Poomaram (2018) Movie Script

'Festival'
'Mahatma University
Youth Festival'
Gauthaman, how are the preparations
for the youth festival progressing?
lt starts tomorrow, right?
Maharaja's will win the
cup this time, dad.
No doubt about that.
May that happen!
The students who
are participating,
they are interested in the arts,
beyond the competitions, right?
They are interested.
But while going for the arts festival,
the main plan is to win the prize somehow.
What's that plan?
These competitions always have
outdated formats, right?
We should follow it correctly.
What do you mean by outdated?
By outdated, l mean..
Judges are following the
rules from 3040 years back,
from the time the arts
festival came into being.
While announcing the results, judges
go up on stage 8 give speeches;
that there's nothing new.
But the prize will be
declared traditionally.
- Do you have any dierence
of opinion, dad? - No.
l just asked..
There was that notebook which had
Da Vinci's anatomical sketches, right?
Did you bring it back after
Iending it to your friend?
He is participating for sculpture.
He said he'll return it after that.
Da Vinci and Michelangelo;
during their times,
with not as many facilities;
to study anatomy,
they would obtain unclaimed corpses with
the help of some priests;
They used to study them by examining the
bodies under candle-light,
secretly at night.
That's the strength of their work.
For example, Da Vinci's Mona Lisa;
Michelangelo's David, Pieta and Moses;
lf they are existing even now,
it's the strength oftheir study.
Notjust that, even Shakespeare is a
contribution of the renaissance period.
There's no one to top Shakespeare.
Ultimate!
What about Kalidas from India?
True. That too, in
the 5th Centuy.
A 1000 years before Shakespeare.
So Kalidas, Michelangelo,
Da Vinci, Rafael and Shakespeare;
l think you feel that
they are outdated.
lt's just a doubt of mine.
l understood where
you're going with this, dad.
J
Well
ifwe consider the time period of
1500 or 1000 or even 500 years;
the 30 or 40 years you
mentioned earlier;
is it really that outdated?
When you asked me about
the youth festival,
l just meant that there's no
freedom for new interpretations,
in the youth festivals
happening now.
That's what l'm also saying;
ifyou have a precise idea about the
art form you're going to peorm,
and ifyou have the craft;
you will be able to create
what you intend to.
But if you want to bring it to life;
you must inject
your souls into it.
And that's the exact advise you should
be giving your friends, as a chairman.
Whatever they are going to do,
they should understand
its soul and do it.
Mahatma University Youth Festival
- Festival 2016,
will commence at
Ernakulam tomorrow.
At 5 PM tomorrow, film star Meera
Jasmine, will inaugurate the festival.
From around 300 colleges,
Stop it, kiddo.
Around 3000 students are
participating in the competition.
Around 72 art forms will
be peormed at 7 stages.
You've applied only for
poety writing, right?
You could have applied for painting
and clay modelling as well.
You wasted the chance to
be the overall winner.
Great. Nowl feel that even
poety writing was unnecessay.
Ya right! You would've
been 1st in all three.
Why do you feel so?
We have competitions at all stages.
l've to run around, right?
l'm tensed whether l would be
able to write something in peace.
So you're saying that you need
to be at peace to write poety?
- Haven't you read Byron's poems?
- George Gordon Byron.
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and stary skies.
Byron didn't write
these for competitions.
Lord Byron.
Right, dad?
Yes.
Lord Byron.
This wasn't for a competition.
But l'll recite a poem which
Byron wrote for a competition.
While he was young,
he participated in a poety
writing competition like this.
The topic given was about
Christ turning water into wine.
So eveyone else was writing.
Byron was restless, like you said.
He wasn't able to write anything.
The time was up.
Finally when the examiner was about
to snatch the paper from him;
he wrotejust one line and gave it.
Just one line.
J
Water met its master
and blushed.
J
Water met its master
blushed and turned red.
Saying that water met its master;
l don't think anyone can describe
God in a more beautiful way.
And water blushed;
lt blushed in shame
and turned red.
He's talking about water
turning into wine.
This is poety, isn't it?
How long you wrote for;
how much you wrote;
none of this matter.
What matters is what you write.
l wish l could write even one
line like that in my lifetime.
Try your luck.
We should win the cup this time.
That's for sure!
The fund is a concern..
Please talk to Manojettan.
l've told him.
Haven't you told dad?
Dad, we expect a strong
support from you.
You can expect all the
support and aid,
staying within the constraints
of a retired teacher.
That's enough, dad.
Howabout the collection of the rest of
the donations? - Progressing strongly.
'Youth Festival Fund'
Do you rememberthe year we won the
cup forthe first time, teacher?
We won the championship for
the first time in '93.
Until then, no one had won it except
St. Treesa College.
Back then, the students were excited as
ifthey were going to break into a fort.
lt was like, that fort stood there because
we never made up our minds to break it.
Bharathan Sirwas the
principal back then.
Chairman was Rajeev Ravi.
Then Abhilash;
Abhilash was in full form, to
compete and to organize eveything.
We were leading right
from the beginning.
We won the championship with
almost double the points.
We were adamant that we would
never lose it thereaRer.
Then for two years, whileAmal Neerad
was the chairman; we maintained it.
But we lost it for 2
years afterthat.
After that,
in '98,
when EG Ratheesh
was the chairman;
it was the time when the youth
festival returned to Ernakulam.
Abhilash died just 2
months before that.
We received the trophy in
his name here that year.
ln the following years,
whoever won the championship, won it
only by putting up a strong fight.
ln bemeen, apart from us and
St. Treesa College;
Music College also
came into the picture.
l remember, in 2000;
whileAashiq Abu was the chairman;
lt was a vey tense competition
since the beginning;
Our children peormed
group dance vey well;
But immediately after the peormance, they
ran backstage and started wailing loudly.
Saying that they made some mistake.
The prize was announced
while they were cying;
The first prize was for us;
and we won the championship as well.
So just like they cried with grief;
they cried uncontrollably
withjoy as well.
The other day, while l was
talking to Gauthaman;
just like whatAbhilash
and Rajeev had back then;
l felt the energy of a heart which
is not ready to fail, within him.
You have so many memories of so many
years in Maharaja's, right teacher?
l've felt that these memories are
always with me, at many instances.
But we needn't return
to those memories;
And we should not be trapping
you with our nostalgia as well.
lt's not like '93 is going
to repeat this time.
lfthe task back then was breaking
into a fort in front of us;
today l think your victoy
would be in finding something,
that you don't knowor that
you haven't found so far.
Anyway, the crown will be ours!

