Daniel and the Fiery Furnace (2026) Movie Script
1
[low-key music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
Long ago, on this very road,
the Lord allowed
his people, Judah,
to be taken into exile
in Babylon.
But there were a group
of fine men
who started something
magnificent.
They were pure of heart.
They were steadfast.
And they followed the Lord
with all their might.
The Israelites had turned
their backs on God,
and their king
refused to listen
to the warnings
of the prophet Jeremiah.
There was one man who led his
people to stand for the truth.
[dramatic music playing]
[Azariah] Daniel.
Jeremiah's sister is calling
for you in the garden.
You sent for me.
What is it?
I want to show you something.
[birds tweeting]
[sniffs]
It's the first bloom.
It's beautiful.
Your garden
is always breathtaking.
It's hard to imagine you won't
be able to tend to it for long.
-Last night...
-Another dream?
One that made me unsure
of God's plan.
Tell me what you saw.
[thunder rumbling]
[Mysterious Man] Daniel
was from the house of Judah,
along with Hananiah,
Mishael, and Azariah,
who you know as Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego.
They all looked up
to the prophet Jeremiah.
The king finally acknowledged
the voice of God's prophet.
A lion has come out of his lair.
[Mysterious Man]
Jeremiah pleaded
with Jehoiakim, the king.
A destroyer of nations
has set out.
He has left his home
to pillage your land.
So cry aloud!
The fierce anger of our God
has not turned away.
[Mysterious Man] His warning was
that the wickedness of Judah
would lead to destruction
at the hand of the Babylonians.
You call this
the word of the Lord?
[Mysterious Man]
But King Jehoiachin despised
the true prophet...
and God's word.
[dramatic music playing]
Then the word of the Lord
came to Jeremiah.
[in foreign language]
[wood scraping]
[Mysterious Man] The Lord said,
"Make a yoke out of straps
and crossbars
and put it on your neck."
Jeremiah went to the palace
boldly before
the King of Israel.
Bow your neck under the yoke
of the King of Babylon.
Serve him...
and you will live.
"I will hand all your countries
over to my servant
Nebuchadnezzar."
Oh, Marduk.
Forge me into an instrument
of your great power.
Help me to grow
my father's dynasty
and strengthen
your dominion over the earth.
Bless me with good fortune,
that I might bring glory
to your great name...
and to mine.
Brother.
Mishael.
What are you thinking?
You know, Joshua was courageous.
Solomon was wise.
David feared God.
Moses trusted the Lord.
But Job.
Job never doubted.
What about Samson?
[laughs] Mishael.
We could do with another Samson.
Maybe I should grow my hair
like Samson.
Ah, but Samson's strength
was never in his hair.
It was in our God.
[Mishael] Who was the fastest?
Well, Elijah
did outrun the chariots.
Well, at least I can outrun you.
[laughs]
Come back here, you!
[grunts]
[ominous music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
Despite the warning
from the Lord's true prophet,
the king was not ready
for the assault
from the Babylonians.
[horns blowing]
Babylonians at the gates!
[horns continue blowing]
[dramatic music playing]
Hide the golden articles!
Save yourselves!
Flee for your life!
[Mysterious Man]
They stormed Jerusalem
with little resistance,
taking whatever they wanted.
[yelling]
[horse whinnies]
[yells]
-[swords clashing]
-[screaming]
[tense music playing]
[screams fading]
[Nebuchadnezzar] Ashpenaz.
Find me the nobles and the women
worthy of my father's house.
Let's go!
[all yelling]
[Jeremiah] How bitter it is.
How it pierces the heart.
[somber music playing]
I writhe in pain. My...
heart is pounding within me.
[baby crying]
[screaming]
I have heard the battle cry.
I have heard
the sound of the trumpet.
[man screams]
Disaster follows disaster.
The whole land lies in ruins.
In an instant...
my beautiful city is destroyed.
Surrender...
and you will live!
[in foreign language]
[in English] Where is your king?
I am eager to meet him.
Where is he?!
Making for the tunnels.
[yells]
-[grunts]
-[coughs and gasps]
Did you not hear?
I, Nab-kudurri-uur,
am come as your gods appointed.
Like your great emancipator,
Moses,
I have been called to liberate
these people here of Judah,
the Israelites,
and deliver them out of bondage
into the promised land
of Babylon.
They are my people now.
You are my people now.
So...
let my people go.
Yes?
[laughs]
Yes.
We will go.
[in foreign language]
[grunts]
[dramatic music playing]
Is this how you treat
the Lord's anointed?
[Jehoiakim coughing]
[horse whinnies]
For the glory of the gods...
you are welcome.
Hyah!
[dour music playing]
[Susanna] Daniel.
Daniel, is this it?
This is only the beginning.
[horses whinnying]
[coughing]
[Nebuchadnezzar]
This was a great city.
Soon, it will be
so much greater.
Three long years...
three long years
I strive to be dutiful.
I did everything to please you.
Well, it seems you have
displeased somebody.
And you have been pleasing
the Egyptians much more than me.
[wheezing]
You must now pay the price
of consequence.
Your own prophets told you
to come willingly to Babylon,
but you refuse.
[Jehoiakim sobbing]
You have been weighed
and measured...
and found wanting.
I have come to exact a judgment
on you for your iniquities.
We had an agreement as kings!
You gave me your word!
Please.
There can be no treaties
between men and lions.
We are bound by fate.
You and I.
I would say, go to your god.
[whimpers]
But he doesn't want you.
[dramatic music playing]
[yells]
Daniel was only a young man
when Nebuchadnezzar
raided Jerusalem.
Yes?
I need to speak with him
right away.
[in foreign language]
[in English]
You are leaving tomorrow.
We will be gone a long time.
What do you need?
Can you bring me
to the Hall of the Scribes?
[Jeremiah speaks
foreign language]
[in English] We shall never
bow down to them, brother.
Yes. Yes, this one.
Thank you.
Did you find, Mishael?
Moses.
[whimpering]
Daniel?
-Moses.
-What does it say?
It's the commandments from God.
We shall have no other god.
What is it?
[dramatic music playing]
This one speaks of the prophecy.
It is better for you to abide
in the hall of the pagan king
than the house
of false prophets in Israel.
Will you remain in Jerusalem?
Yahweh called me
to be an iron pillar
in the bronze war
against our own people.
And, King,
you will be a pillar in Babylon.
[wind gusting]
[gasps softly]
[thunder rumbling]
Judgment on our house
has already begun.
[Mysterious Man] Susanna sewed
the holy word of the Lord
inside the tunics
of the young men.
It's time.
[Mysterious Man] The devout
exiles treasured the scriptures
while the Babylonians lusted
after Solomon's gold.
He took the best artisans,
architects, scholars,
the wisest and most promising
of all of Judah.
His vision was to create
a kingdom on earth...
where nothing was impossible.
[dramatic music playing]
[sword unsheathes]
[both grunt]
Mercy.
Show mercy.
[whimpers]
Beg, spare my life.
Bind him.
There is only one road
to Babylon from Jerusalem.
Bandits.
Jackals.
The heat.
And through the passes...
lions.
[tense music playing]
[dramatic music playing]
[chains rattling]
[man] Get up, brother.
Stay strong.
[guard] Come on, exiles.
Keep moving.
Catch up,
or you will be left behind.
[lion growls]
Keep moving.
We have to make it to camp.
Hey!
Hey! Stop!
Exile!
Stop!
I am going to find you, exile.
What?
-[lion roars]
-[guard screams]
[suspenseful music playing]
[whimpers]
Oh, no.
[lion snarls]
[roars]
[growling]
[lions roaring]
[Ashpenaz]
Don't bury him too deep.
Perhaps it will help
keep the wild animals away.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Unchain them.
-[Ashpenaz] Which ones, my lord?
-[Nebuchadnezzar] All of them.
Four days in the desert
with no food or water.
By now, the lions have instilled
enough fear in their hearts
to keep them close.
Any fool who would attempt
the journey
back to Jerusalem alone...
doesn't deserve Babylon.
[Ashpenaz] My lord.
Release all of them!
[sighs]
[dramatic music playing]
Come on, come on, go!
[Azariah]
Exiled to the same city
our ancestors
were scattered from.
That was a long time ago.
Part of me wondered
what the city was truly like.
[Azariah]
The Most High is above all
the kingdoms of the earth.
Yet, the men who rule them
seem to be drawn
to either Babylon or Jerusalem.
One is the chosen bride.
The other, the great prostitute.
[Azariah]
The pagan kings and queens
saw her wealth busted
after Jerusalem's greatness.
But a nation is more
than the will and the eyes
of the men behind it.
And our God sits enthroned
high above them all.
When the moment comes,
we must be ready to seize it.
[guards] Back in line!
[Daniel] Have you forgotten
why the earth
was destroyed by water?
The fallen ones.
They will be right at home
in Babylon.
[sighs]
[Daniel speaking
foreign language]
[in English] Our God,
protect us and guide our steps
so that we may return
to our land in peace.
Amen.
[crickets chirping]
[lion growling softly]
[gasps]
[eerie music playing]
[tense music playing]
[growling]
[suspenseful music playing]
[snarling]
[roaring]
[panting]
What has happened?
[Ashpenaz] Someone spared you
from a lion tonight, my lord.
Who?
Bring him to me.
What is your name, son of Judah?
Daniel.
"Daniel."
El is the name of your God, yes?
What does your name mean?
It means Elyon.
The Most High is my judge.
But the God of your new king
is Baal, not Elyon.
Baal must be your judge now.
