MasterChef Junior (2013) s04e07 Episode Script

Blind Ambition

Last week - Oh, my God! - Yeah! A culinary blast from the past Groovy, baby.
Whoa, Addison! Surf and turf.
So many things could go wrong with this one.
Meant the end of the road for Mia and Tae-Ho.
We're gonna miss you! Tonight Whoa! A blindfold? The top 12 - Mm.
- What is this? Have victory in their sights.
We only want a replica of what Gordon made you.
But the toughest mystery box of the season I can do this! May leave some junior home cooks Whoa! In the dark.
I feel confused.
And then.
- Hurry! - Let's go, let's go, let's go! It's a team challenge for the ages.
Please welcome your VIP guests.
- What the? - No way! We gotta really step it up.
Let's go cook something! It's time, people! - Let's go! - Whoo! We're in the top 12 right now, so that means the top 10 is right around the corner and I'm so much closer to bringing that trophy back home to New York.
Let's go, guys.
Oh, mystery box.
When I grow up, I want to be a professional cook and a professional tennis player and I'm in the top of my game at tennis and I'm at the top of my game in the kitchen.
The finale is so close, I can taste it.
Welcome back, everybody! Yes, yeah! You guys ready to find out what's under your mystery box? Yes, Chef! Well, on the count of three, I want you to lift those boxes.
One, two, three! Lift! - What is this? - Wait, what? - Are these blindfolds? - What? Are you joking? Come on, guys.
What? Please, all of you, grab your blindfolds and come down here and take a seat.
A blindfold? I feel confused.
I'm not sure what's happening.
These look like bras.
Gentlemen.
Ooh! Oh, God! Chef Ramsay and Graham pull out this huge dining table.
- Whoa.
- Whoa.
If they cooked for us and we have to judge, this is amazing.
I'm gonna eliminate Gordon.
Now, your mystery boxes contain no cooking ingredients, but now you're all about to enjoy an incredible mystery dish that we just cooked for you.
But you're all gonna be eating that dish blindfolded.
Oh, God.
And you have to use your other two major foodie senses, smell and taste, to identify every single element in the dish that you're gonna be eating tonight.
Oh, no.
Because guess what? You will have to recreate the exact dish.
Oh! Oh, God.
Please put on your blindfolds.
I don't know what's gonna be under there.
Like, I'm a picky eater.
I want to see my food and see what foods I don't like, not blindfolded.
I do blind tastings sometimes with my mom, so while I'm doing my own stuff, my mom will call me over and like, "Taste this and tell me what's in it," so I got this.
- Ooh! - Oh, it smells delicious.
- Ooh, it smells really good.
- It smells really good.
Now, you've all got five minutes to taste and try to identify everything on that plate.
Are you ready? Yes, Chef! Bon appe-peek.
Wah-wah.
Your five minutes starts now! Even holding this with my knife the right way? I take the first bite and I taste white meat all the way.
It's gotta be either chicken or turkey.
Mmm, I know what this is, or do I? I think I'm eating pork.
I'm definitely tasting a white meat with a lot of herbs.
Is it thyme or is it parsley or is it rosemary? Look.
I'm tasting carrots, almond Mashed potatoes with green beans.
There's also a sauce which has some vinegar in it.
Ten seconds.
- Mm, could that be - What is this? Look at Mia.
She's eaten the whole dish.
Three, two, one, and knives and forks down, guys.
Good job, well done.
So good.
That was amazing, but I don't know what I just ate.
How am I supposed to recreate something that we don't even know what it is? This is gonna be really hard.
Okay, everyone, please remove your blindfolds.
In this mystery box challenge, you will all have one hour to make a dish that was a mystery to all of you.
In the limited pantry, you're gonna find all the ingredients that you need to make that mystery dish, plus a whole lot of other things that you don't need to succeed.
We only want a replica of what Gordon made you.
Now, the person or people who most closely recreate the dish that you just tasted blindfolded will get a huge advantage in the next challenge.
