Insecure (2016) s04e10 Episode Script

Lowkey Lost

Are you still wrapped up? Any loose ends dangling? You asking about Camilla? Oh, I mean, since you brought her up.
Yeah, we talked, and it's done.
Me and my ex started seeing each other again.
What's funny? I thought you was over that shit.
He seems sometime-y.
He's not.
I'm sure you gonna be fine.
Look, you and Tiffany are smart.
You plan the shit out of everything.
Man, we weren't trying to have a baby for another two years.
Are you just never gonna see him again? I mean, he's my brother.
I don't know why you would ask me to do something that would make me uncomfortable.
Well you can at least try.
I was trying to get us back to where we were, but I didn't realize it was so hard for you to be around me.
Maybe who you are now and who I am now just don't fit anymore.
What makes a flower a funeral flower versus a fun flower? I'm mainly asking for the price difference.
Fun flowers fall in different categories.
Oh, sorry.
So? It looks like I'ma be a trolley nigga.
- You got the job? - Yeah.
Oh, my God! Windy City get ready.
That's Chicago.
Uh, no, Chicago's the Chilly City, 'cause it snows.
You went to school, right? You want a congratulatory fuck or nah? - I do.
- I'm so proud of you.
This is so exciting.
Yeah, it's, um yo, they're gonna give me my own team, finally.
I get a corner office.
I even get an assistant.
Oh, well, my assistant's cousin is looking for a job.
Said he's really good at, "hittin' niggas with that heat.
" - For whatever that's worth.
- Not much.
Yo, they gave me a relocation fee.
That's great.
So yo, what's the deal? Is distance, is it a deal-breaker? No, it's not.
San Francisco is a 45-minute flight.
And, you know, if things stay good between us, who knows? Maybe I could Oh, you'd move? Yo, what about your work? Or your family, your friends? I can make new friends.
Shit, I might need to.
Honestly, I'm at a point in my life where I just wanna cut out the bullshit and surround myself with things that make me happy.
Like you.
So, if we want this to work it'll work.
Good.
'Cause I want it to work, too.
So we'll figure it out.
Have your new assistant call my assistant.
Actually, just talk to me because I haven't paid Quoia.
Black people stay not payin'.
Too short.
Too happy.
- Wait.
- What about him? - Definitely not.
- No.
There.
Yep, black turtleneck.
Doesn't blink, uses his hands when he talks.
That is definitely Taurean.
- Okay, five out of five.
- Mm-hmm.
Well, that's my bad.
I gave you too many good clues.
- You what? - Yes, I should have never said he looks like the black Elizabeth Holmes.
Mm-hmm.
Hey.
Does that happen a lot? Oh, well judging by the shoulder shimmy, I'd say she's about two mimosas in.
Hey, BJ, this is Andrew.
- Hey, Andrew, nice to meet you.
- You too.
So how you liking the firm so far? Well, it's a hell of a lot more money than I was making in the public defender's office.
- Right? - Hey, a bunch of us are gonna head over to Three Weavers after this.
- Oh, okay, cool - Oh, I'm sorry Come through if you guys can come through.
- Okay.
- Cool.
You don't wanna go? I mean, like, I'm having fun now, but I think I'm good.
What if I talk to the bartender and have him play one of your artists and then it can be like a work event for you, too? - Okay.
Hm-mm.
- Thanks, babe.
- You bomb.
- I know.
Okay.
You're buying the drinks though.
They're free.
- Hey, Iss.
- Hey.
- Is this still a good time? - Yeah, yeah.
Uh, everybody, Issa.
Issa, this is everybody.
Hey.
Okay, they're tired.
Oh, you got a lunch closet too? I had one at We Got Y'all.
- Keep an open mind.
- Mm-hmm, I'm open.
- Well, shit.
- Yeah.
I told you I had the space.
This place is perfect for my event.
Like, I really doubted you.
- Wow.
- I gotta redo my thank you letter.
