Legend of the Forest (2025) Movie Script

1
- Hey.
- Hi.
What took you guys so long?
Oh, you know, she
takes a while to get ready.
He drives like an old man.
Hey, safety first, kids.
I don't think it's gonna fit back here.
Just stop it.
You do absolutely nothing here.
Get off your dead and do something.
Mow the lawn.
With my dead leg?
- Whatever.
- Is that what you want?
You need to figure it out
because I do everything around here.
Oh, I need to figure it out.
I take care of all the food.
- I take care of every-
- I need to figure it out.
Yeah, you like those disability
checks, don't you, Brenda?
Why are you being such a bitch to Steve?
Don't talk to me like that.
Screw you.
- You know what, Brenda?
- Just stop.
Everybody's had enough.
I don't wanna hear you.
The dog has had enough for you.
- The neighbors have had-
- Just stop.
You do absolutely nothing here.
Cassie Nicole, get your back here.
Cassie, Honey, don't leave.
You need to get your
shit together, both of you.
I'm sick of carrying this family.
What are talking about?
Every bit of this is your fault.
Hey.
What happened?
What always happens.
They get into a big fight
and then expect me to keep them together
and I just can't take this shit anymore.
Do you want to crash here tonight?
Yeah.
- And I changed my mind.
- About what?
Wow.
Forest looks so amazing.
Cassie, what do you think?
Uh, where's the bathroom?
Oh, perfect.
All right guys, let's
get this tent set up.
So what do we got on tap
for the next couple days here?
All right.
Okay guys, this right
here is where we are.
And this is The Giving Tree.
- Okay.
- That's where we're gonna
be going tomorrow.
What's The Giving tree?
Should you explain it or you want me to?
Yeah, you better tell her about it.
Okay.
So The Giving Tree is a very sacred place.
It's where other researchers have
experienced Sasquatch
coming and taking presents.
It's also called gifting.
Apples, little trinkets, things like that.
And Sasquatches come and take 'em.
Or deer or raccoons,
or any other animal that could
possibly live in the woods.
Fair enough.
That could happen.
Okay, but let me ask you a question.
Would a deer or a little raccoon leave
something in its place?
But there's other weird things
that happen at this place, all right?
It changes people.
Mm.
Tomorrow we're gonna go into town
and we're gonna get those apples,
and while we're down there,
we're also gonna do an interview
with a gal that had an experience
out near The Giving Tree.
Nice, that sounds like fun.
Mm-hmm.
I hope she'll have some more information
for us so that we can really narrow in
where the Sasquatch are and,
and prove that they exist.
What do you think?
I'm just along for the ride,
so whatever you guys
have planned, I'm down.
Alright.
So where did the idea
for this come from?
I mean, I get it.
Bigfoot is like popular
again, but why this film?
I don't know how to explain this to you,
but I myself had an encounter
with one of these being, okay.
When I was 10 years old, I was out,
my dad and I were building the house,
and he sent me outside to,
to get some water from the,
the spigot out back.
And when I went out there,
I was filling up my, my,
my jug of water and was feeling fine.
And then all of a sudden
I had this overwhelming
feeling of fear and dread come over me.
And it's like I could
feel it right behind me.
So I turned to where I
felt it was coming from.
And there were two red eyeballs
looking right back at me.
Okay?
And when it startled me, I jumped back
and hit the house and it stood up about
seven, eight feet tall.
Okay?
And then I screamed from my dad.
My dad saw it.
But ever since then,
I've just been dedicated
to proving the existence of these beings.
They are real and they do exist.
Look, I know, I know
you're an non-believer,
but what do you think, Cassie?
Well, you know,
I did see a unicorn on our way in here,
so I suppose I could believe.
Um, you know, I'm not
really sure what I believe.
My life hasn't really left me much room
for mythical creatures.
When all the other little
girls were pretending
to be princesses and mermaids,
I was just trying to
make sure my mom didn't
burn the house down when she passed out
with a lit cigarette in her hand.
Wow.
Well, Cassie, I hope
being out here gives you
the opportunity to, to
believe in something,
'cause we're gonna find this thing.
Good morning.
Seriously?
Dude, it is way too early for this.
Okay, you two, we
need to roll in half an hour.