Guys, please stand.
Your 60 minutes to make us well, we're not telling you what the dish was that 60 minutes starts now.
- Ah! - Go, go, go, go! - Hurry! - Go! - Go, go, go! - Hurry! - Ah! - Excuse me! I think I figured the meat out.
I'm going with steak.
Champagne vinegar? What? I'm not sure about the meat but I'm thinking pork, so I'm just gonna go with that.
The only thing that I tasted was beans so I'm gonna look for beans.
All right, so now they are in the limited pantry shopping.
They have to get the ingredients for this one dish that they have to recreate, but the don't know what it is.
Well, they've got an idea, but if they're smart, what they'll do is they'll pick up two or three proteins and cook them all, taste, dissect, taste, dissect, and then refer back to what you were just tasting earlier and hopefully try and match that.
It's a big test.
I'm making a pork loin.
I ate the whole plate, so I am pretty confident that I know what is going into this.
I definitely tasted chicken 'cause it's a dry meat and I'm used to it.
I taste some tomatoes, only a few.
That's why I'm sautéing a few.
Mm.
I'm doing a pan-seared pork loin with some garlic rosemary mashed potatoes.
I'm feeling good about my dish, but then you never know.
I could be completely wrong.
Psst, are we in there? Hey, how are you? Well Trying to get out? - Yeah.
- Uh, right.
- Feeling confident? - Yes, Chef? Tell me what you think the dish is.
Whisper.
I think the dish is a chicken breast.
Chicken breast, and what do you think was with that chicken breast? I think that was with mashed potatoes.
Also some carrots and green beans.
Carrots and green beans? Yeah, and then a sauce.
What was it like eating in the dark like that? - A little bit scary.
- Was it scary? Yeah.
You have got 40 minutes to nail it.
- Good luck.
- Thank you.
Let's go.
Kaitlyn, what do you think was in that dish you tasted blindfolded? I definitely thought it was a white meat, so I decided to go with my gut and do the chicken breast.
So will you talk me through some of the other flavors that you're putting together in this recreation? I could definitely taste something sweet in there, so I grabbed honey molasses and sweet potato.
- Good luck.
- Thank you.
All right, young man, how are you doing? I'm doing great, Chef.
Now, top ten around the corner, yeah? - Yes.
- This is a big challenge.
- Very big challenge.
- Don't shout it out, but what do you think that main protein was? Well I'm thinking the main protein may be duck or chicken.
Interesting.
That's why I'm cooking the duck two different ways by pan-searing one and by baking one Smart.
And I'm also baking the chicken.
See that's very smart, and then you're gonna take a little slice off And then I'm gonna taste it and see which one it was.
And then reflect back to it.
That's smart.
Love that way of thinking.
Good luck.
Yes, Chef! Ten minutes to go.
Taste everything you're cooking and then reflect back to what you were tasting.
Let's go! - Whoa.
- Whoa! Kya! I look over at Kya's station and she started a fire that's bigger than her.
Kya, just stand back.
That's a big flame! Whoa! Whoa! Kya! Kya, stand back.
Kya's a really good cook, but that flame, ooh, I think it's gonna burn the kitchen down.
Stand back, stand back, stand back.
What happened? It's 'cause your pans up really high, so turn that down.
Now that's what I call a flambé, but we need this kitchen.
Yeah.
Please don't burn it down.
You okay? I yeah.
Keep the gas down low, please.
I never knew vinegar could do a flambé.
Last three minutes, guys.
You should now start thinking about your plating.
I gotta hurry up.
Let's go, guys! What happened? My green beans fell on the floor.
Is it okay? - I have leftover ones.
- You do? Three to be exact.
I'll have to roll with it.
Let's go, come on! I can do this.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, and stop! Hands in the air! Well done.
All right! Now, very carefully, all of you, please, bring those amazing dishes down to the front please.
Let's go.
I really hope that I got everything right on the plate, 'cause I have no clue what I was supposed to cook.
