Redrum (2022) Movie Script
1
13th March, 2021.
The 60th birthday of Rahman Bhuiyan,
the famous industrialist.
On this special occasion, a grand party
has been organized at his house.
Mr. Akhtar Hossain, a close friend and
his business partner, has also come to the party.
As the birthday present,
He brought a medium-sized bottle
of expensive gray-goose vodka.
Seeing that bottle, Mr Bhuiyan's joy
increased even more.
The two friends moved away from
the party crowd and sat in another room.
The drinking continued.
In no time, they drank up
the whole bottle.
At the end of the party,
the guests went to their homes.
It was late at night. Mr Bhuiyan and
Mr Akhtar were sleeping in their respective beds.
Suddenly both of them fell sick.
When their situation worsened,
both were hospitalized.
Even though Mr. Bhuiyan somehow survived,
Mr Akhtar did not.
Did Mr. Akhtar...
ever talked about anyone who...
might have an issue with him or,
any stalker, crazy fans or something?
Well...
Akhtar hasn't been himself
for the last couple of days now.
It was evident in his face, you know?
Something was,...
...really bothering him.
We'd talk again if I think it's necessary.
[clears throat] There's something
you should know from me.
We've taken control of the...
CCTV footage.
A big tall brown guy...
is seen...
snooping around his house.
I mean that's what we gathered
from the CCTV footage, you know?
My point is...
Do you happen to recall meeting
someone like that... ever anywhere?
It might be you or Mr. Akhtar...
just in case anything rings your bell.
I think I do.
The description you just provided me...
is matching with someone...
I remember Akhtar talking to
just outside the office.
He was quite aggravated, you know?
I was.. actually on my way out..
was in a bit of a hurry.
Unfortunately...
I could not see his face clearly.
Okay, then. Bye for now.
Take rest.
I'm confused about the
tall big brown guy you mentioned.
There's nothing of that sort
in the case file.
Well, that's because I was bluffing.
Then what about the person
he saw outside the office?
Hello Azad...
Are you done taking the statement, Rashed?
Yeah.
Great. Get back to office,
let's start the interrogation.
I don't think that's necessary anymore.
The primary suspect is right here
with us in this hospital.
Who is it?
It's Rahman Bhuiyan.
Rashed, are you crazy?
Just hear me out.
Mr. Rahman had 70% of the alcohol
consumed that evening.
He's out of the woods. But
how can Mr. Akhtar die...
having only 30% of that?
Do you have an explanation?
Listen, I think Mr Akhtar was
physically not in a good shape.
That's why he couldn't resist
the poison mixed in the drink despite having 30% of it.
As Mr Rahman was
comparatively in a better shape
he was able to resist all the
poison that was mixed in drink.
I'm aware of all this.
Wanna listen to my theory?
The drink wasn't poisoned.
Are you trying to
dismiss the forensic report, Rashed?
No. I'm not dismissing anything.
Just pay attention to what I've gathered.
In fact, there was poison.
Just wasn't mixed in the booze.
It was in those ice cubes.
thanks to Mr Rahman Bhuiyan.
Mr. Rahman...
...had a lot of drink.
peg after peg...
It was nonstop.
However...
He didn't take ice
as much as Mr. Akhtar.
Because the ice cubes were poisoned.
He was well aware...
of the fatality of
taking of the ice cubes.
On the other hand, Mr Akhtar...
having no clue whatsoever...
took time finishing each peg...
with sufficient amount of ice...
that melted to poison the
whole drink completely.
The poison kept
going down his throat.
And he went on to eat
everything else to compliment that.
And succumbed to death.
Mr. Rahman is the brain behind all this.
He was well aware of the specific amount
of poison that could make a person sick
but won't necessarily kill him.
What do you think now?
Well, it's a crazy
theory, you know?
But it somehow makes sense.
The human brain can be
divided into two parts.
Things made up from imagination
originated from the brain's right side.
And the right side is responsible for
all the facts we recall from our memory.
Hence, when a person looks
at someone and speaks,
the eyeball moves to the
left while telling the truth.
And when lying, the eyeball
moves to the right.
Of course, this does not
apply to everyone.
But 50-52 percent of people
do this unknowingly.
While answering the first three of...
the five questions I asked,
Rahman Bhuiyan's eyeball ...