I know who you serve,
but he is not my judge.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English] You have
an audacious heart, young Elyon.
Come.
Sit.
Please.
In this lifetime...
most of us...
are born into a name
without the freedom of choosing.
Many others have names
thrust upon them
by their fates.
And then there are
a precious few
who make names for themselves
by their own action.
In Babylon,
a name like yours will not do.
To live in Babylon
is to be of Babylon.
I will answer to any name
the King of Babylon gives me.
But you must know
that the God I serve
will not allow me
to follow or sacrifice
to any other gods besides him.
Audacious.
Audacious.
You say this before the ruler
who has taken the head
off your king.
Who has marched away
with the priests
and the articles of faith
from your temple.
Was it not
your prophet who said,
"I will put an iron yoke
"around the neck of your nation,
and you will serve a king"?
"I will also give him control
over the wild animals."
[Daniel]
I know the prophecy, yes.
How did you kill the lion?
I used your guard's spear.
The prophecy is beginning
to unfold, Your Majesty.
But the true prophet can only
speak the words of Elyon.
So it was not
the prophet who spoke.
It was the Most High.
In Babylon, shazzar
is a protector of the king.
If you have tamed lions,
you have fulfilled that duty.
You will call me Shazzar.
You have dominion
over the animals.
So I will name you for Baal.
Also...
Lord of the Earth.
Ashpenaz...
bring Belteshazzar
fresh provisions.
From now on, he travels with us.
[dramatic music playing]
Human sacrifice.
[dramatic music continues]
[Ayana] Susanna, this way.
Where are they taking us?
To the gardens.
To tend them?
[Ayana] No, my lady.
You will live in the king's
court with your own people.
[Ashpenaz]
You have been selected
because you are the wisest
and the most talented.
Royal nobles without any defect.
As is the custom for anyone
who serves the King of Babylon,
you serve the king well
and you'll be treated
like one of his own sons.
As members of the royal court,
your daily provisions
will come from the king's table.
You will not want for anything,
and you will have the ears
of his eminence.
And to join
His Majesty's services...
we will remove your temptations.
You will have to sacrifice
your body
as I have.
And become a eunuch.
And once you've done that,
you'll be fit...
to serve the king
of the universe...
as a magi.
Hazim?
[Hazim] You have 10 days
to sate all your pleasures.
Spend your days,
spend your nights
with the magicians' harem.
Then we will remove your manhood
and you will be established
as a member
of the magi council forever.
[Zaid] After you heal,
you will be advisors
to the king.
And at his table,
we eat the richest meat
and drink the finest wine
in Babylon.
All for the power and glory
of King Nebuchadnezzar,
the magnificent.
[Hazim] Follow me.
[Middle Eastern
dance music playing]
Please, no.
Relax.
We have never defiled ourselves
according to our own laws
at any point in our lives.
We cannot compromise ourselves
eating meat sacrificed to idols
or sinning against God
and these women.
[Ashpenaz]
Choice falls upon the man.
You can say yes to the king,
you can refuse,
and you'll never have
an audience ever again with him.
If you refuse...
you'll be sent to exile
encampment
to live with your own people.
If you may test
your servants in this,
allow us to eat
only the food and drink
customary for us
and not defile ourselves
like the other men here.
[Ashpenaz] I fear my lord the
king speaks very highly of you.
He expects you
to join his council.
But if he says you four men
look worse than the others,
he will have my head
because of you?
If we defile ourselves here,
we'll be of no use to the king.
If the king indeed
does want us in his service,
allow us to pray
for increased strength
rather than spend it
like the rest of the men here.
We will surpass the others
in 10 days' time.
If not, we'll do
whatever you require of us.
Very well.
But if you fall behind
the other men, Belteshazzar,
I'll have no choice
but to intervene.
So be it.
[calming music playing]
Shalom.
[Susanna] Shalom.
You look troubled.
[Daniel]
I've been up all night praying.
In the end, my prayers
turn to you and Jeremiah.
Is it well with you?
Daniel, I know it is required
of the men
who enter the service
of the magi.
I prayed for you
last night as well.
My heart grieves
for our people, Susanna.
Not all are strong
in the face of temptation.
Why are you here?
If you hear from Jeremiah,
send for me.
We will not survive
without every word
that Elyon speaks to him.
From now on,
I will bring his words
to the people
in the king's court.
Can you find a way to bring it
to the rest of our people?
[Daniel] We shall not
defile ourselves here.
This food...
it has not been blessed.
The king himself
sent you all of this.
The king doesn't give favors
very easily, you see.
He recognizes your authority.
But tell me one thing.
Why do you always offend
our king and our god?
Huh? Why?
You have great potential,
Belteshazzar.
But your stubbornness...
Your stubbornness
will be your undoing.
The actions of the man
prove his worth,
not the food on his table.
Very well.
To the scales!
Measure Belteshazzar.
[man] It must be imbalanced.
[Ashpenaz] What do you mean?
[man] His weight shows
an increase of 500 shekels.
[snaps fingers]
Shadrach!
[man] They have gained more
than all the others.
Come with me.
[dramatic music playing]
You refuse the food
from my table.
You reject our gods.
How do you explain what has
happened in the last 10 days?
Our God's ways
are not all known to man.
Where is this...
invisible God of yours?
He's with us.
If I call upon you,
then I will be calling upon
your God as well.
Our God cannot be conjured
or controlled.
Then what good is he?
If this God you speak of
has your soul,
then I will have your bodies.
I accept you into my service.
Only one
small step remains.
[in foreign language]
[gentle music playing]
[wind gusting]
[dramatic music playing]
[screaming]
[gasps]
[breathing heavily]
[gasping]
[slurps]
Bring me all the wise men
in Babylon.
At this hour, my lord?
Bring them to me!
[panting]
[murmuring in foreign language]
My king...
what troubles you?
Terrible dream.
Night vision.
Unsettling.
Awe-inspiring.
I must know
what it means at once.
What did you see?
I will interpret.
Yes, of course,
you will tell me what it means.
But first, you must
tell me what I saw.
[Hazim]
You mean what you dreamt?
The thing is gone from me.
Help me...
to remember it.
That's impossible, my lord.
The king asks of his men
something only gods can perform.
Impossible?
Hazim!
My father trusted your counsel.
But I am not Nabopolassar.
Now you must prove your worth.
Earn your keep,
as must all of the magi.
Please pass on my decree.
If the sorcerers and astrologers
cannot remind me of my dream,
they will burn in the furnace.
[screams]
[screaming]
[dramatic music playing]
[door opens]
My brothers.
We need to pray
like our lives depend on it.
So it's like any other day.
The king has an order against
all the wise men of Babylon.
[Azariah] That pretty well
leaves us off the list.
Death.
For what?
The king had a dream,
but the magi
could not interpret it.
Did the great Belteshazzar not
know the interpretation either?
He would not reveal the details
of the dream itself.
So we do not know the dream,
but must interpret it.
Yes.
Or be put to death.
Yes.
We must plead with the Lord
to reveal this mystery.
As I was asleep last night,
I saw part of the dream,
but I did not
understand the meaning.
[grunts]
Oh, Lord.
Our God.
Adonai, Adonai,
hear our cry.
For we...
we are the people
called by your name.
All power in heaven
and on the earth belong to you.
By your hand,
you made the earth
and set in place
the age-old foundations.
No creature great or small
compares to you.
The sea is yours,
for you made it.
The mountains and the hills
break forth for you.
All the trees in the field
clap their hands.
Shema Adonai!
As men made in your image...
we look to you.
We do not look to idols
or images of men.
We look to you, Lord...
[sobbing]
...for you are the maker
of heaven and earth.
The riches of the earth
are in your hands, Lord.
You give to all who ask of you.
For the silver and gold,
they-- They are yours.
Even the kings of the earth
long for them.
And you...
you give them
to whomever you please.
Oh, Lord, you open
your righteous right hand
and you satisfy the desires
of every living thing.
Oh, Lord.
Oh, Lord.
Oh...
We lift up our eyes
to the mountains.
Where does our help come from?
We worship you alone.
You reveal deep
and hidden things.
Did you see something?
No.
[grunts]
I saw everything.
[Azariah whimpering]
That was quick.
God knows we do not
have much time.
[laughs]
[laughs]
Daniel.
The king says your time is up.
[drums beating]
[yelling]
Wait!
What is it?
If it pleases the king,
I present Belteshazzar.
He claims to know
the meaning of your dream.
My dream?
My dream. My dream.
My...
dream.
My dream.
My dream. My dream.
My dream. My dream.
My dream.
Belteshazzar...
are you able to remember
my dream for me
and to give me the meaning?
The thing...
is quite gone from me, you see.
No one on earth
can explain to the king
the mystery he has asked about.
But there is a god in heaven
who reveals mysteries.
The revealer of mysteries
has shown the king
what will happen
in days to come.
This mystery has been
revealed to me,
not because I am wiser
than anyone else,
but so that Your Majesty
may know the interpretation
and understand what you saw
laying in your bed.
Your Majesty looked.
And there before you
stood a large statue.
An extravagant, amazing statue,
awesome in appearance.
The head of the structure
was made of pure gold.
As you were looking,
a rock was cut out
but not with human hands.
It struck the image on its feet
and shattered the statue
into pieces.
Then the entire statue
dissolved into powder
and blew away.
The rock... the rock...
turned into a huge mountain
and filled the entire world.
This was your dream.
Daniel.
Elyon.
[Daniel] Yes.
This is my dream.
That is exactly what I saw.
