Katseye: Wild Hearts (2026) Movie Script

[audience exclaiming]
[man] The first member
is from the Philippines.
It's Sophia.
Lara.
Yoonchae.
Megan.
Daniela.
Manon from Switzerland.
Now, can you guys make some noise
for KATSEYE!
[audience roaring]
-[audience chanting]
-[speaking indistinctly]
Our Eyekons are what make KATSEYE iconic.
There's, like,
no better way to explain that.
If I ever go on a whim and put my mic out
to the crowd, they're gonna sing.
I signed a girl's forehead the other day.
That was sick.
I don't think we would be anywhere
without you guys.
Thank you so much, Eyekons,
for always giving us the best support.
["Pinky Up" playing]
KATSEYE is known for our performances.
They give us the stunts, they give us
the flips, the dips, the yuck.
We all are very passionate about
the performance aspect of it
and the dancing.
Whenever I look at the crowd, it motivates
me to go full out. Like, go crazy.
One of our biggest goals,
one of the things
we work hardest on is the performance.
Once you see us perform,
we better have you hooked.
[song continues]
With every performance,
we will bring you to a different world
and we will show you
exactly what you're needing to hear.
You have to see the world
to understand it.
The fans can expect from this new EP WILD
a continuation of the journey
that we're already on.
Pinky Up is like such a big, banger song.
I think it's my favourite on the EP.
This third EP, WILD, is more mature
and still very bold.
We're really, really excited about this EP
and for people to hear it
and to tell our story with it.
[audience cheering]
[singing]
It's like...
[all clamoring and laughing]
Well, guys.
Wait a sec, wait a sec, wait a sec.
Remember when we used to do
those Office moments where we'd be like...
where we'd look to the camera.
And you guys
never put it in the documentary!
We were all like, "Why?"
Do you want us to add it to this one?
-Yeah, can you, please?
-Yes.
-Like, keep talking to me.
-So like, what is like...
How did you feel about Coachella?
I don't know.
[both laugh]
Okay, let's talk about Coachella.
-What did you think? How did you feel?
-Holy shit.
-What did you learn?
-I loved it.
What's the goal?
That was my favourite thing
that we've done so far.
It was like one of our best performances.
I think so too.
There was so much, like, fire and passion.
I also thought we had great chemistry.
-Yeah.
-And like...
It was like, I felt it.
There were so many people.
-Yeah.
-And I was just thinking
we're, like, the first global girl group
to do this.
And it's like,
this should have been a thing.
I was, like,
having a panic attack on stage.
-Same. Same.
-Really?
That's why I sipped water before Debut
'cause I thought I was gonna throw up.
Same.
I think it just shows
what we do on a daily is not
something a lot of artists do these days
and it was kind of like the proof
of our hard work,
the long hours,
injuries, some part of you.
Another milestone.
Okay, so today, we're gonna do Pinky Up.
We're gonna film dance practice tomorrow.
-So we gotta clean it.
-Yeah.
Thank you.
-No, and it can't be revealed.
-Okay.
Here we go. One, two, three,
four, five, six. Go for it.
[exclaiming]
[singing]
KATSEYE, as performers...
Great.
...technically, it's so, like, high level.
It's so advanced.
[Sohey speaking indistinctly]
They make it look easy.
But that's a skill.
So, Sophia, slide out just a little bit.
Yes, I did have
a little dance experience growing up,
but I wasn't a professional dancer.
I learned this through the training
and observing the other professional
dancers that I trained amongst.
Being a dancer is really hard.
[laughing] Like, it's really hard.
I did not think it would be that hard.
I'm still learning.
Oh, my God!
[all exclaiming]
In my opinion,
the most important role that an artist has
in the live performance
is controlling the atmosphere.
That is something KATSEYE is
naturally really great at.
But...
even if you just have stage presence,
you need that skill to back it up.
Let's go from "cloud nine".
["cloud nine" playing]
Each song has a different colour
and different techniques
that they need to master.
I could hear a song
but once I see somebody dance to it,
I hear the song differently.
You have to train the movement.
You have to train the vocals.
You have to train the stamina.
You would just think, like,
"Oh, we're just doing it
multiple times in a row.
"It's so repetitive."
But there's always something
that I could be working better at.
I should never think
that I'm like, "Okay, I'm good."
[song continues]
Two, three, four.
Screaming from cloud nine.
We need to look at this placement.
Do you remember what I set this at?
...or like, the nipple...
Nipple. Find your nipple, go forward.
That's where it is.
I'm not worried
about their stage presence.
'Cause I know when they hit that stage,
they're going to command.
With them, it's really about the logistics
and developing the skills
and how they execute everything.
Reset, right away. Here we go.
Reset, reset, right away.
WILD is the make-it-or-break-it era
for KATSEYE.
Five, six, seven, eight.
This is the first EP where they truly have
the whole world's attention now.
This is a challenge for them
to show their authentic selves.
["Pinky Up" playing]
That's what the audience
and the fans want.
Pull out, pull out. Five, six.
At this point, we've pushed beyond
just doing a job together.
[choreographer exclaims]
And that's just a reflection
of how much we really have gone through.
Good push.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my gosh.
-I love it!
-It's nice!
So nice!
-Okay.
-So good.
-It's so beautiful.
-Oh, my gosh,
can we check out the kitchen?
No, it's like perfect.
That time feels like forever ago.
So much has happened since then.
[all clamoring]
I think we had some idea that like
"Training is over. It's a breeze now."
Like, "This is gonna be so easy."
Like, "How can it get harder than that?"
I look back and I'm like...
Now looking back on that girl I'm like,
-"Wow. You have no idea."
-"Damn, you do not know."
There was more pressure,
and more, like, care
'cause it's like,
"Okay, this is the group.
It needs to be incredible."
I remember just being
so excited to get started
and being so optimistic to see,
like, what KATSEYE had in store.
Guys, the poster!
It's us!
I had a lot of confidence in this lineup.