I mean, you know, we got a lot of work to do in here but we gonna sell products eventually back here and, you know, maybe give out haircuts to, you know, people who are unemployed.
So, me.
Not anymore.
You out here doin' it.
Tryin'.
Look.
Um I'm sorry about what I said about your ex.
That wasn't cool.
I get that I messed up, but, you know, hearing you back with him fucked with me a little bit more than I thought.
I'm sorry.
That wasn't my intention.
No, I know.
And I I really wanna be a good friend to you.
But I'm with Lawrence - now, so if that's too much - It's not.
Uh You know, I just wanted to be honest about how I felt.
And the last thing I wanna do is make your life more complicated.
You really ate lunch in the closet? - And breakfast.
- Mm.
I named all the mops.
I know I said I wasn't gonna eat bread on the weekends, but I feel like I just drank a whole loaf's worth of beer.
- Oh, did you have a good time? - Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Looking for LaToya reunion is on.
It has been hard avoiding any spoilers but I did it.
Aw, but I'm tired.
I think I'm just gonna lay down.
Okay, well, I won't give anything away.
Uh-uh, you better not watch that without me.
Yeah.
Of course, we'll do it on your schedule.
Um, I'm sorry, what? You know if it was me who wanted to stay out longer today, it would have been a whole thing.
Okay, so, when I was working late, you didn't like that.
Now, I'm including you in my work stuff so that we can be together, and that's still a problem? No, that's not see, look.
Every time I mention something that bothers me, you just dismiss it.
But I'm supposed to bend over backwards when it's about you.
Bend over backwards? When have you ever bent over backwards? Since we met.
And the stuff with my brother.
I mean, I wanted you to come to the game and you blew that off.
Because he was rude and being disrespectful.
I I thought we worked past this.
It feels like you're still holding onto shit.
I'm holding onto Molly, you literally never let shit go.
I let shit go all the time.
What is this about? I do whatever you want, Molly.
I do the things you want.
I go to the places you want.
I share when you want.
It's getting old.
What the fuck? Yes, Kelli, what? You are the third person I've talked to.
This is unbelievable.
No, don't put me on hold.
I was just on hold for 15 minutes.
I said her name is Tiffany DuBois.
- Who's he on the phone with? - She's like five-six, blonde hair, perfect looking.
The movie theater at LA Live.
No, I don't know what she was wearing.
So, yo, Tiffany's really been gone since yesterday? I guess she called him yesterday morning to tell him she needed to get out the house.
This nigga put me on hold again.
Shit.
Last night, I dreamt of catfish.
- And you know what that means.
- No, Gloria.
Nobody knows what that means.
Mama, let's go get some water.
- I'm still on hold.
- Derek, when's the last time - you spoke to her? - She called me at 10:15.
She said she needed time and was checking into a hotel and would be back in the morning.
And then she turned her phone off.
So she's not getting any calls, any texts.
I tried emailing her.
Fuck! - Have you guys called the police? - Yeah, but they told us to wait.
I'm done waiting.
I'm gonna go down there.
I'm gonna show them her photo and see what happens.
- Ashlee! - Yeah.
- Can you watch Simone? - Yeah.
- Thank you.
- Well, I'm goin' with you.
I'm not staying with Gloria.
She told me how I'm gonna die and it's on-brand.
- I'm coming.
- Me, too.
I'm gonna go find the manager.
I'm definitely gonna talk to that security guard.
He look like he seen some shit.
- Should we - I think Maybe we should talk to someone at the concession stand.
Uh, the one upstairs or downstairs? Um why don't we just split up? And that way, we can cover more ground.
Yep, that's a good idea.
Hey, did you see this lady last night? He said she would have been a mess.
Like, really gross.
Like, disgusting.
That's not how I said it.
- Any luck? - Not me.
Sorry, no.
- Oh, my God.
- What? There's a bar here.
- How'd she look? - You know, not great.
She drank four margaritas and then left to get food.
She left right after that? I told her to take a Lyft and I saw her get in.
