The Law of the Port

1
[unsettling music playing]
The Port of Barcelona receives
70 million tons of goods every year.
Only 2% of the 6,000 containers
received per day are inspected.
10,000 kilograms of cocaine
were seized in 2023,
hidden in containers
arriving from all over the world.
That figure is estimated to account
for less than 10% of drugs
entering through the port.
This makes Barcelona
one of the main European gateways
for the lucrative business
of drug trafficking.
[waves crashing]
THE PORT OF BARCELONA
[thunder crackles]
[indistinct chatter]
[sniffles]
[tense string music playing]
[indistinct chatter]
[sniffles]
[sighs deeply]
[sniffles]
- [inhales sharply]
- [zips jacket]
[thunder crashing]
[horn blares]
[horn honks]
- Navarro!
- Hey, Flaco.
[Flaco] What's up?
Getting off later than usual.
What?
[Flaco] You're getting off
later than usual.
Yeah. We had to unload one
that came in really late,
so we busted ass to get it done.
So you're not gonna have a drink
with the boys?
[Navarro] Not tonight.
There's just a lot going on at the house.
Our daughter's boyfriend's coming over.
Sure. Come over here.
- Why, what's up?
- Nothing. I just wanna talk to you.
Come here.
[indistinct radio chatter]
Hey. What the hell is going on over there?
[car door opens]
Nothin'.
Dockworker things.
- What?
- [Flaco] Get in the car. Come on.
- But why?
- 'Cause I say so, Navarro.
- [Navarro] I told you
- I have to make you?
Hold on, Flaco. I swear to you
I just fuckin' told you to get in the car.
Shit, Flaco, listen.
Just between me and you.
[man 1] Come on.
Get in. We won't hurt you.
[grunts]
[Navarro] Flaco, please think about it.
- [man 2] Get in.
- [Navarro] Let me go.
You're hurting me! Hey, hey!
Stay out of it.
[man 3] Come on.
- Get in, Navarro.
- [Navarro] Watch out, dammit.
- Please.
- [man 2] Let's go.
[Navarro panting]
[somber music playing]
[thunder rumbles]
[engine stops]
- [blows landing]
- [Navarro groaning]
[man 1] Hit him. Hit him. Come on.
Yeah, you're right.
This bastard was playing us.
[blows continue landing]
[man 2] Stealing from the Manchados
is gonna cost you.
[boss] Enough. Stop.
[Navarro breathing shakily]
Joaquín, forgive me, for God's sake.
Please forgive me. I beg you.
I already know what I have done
and what I haven't done.
But I swear to you on my life,
it'll never happen again.
[Joaquín] Of course not. Of course not.
[crying] I'm sorry, Joaquín.
Please, I'm begging you.
For my father.
[Joaquín] Your father's why I'm here.
Out of respect for your father.
That's why I'm here.
[Navarro whimpers]
Your father was somebody decent.
Sadly, you turned out nothing like him.
[thunder rumbles in distance]
[man 1] Open up.
Come on! Open your fucking mouth.
- Come on.
- [rat squeaks]
No! [choking]
[man 2] Swallow!
Drink, you son of a bitch!
[Navarro moaning and gasping]
[man 3] I said don't move!
[man 1] Now you'll learn, motherfucker!
[man 2] Come on.
[man 1] Open your fuckin' mouth
and stay still.
[gasping for air]
[thunder rumbles]
In 40 years, a lot has changed
at the port, but one thing never will.
The rats.
There were rats since before I got here.
There are rats now,
and there will still be rats here
when I'm gone.
That's why they've got to be kept at bay.
- Because they're a source of disease.
- [rat squeaks]
And greed's the worst of them.
There's no cure once you get it.
[thunder rumbles]
[Joaquín] If you do nothing,
you turn around,
and it's spread all over the port.
When you decide
When you decide to kill a rat,
you're telling the rest of the rats,
"Be careful. This is not paradise.