...moved to the left.
That means he was recalling
actual events from memory.
But during the fourth question,
the eyeball suddenly moved to the right.
And at the time of the fifth question,
I was finally confident about the theory.
Human eyeballs tend
to expose hidden lies.
...unknowingly.
Nila
My baby.
Are you okay?
Just a bad dream.
Shall we get out?
Oh! We've reached. Okay!
Come on.
Give this to me.
Are you sure you're okay?
Did you hear any heartbeats?
I'm ending things.
Can't go on like this anymore.
I couldn't find a solution
to my problems.
I feel suffocated...
... all the time!
Nobody is responsible for my situation.
Nobody!
It's only my fate. What can I do?
I had so many plans...
with this handicam.
Nothing came to fruition.
So I thought...
Let's use it to record...
...my last words.
-Hello?
-It's me speaking.
How are you doing?
What is it?
I called to congratulate you.
For becoming a grandpa.
So are we.
It's been long time coming.
So I was saying...
Why don't we patch up?
After all, she's your daughter.
How long should you hold this grudge?
Are you finished?
No. I mean...
So.. did he hang up on you?
Arrogant fuck!
That's the very reason why...
I don't feel like calling him.
Well... I told you.
It's you who couldn't help yourself.
Bloody scoundrel!
Come on. Drop it, now.
Don't forget. You're supposed to
talk to Sohel tomorrow.
I want it done before it gets too late.
We'll see.
Okay. I'm off to the kitchen.
They'll be here any moment now.
Can we slow down a bit, please?
It's the excitement.
Look who's here.
Greetings, brother.
We're big fans.
Can we have a selfie please?
Please, bro.
Can we have a selfie with you, please?
CID has succeeded in solving the
sensational Akhtar Hossain murder case.
Thanks to the intelligence
of Rashed Chowdhury,
popularly known as
Human Law Detector,
CID has been able to
catch the culprit so quickly.
It was revealed in the
investigation that, Rahman Bhuiyan...
killed his business partner Akhtar Hossain
due to a business dispute.
Rashed is a friend of mine.
Right.
I think I should give him a call.
What do you think?
You friend didn't answer your call.
Well, I had a feeling he won't.
At least, I tried.
-How about a text?
-Do what you want. Now, let's go.
Not me.
Mom, I'm full, please.
Oh Come on.
In your condition, you've to
eat as much as you can.
The curry is first class, mom!
I just can't wait to play
with the new baby.
Yes. But you've to be patient.
Now, keep calm and finish up your plate.
Come on. Why are you getting annoyed
at the poor guy?
Ma'am has been asking for you.
Come quickly.
Nila
Do you remember?
You used to dance to my playing?
Hm.
I did.
I wish you hadn't given up dancing.
I'd pick up where I left off.
Promise?
Then how about from right now?
Go.
In my condition, I don't think
it would be a good idea for me to dance.
Ok. Tell me which one.
Your favorite.
[Singing "ei raat tomar amar"
by Hemant Kumar]
Sir! Madam!
Blood! Sir! Madam!
Please, open the door!
Hey! What happened?
Blood? Where is blood?
Over there!
Sohel! Nila!
We've to break in!
The door is locked from the inside.
Get the key!
Sohel, my son! Please, open the door.
Why is nobody answering?
Hurry up!
What the hell? Oh my God!
What's going on? Sohel?
Sohel, my son!
Oh my son! Nila!
Nila...
Should you check on other's property?
I wasn't checking on her.
-Hi
-That was amazing.
I havent finished yet.
Oh you are. Let's go.
We have a date, remember?
-I'm in the middle of a rehearsal.
-I know. But we've to go. Come on!
Let's not get burnt in jealousy.
This will hurt, trust me.
Let's go.
Thanks.
What do you keep writing
in your diary all day?
You're not introvert or something.
Why do you need to maintain a diary?
Rashed.
Are you in charge of this case?
Yes, doc.
Hmm. The department is keeping you busy.
I know your plate is full already.
Still, you're taking on
this celebrity case.
When would you have time to sleep?
Well. I personally requested to
take this case, you know?
He was my...
...best friend.
Please, brief me on the autopsy report.
According to the autopsy report,
his throat was cut with a very
small sharp object.
We've found...
Anesthetics in Sohel's blood.
