Foxhollow (2025) Movie Script

(crickets chirping)
(animal growling)
(video static)
(dramatic electronic music)
(feet shuffling) (Tom panting)
(animal howling)
(suspenseful music)
(feet shuffling)
[Evan] Something about that
footage, which bothered me.
[Christina] I couldn't
help but feel the moment
they stepped off that trail.
They were in real danger.
(suspenseful music continues)
[Trapper] I think people are scared
of what they don't understand.
It's comforting at the end of the day and
a lot simpler to believe
there's nothing out there,
hiding in the dark corners of the world.
(dramatic music continues)
(dramatic music continues)
(traffic roaring)
So the job stuff isn't going great,
but I've made a profile on
a like film making website,
so I'm gonna look for
some jobs on there today
and apply for some stuff and
try and get things going again.
(keys clacking)
So I found a local job that I could do
with a camera gear that I've got.
It's like a nature documentary apparently.
Which is cool because I
love hiking in the woods
and I like, you know,
being, (phone ringing)
Hello?
- Yeah, hello. Is that Tom?
- Yeah. Who is this?
[Trapper] Yeah, I
just got your email, man.
Oh, hi. For the nature documentary?
[Trapper] Never mind that.
Just bring all your kit ready to shoot.
Okay.
[Trapper] Meet me at Foxhollow
Woods 10:30 Friday morning,
and don't be late.
Um. (Phone clacks)
Hello?
What type of maniac calls
you literally three minutes
after you've sent the
email applying for the job.
(keys clacking)
"I know what I saw,"
and then there's a bunch of people just
basically having a go at him.
"Believe me or don't, the
evidence will speak for itself."
(Tom sighs)
(suspenseful music continues)
(traffic roaring)
(feet shuffling)
So I am driving to meet this guy
and he just sent me coordinates
like a old school fucking map coordinates
the way to meet him.
Looks like,
oh fucking hell, is that him?
He looks mental.
(car squeaks)
Fuck's sake.
He's pissing.
He's literally fucking pissing.
If he comes over and shakes my hand now,
I'm not gonna be happy.
Oh fuck's sake.
- Hi, mate.
- Tom?
[Tom] Yeah.
How's it going?
Nice to meet you.
Just pop this on you mate, all right.
It goes... Want me to ditch this?
Yeah. Yeah.
If you take that off,
it's just gonna sit on your chest, that is.
It's like, yeah, that one through there.
Have we have we got all of this shit on?
Yeah, yeah.
Sorry, so that one goes over here
and look, got this, this
looking be the sound then.
All these wires and
I'm gonna get tangled up
and hold me up, man, you know?
I'll tuck them in.
We can tuck them up your top where we can,
yeah, may maybe we like,
I'll put a little clip there or
something to keep it on you.
Yeah.
Okay.
Should be recording now.
So this is gonna get
everything where I see here?
Yeah, that'll see
where you see basically.
Do you know anything about Foxhollow?
Well, I spend a lot of time in the woods.
Go camping and stuff.
Camping and stuff.
Get in the car.
- What? Your car?
- Get in the car.
Let me show you something.
[Tom] Fucking hell, mate.
You live in here, do you?
This is a precipitation map.
Gives the amount of rainfall annually.
All the red areas are marked.
There's a lot of red areas,
there's a lot of fucking rain in Wales,
but this is where most
of the sightings occur.
The areas marked red are
over 40 inches of rain annually.
And there's one particular area
that has more of 40
inches of rainfall annually.
And that's here, Foxhollow.
My name's Christina Miles.
I've been a ranger in
Foxhollow National Park
for the last six years.
Right now I'm working here
just doing admin duty for the park,
organizing the group tours,
answering the phones, that kind of thing.
I'm on hiatus from the park
service while I take counseling
because it was me that
recovered the camera,
Tom's camera.
(dramatic music)
I got a call saying
there were two cars
parked at the trail head
and they'd been there for a few days.
Someone had seen two
men entering the woods.
I just feel like...
(Christine sighing) (feet shuffling)
A couple drove up here a
few years back around dusk time
and the woman was resting her head
against the passenger seat
and she suddenly saw the
silhouette of this huge animal
run outta the woods from four legs.
The husband smashed the big bugger,
nearly had it there,
but it just slowly turned around, you know,
just glared at 'em right in the eyes.
These glowing yellow eyes
like he was looking
into their soul, you know,
and he just reared up on his hind legs,
jumped clean over the bonnet
and fucked off into the woods.
(feet crunching) (birds chirping)
[Tom] Wait a minute. I didn't,
I didn't realize it was private property.