Be careful."
"You're not going to sink
your little teeth
into our children's food."
"There are rules."
[tense music playing]
But you already knew that.
You knew because your father told you.
And your father
was told by your grandfather.
Look at me.
[Navarro breathing shakily]
You already knew.
So, in your case, there's no forgiveness.
[tense music fades]
[suspenseful theme music playing]
[theme music fades]
IRON REIGN
CHAPTER 1 - THE LAW OF THE POR
[ship horn blares]
- [alert beeping]
- [machinery whirring]
- [man 1] Hey! Careful with that!
- [man 2 whistles]
[horn honks]
[gulls calling]
[somber music playing]
[car alarm chirps]
[indistinct chatter]
[somber music fades]
- [Joaquín] Morning.
- Good morning, sir. Your usual?
[Joaquín] Yeah. Just a black coffee.
Thank you.
[grunts]
[espresso machine whirring]
[door opens]
Manuel. Hey.
How's work going?
Few fish and lots of plastic out there.
[chuckles] Well,
things have changed, right?
Yes, it was never easy. Take this.
- No, no. Please.
- [Manuel] Yes. This is for you.
I'm all done fishin'.
[sighs] Damn.
I'm grateful for the opportunity
you gave my grandson.
Today for you, tomorrow for me.
- [Manuel] Mm.
- If it goes well for you, it will for me.
[Manuel] Thank you so much, sir.
- Thank you.
- [Joaquín] Thank you.
Listen, prepare these sardines to eat.
Pack 'em up for me?
Hey, hon. Take this.
Put it on the grill for him. Hurry up.
[sardines sizzling]
[machinery whirring]
[Joaquín] No. No, don't do anything.
No. I'll be there later.
Okay? Tell him he owes us one. Got it?
All right.
You seen Ricardo?
Your son? He's in a truck, leaving now.
Right back there.
[mobile game music playing]
[Joaquín] You busy?
- [sound effect plays on phone]
- [Ricardo] No.
[phone locks]
All right. What's up?
What's up with you?
- I don't know.
- Yeah? Yesterday, where were you?
Uh I was runnin' late. I was at home.
You're still going, aren't you?
Yeah. I go there every week, Dad.
[inhales sharply] Listen.
We have business tomorrow.
Don't forget the shipment arrives.
I need you in top form, now.
Don't let me down.
All right?
[grunts]
[Joaquín's footsteps fading]
[alarm beeping]
CUSTOMS
INSPECTIONS
- [dog barking]
- [agent 1] Hey, this way. Right here.
[under breath] Damn dog.
[agent 2] Check there.
[indistinct chatter]
[supervisor] Come on. We're late.
Hold it. I'll write this down.
- 24 pieces?
- [agent 3] No, 18.
- [supervisor] In each?
- In there too.
Also in those? And the next pallets?
[agent 2] This one, right there.
Empty the last row. Check what's there.
[agent 3] Shit. Damn.
- Fuck.
- They look nice, right?
These are beautiful.
Yeah, yeah. They're beautiful.
[dogs barking in distance]
[agent 3] They're all black here. Okay?
These are 40s.
Yeah. This one too.
[agent 3] Should we open the other one?
[supervisor] Yeah. Get number three.
- [agent 3] That?
- [agent 4] Should we leave it?
[agent 3] I'd leave it.
[supervisor] Empty this row.
The third one, please.
Joaquín.
Yeah, take that out. Hey, Joaquin.
Néstor, you are the head of customs.
Take care of your people.
Take care of the details.
- These are your son's size, right?
- Yeah, they are.
These aren't dockworkers.
They're civil servants.
- They work for the state.
- All the more reason.
Do they not have a family, or what?
Don't you think
they'd like to give their wife
one of those fancy perfumes
they couldn't possibly afford?
These are cool.
Or some special Neymar cleats
for their kids?
[agent 3] Fuck.
- I don't see the need to.