It means...
Before he was slaughtered,
the killer put him to sleep.
What about the murder weapon?
Very small sharp object...
It could be small surgical knife...
blade...
He probably chose to use something small
to be able to hide or get rid of it quickly.
We are currently on the ground floor of the building,
where Mr. Sohel Khan was residing.
As you can see, they have
just arrived with his body.
Outside, in front of the main gate, a crowd of
curious journalists is growing every minute.
No one is allowed
inside except close relatives.
Anyone entering has to show their NIDs.
You can see the crowd is growing.
Journalists are pouring in.
When is the funeral prayer?
[muffled voice]
The funeral prayer will take place...
...after the Esha prayer.
I always had a feeling...
...that you might not have
a future with Sohel.
I haven't been in touch with
Sohel and Nila for quite a while now.
Every now and then,
they used to call me.
But mostly I ignored those.
It's not like I did that intentionally.
That's the problem with our lives.
We never meant to do the things
we end up doing.
You know what?
This lighter doesn't go
with Beethoven at all!
Of course, it does.
I can see it very clearly.
What do you know about lighters anyway?
You've no idea how unique it is!
I guess it is.
I've never seen anything like it before.
You won't find it anywhere cz
I've got the last manufactured piece.
No shit.
Smoke?
You know, I don't.
Yes. He doesn't. He is a good guy.
But he has a friend who smokes.
So he often smells of cigarettes.
That's right.
I'm the only bad guy around here.
Give me that.
Let me feel something unique.
How about letting me keep it?
-Sorry pal. It can't change hands.
-What would you use it for?
-I'd light up candles.
-Nonsense! Keep your lighter with you, pal!
-Please, honey, try to understand.
-What is there to understand? Damn it!
-Just hear me out, love.
-Don't touch me!
-Just one moment.
-I'd slap you. Don't touch me.
-Why don't you-
-Don't touch me!
What just happened, dude?
Hey guys, do you have any idea
what that was about?
Don't you know their video
has been made viral?
-What video? Let me see.
-What video, dude?
Oh God!
Here's your phone.
I had no idea he could...
turn out to be such an asshole.
What's wrong?
Hey!
So when did you move in here?
Yesterday.
After many years.
I couldn't get around to meet you
after his funeral prayer.
I didn't know...
what to say to you...
what I could do for you, you know?
Hope you are not mad at me for that.
I know you're knee deep with your case.
There's lot at stake.
Everybody is dependent on you.
Yeah, I personally requested...
...to be in charge of this case.
I can imagine what you're going through.
Are you alright?
You know how it is.
Lubna is gone...
Sohel's gone too.
We were four. Now it's only you and I.
Sometimes I feel like the ones
who are gone are the blessed ones.
They are free from everything.
while the livings remain trapped
behind the wheels of fortune.
Sounds good.
Well done, you know?
Philosophy...
No wonder you were
a student of philosophy.
All those days of being wild...
None of us were serious
about our studies.
It can be said that,
Philosophy wasn't our thing.
So career-wise, we went separate ways.
Sohel got into music, me a cop
and you... dancing.
And Lubna...
If she had lived...
she would have gone into filmmaking.
Anyway...
If I were a professor of Philosophy,
I would have patted your back.
and said, "Wow!"
As you know...
...you will be questioned.
Still...
I want to ask you off the record.
Do you suspect anyone?
Did you really have no clue whatsoever
what happened that night?
Rashed, I feel like...
I'm living a nightmare.
I'm trying to wake up. But I can't.
Somehow I feel Im not going
to wake up anytime soon.
Somebody broke into your bedroom and
cut your husband's throat in your presence.
How could you not have a clue?
How could you keep on sleeping?
What kind of horseshit is that?
These are beyond discussion, my friend.
Just tell me why she is
not taken into custody yet.
Nila Khan...
Nila Khan, a daughter of who?
-A Police Officer?
-No. An Army Officer.
Regardless of whose daughter she is,
she can't possibly be above the law.
Why hasn't she been questioned?
Aren't you ashamed to talk nonsense
about a pregnant woman?
Nila is three months pregnant.
Why would she kill her child's father?
Viewers, we just received some
exclusive footage. Let's check it out.
No one is allowed inside
except close relatives.
Anyone entering has to show their NIDs.