I thought it was public
land we were walking on.
Restricted areas are
for restricted people, man.
(feet crunching)
[Tom] Okay.
So what are we looking for?
Scratches, scents,
bent over trees.
Snaps like this.
Just take these trees and
then just whip them away.
(feet crunching) (birds chirping)
You can't tell me that
this is natural activity
that's going on here.
They've all been pulled over on purpose.
[Tom] What for?
They make dens. They make nests.
They're probably scared of us as
other people are of them.
(feet crunching) (Trapper whistling)
Do you hear that then?
[Tom] No.
You got to hear the little knocks.
They like to knock against the wood.
(feet crunching) (birds chirping)
I don't know about all this.
Am I losing my mind
or is he actually talking about Bigfoot?
(Trapper whistling)
How are we supposed to hear, mate,
if you're whittling all the time?
Do you know what they sound like?
No.
(Trapper whoops)
[Tom] Really?
[Trapper] You do it.
(Tom whoops)
Higher.
(Tom whoops)
I can't get my voice that high.
Leave it to me.
(Trapper whoops)
(wind blowing)
[Tom] Why would someone
just leave their camp set up like that?
Do you reckon someone scared them off?
Something.
(tarp rustling)
Nothing in there.
Somebody's left here
a bit chop or something.
(leaves rustling)
It's gonna get dark soon.
We better set that camp here I think.
- All right.
- For the night.
(wind blowing) (tarp rustling)
(lighter rasping) (wind blowing)
Sandwiches for tea. (Trapper laughs)
(wind blowing)
Do you know what?
I'm gonna make a believer out of you
before the end of this trip.
I don't know about all that.
I'm telling you.
Just keep an open mind, man.
I'll stay tonight but,
we'll see how tonight goes then,
Well, - Talk about tomorrow.
I mean you could always
make your own way back out
in the dark
on your own.
I might.
I'll stay for tonight.
(feet shuffling) (wind blowing)
(tree knocking)
What are you doing?
It's called knocking.
Sometimes you can get a different
pitch from different parts of the trees,
is how they communicate.
Sometimes you might get something back.
(tree knocking)
So it's a night one
to say you're gonna be
shooting a nature documentary
and you turn up and
there's talk about a Bigfoot
and all this and all this stuff,
it's definitely more than I
was kind of bargaining for.
(Tom speaks faintly) (suspenseful music)
The trail cameras they'd set up
were the first thing we recovered,
and even that took four days.
We were out door until dusk.
But the dogs kept getting
thrown off the scent by something.
By the time a search goes past day three,
you are looking for bodies
rather than survivors.
Especially in an area that size.
The volunteers were dwindling by then.
We just weren't turning up anything
and we knew time was running out.
After my previous search hadn't worked,
I decided to go off
trail on the fourth day.
I hiked down into the restricted area,
down past the old campsite.
It was a good few miles,
but I wasn't going home empty handed again.
I knew they were out there.
After a few hours, I'd almost given up.
But then on my way back,
I saw a strap sticking
out of a pile of leaves.
It was attached to Tom's GoPro.
(suspenseful music)
[Trapper] Yo.
- All right.
- Sleeping pretty.
(zipper zapping)
We are gonna go down to the creek.
There's a river and I'm just gonna show you
where I had my sighting.
(feet crunching)
All this stuff has been
rolled and put here because
you hear how noisy is this.
Somebody scrolls over this.
They're only up there.
That's the last place
you'd think of looking is up.
Clever bastards.
[Tom] So what would you
say to people who think that
what you believe in is
a conspiracy theory then
"and it's not real."
Come out into the woods.
Check it out for yourself.
Don't go on fucking line
and read what the bullshit people say.
There's nothing so far.
That he showed me that
he couldn't have just set up himself.
[Trapper] Don't just sit here scrolling.
I think it's another day of him
just walking around pointing out branches
and things you could find in the words.
[Trapper] Bless does in your thumbs.
It's gonna be a long day.
(feet shuffling)
Last time I was around this way,
there was a lot of movement up there.
You don't get a lot during the day.
It's at nighttime.
A bit further down.
(feet shuffling)
And the river,
all these trails converge onto the river.
They like a supermarket there
for big fucking predators, you know.
This is his spot.
This is it.
Just a block here and there.
They just come from behind
that broken branch and
the little creek.
(water rushing)
It's one of those compass whistlers.
It's been bitten and cleaned off.
(water rushing)
(feet shuffling)
(water rushing)
(feet shuffling)
It can charge at me anytime, sir?
What do you mean?
When I see it from up there.
I couldn't hear a fucking thing.