- [laughs]
I'm tellin' you.
The devil only knows more things
because he's old.
[agent 2] Damn, dude. These are so cool.
You can take a pair.
- Thank you, boss.
- You're welcome.
[agent 2] Can I take two boxes?
I have two teenagers.
They'll take 'em anyway.
The point is they ask your permission
and respect you.
Just hurry up. We're late.
[agent 1] All right, boys.
Double time. Let's go.
- Tonight is very important, all right?
- I remember.
Besides the Frenchman, Borrás is coming.
And we'll talk about
the arrival of the shipment.
- Have a good day, Joaquín.
- [Joaquín] Good day.
[sighs]
[somber music playing]
[ship horn blasts]
[gulls calling]
[indistinct radio chatter]
Hey, do you have
the unloading plan for the Polaris?
The shipping company
still hasn't sent one.
[woman] Put them in number one,
and tell them they have five hours.
- The Cartagena can't wait any longer.
- Very well.
Tell them to get a move on.
We're at full capacity.
All right.
[Joaquín] What's up?
Hi there, Dad.
- How are you doing?
- [woman] We have a bottleneck.
We've had two ships waiting over 24 hours,
and I don't know
what to tell them, honestly.
Tell them I'll deal with them.
[sighs]
What's going on there?
[tense music playing]
[footsteps approaching]
[sighs]
We have problems with crane two.
It was acting up last night.
If the crane isn't fixed before tomorrow,
I'll have to start diverting the ships
to another harbor.
[Joaquín sighs]
[horn honks]
[indistinct chatter]
What the fuck's going on?
[crane alarm beeping]
[inhales sharply]
- [wind gusting]
- What the hell's going on here?
- System controls. They're failing.
- Can't you just disconnect it?
The crane's only configured
to work with it.
- We can't disconnect when it's windy.
- Give me solutions.
We can wait for the wind to die down.
With less wind, I'll operate it in manual.
Impossible. I need it tomorrow night.
Then you'll have
to change out the console.
How long is that going to take?
If I have the part, no more than 2 hours.
[Joaquín takes a deep breath]
Can you guarantee it?
- If he says, he can.
- My brother here's the naive one.
I'll go get the part. Start disassembling.
Next time, let me know.
[Joaquín] Don't fuck with me, Luis.
I need it today.
[Luis] Look, that's not possible.
I need several electrical components
to fix that.
We have a huge fucking list
of supplies that are on back order.
[Joaquín] You can't find them
somewhere else?
No. All of the other suppliers are
in the exact same position as me.
You'll have to manage
with the other cranes for now.
Don't tell me what I have to
or don't have to do.
If you can't fix this problem for me,
then I'll have to find someone else.
- All right?
- I'm sorry, but that's all I can do.
- Wonderful.
- [call disconnects]
[scoffs] Idiot.
[indistinct chatter on TV]
[dockworkers chatting]
[door opens]
- What do you want?
- Some beers, right?
Starting early today, aren't you?
When Big Brother starts even earlier,
you don't say anything.
[man] Hey, Paco!
- [Paco] What?
- We're not working today.
That crane two is out of action.
Yeah, that's what I heard.
There are three anchored out there
and another one coming, right?
[man 2] They'll have to go
to Tarragona or Marseille
'cause here's not too looking good.
You apparently don't know Joaquín.
We'll work. I'm telling you.
The Armless has quite a hand,
but not in everything.
[woman] What do you think?
Are we working today or not?
Of course we'll work.
[tense music playing]
[gulls crying]
- [man] Are you serious?
- Do I look like I'm joking right now?
Fuck, Joaquín.
You've really got a lot of nerve.
You show up here in my office,
acting holier than thou,
and you're asking for me
to disable one of my cranes
so that you can have
a part you need for yours.
I'm asking you for a favor.
No.
No, a favor's something else.
[clicks tongue]
Look, in all of these years,
I have always helped you,
whenever I possibly could.
