Lexi (2022) Movie Script

(knocking)
(foreboding introductory music)
(knocking)
Lex.
Lex, are you here?
Lex, come on.
(knocking)
Lex.
Just answer the door.
Come on, come on.
[Officer] Hi, Melissa Martinez?
Yeah.
- Hi.
- [Officer] Hey.
So you're the one that called
about a missing friend, right?
Yeah. Yeah, that was me.
Is this your house or is
this your friend's house?
- No, it's her house.
- [Officer] It's her house.
[Officer] Okay. What's her name?
- Her name is Lexi.
- [Officer] Okay.
Have you been inside?
No.
[Officer] Do you have a key?
Does she let you inside on your own?
She normally lets me
in. I don't have a key.
[Officer] Okay.
Any signs of forced entry?
Like a break-in, any broken
windows or broken glass
or anything?
No. I mean, I've
looked all the way around
to see if I could get in, but
there's literally nothing.
[Officer] Okay.
When's the last time you spoke to her?
It's been a few weeks
since I saw her in person,
but we made plans like last
week and she's not answering
any of my texts or calls. So...
[Officer] Is that normal for her
to not answer calls for a while?
No. No, it's not.
[Officer] Has she been
acting differently lately?
Do you notice or has she
gotten into any fights
with friends?
I mean, no-
- [Officer] Do you think she is in danger
of hurting herself?
I mean, she's been
going through a hard time.
- [Officer] Okay.
- So I'm a little,
a little stressed out
about her not answering.
[Officer] Are you in contact
with any of her family?
Does she have parents nearby?
I mean, she has her mom,
but her mom doesn't live here.
So it's mostly me and our
friends and I've called
all of them and they don't know anything.
[Officer] Okay.
All right. So here's
what we're going to do.
We'll take a missing persons report.
Just sit tight here.
Let me go to the car and get the form
and then we'll get started. Okay?
Okay.
- [Officer] All right.
- Thank you.
[Officer] Sure.
[Narrator] It's been 12
days since the disappearance
of 29 year old inspirational
YouTuber and blogger,
Alexandra Mancini known to
her fans as Laughing Lexi.
The strange details
surrounding her disappearance
have left her fans, the
community and the internet,
flabbergasted.
Theories abound, but authorities
say they are no closer
to discovering what actually
happened than they were
when she was first reported missing.
(menacing music)
Hey Lexicons. It is time
for your daily reminder.
You are loved.
(cheerful music)
Hey Lexicons. Welcome back.
I am here with some insanely
exciting personal news
to share with you guys.
I just bought my very first home!
Can you believe it?
I am officially an adult
or something like that.
Anyway, here it is.
It's even blue,
which you guys know is my
absolute favorite color.
And look,
I have a yard for my dogs
running around in finally.
I just want to say that I am proof
that if you set your mind to a goal,
you can achieve it. I promise.
And of course I have to give
the biggest shout out ever
to my entire Lexicon crew.
You guys are the best and there's no way
I could have done this without
your incredible support.
So thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you.
I bought a house!
(foreboding music)
Hello. My name is Elara Pumpernickle.
I'm the author of "That Ain't Lexi."
Lexi was a very open person by
the nature of her profession.
It was all about sharing
herself, her philosophies,
her tips and tricks to
living a happier life.
And because of that,
we can truly see a stunning
transformation occur in Lexi.
Some will say this transformation
was brought on by stress
or by a chemical imbalance in her brain.
But I believe that this change
was brought on by dark forces.
Dark forces that converged in the place
that was supposed to be her haven.
Hey Lexicons. It's time
for your daily reminder.
You are beautiful.
(somber music)
Yeah. I'll count myself in.
Thank you, when I'm ready.
Three, two.
You know, Lexi had the whole
wholesome-girl-next-door thing
going on.
And her channel was centered
around self-improvement,
positive thinking, all
that new yeah-yeah crap.
I mean her handle was "Laughing
Lexi" for Christ's sake.
But clearly someone didn't
like what she was selling.
(cheerful music)
Happy Wednesday, Lexicons.
Welcome back.
Today I want to talk to
you about the importance
of setting your intentions.
This is one of the most
powerful things that you can do
each and every day to help
set you off on the right path.
This is my journal.
You can call it a gratitude
journal or an intention journal
or whatever you want.
I write in it first thing every morning.
I list three things I'm grateful for,
followed by three of my
intentions for the day.
Now keep in mind that this is
absolutely not a to-do list.
This is for intentions,
which are very different.
Let me give you some examples.
I want to practice being
present in the moment.
I want to move my body.
I want to take in the beauty of nature.
I want to help my loved
ones feel supported.
These are all examples of intentions.
So I don't want to see
anything in this journal about
picking up the mail or
swinging by the store
or doing your laundry. Okay?
Save those for the ugly notebooks.
And that is all.
