not tell Mom just until she gets back? - I wanna tell her in person.
- Yeah, no, of course.
I won't.
I won't say a word.
You should be the one to tell her about your your summer plans and um you know, I should be the one to tell her about Jen.
- Right.
Deal.
- Deal.
(LAUGHS) - Did you brush your teeth? - Yup.
Good.
Hey, Luke, listen.
I know what it's like to be afraid when you're alone.
- What do you mean? - Well after I lost my mom, it was lonely and I had trouble sleeping.
I didn't lose my mom.
She's coming back.
I know she's coming back.
It's just sometimes when you're lonely, the dark can be scary.
I'm not afraid of the dark.
I'm not a little kid.
Well, Luke, last night, you If you don't want me to sleep in your room, just say it.
No, I'm just trying to help you.
Well, I don't need your help, so just leave me alone! (SIGHS) (REMI PANTS) (SPRING PEEPERS PEEP) (REMI'S NAILS CLIP) I miss my mom.
I know you do.
When I lived with her, we were always in the same room together.
And then when I moved into the loft, it was pretty much one big room, so So you've never had a bedroom of your own before? Hey, Luke, you you don't have to sleep up here if you don't want to.
But what do you think about Remi hanging out with you for a little while? - What do you mean? - (WHISTLES) Come here.
Come on.
You see, when I was your age, I always had a dog sleep in my room.
The cool thing about animals is they can always sense when there's danger.
So anytime I was frightened, I just looked at my dog and if she was calm, I knew that everything was okay.
So what do you say? Can she hang out with you tonight? What about Georgie? Won't she be lonely without her? I think Georgie will be okay.
And you remember that your sleeping bag is always in our room if you need it.
Good night.
Amy? I'm sorry that I got mad at you.
It's okay, Luke.
You have a good sleep.
(DOOR CREAKS SHUT, REMI PANTS) Tell my mother So hard To be alone Those days (GATE RATTLES) (CAZ GRUNTS) So hard To be alone Those days (SIGHS) (HORSES WHINNY) What do you got there? Fred sent me a focus group report on our photos.
Why would Fred send you that? 'Cause I asked him to.
Do you wanna know what it says about you? No.
Well, you'll be happy to know that you have a friendly face and were described with words like "wise", "intelligent" and "iconic".
Mitch, on the other hand, was described as "a model dressed as a cowboy.
Should be on the cover of a romance novel.
" Well (LAUGHS) - Know what it says about me? - No.
"Does not have a trustworthy face.
" That's what it said.
- Well, who cares? - I care.
You're iconic, I'm a used car salesman.
You know, at one time, I might've agreed that you're not trustworthy.
But over the years you've proved otherwise to the people who actually matter in your life.
Your family.
So forget the report, move on.
You know, I'm not buying that you're not enjoying this a little.
Look, you're referring to the fact that my picture's in the paper and total strangers describe me as wise, intelligent, iconic, not to mention drop dead handsome, then no I'm not enjoying it at all.
(AMUSED SIGH) Well, I'm not gonna lie.
I am disappointed, but I think I understand.
You do? You saw something in that horse.
Something most people can't see, including me.
And whatever Caz's future holds, it won't be hauling my sorry butt around.
Well, if you ever change your mind about one of those other colts, you know where to find me.
Yeah, I do.
I better get going.
You have yourself a good day.
Yeah, you too.
You did the right thing.
For Caz.
I don't know if it was the right thing for us.
You listening to your gut is the right thing for us.
I learned that the hard way with Kirk's horse.
Ty, I mean, how are we gonna afford the well? We're barely breaking even with all the house expenses.
All we need is some short-term cash until business picks up again, okay? So we'll just sell something.
Like what? Uh I could sell my old blue truck? No, no, we can't.
I love that truck.
There's too many good memories in there.
Okay, uh I have another idea.
Thanks.
See ya.
Are you sure about this? (ENGINE STARTS) I am, yup.
You know, I was saying to Luke the other day that when I was a kid, I used to dream about having a motorcycle so I could get as far away from my life as possible.
But I'm not running away anymore.
(CHUCKLES) Still, you must be a little sad to see it go.
(CHUCKLES) (TRUCK RUMBLES) - Yeah, maybe a little.
- (CHUCKLES) So what do you think of your mom and my dad Oh no, don't finish that sentence, please.
I had a truly awkward conversation - with my mom this morning.
- Ooh.
Yeah, I'm gonna need a lot of therapy, I think.
Let's talk about something else then.
Yes, yes, please.
So that road trip you were talking about going on - with, uh, Adam? - Mm-hmm.
What about it? Do you think you might have room for me? Seriously? What about all the horse shows and everything? I'm taking a break.
So what do you think? Yeah, I-I think uh yeah.
Yeah, this is gonna be a really fun road trip, I think.
Okay, good.
It'll be good.
Yeah.
Anywhere you're laughing And those eyes are dancing Shining right here In my heart Home is where you are Anywhere there's music Hey.
Grandpa and Lisa are gonna watch the kids tonight.
I've got a surprise for you.
I will never Be too far Home is where you are Do you remember when you built me that swing and we dreamed about what our house would be like one day? - Yeah, I remember.
- (LAUGHS) Well, that dream is coming true.
And I know it's just a foundation right now, but someday this'll be our home.
And yeah, "someday" seems pretty far away right now, especially with everything that's going on, but we'll get there, I know we will, and it'll be all worth it.
Where you are Like a Northern star Home is where you are