Wait, I think there was a Lyft charge from last night.
- Wait, what are you talkin' about? - That you knew about? Okay, Derek, I love you, but that is relevant information we could have used sooner.
All love, but what the fuck, man? It doesn't say the destination.
Damn, it's just a dollar amount.
You right, you right.
Everybody back off Derek.
Wait, the last time she went that hard on margaritas it was Week-o-Day-Mayo.
That doesn't sound like a thing.
No, it was.
Molly wanted to go to Mexico for her birthday.
She got stuck workin' three cases, and then Issa drug our asses to five different Mexican restaurants instead.
Yeah, we ended up going to a different Guisados every day.
You made me order five quesadillas for the table even though you were the table.
Yeah, so, um, maybe she might be there.
Sure, but there are five Guisados.
Which one? Wait, how much was the Lyft charge? $6.
43.
She went to the one on Spring Street.
Are you sure? Six dollars, non-surge pricing after rush hour? Yeah, I'm sure.
I does this.
Guisados is what, like, two miles away? - One-point-eight.
- Told y'all.
It's how I got that five-star rating.
Four stars.
It's in arbitration.
That sounds accurate.
All right, let's get the fuck up outta here.
Sorry, but I don't remember her.
I don't really care about this job.
I space out a lot.
It Be's like that.
Hey, is it possible to get the security camera footage? We're really not in the habit of doing that.
Well, I'm not in the habit of being sober on a Saturday but here we are, Ronald.
Here we are.
Wait, wait, stop, stop, stop.
I think that's her.
Enhance, enhance! What? This isn't Minority Report.
- Pan the camera to the right.
- It doesn't pan.
- How does it not pan? - Get you a camera that pans, man! What is Tiffany doing on a bus? - Hey, what time was this? - Just before 10:00.
If this was 10:00, then, then she's gotta be in this area 'cause she called me checking in around 10:15.
Okay, so then, there's got to be a hotel on the bus route.
Enhance! Yes, is this the front desk? Is Tiffany DuBois staying there? You can't look up DuBois? Can you please just help us out? All right, well, thank you.
They said they can't tell me anything one way or the other over the phone.
I knew she wasn't happy.
But I thought maybe time would help.
But I didn't know how to fix it.
I tried to get her to help with the baby, but she shut me out.
I just didn't think it would get this bad.
I can't believe I let this happen.
That I could have done more.
No, Derek, you have done so much to support her.
You're a good dad.
You're out here trying to find her.
You gained five pounds of sympathy weight.
Fifteen.
And you look good.
Honestly, Derek none of us are perfect.
We're all just tryin' to figure it out.
Hey, listen.
We're gonna do whatever it takes, okay? Hey.
Psst.
Okay, real talk, my inner black woman looks just like you.
Okay, real talk, my outer black woman needs you to shut the fuck up.
Shh, everyone, she's on a call.
Okay, if y'all don't Oh my, oh my God, really? - Thank you, I found her.
- What? Where is she? - You did? - The Sheraton.
Thank oh, shit, we just passed it.
We need to stop.
It's important.
I can't hear you until you get back behind that line.
- What was that now? - We need to get off.
- It's an emergency.
- Well, we have a stop in a few more blocks.
- But you're coming to a red light! - Line! - You were saying? - Just push down on the brake.
- It's a red light.
- I can only stop at designated drop-off points, ma'am.
Well, can this be one of them? This old Ossie Davis-ass nigga.
Sticks and stones, sticks and stones.
Huh.
- Don't even think about it.
- What you gonna do if I press it? Press it.
Let's go.
Up here touchin' my button.
Officer! Officer! Guys, I think that's it over there.
- Yes.
- There she is, right there, Officer.
- What? - Excuse me, Officers, this woman has been harassing this man.
- Yeah.
- Did you assault this man? - I didn't, but I can.
- You need to step back now.
- What the fuck? - Come on and tase me.
I've been tased before.
Tase me again.
I survived.
I mean, Tiff said you peed yourself.