Call the guests and confirm
the time they're leaving.
Once the procession starts tomorrow,
the whole town will be blocked.
lfthey get stuck in the block, the
guests may not be able to reach on time.
So in today's sub-committee meeting,
we should assign the people for that.
We have a committee meeting
in the evening, right?
Let's give proper
instructions then.
Shaan, what about the flags to be held
by union members forthe procession?
lt's all okay.
-Aren't you following up on Meera Jasmine?
-Yes. It's confirmed.
They are film stars. Ifthey don't turn
up, it will be a disgrace for all of us.
No. No confusions.
l had called her.
Did St. Treesa college
bring the trophy?
- No. Not yet.
- They didn't?
l had called them
yesterday as well.
My phone got switched off.
You have their chair-person
Irene's number, right? Call her.
While giving the badges for volunteers,
check whether they would stay for 5 days.
Hello Irene?
l'll put the University
Union Chairman on line.
We'll do it in the afternoon.
This is Rohit.
Chairman.
- Hi Rohit.
-You haven't brought the trophy yet.
We couldn't leave from
here today, Rohit.
The campus is nearby, right?
Make sure you bring
it in the evening.
l'll call you, Rohit. Let me talk to
the Principal. l'll call you back.
Let the trophy remain
here for one more day.
However much we talk
about spirituality,
when that trophy goes
from there, it feels sad.
So girls,
l knowthat you all
are set for tomorrow.
Your hard work of
all these days,
will find results from
tomorrowonwards.
St. Treesa is a society of girls
who never want to finish second.
Our college has a decorum.
You have the responsibility
to maintain it as well.
Concentrate on your peormance;
Our union members are
there to support you.
And two teachers as well.
Tessa Ma'am 8 Elizabeth Ma'am.
They will always be with you.
So do well;
All the vey best;
And l knowthat you're going to
come out with flying colours.
Our blessings and prayers
are always with you.
Good luck, my girls.
You carry on.
Three to four months of our
rehearsals is coming to an end today.
The Mahatma University Youth
Festival is beginning tomorrow;
and we will leave
tomorrow morning.
l knowyou're all set.
But before we leave, l wanna
share a fewthings with you all.
After getting admission
for BA Literature,
when l entered Dr. Sister Janet's
room; to join our college;
the first thing l saw, or
the first thing l noticed;
was the Mahatma University
Youth Festival's crown;
the overall Championship trophy!
l had the pride that l was studying in
the college which was the champion,
of that huge fest where 360
plus colleges were competing.
And l'm sure each one ofyou
have felt the same emotion,
at least once while
you've been here.
l am witness to us becoming the champions
for 4 years continuously, since l joined.
We can become the
Champions once;
that perhaps is a
Iuck by chance.
But to become Champions
continuously;
to make it a habit;
to make it a part of our culture;
is not a small feat.
There definitely is some kind of
a speciality within our college.
lt's our college's immense investment,
in the form oftime, painstaking
efforts, hard work, sleepless nights;
these are the things
that won the cup for us.
Tomorrow, as a Chair-Person;
the first thing l saw in
Dr. Sister Janet's room;
the one that
decorated that room;
the cup that contains the honour, pride and
fame that our predecessors won for us;
while we leave
from here with it;
l have only one
pledge and one focus;
it's my pledge;
it's the pledge of our union members;
it's the pledge of
each one of us;
We will reach the youth
festival stage as Champions;
and we will return from
there as Champions again!
Get ready to repeat!
We are the Champions!
We are the Champions!
Respected Principal,
Sri Sebastian Sir;
Sta Advisor
Rajesh Sir;
the rest ofthe teachers,
non-teaching staff;
and my dear student friends;
We are studying in a college with a
rich cultural histoy and lineage;
at Ernakulam Maharaja's college.
Years back,
when untouchability 8 horrid customs
were still existent in our state;
a talented man called
Pandit KP Karuppan,
was appointed as a teacher in an
educational institution in Ernakulam.
Pandit KP Karuppan was someone
who rose from a community,
that was marginalized by
the society back then.
Some teachers there became restless when
KP Karuppanjoined as a teacher there.
They went on leave,
as a form of protest.
The Maharaja (King) of Kochi who
heard about this, said so;
l need the names 8
details ofthe teachers,
who went on leave protesting against
the appointment of Pandit KP Karuppan.
Because,
those subjects should also be taught
by Karuppan, said the Maharaja;
and we're studying in a college
named afterthat Maharaja.
Later, Pandit KP Karuppan joined as a
teacher in our vey own Maharaja's College.
Maharaja's happily welcomed him.
The windom ofthe huge buildings with
architectural splendour in Maharaja's;
were kept open to
the outside world;
to embrace and
wholeheartedly accept,
any cultural tradition and humanity,
beyond narrow-minded casteist,
religious or communal thoughts.
This was said by some great man,
and evey grain of sand here proclaims
that each word ofthat is true.
Tomorrowwe're going for the
Mahatma University Youth Festival.
To bring back the crown our royal college
had adorned on its head with pride.
Whenever we were tied down with
the wild ropes of limitations;
we are the ones who awakened
like the wild streams!
To light the flame which
represents the fire within us;
l invite our
honourable Principal.
Great again! Great again!
Maharaja's great again!
May the thunder roar!
May the sea split in two!
May the earth horripilate!
May the clouds be scattered!
May there be a downpour of rain!
May Maharaja's win!
Great again! Great again!
Maharaja's great again!