All right, we're gonna need the audio
and video gear for today.
What crazy are we interviewing today?
Hey, what are you doing in here?
Come on.
What are you doing?
Stop.
We got an interview.
Getting ready for the interview.
You look fine. Come on.
You keep powdering like that,
you're gonna look like Casper.
Interview one. Scene A, take one.
Sarah, thank you so much.
Could you please tell us
about your first sighting?
Well, about 15 years ago,
I was riding my horse on a
trail ride and I glanced over
and I saw, saw something sitting on a log
with its back to me.
It was probably sand-colored
and I have a feeling it was female.
I don't know why, but it
was definitely Sasquatch.
I did a double take and it was gone.
Now did you, how did you feel
when you experienced
your, your first sighting?
Honestly, I wasn't scared at all.
I was startled and curious.
It happened so fast, but it didn't,
it didn't scare me at all.
About how far
into your property was this?
Well, gosh, it's almost 400 acres.
It was somewhere in the middle.
So it's not like I was in an area
where a person could have been.
And I've only ever seen coyotes and deer.
It certainly wasn't one of those.
And you said you
had another encounter as well?
Yeah, same place.
And this just happened
about two years ago.
I was riding my horse again
and what's important
to know about horses is they
can sense your feelings.
So if you're scared, your
horse will be afraid.
My horse was scared first.
We were riding our normal route
and in front of us was
nothing, no houses, no people.
It was a Sunday. I was
the only person there.
And he stopped and started wigging out.
And I was like, what is wrong with you?
And then I heard tree knocking
and I was familiar with Bigfoot
and I knew what that was.
And I stopped and I thought, okay,
let's just turn around
and go the other way.
So my horse and I turned around
a few hundred feet down the
way, heard it again on my left.
And that was terrifying.
I was so freaked out.
I imagined that there was
one on my, in the beginning,
talking to another one.
And I felt like they were surrounding me.
So me and my horse ran back to the barn.
I had to put him away, unpacking
him and putting him back.
I wanted so bad just to
leave him there and go home,
but I had to take care of my animal.
So I put him away
and I glanced up with our
herd, about 40 horses,
and they were all together
in a clump, all grouped up.
I have never seen horses do that before.
Hey, let's, let's go by the
store before we back to camp.
Yeah, I can use a bite to eat.
- All right.
- Let's do it.
Sweet.
Yeah.
Kind of like that blind face you have in
that Bigfoot myth.
It's not a myth.
Take care if you go into those woods.
The forest belongs to those creatures.
Respect them, you might get a glimpse.
Mock them, you'll get nothing.
Hey.
What was that about?
Nothing.
Just some creepy old man.
Can we go back to camp, please?
I'm not feeling well.
I'm gonna stay back and
see if I can sleep it off.
She'll be fine.
Nah.
Hey, can you gimme a hand on that side?
- Yeah.
- Thanks.
So, hey man, what's the
deal with you and Cassie?
Ah, Cassie. We go way back.
Her brother and I were best friends.
You know, little sisters.
After a while, we just got really close.
Right on.
All right, let's go put
up some more of these.
Okay.
Hey, what do you think about this spot
for the watch tonight?
Yeah, I can make this work.
Okay.
Let me get you the camera.
You remember how to use it, right?
- Yeah.
- Okay.
And please remember to
take the lens cap off.
Okay.
All right, you got your radio?
Yes.
We're good, all right.
I'll see you in a few hours.
Got it.
Josh to base.
This is base.
Go ahead.
I think I'm gonna head back to camp.
Is everything all right?
Yeah, we're good.
I'll see you in a few.
Copy that.
So what's up with you and Josh?
What do you mean?
You know, he told me about
how you guys met and you know,
sorry to hear about your brother.
Thanks.
Him and his girlfriend
went out for a hike to look
for some hidden cabin
and just disappeared.
My gosh, that's crazy.
Did they ever find any clues?
Just her backpack and that's all.
It's pretty much destroyed my mom.
Geez.
Well, I hope someday
you find some answers.
Hey, guys.
Hi.
I'm gonna hit the sack early tonight
'cause we got that interview tomorrow, so-
- Goodnight.
- Bye.