I had a lot of confidence
in each of our dreams
and how much we were going to represent.
Is this for us?
Oh, my gosh, I forgot about that.
Yeah, we used to live together.
Guys, look at the backyard!
Oh, my gosh. We can have
a barbecue in the summer.
-Yes!
-Can we get jacuzzi, like...
Living with just the six of us
in one place,
that had us really, like,
bond with each other.
We should get, like, posters
of, like, our favourite artists
-and, like, put them on the wall.
-Yeah.
[laughing]
I shared a room with Manon
and we became besties.
It was really, really cute
and we would watch movies, eat together,
just like what friends do, what girls do.
Sophia was my roommate.
[indistinct chatter]
I forget, she's only 18.
She started this at 15.
I started this older
than she is right now.
Me and Megan shared a bedroom.
I can't wait to steal your clothes.
-I can't wait to steal your clothes.
-Yes.
We would stay up all night
just, like, talking.
I feel like you never have, like...
You're always so confident
and you, like, never give
anyone the opportunity to be like,
"Oh, she's not." You know?
Or like, "Oh, I'm catching her
in this bad light."
Like, you never give anyone
an opportunity to.
And I feel like, me,
-[both laughing]
-l always give them the opportunity.
That is not true.
But, no, it's like...
I want to be more confident.
You know what I mean?
It was a whirlwind of a time.
It's all so good.
I'm so excited to see
how we are with each other,
like six months from now.
-Yeah.
-I know!
Because now we're really going to be...
-Like, now we're really in it.
-All the time.
-Cheers to our new home, guys.
-Cheers to our new home.
Salud.
I remember we were all so happy
being like, "Oh, my gosh,
we are actually, like, a girl group."
That time was kind of the training
to like get us to dance as one.
Our dance skills were different.
And our dance styles were very different.
So we had to match all of that.
In comparison to how we are preparing
for a new song to come out now,
Touch was something else.
We prepared for that song for a month.
Try it again.
[singing lyrics]
Exactly.
It was fun to work
on one of our very first songs
and just be like,
"Okay. Like, we're doing this."
This is my room.
My actual room is the exact opposite.
[laughs]
I look back at that time...
she was cute.
I think she was cute.
I think she was very pastel.
She was very pastel.
What a time.
Our first EP was very soft side.
[song playing]
It was a lot in the beginning,
but we had a good formula as a team.
[indistinct chatter]
Especially Grant and Son as a leader.
-[speaking Korean]
-It needs to be very lovely.
Like, that's the feel it should take.
Like, this is the time
you have to show your beauty.
To me, the SIS era was really about
them getting to know each other.
It was a very introductory era
for KATSEYE.
[indistinct chatter]
It was more so
like showcasing their ability,
more than their identity.
'Cause to be honest,
they didn't have their identity yet.
That was amazing.
-Thank you.
-That was the end of Touch.
-How does it feel?
-Amazing.
So good.
Life changing.
["Touch" playing]
There was a lot of love for Touch.
The response was great.
[class chanting along to song]
It was a really, like, beautiful time
in our fandom.
I am vibing right now.
No, don't cry!
Period, period, period. Sophia, period!
We haven't performed yet.
I think performing
will be the best part of our job.
-[all exclaiming]
-That's so exciting.
Why are ya'll here so early?
I know. It's hot.
That's so cool being able to see the fans.
And it's like, already like, it's hours
before the show.
and they're already here. Wow.
We have the Eyekons here.
[sound checking]
No, right, left, right.
Yeah, it doesn't need to be big.
It could be very small and more subtle.
Small.
They were really nervous at the El Rey,
their first fan event ever.
We're expecting, like, 700 people.
-Huh?
-Oh, my goodness gracious.
It was the first time
seeing our fans in real life
and I was very nervous.
Are we gonna get cued, like walk out,
like when we really need
to get out on the stage?
-Yeah, yeah.
-Okay.
[audience cheering]
We were like...
like I'm gonna literally pee myself,
I'm so excited. I'm like so nervous.
If we don't do this, like, we're gonna,
like, not be KATSEYE.
All right, KATSEYE.
KATSEYE, really, really quick.
This is your first show.
People are here for you.
Take it all in and let's give them a show.
Here we go. Period.
[speaking indistinctly]
[emcee] ...let Katseye know how you feel!
At the El Rey, it was like,
"Oh, my God,
they're already here for the ride
"and this isn't even anything."
I just saw a bunch of love.
Everybody was so invested in KATSEYE.
Just knowing
that we had supporters from that early on,
I really cherished that.
Standing in front of the fans
and they were cheering us.
Yeah.
Yeah. It was very emotional.
Sophia, you had fun?
So much fun. Oh, my gosh.
There's a lot of people here.
Can we like go outside
and give each of them a hug?
Nice work.
Can we?
I want my artistry to be received
with so much passion.
I want people to see me on stage
and be like, "She loves her job."
When you ask something from her,
she will give you 2000%.
She gives all of herself to this.
She's like my sister,
my best friend, my mommy.
She always has snacks in her bag.
[interviewer reading]
-Sophia is the mom.
-Sophia.
She will always 100% be there
for us, whenever.
I have my members supporting me.
She just went full mom mode.
She was like,
"Someone get her Liquid I.V.,"
preferably the passion fruit flavour,
'cause that's the one she likes.
I rely on Sophia a lot.
[man speaking]
Every time we have interviews,
we all would look at Sophia.
We would be like, "Sophia, take it."
-[man speaking]
-[Megan speaking]
Hmm... [laughs]
She always knows what to say.
Dude, the way Sophia from KATSEYE talks,
she's just so well spoken, so mature.
Like, don't worry about talking
dirty to me, just talk mature.
Having the role of the leader,
it's something that I feel like
naturally I'm always willing to take on.
Wait, Grant, I don't know
if this is working,
because I feel like
Dani is having a hard time
-finding where my hand is.
-I don't know where it is.