But what you're asking
would hurt my business.
We both know you can handle
very well what you have going on here.
At this very moment,
there's a level-luffer out there
that you're not even using.
That one, you're welcome to borrow.
I told you.
There is only one of those that I can use.
- That's mine.
- No. That's impossible, Joaquín.
Are you sure?
- You ask if I'm sure?
- [grunts]
What kind of question is that?
How long would you say
we've known each other, Molina?
- For too long.
- Right.
Well, it's much better
to have me as your friend
than as your enemy, I think you know.
Where are you going with this?
[sighs]
All right.
- [phone beeps]
- [Molina moaning on recording]
[Joaquín] What are they shoving
up your ass? Seriously.
[tense music playing]
Joaquín, please.
Come on. Stop the video.
Listen. We can fix this, but stop it.
I don't know why
I'm rather fond of your wife, you know?
I think that we can avoid
having to show this to Mari Carmen.
No. Listen to me.
You can take the part,
but if you please, delete it now.
- [moaning stops]
- [cell phone beeps]
[Molina exhales]
We'll do us. You do you.
Just business, Molina.
[Flaco] How'd it go?
How it had to.
You have two hours to install the part.
[tense music fades]
[group laughing]
[Paco] Because he's an idiot.
The dumbest there ever was.
They caught him, obviously.
They caught him, they took him
Yeah, you laugh.
They grabbed him,
and they dragged him back to the kitchen.
They took him.
Girl!
[Paco and dockworkers laughing]
[Paco grunts]
[uncomfortable silence falls]
Go on. You all got the crane.
Get to work.
Get me a coffee. Don't just stand around.
[indistinct chatter on TV]
[espresso machine whirring]
[somber music playing]
[quietly] Okay.
[Joaquín] The shipment is about to arrive.
We're going to prioritize
the unloading plan.
I don't want any mistakes.
- Everyone pays attention, understood?
- All right.
You reek of alcohol, Román.
Where the fuck did you spend the night?
Your car?
- Where was I? What do you care?
- How long will you be like this?
Why don't you get yourself a real woman?
Just leave me alone. That's my business.
You just worry about your son showing up.
All right. Do whatever you want,
as always.
But keep that shit away from work.
You're either 100% here, or you're not.
- [man whistles]
- Is that clear, Roman?
- [crane whirring]
- [man] Hey! It's working now!
[tense music playing]
[Joaquín] Get to work.
[horn blares in distance]
[tense music fades]
[Néstor] Víctor!
[man 1] Love that idea.
We can incorporate it into our protocol.
[man 2] Starting next month
would be ideal.
- [laughs]
- See you later.
[man 2] Bye, Néstor.
[Néstor] I'm so glad
to see you. [chuckles]
- [both laugh]
- [Víctor] So great. [grunts]
I heard you'd be working here.
I couldn't believe it.
[Víctor] Yeah.
Well, I guess I do now. [laughs]
And your hair looks good.
Yeah? [chuckles]
You look the same.
Well, a bit more elegant, right? No?
- Yeah. You look like you've done alright.
- [Néstor] I try to. [chuckles]
Look at my girls.
[clicks tongue] Come here.
[Néstor laughs]
Oh! [laughs, kisses]
Look what the tide brought in.
Víctor.
Hello.
[Víctor] Hi, Rocío.
- [gentle music playing]
- [chuckles softly]
What a shock, you know?
Yeah. We haven't been together
since the wedding, is that right?
- [Rocío] Seriously?
- [Néstor] I think so.
- Well, yeah. Maybe.
- [Néstor laughs]
[girl] Hey, Mom. Who is this?
Um, an old friend of your Mom and Dad.
Víctor.
What's your name?
- Sandra.
- [Víctor] Nice to meet you, Sandra.
[Rocío] We have to go.
Hey, come on. We're running late.
Let's go.
We need to grab a few beers.
Just like the old days.