Be sure to comment below
with some of your intentions.
Don't forget to like and subscribe.
And of course keep laughing
because at the height
of laughter, the universe
is flung into a kaleidoscope
of new opportunities.
Thanks Lexicons. See you next time.
Lexi, I cannot believe
that you are missing.
You have done so much for me,
your positivity and encouragement.
Well, I finally got the
courage to quit my job
and I moved to California.
Look, Palm trees.
I hope you are out there
somewhere and safe.
If it wasn't for Lexi,
I'd still be stealing money
on the collection plate.
I've seen every
episode of Law and Order.
I know murder when I see it.
Lexi, if you're still alive, call me.
Hey, Lexicons.
It is time for your daily reminder.
You can do anything you set your mind to.
Hi, I'm Camille and
I'm a social media maven.
So Lexi and I go way back. We
met in 2016 at the Webby's,
when we were both nominated
in the same category.
We even used to do videos together.
Her content back then was all
like positivity, positivity,
positivity.
Like, okay girl, we get it.
Lexi wanted everybody to think
that she was this constantly
upbeat and positive person
always looking on the bright side
But let's be real.
Nobody's sunshine and
daisies all the time.
It's just not realistic.
Maybe the stress of
pretending finally got to her.
He Lexicons.
I am coming to you once again
from the animal shelter.
I just want to remind you
that there are so many ways
that you can serve your community.
If you have time, volunteer.
If you have money, donate it.
If you have resources, use them.
I, as you know, I'm a huge animal lover.
So I've been volunteering
at the shelter for years
because there are so many
awesome furry friends looking
for new homes that need love
and exercise in the meantime.
Keep your eyes peeled for my latest blog,
where I'm going to be talking
all about being of service.
So check that out.
In the meantime, bye for me and Bumbeline.
(cheerful music)
Hi Lexicons. Happy
Wednesday and welcome back.
Today I'm going to give you
one of my favorite life hacks
to make yourself feel better.
Surprise! It's helping other people.
One of the best ways that you
can make yourself feel better
is to figure out how you can be of service
to your community.
So if you're feeling particularly
low or down in the dumps,
shift the focus away from you
and towards helping others.
Ask yourself, "What skills do I have?
What knowledge do I have?
What resources or contacts do I have
that could help someone else?"
I guarantee you that once
you've done something nice
for your community and your tribe,
the good vibes that you put
out there into the world
will return to you tenfold.
Besides, in this era of
self-obsession where we're always
trying to be the prettiest
and the shiniest thing,
it can feel so good to stop
worrying about ourselves
and instead lend the best
pieces of us to someone else.
So that's it. Get out there and help out.
Let me know in the comments,
the ways that you plan to be
of service to your community.
Don't forget to like and subscribe.
And of course keep laughing
because as soap is to the
body, laughter is to the soul.
Thanks Lexicons. See you next time.
Hi Lexi.
My name's Corey and I just
really wanted to let you know
how much your motivational
videos have really
helped me out in my everyday life.
Hi Lexi. I love you.
Your videos have inspired me so much.
Because of you I was able to
go into my local coffee shop
and ask out the barista.
He said he wasn't interested in my type,
but that's okay. I was able to do it.
I hope you're safe.
We miss you.
I wanted to jump on
here and let you know
how much your videos mean to me.
They've inspired me so much
with being able to visualize
the future that I want for myself.
I've actually started a new career path.
And I just hope that wherever you are
that you're doing okay.
It's dark in here.
Where are you at?
It's been a little while
since the last time
you post a video.
Hopefully you are doing okay.
I love you Lexi.
Hi, Lexi. I love you
and I love your videos.
I just wanted you to know
how much of an impact
you've made on me.
I just submitted my book
of poems to a publisher
for the first time. And
I really owe that to you.
I just hope that you're out
there somewhere watching this
and that you know how
much we care about you.
I hope we see you again soon.
Hey Lexicons.
So I just got back from the
post office and I had the cutest
little package waiting for
me there, from one of you.
I can't thank you enough. It is so cute.
And it says, "Happy house warming."
And it has a little sticky also that says,
"Please open me on video."
So I thought I would do that for you.
I will read the card first.
Hopefully it's okay to
read the card on camera.
So it says "Laughing Lexi,
from your biggest fan."
"Dear Lexi. Thank you
for being my inspiration.
Congrats on your new house.
Wanted to give you a house warming gift.
XOXO V AKA your number one Lexicon."
That is so cute.
Thank you so much. So sweet.
All right. Let's see what we got.
It's very light.
Seems, I don't know. I have
no idea what this could be.
Let's see what it is.
Sometimes I like to
save the wrapping paper,
but we're just going to rip
this bad boy up and rethink.
Okay, the box isn't giving anything away.
This is a Amazon box.
Trusty scissors nearby.
Let's get this bad boy open.
I am not good at opening presents.