While analysing the final points ofthe 7
years in which we won the Youth Festival;
we have received 70-80
points on an average.
Last year, we got 78 points;
Year previous to that, 73.
After watching the rehearsals
for the past 3 months;
and the final rehearsals
that happened now;
and making an
assessment from that;
this is our calculation
for this year.
We are participating in six
group events this time.
lfwe get around 30-35 points
from these six events;
and 45-50 points from
individual events;
we'll be able to score a total of 8085
points and we'll be in the safe zone.
We can expect 20 points in
individual events from Malavika.
She has given us these 20 points for
the past 2 years, without fail.
But l am really tensed.
Because l was the top peormer
forthe last 2 years;
there are chances of some kind
of politics to happen there.
lf some kind of politics
happens in her case,
we will definitely
go for an appeal.
Yes. No doubt about it.
All right. Nowaccording to our plan,
do we have anything else to arrange?
After the final costume
trial of all participants;
we have packed them separately
with names on them.
So that is sorted;
And l'm supervising the
practice of the mime event.
lt's not too bad;
Don't get your hopes high.
Still, let's ty our best.
Ma'am has given me the cash for the
expenses of volunteers 8 union members.
And all of you should remember to collect
the bills ofthe money spent, promptly.
Just that we're not asking for
donations holding buckets;
We know how much we struggled to
find sponsors and raise funds.
So spend it carefully.
VT has never allowed
so much fund earlier.
This is because ofthe
principal's special interest.
Even with this, the fund won't be enough.
You know right?
We need around 1.5 lakhs more.
We're running around to
source that amount as well.
Smart guys have done all this
and won the cup earlier too.
You also win it.
Rajan sir, we have final
rehearsal for the mime.
-Just call me then. l'll be there.
- Okay.
Haven't you told eveyone?
Agenda - Condolence, Youth
Festival, and related matters.
Condolence.
The known and unknown people who departed,
in the time period ofthis committee;
This committee offers
condolences to all of them.
To talk further, l
invite the Chairman.
Comrades,
the youth festival happening
tomorrow is our main agenda.
We have gathered here today,
to discuss about the final round of
preparations for the youth festival.
About the funds and the
donations received;
Bucket collections and donations
with receipts are the main sources.
We have collected
almost 57,OOO Rupees.
MG Road, from where we get
good donations usually;
Since the metro construction work is
happening there, the collections are down.
And it's a fact that we don't
have the necessay funds.
l am in charge offood and
refreshments this time.
There's a Comrade who studied here.
We've arranged food from that
comrade's brother's hotel.
We have booked 3 rooms for boys
nearthe main stage this time.
Meenakshi is arranging
the stay for the girls.
We had trouble finding a
place for the girls to stay.
But nowAmritha, from
2nd year, Malayalam;
has agreed to accommodate them.
Gauri, ifyou want to
say something, say it.
l'm a first year student.
l don't have any experience
in youth festivals yet.
Still, as a first
DC representative,
l've promptly done all
the tasks assigned to me.
l am really excited.
Our group items are
sure shot winners.
Because our mime has a theme
that has never been seen before.
We'll definitely win.
The cup will be in our courtyard.
- Come here, you!!
- Don't shout, man!
- Get down and come!
- Don't create trouble. Let them go.
Don't get down from the bike.
Let's go, man!
- It's Kili 8 Joppan.
-Are they fighting?
Come on.
Let's go.
Let them go whereverthey want.
What's the problem?
Just had an argument with
that guy on the road.
That guy in the car.
Because l didn't
use the indicator.
Hey Kili, why do you want to
create unnecessay troubles?
Meenu, don't keep blaming
me all the time.
Ask him what happened.
He didn't create any trouble.
The mistake was on their part.
You didn't trust me, right?
Nowyou trust him?
l'm not like you, right?
l am honest, right?
Ya right!
Meenu, l am also honest.
l swear!
Hey! When will Aashaan come?
He had called. He will
come in the evening.
He said he'll come in the night
forthe mime's final practice.
All ofyou peormed vey well.
Alexa,
your own daughter is
Iying dead on your lap.
She was cheated
through social media;
and we see her now in
a fully burnt state.
Norah should lie
down at the centre.
So audience can
see you properly.
And like Ma'am said, when you roll, you
have to position yourself in the centre.
lt's going to be vey difficult for
Sheril to control her somersault.
She'll run into the
other person, right?
So position yourself so that
she can kick and come in;
and position herself
in the centre.
When you chase the girls,
all your emotions are good;
but you have to have that crave;
you have the crave for
that girl in front ofyou.
lt's notjust randomly
chasing a girl, right?
So you should have
that crave in your eyes.
All your eyes are
on Maria and Norah;
just changing like this.
You are facing the audience. You
shouldn't change positions. It's a wall.
So just interchange at times.
Your eyes shouldn't
be offthe audience.
Fix it to one point.
So that it doesn't flicker.
lt will be seen. When you have
your make up on your face,
eye-movements can be
seen vey clearly.
And exaggerate your
emotions, Alexa.
lt's peect.
But ifyou exaggerate more,
it will be even better.
- Fantastic. Excellentjob.
- Thank you.
All the girls are balancing
the pots correctly.
But look at Pretty,
- Like she has some tension.
- It's okay. She's fine.
She has been practising
for so long, right?
Must be because you're tensed.
You do well otherwise. - No. l am okay.
Shall we get another rim?
-Just so that she can ty.
- It's okay. l am fine.
- It might be more comfortable.
- Shall we ty with a bigger rim?
Ya. That's what l was thinking.
Let's try that.
- Elizabeth?
-Yes, Sister.
- Have the girls gone to bed?
- Not yet. They're in the auditorium.
Do you need anything else there?
No. Nothing else.
l came to check the seminar
hall forthem to sleep.
l'm also going to
the auditorium.
l'm also going to
the auditorium.
Gautham, the final practice for
other events are done, right?
How are the items on the whole?
Eveything has come
out well, Aashaan.
And eveyone has huge
expectations about the mime.
According to my experience, our
mime has come out quite well.
Along with acting, we've given some
more importance to acro and formations.
And we've also done music that suits
it peectly and effects as well.
We can feel that
impact while watching it.
Moreover, l'm personally vey happy that
we chose such a topic for our mime.
lt should not bejust for the
3judges sitting in front;
it should reach the hearts ofthe
audience watching it as well.
-All ofyou have warmed up?
-Yes, Aashaan.
The smiles on your faces now,
l want to see it afteryour
peormance on stage as well.
Definitely, sir.
What you're going to do here,
is just the final practice;
Your final peormance should be
on the stage. - Sure, Aashaan.
Keep your phone on flight mode.
lt's been a while since l
heard your poetry.
Why not? We'll have a session.
lt's okay, right?
Vey good, Aashaan.
Are there any corrections
to be made in this?
Nowwhen they wear white
costumes 8 get on stage;
the visual impact will
be even stronger.
No need of any tension.
Do you feel tensed?
lfyou ask me
whether l'm tensed;
yeah!
l can't even think about taking the
trophy away from here tomorrow.
And until we bring it back here;
Yeah!
l really don't think
l can sleep tonight.
Tonight, l can write
the saddest lines.
Tonight, l can write
the saddest lines.
The night is stary and the stars are
blue and shiver in the distance.
The night wind revolves
in the sky and sings,
Tonight l can write the saddest lines.
l loved her, and sometimes
she loved me too..
Through nights like this
one l held her in my arms
l kissed her again and again
under the endless sky...
She loved me sometimes,
and l loved her too.
Howcould one not have loved
her great still eyes...
And the verse falls to the
soul like dewto the pasture.
What does it matter that my
Iove could not keep her.
The night is shattered
and she is not with me.
We, ofthat time, are no longer the same.
Another's. She will be another's.
As she was before my kisses.
Her voice. Her bright body.
Her infinite eyes.
l no longer love her, that's certain,
but maybe l love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long
Because through nights like
this one l held her in my arms
My soul is not satisfied
that it has lost her.
Though this be the last pain
that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses
that l write for her.
Sister, we promise you.
We won't leave these spots
empty for more than 5 days.
Hail May, full of grace.
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy May, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
God bless you all.
Thank you Sister.
Hi. l'm Irene from St. Treesa.
We've brought the trophy.
Where do we return this?
Just keep it at the Welcoming
committee office. - Okay. Thank you.
- Hi.
- Please come.
Help them, dude.
- Please sit down.
- Thank you.
- Hos your practice going?
- Going good.
Can we registerfor Thiruvathira
(Kerala dance form) here no
- Oh! You're peorming Thiruvathira today?
-Yes.
You can do it. Just go to the
registration counter downstairs.
- There are volunteers there.
- l got a call.
l'll be right back.
l'll wait outside.
- Okay then.
- Okay.
lt's been with you for
the past 5 years, right?
Just think that you gave it here
for safekeeping for 5 days.
- Once you're done, take them back.
- Okay.
-All the best.
- Thank you.
Hi.
Thiruvathira registration?
- St. Treesa college, right?