You can see the crowd is growing.
Journalists are pouring in.
So Ms... What do you think now?
A wife does not even look at
her husband's body.
She seems completely unfazed, see?
Greetings, Mr. DIG.
I'm okay. Thank you.
I can see the media has already
started passing judgments.
I'm sure you know that...
...my daughter is innocent.
She must not be dragged into this mess.
You know, how these media people are...
They don't think twice before
pointing finger at a respected citizen.
I am not convinced by the Officer
in charge of this case either.
I already told you that...
Sohel was not a good human being.
Perhaps he dug his own grave.
Who knows?
Sohel Khan was one of our finest assets.
He was a superstar.
He was unique in everything, from
his singing style to even his lighter.
His premature departure is
an irreparable loss for our country.
The police should grab that culprit Nila...
by her hair and drag her across
the concrete without showing any mercy.
so that a wife would think
a hundred times before..
..killing her innocent husband
in the future.
-Mind your language!
-Ms. There is a killer on the loose-
Babe, have you heard...
...Maruf switched College?
Did I ask you about him?
I told you, didn't I?
I don't want to hear about Maruf.
Okay fine. Don't be upset.
-Nila, Hey!
-Sir
As you know, the inter-college
cultural program is coming up.
One of the most exciting segments is
a duet of dance and musical instruments.
That means someone will play something
while the other person will dance to it.
I'm sure you guys know each other.
He is one of the finest we have.
I want you two to represent
our College as a team.
Nila...
No is not an option.
All the best.
If you have a problem
teaming up with me...
I can talk him out of it.
Don't worry. I can handle him.
Just let me know the rehearsal time.
I'll be there.
Today, Lubna didn't show up.
She fell sick again.
After her dad was hanged
on false charges,
she started showing symptoms
of mental health issues.
Back then, Lubna was in the ninth grade.
This morning, I went to visit her.
Whenever I see her struggling,
I want to let her know
how much I love her.
But as she is out of it,
I'm back in my shell.
Maybe I will never be able to...
...express my true feelings towards her.
We investigated the crime scene
and unable to find a murder weapon.
We also tested all the sharp objects
from home without any positive results.
And from the CCTV footage,
we've observed that..
there wasn't any unauthorized entry
that night.
However, from 12:15AM to 12:30AM
CCTV was turned off.
From what we gathered
from the caretakers,
is that it was due a power surge.
There wasn't any trace of
breaking and entering in their bedroom.
We did find some traces of scuffling,
but...
it was mostly compromised
by the family members.
So it won't stand in court.
Had we found the murder weapon,
we could have gotten a lead.
So who do we consider...
...as our prime suspect?
Sir, for the time being, our curiosity
lies in Sohel's better half Nila.
Why Nila?
Why?
Is this because the media
already passed their judgment on her?
It's not like that. It's just that
her husband died in the same room
...she was in.
Yet, she didn't notice anything.
By the way, who had the keys?
Sir, one of the keys
was with Nila Khan and
two other spare ones
were left with the dad.
-But there is a problem.
-What problem?
Sir, the problem is Mr. Amzad
handed me only one of the spare keys.
The other one is lost, he says.
Unwrap it for me, please.
Ma'am, can I have a minute?
What?
We actually wanted to interview--
Didn't I make myself clear about
my reluctance to talk to you?
Hey you! Hey!
Stop filming! Stop filming me!
Bloody scoundrel!
You want to film me? Huh?
Fuck!
So, how long have you been in this slum?
-It's been ten years.
-You own this place, don't you?
Then why haven't you filed a report against
those who's been trying to throw you out?
We did. But they don't wanna listen.
I have no place to go, brother. Mercy!
We told you to leave and you didn't.
Keep your damn papers.
-Hey! Let go of him!
-Shut the f up! Leave!
Who the hell are you?
Stop filming. Get out of here!
-Let go of him.
-Not another word or we'd see you too.
-Take the f away.
-Mercy brother! Mercy!
-Shut the f up. I warn you.
Where are you taking him?
Let him go.
Please continue. I better...
Please stay. I don't mind.
-I interrupted you.
-Not at all. I was just practicing, you know?
You'd make it big
oneday. I can sense that.
Please, stop it now.
I just play for fun.
But you...
I'm sure you're gonna
do great in dancing.