Okay, here we go.
Lets try that again.
Its...
That's so sweet. Thank you so much.
It's so thoughtful.
I really appreciate it. Thank you.
Okay. Come on.
Somebody sends you a
mannequin head in a box
and your only response is,
"Thanks for the house warming gift."
Newsflash.
Nobody is that chipper.
I know I'm not the only one thinking it.
(ominous music)
It's clear that Lexi was
super brave for putting out
that kind of content,
thinking that like, you know,
it doesn't have to be
good to be on YouTube.
I don't know why anybody
would go to her channel anyways.
Let's be honest.
Self-improvement people are crazy.
They're always trying to
fix everyone else's life,
when their life is in shambles.
My two cents, she was
annoying when she was blogging.
She went away, life got better.
Morning Lexicons. I'm here
with your daily reminder.
This day is full of possibilities.
Okay. First of all,
I would just like to go
on the record and say that
the only reason I'm doing this
is so that someone involved
in this project actually
gives a crap about Lexi.
I'm not here with a clever theory.
I'm not trying to sell books.
I just want to know once and for all,
what happened to my friend?
I guess you could say
that Lexi didn't have
the happiest childhood.
It was just her and her mom, which I mean,
you think that would make them close,
but their relationship was complicated.
It really bothered Lexi.
She wanted so badly for
her mom to be proud of her.
I honestly think that that's...
You know what, it's not my place to say.
Hey, Lexicons. Time
for your daily reminder.
You are awesome.
Look, anyone who puts themselves
out there in the public eye
is bound to end up with their
fair share of supporters
and detractors.
I mean, the more people who
know you or know of you,
the more people who may
want to inflict harm on you.
It's just statistics.
We don't know who it was
that hacked her accounts,
but we definitely know whoever they were,
they wanted to make Lexi squirm.
Okay. So Stephie C wants to know,
do I have any tips for productivity?
Yes, I totally do.
Routine, routine, routine,
especially first thing in the morning.
So I think really waking up
at the same time every day
and starting your day
the same way regardless,
especially getting into something good.
That really sets you off,
whether it's yoga or meditation
or working out.
Really being consistent in
doing that to start your day
is an excellent way to
help you really like,
carry that momentum into
your day and be productive.
For me, I like to get up,
I like to walk my dogs
and eat and then I work out
and then I dive into my day.
Okay. And MishiMishi wants to know,
do I have any health tips?
Totally.
I think one of the best things
you can do for your health
is to figure out how
to reduce your stress.
Everyone says that, right? But
what the heck does that mean?
So you got to find an outlet,
whatever that is for you.
If that is exercise, if that's
spending time in nature,
if it's volunteering, if it's, you know,
watching trashy TV or reading funny books,
whatever it is that really
makes you relax and feel better,
find that outlet, stick
to it, do it often,
so you can reduce your stress.
And something a little easier to do,
drink two glasses of water with lemon,
first thing every morning.
Super duper good for you.
Okay. Iheartmimosas want
to know which dog is this?
"She's really cute."
Aw, thank you.
This is Salami. And I think
she's adorable as well.
CameramanKev wants to know
do I like when people watch me sleep?
Okay.
Let's not be the kid that ruins
it for everybody and makes
everybody have to stay after
class and go to detention.
Right? I love doing these IG lives,
but I'm not going to do it if
people are weird and creepy,
so let's just not do that.
Okay. So I think that's going
to be all for this time, guys.
Thank you so much for joining
and I'll talk to you soon.
Bye from me and Salami.
(foreboding music)
Hey Lexicons.
Okay. So I know I promised you a new video
on my channel today, but
apparently something is going on
with my account because I am locked out.
Mercury must be in retrograde
because I am definitely
having technology problems.
But don't worry, I'm going
to do my best to get it all
sorted out and get that new
video up there for you A-S-A-P.
Sorry that I won't be able
to respond to your comments
in the meantime. Just
know that I love you.
And remember, keep laughing.
When the sleeping webcam
video popped up online,
everybody went batshit crazy.
And I get it, it's pretty creepy.
But I mean, how hard would it
be to do something like that
yourself and then post
the video on YouTube?
How long does it actually take
to set up another account?
Four minutes, six tops.
People need to calm down of all this.
(cheerful music)
Hey, Lexicons. Welcome back.
Okay. So I know this is
not what you come here for.
You want to be inspired and motivated,
and I want to continue
to do that for you too.
But right now I need to
talk to you Lexicons.
Someone is messing with me.
Some of you may already
know what I'm talking about.
Last night, there was
a video posted of me.
Apparently it was recorded by my webcam,
but I did not post it.
I mean, I'm clearly sleeping in the video.
It doesn't make any sense.
I mean, why would the webcam even turn on?
I don't know what's going on,
but I'm thinking that maybe one of my fans
or my friends is playing a prank.