Stop talkin' about my piss right now.
Please, Officers, look, we're just trying to find my wife.
We're not causing any trouble.
You done crossed the line crossing the line.
- Okay.
- Officers, Molly Carter.
I'm an attorney.
Question for you.
Is there a reason why you're talkin' to us and not to them? Hm, a black reason, hm? All right, all right, not me.
Mm-mm, not today.
- Mm.
- Everybody go home.
- Go home? - Now.
Fuck you, fuck you, and fuck you.
Thank you for your service.
- Tragic.
- What'd you say? I said tragic! What did you say to me? What did you fuckin' say to me? What room is it again? I don't know, they said it was 505.
502, 503, 504 You okay? I just want her to be all right, you know? That's 505.
- Who is it? - It's me.
Baby.
Open up.
Baby.
Baby, what's goin' on? I'm sorry.
I just didn't know what else to do.
I'm sorry.
It's okay.
I'm sorry.
Thank you.
How's Tiffany? You know, she's okay.
- It's a little rough right now, but - Yeah.
Sorry, I had to leave, I No, we don't have to get into it right now.
I know you had a long night.
I did, but, I mean, I think we should still talk and get it all out, 'cause if not, it'll just get worse.
Yeah.
Andrew.
Can you please talk to me? Honestly, it just seems like maybe we're not on the same page.
I know that I should have definitely gone with you to go see your brother, and that's my bad.
- I am so sorry.
- I know, yeah.
But it's not just about my brother.
I've been feeling this way for a while now.
I don't know What if we're just not a good match? No, that, that's not it.
I mean, neither one of us have gotten this far with somebody before.
I mean, that has to mean something.
I don't think it should be this hard.
So what? We put in all that time for nothing? You just wanna give up? Listen, I know, I know, look, I know that it's been hard.
But we can work at this.
I want to work at this.
I mean, whatever we gotta do.
We gotta go to therapy? I'll be more open.
I'll share more.
- I can be better, I mean - What are you fighting for right now? Forget about the time, forget about everything.
Is this what you really want, Molly? Hey.
Hey.
You all right? I got no sleep last night.
But I heard that's good for you.
It's like fasting for your eyes.
You good? Condola came over last night.
She needed to talk.
Okay, about what? I'm pregnant.
What? Yo, but I thought we were, we were careful.
Me, too.
Are you are you sure it's mine? Yes.
- But - When did this happen? It was before me and you, and before I found out about the job.
So what does this mean? Is she gonna keep it? Yes.
- I'm keeping it.
- Why? This is not a good time.
We're not even together.
- Why would you want this? - This is not ideal for me, either, but that's just not an option for me.
I wasn't ready with Mark.
But this time, I wanna keep it.
And it's not like I don't want kids.
I do.
Fuck.
Fuck.
This is - This is just - A lot.
I know, okay, and we're still processing everything.
I I just had to tell you.
So this means you're getting back with her.
No.
No! I told you I wanna be with you.
But you're havin' a baby with someone else.
But I didn't plan this, Issa.
I don't I don't want this to happen.
I know.
And I'm not expecting anything from you.
I don't want you to feel trapped.
You can be as involved as you want.
Either way I'm good.
I'm sorry.
This is too much.
I thought shit was finally Fuck.
Hey.
Hey.
I'm glad you came.
I'm glad you called.
Welcome to the final episode of this season's Wine Down.
Today we're joined by the incredible Amanda Seales who plays Tiffany.
She'll be helping us break down tonight's episode of 'Lowkey Lost'.
A huge part of the episode is dealing with the need to find Tiffany.
Why do you guys feel it was important for us to sort of tackle Tiffany's storyline revolving around umm postpartum depression.
We wanted to depict this because, you know, it's commonplace, and we wanted to show this this struggle.
And this felt like this was a natural opportunity to showcase this.
Tiffany is the only mother, the only married one out of our group of friends and she already started to feel isolated in a way so unfortunately this just added to her burden.