I'm not kidding!
-Serious! -I know you're just saying
it for the sake of...
...giving something back to me.
-Right?
-Of course, not.
No. I'm bloody serious. From what
I've seen of you
Be it classical... western...
contemporary...
...you're just perfect in everything.
Not quite everything yet though...
Like I wanted get into Ballet as well...
It just didn't happen yet.
As far as I know, there is a good book
on Ballet dancing, isn't it?
What is the name of that book?
"Inside the land of Ballet"
I have been trying to get hold of
that book for a while,
but I guess it's not available locally.
I'm not even sure if I'd
get it from abroad either.
Okay, then.
I better go for now.
Hey! It's completely okay.
You can stay.
"Inside the land of Ballet"
Thankfully, I brought the last
local copy of this book.
I always had a knack for
collecting books on performing art.
Never thought it could become so useful.
Hopefully, I'd get to see you
do Ballet very soon.
The incident at the slum
traumatized Lubna.
She tried to take her own life.
Thankfully, her mom rescued her on time.
Lubna didn't share her intention
with anyone.
Not even with me.
This was her third suicide attempt.
I'm really worried for her.
Because she hasn't attempted
anything of that sort in last two years.
I began to think she was recovering.
But... No.
She gets triggered by
lies, injustice and deceit.
These are beyond her tolerance level.
So once again she is depressed.
Because she is yet to recover from
her dad's unfair demise.
I have to ensure her peace of mind.
Anyhow.
Is this the same woman who became
a widow not more than a month back?
As you can see,
how easily she was devouring that
ice cream.
Like she never felt a loss.
A criminal who's supposed to be
in jail is out into the open...
...enjoying the time of her life.
None of this would have been possible,
without Rashed Chowdhury's favoritism.
Viewers, for your information,
Rashed Chowdhury and Nila Khan
go way back.
Not only they were in the same college
they are also very good friends.
Are we sure we can leave it
at friendship only?
If you ask me, it's high time we start
calling this relation something else.
Aren't you ashamed of talking dirty
about a respected woman and
police member of society?
Ashamed? Why would I be ashamed of
speaking the truth?
I will fuck your "Moumachi Portal"!
Bunch of Assholes!
Another parcel?
This is the sixth parcel
in last six months, isn't it?
Sir, I think it's time you should take
this matter seriously.
What kind of fan continuously
sends books hiding their identity?
What harm can happen to them
if they come out of the shell?
Only he knows. How could we ever know?
But one thing I know for sure is that
you're having a good time.
You're right.
These are fine novels.
-Specially in the Mystery-Thriller genre.
-Really?
I'm sure you'd like'em too.
At least a good time-pass.
Well, I used to read a lot of novels,
you know?
But after joining the Force...
I'm more interested in the real life
crimes and criminals, you know?
I lost my taste in fiction.
I think you should be more careful.
Let's say,
these books are sent by someone
who wants to harm you.
To do that,
he has poisoned all the pages.
In that case...
every time you turn a page
with your spit, you're getting poisoned.
This way, the final chapter of the book,
can become the final moment
of your life, sir.
Full and final.
But the truth is, I don't read them.
I don't turn the pages either.
It's you who read them.
It's natural for the suspects to
feel nervous during investigations.
So to make them feel a little relaxed,
we've kept the exit within
their eye-sight.
It'll subconsciously give them a
positive vibe about...
...leaving the place anytime they want.
It'll keep them calm.
They'd be able to respond better.
Thus, when a question aggravates and
scares them or make them go into their shell...
I'd be able to notice the change
in their body language better.
Even if the human mind or face,
...is able to conceal the truth,
their body language reveals everything.
Uncle, I hope you don't mind me saying
that we're here to interrogate you.
I know I could do
that at your place.
As you know, it's a Government job.
I'm bound by the rules and regulations.
It's okay, son.
I don't mind.
You get on with it, please.
All I want...
is for you to...
...identify my son's killer
as soon as possible.
Uncle...
I'm like a son to you.
Never think of me otherwise.
How is your back these days?
Much better than before.
Your physiotherapy suggestion worked.
I really miss your 'Nehari' (an Indian dish).
Just make time and come by.
I'd cook for you.
It's been ages since you last came.
As far as I know, you used to take care
of Sohel's financial affairs, didn't you?