I see a lot of comments
where people are saying,
"Why isn't Sophia in the centre?
She's the leader."
Or "Why doesn't Sophia have more lines?
She's the leader."
I don't think people realise the role
of the leader
is not the face of the group.
We're all the face of the group.
Being the leader, I feel like it's more
backstage work than people think.
-[whoops]
-That's my Dani girl.
I love you, Dani, you're so good!
At the end of the day, I always see myself
as a member of KATSEYE
before anything else.
I love how extra she is.
They're youngest?
In the beginning of KATSEYE days,
all those moments,
we didn't plan any of that.
It just came out.
It's really fun doing the livestreams
and getting to kind of show
a little bit more of our personalities.
[all laughing]
At first, we kind of like
teased a little bit of our chaos.
We can go very chaotic. [chuckles]
There is no spider.
Oh, my gosh!
When they gave us a script,
we couldn't follow it.
We really discovered
that those are the type of people we are.
We are just us.
And, like, that has to be the brand.
Guys, I'm so excited to meet in Canada!
[cheering]
Our friendship
and how we talk to each other,
that's the thing that's gonna make
people truly excited.
-No.
-Oh, my God, I look ill. [laughs]
We always had that natural born
chaoticness within us.
So it's like,
we had to learn our way around it.
We're already live.
Oh, my God, this moment,
like, literally went so crazy.
The cameras were on and we didn't know.
Guys, y'all remember this.
Oh, God.
Oh, yikes.
We cussed online, went off script,
broke a lot of rules.
None of that was intentional. We weren't
gonna be like, "Oh, we're gonna rebel."
-I thought "We're getting cancelled."
-We're getting cancelled.
We were like, there's no more KATSEYE.
-We were like, "It's done."
-It's over.
I don't think
you can really prepare yourself
to, like, know exactly
what they're gonna respond, like, but...
People loved it.
I was just like, "Wow.
They act just like how my friends act."
We were like, "Wait.
People are eating this up."
They're really
unapologetically having fun.
Thank you, Eyekons, for that,
because you helped us a lot.
That's what people are resonating with.
I was like, "Okay, period.
I'mma keep being me then."
People see themselves in these girls.
They see how relatable, authentic,
and funny that they are.
The entire BEAUTIFUL CHAOS
and Gnarly, like, brand was
built off of you guys.
We are on the set of Gnarly music video.
Yoonchae fell over.
Hey, Megan.
It's going great.
We're all super excited
and we've seen some clips
and it looks great already.
It's very different
from what we've done before.
I think that people are going
to be so gagged by this video
because this is not "Touch, touch, touch".
Our second EP, BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,
was more bold.
We all felt like that world was created
off of who KATSEYE is.
Whoa!
Guys, a year ago, who would have thought?
We're so naturally raw as people
that when you give us a song like Gnarly,
we can really make that something.
Looking at the monitor
and watching back the choreography,
I had a moment where I was like,
"Oh, my God, like, we're doing this."
["Gnarly" playing]
The Gnarly.
I loved the song when I first heard it.
I was like, "I know
exactly what we're going for."
Like, "This is so cool.
I know the concept."
I was so excited by Gnarly
when I first heard it.
I heard the song and I was like,
"Oh, my God, what is this?
"I'm, like, so excited
with what we can do with this song."
To be so honest with you,
when I first heard Gnarly,
I was like, "What is this?"
[song continues]
When I first heard Gnarly,
I actually... liked it
because I could imagine
our stage and performances.
[song continues]
Making that shift into being a bit weirder
and a bit more experimental.
We were just so excited.
We had been wanting and craving that
and hoping for that.
And then also when we saw the choreo,
it's just, like, undeniably awesome.
Bro, the choreography
was my favourite part.
When I first listened to the demo,
I got chills.
It's almost like I just got visions.
Like, I felt like a psychic.
I mean, not really, but...
My style of movement
is not everyone's cup of tea.
It's a mixture of...
eerie, creepy,
but also enticing
and definitely otherworldly.
I was obsessed from the first listen.
I was like, "Oh, my God, this is
going to be freaking major."
Welcome home.
Korea.
Hey, what's up, y'all?
We just landed in Korea.
We were in Korea when Gnarly dropped.
I remember we were watching
the countdown on YouTube.
["Gnarly" playing]
The 24 hours since it released was
really insane.
-What is happening?
-What the...
What is happening?
People were like, "This sucks."
Like, "What is this?"
-I just...
-Were Gnarly's lyrics bad? Yes.
When they first heard Gnarly,
-they all hated it.
-People hated it.
This song is freaking horrible.
Manon came to my room
and we were both, like, scared, obviously,
'cause they hate it so much.
I'm just gonna hold my tongue
because this is ridiculous.
The fact that you really thought
I was gonna like this song...
I just looked at my phone,
and just threw it.
I was like,
"I'm not doing this right now."
"Oh, my God, this is it. This is the end."
-All right, how are we doing?
-Not good.
Okay.
I was bummed,
but as an artist,
you're gonna have to go through some
things that people don't like.
You just have to have,
like, a lot of thick skin,
which is easier said than done.
Here we go.
Watch your timing, and cue Gnarly.
Lock in.
-[song starts, stops]
-No, no, no, no, no.
We're gonna debut the performance in Korea
in the music shows.
All right, breathe.
Oh, I got a stitch.
Whether we were excited or frustrated,
we were trying to put all of our feelings
of the release into that performance
[song continues]
We tried to not be like...
Like, "Oh, like, I can't do it any more."
Like, we take that as more, like, step up
and, like, we're gonna prove.
[mumbling indistinctly]
Like, loosen it up and, like, tighten it,
and have more dynamics.
They have a lot of pressure on them
from a lot of different angles.
Okay. You guys are doing great.
Thanks.
I always need to make sure that they don't
have any negative thoughts in their brain
before they hit that stage.
["Gnarly" playing]
I was in LA and they were in Korea.
And when I saw the footage online, like...
whoa. Like, chills.