I think I'm gonna stay
here for a little bit.
Kevin tends to snore a lot.
I noticed.
So, kinda worried about my mom.
I mean you saw the huge fight
we got into before we left.
I, I feel like ever
since Brian disappeared,
drinking has just gotten so much worse
and I just don't know what to do anymore.
I wanna get her the help she needs,
but what do you think I...
What do you think I should do?
Well, I guess it's just
you and me, Sasquatch.
You sure you wanna do this?
You're not really the camping type.
Yes, I'm sure.
It'll be fun.
Anyway, wish me luck.
Could have used your help last night.
Cassie, Cassie, get back.
I'm talking to you.
Cassie.
Cassie, I said come down here now.
Hey, don't walk away from me.
How'd it go?
She needs to get help while I'm gone
or I'm moving out when I get back.
Cassie.
Cassie, wake up.
What time is it?
Time for bed.
Come on, let's go.
Hey, Josh.
I just picked up the last camera.
heading back to camp.
Copy that.
See you back at camp.
Alright.
- Hey.
- Oh, hey.
Find anything good on there.
Just starting to look, so hopefully,
hopefully we got something.
I hope so.
You were out there for a while.
Yeah.
What about that?
I don't know.
What is that?
Something, there's
a shadow or something.
I don't know, I'll mark
it and come back to it.
You know, Bigfoot goes
by many other names.
Sasquatch, Yowie, Yeti, Oma.
In the end, it all means
the same thing though.
Fake?
No, Cassie.
Wild man of the woods.
Cassie, come on.
Is this it?
Yeah, this is it.
Cassie to base, I'm here.
Are you okay?
Yeah, I'm okay.
Roger that.
Cassie, did you hear something?
Yes.
Cassie?
Cassie, are you okay?
What the hell, man?
What are you talking about?
You can't talk to her like that.
What are you grabbing the walkie-talkie
outta my hand for like that?
You just gotta be patient with her.
She said she was fine.
She's not fine.
She's freaking out out here.
Cassie?
Stay right there.
I'm coming.
Cassie, are you okay?
Here, let's just grab your
stuff and go back to camp.
Look, Kevin's backpack is gone.
And the camera.
Kevin?
Kevin!
He must have got mad about
last night or something.
Why? What happened?
We just got into it about something.
Let me guess.
About me?
Shit, I hope I didn't screw
things up between you two.
Nah, he, he just gets
into his head sometimes.
This whole Sasquatch
stuff, it consumes him.
I'm sure he'll be back later tonight.
So anyway, what's for breakfast?
Hey, is this Kevin's?
Yeah, that's Kevin's.
Man, no wonder he hasn't come back yet.
Well, should we be worried?
Nah, truthfully, he
doesn't need a compass.
He knows his way around the woods.
Ready to go?
Had a great time today.
Me too.
I'm worried about Kevin
though. Do you think he's okay?
I don't know.
It's not like him leave us like this.
I mean, he knows these
woods better than us,
so hopefully he comes back pretty soon.
Do you think we should look for him
before we go to bed tonight
or wait until tomorrow?
No, we should probably
wait until morning.
I'm hoping he will be back by then.
Where do you
see yourself in five years?
I don't know.
I mean-
Shh.
Do you hear that?
Are you trying to scare me right now?
No, listen.
Hey, guys, what's going on in here?
What the hell's going on in here?
What the hell's going on out there?
Where have you been all day?
We've been worried sick about you.
Yeah, sorry, guys.
I left this morning.
I didn't wanna wake you guys up
and I figured I'd be back by lunch, but-
You got lost?
- Typical.
- How'd you know?
'Cause we found your compass.
Anyway, you guys, I got great news.
I found footprints.
Real Sasquatch footprints.
Yeah, we're gonna go down tomorrow
and we're going to cast them.
I can't wait.
It's gonna be great.
Well, let's, let's get to bed
and then we'll get up early in the morning
and head out.
Yeah, sure.
We'll go tomorrow.
Watch your step there.
Yeah, this is good. We're close.
Josh, I've got an idea, man.
What if we stay here tonight?
I mean, this is close to
where I saw it, right?
Might be able to get
some audio, some video.
What do you mean stay here tonight?