Maybe somebody hacked into
my webcam and recorded me,
thinking it would be funny.
If that's the case,
please just let me know.
You can leave a comment
below or you can send me a DM
if you don't want it to be public.
I won't be mad, okay? I promise.
I just want to know what's going on.
And if this is just a joke, let's,
let's just let that joke die. Okay?
I hope you can understand
where I'm coming from.
Thanks.
Hopefully we can be done with this
and get back to business as usual.
I'll see you soon.
[Nate] The Internet
of Things. Heard of it?
It's definition has evolved
and changed over time
due to the convergence
of numerous technologies.
But basically it's a
system of interrelated,
computing devices, mechanical
and digital machines
provided with UIDs and the
ability to transfer data
over a network without
requiring human to human
or human to computer interaction.
See, if everything is
connected in a web of networks
and digital communication systems,
then everything can also be hacked.
Lexi didn't know that by
installing those cameras,
she was actually just making
the hacker's job easier.
Seriously? No one is
even going to believe that.
Like, what is she even talking about?
She should just be quiet.
Like who really thinks this was true?
Like, all this stuff that
she's saying is happening,
a little far-fetched.
I mean, she's just wanting
attention, like always.
Man, you know Lexi's lyin'.
That thirst trap will do
anything for attention.
(mechanical whirring noise)
(mechanical whirring noise)
As a fellow influencer,
I know firsthand how
addicting the flurry of likes
and comments and online attention can be.
I mean, everybody wants
to be liked, right?
Duh! It's just human nature.
But to some people,
it just becomes like a drug
and they have to keep taking
more drastic, drastic
steps to get their high.
Making up some story about
a hacker out to get you.
Whatever!
It just drums up sympathy.
We miss you so much.
Please Lexi, just come home.
You changed my life in the best ways.
You really inspired me.
I love you.
Because of you, I,
I went back to my biggest
passion which is makeup.
Because your videos were so
inspiring and so positive.
I couldn't have done it without you.
Hey, Lexicons. It's time
for your daily reminder.
You are powerful.
Let's talk a little bit
about some of the people
who lived in that house before Lexi.
Namely Marla and Samuel Simmons.
They moved to that house in 1996.
Marla was a guidance counselor,
Samuel, a photographer.
By 1998, Samuel had gone missing.
No note, no letter, no sightings, no body.
Gone, never to be heard from again.
And there was only one
suspect in his disappearance,
Marla Simmons.
She was never arrested.
Without any evidence, authorities
were never able to build
a case against her,
but Marla lost her job.
People suspected foul play.
Did she murder him?
Did he run off with another
woman? Nobody knows.
But what we do know is
that Marla became a recluse
and then five years later,
her body was found in the house dead.
It was ruled a suicide by pills. Was it?
The unjust suspicions of her community
or was she stricken by crippling guilt?
Only that house knows the truth.
(cheerful music)
I guess here we go again.
I saw the video online like everyone else.
I've been trying to get
them to take it down,
they won't.
And I don't know why some
people are acting like
I would stage this whole thing myself.
Why?
Why would I do that?
It's obvious that something is going on.
I live alone.
I don't know where
those flashes came from.
I don't know if that means
that someone was in my house.
This time I called the police.
They took a report.
But they said there's
no evidence of anything
and they can't even be
sure that someone was here.
I don't know what's going
on, but whatever it is,
it is not my doing?
I swear, this is not some publicity stunt.
Nobody wants this to stop more than me.
Who or what is in that house?
All right, she said it herself.
She doesn't live with anybody
and there's no signs of forced entry.
And even if it was a person,
are they taking pictures?
What are they taking pictures
of? Was that a camera flash?
Is it just a coincidence
that Samuel happened to be a photographer?
It's time people get their
heads out of their asses
and realize there are
other forces at work.
Not just in Lexi's
house, but all around us.
(receiver beeps)
[Speaker on phone] Hey girl, its me.
I know it's been a minute,
we've both been super busy.
But I miss you and I was hoping you could
come over for girls night soon.
We can eat way too much junk
food and watch trashy TV.
What do you say?
Hit me know and let me know
what your schedule looks like,
okay?
I love you. Bye.
(loud thud)
Hello?
Someone there?
(loud thud continues)
Whoever is there, you should
know I'm gonna call the police.
Please just get out. I am
calling the police right now.
(creaking sound)
Okay. If none of that stuff was staged
and she was really so freaking terrified,
then why not just move
out of the house already?
Please!
You ask me, it's like this.
The lifestyle's addictive
and there are times
when I wonder if I'm
addicted to it myself.
The likes, the clicks, the attention,
the instant gratification.
Some people will just do anything
to cut through the clutter.
Lexi would never
admit it to just anyone,
but she struggled a lot
with feelings of loneliness.
Even though she's this internet sensation,
she didn't have a lot of family
and none of them live near her anyway.