You know that thing?
I felt it.
I felt the sound.
You'd ever been afraid of sound, Tom?
No.
Do you like loud music, like metal?
Yeah. Yeah, I like metal.
Or have you ever
been to like a dance club
or a rave or anything,
you hear that sub base?
Yeah. Yeah.
It gets to you right
in the fucking chest.
Exactly like that but tenfold. Tenfold.
I didn't hear anything coming towards me?
I just felt the sound.
They use it to paralyze their pray.
It's just like this shock wave.
Only fucking totally takes their prey out.
It's like I'm in real bad vertigo.
I don't remember a
fucking thing after that.
Nothing.
Why didn't it get me?
Why didn't it get me?
That's what I want know.
Why me?
Why, if they are peaceful creatures.
And then they'll be,
you're not gonna holler at them,
you gonna meet them anyhow.
They just know that I'm
out there, trying to observe.
- I got no guns.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's not a mass of people.
There's not huge camera fields.
That's why I wanted you.
That's why I want somebody just to come
and collect me some evidence.
Quiet, you know.
Quiet. That's all.
Why didn't they yell?
They just want quiet.
They don't want to be near the real world.
- Yeah.
- Who does? Huh.
Fucking mad enough as it is.
Fuck the real world.
(Tom sighs)
I don't really know what
to expect coming here,
but I think he's a lot more fucking mental
than I thought he was gonna be.
I wasn't expecting him to be so,
I dunno.
I wasn't expect him to be this fucking mad.
Look at him.
I need to take like fucking
breaks from him.
He's too intense.
And this whole,
you know, rugged country guy out here
looking for Bigfoot is,
it's the type of shit
that be on reality TV.
Like you don't expect to find it
in the valleys.
(feet shuffling)
What?
(water rushing)
(feet shuffling)
I could've sworn,
I could've sworn I heard
something back there, man.
This place is kind of
freaky evening, daytime.
Like claw marks.
After the rest of the team
arrived, I walked further on.
There was a pile of dried
blood near the base of a tree,
which was later identified
as matching the blood
found on the camera.
And just past that was Tom's other camera
amongst all the other items.
(feet shuffling)
There were piles of clothes and shoes,
phones, cameras, some years old.
We didn't even have
active missing in person
cases we could tie them to.
They were all pretty badly damaged.
In fact, Tom's was the only one
we could get any footage from.
I made a copy of Tom's footage
that one of the team had assembled and
watching it back home.
I couldn't help but feel
the moment they stepped off that trail,
they were in real danger.
(feet shuffling)
[Tom] There's more signs here, man.
I dunno about being like,
Tom, never mind that.
Now look at this.
(feet shuffling)
You see this?
This is all man made, right?
This been man made.
These been man made.
But this,
there's no way that's man made.
Look at under that tree
and just imagine what they
could do to a man's head.
My name's Evan Jones.
I'm a licensed private
investigator here in South Wales.
And I was approached by Christine,
I think it was thinking
about it last February
to have a little look
at the Foxhollow case.
And she wanted me to review
the footage that they found.
It was all,
it was all really hush-hush because
her employers really,
really didn't want anybody,
anybody that was from the
outside looking at the evidence.
I suppose it was pretty straightforward
to start off with, you know.
But you look at footage like that,
I mean people go missing in areas
of wild land like that all the time.
But as I started looking into
this footage more and more
and looking into the history of the place,
things become
a bit more complicated.
(feet shuffling)
[Tom] Oh fuck, man.
There's more restricted space.
Fuck the restricted areas.
They pulled trees off from woodland
to the public all the time.
No explanation.
High winds towards the park,
broke towards the park.
We're absolutely no danger at all.
Do you think the people who own all this
give a fuck for us in public safety?
[Trapper] I don't know.
Do you know what a
containment theory is, Tom?
[Tom] No.
Imagine now
they were monitoring all this wilderness
for an unidentified species.
These signs aren't there to keep us out.
They to keep them in.
[Tom] You're losing me here, mate.
Fuck.
A majority of your people
wouldn't notice any unidentified species
that was 10 foot in front of them
because they too busy yapping
and on social fucking media.
These things are masters of
their own environment, you know.
Not like people,
they're like one with nature, you know.
They don't want be found.
They don't.
Come on.
(suspenseful music) (water rushing)
I had found reports
dating back the eighties
of hikers going missing in this area
with no trace.
And then clothes,
items of clothing being found
miles away from where they disappeared.
Really strange stuff.
[Tom] You're not worried about
being out here own night now?
People have seen you around, you know,
and this is where you think they are.