I think Tiff had also kind of like solidified herself as like the strong woman, like, even though she alludes to like things with Derek, it's never like being put in her girls' laps.
And so I think that also just reflects the realities of like, you know how to have a strong mind, but not necessarily - a healthy mind.
- Right.
Umm, so we know how to muscle through and like that's not gonna break me and that's not gonna hurt me, but it's like, okay, but are you really dealing with it? - Right.
- Or are you just like, suppressing sadness? - That's that character right.
- She set this - She set this yes.
- She set this grid up.
- Like, my hair is gonna be together, - Yes yes my nai I even made like conscious decisions over the course of the season, like, like my nails to be less done.
So that by the end, like, she doesn't even have a manicure which for Tiffany, that's like, you've never seen Tiffany without 'this' happening.
But like, I think a lot of women can relate to like, something that minor can actually be very indicative - of like them falling apart, right.
- Yeah yeah.
Because a lot of times it'll be those little things - Yeah.
- you just know are like, - oh she's together.
- And I think that was another factor too, because yes, Tiffany is going through this thing.
But we also wanted it to serve as a metaphor for her actual friends missing out.
Like her actual friends aren't noticing - that she's falling apart - Right okay.
and that is also indicative of the friendship that they have with each other.
They're not seeing one another umm.
- Who was in it though? Derek.
- Derek.
Derek, that's - Derek was in it.
- Derek was down.
Derek was down.
- He was in it.
- This was great, I think at the door when you guys have that moment together where you've never let Derek see the other side of there, right.
And I think even not wait to ash the door.
Right, how do I face this man who I typically am together for.
I don't want him to see me like this cuz what does that mean, you know.
How will he see me now going forward? It still gives me chills thinking about it.
Cuz it was so real about a husband and wife who do need to see each other.
But it's it's scary.
You know why else it gives you chills? Cuz I was actin' baby.
"Acting".
Umm you know, one of the things we discussed in the room was from a very early standpoint, was wanting to tackle this topic for Tiffany this year.
So I'd love to talk about how postpartum depression is rarely really portrayed accurately on TV.
- Especially with black women.
- When it is portrayed, it's It's wild.
I can't take this baby.
You know, it's being acted to the back of the room.
And not to the cameras so.
We talked about a lot in the room.
I mean, I remember to a point that we were talking debating like, what's the most real version of what she'll be wearing, how you'd find her, what she'd do, how she'd eat, I mean we got very meticulous about this because we wanted - it to feel very real.
- Yeah, you talked about your nails what else did you do to prepare for Tiffany's postpartum? I mean, I think the hardest thing was gonna be just figuring out an authentic place that's happened to, that could get me to the same feeling of emptiness and confusion that you'd be at if this was, you know, your actual reality.
Speaking of pregnancies, there's a big drop at the end of this episode of Lawrence getting Condola pregnant.
How do you think Issa feels about that and she and Lawrence's relationship possibly moving forward? This taints him in a very real way.
- I'd say that - Does it? To me, if I'm interested in a man and he has a child with someone else, I think it robs you of that moment.
- Hmm.
- And that's my mind.
I feel like they've lost a milestone.
In the season two finale - Yeah.
.
yeah, you're right.
- like when she pictured getting back with Lawrence, having a baby together is the first thing.
- So now - She ain't got the firstborn.
She doesn't have the firstborn.
Sharing that moment with someone else.
Someone who he's not with.
And they'd just recommitted.
So there's things to discuss, like how active he wants to be in this child's life.
If he's not active then he's kinda not shit.
- Right.
- So what he has to be as.
So you're like an antsy girlfriend.
If can Issa and Condola be friends, you mean? - Cuz she came around.
- You were already friends.
- Not after that.
- But they made back up.
Guess don't be lit.
Thank you so much for joining us for the Wine Down this season.
We really hope you enjoyed watching this season as much as we loved making it.
- Cheers.
- Cheers as always, y'all.
- Things are frizzy.
- Watch it on HBO.