Yes.
What about the exchanges?
Did Sohel help you out financially?
No. No.
He didn't need to.
Whenever I needed money,
I used to take it out from his account.
Sohel gave me access to all of them.
So, uncle...
Let's get it out of the way.
According to the investigation,
we gathered that...
the killer...
...is someone from the inside.
What are you saying, son?
Who do you think it might be?
It can't either be my wife or my son.
But...
Nila, my daughter-in-law
has been acting...
...strange of late.
Sohel used to love her a lot, you know?
But after his death, Nila's demeanor...
feels even stranger to me.
So you think Nila is behind it?
I don't know.
I don't want to think of her that way.
But at this moment,
I can't point the finger
at anyone else, you know?
So what kind of...
...strange demeanor
you're talking about?
Everything about her
feels strange to me.
How can a wife sleep next to...
...her husband's corpse?
After Sohel's death,
we tried to be there for her.
We even gave her moral support
when everyone was throwing dirt at her.
But the very next day to the funeral,
she moved out.
She didn't even care to tell us.
Her dad is also a strange species.
All these years,
he has been avoiding us.
But he came over right away,
having heard of our son's death.
Okay, Aunty.
How was your relationship with Sohel?
I am his step-mother.
But...
I never made him feel any negligence
that could hurt him.
I even...
adored him more than
my own son, Murtoza.
You can verify it through Sohel's dad.
Why are you trembling?
It's just an interrogation.
Nothing to be scared of.
Okay...
The night Sohel died...
The food that was...
The food that he took...
I mean... who did that cooking?
Son...
In my family,
I am the only one who cooks.
Our pathology report states that
there were...
...anesthetics found...
...inside his body.
Our guess is that...
it was mixed in his dinner.
How did Murtoza and Sohel get along
with each other?
They...
They got along really well.
[stammering] Murtoza used to like him a lot.
I didn't like him at all.
We were always at each other's throats.
In fact, we were not on talking terms
throughout the last year.
So what is your take?
Who might have murdered Sohel?
Batman.
I think...
Batman murdered him.
Batman?
Why Batman?
Why not Superman or Spiderman?
Very funny.
If I think it was Batman...
then obviously I won't name Superman,
would I?
Where is the key?
I don't have a key to that room.
I never mentioned about the room, did I?
All I asked about was the key.
Why did you bring the room into it?
The key is with Murtoza.
I can say with
one hundred percent assurance.
How can I be so sure?
Rashed, he is a psychopath.
He stalks me all the time.
I told Sohel about him. He tried to
teach him some manners. But it didn't work.
There are times
I can't find my own things.
What kind of things?
My private things.
Undergarments.
Everybody knows about it, don't they?
Was he tried to be treated?
He was away for quite some time.
Then one day, his mom thought
he was cured, so she brought him back.
Do you think it's him who did it?
I think he is capable of anything.
How was your relationship with Sohel
in his final days?
What... [stammering] do you think?
Everything was normal.
I mean it was fine.
I mean there was no issue
between you two?
What issue?
Rashed, I don't know
what you're getting at.
Nila
Our eyes are the window to our soul.
When a normal person speaks normally,
he blinks.
The rate at he blinks is...
8 times per minute.
But when that normal person
starts acting abnormally
and tries to hide something,
...his blinking rate changes.
When our conversation began,
you were fine.
There was no abnormality
in your answering.
Your blinking rate was also normal.
As we started talking about Sohel
that rate has changed abruptly.
Nila
What are you trying to hide?
Lie?
Do you know what lying actually is?
When a truth is badly expressed
it becomes a lie.
A lie is just a part of the truth.
They are not
entirely different.
As you know,
we all have something in the past.
We all have secrets.
Don't we, Rashed?
People in that family are kinda weird.
I feel like every one of them
has something dark hidden inside.
Do you suspect anyone?
I do.
Murtoza.
I don't think he's a good person.
Why is that?
He...
...spends all day in his PC
...watching dirty things.
I can't say more about it.
He also does something involving Nila.
Nasty stuff.
I'm terrified by him. So I stay away.
Okay.
What about his mom and dad?
What is your take
on their relationship with Sohel?
With Sohel,
I've always seen them fighting
over money.
They used to keep pressing him for money
and he refused.
