Big Wave (1984) Movie Script
("The Theme from Big Wave")
TATSURO YAMASHITA: Out
there in the ocean, that's my silhouette
Out there, waiting where
the mountains move
I'm all alone
But I'm at home
Livin' with nothing
left to prove
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Looking for the pieces of a
Shattered dream
Running out of
places to be free
Nowhere to go
I only know
I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
(waves crashing)
KAMASAMI KONG: Big waves.
That's what summer means to the
surfers who come from all over the world
to challenge the big waves on
Hawaii's famous North Shore.
TATSURO: There was this girl
Another world
But I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
KAMASAMI: World-class
surfers arrive here daily to practice
their moves and styles
on these super waves.
TATSURO: We got summer
right here in our hearts
KAMASAMI: The beauty of
the North Shore is deceptive.
It may look peaceful, but
danger is always present.
On an average day, the
surf can swell to 10 or 12 feet.
TATSURO: We got summer
right here in our hearts
(waves crashing)
- (waves crashing)
- And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
KAMASAMI: Shaun Tomson is
enjoying one of surfing's biggest thrills -
catching a ride inside the tube.
Marvin Foster uses some backboard
to beat the axe of this thick pipe lip.
Gary "Kong" Elkerton carves his board along
this Sunset wave for an impressive ride.
Simon Anderson
rips through this wave.
Dane Kealoha almost
seems to chase his wave.
Marvin Foster gets
locked into this barrel.
Martin Potter knifes
along the lip of this swell.
Joey Buran with his
best ride of the day.
Pipeline shows Tommy
Carroll why it has the
reputation as the best
tubemaker on the North Shore.
(surf rock instrumental)
Mark Richards seems to take
this one almost back to the shore.
Peter Townend holds
tight till the end of this run.
Cheyne Horan shows why
cutbacks are his specialty.
Shaun Tomson catches
one of the early waves.
PETER TOWNEND: If you can't cut it in
Hawaii, you're never going to be anyone.
So you've got to come
here and prove it, y'know?
You've gotta get bashed
like everyone else.
KAMASAMI: It's
encouraging to see that even
the pro surfers don't
always look their best.
SAM GEORGE: No matter
how good you are at home,
If you don't go out and
take the drop at Sunset
or Pipeline, you just
quite haven't cut it yet.
That's the way it was since the very
beginning & that's the way it still is now.
For example, last year, I was always
considered just a little lightweight.
I can admit it.
I took off on a huge wave
on the inside of Sunset,
pitched out, went over the
falls, landed on my head.
The worst experience of my life.
And the guys patted me on the back
and I got a little bit of respect for it.
Because until you either get a great ride
or take the abuse, you don't get respect.
("Please Let Me Wonder")
TATSURO: Now
here we are together
This would have been
worth waiting forever
I always knew
it'd feel this way
And please
forgive my shaking
Can't you tell my
heart is breaking?
Can't make myself say
what I planned to say
Baby
Please let me wonder
- If I've been the one you love
- Please let me wonder
- If I'm who you're dreaming of
- Please let me wonder
Love
I've built all my
goals around you
That someday my
love would surround you
You'll never know
what we've been through
For so long I've
thought about it
And now I just
can't live without it
This beautiful
image I have of you
Baby
Please let me wonder
- If I've been the one you love
- Please let me wonder
- If I'm who you're dreaming of
- Please let me wonder
Love
KAMASAMI: The day of the Duke
Kahanamoku Hawaiian Surfing Classic
arrives with some of the highest
winds and surf of the season.
TATSURO: Please
let me wonder
KAMASAMI: The shore patrol
and air chopper have been kept
busy rescuing injured
and missing surfers.
But that doesn't delay the
tournament, or the power plays.
The spectators and
judges have all jockeyed
for the best seat as the
competition continues.
The first surfer to catch a wave is Martin
Potter, climbing down this incredible wall.
Cheyne Horan racks up points with
a series of some serious cutbacks.
CHEYNE: This is where you
really make your big name.
This is the area that
the magazines focus on.
And it's the end of the tour.
If you're not a winner in
Hawaii, the chances of winning
the world title are pretty
much totally out of the question.
KAMASAMI: Horan, presently
in first place, seems pleased.
And he ought to be.
Meanwhile, Rabbit Bartholomew psychs
himself up with some pumping music.
Shaun Tomson
still looks confident.
But there's a lot more ahead.
We asked three-time surfing champion
Mark Richards his thoughts so far.
MARK: Well, the Pipe Masters is a
crucial contest in capturing the title.
What it boils down to is that, at the
moment, Shane's 600 points ahead of me.
And what I'm hoping to do in this event
is sort of to place high in the final.
And I'm also hoping, even
though I shouldn't say it -
I'm hoping that Shane
goes out early in the event
because if that happens, that'll put us
on equal points prior to the World Cup.
And I feel if we go
into the World Cup on
equal points, it'll be
a real exciting finish.
KAMASAMI: Here's Richards in action with
his patented "broken wing seagull" stance.
Horan has fallen
behind in points.
This tight tube ride knocks him
off his feet down to his stomach.
But the ever-cool Cheyne retains
his composure and works the wall.
Here he sets up for a
desperation 360 off the lip, but fails,
which delights
competitor Mark Richards.
From one slip of the foot, a
disappointed Cheyne has to call it a day.
Michael Ho now sees a chance to break into
the top finishers, broken hand and all.
The crowd is stoked as the surfers
go out for the final rides of the day.
And it looks like a
tight battle between
Mark Richards and
Hawaiian native Michael Ho.
Richards has a great ride here.
But the towering whitewater
literally swallows him up.
Look, he's pulled it out, and he
even has time to wave to the judges!
On the North Shore,
wipeouts can become disasters.
In some places, the
rugged coral is only two
feet below the surface,
and it's sharp as a razor.