This night vision moved me
like that great mountain
shook me hard.
But how did you...
How are you able
to see inside my...
How?
Now we will interpret
its meaning.
Ah, yes, yes. You are all
welcome to my home and heart.
Please.
Tell me the truth.
Hide nothing from me.
Your Majesty,
you are the king of kings.
God has given you power,
dominion and great glory.
You reign over all of mankind.
Over all the animals,
even the birds in the sky.
Wherever they live,
you rule over them all.
You are the head of gold.
After you, my king,
another kingdom will rise.
But one not as great as yours.
And then a third kingdom.
As in the dream, one of bronze.
It shall rule
over all the earth.
There will be a fourth kingdom,
as strong as iron.
As iron breaks things to pieces,
it will crush and break
all the others.
What...
was the rock?
In the time of those kings,
the God of heaven
will create a kingdom
that will never be destroyed.
It will crush
all the others to nothing.
But this...
this kingdom
will remain forever.
An everlasting kingdom?
Yes, my king.
A kingdom that shall never
be destroyed.
One ruled by a king that is not
merely from this world.
A god king?
What am I to do?
Will this god king
come from my lineage?
What part am I to play? Tell me.
Great seer of wonders.
Interpreter of dreams.
My prophet Daniel.
Tell me what happens next.
The Most High has shown the king
what will happen in the future.
The dream is true,
and its interpretation
can be trusted.
Are there any wise men
as great as these
in all of Babylon?
Glory.
Glory, glory be yours.
But...
Glory, glory, glory.
We shall bring gifts
from the treasury
and frankincense to be
offered up to this true prophet.
A real man of God
for revealing this mystery.
Surely your God must be
the Lord of kings
and the great revealer
of mysteries.
Hear me.
I give Daniel...
complete authority
over the entire
province of Babylon.
As you are the reason
these men now live,
you will oversee
all of the magi.
I give you my promise.
If you say the word,
it will be done.
Release them.
Release them all.
And prepare seals for Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego.
I appoint them
as my chief administrators.
Ayah.
Ayah.
Ayah, ayah, ayah.
As you wish.
As you wish.
And now,
my audacious heart.
Let us together,
you and I,
create a most magnificent future
while we make history.
You...
will be my architect.
Build...
to me...
a monument.
Make me a statue
worthy of our dream.
Yes, my king.
[sighs]
Ashpenaz.
See to Daniel's request.
Have these men released.
And make it known
throughout the kingdom.
One of the exiles from Judah.
The chosen one.
[in foreign language]
[in English] Shall be placed
at the right hand of the king.
[in foreign language]
[dramatic music playing]
This is a day
that will be written in stone.
Is it close?
Good things take time.
[dramatic music playing]
Here I am.
What do you have for me?
We present to you
the first image of your statue.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Okay.
[speaking foreign language]
Hmm.
How big will it be?
[Meshach] Twenty cubits.
Meshach.
Twenty cubits.
A bit small, don't you think?
Shadrach.
[Shadrach] Perhaps 30?
Thirty cubits.
Bigger.
As big as you wish for it to be,
my king.
I wish big.
Big.
As big as a mountain.
No.
Bigger.
Hmm?
And what is this coloration
here, here and here?
As it was in the vision,
the feet are made of iron,
the legs of bronze,
the chest of silver
and the head of pure gold
to represent you, my king.
[Nebuchadnezzar speaking
foreign language]
Hmm.
[in English] It is good...
Daniel.
But when you complete this,
cover the entire statue again.
Your Majesty?
With pure gold.
Where would we find
that much gold?
The quantity
would need to be great, no?
Refine the gold
from your Solomon's Temple.
There is no purer source
than what your people
kept in Jerusalem.
It shall be so, yes?
-Yes, my king.
-[chuckles] Yes.
[in foreign language]
[in English] Make it so.
Come, come.
We have much to do. Come.
[solemn music playing]
How many scrolls do we need?
Enough to distribute
to all the exiles.
How will we achieve this?
The plans have already
been revealed in my mind.
We will start with
a great cedar from Lebanon.
May I remind you,
we are in Babylon,
not in Lebanon.
We will transport it
as far as the water
will take it.
[men grunting rhythmically]
And then?
On land, we will use
two shifts of 50 men
to row it across the desert.
[men grunting and yelling]
When we set it
in the courtyard,
the artisans will carve it
into the likeness
of King Nebuchadnezzar.
He expects his likeness
to be crested in gold.
To please the king,
this image will need to be
the most spectacular
the world has ever seen.
We will need a forge hot enough
to purify Jerusalem's gold.
There is no such furnace yet
in Babylon.
Why are we participating
in the creation of an image
for a pagan king?
How is this any different
than what our ancestors
did in the desert?
[Hananiah] Yes.
When they worshiped
the image of Baal,
thousands died
because of it, Daniel!
[Daniel] If they ask you to bow,
will you bow?
Hmm?
You shall have no other gods
before me.
We will put
our faith to the test
before the entire kingdom.
Even for this magnificent image,
we will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will never bend a knee.
Put your faith in the Lord.
Is it close, Daniel?
It will melt the silver
and the bronze.
But it needs to be hotter
to melt the gold.
We are the magi, Hazim.
Since before
Babylon's stones were laid,
the kings have come to us
to read the stars,
to bind omens to the law.
It is through us
the throne breathes.
But now,
Daniel steals the breath
from our mouth.
And yet, he looks to Daniel.
To Daniel, who bows to no idol
and mocks our rites.
And he calls him
greater than us.
If we cannot
convince him to do this,
then we are nothing.
And nothing does not live long
in Babylon.
Welcome to the grand
magicians of Babylon.
[humming]
[yells]
[laughs]
What is on your mind?
The ceremony, my king.
The ceremony. The ceremony.
Come, sit, sit, sit.
Sit. Welcome.
The ceremony.
Well, what of it?
[Hazim] Your greatness,
I pray you make a proclamation
at tomorrow's ceremony.
Let every soul
bow to the great king
to honor...
and respect...
the destroyer of nations.
And if they should not bow
and prove themselves
unworthy to the king of kings,
then have them thrown
into the furnace
that forged your image.
Does this please you, my king?
Does it please me?
Does it please you?
[Hazim] Yes, my king.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Why?
Because you are destined
to be a great ruler, my king,
and anyone who does not
show you love
should be made an example of.
[sighs]
You know...
I have always...
considered destruction
to be a creative impulse.
I want to build upon
what we have broken
and brought down.
Upwards.
Towers and temples up.
Soaring statues of gold
and gardens in the clouds, up.
Up. Always up.
Climbing cities in the sky.
Up.
There are angels
in the architecture.
Up.
Up.
Daniel is my angel.
He will help me.
With him, I am well-pleased.
He pleases me.
My people will celebrate
this dawning of a new age.
They will bow down to my statue
as a show of loyalty and duty
to their one
true
-king.
-[Zaid] Then we have prepared
the order for ceremony.
[Nebuchadnezzar]
Aye-ah, excellent.
They have prepared my order.
[Hazim] If anyone should resist,
they should be put to death.
They burn in the furnace.
That usually sways them.
[Hazim] Your seal, my lord.
Mm.
Look.
[herald]
Tomorrow, all will gather.
All will bend the knee
for one man,
to honor the king.
Tomorrow.
All will gather.
All will bend the knee
to honor the king.
[Daniel] Tomorrow, if you stand,
it will likely be the last time.
Why would God put our faith
to the test so many times?
Make us responsible
for the image that we are
now called to bow to,
and then abandon us
at this moment of decision?
Do we really have a choice?
If it was easy,
we would not be the ones here.
Hmm.
Oh, no.
It would be three Levites
and a Philistine.
[Daniel] God does not put you
through the fire to test you.
He puts you through to refine
you, purer than gold.
He makes you test your faith,
to strengthen your own heart.
[Jeremiah] When you cry out,
God will hear you.
Oh, Mishael.
Bind the Word across your heart.
Fasten it around your neck.
[dramatic music playing]
Ha.
Hananiah.
Teach them the words
of this book.
Help them understand it.
You have my word.
Azariah, show them
how to stand up,
even under the power
of the oppressor.
Daniel.
Teach them how to pray...
and to not be afraid.
The Word of God
will watch over our people.
[dramatic music continues]
When you wake in a foreign land,
it will speak to you.
Tomorrow, if you stand...
you stand for the truth.
Take rest, my brothers.
I shall be with you
when the sun rises.
[Nebuchadnezzar]
Tomorrow will be...
the dawning of a new age.
The birth of a new
Babylonian empire.
The time has come.
It will be a day the entire
world will remember.
A time for you to stand
for truth, my king.
Am I finally your king?
Of course.
[in foreign language]
Ah, you speak Akkadian now.
[laughs]
Magnificent.
You don't cease to amaze.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English] Beloved.
Am I beloved by you?
I will ever be at your service,
Your Majesty.
Indeed.
Indeed.
To be beloved...
is everything and all there is.
I have always loved twilight.
Like the world is a prayer.
Dwelling in hope.
Possibility.
My father and I would often come
and sit here together.
And listen.
Do you hear?
You have done well.
[speaking foreign language]
You have yet to see what
we have crafted, Your Highness.
I trust you will be pleased.
My architect.
My angel.
My Daniel.
I only wish
my father could be here.
To see.
He was beloved by all,
but none so much as me.
I would have willingly
given my life for his.
You have described exactly
my love for Elohim,
my heavenly father.
I am completely devoted
and bound by faith to him.
And that is everything
and all there ever was.
