I've always, always, always wanted
to do a show just with an orchestra.
Really deconstruct the music
and make it about the music
in a way that
I'd never... done before.
The idea of being in the Round
was really nerve-wracking.
It's... much more vulnerable,
I guess, as a performance.
There's something really... daunting
about it
that feels really exciting.
Standing
right in the middle of the stage,
surrounded by musicians,
the music just hits you
in such a powerful way.
It's so... moving,
hearing the songs
with an orchestral arrangement.
There's just such a...
a depth to it... that...
I don't know, can't be replicated
in any other way.
I love it, I love it.
I'm so excited.
This has been a dream of mine
forever.
When I was younger and I would drive
past the Royal Albert Hall,
I'd be like, "Oh, maybe one day,
I can perform in there."
I just hope people love it as much
as I've loved this experience.

I think
I always, always loved singing.
Like, I had friends,
who basically, what we would do is,
like, they'd take their phone,
and they would mouth the words,
and I would hide in the corner
and sing for them,
so it would look
like they were singing.
And it was really fun.
And I was like, "Oh, maybe
I should put a cover up online
"and do it, and try,
and see what happens."

and you're 15 years old,

You just have to do the thing
that you love,
and I'm so glad I did.
Because I love to sing so much,
my parents took me on Saturdays
to Sylvia Young Theatre School.
I had a teacher there... called Ray,
and he was the best.
He kind of heard
my really deep voice.
He was like, "Oh, you've got
something special. Use it."
You know, sometimes, all it takes
is, like, one thing for them to say,
and that carries you on
for the rest of your life.
But he completely... changed
my life.
It's been ten years
since I've seen him.
Well, I first met Dua
when she arrived at the Sylvia Young
Theatre School in London.
She was a confident singer,
even at that age,
and she had joy in doing it.
Are we gonna walk...?
She was able to connect the emotion
with the voice.
But, you know,
behind that was the idea
that if you're only doing the things
that are comfortable to you,
I just don't think the boundaries,
you know, stretch enough.
So I was always trying
to find things
that were tricky for her to do.

So selfishly,
because all I wanted to hear
was that piano in the beginning.
Unbelievable.

First time I ever met Dua,
we asked her if she could do
an Elton John AIDS Foundation
Oscar Party.
And she did a wonderful set.
And I sang a couple of songs
with her.
And I was so impressed
how brilliant she was clued in.
And I just absolutely adored her.
And that was
the start of our friendship.
B-B-B-Benny and the Jets.
Elton has always championed
young artists,
and he's always up to date,
and he just loves music.
When Elton had asked me to sing
on Cold Heart,
I was actually by the pool.
I get a message being like,
"Can we call you?"
and I was like,
"God, that feels a bit serious."
We said to her,
"Listen, we've got this track,
"would you like to do it?"
So she said, "Send it to me,"
and she played it by the pool,
and she said, "I'm in."
We're gonna do it!
Performing at the Dodgers Stadium...
it felt so special.
This was our first time
getting together to perform it.
Oh, my God. What a moment.
And I think it's gonna be
A long, long time...#
Sometimes,
when I look at things like this,
I can't even believe that that's me.
'From singing his songs
on my way to school
'to being on stage with him,
'I mean,
what an unbelievable full circle.'
It was magical.
I feel so lucky
that I got to do that
and that Elton has taken me
under his wing like this
and has always supported me.
And the fact that we get to have
moments like this together
is just unbelievable.
'I think the most important thing
that I took away from it
'was about the connection,
the friendship.'
We had so much fun being
on stage together, singing our song,
hearing people sing back to us.
And that's what it's all about.
She's got an incredible voice.
There's nobody really like her.
She's unique in her own way,
and that's why
she's been so successful.
Both Elton and I, we just really
show up for each other.
When I asked him
to come and join me,
it was an immediate "yes".
She's been so supportive to me,
and we're great friends,
and I adore her,
so it was no problem.
It was just "yes", straight away.
For someone like Elton,
who's very well acquainted
with the Royal Albert Hall,
it was really beautiful
for it to be my first time
doing it with him by my side.

I've always, always, always wanted
to do a show just with an orchestra.
Really deconstruct the music
and make it about the music
in a way that
I'd never... done before.
The idea of being in the Round
was really nerve-wracking.
It's... much more vulnerable,
I guess, as a performance.
There's something really... daunting
about it
that feels really exciting.
Standing
right in the middle of the stage,
surrounded by musicians,
the music just hits you
in such a powerful way.
It's so... moving,
hearing the songs
with an orchestral arrangement.
There's just such a...
a depth to it... that...
I don't know, can't be replicated
in any other way.
I love it, I love it.
I'm so excited.
This has been a dream of mine
forever.
When I was younger and I would drive
past the Royal Albert Hall,
I'd be like, "Oh, maybe one day,
I can perform in there."
I just hope people love it as much
as I've loved this experience.

I always, always loved singing.
Like, I had friends,
who basically, what we would do is,
like, they'd take their phone,
and they would mouth the words,
and I would hide in the corner
and sing for them,
so it would look
like they were singing.
And it was really fun.

Because I love to sing so much,
my parents took me on Saturdays
to Sylvia Young Theatre School.
I had a teacher there... called Ray,
and he was the best.
He kind of heard
my really deep voice.
He was like, "Oh, you've got
something special. Use it."
You know, sometimes, all it takes
is, like, one thing for them to say,
and that carries you on
for the rest of your life.
But he completely... changed
my life.
It's been ten years
since I've seen him.
Well, I first met Dua
when she arrived at the Sylvia Young
Theatre School in London.
She was a confident singer,
even at that age,
and she had joy in doing it.
Are we gonna walk...?
She was able to connect the emotion
with the voice.
But, you know,
behind that was the idea
that if you're only doing the things
that are comfortable to you,
I just don't think the boundaries,
you know, stretch enough.
So I was always trying
to find things
that were tricky for her to do.

Oscar Party.

the start of our friendship.
B-B-B-Benny and the Jets.
Elton has always championed
young artists,
and he's always up to date,
and he just loves music.
When Elton had asked me to sing
on Cold Heart,
I was actually by the pool.
I get a message being like,
"Can we call you?"
and I was like,
"God, that feels a bit serious."
We said to her,
"Listen, we've got this track,
"would you like to do it?"
So she said, "Send it to me,"
and she played it by the pool,
and she said, "I'm in."
We're gonna do it!
Performing at the Dodgers Stadium...
it felt so special.
This was our first time
getting together to perform it.
Oh, my God. What a moment.
And I think it's gonna be
A long, long time...#
Sometimes,
when I look at things like this,
I can't even believe that that's me.
'From singing his songs
on my way to school
'to being on stage with him,
'I mean,
what an unbelievable full circle.'
It was magical.
I feel so lucky
that I got to do that
and that Elton has taken me
under his wing like this
and has always supported me.
And the fact that we get to have
moments like this together
is just unbelievable.
'I think the most important thing
that I took away from it
'was about the connection,
the friendship.'
We had so much fun being
on stage together, singing our song,
hearing people sing back to us.
And that's what it's all about.
She's got an incredible voice.
There's nobody really like her.
She's unique in her own way,
and that's why
she's been so successful.
Both Elton and I, we just really
show up for each other.
When I asked him
to come and join me,
it was an immediate "yes".
She's been so supportive to me,
and we're great friends,
and I adore her,
so it was no problem.
It was just "yes", straight away.
For someone like Elton,
who's very well acquainted
with the Royal Albert Hall,
it was really beautiful
for it to be my first time
doing it with him by my side.