(surf rock instrumental)
Michael Ho's broken wrist doesn't
seem to affect his exciting style.
Look at this barrel ride.
But M.R. answers Ho with
a spectacular ride of his own.
Tucking tight inside, Ho
manages to escape this tube.
Richards stretches this ride.
He's having quite a day.
Michael Ho climbs a path out of this
swell after getting totally covered up.
And he's happy about it.
Shaun Tomson has
a late take-off here.
But the cool world champion from South
Africa turns it into another blazing run.
Right behind him is Tommy
Carroll on the wave of the set,
and Carroll cuts back
and moves into first place.
Mark Richards knows that with some
good points, he can win the World Cup.
Look at the style of this
three-time world champion.
With this run, Tommy Carroll
clinches the title for this year's Duke.
(applause)
A fitting trophy for
a great performance.
In second place is local
favourite, Michael Ho.
And even though he finished third,
Mark Richards has accumulated enough
points in this tournament to
take the World Cup and the
prestigious title of Surfing
Magazine's "Surfer of the Year".
David Gilovich, editor of Surfing
Magazine, asked the champion how it feels
to be named Surfer of the Year
for an unprecedented fourth time.
MARK: Well, it feels
fantastic to win it again.
After winning it this time,
a lot of people have said
to me that it must be
getting boring by now.
But it definitely
doesn't get boring.
It's like something -
it's like a good thing and
you can't get enough of it.
And each one for me has been
more exciting than the first one.
So it's probably much more exciting to win
this one than it was to win the first one.
DAVID: So what are
your plans for next year?
MARK: Well, what I'd like
to do is - I sort of tried to stay
off the circuit this year and
ended up doing most of it.
I think my plans for next year are I'd
like to spend much more time in Australia.
I'll definitely compete
in the Australian circuit
and the Hawaiian circuit
at the end of the year.
("Jody")
TATSURO: Jody,
I'm crying again
I'm walking
alone on the sand
The sound of the sea
brings you back to me
Oh so clearly
Feels like you're
holding my hand
Jody, there's
no-one to blame
When young hearts get
burned by love's flame
The love that we made
was a game that you played
Till it faded
But I still feel the same
Broken hearts find their way
Back in time to the
scene of the crime
So I'm here once more
Where we loved before
And I walk the shore
Calling to you
Jody, we happened so fast
Like summer, never
thought it would not last
But what can I do?
My life's about you
Ooh, Jody
Set me free from the past
KAMASAMI: One of the
newest and highest-climbing
sports in the world
is windsurfing.
In fact, for the first time, windsurfing
will be included in the '84 Olympic Games.
Windsurfing is one new sport where women
are certainly keeping up with the men -
and they look
better doing it, too.
Because of its impressive waves
and regular winds up to 25 knots,
Maui is a favorite place for
windsurfers and wave jumpers.
TATSURO: Oh,
Jody, come love me
Jody, come love me
("Girls on the Beach")
The girls on the beach
On the beach,
you'll find them there
In the sun and salty air
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
If you know what to do
How we love to lie around
Girls with tans
of golden brown
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
And one waits there for you
Girls on the beach
The sun in her hair,
the warmth of the air
On a summer day
As the sun dips out of sight
Couples on the
beach at night
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
And with the boys tonight
Girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
(camera clicks)
(camera clicks grow faster)
(frenzied camera clicking)
I love you
I love your gentle nature
("I Love You... (Part II)")
And your skin
so soft and warm
But I know you're
tough enough
To make it through the storm
When the sun comes out again
I'll be holding your hand
I love you
'Cause I love you
I love you
'Cause it feels
like we're dancing
When we're walking together
And when I have
a bad day, darling
You can make it all better
You believe in my dream
You and I, we're such a team
I love you
That's why I love you
Passion
Never goes out of fashion
But it's hollow
When it's followed
by goodbye
I don't want to be clever
And talk about forever
But I think I see tomorrow
When I look into your eyes
I love you
I love you for the way that
you bend without breaking
And it's so good to feel
That it's real
love we're making
("Magic Ways")
Magic, magic, magic
I love the girl
with magic ways
The way you
whisper in my ear
To make my
troubles disappear
It's magic
The way your
little fingertips
Make my heart
do double flips
It's magic
And when you
smile at me that way
You can warm the coldest day
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And even when
you're gone I find
I hear you
laughing in my mind
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And all I have to
do is think of you
To make the
music start to play
And I dance down the street
And the people I meet
Stop and say
Hey, hey
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
And it's true
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic ways
When I go to sleep, it seems
You sprinkle
stardust in my dreams
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And in the
morning, when I rise
The mockingbirds
all harmonise
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And when you want me,
you just clap your hands
(clap clap clap)
And I'll be with
you right away
And we'll float on a breeze
While the leaves
in the trees
Stop to say
Hey, hey
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
And it's true
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic ways
Magic, magic, magic, magic
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
- And it's true
- It's magic, magic
I might as well give in
I love the girl
with magic ways
I love the girl with magic
- Hey, hey
- I love the girl with magic
- Magic ways, my friend
- ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
- And it's true
- It's magic, magic
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic
ways, my friend
(wind blowing)
KAMASAMI: This may look
like the surface of the moon,
but it's actually a
California desert.
(engines roaring)
These are sand dragsters,
and this is not just another
Sunday afternoon drive.
Thousands of horsepower and lots of
traction are needed for this competition.
The crucial moment
here is the start.
As you might have noticed,
there is no tailgating in this sport.
These motorised desert
rats take this sport seriously.
(surf rock instrumental)
If you're worried about fuel
consumption, you can always tap the wind.
If you'd like to own a land
sailor, you should know
that one of these titanium
cars can cost over $50,000.
They're sleek, fast
and fun to drive.
But they take up to nine parking
spaces at the supermarket.
This guy obviously couldn't
afford the fully equipped model.
These people do their
sailing on roller skates.