Teach me.
Teach me to learn
the ways of your God.
I wish to know
what true faith is.
I want to be beloved
by all in this way.
The Most High himself
chooses us when we are ready.
Ready? I'm always ready.
Ready for what?
To surrender all you are
and everything you have
for the faithful service of Him.
Surrender? Me? Never.
Your will is too strong and your
might is blinded by your heart.
Ay-ya!
Forgive me, my king. I...
speak too much.
May the truth shine its light
on us all tomorrow.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
What truth?
What do you mean?
Please stay.
Come.
Go on.
I'm listening.
[Daniel]
Have you heard from Jeremiah?
I have heard that my brother
is working on a message
for all the exiles.
Another word from Jeremiah.
Part of me is afraid to hear it.
Daniel, you have risen
to second in the kingdom.
Reality is far stranger
than any dream.
What do you mean?
I am troubled
by what tomorrow may bring.
[gasps] I have never heard
Daniel of Judah
speaking of his fears before.
Perhaps because
I have never spoken them.
When we interpreted
the king's dreams,
he spared our lives.
The king even recognized Yahweh
as the great God.
[Susanna] Hmm.
We all heard that.
But tomorrow,
we unveil his golden image.
Spectacular in appearance,
and every exile
and soul in Babylon
will be compelled to bow down
and worship him.
What will you do?
I will be seated
next to the king.
If I don't see you again--
Did God bring His people
all the way here
just to abandon us to death?
Did Elyon place Daniel,
son of David,
at the right hand of the king
to be turned away
and forgotten now?
Will you pray with me?
Give ear our God and hear.
Open your eyes and see
the desolate place
in which we live.
For your own sake,
look with favor on our despair.
Oh, Yahweh!
Righteousness belongs to you
and to us belongs shame.
You are the God
who removes kings
and sets up the throne.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English]
Look upon your people once more.
For your name's sake...
do not delay.
[Ayana] Susanna.
I don't mean
to interrupt your prayers,
but there's someone here
to see you.
[Susanna] At this hour?
Oh, Habakkuk!
My brother.
Your timing is right.
Have you come alone?
No. Not alone, my brother.
I came with the Word
of the Lord.
Standing in the awe
of the Lord, praying.
That's when I looked up
and I saw God.
His glory filled the heaven,
and His presence
filled the earth.
His splendor was like...
It was like sunrise.
He stood
and the earth shook.
But He...
He passed on forever.
The earth will be filled...
with the knowledge
of the Lord's glory.
As the water covers the sea.
[solemn music playing]
[Hazim] What a beautiful day
we've been given
to honor the king's decree.
I will take great pleasure
in seeing you bow to our god.
[dramatic music playing]
The earth will be filled
with the knowledge
of the glory of the Lord.
Who are those insolent children?
Those are my appointees
from Judah, Your Majesty.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
I remind the king that any man
who refused to bow, mighty king,
must be put to death.
These men are under
your control, Belteshazzar.
Surprising.
Bring them to me.
[slurps]
Young men from Judah!
The king summons you.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Is it true
that you deliberately refuse
to worship my golden image?
[sighs]
A show of disrespect
is a grave offense.
What is the meaning of this?
Belteshazzar...
what message are they sending?
When you hear the music again,
it would be prudent of you
to honor your king
by bowing down to his statue.
As an expression
of loyalty and obedience,
this would please me.
So, it is my request.
My command.
If you so choose
not to obey your king,
you will be thrown
into the blazing furnace.
Can your God rescue you then
from my hand?
King Nebuchadnezzar...
we do not need to defend
ourselves before you.
If we are thrown
into the blazing fire,
the God we serve
is able to deliver us from it.
And He certainly will.
Even if He does not,
we want you to know,
Your Majesty,
we will not serve your gods...
or worship the golden image.
I have seen a man's heart melt
in the battlefield
when a dagger
is placed at his throat.
Consider this the dagger.
Oh, come now!
[laughs]
Come now!
Even Belteshazzar, I am certain,
would willingly bow down
to my statue.
He built the thing
for the god's sake.
Why not you,
his brothers in faith?
Why not?
We are the children of God.
We do not worship false idols.
What makes you so special?
Very well.
Read the decree.
Arise!
Nation and people
of every language!
This is what
you're commanded to do!
As soon as you hear the music,
you must fall down
and worship the image of gold
that King Nebuchadnezzar
has set up.
Whoever does not fall down
and worship...
will be thrown alive
into the furnace.
[dramatic music playing]
Wait.
Speak up, young man.
We fear you alone
and seek your presence.
[tense music playing]
[Nebuchadnezzar] Bow.
Ashpenaz...
bind them.
Heat up the furnace.
[dramatic music playing]
Please rescue us
with one of your miracles.
Bring glory to your name.
We are stood for Him.
We fear no evil,
for thou art with us.
Do not withhold your mercy.
Keep your promise
to Abraham,
whom you loved.
To Isaac, your servant.
And to Jacob,
the father of your
holy people in Israel.
[suspenseful music playing]
[screams]
[guards screaming]
You have refined your servants
through the fire.
As they pass through the flames,
they will not be burned.
[dramatic music playing]
[dramatic music swelling]
What is this?
What is that I see?
Behold, Ashpenaz.
Ashpenaz, did we not...
Did we not place the three men
into the fire?
Yes, Your Majesty.
Three men went into the fire,
but now I see a fourth,
a fourth man.
No.
Three men went into the fire.
Impossible. My eyes deceive me.
[exhales]
[gasping and whimpering]
[praying in foreign language]
This fourth man...
He's walking around in the fire.
He's walking.
[laughs]
[crying]
Ashpenaz, this fourth man...
he looks like
a son of the gods.
[sweeping dramatic
music playing]
[gasps]
A son of the gods.
[muttering]
[shallow breathing]
We come.
I am coming.
[Nebuchadnezzar gasps]
[Daniel] My king.
Stand back, my king.
Stand back.
[gasps softly] But...
Shadrach.
Meshach.
Abednego.
Servants of the Most High God.
Your Savior. Come.
Come here. Come out.
[laughs]
[crying softly]
[Daniel] Oh, my God.
[laughing] Yes!
[dramatic music playing]
[whimpering]
Yes.
[in foreign language]
[dramatic music swelling]
[in English] My king is my God.
[sobbing]
My king is my God!
[sweeping dramatic
music playing]
[crying softly]
[Nebuchadnezzar]
These courageous men,
they have openly
defied my command.
They have surrendered
their lives
as a willing sacrifice.
Can any other god
save and deliver
like their one true God?
[dramatic music continues]
[gentle music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
This is what the Lord Almighty,
the God of Israel, says.
"To all those
I carried into exile
from Jerusalem to Babylon..."
"Build houses and settle down.
Plant gardens and eat
what they produce.
Increase in number.
Do not decrease."
[Mysterious Man] "When 70 years
are completed for Babylon,
I will come to you
and fulfill my good promise
to bring you back
to Jerusalem.
For I know the plans I have
for you,"
declares the Lord.
"Plans to prosper you.
And not harm you.
Plans to give you hope...
and a future.
Then you will call on me.
And come and pray to me.
And I will listen to you.
You will seek me
and find me.
When you seek me
with all your heart...
I will be found by you,"
declares the Lord.
"I'll restore your fortunes,
and I will gather you
from all the nations
and all the places
where I have driven you.
And I will bring you
back to the place
from which I sent you
into exile."
[shaky breathing]
"I will gather you
from all the nations and places
where I have banished you,"
declares the Lord.
"And I'll bring you
back to the place
from which I carried you
into exile."
It's time, Gaspar.
What became of the scroll?
[Mysterious Man]
As Daniel's magi,
we are charged
with protecting it,
along with the other treasures
received in the service
of King Nebuchadnezzar.
For there is no treasure
on earth
or in heaven
greater than the Word
of the Lord.
[gentle music playing]
Where is your home, young man?
Bethlehem.
What a coincidence.
We are on our way there
to bring a gift to the king.
We will take you home.
[dramatic music playing]
[dramatic music continues]
[rock music playing]
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
But will you walk
Through fire?
I won't be silent
Nothing's gonna stop me
Holy Spirit got me
Won this war
I'm gonna fight it
Even if it costs me
Even if my voice shakes
You'll hear me roar
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Overcoming
Standing for truth
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
Can you hear it coming?
Tell me when
The lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear this crown?
Hell is gonna
Take us higher
But will you
Walk through fire?
Tell me
When the lights go out
Who's gonna
Wear the crown?
Hell is gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We're gonna
Take this higher
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
But will you
Walk through fire?
I see it written in the sky
With a permanent glow
And I ain't ever gonna quit
'Cause I ain't in it for show
And I'll be carrying the
Truth like I do in this song
'Cause there's a power
In the Word
That they can't ever ignore
You're gonna feel the fury
Coming late
It's sure to happen
When we start to pray
Death can't even hold us
In the grave
Some people callin' it gospel
We just callin' it faith
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Holy winds coming
It's about to blow through
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
Tell me when
The lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear this crown?
Heaven's gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Tell me
When the lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear the crown?
Heaven's gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
We're gonna
Take this higher
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
But will you walk
Through fire?
But will you walk
Through fire?
My king.
Will you speak against
your own decree?
We will throw them
into the furnace now.
They are beyond saving.
Take them.
No, wait, wait.
I have a better idea.
[both gasp]
[lions growling]
[roaring]
[low-key music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
Long ago, on this very road,
the Lord allowed
his people, Judah,
to be taken into exile
in Babylon.