Sure.
[Néstor] Good to see you.
[Víctor] You too, man.
[gentle music fades]
[somber music playing]
[sirens wailing in distance]
[excited chatter]
[man 1] Hey. Mr. Manchado's here.
- [man 2] Hey! Mr. Manchado!
- [paparazzi clamoring]
- [man 3] Over here!
- [man 4] Smile for the camera!
- [camera shutters clicking]
- [valet] Welcome, sir.
- [man 5] Smile!
- [man 6] Over here, sir!
- [man 7] Over here! Please!
- [man 8] Manchado!
- [somber music fades]
- [Joaquín] Hello, good evening.
[Néstor] You think? No, use your head.
[jazz band playing]
Good evening.
Did you hear any word from your brother?
After that little number
he pulled last year,
I really don't think he'll come.
[band playing jazz]
[light chatter]
Punctuality is not his virtue.
[jazz music fades]
- [kitchen staff chattering]
- [order bell dings]
Sorry for being late.
These things go on for eternity.
- Good to see you again.
- Good to see you too.
- How's the old man?
- Good. He sends his regards.
[Joaquín] Tell him when this is over,
I'll visit him.
And that I owe him a bottle of cognac.
I remember.
Javier.
Thanks so much
for coming all the way here.
Anyway, the clock's ticking down.
The cargo will be arriving tomorrow night.
On the Tampico.
The boat took an unusual route
so as not to arouse any suspicion.
Through the Pacific,
with stopovers in India and China.
- We'll be ready to go. Right?
- Of course we will.
This time, those Mexican friends of ours
sent a bunch of cargo.
Then you'll have a lot of laundry.
- I have the means.
- [Joaquín] I'm glad.
If Carfora trusts you, I trust you.
The delivery's the day after tomorrow.
We have half of Europe waiting too.
Our dealers ran out of drugs.
- Not a problem.
- [Frenchman] Mm.
Frenchman, glad to be doing business
with you.
[Joaquín] Pleasure.
I want to discuss something.
Alone.
You can wait out there.
[tense music playing]
I hear that right now
you have a bottleneck at the port.
Several ships at anchor.
Unloads aren't on schedule.
Anything that you want to tell me?
Have I ever made you wait?
The Tampico will unload with no problem.
I hope so.
[siren wailing in distance]
[tense music fades]
[ominous instrumental music playing]
PACIFIC OCEAN
[wind whipping]
Ten thousand miles to the right
[alert beeping]
[indistinct radio chatter]
[gasps softly]
[alert continues beeping]
[ominous music swells]
[pirates clamoring]
[pirates speaking Igbo]
[praying in Igbo]
[alarm continues beeping]
Try and make contact with control.
[sighs]
- [static crackles]
- [first mate] This is Tampico.
Our position is two degrees,
two minutes north,
49 degrees, 19 minutes east.
Speed, 20 knots.
We have a speedboat approaching
at a distance of a quarter mile.
They have not identified themselves.
Danger of pirate attack.
[group laughing]
[narco 1] Don't fuck with me!
I already did it!
- [in Mexican accent] No one dares?
- So? Who goes now, then?
- Who dares?
- [narco 2] The boss!
- Oh! The boss?
- [narco 2] Come on!
[narcos chanting] Come on!
Come on! Come on!
Come on! Come on!
- Come on! Come on!
- All right, then.
[narco 3] There you go!
- [narco 1] All right!
- [narco 2] Come on!
[narco 1] That's right!
Right there! You got it!
- [boss exhales]
- [narcos cheer]
[narco 1] There it is! You got this!
Yeah!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
All right! Come on, you asshole!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
[screams]
[group shouting and cheering wildly]
[group cheers]
- Who dares, assholes? Who's next?
- [alarm blaring]
[boat engine approaching]
[boss gasps]
[tense music playing]
[narco 4] Hey, boss.
What the hell is going on?
Everyone grab a fucking gun.