It's called roller saling,
a sport that combines
skating and windsurfing,
except that you don't get wet.
Today, thanks to modern
technology, man has
come close to his ancient
dreams of free flight.
It's a great way to get a
bird's eye view of Hawaii.
(wind roaring)
Seatbelts are recommended.
This pro makes landing
backwards look easy.
Others aren't so graceful.
(car braking sound)
(car crash sound)
(synthesiser crash noise)
(slide whistle up)
(slide whistle down)
(crash)
(boing sound)
(clang)
There's more hanging
going on here than gliding.
Hanging on for
dear life, that is.
(synthesiser crash sound)
(splat sound)
(man screaming)
Ooh, he ought to
try bowling instead.
(bowling crash sound)
(animal roaring)
(raspberry)
(wind whipping)
(cartoon stick sound)
(woman screaming)
(metallic clang)
Here's a creative
way of gardening.
(duck quacking)
(synthesised glass breaking)
(model steam train sounds)
(horn blowing)
(crash sound)
(explosion)
(bongos)
(paper tearing sound)
(engine struggling sound)
(clanging sound)
(bomb falling and exploding)
(goofy sound effects)
Hey, wait a second. I'm not ready.
Hey, hey, put me down!
Put me down.
I'm not ready yet!
(man screaming)
(explosion)
It's a bird. It's a plane.
It's an idiot!
(boing sound)
This is Houston, Texas, where a
crazy new sport is taking off fast.
It's called building jumping.
("Guess I'm Dumb")
As you might have guessed,
building jumping is an illegal sport.
TATSURO: The way
I act don't seem like me
I'm not on top
like I used to be
I'll give in when
I know I should be strong
I still give in even
though I know it's wrong
Know it's wrong
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
(parachutes opening)
And breaking up
wasn't hard to do
But I could not
stay away from you
I feel love but not
the way I did before
Guess I'm dumb
This time, girl, has
got to be forever more
Ever more
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
And baby, since
we've been apart
Guess I'm dumb
Lately I've found
I have a heart
I couldn't let go
even if I wanted to
And you have to know,
baby, that it's only you
Only you
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
KAMASAMI: An important part of
building jumping is a fast getaway.
TATSURO: Guess I'm dumb
JUMPER: Hey, step on it, Mac!
TATSURO: Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
(police sirens)
Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
(wind whistling)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
KAMASAMI: It's not only the
ground you have to worry about hitting.
(plane engines)
Here is one way of
evacuating an airplane.
(wind whipping)
(surf rock instrumental)
(sliding down plane)
(collides with tail)
The object here is to land without
these people capturing you in a blanket.
Way to go.
This guy is the winner.
(cymbal crash)
(cymbal crash)
(cymbal crash)
(thud)
Flying a catamaran
is quite a thrill.
This catamaran is one of the
fastest sailing vessels there is.
It's a lightweight craft with two
runners and no bottom, but lots of speed.
What could be nicer than a
peaceful Sunday afternoon of sailing?
TATSURO: I'm dreaming, and in my dream
("Your Eyes")
I see your eyes
They fill my
heart with heaven
I'm flying, and in the sky
I see your eyes
They answer all my longing
For you
I've always lived
my life in fantasy
No chance to take
No heart to break
But now you take my hand and
You make me understand
That two dreams
can join together
It's morning, and as I wake
I see your eyes
They are my reason
They are my answer now
Because I love you
The one who made
my dreams come true
I've always lived
my life in fantasy
No chance to take
No heart to break
But now you take my hand and
You make me understand
That two dreams
can join together
It's morning, and as I wake
I see your eyes
They are my reason
They are my answer now
Because I love you
The one who made
my dreams come
True
(spoken) I love you!
I LOVE you!
(surf rock instrumental)
KAMASAMI: Like every other
sport, windsurfing has its show-offs.
("This Could Be the Night")
All of these nights
that we've been a-datin'
All of these nights
when we've been awaitin'
Something tells me
the time is getting right
Each time we kiss it
takes a little bit longer
But my love for you
gets a little bit stronger
And I feel like I'm
a-sittin' on dynamite
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
When it comes to lovin'
she's a natural master
And each time she's here,
well, my heart beats faster
And deep down inside, I
know the best is yet to come
Oh, I'm gonna pick her
up about a quarter to seven
I know we're gonna
take a little trip to heaven
And if it's love she wants,
well, I'm gonna give her some
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
This could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
This could be the night,
the night I've waited for
KAMASAMI: Here's a
quick windsurfing lesson:
Straddle the mast
with your feet.
Get a firm grasp on the boom.
Keep your knees bent slightly.
Whoops!
If your sail is in the water, pull
slowly up on the rope and try again.
TATSURO: So this could be
the night, the night I've waited for
This could be the night
KAMASAMI: Sometimes
Dad can be a big help.
TATSURO: I love you
KAMASAMI: Once you do
learn to stand on your board,
you can start working
on your fancy moves.
TATSURO: I love you
("I Love You, Part I")
I love you
I love you
I love you
KAMASAMI: If you can windsurf
while standing on your head,
then you're ready
for the open sea.
Try to remember that battleships
do have the right-o-way.
("The Theme from Big Wave"
surf rock instrumental)
Here's a riddle.
What happens when you combine
a summer day, a piece of wood,
and four small wheels?
The answer is anything.
Anything can happen
on a skateboard.
(crowing)
(barking)
This poor guy used to
be a famous war pilot.
They finally took away his
wings and gave him a skateboard.
(fan buzzing)
This is Mike Johnson, who lost
his leg in a motorcycle accident
only eight months ago.
It was after he lost his leg that
Mike began skateboarding.
(starting gun fires)
The surest way of
stopping is also the hardest.
(car brake sound)
(car crash sound)
Rip it with your hands.
Or your feet.
Watch out, fellas! Low bridge!
In California, they get as much use
out of an empty pool as a filled one.