Like go back, get our
stuff, and camp out here?
No, no.
We brought everything we need.
We've got the camera, we've got our food.
So just sleep on the ground?
We're not gonna be sleeping.
You can go back to camp.
You know, Kevin,
I've tried really hard these past few days
to get along with you, but I'm
getting really sick of this-
Look.
You go that way.
Kevin?
Kevin?
Should we go look for him?
Yeah, let's go.
Kevin!
What do we do?
I have no idea.
I don't even know where
we're at right now.
We can't just leave him here.
We'll mark the spot.
We'll come back for him.
Come on.
Come on.
Do you know where we are?
No.
No.
Don't recognize this area at all.
We're lost.
No.
No, we're not.
Trust me, okay?
Look.
This looks like something Kevin would do.
What is it?
It's a trail marker.
We're on the right path.
What the hell was that?
I don't know.
Did you see anything?
No.
It was too foggy.
You think it was a bear?
Something big.
Come on, let's keep going.
We need to find a place to sleep tonight.
Oh man.
I can't even just make sense
of what happened today.
What do you think happened?
Do you think that creature did something?
I don't know.
I know Kevin was really
intent on capturing
something on camera, but maybe he got
distracted and fell or something.
Josh, I'm scared.
What if whatever's out
there is following us?
Don't worry about it.
All right?
I'll stay awake and keep watch, okay?
Just get some sleep.
We're running outta light.
Let's just stay here for the night.
Why the hell would we stay
out here with that thing?
Right.
Let's just take a break.
Do you see that?
I see a tree.
No.
It looked like that
thing we saw with Kevin.
Well, I don't see anything.
I think you're just tired.
Come on.
Could have sworn I saw something.
I think someone's out there.
Come on, let's follow it
and see if it'll lead us back to camp.
Wait, Josh,
Stop moving.
Relax.
Let me see. Lay back.
Hey, hey, look at me.
Look at me.
Okay, I'm gonna pull the stick
out on the count of three.
- One, two-
- Ah.
Bitch, ah.
Put pressure on it.
Ah.
Let's get you up
so we can get, get the hell outta here.
We gotta stop.
Okay, let me see.
Okay.
We can stop here for the night
and I'll get you wrapped
up a little better.
You know, wet wood's never gonna light.
Well, we gotta try.
We came here with Kevin, right?
I think so.
We gotta be close.
All right, let's go.
Hey, wait up?
Oh my God.
Josh, look.
Come on.
Oh my God.
Josh, look.
There's food and wat...
Okay.
How bad is it?
It's not that bad.
Are you lying to me?
Would I do that?
It's okay.
I'm almost done.
Okay, I'm gonna go make some chicken soup.
Josh.
Josh, wake up.
You need to eat something.
Oh, that tastes terrible.
Thank you.
Come on.
I can't, I can't do it more.
Well at least drink some water.
After all this, you, you think we're
getting out on that date?
I think we're
at this point?
You feeling okay?
Yeah, I'm feeling better.
Just need some rest.
Well, that's good.
We'll stay here as long as you need to
feel better, and we are
gonna find our way home.
I love you.
I know.
Josh?
Yeah?
It's real.
What's real?
Bigfoot?
Wouldn't Kevin be laughing right now?
No.
Stop.
No, no.
Josh?
Josh.
Wake up.
Josh?
Josh?
Josh?
Josh.
You wanna go camping for a few days?
- Camping?
- Yeah.
Kevin wants to go out
and look for Sasquatch,
you know, put some footage
together for a documentary.
Let's do this.
To whoever finds this,
my name is Cassie Nicole.
Both of my friends are
dead and I'm sure I'm next.
I'm not sure how long I've been out here,
but one thing is for sure, I'm not alone.
I can't find my way out of here.
I need help soon or I'm going to die.
Please tell my mother I
love her and I'm so sorry.
You are not alone out here.
Cassie.
Why, why?
Let's go.
I'm nervous, but I'm so proud of you.
I know you need to do this.
Be careful.
I will, mom.
And I'm so proud of you.
Thank you.
Love you.
I love you too.
I'm gonna miss you so much.
Gonna miss you too?
I love you guys.
Love you too.
I'm gonna miss you.