But there were a group
of fine men
who started something
magnificent.
They were pure of heart.
They were steadfast.
And they followed the Lord
with all their might.
The Israelites had turned
their backs on God,
and their king
refused to listen
to the warnings
of the prophet Jeremiah.
There was one man who led his
people to stand for the truth.
[dramatic music playing]
[Azariah] Daniel.
Jeremiah's sister is calling
for you in the garden.
You sent for me.
What is it?
I want to show you something.
[birds tweeting]
[sniffs]
It's the first bloom.
It's beautiful.
Your garden
is always breathtaking.
It's hard to imagine you won't
be able to tend to it for long.
-Last night...
-Another dream?
One that made me unsure
of God's plan.
Tell me what you saw.
[thunder rumbling]
[Mysterious Man] Daniel
was from the house of Judah,
along with Hananiah,
Mishael, and Azariah,
who you know as Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego.
They all looked up
to the prophet Jeremiah.
The king finally acknowledged
the voice of God's prophet.
A lion has come out of his lair.
[Mysterious Man]
Jeremiah pleaded
with Jehoiakim, the king.
A destroyer of nations
has set out.
He has left his home
to pillage your land.
So cry aloud!
The fierce anger of our God
has not turned away.
[Mysterious Man] His warning was
that the wickedness of Judah
would lead to destruction
at the hand of the Babylonians.
You call this
the word of the Lord?
[Mysterious Man]
But King Jehoiachin despised
the true prophet...
and God's word.
[dramatic music playing]
Then the word of the Lord
came to Jeremiah.
[in foreign language]
[wood scraping]
[Mysterious Man] The Lord said,
"Make a yoke out of straps
and crossbars
and put it on your neck."
Jeremiah went to the palace
boldly before
the King of Israel.
Bow your neck under the yoke
of the King of Babylon.
Serve him...
and you will live.
"I will hand all your countries
over to my servant
Nebuchadnezzar."
Oh, Marduk.
Forge me into an instrument
of your great power.
Help me to grow
my father's dynasty
and strengthen
your dominion over the earth.
Bless me with good fortune,
that I might bring glory
to your great name...
and to mine.
Brother.
Mishael.
What are you thinking?
You know, Joshua was courageous.
Solomon was wise.
David feared God.
Moses trusted the Lord.
But Job.
Job never doubted.
What about Samson?
[laughs] Mishael.
We could do with another Samson.
Maybe I should grow my hair
like Samson.
Ah, but Samson's strength
was never in his hair.
It was in our God.
[Mishael] Who was the fastest?
Well, Elijah
did outrun the chariots.
Well, at least I can outrun you.
[laughs]
Come back here, you!
[grunts]
[ominous music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
Despite the warning
from the Lord's true prophet,
the king was not ready
for the assault
from the Babylonians.
[horns blowing]
Babylonians at the gates!
[horns continue blowing]
[dramatic music playing]
Hide the golden articles!
Save yourselves!
Flee for your life!
[Mysterious Man]
They stormed Jerusalem
with little resistance,
taking whatever they wanted.
[yelling]
[horse whinnies]
[yells]
-[swords clashing]
-[screaming]
[tense music playing]
[screams fading]
[Nebuchadnezzar] Ashpenaz.
Find me the nobles and the women
worthy of my father's house.
Let's go!
[all yelling]
[Jeremiah] How bitter it is.
How it pierces the heart.
[somber music playing]
I writhe in pain. My...
heart is pounding within me.
[baby crying]
[screaming]
I have heard the battle cry.
I have heard
the sound of the trumpet.
[man screams]
Disaster follows disaster.
The whole land lies in ruins.
In an instant...
my beautiful city is destroyed.
Surrender...
and you will live!
[in foreign language]
[in English] Where is your king?
I am eager to meet him.
Where is he?!
Making for the tunnels.
[yells]
-[grunts]
-[coughs and gasps]
Did you not hear?
I, Nab-kudurri-uur,
am come as your gods appointed.
Like your great emancipator,
Moses,
I have been called to liberate
these people here of Judah,
the Israelites,
and deliver them out of bondage
into the promised land
of Babylon.
They are my people now.
You are my people now.
So...
let my people go.
Yes?
[laughs]
Yes.
We will go.
[in foreign language]
[grunts]
[dramatic music playing]
Is this how you treat
the Lord's anointed?
[Jehoiakim coughing]
[horse whinnies]
For the glory of the gods...
you are welcome.
Hyah!
[dour music playing]
[Susanna] Daniel.
Daniel, is this it?
This is only the beginning.
[horses whinnying]
[coughing]
[Nebuchadnezzar]
This was a great city.
Soon, it will be
so much greater.
Three long years...
three long years
I strive to be dutiful.
I did everything to please you.
Well, it seems you have
displeased somebody.
And you have been pleasing
the Egyptians much more than me.
[wheezing]
You must now pay the price
of consequence.
Your own prophets told you
to come willingly to Babylon,
but you refuse.
[Jehoiakim sobbing]
You have been weighed
and measured...
and found wanting.
I have come to exact a judgment
on you for your iniquities.
We had an agreement as kings!
You gave me your word!
Please.
There can be no treaties
between men and lions.
We are bound by fate.
You and I.
I would say, go to your god.
[whimpers]
But he doesn't want you.
[dramatic music playing]
[yells]
Daniel was only a young man
when Nebuchadnezzar
raided Jerusalem.
Yes?
I need to speak with him
right away.
[in foreign language]
[in English]
You are leaving tomorrow.
We will be gone a long time.
What do you need?
Can you bring me
to the Hall of the Scribes?
[Jeremiah speaks
foreign language]
[in English] We shall never
bow down to them, brother.
Yes. Yes, this one.
Thank you.
Did you find, Mishael?
Moses.
[whimpering]
Daniel?
-Moses.
-What does it say?
It's the commandments from God.
We shall have no other god.
What is it?
[dramatic music playing]
This one speaks of the prophecy.
It is better for you to abide
in the hall of the pagan king
than the house
of false prophets in Israel.
Will you remain in Jerusalem?
Yahweh called me
to be an iron pillar
in the bronze war
against our own people.
And, King,
you will be a pillar in Babylon.
[wind gusting]
[gasps softly]
[thunder rumbling]
Judgment on our house
has already begun.
[Mysterious Man] Susanna sewed
the holy word of the Lord
inside the tunics
of the young men.
It's time.
[Mysterious Man] The devout
exiles treasured the scriptures
while the Babylonians lusted
after Solomon's gold.
He took the best artisans,
architects, scholars,
the wisest and most promising
of all of Judah.
His vision was to create
a kingdom on earth...
where nothing was impossible.
[dramatic music playing]
[sword unsheathes]
[both grunt]
Mercy.
Show mercy.
[whimpers]
Beg, spare my life.
Bind him.
There is only one road
to Babylon from Jerusalem.
Bandits.
Jackals.
The heat.
And through the passes...
lions.
[tense music playing]
[dramatic music playing]
[chains rattling]
[man] Get up, brother.
Stay strong.
[guard] Come on, exiles.
Keep moving.
Catch up,
or you will be left behind.
[lion growls]
Keep moving.
We have to make it to camp.
Hey!
Hey! Stop!
Exile!
Stop!
I am going to find you, exile.
What?
-[lion roars]
-[guard screams]
[suspenseful music playing]
[whimpers]
Oh, no.
[lion snarls]
[roars]
[growling]
[lions roaring]
[Ashpenaz]
Don't bury him too deep.
Perhaps it will help
keep the wild animals away.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Unchain them.
-[Ashpenaz] Which ones, my lord?
-[Nebuchadnezzar] All of them.
Four days in the desert
with no food or water.
By now, the lions have instilled
enough fear in their hearts
to keep them close.
Any fool who would attempt
the journey
back to Jerusalem alone...
doesn't deserve Babylon.
[Ashpenaz] My lord.
Release all of them!
[sighs]
[dramatic music playing]
Come on, come on, go!
[Azariah]
Exiled to the same city
our ancestors
were scattered from.
That was a long time ago.
Part of me wondered
what the city was truly like.
[Azariah]
The Most High is above all
the kingdoms of the earth.
Yet, the men who rule them
seem to be drawn
to either Babylon or Jerusalem.
One is the chosen bride.
The other, the great prostitute.
[Azariah]
The pagan kings and queens
saw her wealth busted
after Jerusalem's greatness.
But a nation is more
than the will and the eyes
of the men behind it.
And our God sits enthroned
high above them all.
When the moment comes,
we must be ready to seize it.
[guards] Back in line!
[Daniel] Have you forgotten
why the earth
was destroyed by water?
The fallen ones.
They will be right at home
in Babylon.
[sighs]
[Daniel speaking
foreign language]
[in English] Our God,
protect us and guide our steps
so that we may return
to our land in peace.
Amen.
[crickets chirping]
[lion growling softly]
[gasps]
[eerie music playing]
[tense music playing]
[growling]
[suspenseful music playing]
[snarling]
[roaring]
[panting]
What has happened?
[Ashpenaz] Someone spared you
from a lion tonight, my lord.
Who?
Bring him to me.
What is your name, son of Judah?
Daniel.
"Daniel."
El is the name of your God, yes?
What does your name mean?
It means Elyon.
The Most High is my judge.
But the God of your new king
is Baal, not Elyon.
Baal must be your judge now.
I know who you serve,
but he is not my judge.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English] You have
an audacious heart, young Elyon.
Come.
Sit.
Please.
In this lifetime...
most of us...
are born into a name
without the freedom of choosing.