(surf rock instrumental)
This is BMX,
"bicycle motocross".
This sport may be
quieter than one using
real motorcycles, but
it can be just as rough.
Just finishing this race both wheels
and arms intact makes you a winner.
Outside Salt Lake City, Utah is
a hill called "The Widowmaker"
that has a vertical incline
of almost 80 degrees.
The object of this contest
is to take one of these
specially-modified
machines to the top of the hill.
These are not your
usual street bikes.
These two and four-stroke
bikes burn nitro fuel,
and have been equipped for this event
with paddle tires, sprocket
chains and extended swing arms.
Many of the bikes need
special electric starters.
This wrist strap will stop the engine
if the rider loses control of his bike.
This is the first
run of the day.
Each rider is allowed
three runs at the hill.
The rider who gets
closest to the top wins.
Buddy Rich looks as if he's
serious about his final attempt.
Man, is Bud really pushin' it.
Go, Bud, go!
(cheering)
Here's last year's winner, Terry
Knott, really takin' it to the limit.
This is Ron True, the only
man to conquer the hill.
Let's see if he can
make it this year.
Oh, tough luck, Ron.
16-year-old Kerry Hawkins
will have the final ride of the day.
So far, no-one has
made it up this epic hill.
Here's Kerry's start,
lightning fast out of the gate.
Good momentum is key to make it all
the way to the top of this monster hill.
He's carrying less body
weight than the others,
and that may be an
advantage on this hill.
Look at him go.
Throttle open, tire
spinning, traction, fighting.
He's reached the ledge.
It looks like he
may go all the way!
Everyone on the
ground floor, on its feet!
Kerry Hawkins,
flying to the top!
(applause)
He did it!
Kerry "The Hawk" Hawkins
has climbed The Widowmaker!
He's only the second man
ever to make it over the top.
(surf rock instrumental)
Welcome to Lake California,
where musical stars come to perform.
This guy forgot to
bring along his wings.
We're lucky to have The
Go-Go Stand-Ins with us today.
Here's another celebrity
group, The Jackson Six.
And here are The Spinners.
Beat it, Billie Jean!
If there's no snow to be
found, you do the best you can.
This is Zuma Beach, where the sand dunes
are some of the biggest in California.
It looks like we're just
in time for the finals
of the "Who Can Hit the
Ground the Hardest?" contest.
The funny thing about this
contest is that there are no winners.
We're back in Maui for the O'Neill
Professional Windsurfing Championships.
A last minute official's
meeting ties up the loose details.
People have gathered
from all over the world
to participate in this
prestigious event.
And we're just
about ready to go.
Here is Lori Peck from
Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
And this is Laura McPherson,
also from Fort Lauderdale.
And rigging her mast is
Janie Kaminski from Maui.
They are preparing their boards
for the final qualifying rounds.
All the contestants are using a standard
10-foot board with a 12-foot sale.
("Only With You")
But unlike a regular
windsurfing board,
these jumper boards
have stirrups for your feet.
TATSURO: A promise,
a late night rendezvous
KAMASAMI: The judges
will be looking for four things:
technique, speed, length of ride
and the number and
difficulty of the jumps.
TATSURO: A secret,
a time for just us two
For dancing to the radio
Or just watching
the fire glow
Slow-motion kiss
It never felt like this
It's like we're on
An island
A place to call our own
I shiver
From thrills
I've never known
And when this
magic night is gone
In my heart
it will linger on
Only with one girl
Only with you
Time won't steal
All the love that we feel
We won't be
Breaking apart, you and me
Will we?
It's nice of you
to call on me
Now you're blessed
with a family
Time goes so quickly
There's nothing I can say
My heart is foolish
To live for yesterday
Only with one girl
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
KAMASAMI: All three
girls qualified for the finals.
Nice job, girls.
(record scratching)
The hottest craze in
America is breakdancing.
Breakdancing originated on city
street corners between rival gangs -
such as here, between the Black
Tops and the Spinning Spinozas.
Let's watch 'em go.
("Breakdance")
VOCODER: Breakdance
Breakdance
Yeah
Breakdance
Now
Breakdance
Yeah
Do it again
Do it again
Breakdance
Breakdance
Breakdance
("Darlin'")
Oh, my darlin', my
darlin' you're so fine
Don't know if words could say
But darlin', I'll find a way
To let you know
what you meant to me
Guess it was meant to be
I hold you in my heart
As life's most precious part
Oh, darlin'
I'm dreamin' 'bout you
often, my pretty darlin'
I love the way you
soften my life with love
Your precious love, uh huh
Oh!
I was livin' like half a man
Then I couldn't
love, but now I can
You pick me up
when I'm feeling sad
More soul than I've ever had
Gonna love you
every single night
'Cause I think
you're too out of sight
Oh, darlin'
I'm dreamin' 'bout you
often, my pretty darlin'
I love the way you
soften my life with love
Your precious love, uh huh
Every night, oh
Every night, oh, darlin'
Gonna love you
every single night
Yes, I will
'Cause I think
you're too out of sight
KAMASAMI: As long
as there is a summer,
there will always
be something to do.
Even as the sun
sets on this day,
you know that when it
comes up in the morning,
we'll be ready to
do it all over again.
(waves crashing)
("The Theme from Big Wave")
LONG COVID IS REAL - PROTECYOURSELF AND YOUR COMMUNITY
Out there in the ocean,
that's my silhouette
Out there, waiting where
the mountains move
I'm all alone
But I'm at home
Livin' with nothing
left to prove
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Looking for the pieces of a
Shattered dream
Running out of
places to be free
Nowhere to go
I only know
I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
There was this girl
Another world
But I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide...
TATSURO YAMASHITA: Out
there in the ocean, that's my silhouette
Out there, waiting where
the mountains move
I'm all alone
But I'm at home
Livin' with nothing
left to prove
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Looking for the pieces of a

We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun

Then we ride, ride, ride
(waves crashing)
KAMASAMI KONG: Big waves.