And there weren't a lot
of close, genuine friends
in her life.
So when things started to spiral for her,
I don't think she felt like she had
many people she could turn to.
[Automated voice] Salutations.
You've reached the
voicemail of Sophia Sky.
World renowned spiritual guide
and essence practitioner.
Please leave a message
and I will reply at my
earliest convenience.
Stay blessed.
(receiver beeps)
[Lexi] Hi, my name is Lexi.
I've, I've left a few other messages,
but I haven't heard back from you yet.
I was hoping that you could
help me out with my new house.
I just...
I could really use some help.
So I'm hoping that you
will call me back, please
if you're taking on new clients.
Again, my name is Lexi
and you can make me at 858-663-0 (beeps)
Thank you.
(clattering)
(sobbing)
(cheerful music)
Hey, Lexicons. Welcome back.
Okay. I know things
have been crazy lately.
And I also know that you
don't come here for drama.
This is not supposed to
be a reality TV show.
And I want to be better
about continuing to provide
the kind of content that
you really want to see.
So I promise that I'm going to do
my absolute best going forward.
First I just want to say
that I have received some
incredibly kind and supportive
messages from so many of you
and it really just means the
world to me. So thank you.
Okay.
Let's try to get back to some
sense of normalcy, shall we?
Today I want to talk to you
about how you can create
an environment that allows you to thrive.
And something that I've
found really helpful for this
is creating three
different types of lists.
I know, I know! Lexi and
her lists! Yes, I'm guilty.
Now for these three lists,
one is a Start list.
One is a Continue list
and one is a Stop list.
And they are exactly what they sound like.
So the Start list is a list of things
that you want to begin doing.
The Continue list is a list of things
that you want to keep doing.
And the Stop list is the list of things
that you no longer want to do.
Things that don't serve you.
And it's important that
these not be lofty goals
that seem unattainable.
It should be things that you
can really, really, really
put your mind to and things
that are easily achievable.
So some examples,
I want to start doing yoga
for 20 minutes every morning.
I want to continue to read
every night before bed.
I want to stop scrolling
mindlessly through social media.
Or I guess in my case, I want to stop
allowing unseen forces
or people to consume
my time and energy.
Okay. So that is it.
Be sure to let me know in the comments,
some of the things that
you are going to be
putting on your lists.
Of course if you haven't
already, remember to subscribe.
And keep laughing, because
laughter is an instant vacation.
The thing is her fan base blew up.
She was already huge,
but the sympathy for her,
the whole big, brave
Lexi soldiering on thing,
they ate it up.
So of course she kept the
act going. Who wouldn't?
It's just smart business.
(music playing in background)
Listen.
Hello?
Hello?
I'm going to call the police.
I'm recording this.
I recorded the song.
I've got proof.
One unexplained
phenomenon after another.
That is, if you're looking
for simple explanations
that tie things up in a nice, neat bow.
I really hope you're safe.
Please come back to us.
We really miss you Lexi.
I just, I'm a really
big fan of yours and,
and I miss watching your videos.
You know, I hope you're doing okay.
I hope to see you back soon because,
because you were actually the
reason why I was brave enough
to come out to my family.
And if it wouldn't have been
for your videos, you know,
I would never have been able to do that.
So I just, I just, I
wanted to say thank you
and I hope to see your videos soon.
I hope you come back soon.
All right. Peace.
[Lexi] Hey Mom. It's me, Lexi.
Alexandria.
I know you hate that I go by Lexi.
"I did not name my daughter Alexandria
just have people calling her Lexi!"
Anyway, I know it's been a
while. More then a while.
But I was thinking that maybe
I would come home and visit,
finally.
Whenever is good for you.
So, just call me back
and we can chat. Okay?
Okay. Love you.
Well, up until the IG live video,
there was a very large,
very loud segment of people
who insisted Lexi was making it all up.
That nothing was really going on.
The whole thing was some
sort of elaborate ruse.
Why?
Well, there are different
schools of thought on that.
Boredom, publicity,
sympathy, mental health.
And the possibilities were endless.
But when the IG live video was posted,
lots of people changed their tune.
Of course, some insisted.
She just had help.
(cheerful music)
I've been trying so hard Lexicons.
There is something
unexplainable happening to me,
but I have been really
trying to stay strong
and power through for all
of you and for myself.
But it just won't stop.
It's just one thing after
another, after another,
after another, and now
there's the latest one.
Let me play it for you.
That video was posted to
my IG live and not by me.
It was live and I'm sleeping on my couch.
What does that mean?
Does that mean not only
is somebody hacking me
and bugging me and listening to me,
but they're also watching me?
I don't know what to do.
I don't know who to trust.
I don't know who to talk to.
I called the police again.
All they did was fill out another report.
They said there was still
no sign of forced entry.
They basically made me
feel like they think
I'm a drama queen or a liar.