We're KATSEYE.
We will show you what our concept is.
We will bring the concept to your face.
That is one of our superpowers as KATSEYE.
[speaking Korean]
You really had to see it
in front of your face to really get it.
[both exclaiming]
People were like, "Oh, my God,
you know what? This is pretty good."
It went so viral.
We were like, "See?"
[fans cheering]
You have to be able to not let
what other people think
about a certain thing that you've created
and put so much of yourself into
affect how you saw it in the beginning.
-What's up, Huntington Beach?
-What's up?
Wango Tango was such a good place
to perform Gnarly
for the first time in the US.
We were very locked in.
[audience cheering]
All I can remember is being on that stage
and everybody is, like, saying "Gnarly",
everybody is saying
"Fried chicken, boba tea, gnarly."
Wasn't a huge fan of the song
when it first came out
but after listening to it in this,
it's a vibe.
I am loving this chorus.
[song continues]
Gnarly was definitely
one of our biggest songs.
It was definitely a turning point
for KATSEYE.
Gnarly was our first single
in the Billboard Hot 100.
The Eyekon community grew so much
through Gnarly and, like, through the era.
Gnarly taught us
to stand behind something.
Whether or not people like it, like,
you gotta stay true to what you believe in
and what you like.
Beautiful things,
beautiful art takes time.
There's a beauty of just not understanding
everything right away.
I became KATSEYE member at 15 years old.
I'm 18 years old. [giggles]
So I'm different.
Yoonchae, you're the shit.
You're the shit.
First of all, I have new hair.
So I feel like
I have whole different era this time.
Yeah, new era and new aura.
Oh, my God. When she showed up
with her bleached hair,
I was like, "Who is that?"
We did Gnarly for an hour straight.
We need
to put in that work for Pinky Up too.
[all laughing]
Let it out. Let it out.
I have to go to Urgent Care.
People always like to label Yoonchae
as the baby of the group,
but honestly, I don't think
Yoonchae is like that.
I think we're all underestimating Yoonchae
a little bit.
She's so much wiser than me.
Yoonchae is
incredibly emotionally intelligent
and very mature.
She makes me laugh.
She also calls me out.
She's not afraid to speak her mind.
We're not done talking!
-Can I say something?
-Yeah, come on. Okay, go.
KATSEYE, they can go very chaotic,
so I can be like a teacher.
Like, "Focus!"
We're doing Pinky Up clean version
for 20 minutes.
No! Please! No way.
Wait, wait, can you guys agree with me?
-I'll listen to what you say.
-I agree.
When everyone's feeling very emotional,
I'll be like,
"It's okay.
"We got it.
"It's not that deep."
Is there a phrase that you've learnt
from the other girls that you love to use?
She says "It's not that deep" a lot more
-than we thought she ever would.
-She does say that a lot.
-That's a good one.
-What?
-You say that all the time, Yoonchae.
-You do.
I feel like before I...
would always think
that I have to be perfect.
[all clamoring]
But after I came here,
I learned that being more... myself,
the audience will like more.
Are you coming to Lollapalooza?
Yes?
Okay, let's go shopping.
We have ten minutes, guys.
I remember when I first came,
I had very, like, thin and pretty voice.
["Touch" playing]
But then I start to sing
more different style of songs.
"They could describe everything
with one single word, you know?
"Like boba tea." Yeah.
So I wanted to just try
new... vocals.
[song playing]
I did a lot of lessons and practice.
Now I know the difference.
And, like, I improved a lot.
We should clap our hands.
Yay!
You did so good. That's the vibe.
-Yay. I'm ready.
-Yeah.
Energy, Megan.
I'm coming in hot.
-You're... [laughing]
-Did I... Did I just?
That was my fault.
-Go ahead.
-I said "I'm coming in hot."
-Okay.
-I'm like, on a roll right now.
-I'm on a roll.
-Come on.
[singing lyrics]
-All right. That was better.
-The first one was good.
With everything
that we continue to put out,
it gets more and more authentic
to ourselves.
We're maturing into our sound
a little bit more.
So when it comes to WILD,
this is like the most authentic
that we've been so far.
[continues singing]
With ANIMAL, it was so much fun to record.
It was able to showcase our singing
a little bit more.
And I know the Eyekons really wanted
to see that as well.
[continues singing]
I do think most of the songs are
very high energy,
but ANIMAL is one of the more chill songs.
-The first line was good though.
-Yes, it was.
Control was good.
[continues singing]
Yeah!
It's kind of just embracing, like,
your wild side.
[continues singing]
I think we just sound stronger,
more confident.
[continues singing]
When we record it,
I'll try to sprinkle as much
of my own essence as I can.
I'll just try so many things.
Like, so many things.
[continues singing]
You have to match, Everyone has to be...
Every hook sounded different,
so we kind of want it
to be a little more...
[continues singing]
When we do sessions,
I'm in there for ever.
We have like a scheduled time to record it
and we go back to back.
-Just the last one?
-Give me one more time like that.
-Okay.
-Give me one more time like that.
That was great.
But this is what it takes.
You have to work so hard for greatness.
It takes a lot. It takes a lot of time.
It takes a lot of hours.
It takes a lot of sweats and tears.
-We've been here since 3:00 a.m.
-We've been here since 4... 3? 4...
We left the hotel at 3:00.
We got here around 4:00.
We got to hair and makeup.
It's freezing in here.
We're in a warehouse.
[shivering]
Oh, my God.
You good?
It's freezing. Like...
please, please, please just hurry up.
Physically so demanding.
I just feel really dizzy.
It's the constant dancing.
-Yeah.
-It's making me feel nauseous.
My back is hurting me
with the chronic back issues.
I'm sitting out right now
because I hurt my back.
15-year-old Megan was very, very naive.
I kind of miss how much she had,
like, energy in her. [chuckles]
It's 5:16,
and we all are asleep.
I feel like a lot of people
don't understand how hard it is,
especially just like singing live
and dancing full, full, full out.