That's what summer means to the
surfers who come from all over the world
to challenge the big waves on
Hawaii's famous North Shore.
TATSURO: There was this girl
Another world
But I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
KAMASAMI: World-class
surfers arrive here daily to practice
their moves and styles
on these super waves.
TATSURO: We got summer
right here in our hearts
KAMASAMI: The beauty of
the North Shore is deceptive.
It may look peaceful, but
danger is always present.
On an average day, the
surf can swell to 10 or 12 feet.
TATSURO: We got summer
right here in our hearts
(waves crashing)
- (waves crashing)
- And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
KAMASAMI: Shaun Tomson is
enjoying one of surfing's biggest thrills -
catching a ride inside the tube.
Marvin Foster uses some backboard
to beat the axe of this thick pipe lip.
Gary "Kong" Elkerton carves his board along
this Sunset wave for an impressive ride.
Simon Anderson
rips through this wave.
Dane Kealoha almost
seems to chase his wave.
Marvin Foster gets
locked into this barrel.
Martin Potter knifes
along the lip of this swell.
Joey Buran with his
best ride of the day.
Pipeline shows Tommy
Carroll why it has the
reputation as the best
tubemaker on the North Shore.
(surf rock instrumental)
Mark Richards seems to take
this one almost back to the shore.
Peter Townend holds
tight till the end of this run.
Cheyne Horan shows why
cutbacks are his specialty.
Shaun Tomson catches
one of the early waves.
PETER TOWNEND: If you can't cut it in
Hawaii, you're never going to be anyone.
So you've got to come
here and prove it, y'know?
You've gotta get bashed
like everyone else.
KAMASAMI: It's
encouraging to see that even
the pro surfers don't
always look their best.
SAM GEORGE: No matter
how good you are at home,
If you don't go out and
take the drop at Sunset
or Pipeline, you just
quite haven't cut it yet.
That's the way it was since the very
beginning & that's the way it still is now.
For example, last year, I was always
considered just a little lightweight.
I can admit it.
I took off on a huge wave
on the inside of Sunset,
pitched out, went over the
falls, landed on my head.
The worst experience of my life.
And the guys patted me on the back
and I got a little bit of respect for it.
Because until you either get a great ride
or take the abuse, you don't get respect.
("Please Let Me Wonder")
TATSURO: Now
here we are together
This would have been
worth waiting forever
I always knew
it'd feel this way
And please
forgive my shaking
Can't you tell my
heart is breaking?
Can't make myself say
what I planned to say
Baby
Please let me wonder
- If I've been the one you love
- Please let me wonder
- If I'm who you're dreaming of
- Please let me wonder
Love
I've built all my
goals around you
That someday my
love would surround you
You'll never know
what we've been through
For so long I've
thought about it
And now I just
can't live without it
This beautiful
image I have of you
Baby
Please let me wonder
- If I've been the one you love
- Please let me wonder
- If I'm who you're dreaming of
- Please let me wonder
Love
KAMASAMI: The day of the Duke
Kahanamoku Hawaiian Surfing Classic
arrives with some of the highest
winds and surf of the season.
TATSURO: Please
let me wonder
KAMASAMI: The shore patrol
and air chopper have been kept
busy rescuing injured
and missing surfers.
But that doesn't delay the
tournament, or the power plays.
The spectators and
judges have all jockeyed
for the best seat as the
competition continues.
The first surfer to catch a wave is Martin
Potter, climbing down this incredible wall.
Cheyne Horan racks up points with
a series of some serious cutbacks.
CHEYNE: This is where you
really make your big name.
This is the area that
the magazines focus on.
And it's the end of the tour.
If you're not a winner in
Hawaii, the chances of winning
the world title are pretty
much totally out of the question.
KAMASAMI: Horan, presently
in first place, seems pleased.
And he ought to be.
Meanwhile, Rabbit Bartholomew psychs
himself up with some pumping music.
Shaun Tomson
still looks confident.
But there's a lot more ahead.
We asked three-time surfing champion
Mark Richards his thoughts so far.
MARK: Well, the Pipe Masters is a
crucial contest in capturing the title.
What it boils down to is that, at the
moment, Shane's 600 points ahead of me.
And what I'm hoping to do in this event
is sort of to place high in the final.
And I'm also hoping, even
though I shouldn't say it -
I'm hoping that Shane
goes out early in the event
because if that happens, that'll put us
on equal points prior to the World Cup.
And I feel if we go
into the World Cup on
equal points, it'll be
a real exciting finish.
KAMASAMI: Here's Richards in action with
his patented "broken wing seagull" stance.
Horan has fallen
behind in points.
This tight tube ride knocks him
off his feet down to his stomach.
But the ever-cool Cheyne retains
his composure and works the wall.
Here he sets up for a
desperation 360 off the lip, but fails,
which delights
competitor Mark Richards.
From one slip of the foot, a
disappointed Cheyne has to call it a day.
Michael Ho now sees a chance to break into
the top finishers, broken hand and all.
The crowd is stoked as the surfers
go out for the final rides of the day.
And it looks like a
tight battle between
Mark Richards and
Hawaiian native Michael Ho.
Richards has a great ride here.
But the towering whitewater
literally swallows him up.
Look, he's pulled it out, and he
even has time to wave to the judges!
On the North Shore,
wipeouts can become disasters.
In some places, the
rugged coral is only two
feet below the surface,
and it's sharp as a razor.
(surf rock instrumental)
Michael Ho's broken wrist doesn't
seem to affect his exciting style.
Look at this barrel ride.
But M.R. answers Ho with
a spectacular ride of his own.
Tucking tight inside, Ho
manages to escape this tube.
Richards stretches this ride.
He's having quite a day.
Michael Ho climbs a path out of this
swell after getting totally covered up.
And he's happy about it.