Just like some of you are making me feel.
I am so tired of asking,
but I will ask again,
whoever is doing this, please stop.
Just stop!
And to my fans, I ask
you now more than ever,
please just support me and believe me.
Believe me.
[Lexi] Nobody wants
it to stop more than me.
[Elara] Doubt is a very small word
with very big consequences.
If others constantly doubt us,
then it follows that we
begin to doubt ourselves.
And if we doubt ourselves,
our own eyes, ears,
and experiences, what then can we rely on?
Yeah, I'll be honest with you.
Before this whole thing, I
had no idea who Lexi was.
I don't think I'm exactly
her target demographic.
But then one of my friends
told me about these
crazy fetish videos that
popped up on the internet.
This link started
circulating on social media.
You could just download
these videos free of charge.
Yeah, I clicked on it!
I wanted to see what
all the fuss was about.
And the fetish videos were
my introduction to Lexi.
They were so odd that I went back
and started watching her YouTube channel.
And before you knew it, I
was knee deep in the saga.
[Cameraman] Pretend you're
really, really cold. Sell it.
Okay.
Okay.
(shivering)
It's freezing in here.
Can't feel my fingers or my toes.
Oh, I wish I could just
warm up by the fireplace
or jump in the jacuzzi.
[Cameraman] More shivering.
Yeah.
Like that.
Oh my God. When that first video leaked,
everybody and their mother
was like, what is this?
It was so weird and like,
mega mega embarrassing.
Doing some kind of garage
fetish porn or something
was totally against brand for Lexi.
I mean, with somebody
who's really trying to live
the best version of
themselves ever be caught dead
doing something so grimy.
And she had that awful wig on.
I mean, who was she trying
to fool? It was clearly her.
I mean, at that point,
even I thought somebody might
actually be messing with her.
Either that, or she just like
completely lost her mind.
I didn't spend much
time concerning myself
with those things.
And they were merely a
diversion and not even
a very good one if you ask
me, which obviously you are.
So, in my opinion whoever
released those videos, did it
to distract us from what's
really going on in that house.
(whirring sound)
I don't know what is going on.
I don't know what's going on.
The timing of her sharing
that video was super suspect.
Okay, so the first
fetish video gets leaked
and then this evening creepier thing
just happens to happen to her right after.
How convenient!
But nobody about the fetish vid.
The internet was still buzzing.
Everybody was certain,
there had to be more.
So by the time the second one leaked,
everybody was ready and waiting.
Oh Mr. Bear, you're just so cuddly.
I could cuddle with you all day.
[Cameraman] Now give
him the bear a kiss.
Now, suck your thumb.
People have been wondering
if and when Lexi would address the videos.
Of course, she tried to take
the high road and spin it into
this positive example of
realness and honesty or whatever.
Those videos happened
at a low point in my life.
I was between jobs. I needed money.
I had no direction. I was unhappy.
I knew I wanted to start my own channel,
but I didn't have money for
any of the equipment I needed.
I was hoping to get into
promotional modeling
for some quick cash.
I saw an ad. I clicked on it.
He told me what he
wanted to film me doing.
I agreed and I got paid.
I know what those videos look like,
but they helped me get back on my feet.
They helped me get
started on this journey.
So whoever posted them,
I want to say thank you.
Because you reminded me to
embrace my whole journey,
the highs, as well as the lows.
I think she was hoping
that would make them stop.
No such luck for Lexi!
So just like, talk about the pie?
[Cameraman] Dip your finger in
and talk about the whipped cream.
Ooh, it's so fluffy and soft.
It's just so sweet and yummy.
[Cameraman] Now smash
your face into the pie.
What?
[Cameraman] You heard me.
Smash your face into the pie.
Oh, the guy in the videos.
Yeah, yeah. He was the first
person the cops brought in
when she was officially
considered missing.
I mean, it makes sense, right?
How can they not bring him in?
Apparently the guy is some
weird fetish film producer.
He's into all sorts of weird stuff.
But the police say he had nothing to do
with Lexi's disappearance.
Airtight alibi, apparently.
Report also said, there's
no reason to believe
that he was the one
that posted the videos.
If you think about it, why would he?
Why post something for free?
We have all sorts of people
willing to pay you for it.
(cheerful music)
Hey Lexicons.
So today's video is going
to be a little different.
As I'm sure, most of you know,
there has been a lot
going on with me lately.
And I'm really trying to
figure out how to balance
all of this stuff with how I
communicate with all of you.
I've always prided myself on transparency,
being honest and open in sharing with you.
And I want to continue to
do so, for better or worse.
Last video, I mentioned
that I'm really going to do
my best to embrace my whole journey.
Part of that is coming
to terms with who I am
and being willing to
admit when I need help.
So I've decided to start seeing someone.
Now, lots of people, way
more than you'd think,
talk to someone for all kinds of reasons.