I could have done something entirely wrong or I could have done the dish entirely right, so I'm really nervous.
You guys ready to see exactly what dish you tasted earlier and had to recreate tonight? Yes, Chef! It was a beautiful - Pork, pork, pork.
- Chicken, chicken.
- I'm scared.
- Ooh! The suspense is killing me.
Pan-seared chicken breast.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! With a mushroom jus, rosemary and mustard-infused mashed potatoes, green beans with sliced almonds, honey orange-glazed heirloom carrots and baby turnips.
Oh, it's chicken.
I thought this was my chance to win and I got the wrong protein.
Let's see who got the closest and who will win a huge advantage in the next stage of the competition.
Right.
Kaitlyn, there's my dish against your dish.
It looks like I got most of the elements that were on Gordon's dish, so I'm feeling really confident right now.
Uh, Addison.
Wow.
I got the protein right, but my dish looks nothing like Gordon's dish.
Wow.
I don't know if I can win this challenge.
- Kya, well done.
- Wow.
That looks incredible, almost identical.
Kya's dish looks amazing.
How can an eight-year-old do that? - Ian, well done.
- Thank you.
Looking at everyone else' dishes, I don't know how I did, because even though I got my protein wrong, I have a lot of the other elements correct, so Well done.
Maybe I have a shot at this.
All right, good effort everybody.
The following eight cooks will return to their stations when called.
JJ and his pork, please return to your station.
Amaya and her pork, please back to your station.
Addison, Kamilly, Sam, Avery, Jesse, and Zac, please head back to your station.
The last time I was standing upfront, I was about to face elimination.
This time, I might win, so it is time to show them the real Corey.
The four of you had dishes that got pretty close to Gordon's delicious chicken dish.
Oh, yes! It's time to see who's the closest by finding out how they taste.
Right, first dish we'd like to take a much closer look at, please step forward.
Kya.
Kya's dish is beautiful.
I wish I had Kya's dish.
Kya, describe your dish, please.
So I made a pan-seared chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans and carrots.
Mm, that chicken breast is delicious.
The only things you've missed are the mushrooms and the turnips, but you got the sweetness right for the caramelization.
Carrots, delicious.
Mash, delicious.
You've plated it beautifully.
All the elements that you have cooked tonight are equally as tasty as mine.
Honestly, whether you like it or not, at eight years of age, you are a freak.
Really good job.
Thank you.
Whoo! - Whoo! - Good job, Kya.
- Are you so happy? - Yeah.
Next up, please, Corey.
Whoo! Great job, Corey! All right, please describe your dish.
Well, I did baked chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans and mushrooms.
So, I mean, looking at this dish, compare and contrast, mashed potato on the bottom, mashed potato on the bottom.
Chicken, chicken.
Mushroom, mushroom.
Green beans, green beans, and I think that says a lot about your attention to detail.
Your chicken tastes delicious.
You missed the root vegetable.
You missed the almonds in the green beans and the actual sauce, but for all the other components that you did get, I think it says a lot about you as a cook and as a mature young man.
- Good job.
- Thank you, Chef.
- Good job, Corey! - Go Corey! Please bring your dish up, Ian.
Whoo! Now, you have a lot of things missing, but we brought you up here because your chicken breast compared to Gordon's chicken breast is almost spot-on, but I think the thing that really set us over was your roasted parsnips.
Now, there are not roasted parsnips on our dish.
There's the baby turnips, the heirloom carrots, but the fact that you're eight years old and your palate, even when blindfolded, could pick out and discern that sweet, roasted root vegetable flavor was amazing to us.
Thank you.
The chicken is delicious.
The parsnips roasted really bring that flavor of baby turnips and glazed heirloom carrots in from Gordon's dish.
Tomato's definitely not here, but overall really impressive job.
Thank you.
- Whoo! - Nice job, Ian! - Whoo! - Great job, Ian.
Last up, step forward, Kaitlyn.