Shaun Tomson has
a late take-off here.
But the cool world champion from South
Africa turns it into another blazing run.
Right behind him is Tommy
Carroll on the wave of the set,
and Carroll cuts back
and moves into first place.
Mark Richards knows that with some
good points, he can win the World Cup.
Look at the style of this
three-time world champion.
With this run, Tommy Carroll
clinches the title for this year's Duke.
(applause)
A fitting trophy for
a great performance.
In second place is local
favourite, Michael Ho.
And even though he finished third,
Mark Richards has accumulated enough
points in this tournament to
take the World Cup and the
prestigious title of Surfing
Magazine's "Surfer of the Year".
David Gilovich, editor of Surfing
Magazine, asked the champion how it feels
to be named Surfer of the Year
for an unprecedented fourth time.
MARK: Well, it feels
fantastic to win it again.
After winning it this time,
a lot of people have said
to me that it must be
getting boring by now.
But it definitely
doesn't get boring.
It's like something -
it's like a good thing and
you can't get enough of it.
And each one for me has been
more exciting than the first one.
So it's probably much more exciting to win
this one than it was to win the first one.
DAVID: So what are
your plans for next year?
MARK: Well, what I'd like
to do is - I sort of tried to stay
off the circuit this year and
ended up doing most of it.
I think my plans for next year are I'd
like to spend much more time in Australia.
I'll definitely compete
in the Australian circuit
and the Hawaiian circuit
at the end of the year.
("Jody")
TATSURO: Jody,
I'm crying again
I'm walking
alone on the sand
The sound of the sea
brings you back to me
Oh so clearly
Feels like you're
holding my hand
Jody, there's
no-one to blame
When young hearts get
burned by love's flame
The love that we made
was a game that you played
Till it faded
But I still feel the same
Broken hearts find their way
Back in time to the
scene of the crime
So I'm here once more
Where we loved before
And I walk the shore
Calling to you
Jody, we happened so fast
Like summer, never
thought it would not last
But what can I do?
My life's about you
Ooh, Jody
Set me free from the past
KAMASAMI: One of the
newest and highest-climbing
sports in the world
is windsurfing.
In fact, for the first time, windsurfing
will be included in the '84 Olympic Games.
Windsurfing is one new sport where women
are certainly keeping up with the men -
and they look
better doing it, too.
Because of its impressive waves
and regular winds up to 25 knots,
Maui is a favorite place for
windsurfers and wave jumpers.
TATSURO: Oh,
Jody, come love me
Jody, come love me
("Girls on the Beach")
The girls on the beach
On the beach,
you'll find them there
In the sun and salty air
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
If you know what to do
How we love to lie around
Girls with tans
of golden brown
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
And one waits there for you
Girls on the beach
The sun in her hair,
the warmth of the air
On a summer day
As the sun dips out of sight
Couples on the
beach at night
The girls on the beach
are all within reach
And with the boys tonight
Girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
Girls on the beach,
girls on the beach
(camera clicks)
(camera clicks grow faster)
(frenzied camera clicking)
I love you
I love your gentle nature
("I Love You... (Part II)")
And your skin
so soft and warm
But I know you're
tough enough
To make it through the storm
When the sun comes out again
I'll be holding your hand
I love you
'Cause I love you
I love you
'Cause it feels
like we're dancing
When we're walking together
And when I have
a bad day, darling
You can make it all better
You believe in my dream
You and I, we're such a team
I love you
That's why I love you
Passion
Never goes out of fashion
But it's hollow
When it's followed
by goodbye
I don't want to be clever
And talk about forever
But I think I see tomorrow
When I look into your eyes
I love you
I love you for the way that
you bend without breaking
And it's so good to feel
That it's real
love we're making
("Magic Ways")
Magic, magic, magic
I love the girl
with magic ways
The way you
whisper in my ear
To make my
troubles disappear
It's magic
The way your
little fingertips
Make my heart
do double flips
It's magic
And when you
smile at me that way
You can warm the coldest day
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And even when
you're gone I find
I hear you
laughing in my mind
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And all I have to
do is think of you
To make the
music start to play
And I dance down the street
And the people I meet
Stop and say
Hey, hey
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
And it's true
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic ways
When I go to sleep, it seems
You sprinkle
stardust in my dreams
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And in the
morning, when I rise
The mockingbirds
all harmonise
It's magic
It's magic, magic
And when you want me,
you just clap your hands
(clap clap clap)
And I'll be with
you right away
And we'll float on a breeze
While the leaves
in the trees
Stop to say
Hey, hey
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
And it's true
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic ways
Magic, magic, magic, magic
Magic ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
- And it's true
- It's magic, magic
I might as well give in
I love the girl
with magic ways
I love the girl with magic
- Hey, hey
- I love the girl with magic
- Magic ways, my friend
- ways, my friend
You love the girl
with magic ways
- And it's true
- It's magic, magic
I might as well give in
You cast a spell on all
my nights and days with
Your sweet magic
ways, my friend
(wind blowing)
KAMASAMI: This may look
like the surface of the moon,
but it's actually a
California desert.
(engines roaring)
These are sand dragsters,
and this is not just another
Sunday afternoon drive.
Thousands of horsepower and lots of
traction are needed for this competition.
The crucial moment
here is the start.
As you might have noticed,
there is no tailgating in this sport.
These motorised desert
rats take this sport seriously.
(surf rock instrumental)
If you're worried about fuel
consumption, you can always tap the wind.
If you'd like to own a land
sailor, you should know
that one of these titanium
cars can cost over $50,000.
They're sleek, fast
and fun to drive.
But they take up to nine parking
spaces at the supermarket.
This guy obviously couldn't
afford the fully equipped model.
These people do their
sailing on roller skates.
It's called roller saling,
a sport that combines
skating and windsurfing,
except that you don't get wet.
Today, thanks to modern
technology, man has
come close to his ancient
dreams of free flight.