Those who participate in art forms,
have joy and have a stage for it.
But what leads the people

Mandolin U Srinivas, the
Iegenday musician.
He is no more.
To listen to his concerts,

But your finger should

Why? If any of thosejudges
have an ego issue about that,
it might affect ourjudgement.
Sir, should we arrange anything?
They give a good stage to sing light music,
but we usually get a noisy stage where
there'll be noise while dancing.
lf some problem
happens due to that,
- Ifthere's a problem, we'll complain.
-Yes. Do that. That's all.
Son! Lohitashwa!

This girl is very talented in

Teacher, is it a problem if
we dance to a 'Keerthanam'?
There's that Sanchari Bhava of a
'Varnam' in Bharatnatyam, right?
What you're doing in this 'Keerthanam'
is like that Sanchari Bhava, right?
Just because you dance to 'Varna',
you may not win the prize.
What? - She just came after
removing the Ottamthullal make-up.
-What is it, sir?
- The eyes should go to both sides.
The make up isn't done yet. Once it's done,

Last time afterthe make up for group

relevant in the present scenario.
- Did l peorm so badly?

Who said so?
Stop cying.
l'm not bothered that

But our college's score

Malavika,
why are you feeling down?
Sir, everyone said that the girls from
Music College 8 Maharaja's were vey good.
Did you see their peormances?
l saw.
l didn't like it.
This is 'Varnam'.
This is 'Keerthanam'.
This is the Keerthanam
that girl danced to.
Sir...
Keerthanam will never
win a university prize.
That girl will neverwin the prize.
Dear, this RLV Anil Kumar has
never gone wrong.
- Sir..
-Any doubt?
You danced vey well, dear.
You have a bright future.
First prize - 528.
Which all results are
supposed to come out today?
We have fine arts 8 literay events;

- Only tomorro
That would be fine.
lfwe could knowthat as well..
We have a lead which is
beyond our expectations.
Tomorrowwe have
Kolkali and Mime.
- Those are our sure shot items.
-We're strong in those.
The off-stage result
also is yet to come.
The problem is that we lost so
many points in individual items.
3rd position.
l cannot even imagine.
Champions in 3rd position.
This is what the media is saying.
Don't be so down and out. Ifwe're
down, the entire team will go down.
What l don't understand is, Mrinalini's
Ottamthullal is our sure bet.
l don't knowfor what reason
they withheld the result.
lfthat result had come, at least we
wouldn't have gotten pushed down.
St. Treesa College
at 3rd position.
Even if our college didn't win anything,
l liked that they are third.
Awesome!
So much attitude they had, phew!
You should think about
our participants, right?
The result of Ottamthullal
is withheld now.
Who said you are first in that?
We have information that
we are first in it.
But before it comes
out, ifyou do this..
We've given the
order that we got.
See. We're not interested
in a controversy.
Those who've seen our participant's
peormance knowwhat the result is.
Me, my beloved and
my forty companions;

the blooming tree.
Me, my beloved and

she looked right back! at me;
My forty companions and

What's the problem?
There was no one here to react
when they became 2nd yesterday
But that girl was the overall
champion for 2 years, right?
And she's a famous dancer, right?
What famous?
With money, anyone
can become famous.
What do you knowabout RLVAnilkumar of
St. Treesa college?
He pays money for prizes and the overall
championship. That's how he is.
People like this Anil should be sliced
to death. That's what should be done.
'O you who are going with
song in your hearts
To harvest golden grains
from the paddy fields'
'lfyou'll stay a little while,
l'll tell you a good story'
'Of Sita the girl who loved the soil; l'll
tell you a stoy to make your hearts melt'
- Understood?
-Yes.
Dance.
'O you who are going with
song in your hearts
To harvest golden grains
from the paddy fields'
'lfyou'll stay a little while,
l'll tell you a good story'
That should be corrected.
Add some flirtatiousness during
that 'lf you stay' line.
'lfyou'll stay a little while,
l'll tell you a good story'
lt's a minute thing.
'lfyou'll stay a little while,
l'll tell you a good story'
lrene, didn't l tell you yesterday
that Malavika will come first?
ln yesterday's individual
events, only Malu won; sir.
We didn't get expected
results forthe others.
So the college is at
3rd position now.
But that's all right.
We'll come back.
We have enough events to go.
Don't get disturbed ifyou
hear negative comments.
Stay focused.
Keep up your spirit.
We'll come back, okay?
We have Mohiniyattam today.
Malavika will come
first for that too.
Competition is like this, my dear.
Do you know how
much l've suffered?
Students will come and
dancejust like that.
That girl is dancing
vey well, Dineshan.
That's howl have taught her.
Afteryour make-up, l have to..
Maharaja's have called me.
You can go only afterthis.
Earlier, all ofyou would
be assembled in one room.
So it was easier
for us also then.
How come you didn't have
enough money for Bharatnatyam?
What to say, sir.
The prize is fixed even before
the youth festival begins.
You get down from the stage only aRer
winning first for Mohiniyattam.
lf she doesn't come first, l'll back
out from this dance field itself.
Don't say that, teacher.
Is this the end of life?
l was just saying that eveyone
will have a desire, right?
But, do you knowthe
judges well enough?
Have you paid enough money?
Only then you'd win the prize.
lf it's someone l know,
l'll ty doing this..
- Greatjob, dude.
- Thank you.
l tried a different style this time.
Hello! Congratulations.
This girl played
flamenco guitar, right?
l played mixing classic4uitar
with finger style.
l think thejudges
didn't understand that.
lf you give me your WhatsApp number,
l'll send my winning video.
Can you watch 8tell
me your opinion?
No need.
That's not necessay.
l'm slightly busy.
- Cary on.
-Why are you laughing? Tell me as well.
'The music ofthe Veena,
The soft Ragas'
'The sound of heaven,