Are you sure this is the best
place for us to be camping.
(feet shuffling)
(Trapper chuckles)
(Trapper whistling) (feet shuffling)
He's gone for a piss.
I'm,
I don't really feel safe.
I don't really know if what he's saying is
true or whether he thinks it's true.
I'm not sure which is worse,
but I really don't trust him.
(feet shuffling)
You tell me with all this vast amount
of expanse and space
that there's nothing out there?
Rubbish.
They wanted to think
there's nothing out there, huh?
Same way as they wanted to think that
there's nothing out there either.
Same people.
Same people.
(Trapper speaking faintly)
(Tom breathing heavily)
(tree knocking)
Fuck was that?
Trapper.
(tree knocking)
Trapper, if that's you,
I'm gonna be fucking pissed off.
(Tom breathing heavily)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
It's close.
(feet shuffling)
Sounds like,
it sounds like footsteps.
It truly sounds like
footsteps outside the tent.
(Tom breathing heavily)
Like someone's there.
Like someone's there,
moving around outside.
(feet shuffling)
(Tom speaks faintly)
(light flicks) (feet shuffling)
(Tom breathing heavily)
(leaves rustling)
(feet shuffling)
(animal whoops) (feet shuffling)
This looks like its moving away.
Trapper.
Trapper.
(zipper zapping)
(Tom breathing heavily)
Trapper.
(feet shuffling)
(Tom breathing heavily)
Trapper.
Wake up.
(feet shuffling) (Tom breathing heavily)
(dog barking)
(wind blowing) (birds chirping)
(Tom breathing heavily)
[Tom] Do you hear that noise?
No.
(dramatic music)
- Tom.
- Yeah.
[Trapper] You better come see this.
All right.
(zipper zapping)
Oh, what the fuck?
What the fuck is that smell?
He's been in, man?
What you mean, "He's been in?"
How they even get that
close while we were asleep?
How do they even get that close?
(feet shuffling)
These weren't last night. Look at this.
Those in that nest over there,
they were probably messages,
maybe they were a warning for us.
Keep up.
(feet shuffling)
Fuck man.
It looks like they trashed the place.
- Yeah.
- Fuck.
The fucking audio recorder, man.
[Trapper] All the gear's gone.
Something's been here.
My fucking trail cam.
They've knocked it right out.
I need to check my audio
recorder still working.
(water rushing)
(animal howling)
Fuck.
I'm not...
Have you heard anything like that before.
That's fucking,
that sounds fucking huge.
I'm not fucking remember that.
[Trapper] There's knocking in there.
- Yeah.
- It's knocking there.
But have you heard 'em shout like that?
[Trapper] That's warnings, that is.
They're communicating
somewhere along the line.
I can't, I can't.
I dunno about this, man.
I'm not here to do,
I'm not here to do this mate.
I'm not sure.
Look, man, this is why you were here.
I seen your eyes like that, man.
You can't tell me you're not fucking
one little bit interested.
Look, there's nothing that's telling me
that you didn't set up everything
the entire time you've
been in these fucking woods.
Do you know what I mean?
If I can't trust you with
what you're showing me,
I can't trust you with anything else.
So I want my money
and I'm fucking out of here.
I will walk back to my car.
My whole reputation is on the line here.
I can't leave now, man.
Not now.
(suspenseful music)
(car swooshing)
(door banging)
Okay.
So this is the camp,
last place where Tom was known to be seen.
And yeah, we believe that
that's the direction
that they went in down there.
Dunno if any of the other
rangers have felt this.
I've not mentioned it to anyone but,
yeah, it just gets like eerie quiet.
It's gonna be getting dark soon.
Do you mind if we make a move actually.
It doesn't feel right.
(suspenseful music continues)
No, I don't believe in
anything supernatural.
I suppose that it helps
with loss of bereavement,
talking about feral people
or wild men in the woods.
Look, I don't wanna speculate,
but I think that if you
go looking for monsters
then you'll find them.
(feet shuffling)
He's been here before, you know.
He knew we were coming on Friday,
so he would've had time
to come up here before
and set the stuff up, you know.
The stuff he's showing me
could have been made by him.
And what's to say he's
not just set all this up
so he can keep me here?
I just don't understand
what happened at the hide.
The sounds on his recorder.
It's all beyond my understanding.
I can only say honestly
that in the six years
of working at the park, I
never heard anything like that.
If I had, I would've left a long time ago.
(suspenseful music continues)
(birds chirping) (fire crackling)
(can opening)
Why do they call the truck van?
(Trapper chuckles)
I was born on the 6th of June, 1966.