Many others have names
thrust upon them
by their fates.
And then there are
a precious few
who make names for themselves
by their own action.
In Babylon,
a name like yours will not do.
To live in Babylon
is to be of Babylon.
I will answer to any name
the King of Babylon gives me.
But you must know
that the God I serve
will not allow me
to follow or sacrifice
to any other gods besides him.
Audacious.
Audacious.
You say this before the ruler
who has taken the head
off your king.
Who has marched away
with the priests
and the articles of faith
from your temple.
Was it not
your prophet who said,
"I will put an iron yoke
"around the neck of your nation,
and you will serve a king"?
"I will also give him control
over the wild animals."
[Daniel]
I know the prophecy, yes.
How did you kill the lion?
I used your guard's spear.
The prophecy is beginning
to unfold, Your Majesty.
But the true prophet can only
speak the words of Elyon.
So it was not
the prophet who spoke.
It was the Most High.
In Babylon, shazzar
is a protector of the king.
If you have tamed lions,
you have fulfilled that duty.
You will call me Shazzar.
You have dominion
over the animals.
So I will name you for Baal.
Also...
Lord of the Earth.
Ashpenaz...
bring Belteshazzar
fresh provisions.
From now on, he travels with us.
[dramatic music playing]
Human sacrifice.
[dramatic music continues]
[Ayana] Susanna, this way.
Where are they taking us?
To the gardens.
To tend them?
[Ayana] No, my lady.
You will live in the king's
court with your own people.
[Ashpenaz]
You have been selected
because you are the wisest
and the most talented.
Royal nobles without any defect.
As is the custom for anyone
who serves the King of Babylon,
you serve the king well
and you'll be treated
like one of his own sons.
As members of the royal court,
your daily provisions
will come from the king's table.
You will not want for anything,
and you will have the ears
of his eminence.
And to join
His Majesty's services...
we will remove your temptations.
You will have to sacrifice
your body
as I have.
And become a eunuch.
And once you've done that,
you'll be fit...
to serve the king
of the universe...
as a magi.
Hazim?
[Hazim] You have 10 days
to sate all your pleasures.
Spend your days,
spend your nights
with the magicians' harem.
Then we will remove your manhood
and you will be established
as a member
of the magi council forever.
[Zaid] After you heal,
you will be advisors
to the king.
And at his table,
we eat the richest meat
and drink the finest wine
in Babylon.
All for the power and glory
of King Nebuchadnezzar,
the magnificent.
[Hazim] Follow me.
[Middle Eastern
dance music playing]
Please, no.
Relax.
We have never defiled ourselves
according to our own laws
at any point in our lives.
We cannot compromise ourselves
eating meat sacrificed to idols
or sinning against God
and these women.
[Ashpenaz]
Choice falls upon the man.
You can say yes to the king,
you can refuse,
and you'll never have
an audience ever again with him.
If you refuse...
you'll be sent to exile
encampment
to live with your own people.
If you may test
your servants in this,
allow us to eat
only the food and drink
customary for us
and not defile ourselves
like the other men here.
[Ashpenaz] I fear my lord the
king speaks very highly of you.
He expects you
to join his council.
But if he says you four men
look worse than the others,
he will have my head
because of you?
If we defile ourselves here,
we'll be of no use to the king.
If the king indeed
does want us in his service,
allow us to pray
for increased strength
rather than spend it
like the rest of the men here.
We will surpass the others
in 10 days' time.
If not, we'll do
whatever you require of us.
Very well.
But if you fall behind
the other men, Belteshazzar,
I'll have no choice
but to intervene.
So be it.
[calming music playing]
Shalom.
[Susanna] Shalom.
You look troubled.
[Daniel]
I've been up all night praying.
In the end, my prayers
turn to you and Jeremiah.
Is it well with you?
Daniel, I know it is required
of the men
who enter the service
of the magi.
I prayed for you
last night as well.
My heart grieves
for our people, Susanna.
Not all are strong
in the face of temptation.
Why are you here?
If you hear from Jeremiah,
send for me.
We will not survive
without every word
that Elyon speaks to him.
From now on,
I will bring his words
to the people
in the king's court.
Can you find a way to bring it
to the rest of our people?
[Daniel] We shall not
defile ourselves here.
This food...
it has not been blessed.
The king himself
sent you all of this.
The king doesn't give favors
very easily, you see.
He recognizes your authority.
But tell me one thing.
Why do you always offend
our king and our god?
Huh? Why?
You have great potential,
Belteshazzar.
But your stubbornness...
Your stubbornness
will be your undoing.
The actions of the man
prove his worth,
not the food on his table.
Very well.
To the scales!
Measure Belteshazzar.
[man] It must be imbalanced.
[Ashpenaz] What do you mean?
[man] His weight shows
an increase of 500 shekels.
[snaps fingers]
Shadrach!
[man] They have gained more
than all the others.
Come with me.
[dramatic music playing]
You refuse the food
from my table.
You reject our gods.
How do you explain what has
happened in the last 10 days?
Our God's ways
are not all known to man.
Where is this...
invisible God of yours?
He's with us.
If I call upon you,
then I will be calling upon
your God as well.
Our God cannot be conjured
or controlled.
Then what good is he?
If this God you speak of
has your soul,
then I will have your bodies.
I accept you into my service.
Only one
small step remains.
[in foreign language]
[gentle music playing]
[wind gusting]
[dramatic music playing]
[screaming]
[gasps]
[breathing heavily]
[gasping]
[slurps]
Bring me all the wise men
in Babylon.
At this hour, my lord?
Bring them to me!
[panting]
[murmuring in foreign language]
My king...
what troubles you?
Terrible dream.
Night vision.
Unsettling.
Awe-inspiring.
I must know
what it means at once.
What did you see?
I will interpret.
Yes, of course,
you will tell me what it means.
But first, you must
tell me what I saw.
[Hazim]
You mean what you dreamt?
The thing is gone from me.
Help me...
to remember it.
That's impossible, my lord.
The king asks of his men
something only gods can perform.
Impossible?
Hazim!
My father trusted your counsel.
But I am not Nabopolassar.
Now you must prove your worth.
Earn your keep,
as must all of the magi.
Please pass on my decree.
If the sorcerers and astrologers
cannot remind me of my dream,
they will burn in the furnace.
[screams]
[screaming]
[dramatic music playing]
[door opens]
My brothers.
We need to pray
like our lives depend on it.
So it's like any other day.
The king has an order against
all the wise men of Babylon.
[Azariah] That pretty well
leaves us off the list.
Death.
For what?
The king had a dream,
but the magi
could not interpret it.
Did the great Belteshazzar not
know the interpretation either?
He would not reveal the details
of the dream itself.
So we do not know the dream,
but must interpret it.
Yes.
Or be put to death.
Yes.
We must plead with the Lord
to reveal this mystery.
As I was asleep last night,
I saw part of the dream,
but I did not
understand the meaning.
[grunts]
Oh, Lord.
Our God.
Adonai, Adonai,
hear our cry.
For we...
we are the people
called by your name.
All power in heaven
and on the earth belong to you.
By your hand,
you made the earth
and set in place
the age-old foundations.
No creature great or small
compares to you.
The sea is yours,
for you made it.
The mountains and the hills
break forth for you.
All the trees in the field
clap their hands.
Shema Adonai!
As men made in your image...
we look to you.
We do not look to idols
or images of men.
We look to you, Lord...
[sobbing]
...for you are the maker
of heaven and earth.
The riches of the earth
are in your hands, Lord.
You give to all who ask of you.
For the silver and gold,
they-- They are yours.
Even the kings of the earth
long for them.
And you...
you give them
to whomever you please.
Oh, Lord, you open
your righteous right hand
and you satisfy the desires
of every living thing.
Oh, Lord.
Oh, Lord.
Oh...
We lift up our eyes
to the mountains.
Where does our help come from?
We worship you alone.
You reveal deep
and hidden things.
Did you see something?
No.
[grunts]
I saw everything.
[Azariah whimpering]
That was quick.
God knows we do not
have much time.
[laughs]
[laughs]
Daniel.
The king says your time is up.
[drums beating]
[yelling]
Wait!
What is it?
If it pleases the king,
I present Belteshazzar.
He claims to know
the meaning of your dream.
My dream?
My dream. My dream.
My...
dream.
My dream.
My dream. My dream.
My dream. My dream.
My dream.
Belteshazzar...
are you able to remember
my dream for me
and to give me the meaning?
The thing...
is quite gone from me, you see.
No one on earth
can explain to the king
the mystery he has asked about.
But there is a god in heaven
who reveals mysteries.
The revealer of mysteries
has shown the king
what will happen
in days to come.
This mystery has been
revealed to me,
not because I am wiser
than anyone else,
but so that Your Majesty
may know the interpretation
and understand what you saw
laying in your bed.
Your Majesty looked.
And there before you
stood a large statue.
An extravagant, amazing statue,
awesome in appearance.
The head of the structure
was made of pure gold.
As you were looking,
a rock was cut out
but not with human hands.
It struck the image on its feet
and shattered the statue
into pieces.
Then the entire statue
dissolved into powder
and blew away.
The rock... the rock...
turned into a huge mountain
and filled the entire world.
This was your dream.
Daniel.
Elyon.
[Daniel] Yes.
This is my dream.
That is exactly what I saw.
This night vision moved me
like that great mountain
shook me hard.
But how did you...
How are you able
to see inside my...
How?
Now we will interpret
its meaning.