Forthe attention ofthe judges,
you can rest your pens and

Against the human rights violations
and the Government's atrocities,
this programme proudly presented by
the Ernakulam Govt. Law College;
Requesting you not to insult
us by giving the first prize,
Shall we start?
lt was really good, right?
Sir, you should tell me where
my student went wrong.
Sir, 35 students competed in this.
We can give first prize only to one.
How is Mohiniyattam done?
lt should be done very softly like a
soft breeze which blom the paddy grains;
No point in stomping the stage.
Sir, didn't we give first to the
girl who peormed the best?
That girl's peormance
was remarkable.
Panchali.
It was absolutely amazing.
We felt as though we were
watching Panchali herself.
That girl?
Does Panchali sit like this?
Howwas the hip-position
ofthat girl?
lsn't that our Shakti sir?
We came 2nd in
Mohiniyattam, right?
So Shakti sir is saying that the St.
Treesa girl's step was wrong.
What was the mistake in my peformance?
Tell me.
Dear, ifwe've to talk about mistakes,
all students made many mistakes.
To talk about mistakes, he
doesn't know Mohiniyattam.
He's a Bharatnatyam teacher.
lf you can't spot a mistake,
why have you come here?
You don't know it.
(lndistinct arguments)
Protest! Protest!
He gave the prize
Iooking at a symbol.
(indistinct arguments)
Catch him! He's a big fraud!
He's runnign away.
Shameless fellow!
We said we'll sort it out.
Give a complaint. Don't shout.
You don't get scared.
-Are you okay?
- l am okay.
Long Live the Revolution!
lfthe judges dance, will
your problem be solved?
We're doubtful about his qualification.
He's a Bharatnatyam teacher.
lfyou take any topic, Mohiniyattam
is a sub of Bharatnatyam.
They also knowthat.
No! No!
There are people who choose
music as Bharatnatyam's sub.
Don't mess with me.
Don't make noise.
All ofyou keep quiet.
- He'll dance for us now.
- What's the problem?
Peorm Mohiniyattam for us.
l don't have any problem
in doing Mohiniyattam.
l reached till here by studying
honourably and thoroughly.
l don't have any
problem in doing it.
-All ofyou sit down.
-You also go forjudging, right?
Have you experienced this?
- Dance!
- Sir, please sing Hamir Kalyani.
Let me do the 'Namaskaram'
l don't knowwhether they know it.
Ya right! We'll become
your disciples then!
l'll call you afterthis.
That curve itself is wrong.
Sir, please sing.
He said it should be like
grains swaying in the breeze;
but it looks like a
broken plantain stem.
He lost the rhythm.
- Did you see, teacher?
- Lost the rhythm.
He lost the rhythm.
The course ofthe dance is wrong.
Where the hands are, go the eyes;
where the eyes are, goes the mind
The eyes should reach
where the hands are!
Your doubt was if l knew dance or
not, right? This is enough forthat.
We'll showyou howclassical
dance is done correctly.
Please dance, sir.
Turn.
First see the measurements of
Mohiniyattam - 1,2,3..
The sitting posture should
be at this distance.
They went wrong in that itself.
Second thing;
This measurement of ours,
The sitting posture should
be from head to navel.
That also was wrong.
l'll dance and showyou.
Please sing, sir.
Doesn't he have any otherjob?
What is this?
Koodiyattam?
lf we keep a pot on his head, it
will be a peect Karagattam dance.
What's the need for so
much flirtatiousness?
This is called Mohiniyattam.
This is not Mohiniyattam.
This is called revely.
Okay.
Dude, l was running behind rehearsals
ofAravanamuttu. l'll call you back.
Okay.
What?
Why are you grinning?
Shall l put braces on my teeth?
Why do you suddenly feel so?
The teeth is not in a proper row.
Look!
-Who said so?
- Look! Did you see this?
-Joby told that to you, right?
-Joby didn't say anything.
No need to go behind
artificial beauty.
l won't repeat this to you.
l've been telling you several times
not to put braces on yourteeth.
When you came from the
stage after Thiruvathira,
Joby came to talk to you playfully.
l didn't like that.
You've been doing
this for a long time!
What did l do?
l just asked your name.
Why do you have to shout?
What's your problem?
Don't you knowwhat
the problem is?
Hey! What's wrong with you?
-What is it, Kili?
- Don't touch me.
Don't talk without
knowing what happened.
Kili, what's the problem?
lfyou're from Maharaja's, you
have mo extra horns or what?
Come! Let's fight it out!
Get lost! Better disappear
from Ernakulam!
You want to mess with
Maharaja's students?
You won't leave properly, huh?
Leave my shirt, you scoundrel!
Kichu, what was the issue?
-Who?
-Who started the fight?
Who are those guys?
Hey Kili.
Come here.
And where did Kili go?
Kili, come here.
Kili, come here.
l don't knowwhat it was.
She was shouting at him.
Seeing that, l went
and gave him one.
-Who?
- Meenu.
There she comes.
Ask her.
What was it?
-What was the problem there?
- l felt like they said something to me.
-You felt?
-What nonsense are you saying?
l would've dealt it.
Why did you inteere?
-Why is she talking like this?
- One slap. Shut up!
-Where were you?
- We were nearby only.
What's the problem here?
There was a huge fight with Maharaja's
students 8 some people from outside.
l had gone to drink a soda.
-Will it happen again?
- Don't know. l'm waiting forthat.
- First in Wind Instrument, right?
-Yes.
What else did you win?
l had competed for light music.
Got a prize for that too.
-Which song did you sing?
- 'The soft petals'
Who wrote that song?
Araykkal Nandakumar
sirwrote it.
He is the music director also.
What's the song about?
This song is about
a refusal of love.
Have you everfallen
in love with someone?
Yes.
-And did you confess that?
-Well.. That.. l..
l had trouble in saying that..
So l made my friends say it.
That girl said that she considered me
as a brother, or someone ofthat level.
So..
So you've sung this
song with that emotion?
You can say that.
Were you blind since birth?
No. l had sight till
l was 4 years old.
Do you rememberwhat you
sawtill you were four?
l don't remember anything l saw.
But now l can sense light.
And if there's a shadow
near me, l can sense that.
ls music the biggest
happiness in your life?
Definitely.
It's music.
Because, in this world, the thing that has
given me the most happiness is music.
Can you sing the song which
you won the prize for?
'On the path that you ruined by
making the soft leaves fall'
'What you threwaway was not
just the life of a flower'
'As the folded hands ofthe flower bud'
'As the folded hands ofthe flower bud'
'My heart was in it'
'On the path that you ruined by
making the soft leaves fall'
What was the problem with them?
-With whom?
-With those guys.
Why did you hit him?
l don't understand.
What did you do?
They were going on
saying something.. Then l..
Whateverthey said, you
shouted at them, right? That's why l..
The funniest part is not all that..
When they were creating a scene,
you came flying from behind.
Why did you have to?
The others aren't even
as sensible as you.
l didn't knowwhether