To help them cope with loss and trauma,
or just to help them understand themselves
and the things that make them tick better.
I'm no different.
I just want to be upfront
with you about my journey,
even the parts that
are hard to talk about.
I don't mean this to be a call for help,
but just to set an example.
For anyone out there, going
through something similar
to know that they are not alone.
Everyone feels scared and
frustrated and unsure sometimes.
And it is totally okay to ask for help.
(door slams)
Help.
Please.
Just help.
Help me.
From the moment she
started her YouTube channel,
Lexi had been posting a
new video every Wednesday.
And she never missed a
Wednesday, even on holidays.
That is like 210-211 straight Wednesdays
that Lexi delivered a video.
Then all of a sudden
she missed a Wednesday.
And then another.
And another.
And she didn't post a new
content for five weeks.
And then on that sixth Wednesday,
she posted a new video.
(cheerful music)
How do you like being watched?
After the hiatus, shit got weird.
(cheerful music)
Okay!
Counting down.
Ten,
nine,
eight,
seven,
six,
five,
four,
three,
two,
one.
Ready or not? Here I come.
Where are you?
Where are you?
I'm gonna find you.
No, where are you?
No!
Where are you?
I'm gonna find you.
Where's she Butters? Where?
Vanessa, you fell over.
That's no place for you.
(cheerful music)
I'm giving you people everything.
What more do you want?
I opened up to you. I was
honest and transparent.
I shared everything. My thoughts, myself,
my entire freaking life.
I invited you into my journey.
My journey.
And you!
You judge me.
You, you ridicule me.
You shame me.
I feel like I'm living in a Petri dish.
Is that what this is?
Some social experiment?
"How much can we take from Lexi?
How much, how much can
we put her through?"
I just...
I wanted to do good.
I am good.
I wanted to help people.
I wanted to help all of you.
And you, you, well.
This is what you made.
This is your doing, not mine.
Enjoy the show, assholes.
This bitch.
Hey listen, I'm no
mental health professional,
but it's clear that stress was
getting to her at that point.
(cheerful music)
Happy Wednesday, Lexicons.
My name is Vanessa. As you
can see Lexi isn't here today.
She had to take a mental health
day because you jerk faces
have been so mean to her.
She found all sorts of
posts and threads online,
where people were saying nasty things.
Things like, "Hopefully
the ghosts will scare her"
into quitting this stupid YouTube channel.
The fact that this girl
thinks she's qualified
to give anyone advice is funny AF.
I bet you post things on Instagram,
about your glow up from high school
while listening to Taylor Swift.
Can we start a GoFundMe to support
whoever is trying to kill this chick?
She looks like the version of Blake Lively
that's on clearance at the dollar store.
You look like the kind of
girl that tells every guy,
'I have a boyfriend',
whether they ask you or not.
Nice tits, too bad there's a rest of you.
You look like Rapunzel,
except instead of letting
your golden hair down,
"you let everyone in your life down."
These are mean posts. So
Lexi had to take the day off.
See you next time.
Let me tell you about this chick I know.
She's used to call herself Krafty Karen,
and of course Krafty
was spelled with a "K".
So Karen's YouTube channel had like
a quarter of a million followers.
And then all of a sudden one
day she just goes missing.
And everybody's like, "Oh my
God, where's Krafty Karen?"
The local news is interviewing people
and her mom's on TV crying.
"If you have any information
about my daughter,
blah, blah, blah."
And then two weeks later, they find her.
Shacking up with her ex-boyfriend,
turned her on God knows what?
Surrounded by bags of Flamin
Hot Cheetos apparently.
And by the time she was found,
her quarter of a million
followers had ballooned over a million.
So therapists might
call it a cry for help,
but I just call it good marketing.
(cheerful music)
Lexicons. Lexicons.
Thanks for watching, Lexicons.
Welcome back. Welcome back.
Happy Wednesday. Welcome back.
Keep laughing. Keep laughing.
Keep laughing no matter what.
Matter what, matter what.
Keep laughing no matter what.
Lexicons, Lexicons.
Thanks for watching Lexicons.
Welcome back. Welcome back.
Happy Wednesday. Welcome back.
Keep laughing, keep laughing.
Keep laughing no matter what.
Well, people started to
speculate about her mental state.
They were saying she was off her meds,
but that is not what it was.
She was no longer Lexi.
Something had her, something
that wanted to do her harm.
It was destroying her from within.
I do not throw around the
word "Possession" lightly,
but it has to be considered,
especially after the makeup video.
(cheerful music)
Hi boys and girls.
Today we're going to be pretty.
Because nobody likes things that are raw
and honest and flawed.
People want things that
are pretty, pretty, pretty!
Step one, lipstick.
Step two, eye shadow.
Step three, blush.
Step four, fluff your hair.
And step five, smile.