Ah, yes, yes. You are all
welcome to my home and heart.
Please.
Tell me the truth.
Hide nothing from me.
Your Majesty,
you are the king of kings.
God has given you power,
dominion and great glory.
You reign over all of mankind.
Over all the animals,
even the birds in the sky.
Wherever they live,
you rule over them all.
You are the head of gold.
After you, my king,
another kingdom will rise.
But one not as great as yours.
And then a third kingdom.
As in the dream, one of bronze.
It shall rule
over all the earth.
There will be a fourth kingdom,
as strong as iron.
As iron breaks things to pieces,
it will crush and break
all the others.
What...
was the rock?
In the time of those kings,
the God of heaven
will create a kingdom
that will never be destroyed.
It will crush
all the others to nothing.
But this...
this kingdom
will remain forever.
An everlasting kingdom?
Yes, my king.
A kingdom that shall never
be destroyed.
One ruled by a king that is not
merely from this world.
A god king?
What am I to do?
Will this god king
come from my lineage?
What part am I to play? Tell me.
Great seer of wonders.
Interpreter of dreams.
My prophet Daniel.
Tell me what happens next.
The Most High has shown the king
what will happen in the future.
The dream is true,
and its interpretation
can be trusted.
Are there any wise men
as great as these
in all of Babylon?
Glory.
Glory, glory be yours.
But...
Glory, glory, glory.
We shall bring gifts
from the treasury
and frankincense to be
offered up to this true prophet.
A real man of God
for revealing this mystery.
Surely your God must be
the Lord of kings
and the great revealer
of mysteries.
Hear me.
I give Daniel...
complete authority
over the entire
province of Babylon.
As you are the reason
these men now live,
you will oversee
all of the magi.
I give you my promise.
If you say the word,
it will be done.
Release them.
Release them all.
And prepare seals for Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego.
I appoint them
as my chief administrators.
Ayah.
Ayah.
Ayah, ayah, ayah.
As you wish.
As you wish.
And now,
my audacious heart.
Let us together,
you and I,
create a most magnificent future
while we make history.
You...
will be my architect.
Build...
to me...
a monument.
Make me a statue
worthy of our dream.
Yes, my king.
[sighs]
Ashpenaz.
See to Daniel's request.
Have these men released.
And make it known
throughout the kingdom.
One of the exiles from Judah.
The chosen one.
[in foreign language]
[in English] Shall be placed
at the right hand of the king.
[in foreign language]
[dramatic music playing]
This is a day
that will be written in stone.
Is it close?
Good things take time.
[dramatic music playing]
Here I am.
What do you have for me?
We present to you
the first image of your statue.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Okay.
[speaking foreign language]
Hmm.
How big will it be?
[Meshach] Twenty cubits.
Meshach.
Twenty cubits.
A bit small, don't you think?
Shadrach.
[Shadrach] Perhaps 30?
Thirty cubits.
Bigger.
As big as you wish for it to be,
my king.
I wish big.
Big.
As big as a mountain.
No.
Bigger.
Hmm?
And what is this coloration
here, here and here?
As it was in the vision,
the feet are made of iron,
the legs of bronze,
the chest of silver
and the head of pure gold
to represent you, my king.
[Nebuchadnezzar speaking
foreign language]
Hmm.
[in English] It is good...
Daniel.
But when you complete this,
cover the entire statue again.
Your Majesty?
With pure gold.
Where would we find
that much gold?
The quantity
would need to be great, no?
Refine the gold
from your Solomon's Temple.
There is no purer source
than what your people
kept in Jerusalem.
It shall be so, yes?
-Yes, my king.
-[chuckles] Yes.
[in foreign language]
[in English] Make it so.
Come, come.
We have much to do. Come.
[solemn music playing]
How many scrolls do we need?
Enough to distribute
to all the exiles.
How will we achieve this?
The plans have already
been revealed in my mind.
We will start with
a great cedar from Lebanon.
May I remind you,
we are in Babylon,
not in Lebanon.
We will transport it
as far as the water
will take it.
[men grunting rhythmically]
And then?
On land, we will use
two shifts of 50 men
to row it across the desert.
[men grunting and yelling]
When we set it
in the courtyard,
the artisans will carve it
into the likeness
of King Nebuchadnezzar.
He expects his likeness
to be crested in gold.
To please the king,
this image will need to be
the most spectacular
the world has ever seen.
We will need a forge hot enough
to purify Jerusalem's gold.
There is no such furnace yet
in Babylon.
Why are we participating
in the creation of an image
for a pagan king?
How is this any different
than what our ancestors
did in the desert?
[Hananiah] Yes.
When they worshiped
the image of Baal,
thousands died
because of it, Daniel!
[Daniel] If they ask you to bow,
will you bow?
Hmm?
You shall have no other gods
before me.
We will put
our faith to the test
before the entire kingdom.
Even for this magnificent image,
we will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will not bend a knee.
We will never bend a knee.
Put your faith in the Lord.
Is it close, Daniel?
It will melt the silver
and the bronze.
But it needs to be hotter
to melt the gold.
We are the magi, Hazim.
Since before
Babylon's stones were laid,
the kings have come to us
to read the stars,
to bind omens to the law.
It is through us
the throne breathes.
But now,
Daniel steals the breath
from our mouth.
And yet, he looks to Daniel.
To Daniel, who bows to no idol
and mocks our rites.
And he calls him
greater than us.
If we cannot
convince him to do this,
then we are nothing.
And nothing does not live long
in Babylon.
Welcome to the grand
magicians of Babylon.
[humming]
[yells]
[laughs]
What is on your mind?
The ceremony, my king.
The ceremony. The ceremony.
Come, sit, sit, sit.
Sit. Welcome.
The ceremony.
Well, what of it?
[Hazim] Your greatness,
I pray you make a proclamation
at tomorrow's ceremony.
Let every soul
bow to the great king
to honor...
and respect...
the destroyer of nations.
And if they should not bow
and prove themselves
unworthy to the king of kings,
then have them thrown
into the furnace
that forged your image.
Does this please you, my king?
Does it please me?
Does it please you?
[Hazim] Yes, my king.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Why?
Because you are destined
to be a great ruler, my king,
and anyone who does not
show you love
should be made an example of.
[sighs]
You know...
I have always...
considered destruction
to be a creative impulse.
I want to build upon
what we have broken
and brought down.
Upwards.
Towers and temples up.
Soaring statues of gold
and gardens in the clouds, up.
Up. Always up.
Climbing cities in the sky.
Up.
There are angels
in the architecture.
Up.
Up.
Daniel is my angel.
He will help me.
With him, I am well-pleased.
He pleases me.
My people will celebrate
this dawning of a new age.
They will bow down to my statue
as a show of loyalty and duty
to their one
true
-king.
-[Zaid] Then we have prepared
the order for ceremony.
[Nebuchadnezzar]
Aye-ah, excellent.
They have prepared my order.
[Hazim] If anyone should resist,
they should be put to death.
They burn in the furnace.
That usually sways them.
[Hazim] Your seal, my lord.
Mm.
Look.
[herald]
Tomorrow, all will gather.
All will bend the knee
for one man,
to honor the king.
Tomorrow.
All will gather.
All will bend the knee
to honor the king.
[Daniel] Tomorrow, if you stand,
it will likely be the last time.
Why would God put our faith
to the test so many times?
Make us responsible
for the image that we are
now called to bow to,
and then abandon us
at this moment of decision?
Do we really have a choice?
If it was easy,
we would not be the ones here.
Hmm.
Oh, no.
It would be three Levites
and a Philistine.
[Daniel] God does not put you
through the fire to test you.
He puts you through to refine
you, purer than gold.
He makes you test your faith,
to strengthen your own heart.
[Jeremiah] When you cry out,
God will hear you.
Oh, Mishael.
Bind the Word across your heart.
Fasten it around your neck.
[dramatic music playing]
Ha.
Hananiah.
Teach them the words
of this book.
Help them understand it.
You have my word.
Azariah, show them
how to stand up,
even under the power
of the oppressor.
Daniel.
Teach them how to pray...
and to not be afraid.
The Word of God
will watch over our people.
[dramatic music continues]
When you wake in a foreign land,
it will speak to you.
Tomorrow, if you stand...
you stand for the truth.
Take rest, my brothers.
I shall be with you
when the sun rises.
[Nebuchadnezzar]
Tomorrow will be...
the dawning of a new age.
The birth of a new
Babylonian empire.
The time has come.
It will be a day the entire
world will remember.
A time for you to stand
for truth, my king.
Am I finally your king?
Of course.
[in foreign language]
Ah, you speak Akkadian now.
[laughs]
Magnificent.
You don't cease to amaze.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English] Beloved.
Am I beloved by you?
I will ever be at your service,
Your Majesty.
Indeed.
Indeed.
To be beloved...
is everything and all there is.
I have always loved twilight.
Like the world is a prayer.
Dwelling in hope.
Possibility.
My father and I would often come
and sit here together.
And listen.
Do you hear?
You have done well.
[speaking foreign language]
You have yet to see what
we have crafted, Your Highness.
I trust you will be pleased.
My architect.
My angel.
My Daniel.
I only wish
my father could be here.
To see.
He was beloved by all,
but none so much as me.
I would have willingly
given my life for his.
You have described exactly
my love for Elohim,
my heavenly father.
I am completely devoted
and bound by faith to him.
And that is everything
and all there ever was.
Teach me.
Teach me to learn
the ways of your God.
I wish to know
what true faith is.
I want to be beloved
by all in this way.
The Most High himself
chooses us when we are ready.