to cry or laugh..
And then what happened?
Then nothing..
l got hit on my head.
lf you have to come 8 ask, you
should ask what's the issue, right?
lnstead why should you slap him?
l felt like doing that.
What can l do?
Leave all that.
l'm in a dierent feel now
What feel?
We'll miss all this when we leave
from here, right? l'm sad about that.
We'll miss it.
But can we stay here even after
5 days ofyouth festival?
l wanted to say
something to you.
What?
- No need. l'll say it later.
- That's better. - Say it.
- It won't be right if l say it.
- This is why you're called Kili.
You shouldn't call me Kili.
lt's not like others calling.
Ifyou call that, l feel really bad.
- l don't like you calling me that.
- Okay, Vivek Singh, tell me.
No need to call that.
- Then?
- Can't youjust call me Vivek?
Will you miss me after
this youth festival?
- No.
- No?
We'll meet at campus, right?
You're leaving town afterthis orwhat?
l was saying..
lfwe don't meet for two days, l feel..
Really..
Don't you feel that?
You want classes on
weekends as well?
Get lost, you idiot!
l didn't mean that.
No point in saying this to you.
Why?
You don't have the ability to
understand the pain of others.
lt's not like you don't understand it.
l know.
lt's them, right?
-Yes.
-Are they up to any trouble?
Why are they giving angy looks?
l think they haven't had enough.
Come.
Let's go.
- Come.
- No problem. You sit here.
Get up and come.
Shut up and come.
Don't irritate them.
Don't create problems
unnecessarily.
- What?
- Keep quiet, Kili.
Keep quiet!
Get lost, kiddo!
You needn't have done that.
Dude, those guys have
come again for trouble.
Who? - The guys who started
the fight earlier.
They came again?
l didn't say anything.
They came 8 gave angy looks.
Hold this.
Let me talk.
Don't create any trouble.
You go.
Come.
lfthey had any common sense, would
they have done that yesterday?
They're supposed to
be on stage today.
lt's not like l didn't
tell them, Aashan.
l told them a 1000 times
not to create any trouble.
Where are they now?
-At the station or hospital?
- Station.
At this last moment, getting three
people as replacements, is impossible.
Anyway, lets pick the lots.
We can push it somehowtill
the last chest number.
lf you bring them before
the last 4 mimes begin,
l have the confidence that l can
send them to stage with make up.
We'll definitely
bring them, Aashaan.
'The soul that wandered restlessly'
'Was tied to a tree with chains'
'Times have changed,
The stoy is forgotten'
'The foreigners have gone back'
'But we are still slaves'
'Whom do we tell our complaints to?'
'Whom do we confess our griefs to?'
One among those who came
to register a complaint,
all of you bent him over and
punched him in his gut;
And l heartily congratulate your
honest execution of duty.
By your luck or by God's grace to
me, it didn't become a big issue.
l'm not against hitting someone
at the police station.
The police department
exists even today,
because ofthe strength ofthe punches
that our predecessors had given.
But,
when you engage in
such activities,
you should see whether 3
important factors are matching.
One.
Those who hear the things
that the culprit has done,
should feel themselves that this
guy deserves a couple of punches.
Two.
We ourselves should feel that
the guy deserves to be punched.
That's not enough.
This culprit should himselffeel;
'l deserve a couple of punches.
Why isn't it coming?'
Then it means that he
is fit to get punched.
But ifyou don't have a clear idea about
the intensity ofthe punches to be given,
we will have to serve time behind
bars with the culprits we punched.
- Understood?
- Sir,
Paul Sir, from Human
Rights, has come.
Speak ofthe devil...
Ask him to come.
You may go.
- Paul sir, sit down..
- Namaste sir.
l've brought those guys in.
l took immediate action because
it's your case. - Okay sir.
Biju, Raju, Sunikkuttan..
It's them, right?
Yes. It's the three ofthem, sir.
l asked them many times.
They're not admitting.
lt's them only.
l sawthem.
They pelted stones at the house and
shouted abuses at the house as well.
Bring Paul sir's guys.
Come.
These guys, right?
- Do you know him?
- We're neighbours, sir.
Why did you throw
stones at his house?
- We didn't, sir.
- He says he sawyou.
-We didn't do it, sir.
- Do you have any financial deals with him?
Nothing like that, sir.
-Any border arguments?
- No sir.
Any reason for personal grudge?
No sir. No problem at all.
Then why did you throw stones?
Paul sir, is there any problem between us?
We didn't do anything.
You must be mistaken.
Look at my face, sir.
lt's Sunikkuttan, sir.
Sir, we've known each
otherfor so long, right?
Why do you have to frame
us in a false case?
- Hey! No need to pull your tricks here.
- No, sir.
- l've gotten rid of much
biggertricks here. - Okay sir.
lfyou see people living decently
in society, you'll feel irritated.
That's natural. That's the
problem ofyour culture.
Send them to that corner.
Why were you quiet when
they talked, Paul sir?
l didn't want to inteere
while you were questioning.
-You got scared?
- No..
We shouldn't be mingling
with such people.
Can't predict what
they're going to do.
You don't have cameras in front
ofyour house? - No sir
There's no CCN also in your area.
l checked.
l'll give them a warning.
We need a clear proof.
lfyou ask them in a proper
way, they'll say the truth.
They are the ones.
lt's not like l don't knowto ask properly.
But you yourselfwill make me lose my job.
All those who came
along are Cl's.
Ourjob is like holding
poison within our palms.
lf there's a wound on the palm,
it's dangerous. You know right?
Fix a camera.
We'll trap them.
- Okay sir.
-You have my number, right?
- l have your number.
- Just call me.
Okay sir.
Thank you.
- l'll call you.
- Okay.
lt can be compromised, right?
lf both parties don't have a
problem, sir can be quite lenient.
Call Paul sir's guys.
-You sort those files.
- Okay.
He's going to fix a camera at home.
Don't throwstones anymore.
We'll never say your name, sir.
We won't tell anyone that
you asked us to do this.
Don't!
You knowme, right?
- l'll hang you all upside down.
-We knowyou, sir.
- Get going.
- Okay sir.
Let me talk to sir.
Sir, the students from
Maharaja's are waiting outside.
Send them in.
Sit down.
- Sir, we're from Maharaja's.
- l know.
You were there for the DO office
march the other day, right?
Revolutionay leaders.
What's the intention
ofyour arrival?
The youth festival
is happening.
-What's the score like?
-We are leading.
St. Treesa became second?
No. Music College
is at 2nd position.
- St. Treesa is third now.
- They became third?
-Yes.
- Is it?
Last yearthey won
the cup, right?
They've been winning
for the past 5 years.
So this time you'll win?
We hope so.
Ifwe have your support as well..
You have my full support!
l studied in DB College,
Thalayolaparambu.
While l was studying final year in
DB college, Maharaja's won the cup.
Seeing the arrival of Maharaja's students