It just takes a certain level
of consistency and dedication
and focus.
It really does involve a lot of passion.
There's been moments
where I want to give up,
because it's really hard.
But I think something that motivates me
a lot are the Eyekons,
and looking into the future
and being like,
"Okay, I can't give up.
Like, you've got to keep going."
-Hi.
-Hey. Alex.
-Hi.
-Nice to meet you.
-Hi, nice to meet you.
-Alex.
Hi.
Did you guys watch telenovelas
or soap operas growing up?
-[music video playing indistinctly]
-Yeah, I did.
For the Gabriela music video,
when they told me it was, like,
a telenovela inspiration,
I was like, "Yes!"
Like, my grandma grew up watching those.
Going for something a little bit stylised.
You're not playing yourself,
you're in a telenovela.
We've also never done acting like that
in our music videos.
So I got really into it.
[laughing and clamoring]
All right, level 3. A little more,
but not above...
Gabriela was awesome.
I remember doing it and feeling
like "This is... This feels big."
[both grunting]
Break.
Gabriela allowed us to really be absurd
and just really play
into the drama of it all.
I didn't know Yoonchae could
punch a girl like that.
Yoonchae is not safe.
-Are you talking about me?
-We're talking about you because...
Oh, my God.
Never ever seen Sophia like this.
Never seen her with a man ever. Ever.
She's doing great. It's great.
But I'm about to beat her up.
[gasps]
-You bitch!
-[both screaming]
We decided
to create these signature colours,
so red was the signature colour
of Gabriela,
and so you see this through line that
extends to their performances on stage,
and you'll see the significance
of the rose.
["Gabriela" playing]
[speaking Spanish]
Means "His eyes are on me
and that's not gonna change."
[speaking Spanish]
Means "He loves me
and he doesn't care about the others."
It's basically like a bleep you.
Like a... to Gabriela.
When I found out I was singing in Spanish,
it was literally the best day of my life.
I think the Eyekons like it
when I speak Spanish.
[speaking Spanish]
I got to just like have that
in common with them.
[speaking Spanish]
It was really emotional
being able to connect
with my Latin culture,
my Latin people a little bit more.
I have to go to bed.
[speaking Spanish]
We are Venezuelans,
so we feel, like, connected.
We feel connected,
represented, completely.
We feel represented, it's crazy.
Yeah, we never thought we would see
a Venezuelan girl on a group like this.
-Never.
-No.
It's obviously more meaningful
when I speak in Spanish with them.
It's more meaningful for me too.
[speaking Spanish]
I love Dani.
If we had met outside of KATSEYE,
we would have been friends.
-[laughing]
-You know what I mean?
Like, it's so funny for no reason.
Because why did you say that?
Like, out of nowhere.
We have, like, a very sisterly bond.
She hurt me.
I'm about to beat this bitch up.
We laugh, we fight, we play.
On stage, she's like a little firecracker.
She is an explosion of energy.
And offstage, I actually don't think
she's that much different.
She's very, like, out there
and she's very, like, glamorous.
Hey! My feet hurt.
Grand entrance.
[laughs]
She's a little spicy.
I like that about her.
Like, she has a little bite to her.
She's just, like, undeniably a star.
She's a superstar.
The girls are real.
They're really honest.
That's what I lacked a little bit
growing up.
I feel like I didn't really have,
like, a girl group, like girlfriends.
So it was a little scary at first,
but I've learnt a lot about myself
because of them.
They genuinely do motivate me
to do my best.
And honestly, you know what motivates me?
The haters. The haters are like,
"Oh, she's doing too much."
Well, bitch, I do it even more
because I couldn't give a bleep
about what you guys say.
And both sides out, both sides out.
I am going to do
what I authentically please.
And the Eyekons are real ones.
And thank you for being so nice
when people are being so mean.
[fans clamoring]
It motivates me to keep working harder
and to never give up
because I can't let y'all down.
Lollapalooza Chicago will
go down as, like, my fav.
And I remember the energy
leading up to it was incredible.
Lollapalooza!
But we did not think
it would be so unexpectedly grand.
Oh, my God.
So many people!
This is the main stage?
-No.
-This right here?
That's Lakeshore.
No, this one.
Yeah, that's main stage here, yeah.
Holy shit.
[people cheering]
We debuted Gabriela at Lollapalooza.
It was nuts.
[muttering indistinctly]
It was something very new.
-I'm so nervous.
-You're gonna kill it.
I'm so nervous.
-Why?
-I don't know.
-'Cause the stage is huge?
-[fans chanting "KATSEYE!"]
We were actually so scared
because it was our first time using props,
chairs, skirts, backup dancers too.
It's real, like this is,
it's getting serious.
It was this full production
and I remember the hunger
to be great from all of us.
Singing and dancing
at the same time is always hard.
You also need stamina
because Gabriela is very long.
It's hard. It's so hard.
It's probably one of our hardest dances
to be so real with you.
But that's why we have dress rehearsal.
That's why we work with our team
because we want everything to go perfect
for the Eyekons
because, yeah, we love you guys.
[fans continue chanting]
Come on, y'all.
Three, two, one, KATS-palooza!
[fans continue chanting]
Oh, my God.
The outfits.
[song playing]
I love creating dance breaks
'cause there's no limitation.
[all exclaiming]
It's so crazy
if you look at it from behind.
There's so many moving parts.
[audience cheering]
What the hell are we watching?
People were gagging over it.
Yes. Dance break!
[people cheering]
That performance was really important
to who we are today.
It showed us that, like, that hunger
and passion for something,
when it's true and it really comes
from within, people connect with that.
Gabriela was our highest-charting song
on the Billboard Hot 100
and it showed us how we can make things
that will resonate globally.
It really did change the game for us
by a lot.
[fans clamoring]
Being in a global hit, I was so surprised.
-Do you wanna hear Gabriela?!
-[all cheering]
They started
getting a higher level of fame.