I'm feeling pretty confident about my dish because my chicken is pretty much identical to the one that they made, so I'm hoping that gives me an advantage.
First of all, protein nailed.
Mashed potatoes, chicken on both plates, identical.
I'm amazed you missed those carrots.
Mm.
However, great sear on the chicken, underneath and on top, all right? Green beans, why only three? Are we on a diet? Well, I blanched a lot of them, but I dropped them on the floor and I only had three that weren't dropped on the floor, so that's all I could get on the plate.
One each, one for Christina, one for Graham, and one for me.
That's very kind.
Mmm, here's the thing.
You got the most important thing right, okay, which was the protein, the chicken.
Well done on that.
Mashed potatoes, delicious.
Really good.
Nice and seasoned, garlic-y.
Just needs some carrots.
It needs some sauce, and you were literally Really good job.
- Thank you, Chef.
- Well done.
Great job, Kaitlyn! - Good job, good job! - Thanks.
That was a very, very touch challenge.
Four incredible versions of that chicken dish that you all tasted blindfolded.
It was very close.
However, there were two dishes that really stood out.
Both will get a huge advantage in the next challenge.
The first dish.
It was refined, seasoned beautifully, and that dish belongs to It was very close.
However, there were two dishes that really stood out.
Both will get a huge advantage in the next challenge.
The first dish.
It was refined, seasoned beautifully.
It's you, Kya.
Couple of things missing, but still an excellent serious effort.
That dish belongs to Kaitlyn, congratulations.
- Whoo! - Go, Kaitlyn! - Good job, Kaitlyn.
- Great job! Now, the winning dish of the night was just magical.
It showed all the elements of a great chef in the making and the presentation was mind-blowing.
Congratulations to the dish of the night Kya! - Whoo! - Go, Kya! - Go, Kya! - Great job, guys! Both of you will of course be given a huge advantage, but first, let us show everybody what that next challenge is.
Could everybody else come down and join them, please? Let's go.
Even though I didn't get first place, I'm really happy that I got second place, but I know I kind of have to step up my game now.
I mean, Kya is only eight, and she had more ingredients than I did and I think that is very impressive.
Right, as we all know, this is the most famous kitchen in America, but do you know what else we have here? Oh, God.
We have a world class restaurant! Oh, my gosh! It lights up! Whoo! Tonight, that amazing restaurant is gonna be filled with VIP guests.
We have invited a very special group.
These people inspire so many people each and every day.
- Who are they? - Famous people.
You guys are gonna be running the restaurant service.
- Whoa.
- Ooh.
You'll be working in two teams of six.
Kya and Kaitlyn, because you had the best dishes in the last challenge, you will be tonight's team captains.
Hey, high five.
Now, you guys are the new culinary faces in America, and because you are the new culinary faces in America, for this challenge you are going to have to use ingredients and produce from new places in America.
Huh? Kya and Kaitlyn, please stay right here.
If all of the other home cooks can just move to the side here, please.
Gentlemen, please.
It's never good when they step out.
- Oh.
- Ooh-la-la.
- What? - A box? - Oh-ho! - "New" something.
- How do we open these things? - I have no idea.
Oh, gosh.
Kya and Kaitlyn, one team will have to make the dish from a crate of ingredients from New - Ooh! - Yeah, England! And the other team will have to use a crate of ingredients from New Mexico.
Yes.
Kya, you had the very best dish in the last challenge, so you can either choose your crate or you can get first pick when you choose your teams.
I'm gonna choose the crates and I'm gonna choose New England.
All right, Kaitlyn, you and your team will be cooking with the ingredients from New Mexico.
Please come up.
Grab your team captain aprons.
We'll begin picking teams.
Thank you.
Kya, you are the captain of the red team, and, Kaitlyn, you'll be the captain of the blue team.
Now, Kaitlyn, you get to pick first.
I'm choosing this person because they have great leadership qualities.
Addison.
Wow, Addison, first pick of the day.
This is awesome.
Number one, I'm first pick.