Hurry. We have to protect the load.
- Come on, assholes.
- Let's go.
- Let's go, you drunk fucks!
- Outside, now! Let's go.
- [tense music building]
- [alarm continues blaring]
[pirates clamoring]
[shouting orders in Igbo]
[all cheering]
[shouting excitedly]
[panting]
- [tense music fades]
- [man breathing deeply]
[gentle music playing]
[in Mexican accent]
Today, on my knees, I come before you
to ask you for your protection.
And care.
I'm aware.
Conscious of danger.
Alert to the enemy.
In the name of the lost.
And for the sake of the damned.
[door opens]
[boss] Ariel!
What the fuck, Lucía? What's going on?
Pirates.
What pirates?
- [pirates clamoring]
- [alarm continues blaring]
[group speaking Igbo]
[pirate 1 hushes]
Shh.
- [group speaking quietly]
- Shh.
[shouting]
[pirates shouting in Igbo]
- Please! Please!
- [yells]
Please. [grunts]
[shouting orders]
[sailor breathing shakily]
We have to protect the czar's mail.
Hurry up.
- What pirates? What the hell?
- [boss] Hurry up!
- What the fuck, Lucía? Pirates?
- Move it.
- The shipment is in danger.
- [Ariel] Lucía!
[distant shouting]
[sighs]
[ominous music playing]
[shouting in Igbo]
No. No. No. No, please! No!
No!
[groans]
[group speaking Igbo]
[hostage panting]
- [narco 1] Let's go!
- [narco 2] Hurry!
- [gunfire echoing]
- [captain sighs]
[casings clatter]
- [radio beeps]
- [leader] Captain!
- [radio beeps]
- [feedback squeals]
- [static crackles]
- [leader] Here. Now.
[radio beeps]
Come down here so we can negotiate.
Hold on.
What's your plan, Captain?
How are you going to fix this shit,
old man?
It's it's best not to resist.
[Ariel gasps softly]
You don't know what it's like, right?
This cargo is too valuable to us
for these fucking assholes
to take away, so
I'm not putting my crew in danger.
[radio beeps]
[static crackling on radio]
[leader] Captain.
- Are you still there?
- [radio beeps]
- [radio beeps]
- Your time is up.
Fire.
[quietly] Fuck.
[suspenseful music playing]
If you want to get to Barcelona alive,
you better find a good hiding place.
[hostage breathing shakily]
[rifle clicks]
[suspenseful music continues]
[gulls crying]
- [engine revs]
- [crickets chirping]
[engine turns off]
[ship horn blares in distance]
The czar's mail arrives tomorrow
in Barcelona.
Apparently, it took the opposite
route so they could avoid detection.
Through the Pacific Ocean,
around China and even India.
Ariel and Lucía,
the children of the Pereira clan,
are guarding the drugs on the voyage.
Four tons of cocaine in base paste,
disguised as Russian dolls.
Processed, that's over 100 million euros
on the street.
We're going to monitor
all movements through the port.
It's essential that you figure out
the license plate number of the container.
- Will you be able?
- Yeah.
But I can't assure you
that they won't be able to change it
after that.
Then you'll have to be attentive,
Lieutenant.
We have traveled
a very long road to get this far.
I'll do my best, Your Honor.
If we can get the Pereiras
and also locate Massimo Carfora,
then that would be
the largest drug trafficking raid
in the last ten years for Spain.
- [gunfire echoing]
- [alarm blaring in distance]
[pirates shouting in Igbo]
[narco 1] Over there.
This way. This way. Come on.
[indistinct shouting]
[narco 2] They're on the other side.
Let's go, you fuckers!
[sailor shouts]
[pirates yelling in Igbo]
[groans]
[narco 3] You fucking bastard!
[indistinct shouting]
[pirate 1 groans]
[narco 4] Cover! Cover her!
[pirate 2 screams]
[pirate 3 cries out]
[narco 5] That's it! Keep shooting!