It's really cool to watch.
Manon!
But the more we grow into KATSEYE,
the more eyes
that we obviously have on us.
We were so excited at the beginning of it,
being like, "Oh, my God,
I just want to see
what everyone's saying about me."
Especially if it's like positive
for a second or like,
even a little bit of the negative.
Um, I fear KATSEYE's clock is ticking.
KATSEYE to me feels like
the equivalent of a Labubu.
When you choose to be an artist
or really, like, a public-facing person
in any way,
you can't take it too personally.
They're not my sister.
They're not, like, in our real life,
so they don't really know us.
KATSEYE's music isn't good.
I was told
that there were so many things going on
on the internet at that time.
And a lot of the things I find out are
usually when people try to comfort me
and they're like, "I'm sorry,
but what I'm hearing online..."
I was like, "I'm sorry, I'm not online.
"I didn't know until you told me."
Bitches are out of control.
-I think, yes.
-Overstepping.
Being thrown into the industry, just at...
I'm still really young,
so at such a young age,
I think a lot of things that you wouldn't
really necessarily think about
play a part into mental health.
Being in the public eye all the time,
seeing what everyone's saying about you,
just being overwhelmed by so many eyes
on you all the time, opinions,
but also wanting to please everyone.
You okay?
You're wanting
to be a version of yourself.
I'm not KATSEYE Megan all the time.
There are some days I'm like,
"I need a break",
which is so normal.
[indistinct chatter and clamor]
When Manon went on hiatus,
it was definitely sad.
Manon connects with people
at an incredible level.
Just like her calmness,
her way that she holds herself,
like, the way that she speaks.
She's such an easy talker.
She knows how to talk to people.
Hi, everyone!
She has an undeniable charisma
and effortless authenticity about her
that is really, like, important
to what KATSEYE is.
Say hi to the Eyekons.
[laughing]
Hi!
Holy... Holy [trills].
For me, when I was on hiatus,
I was injured from my back.
And it was definitely hard being able to
see everything that the girls were doing
and not being able to be there myself.
We're not in KATSEYE
to just be internet people.
We definitely love performing.
["Touch" playing]
So when we have to take a break
and sit back from it,
it gets really hard because we want
to do everything for the fans.
But it gets a little tricky
when you have to also balance that
with the mental aspect of it.
"Any tips for when you get overwhelmed?"
I get overwhelmed very, very frequently.
I get super overwhelmed with my emotions.
Mental health has always been
super, super important to me.
A lot of people, more than we think,
struggle with some kind of mental health,
even if it's just like, "I don't feel good
for the day, I have a lot of anxiety."
Like, it's just so unrealistic that
someone's gonna feel 100% all the time.
My own struggles
with my mental health comes in waves.
I've always struggled
with having a little bit more stability.
I'm a 20-year-old girl.
I'm not gonna be having
everything figured out right now.
It does really feel isolating at times.
I would have killed
for someone in the public eye,
when everything looks so perfect online,
for someone to be like,
"Actually, I don't have my shit together
and I feel like shit sometimes."
I go to therapy like twice a week.
It's very helpful.
I have such bad social anxiety.
I, like, overthink everything.
Like, when I'm talking to people,
like, I'm like, "Oh, my God, I did so..."
It's like... Yeah.
But I'm working on it.
Most of the time, my number one fear is
someone thinking that I'm weird
or thinking
that I am too out there too much.
But these girls have, like,
really, really comforted me
and made me feel like I could be myself
and I felt very seen and safe.
I keep burping.
Stop burping. You can't burp.
-'Cause you're an idol.
-[giggles]
Well, if I was an idol,
would I make this face?
Megan has gotten me through...
the toughest parts of life.
We've gone through this,
like, holding hands.
We have so much fun together.
She inspires me.
She makes everyone,
I think, feel really special.
Like, she has that thing in her.
You are never, ever alone.
You matter. And I love you.
The Eyekons always really,
really make me feel super safe
and supported.
Like, I came out to them.
Like, tell them literally every
single thing about myself.
Being able to be more authentic
to myself and raw
makes me a better creative
and performer in general.
Now, especially, I don't really care
about anyone else's opinion,
which is the best situation
that I could be in,
especially with what I do.
Some people would be dying to be
in the shoes that I am in now.
So, like...
And that was me a couple years ago.
I'm just, like, blown away.
I'm blown away.
How did we get to this point so quickly?
I can't even imagine what point
we're going to be at in a year.
It really is exciting
and we just don't want to stop.
Girl, there's people watching.
[audience cheering]
The Gap campaign got
a lot of people's attention.
Touchdown, it's McConkey!
I saw the impact of KATSEYE
in making people feel seen.
Seeing a South Asian woman like Lara
from KATSEYE front and centre
for a brand like Gap,
representation matters.
The VMA goes to...
The VMAs...
KATSEYE.
[all cheering]
...so cool.
I couldn't believe it.
I was like, "That's for us?"
[automated voice speaking]
Just so much adrenaline right now.
First day of the tour...
crazy.
[audiences cheering]
My home state of Texas.
[audience cheering]
-We're at the airport right now.
-Where are we?
[audiences cheering]
We are almost halfway through the tour.
[whoops]
It's been a whirlwind of emotions.
A stitch came out.
There's been performances
that have been better than others.
It's inevitable.
Happy Thanksgiving, Eyekons. We love you.
Right now we're in Seattle.
We have a show tomorrow.
Yeah, we're already
playing night two in LA.
-We just finished our Euro tour.
-[all exclaiming]
To do what we do is so fun,
but we put a lot, a lot of work
into everything.
And all that hard work,
it really does pay off.
How does it feel to be Grammy nominated?
That's crazy
to think I'm Grammy nominated.
Being recognised from our own peers
and like, academy,
I'm like, "Oh, my God, you know who I am?"
We are fitting KATSEYE
for their Grammys looks.
We are wearing
custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin.
Because of these girls,
white lace is back.
I'm very, very grateful.