Number two, I get the New Mexico crate.
What could go wrong? All right, Kya.
I'm gonna choose this person because I know they are a really strong cook.
Avery.
Wow, interesting.
They'll be able to keep the team on track.
Zac.
Welcome to the blue team.
- Sam.
- Kamilly.
Kamilly.
Welcome to the team.
I'm choosing Corey.
Welcome to the red team, Corey.
And I'm choosing JJ.
Nice, JJ.
Welcome to the blue team.
- Kya.
- Jesse.
Kaitlyn, you're choosing for both teams here.
I hope that I'm gonna be on the New Mexico team 'cause the Dominican Republic and New Mexico have a lot of things in common like beans and beans and more beans.
The person I'm choosing is Amaya.
Wow, welcome to the blue team.
Ian, pick up your red apron, please.
Excellent.
Please go and join your teams.
Good choices, well done.
Now red team, please open your crate of New England ingredients.
Oh! Now in that crate, you have things like mussels, cod, clams, Vermont cheddar, celery, parsley, and bacon.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Blue team, please open your crate.
Ooh! In that New Mexico crate, you have things like pork tenderloin, chorizo, corn, tomatoes, avocados, limes, and tomatillos.
Now, each team will have 90 minutes to transform their ingredients into not one but 31 MasterChef worthy dishes.
This is gonna be terrifying.
Now, your guests will decide tonight's winning team.
And then two people from the losing team will be leaving the MasterChef kitchen after this challenge tonight.
Please take your crates back to your stations.
It is pretty difficult planning and making a dish without knowing who the VIPs are, but it's the top 12 so I cannot lose this one.
I have to do everything in my power to make sure that I'm on the winning team.
Now, your 90 minutes to create 31 stunning dishes, your time starts now! - Whoa! - All right, what's your ideas? - Let's add the mussels.
- Yeah, let's add the mussels.
My team is making a New England clam bake with cod cakes and a celery salad, so my team strategy is to communicate and really make this dish restaurant quality.
I'm making the pork.
And I'm making the avocado mousse.
Well, it's basically guacamole.
Okay, I could make my salsa.
Yes, that's a really good idea.
We are serving a pork dish with black bean cakes succotash, guacamole, and a really amazing tomatillo sauce.
We got this, guys.
We got this.
Let's do this.
Wow, what an array of ingredients.
I mean, it's going to be fascinating to see what they do.
But let's keep in mind they are cooking for 31 restaurant guests.
Right.
We've never put this type of challenge in front of them.
Come on, let's do this quick! Teamwork, guys.
So, Kaitlyn, she has a strong crew.
She chose some of the older people.
And Addison, Zac, Kamilly, they've all been on a team challenge before, so they know how to work with one another.
And I think there's value to Kaitlyn's team there.
Oh, my gosh, look at how smooth it is.
We got this, guys.
Just work together! How's it going, everybody? Good! Sam, cut the potatoes in half.
I am.
Good news, I got exactly Get more than that just in case we screw one up.
All right.
Kya chose the New England box.
She's a serious foodie.
She gets excited about the ingredients.
She has an extraordinary palate.
She does.
You can start the seasoning for the fish cakes.
Okay.
The question really becomes for me, "Is Kya an authoritative enough voice to lead her team?" She's the youngest kid in the competition.
Come on, guys! You can do it! I believe in you! Guys, start on the bean cakes.
Someone go get a food processor! Food processor.
Wonder when the VIPs are gonna be here.
Doesn't matter.
We just gotta focus.
Yeah.
Right, red team, blue team! Your VIP guests are about to arrive.
What? Tonight's special guests know good food.
They have spent a lifetime cooking it.
Please welcome very special guests Tonight's special guests know good food.
They have spent a lifetime cooking it.
The people who you are cooking for tonight Please welcome grannies! - Hi.
- Hi! - Oh, my gosh! - No way! Welcome, ladies! Grandmas! Hi.
Grandmas definitely know food.