Fucking sons of bitches!
- They were mine, Lucía.
- Stay focused, asshole.
[shouts]
- [Lucía grunts]
- [pirate 4 screams]
- [rifle clicks]
- [narco 3] There!
Let's fuck 'em up, man.
Let's fuck 'em up, dude.
- [bullet ricochets]
- [narco 4] Let's go.
[pirate 5 shouting in Igbo]
[indistinct shouting]
[narco 5] In the corner!
This isn't over, man!
Give 'em hell!
I'll hold them here!
You go around the back.
[Lucía] All right.
[narco 4] Let's go!
[gunfire continues]
[Lucía exhales]
[wind whipping]
[pirates shouting in Igbo]
[Lucía exhales heavily]
[indistinct shouting below]
- [shouts]
- [Lucía grunts]

[Lucía strains]
[grunts]
[panting]
[Lucía shouts]
[sighs]

- You shut the fuck up, miss.
- I'm gonna put a bullet in you!
- Let me go!
- I'll fuck you up!
- [narco 2] Hold your fire!
[leader] Fucking shut up.
Tell them to drop their fucking guns.
Tell them to drop their fucking guns.
- Do you understand what I'm saying?
- Put your guns down, guys.
- [Lucía] Put the fucking guns down!
- [leader] Drop your guns. That's right.
[pirates shouting in Igbo]
[quietly] Jesus.
[shouting in Igbo]
[narco 3] You're a dead man, asshole.
[pirates shouting]
[rapid gunfire]
[body squeaks, thuds heavily]
- Yeah. I'm gonna shoot you in the head.
- You bastard.
You, shut up!
- You fucking bastard, let go of me.
- Shut up, bitch!
Be quiet, bitch,
or I'm going to shoot you. Yeah.

- [narco 4] You're not getting out alive.
- Hey. You better stop.
- Fucking dog!
[leader] One step,
I'm gonna pull the fucking gun!
I'm gonna shoot her right now
if you don't drop your fucking guns!
Right
[shot echoes]
- [music fades]
- [Lucía panting]
You owe me one now, man.
[Lucía exhales]

48 HOURS UNTIL THE HANDOVER
[music fades]
- [light chatter]
- [camera shutter clicks]
[host] Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
The Consortium
for Promotion and Enterprise,
the oldest business association
in Europe, founded in 1771,
wishes to recognize,
with the Martí de Salat Awards,
the work carried out by companies
and outstanding businessmen
and businesswomen
during the last year
or throughout their entire career.
We want to thank the city council
and the department for their support,
as well as the restaurant Regia Maris,
which had welcomed us so well
for our last awards.
The jury has decided to award
the prize for Businessman of the Year
to an exemplary man
from the Maritime Consortium
who has spent more than 30 years
as the director of Terminal A
at the Port of Barcelona.
Let's welcome,
with a warm round of applause,
this year's honoree,
Joaquín Manchado Salas.
- Presenting the award is Marina Casals.
- [crowd cheering]
[suspenseful instrumental music playing]
Congratulations.
Thank you.
[music fades]
[Víctor] Miguel Rosillo, alias Miki,
chief of the Civil Guard at the port,
is involved somehow.
I don't know how many other agents
from his unit are involved in this,
but his most loyal are, for sure.
As we suspected.
The Manchado organization
isn't just customs and dockworkers.
He also needs the Civil Guard
to get the drugs out of the port.
Yes. I've seen it with my own eyes.
If we can manage
to intercept that delivery
and catch all those guys
while they're red-handed,
we'll be able to put an end
to the reign of Joaquin Manchado
in the port of Barcelona.
- [dramatic instrumental music resumes]
- [judge sighs]
[gulls crying]
[audience applauds]
[camera shutter clicks]
[dramatic music intensifies]
[high-pitched ringing building]
[dramatic music ends]
[somber closing theme music playing]