It's a great way to get a
bird's eye view of Hawaii.
(wind roaring)
Seatbelts are recommended.
This pro makes landing
backwards look easy.
Others aren't so graceful.
(car braking sound)
(car crash sound)
(synthesiser crash noise)
(slide whistle up)
(slide whistle down)
(crash)
(boing sound)
(clang)
There's more hanging
going on here than gliding.
Hanging on for
dear life, that is.
(synthesiser crash sound)
(splat sound)
(man screaming)
Ooh, he ought to
try bowling instead.
(bowling crash sound)
(animal roaring)
(raspberry)
(wind whipping)
(cartoon stick sound)
(woman screaming)
(metallic clang)
Here's a creative
way of gardening.
(duck quacking)
(synthesised glass breaking)
(model steam train sounds)
(horn blowing)
(crash sound)
(explosion)
(bongos)
(paper tearing sound)
(engine struggling sound)
(clanging sound)
(bomb falling and exploding)
(goofy sound effects)
Hey, wait a second. I'm not ready.
Hey, hey, put me down!
Put me down.
I'm not ready yet!
(man screaming)
(explosion)
It's a bird. It's a plane.
It's an idiot!
(boing sound)
This is Houston, Texas, where a
crazy new sport is taking off fast.
It's called building jumping.
("Guess I'm Dumb")
As you might have guessed,
building jumping is an illegal sport.
TATSURO: The way
I act don't seem like me
I'm not on top
like I used to be
I'll give in when
I know I should be strong
I still give in even
though I know it's wrong
Know it's wrong
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
(parachutes opening)
And breaking up
wasn't hard to do
But I could not
stay away from you
I feel love but not
the way I did before
Guess I'm dumb
This time, girl, has
got to be forever more
Ever more
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
And baby, since
we've been apart
Guess I'm dumb
Lately I've found
I have a heart
I couldn't let go
even if I wanted to
And you have to know,
baby, that it's only you
Only you
I guess I'm dumb
but I don't care
KAMASAMI: An important part of
building jumping is a fast getaway.
TATSURO: Guess I'm dumb
JUMPER: Hey, step on it, Mac!
TATSURO: Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
(police sirens)
Guess I'm dumb
Guess I'm dumb
(wind whistling)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
(parachute opens)
KAMASAMI: It's not only the
ground you have to worry about hitting.
(plane engines)
Here is one way of
evacuating an airplane.
(wind whipping)
(surf rock instrumental)
(sliding down plane)
(collides with tail)
The object here is to land without
these people capturing you in a blanket.
Way to go.
This guy is the winner.
(cymbal crash)
(cymbal crash)
(cymbal crash)
(thud)
Flying a catamaran
is quite a thrill.
This catamaran is one of the
fastest sailing vessels there is.
It's a lightweight craft with two
runners and no bottom, but lots of speed.
What could be nicer than a
peaceful Sunday afternoon of sailing?
TATSURO: I'm dreaming, and in my dream
("Your Eyes")
I see your eyes
They fill my
heart with heaven
I'm flying, and in the sky
I see your eyes
They answer all my longing
For you
I've always lived
my life in fantasy
No chance to take
No heart to break
But now you take my hand and
You make me understand
That two dreams
can join together
It's morning, and as I wake
I see your eyes
They are my reason
They are my answer now
Because I love you
The one who made
my dreams come true
I've always lived
my life in fantasy
No chance to take
No heart to break
But now you take my hand and
You make me understand
That two dreams
can join together
It's morning, and as I wake
I see your eyes
They are my reason
They are my answer now
Because I love you
The one who made
my dreams come
True
(spoken) I love you!
I LOVE you!
(surf rock instrumental)
KAMASAMI: Like every other
sport, windsurfing has its show-offs.
("This Could Be the Night")
All of these nights
that we've been a-datin'
All of these nights
when we've been awaitin'
Something tells me
the time is getting right
Each time we kiss it
takes a little bit longer
But my love for you
gets a little bit stronger
And I feel like I'm
a-sittin' on dynamite
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
When it comes to lovin'
she's a natural master
And each time she's here,
well, my heart beats faster
And deep down inside, I
know the best is yet to come
Oh, I'm gonna pick her
up about a quarter to seven
I know we're gonna
take a little trip to heaven
And if it's love she wants,
well, I'm gonna give her some
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
So this could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
This could be the night
The night I've waited for
This could be the night
I'm gonna give her
all my love and more
This could be the night,
the night I've waited for
KAMASAMI: Here's a
quick windsurfing lesson:
Straddle the mast
with your feet.
Get a firm grasp on the boom.
Keep your knees bent slightly.
Whoops!
If your sail is in the water, pull
slowly up on the rope and try again.
TATSURO: So this could be
the night, the night I've waited for
This could be the night
KAMASAMI: Sometimes
Dad can be a big help.
TATSURO: I love you
KAMASAMI: Once you do
learn to stand on your board,
you can start working
on your fancy moves.
TATSURO: I love you
("I Love You, Part I")
I love you
I love you
I love you
KAMASAMI: If you can windsurf
while standing on your head,
then you're ready
for the open sea.
Try to remember that battleships
do have the right-o-way.
("The Theme from Big Wave"
surf rock instrumental)
Here's a riddle.
What happens when you combine
a summer day, a piece of wood,
and four small wheels?
The answer is anything.
Anything can happen
on a skateboard.
(crowing)
(barking)
This poor guy used to
be a famous war pilot.
They finally took away his
wings and gave him a skateboard.
(fan buzzing)
This is Mike Johnson, who lost
his leg in a motorcycle accident
only eight months ago.
It was after he lost his leg that
Mike began skateboarding.
(starting gun fires)
The surest way of
stopping is also the hardest.
(car brake sound)
(car crash sound)
Rip it with your hands.
Or your feet.
Watch out, fellas! Low bridge!