[audience cheering]
Coachella was
one of our biggest moments to date.
There was an immense amount of pressure.
Obviously Coachella,
super important, super big.
[audience cheering]
Oh, my God, I'm at Coachella!
-Coachella is everyone's dream.
-Literally a dream.
Coachella is our biggest stage.
Like, this is make or break.
I was just like, "Oh, my God,
my heart is racing so much."
Like, I had to, like,
constantly tell myself,
like, "Okay, Megan, like, you're okay.
"Like, just breathe, breathe."
We went on stage.
[audience cheering]
And I saw the whole crowd.
And there were so many people.
[audience chanting "KATSEYE!"]
And then...
-it goes like this.
-["Pinky Up" playing]
I could feel that everyone's panicking.
The wind was very, very crazy.
It was not like a pretty wind.
It was like... like a storm.
[song continues]
But I think we did very good.
Coachella was just a beautiful moment
of seeing just how much
people show up for us.
That to me was an example
of how small the negative noise online is.
I was like, "Oh, my goodness,
"the amount of people that are
probably talking about us can't...
"they can't fill up this place right now."
-Hey, Sophia!
-Sophia! Sophia!
Leader!
And that to me was insane.
[audience chanting "KATSEYE!"]
I'm super sick.
I'm like so hot.
When did you take medicine?
This morning.
-[sighs]
-You should go home and sleep.
With WILD, we're kind of closing up
on that Pinky Up era.
We've been in that world so much
and we're about
to, like, hop into what ANIMAL is,
kind of like when we released Gnarly
and then went to Gabriela.
It's such a different vibe.
It's really exciting
because I just love a switch up.
-All right, you guys ready?
-New dance.
So the chorus, it looks simple,
but there's a lot of, like, control.
There's a lot of isolation.
Today is the first day that we're learning
the new choreography for ANIMAL.
I love a new choreo day.
Right shoulder goes back.
And then...
Let's practise. One,
two and, four, five, six and,
and a one, two and, three,
four, five, six and.
Yeah? Now let's add slow walk.
With ANIMAL,
that choreography is very mature
and it's a lot more actually dialled back
from what KATSEYE has normally done.
It's all about being that girl that has
that animalistic nature to them.
I think of a female lion hunting
for what you want
and intent.
Hey!
Kick, kick.
Oh, I knew it.
-Yeah, like, this is...
-Kick, kick.
[exclaims] That tickles.
Yeah, it's like it's off.
It's this.
-I told you.
-We're gotta restart. Restart.
-[cackles]
-Wait, we need to go step...
-We need to go step by step.
-I got off the rail.
The EP, it does come out
in a couple months,
and we have a lot of festivals coming up.
And so I feel like for ANIMAL,
we probably...
I feel like we don't have
a lot of time to work on it.
Like, when you're this way,
the hip is this way.
[exclaiming]
It's always hard.
No, but this...
This is like... This, like, feels...
like... Yeah.
Actually, no, but that was hard.
-That was hard. Yeah.
-We didn't struggle.
-I didn't struggle.
-Yeah, but no one's talking about you.
This... I couldn't get this.
Yeah, like, that's what I'm saying.
Like, when it's weird and uncomfortable...
Yeah, it was uncomfortable.
...that's what makes it iconic.
I feel like in Debut era,
if you had told me I only had three weeks
to learn the song before the music video,
I would have been like, "You're kidding."
And now we have a festival,
I have two days, two rehearsals,
let's go. Let's do it.
[choreographer scatting]
-[groans]
-[cackles]
Okay, faster. Go, go, go. One, kick, kick.
Kick, kick.
Kick, kick.
[singsongy] Roll like you're animal.
Questions!
-It's really hard!
-Yes.
It's not fun if it's not hard.
["Animal" playing]
We're still in a phase
where we're finding our own sound.
That's why I feel like WILD still contains
a lot of songs for everybody.
You know, we're not just one sound.
We're all different people
with different tones
and different music tastes
and approaches and personalities.
We need to give people as much as we can.
[song continues]
We want to mature more.
We want to learn more about ourselves.
We want to expand on that story
and those visuals and all that stuff.
I'm really excited
about the visuals of this.
It just feels fun.
It feels a bit eerie, in a sense,
with the world
that's been built around it.
It's definitely an evolution.
We are shooting our photos for WILD.
Today we are BOYSEYE.
You know anything about stocks?
Can I teach you about crypto?
This concept photo shoot is the most
we've gone with our versatility.
For this new WILD era,
the girls are discovering
this next chapter of their lives.
And I think we're expressing that
in the visuals and in the creative.
They don't mind laughing at themselves.
And so we have fun with it.
We want to evolve, we want to explore,
we want to be creative,
try new things.
The vibes are so good.
I think we're all so excited.
-SIS me would not be...
-[exclaims]
No, like, SIS me? No. Imagine?
Going from SIS to BEAUTIFUL CHAOS
and to WILD,
it's really about them growing up.
As they evolve, we evolve with them.
You know, we're not trying to reference,
we're trying to create.
We always say there needs to be
a little bit of weirdness
or a little bit of strangeness.
We grew up so much since Debut.
I remember shooting EP 1.
I was making only one face
and I was just like...
And now I feel like I can pull up more...
a lot of different concepts,
so I really... I'm really loving it.
All the looks, all the transforming
that we've done today
has literally been so wild.
It's so cool being able to see
all of us in different forms.
The KATSEYE members are all unique
and they have their own point of views.
And those point of views help
to inform what we decide to do.
I think people are
really going to enjoy this EP.
We're taking it, like, so far.
We can't to show everyone
what we've been working so hard for.
[music playing faintly]
This was a long day, but to be honest,
it was good vibes.
We have three more looks today.
Yesterday we had like 50,000 looks
and 40,000 wigs.
Today we have three looks.
-Wow!
-Yoonch!
Wow!
She's going to want this video.
Yes.
I have no clue what time it is,
to be honest.