They've been cooking for their entire life and I want to win this challenge today for my grandma.
Whoa, look it! There's a huge line! I wish my grandma was here! This just went from VIPs to VIGs! These are grandmothers.
They know good cooking.
- How you doing, darling? - Hi! These grandmothers, if they're, like, 50 years old, then they've probably had a lot of good meals, so we gotta really step it up.
Lots of people to feed, you guys! Hurry up! Hey, Sam, can you switch with me because I cannot get the skin off.
Start forming those bean cakes.
We cannot disappoint the grannies! I can't believe these kids are just eight, nine, ten, eleven.
They exceed what I can do.
At eight, nine and ten years old, I wasn't even allowed in the kitchen.
These children are really dedicated to cooking, so it's going to be an amazing feast.
And I can't wait! I want to taste this food! Now they know who they're cooking for, a dining room full of grannies.
Just think of some of the wealth of the cooking experience in terms of what they've done.
And, I mean, these are grannies from all over the country, so you got a million different styles and backgrounds, ingredients that they know.
Come on, guys! Kaity, can you come and taste this when you have a chance? I'll be right over.
They keep on breaking.
How are we gonna do this? They're mushy.
Put it on here to form, okay? So the bottom can get coated evenly.
Wowser! These things are opening! Halfway, guys! All right, guys, Kaitlyn.
- Hi.
- Tell me, what's the dish that you're gonna be serving tonight to our VIPs? Spice-roasted pork with chorizo succotash, avocado mousse, bean cakes, tomatillo salsa.
Now that you know who you're guests are, is there anything about your dish that worries you knowing who your audience is tonight? Is there anything too spicy, guys? Yes, exactly.
- No.
- No, Chef.
Kaitlyn, do you still want to add the cactus? - No, no, no, no.
- No.
The cactuses just make the weird flavor.
Be willing to adapt based on who you know you're cooking for.
- You guys make the call.
- Yes, Chef.
All right, keep yourself on time.
- Good luck.
- Yes, Chef! I'm gonna help you cut some celery.
No, I'm okay! Just let me cut one, Ian.
I don't need any help.
Right, Kya, what are you cooking? A New England clam bake.
There's gonna be bacon, some mussels and clams.
So it's a mussel and clam bake.
- Yes.
- Wow, okay.
But a traditional clam bake doesn't have mussels in there, so you're diversing it a little bit.
I'm making it into, like, a restaurant quality.
Restaurant quality.
That's great news.
Um, Sam and Jesse are gonna make some cod cakes.
Cod cakes, so almost like a fish cake? Yes.
We're also doing a celery salad, Chef.
Okay, good, and what are you doing here? Celery salad.
That's not fit for salads.
It looks like trimmings you'd serve to your rabbit.
I'm not gonna serve it like that, Chef.
Kya, come around.
Come on, guys.
I'm trying to help you and I want you to shine.
We have a restaurant full of VIP guests tonight.
You don't mandoline celery.
Look, let me just show you something really simple.
That's the way you slice celery, but we've wasted all this, and also, what's that there on my thumb? - Dirt.
- Dirt.
So you didn't even wash the celery before you sliced it.
- Okay.
- These are VIP guests.
They have very, very high standards and one thing they don't want to taste is dirt.
Yes, Chef! Just go and do the garlic and I can do the salad.
- Yeah, I'll do the garlic.
- Let's do it! Less than 20 minutes to go! We gotta start plating! I'll do it.
I got it.
Let's go, let's go, let's go! Come on, guys, we can do it! Let's go! Come on, get that celery mixed together! I know, I know! Unfortunately, the red team, Ian has absolutely annihilated the celery.
- Ian, find a job! - I'm trying to! - I'm so happy Avery's on salad.
- Mm-hmm.
Okay, come on, come on, we gotta make 'em.
Yeah, I know.
This is the most vocal I've ever seen Sam.
There's another shaper somewhere.
Jesse, I mean, he just seemed out of it.
Also, he's very quiet.