Ready? I'm always ready.
Ready for what?
To surrender all you are
and everything you have
for the faithful service of Him.
Surrender? Me? Never.
Your will is too strong and your
might is blinded by your heart.
Ay-ya!
Forgive me, my king. I...
speak too much.
May the truth shine its light
on us all tomorrow.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
What truth?
What do you mean?
Please stay.
Come.
Go on.
I'm listening.
[Daniel]
Have you heard from Jeremiah?
I have heard that my brother
is working on a message
for all the exiles.
Another word from Jeremiah.
Part of me is afraid to hear it.
Daniel, you have risen
to second in the kingdom.
Reality is far stranger
than any dream.
What do you mean?
I am troubled
by what tomorrow may bring.
[gasps] I have never heard
Daniel of Judah
speaking of his fears before.
Perhaps because
I have never spoken them.
When we interpreted
the king's dreams,
he spared our lives.
The king even recognized Yahweh
as the great God.
[Susanna] Hmm.
We all heard that.
But tomorrow,
we unveil his golden image.
Spectacular in appearance,
and every exile
and soul in Babylon
will be compelled to bow down
and worship him.
What will you do?
I will be seated
next to the king.
If I don't see you again--
Did God bring His people
all the way here
just to abandon us to death?
Did Elyon place Daniel,
son of David,
at the right hand of the king
to be turned away
and forgotten now?
Will you pray with me?
Give ear our God and hear.
Open your eyes and see
the desolate place
in which we live.
For your own sake,
look with favor on our despair.
Oh, Yahweh!
Righteousness belongs to you
and to us belongs shame.
You are the God
who removes kings
and sets up the throne.
[speaking foreign language]
[in English]
Look upon your people once more.
For your name's sake...
do not delay.
[Ayana] Susanna.
I don't mean
to interrupt your prayers,
but there's someone here
to see you.
[Susanna] At this hour?
Oh, Habakkuk!
My brother.
Your timing is right.
Have you come alone?
No. Not alone, my brother.
I came with the Word
of the Lord.
Standing in the awe
of the Lord, praying.
That's when I looked up
and I saw God.
His glory filled the heaven,
and His presence
filled the earth.
His splendor was like...
It was like sunrise.
He stood
and the earth shook.
But He...
He passed on forever.
The earth will be filled...
with the knowledge
of the Lord's glory.
As the water covers the sea.
[solemn music playing]
[Hazim] What a beautiful day
we've been given
to honor the king's decree.
I will take great pleasure
in seeing you bow to our god.
[dramatic music playing]
The earth will be filled
with the knowledge
of the glory of the Lord.
Who are those insolent children?
Those are my appointees
from Judah, Your Majesty.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
I remind the king that any man
who refused to bow, mighty king,
must be put to death.
These men are under
your control, Belteshazzar.
Surprising.
Bring them to me.
[slurps]
Young men from Judah!
The king summons you.
[Nebuchadnezzar] Is it true
that you deliberately refuse
to worship my golden image?
[sighs]
A show of disrespect
is a grave offense.
What is the meaning of this?
Belteshazzar...
what message are they sending?
When you hear the music again,
it would be prudent of you
to honor your king
by bowing down to his statue.
As an expression
of loyalty and obedience,
this would please me.
So, it is my request.
My command.
If you so choose
not to obey your king,
you will be thrown
into the blazing furnace.
Can your God rescue you then
from my hand?
King Nebuchadnezzar...
we do not need to defend
ourselves before you.
If we are thrown
into the blazing fire,
the God we serve
is able to deliver us from it.
And He certainly will.
Even if He does not,
we want you to know,
Your Majesty,
we will not serve your gods...
or worship the golden image.
I have seen a man's heart melt
in the battlefield
when a dagger
is placed at his throat.
Consider this the dagger.
Oh, come now!
[laughs]
Come now!
Even Belteshazzar, I am certain,
would willingly bow down
to my statue.
He built the thing
for the god's sake.
Why not you,
his brothers in faith?
Why not?
We are the children of God.
We do not worship false idols.
What makes you so special?
Very well.
Read the decree.
Arise!
Nation and people
of every language!
This is what
you're commanded to do!
As soon as you hear the music,
you must fall down
and worship the image of gold
that King Nebuchadnezzar
has set up.
Whoever does not fall down
and worship...
will be thrown alive
into the furnace.
[dramatic music playing]
Wait.
Speak up, young man.
We fear you alone
and seek your presence.
[tense music playing]
[Nebuchadnezzar] Bow.
Ashpenaz...
bind them.
Heat up the furnace.
[dramatic music playing]
Please rescue us
with one of your miracles.
Bring glory to your name.
We are stood for Him.
We fear no evil,
for thou art with us.
Do not withhold your mercy.
Keep your promise
to Abraham,
whom you loved.
To Isaac, your servant.
And to Jacob,
the father of your
holy people in Israel.
[suspenseful music playing]
[screams]
[guards screaming]
You have refined your servants
through the fire.
As they pass through the flames,
they will not be burned.
[dramatic music playing]
[dramatic music swelling]
What is this?
What is that I see?
Behold, Ashpenaz.
Ashpenaz, did we not...
Did we not place the three men
into the fire?
Yes, Your Majesty.
Three men went into the fire,
but now I see a fourth,
a fourth man.
No.
Three men went into the fire.
Impossible. My eyes deceive me.
[exhales]
[gasping and whimpering]
[praying in foreign language]
This fourth man...
He's walking around in the fire.
He's walking.
[laughs]
[crying]
Ashpenaz, this fourth man...
he looks like
a son of the gods.
[sweeping dramatic
music playing]
[gasps]
A son of the gods.
[muttering]
[shallow breathing]
We come.
I am coming.
[Nebuchadnezzar gasps]
[Daniel] My king.
Stand back, my king.
Stand back.
[gasps softly] But...
Shadrach.
Meshach.
Abednego.
Servants of the Most High God.
Your Savior. Come.
Come here. Come out.
[laughs]
[crying softly]
[Daniel] Oh, my God.
[laughing] Yes!
[dramatic music playing]
[whimpering]
Yes.
[in foreign language]
[dramatic music swelling]
[in English] My king is my God.
[sobbing]
My king is my God!
[sweeping dramatic
music playing]
[crying softly]
[Nebuchadnezzar]
These courageous men,
they have openly
defied my command.
They have surrendered
their lives
as a willing sacrifice.
Can any other god
save and deliver
like their one true God?
[dramatic music continues]
[gentle music playing]
[Mysterious Man]
This is what the Lord Almighty,
the God of Israel, says.
"To all those
I carried into exile
from Jerusalem to Babylon..."
"Build houses and settle down.
Plant gardens and eat
what they produce.
Increase in number.
Do not decrease."
[Mysterious Man] "When 70 years
are completed for Babylon,
I will come to you
and fulfill my good promise
to bring you back
to Jerusalem.
For I know the plans I have
for you,"
declares the Lord.
"Plans to prosper you.
And not harm you.
Plans to give you hope...
and a future.
Then you will call on me.
And come and pray to me.
And I will listen to you.
You will seek me
and find me.
When you seek me
with all your heart...
I will be found by you,"
declares the Lord.
"I'll restore your fortunes,
and I will gather you
from all the nations
and all the places
where I have driven you.
And I will bring you
back to the place
from which I sent you
into exile."
[shaky breathing]
"I will gather you
from all the nations and places
where I have banished you,"
declares the Lord.
"And I'll bring you
back to the place
from which I carried you
into exile."
It's time, Gaspar.
What became of the scroll?
[Mysterious Man]
As Daniel's magi,
we are charged
with protecting it,
along with the other treasures
received in the service
of King Nebuchadnezzar.
For there is no treasure
on earth
or in heaven
greater than the Word
of the Lord.
[gentle music playing]
Where is your home, young man?
Bethlehem.
What a coincidence.
We are on our way there
to bring a gift to the king.
We will take you home.
[dramatic music playing]
[dramatic music continues]
[rock music playing]
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
But will you walk
Through fire?
I won't be silent
Nothing's gonna stop me
Holy Spirit got me
Won this war
I'm gonna fight it
Even if it costs me
Even if my voice shakes
You'll hear me roar
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Overcoming
Standing for truth
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
Can you hear it coming?
Tell me when
The lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear this crown?
Hell is gonna
Take us higher
But will you
Walk through fire?
Tell me
When the lights go out
Who's gonna
Wear the crown?
Hell is gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We're gonna
Take this higher
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
But will you
Walk through fire?
I see it written in the sky
With a permanent glow
And I ain't ever gonna quit
'Cause I ain't in it for show
And I'll be carrying the
Truth like I do in this song
'Cause there's a power
In the Word
That they can't ever ignore
You're gonna feel the fury
Coming late
It's sure to happen
When we start to pray
Death can't even hold us
In the grave
Some people callin' it gospel
We just callin' it faith
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Overcoming
Standing for truth
Holy winds coming
It's about to blow through
The holy wind's coming
It's about to blow through
Tell me when
The lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear this crown?
Heaven's gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Tell me
When the lights go out
Who is gonna
Wear the crown?
Heaven's gonna
Take us higher
But will you walk
Through fire?
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
We're gonna
Take this higher
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, hey, hey, hey
But will you walk
Through fire?
But will you walk
Through fire?
My king.
Will you speak against
your own decree?
We will throw them
into the furnace now.
They are beyond saving.
Take them.
No, wait, wait.
I have a better idea.
[both gasp]
[lions growling]
[roaring]