All I know is that the sun is down
and I'm here...
shooting.
We're growing a lot as creatives.
We all sent them a lot of inspo.
Just being a lot more fun and whimsical.
I think it's like the perfect step forward
for KATSEYE.
Just a little bigger.
Yeah, yeah.
A little bit more, a little bit more.
Not to toot my own horn,
but I do think I've always been
very solid in who I am
and what I bring.
Lara.
Lara... Queen.
She will make you watch her.
Like she will pull focus.
Lara's my favourite!
Lara's my favourite!
Lara, I hope you know
what an amazing job you're doing,
making younger brown girls feel
confident in their skin.
I always believe,
and my mom always tells me,
true confidence is like...
being able to be, like, confident
about others as well.
When you're truly in love with yourself,
that's how you love other people.
That's how you celebrate other people
without any jealousy.
Other people's wins excite you.
That's what makes a person beautiful
is when you can celebrate yourself
and everyone around you.
She is probably like my closest,
closest friend ever in my life.
Oh, my God! Those are extensions?
I look like me
before I came into the programme.
Yeah.
She just has so much love in her
and I'm just so lucky
that I'm like one of those people
that she wants to give it to.
Oh, my God, I miss this Lara.
I miss this Lara.
["Pinky Up" playing]
Her vocal ability, it's...
I always, like... Chills.
[singing]
And that's what wakes her up every day,
you know, to do art.
I have a studio in my house.
Having that every night
when I go home is just so nice.
I've been trying to write
for KATSEYE for so long.
That's been a huge goal of mine.
And I've sent the label so much,
so many things.
And when I look back,
I'm like, "Okay. Like,
the first things I sent them were so bad."
The rejection of those things I think
really, really, really taught me a lot.
We recorded so many different...
We recorded so much stuff.
That one and that one was good too.
Making a pop song is a whole skill.
It's actually a lot harder than people
think to write, like, a good pop song.
And I think it's a lot harder
than I thought too.
[vocal sample plays]
-Better.
-Better more, right?
-Yeah.
-Want to keep listening?
-Yeah.
-Put that one in.
[vocal track playing]
-"Oh, Dani" is good, right?
-Yeah, yeah.
-Well, can I hear "Oh, Dani" again?
-Yeah, let's listen.
[song continues]
It's called Unlove You.
I wrote it right before we went
on our first tour.
It's just my story about love.
And also, I tried to channel
a lot of the girl's stories as well.
Obviously, we've talked about this.
We talked so much about how we wanted
just a pure heartbreak song.
They were so supportive
and all really excited.
[singing]
-Okay!
-That was fire.
I'm so proud that Lara finally is
creating something good for us.
She created this beautiful song
and that's just a reflection
of what all of us are going through
in our own ways of...
finding our voice as artists
and having more involvement.
[singing]
The "lot of bad habits" was so good.
-Yeah.
-Great.
That's what we were yearning for,
something that came from us.
[song continues]
That "Couldn't"...
it's so like... "Couldn't"
[song continues]
Let me hear a cleaner one.
Instead of "moi".
[vocal track plays]
-Beautiful.
-[song continues]
I think it should be straighter.
-[mimics lyrics]
-Mm-hmm.
It's just like this really cool skill
that because of KATSEYE,
I have... been pushed to do.
This is me recording the girls' voices.
Dani?
So I was trying to take videos
so that no one would notice.
-[song continues]
-So good.
-[man exclaiming]
-That was so...
Hell yeah.
Yeah.
I'm really grateful and, like, happy
'cause it's like a barrier has been broken
and now we can all explore this more.
I have so much to say
and where else to put that but into art.
I love when Eyekons recognise
how much I love to create.
It makes me feel really seen.
I'm very appreciative of you guys
for that.
[fans clamoring]
The Eyekons are always very,
very supportive of anything.
You guys have been here with us
and stuck with us
and shown us so much loyalty.
I love you guys so much!
You are so talented.
I love all your songs.
[all clamoring]
Without the Eyekons, where would we be?
Literally nowhere.
Bye!
For the AMAs, we got three nominations.
We were... shocked.
-KATSEYE!
-[screams]
And then we won the three.
Genuinely did not expect that at all.
Oh, my God, this is so insane.
Thank you, Eyekons!
[man] Yay. Oh, my goodness.
Three wins.
Three wins.
Yeah. Oh, my God, I'm so shook.
I felt very grateful.
-Yeah.
-Yeah.
It's fans.
Yeah, like that made it really special.
Like, our fans are so powerful.
-Yeah, they really show up.
-Yeah.
That's like their award. It's not ours.
The Eyekons are just so invested,
they never let us down.
We love you.
I have encountered a lot of little girls
and a lot of them have either cried
or have been like, "You saved my life."
Damn.
Like, actually, like, damn.
Like, I love you guys so much.
The Eyekons have always meant hope for us.
Those are real people.
It's not some, like, bot.
Those are real people with real emotions
that show us support and give us love.
I still get very nervous
before I go on stage.
But when I start performing
and starting to see our fans,
my nervousness goes away.
I'm very grateful
and I want to give them
the best performance ever.

You girls are so talented.
Thank you for working so hard
for the fans all the time.
[speaking French]
-[song continues]
-[audiences cheering]
Our Eyekons
are such a huge reflection of us.
-Our Eyekons are so funny.
-They make me laugh all the time.
What did you just put in your pocket?
Guys?
They have the same humour as we do.
[song continues]
[exclaims]
This is car crash. This is...
Safety first.
I feel really called to make people feel
like they can see themselves
in me and in all of us.
So my girl, Sophia, you're representing
so much Filipino talent.
Also to represent
beautiful female friendship.
I love you guys so, so much.
[song continues]
Thank you for always being by our side
and defending us.
I can't wait to keep growing up
with you guys.
And I can't wait for you guys to see
everything that we have in store
because it's gonna get really crazy.
[song continues]
Let's go, Eyekons.
We've got places to be.