forthe youth festival back then,
l wanted to join Maharaja's just to
participate in the youth festival.
What's the matter no
Sir, we have the
mime event today.
So, it's an item we have a
Iot of expectations on.
And ifwe get those ten points
as well, we'll surely win.
So yesterday, some ofthe students who're
doing the mime, were in some problem..
What problem?
What is it?
Sir, there was a fight
yesterday, right?
- Those guys?
-Yes sir.
Are they peorming mime?
-Yes.
- Great.
Call the GD.
What's the status oftheir guys?
- Sir, l've written the FIR.
- Oh. You did?
- Call them.
- Okay sir.
Which is your team?
lt's them sir.
Full mime artists?
- No. Just the three of them.
-Yes. Three of us.
All are mime artists, Jos.
Mime means mute acting, right?
All of them are doing some
amazing mute acting now.
With a theme..
We've composed it with a theme..
- What was your theme?
- War.
Correct.
They turned the youth festival
venue into a war field.
Not like that, sir. Ourwar's
theme is EmperorAsoka's life.
So getting fed up of wars, he
chooses to take the path of peace..
Peace..
Messengers of peace.
What was the reason for the war?
lt's Kalinga war or
something like that..
Not that.
The reason for the war
between you guys.
Sir, while we were at the venue,
he pulled the shawl of
one of my friends, sir.
We didn't do it, sir. That haiy
guy hit us for no reason.
Then during the night when l
was sitting with my friend,
these guys came again
and gave angy looks.
- He's lying sir. He gave us angy looks.
- Which friend ofyours?
My classmate..
- The friend doesn't have a name?
- Meenu.
- What?
- Meenakshi.
Why did you guys go there?
We went to watch the
University youth festival.
University youth festival.
lsn't this the biggest university?
There are all kinds
of art forms here.
Mono act, mimicy, Kolkali,
Chavittunadakam, Sloka recitals;
This Jos is a champion
in Sloka recitals.
- Stop kidding, sir.
-Wanna hear that?
- Is there any case in your name?
- No sir.
This is the first time we're
coming to a police station.
ls police station
such a bad place?
You've gotten admission to a great
place where many legends have been to.
Have you heard of
Heny David Thoreau?
Have you heard?
Who?
Haven't heard?
You should read books.
l knowthat he wrote the book 'Walden';
but haven't read in detail.
Correct.
You should read.
He was a famous thinker
and writer inAmerica.
Though they claimed themselves to
be the greatest democratic county;
they didn't speak a
word against slavey;
and waged wars against
Mexico for gold.
And Heny David Thoreau was someone
who did a lone man's protest,
against that Government
machiney of America.
He said won't co-operate with
such a bad Government in any way;
and that he will never
pay tax thereaRer,
and went to a forest,
built a hut there;
did farming, cultivated eveything
that was necessay for himself;
and even made shoes by
himself, and stayed there.
One day when he stepped out to
the road, police arrested him.
What's the reason?
He didn't pay road tax.
- What's the reason? Road Tax?
- He didn't pay it.
His mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson who
came to meet him injail, asked him;
'Heny, why are you in there?'
Why are you inside thejail?
Heny asked him back,
'Emerson, why are you out there?'
Why are you living in
the outside world?
lt's so much more beautiful
to be in this jail,
than to be living under a Government
that is doing so many injustices.
This is a revolution.
A creative revolution.
lnspired by this, many
Iegends have gone to jail.
lncluding our Mahatma Gandhi.
That's one way to go tojail.
Another way,
is howthieves, robbers
and murderers,
and people like you who fight
on the roads, come to jail.
The dishonourable way.
You who haven't understood even
the intention of an art form,
which you practised for 3 months,
needn't peorm the mime!
Sir, they would have
understood it now.
What have they understood?
Who has understood?
Sir, please do something.
l'll think about leaving them only after
knowing the condition ofthe boys in hospital
-We will wait here, sir.
- Do whateveryou want.
Come here.
- Me?
- Come here.
What is it, sir?
Thank you sir.
- Thank you vey much.
- Go 8 stand there.
- Go..
- Sir..
- What? Has he come.
-Yes. He has come, sir.
l'll tell the Sl.
Just a minute. Wait here.
Come.
How much money did
he take from you?
44,500; sir.
Howdid it come to 44,500?
l paid the bill when his
motherwas in hospital, sir.
ls he yourfriend?
Nothing like that, sir.
l know him through phone calls.
Will anyone lend money to people
they meet through phone calls?
When he said his mother
was in the hospital,
-And what is he saying no
- He isn't saying anything
l hadn't spent that money even when
my mother was in the hospital.
Why aren't you returning it? Shouldn't
you return money ifyou borrowed it?
l didn't ask for money, sir.
He gave it voluntarily.
How did you guys meet?
Awrong call went from my
phone to his, by mistake.
l said that it was
a wrong number,
But he kept calling me evey
morning, noon and night.
He keeps sending a
Iot of messages.
And once when my mother was in hospital,
he paid the bill without telling me.
And told me that it was
a surprise for me.
What's your name?
lndujan.
He's a fraud, sir. He told
me his name was Indu.
When you heard Indu, you
thought it was a girl.
Right?
Yes sir.
What did you feel when you saw
the owner ofthis sweet voice?
- l was shocked, sir.
-You will be.
When you heard a female voice,
you paid the bill as a surprise, without
asking if it was a man or a woman.
That too the money you didn't spend
when your own mother was in hospital.
Hey!
Even 'Uttaraswayamvaram' Kathakali
doesn't have so many expressions in it.
Look at him!
No expressions at all!
Don't think it can
be compromised.
Between the fight, some boy had
injured his eye very badly.
And he's not part ofthe
gang we fought with.
l think it's some boy from outside,
who got stuck in between that.
'We, who are swinging together
on the swing, are one'
'The birds knowthat
We knowthat'
'The tremulous leaf and
this temple offlowers'
'And the dark clouds
knowthat vey well'
'Our bodies are one'
'Our hearts are one'
'Our sights are one'
'And our lives are one'
'All ofthem are one'
'Though it's true, your smile
and my pain is not one'
'Your smile and my pain is not one'
'Your smile and my pain is not one'
Nice lines.
Sugathakumari Teacher's
'Where is Radha?'
lt's a long poem.
These are some lines from it.
l have read it.
The interesting angle is that
Maharaja's college Chairman,
and St. Treesa College Chairperson are
sharing the 1st prize for poety.
- Do you knoweach other?
- l've heard his name. That's all.
Do you hope to win the
cup this time as well?
Definitely! We have high hopes.
We always hope forthe best.
- What's the next item?
- Next is mime.
- Okay. All the best.
- Thank you.
Gauthaman, where are you no
l heard that there was a
fight at the festival venue;
and that a student who won