And she'd been declared
missing for six days, before
someone posted more footage
from her security cameras.
There was some pretty
private stuff in there.
Don't mind me. I'm dropping shit.
The thing about those videos is,
it's clear she had no
idea she was being filmed.
It's obvious.
And the timing of these
videos getting released
is suspicious.
First, she goes missing.
Then these weird videos
are released that prove
someone had been watching
her without her knowledge.
What more evidence do we need?
She was hacked.
Not just her computer, her entire house.
She was hacked and someone was releasing
private footage of her.
The only question is,
who?
The knee-jerk reaction to
something that befuddles us
and frightens us is to dismiss
it offhand is impossible.
But I would argue, that which
we feel the most resistance to
is in fact the most real.
Why else would we expend
so much energy attempting
to deny its very existence?
I checked the metadata.
Those videos were taken during the time
she wasn't posting to her channel.
Oh, I believe she was filming herself,
but I don't believe that's Lexi.
It's her body, it's her face,
but she's being used by something
else, something not human.
Something that wants to
destroy her from the inside.
Sure, it looks like Lexi,
but that ain't Lexi.
You can't battle the
spirit world by yourself.
Especially if you don't
have the proper training.
Whoever posted that video
didn't want us to hear
what she was saying or
who she was saying it to.
[Lexi] No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
After she was officially
declared a missing person,
the cops came in and searched her house.
During the search they
recovered her cell phone.
On it, was one final video
that no one had seen.
[Lexi] I know you're back.
(breathing heavily)
(foreboding sound)
[Elara] We can truly see
a stunning transformation
occur in Lexi.
[Nate] Someone didn't
like what she was selling.
[Elara] Dark forces that
converged in the place
that was supposed to be her safe haven.
[Camille] Maybe the stress of pretending
finally got to her.
[Elara] Who or what is in that house?
[Nate] Of course, some insisted.
She just had help.
[Elara] She was no longer
Lexi. Something had her.
Something that wanted to do her harm.
(deep foreboding music)
Wherever she is, whatever she's doing,
I hope she's proud of herself.
There are those who want to
say that Lexi was murdered.
Because even murder seems
preferable to something so evil.
So awful, so incomprehensible,
so unspeakable.
But we never saw a single soul.
There is no person ever seen or heard from
throughout this entire saga.
This was not a mere mortal
who had it out for Lexi,
not a scorned lover or rival influencer.
No, this was a force,
a truly evil force that infested
her house and infected her
and did not stop until it
consumed her, in her entirety.
Look, no one just disappears. Okay?
Tupac is not alive in Cuba.
Elvis is not hiding out in The Bahamas
and Laughing Lexi is not living
her best life in New Zealand
She was stucked, tormented and murdered.
It's the only logical explanation.
Bodies are hidden and
disposed of all the time.
They say no body, no crime,
but anybody who's studied crime
knows that is absolute horseshit.
The absence of evidence is
not the evidence of absence.
And in this case,
there is ample evidence
pointing to one thing
and one thing only.
Plain old fashioned murder.
Lexi.
I hope you're out there
somewhere and I hope you're okay.
I just want you to know that
you are not alone in this.
You have people in your corner,
people who love you and we
will not stop looking for you.
(cheerful music)
Hey everyone.
My name is Alexandria, but
all my friends call me Lexi.
This is my very first video on my channel
and I wanted to use it
to tell you a bit about
what I'll be doing with my
little corner of the internet.
I'm into self discovery,
productivity, growth,
and really just finding
ways to live a happier
and more fulfilling life.
And as I find ways to do these things,
I'm going to be sharing all
of my best tips and tricks
with all of you.
And hopefully we can grow together.
I can't wait to go on
this journey with you.
The house I grew up in was haunted.
I get it.
I really get it.
Lexi. You are so amazing.
I love you. I love your videos.
They have been so inspiring
and motivating to me to find my voice.
And it's because of you that
I wrote a freaking novel,
which I never thought was possible.
So I'm just, I'm hoping that you're okay.
Just let us know that you're
okay. And please come home.
Hey Lexi. I hope you're okay.
I've been praying for you. I
hope to see you return soon.
I mean, I'd love to see some
more of those fetish videos.
Hi Lexi. If you can hear this,
I just wanted to let you know
that we're all pulling for you
and I wanted to send you my love.
And you're in my thoughts
and prayers. Come home soon.
Yo, wassup Lexi?
Yo for real, if you need
some protection, you just,
you just give me a shout, right?
You know who your boy is, but for real,
I'll help you all right out there. Okay?
Give us a shout. We're worried about you.
You made me a better
person that you showed me
how to be a better man and
how to treat people better.
And also how to treat myself better.
I hope you're safe wherever you are.
You know, Lexi needs
this time to herself.
Everybody's freaking out, where is she?
I know where she is.
She's hanging out with her aunt in Fresno.