He won't step up.
- Ooh, you almost cut me.
- Sorry.
With the blue team, JJ is doing really nice on the pork, right? It was cooked beautifully.
- Thinner.
- Thinner? Yes.
It is a battle, I think, of the dominant personality on Kaitlyn's blue team because she does have strong personalities and older home cooks.
Hurry, hurry! Kaitlyn, stop! Screaming is not gonna help! My concern is the stress is really starting to paralyze Kaitlyn.
The bowls on the red team, nothing in them, and look at the blue team.
They're 2/3 of the way.
Come on, guys! Let's go do this! Oh, my God, where's the pork? We need more Guys, just get it on.
Just get it on.
I don't think they quite realize the amount of work to get the volume up to speed to deliver 31 plates.
Just get the mousse on.
It doesn't matter how pretty it looks, just get it on.
It does matter how pretty it looks! It doesn't matter! Yes, it does! Why? The blue team's way ahead of us.
We're falling way behind.
Let's start to plate.
Let's get the foods, you guys, fast! Fish cakes are coming, guys.
Okay, why does some pork have three, some has four? One has two.
- Wait, what? - Why are you doing this, guys? Why does it have four? - You have enough pork? - Um How many more plates do you need to have pork on 'em, Kaitlyn? Uh, 11.
- Is this all we have? - Yes, Chef.
Okay, so we're not gonna have enough.
You're gonna need to go two pieces per.
- Hurry - Guys! Listen, he's got, like, six slices of pork.
Kaitlyn, stop freaking out.
You can't serve, like, eight dishes without pork on it.
Go back and take one piece.
Move it like that.
Yes, Chef.
Fast, you guys.
Work clean! - Let's go, let's go, let's go! - Teamwork, guys.
One on the pork.
Come on, guys.
We can do this! - Celery, cod cake, corn! - Go, go, go, go, go! Last minute! This one doesn't have a chip.
This one doesn't have a chip! Hurry, hurry! Hurry up, guys.
This one needs more clams.
- Ten, nine - Hurry up, hurry up! - Eight, seven, six - Quickly, guys! - Five, four - This one doesn't look Three, two, one, and stop! - Oh, my - Well done! Whoo! Come on, guys! Make 'em perfect for the grannies.
Come on, let's go! Five, four, three, two, one, and stop! Hands in the air! - Oh, my - Well done.
Nice job, guys! Whoo! Service, please.
He took the one without the chip.
It's okay, the rest of our dish is still good.
I'm really nervous right now because we had so many issues with the plating, and right now, there's nothing we can do.
We just have to hope that everything on our plate is really good.
- Wow.
- How fancy.
The presentation is gorgeous.
I love the colors.
Be careful.
Make sure that they're flat.
We did this.
I'm pretty proud of the red team for what we accomplished.
I mean, we did fall behind but we did bring it back.
I just know that we did our best.
Look at this.
Beautiful.
And these young kids made this? Wow.
Red team, blue team, congrats! You just completed your first full restaurant service.
Now all you guys can do is wait and hope that these most awesome grandmothers think that your dish is the best.
Why don't you guys go chill out on the patio? Off you go.
- Let's go, guys.
- Good job, guys.
I'm a little bit worried because we ran out of pork, so we put two slices of pork on each plate instead of three.
A lot is on the line here, so I hope we're gonna be okay.
Ladies.
Uh, ladies, a very big thank you for being part of this very special evening tonight.
On behalf of Christina and Graham and myself, it has been an absolute honor.
All your dinners have been conceived and executed by home cooks aged 8 to 12 years of age.
Now, a quick insight into the dishes.
The red team have served you tonight a delicious, fragrant mussel and clam bake.
Served in the broth of the bake, a cod cake.
Underneath that, of course you've got this beautiful roasted corn on the cob, and then topped with celery.
Now the blue team have served you a delicious grilled, then baked loin of pork that's been rubbed with spice, served with a bean cake, finished with a delicious, light avocado crema.