(Tom sighs)
I don't know how to think anymore.
It's actually tiring listening
to somebody rant like that.
And if he actually believes
all the stuff he's saying,
I kind of think he needs help.
I feel sorry for him.
(birds chirping)
(tree knocking)
So I can hear her knocking
like he was talking about earlier.
(feet shuffling)
(tree knocking) Trapper.
(feet shuffling)
(Tom breathing heavily)
(feet shuffling)
(wind blowing)
(feet shuffling)
(Tom breathing heavily)
What the fuck is this?
(feet shuffling)
(feet crunching)
It is like all matted here.
There's gotta be like seven foot up though.
(animal shrieking)
(feet shuffling)
What is this?
That's fucking huge.
(animal howling)
(feet shuffling)
(zipper zapping)
(Tom breathing heavily)
(suspenseful music)
Oh.
It's pretty rough.
(zipper zipping)
Trapp.
Come on. We gotta go.
We slept in.
Trapp.
Fuck.
Fuck's he gone?
Trapp.
(rain pattering)
I'll get my
washed phone and
I'll ring it.
(feet shuffling)
Its so fucking flat.
Trapper.
(birds chirping)
(feet shuffling)
What the fuck.
(wind blowing)
(feet shuffling)
He's fucking trashed all his stuff.
(birds chirping)
I feel like I'm being watched all the time.
Let's get back to camp
and pack everything up
'cause I'm not staying here
one second longer than I need to.
(animal howling)
This noise I hear last night.
(feet shuffling) (birds chirping)
(camping gear shuffles)
(birds chirping)
(wind blowing)
(feet crunching)
(Tom breathing heavily)
Please stay turned on.
(birds chirping)
Look at that piece of shit.
Fucking, fucking piece of shit.
(birds chirping) (tree tapping)
(rain pattering)
(tree knocking)
(rain pattering) (tree knocking)
(zipper zapping)
(feet shuffling)
That's me done.
They shot all this stupid fucking film
on with this guy.
And now these all weird noises,
I dunno where they're coming from.
The nearest out is that far away.
(Tom breathing heavily)
I need to get outta here tonight.
(feet shuffling)
Oh fuck.
Oh shit.
(Tom breathing heavily) (wind blowing)
(Tom grunting)
(feet shuffling)
(Tom panting)
Oh fuck.
Fuck's sake.
(feet shuffling)
(birds chirping)
(feet shuffling)
It's got pretty quiet.
It's as if the birds have stopped.
(feet shuffling)
It's gonna be dark soon.
(feet shuffling) (Tom panting)
I feel like it's the same way.
I'm just going around circles.
No matter,
no matter which direction I turn,
it just feels,
I think I'm lost.
I shouldn't have come here.
Something about that
footage which bothered me.
(feet shuffling)
There's something moving in the background.
(feet shuffling) (birds chirping)
(eerie music)
Once I'd seen that, I
went back through it all.
Everything they'd shot.
(feet shuffling) (eerie music continues)
(feet shuffling)
It was as if they were
being stalked the entire time.
They didn't know it.
(lighter flicking) (eerie music continues)
It's the sunset on that final night.
It was hard to watch knowing what happened.
(Tom breathing heavily) (feet shuffling)
(wind blowing)
Fuck.
It's right where,
I'm back where I twisted my ankle.
Must have taken the
wrong turn somewhere and
got turned around.
(tree knocking)
Fuck you, man.
Gotta go.
I gotta go.
(feet shuffling)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
(Tom breathing heavily)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
Oh fuck.
(feet shuffling)
(animal howling)
(feet shuffling)
(Tom panting)
(tree knocking)
(animal growling)
(Tom sobbing)
(tree knocking)
(feet shuffling)
(animal growling) (feet shuffling)
(animal growling)
(feet shuffling)
(Tom coughing and panting)
(animal growling)
(feet shuffling)
(animal growling)
(somber music)
It is not something that
most people would understand
or even believe in.
What those men went through,
it's terrifying.
It was a shame whether
it was explainable or not.
They should have stayed on the trail.
(Trapper whoops)
[Tom] Really.
You do it.
(Tom whoops)
Higher.
(Tom whoops)
[Tom] I can't get my voice that high.
Leave it to me.
(somber music continues)
(somber music continues)
(feet shuffling) (wind blowing)
I'm sorry Tom.
They've gotta feed.
Keeps them in, yeah,
and everyone else out there safe.
(wind blowing)
(animal growling)
I will bring more as soon as I can.
(animal growling) (feet shuffling)
No.
No.
(animal growling) (Trapper grunting)
(animal howling)