In California, they get as much use
out of an empty pool as a filled one.
(surf rock instrumental)
This is BMX,
"bicycle motocross".
This sport may be
quieter than one using
real motorcycles, but
it can be just as rough.
Just finishing this race both wheels
and arms intact makes you a winner.
Outside Salt Lake City, Utah is
a hill called "The Widowmaker"
that has a vertical incline
of almost 80 degrees.
The object of this contest
is to take one of these
specially-modified
machines to the top of the hill.
These are not your
usual street bikes.
These two and four-stroke
bikes burn nitro fuel,
and have been equipped for this event
with paddle tires, sprocket
chains and extended swing arms.
Many of the bikes need
special electric starters.
This wrist strap will stop the engine
if the rider loses control of his bike.
This is the first
run of the day.
Each rider is allowed
three runs at the hill.
The rider who gets
closest to the top wins.
Buddy Rich looks as if he's
serious about his final attempt.
Man, is Bud really pushin' it.
Go, Bud, go!
(cheering)
Here's last year's winner, Terry
Knott, really takin' it to the limit.
This is Ron True, the only
man to conquer the hill.
Let's see if he can
make it this year.
Oh, tough luck, Ron.
16-year-old Kerry Hawkins
will have the final ride of the day.
So far, no-one has
made it up this epic hill.
Here's Kerry's start,
lightning fast out of the gate.
Good momentum is key to make it all
the way to the top of this monster hill.
He's carrying less body
weight than the others,
and that may be an
advantage on this hill.
Look at him go.
Throttle open, tire
spinning, traction, fighting.
He's reached the ledge.
It looks like he
may go all the way!
Everyone on the
ground floor, on its feet!
Kerry Hawkins,
flying to the top!
(applause)
He did it!
Kerry "The Hawk" Hawkins
has climbed The Widowmaker!
He's only the second man
ever to make it over the top.
(surf rock instrumental)
Welcome to Lake California,
where musical stars come to perform.
This guy forgot to
bring along his wings.
We're lucky to have The
Go-Go Stand-Ins with us today.
Here's another celebrity
group, The Jackson Six.
And here are The Spinners.
Beat it, Billie Jean!
If there's no snow to be
found, you do the best you can.
This is Zuma Beach, where the sand dunes
are some of the biggest in California.
It looks like we're just
in time for the finals
of the "Who Can Hit the
Ground the Hardest?" contest.
The funny thing about this
contest is that there are no winners.
We're back in Maui for the O'Neill
Professional Windsurfing Championships.
A last minute official's
meeting ties up the loose details.
People have gathered
from all over the world
to participate in this
prestigious event.
And we're just
about ready to go.
Here is Lori Peck from
Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
And this is Laura McPherson,
also from Fort Lauderdale.
And rigging her mast is
Janie Kaminski from Maui.
They are preparing their boards
for the final qualifying rounds.
All the contestants are using a standard
10-foot board with a 12-foot sale.
("Only With You")
But unlike a regular
windsurfing board,
these jumper boards
have stirrups for your feet.
TATSURO: A promise,
a late night rendezvous
KAMASAMI: The judges
will be looking for four things:
technique, speed, length of ride
and the number and
difficulty of the jumps.
TATSURO: A secret,
a time for just us two
For dancing to the radio
Or just watching
the fire glow
Slow-motion kiss
It never felt like this
It's like we're on
An island
A place to call our own
I shiver
From thrills
I've never known
And when this
magic night is gone
In my heart
it will linger on
Only with one girl
Only with you
Time won't steal
All the love that we feel
We won't be
Breaking apart, you and me
Will we?
It's nice of you
to call on me
Now you're blessed
with a family
Time goes so quickly
There's nothing I can say
My heart is foolish
To live for yesterday
Only with one girl
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
Only with you
KAMASAMI: All three
girls qualified for the finals.
Nice job, girls.
(record scratching)
The hottest craze in
America is breakdancing.
Breakdancing originated on city
street corners between rival gangs -
such as here, between the Black
Tops and the Spinning Spinozas.
Let's watch 'em go.
("Breakdance")
VOCODER: Breakdance
Breakdance
Yeah
Breakdance
Now
Breakdance
Yeah
Do it again
Do it again
Breakdance
Breakdance
Breakdance
("Darlin'")
Oh, my darlin', my
darlin' you're so fine
Don't know if words could say
But darlin', I'll find a way
To let you know
what you meant to me
Guess it was meant to be
I hold you in my heart
As life's most precious part
Oh, darlin'
I'm dreamin' 'bout you
often, my pretty darlin'
I love the way you
soften my life with love
Your precious love, uh huh
Oh!
I was livin' like half a man
Then I couldn't
love, but now I can
You pick me up
when I'm feeling sad
More soul than I've ever had
Gonna love you
every single night
'Cause I think
you're too out of sight
Oh, darlin'
I'm dreamin' 'bout you
often, my pretty darlin'
I love the way you
soften my life with love
Your precious love, uh huh
Every night, oh
Every night, oh, darlin'
Gonna love you
every single night
Yes, I will
'Cause I think
you're too out of sight
KAMASAMI: As long
as there is a summer,
there will always
be something to do.
Even as the sun
sets on this day,
you know that when it
comes up in the morning,
we'll be ready to
do it all over again.
(waves crashing)
("The Theme from Big Wave")
LONG COVID IS REAL - PROTECYOURSELF AND YOUR COMMUNITY
Out there in the ocean,
that's my silhouette
Out there, waiting where
the mountains move
I'm all alone
But I'm at home
Livin' with nothing
left to prove
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Looking for the pieces of a
Shattered dream
Running out of
places to be free
Nowhere to go
I only know
I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
There was this girl
Another world
But I hear the
thunder callin' me
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide
We just float in the sun
till the big wave comes
Then we ride, ride, ride
We got summer
right here in our hearts
And we move with the tide...