Now, after dinner tonight, you will decide which dish you liked best.
Please, on behalf of myself and MasterChef Junior, bon appétit.
Thank you so much.
- Ooh.
- How beautiful.
Seeing all those grandmas made me kind of, like, miss my grandma.
Yeah, same.
And the clams are great.
Mm, and very tasty, isn't it? The bean cake is quite good.
I thought it was salty.
Yummy.
I like this.
Hi.
Now, ladies.
Welcome to the MasterChef Junior restaurant.
How is your clam bake? I loved it, especially the cake.
- Oh, good, the cod cake? - Yes.
I liked the spice it had in it and the mussel was delicious.
It was huge.
Beautiful.
Let's talk about the blue team's pork loin.
It was tasty, but a little dry.
Interesting.
It's an absolute pleasure, thank you.
Thank you.
- So much.
What do guys think is gonna happen? I think if our food tasted as good as we thought it did, then we're definitely gonna be up there.
Tasty, huh? Now, Millie and Julie, welcome to the MasterChef restaurant.
Thank you.
The food is so good.
Gordon, I just have to say that we all agree that you're much more handsome in person.
Flattery will get you nowhere.
Now, you're enjoying the clam bake? I am.
I wish I had a spoon.
I'd drink the sauce.
Oh, great.
- It's too spicy for me.
- Too spicy? - The cod.
- The cod cake.
That's interesting.
Now the pork dish from the blue team, how was that? Oh, I loved the pork.
- Is this a bean cake? - Yes, it is.
- It's delicious.
- It is delicious.
- Which one would you prefer? - Probably the pork.
- From the blue team.
- Yeah, the blue team.
This was more complex thing for them to do.
- Yes.
- And they've done it well.
Yes, thank you.
Thank you.
I think I'll have to go with blue plate.
But I am leaning toward the red plate.
Definitely the red.
Red team, blue team, well done.
For the first time ever, you cooked for a restaurant full of VIGs, Very Important Grannies.
All of you, well done.
Shall we find out the results? Yes, Chef! Gordon, I have the results.

Please step forward Sam and Avery.
Congratulations, you are through to the top ten of MasterChef Junior.
Head on up to the balcony.
Kya, Jesse, Ian, and Corey.
You four have been amazing,.
Let's get that right.
But the team performance tonight, unfortunately, all four of you were somewhat fragmented.
Being in the bottom feels scary 'cause this is only my first time.
I'm standing up here with all my friends.
I don't want any of us to go home tonight.
Two of you, I do believe you have gone as far as you can in this competition.
Jesse and Ian, tonight Is the end of your journey in the MasterChef kitchen.
Kya and Corey, say good-bye to Jesse and Ian, please, and both of you head upstairs.

I'm pretty sad that I'm leaving right now.
I'm eight years old and I was the youngest boy in this competition.
Avery! I am just so proud of myself for making it this far.
Yeah, baby! Whoo-hoo! I'm really sad that I'm going home tonight, but this was the best experience I've ever had in my life.
Strawberry power! Cooking for Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi, and Graham Elliot was so cool.
You got a great sear on the scallops.
It looks like something out of a cool gastropub.
Thank you.
None of my classmates can say that.
It's perfectly golden brown on the outside and doughy in the center.
- These are amazing.
- Thanks.
I'm happy I came into the MasterChef kitchen, because now I know how to fillet a fish.
I know how to make croquembouche.
I know so much more than I knew before.
Bye, guys! You did great! In my past eight years on this planet, by far this was the best time.
Bye! Next week Bawk-bawk, baby! It's chicken time! It's an egg-splosive team challenge - Hurry, hurry, hurry! - Yeah.
With a twist.
There is another team.
That leaves the junior home cooks Graham Elliot and Gordon Ramsay.
Shell-shocked.
We gotta chop the chives! Three! Two of the best chefs in the world.
Two! Get it, get it, get it! How the heck are the kids gonna win this? One! - Dude! - What are they doing?