the prize for photography,
is in the hospital
with an eye injuy?
The news scroll is going on now.
Your college's name
is being mentioned.
There was a small problem, dad.
Some of our students who're part
ofthe mime, are also stuck.
l've come to the
hospital to solve that.
The students participating in the
competitions are involved in this?
Vey nice, son.
l was thinking,
in '83, when l joined Thevara
college as a lecturer;
such a fight happened in Maharaja's 8 some
students were admitted to general hospital.
And a Law College student who went to
visit them, was stabbed on his spine.
The one was stabbed then, has been on
a wheel chairfor the past 33 years.
Back then, the accused was the son of a
vey senior professorfrom our college.
l sawthe pain that father
went through that day, son.
After several years, l am
in such a situation now.
When my son is the
accused, l feel sad, son.
Dad, is this like that?
l wasn't even there.
And what can l do ifthe
students don't listen to me?
Howcan you escape from
that responsibility?
Students from your college
are involved, right?
lfyou couldn't lead
your students properly,
it means that you're
not a good leader.
When you're the Chairman, you're
supposed to lead them properly.
lfyour college wins a cup
while a boy loses his eyesight;
What honourwill your
college have then?
As a father, when you bring the cup,
what honourwill l have?
Think about it.
By destroying a person's sight,
what insight are you going to
give the people through art?
Why are your eyes moist?
Thinking that you can't
go on stage no
Or thinking that l will be sad?
l'm not sad.
l came to your college
2-3 months back,
and selected six people
from all the students;
made them join
together as one heart;
composed an item and
made you practise it.
What did we think then?
That we'll go forthis youth festival,
and that we'll win first
prize for our mime,
and win 10 points for
the college, right?
And that we'll go for South Zone,
and then National...
We were sure about it too.
We've put in that much
hard work for it.
lt's forgiveable ifthis had happened
because one of us fell sick.
When l take up a topic for
the mime, compose it;
and when the students finish
peorming it on stage;
l feel happy.
That l'm able to do so much.
But now..
They couldn't even understand
the topic of our mime.
They're not going to come now.
And our mime wouldn't
be performed on stage.
Please tell Gauthaman
that l left..
'Where did those dreams fly away like
feathers, with the blink of an eye?'
'Where did those memories fade away,
flapping the wings ofthe morning chariot?'
'Where did the birds fly away,
with unfulfilled hopes?'
'Flowing this far, all
of us became one'
'Which shore do we
fly to, tomorro'
'As this night disappears in the distance'
Howcan you escape from
that responsibility?
Students from your college
are involved, right?
lfyou couldn't lead
your students properly,
it means that you're
not a good leader.
lfyour college wins a cup
while a boy loses his eyesight;
What honourwill your
college have then?
By destroying a person's sight,
what insight are you going to
give the people through art?
Are you all right?
We need to win just
one more competition;
to become the champions.
There are two kinds
of champions.
One categoy among that,
will reach the first
place by running in front;
from beginning to end,
without any struggle.
They are champions, of course!
The other categoy,
the might start running slowly;
they might fall in between;
Then everyone around them would
say that can't go any further.
And from such a situation where
they can't go any further;
they will rise.
Step by step,
with their pure discipline,
determination and dedication;
they will race ahead to
the front from the back.
They will reach the first position.
They are the real champions.
3 days back,
we were in third position.
Then everyone said,
that we can't go
any further ahead.
From there.
Today, at this vey moment;
ifwe can reach a position which is
just 5 points away from first place;
Neither our pots nor us,
are going to fall again!
This is our cup!
We will go back from here
today only with this cup!
This is the way we go!
This is the way we ride!
This is the way we lead!
Fly high, do or die,
St. Treesa!
St. Treesa!
lrene, you have already
kindled their hearts.
- Let the spark fly on the stage.
- Thank you Ma'am.
Nothing to worry. All our prayers
are with you. - Thanks a lot.
-All the best.
- Thank you.
Give us today our daily bread
Forgive us our sins
As we forgive
Do not bring us to the test
But deliver us from evil
As Mahatma University Youth Festival
'Pooram' 2016 dram to an end,
the last item - group dance competition
is in progress at stage 1.
Judges please note,
chest no. 3006 on stage.
What's happening?
Are you doing good?
Yeah!
l'll tell you something that's not
directly related to the youth festival.
N4 grandmother and my father used
to ask me to read a lot of books.
And like that, they sent me to learn
Bharatnatyam when l was vey young.
l didn't like it.
They asked me to do the Arangettam
(first peormance) 8then stop it.
l did my Arangettam
and then stopped it.
While studying in school,
they used to make
me participate in fancy dress competitions.
lf my memoy is right, l think
it was while l was in 4th grade;
l was sent on stage in the attire
of a Muslim man - Mammadikka.
Since we had Udaya Studio then,
l didn't have any trouble
getting make up 8 costumes.
So l had a huge bloated leg,
and a big mole on my cheek;
beard, turban;
With a folded 'Mundu';
l should enter holding a
live chicken in my hand.
ARer entering the stage;
l should shout out the price
of the chicken and all that.
lt was the first time in my life that l
was holding a live chicken in my hands.
l entered the stage, holding the chicken,
all frightened 8 shivering;
The chicken was flapping its
wings and making noise;
and l was cying
Iouder than that.
And the next day, a photo came on the paper
asking who cried better, me orthe chicken?
So l was saying that..
lf you read a stoy,
lf you read a novel,
lfyou read a poem,
Or ifwe watch an art
form or study it;
lfyou ask what's the benefit,
in a utility angle,
there won't be any benefits.
But it will be stored
in our brain and heart.
We will reflect that.
And that it will return a lot
more to us, with interest;
l've understood that in
my journey after that.
l'm here to present the
prizes to the winners.
Congratulations to all those
won in the competitions.
And to the others,
l wish you that the memories
that these days gifted you,
may them be so special that you can
hold them close to your hearts.
Thank you so much.
Namaste.

ln evey gentle drizzle,
amid evey snomtorm,
Let this song of unity
reverberate eveywhere.
Let this song of unity

Let all hatred end tonight.
Tomorros sun won't forget to rise.
Let all hatred end tonight.
Tomorros sun won't forget to rise.
Kindling all our inner lamps,
Let's dance with joined hands.