Sir, how would you summarize
the interrogation?
To be honest...
I didn't expect...
all of them to...
...lie like that.
Apart from the maid.
Only she...
...is telling the truth.
Whatever she was saying was true.
Only the maid...
is telling the truth.
Everyone else was lying.
Liars speak less.
They have minimum hand movements.
They blinks a lot.
Their lips don't have gaps.
That's the reason why
when they smile... it looks forced.
Cz' they try to smile with lips.
But their eyes tell me
whole another story.
And when an honest person smiles...
his whole face smiles.
Like...
the famous Mona Lisa smile.
What is our next plan of action, sir?
Plan of action?
Let's see. I was thinking of doing...
The Pinocchio Test.
This Pinocchio Test will
confirm my theory of them lying.
I have no idea about this test.
If you could kindly explain?
No idea?
I mean I've never tried it
under anyone's supervision, you know?
But you heard about Pinocchio,
didn't you? -Yes, sir.
Pinocchio is punished for each lie
he tells by undergoing
further growth of his nose.
And when a human being tells a lie,
the outer portion of his nose...
and eye...
...heat up. Suddenly...
the temperature rises.
However, they don't feel that heat.
It's invisible to the naked eye.
It can't be felt on bare hands.
It can only be detected through
a special thermal camera.
But can't it done through lie detectors?
I'm not quite sure how effective...
...lie detectors are.
I mean it doesn't feel reliable to me.
Suspects are wired way before
their interrogation starts.
They often get nervous.
Even before the questioning.
My strategy is...
to keep a suspect calm and completely
relaxed before the interrogation starts.
When we'd do this Pinocchio Test,
the suspect won't have a clue...
of a camera...
recording everything about him far away.
Understood.
Sir, check this out.
Popular musician Sohel
Khan's personal lawyer
has announced his will
at a press conference today.
Sohel bequeathed all his property
and money to his wife Nila.
The will states that as soon as Sohel
dies, all his property will go to Nila.
It's a conspiracy of another level, bro.
The wife is the murderer.
She should be hung till death.
Sohel Khan is an emotion to all of us.
We simply can't accept his death.
We do not understand why Nila is not arrested
even after becoming a prime suspect.
If these Nilas are not punished, the decapitated bodies
of husbands will be found in their bedrooms.
Exactly, bro.
We want punishment for Nila.
We love Sohel Khan.
We want justice for Sohel Khan.
All we demand is justice for Sohel Khan
and Punishment for Nila.
So, what do you think now, Ma'am?
Everyone is protesting.
Do you think all of them are fools?
Because you guys instigated it.
That's what you do, right?
You poisoned their minds.
They're simply speaking
what you put in their minds.
-We poison their minds, right? Okay.
Let me give you
a juice little information, Ma'am.
I want you to plan a special episode
for your show.
It will be on me.
Uncle, how're you doing?
-Sir
-Ikram, later. I'll let you know.
What's up?
You just got rid of your subordinate,
Cz' you...
...are scarred that he might know
your secrets, am I right?
Uncle, I don't have any secret.
And nothing scares me.
You don't say!
I see.
You're a cop.
You've got power.
So why have you brought me here?
Am I also in your suspects' list?
Uncle, you're well aware that...
No one can be removed from the list
...before the culprit is identified.
I won't blame you for taking me
in as a suspect.
Because...
I've thought about killing Sohel..
...many times in the past.
There is a film I am a big fan of.
The Dangerous Game.
It was released in 1934.
I've watched that film many times.
It's based on...
..an island.
A count lives in that island.
His name is...
Count Zaroff.
Whenever a yacht...
...is stuck in that island
he brings out his gun and go after it.
That's when the game begins.
He starts killing everyone who're
stuck in that island from the yacht.
The passengers of the yacht
get into the forest to survive.
And that's when...
the game gets even more interesting,
more thrilling, more exciting!
The hunters hunt the animals...
...and Count Zaroff
...hunts the human.
While watching it...
I think of myself as...
...Count Zaroff.
In my imaginary forest...
there is only one prey.
That's Sohel.
Nice story.
But there is a huge gap
between reality and imagination.
Uncle...
Now tell me for real.
whether you're involved in
Sohel's murder or not.
You won't be able to
detect my lies, you know?
I'm a trained liar.
You're gonna use your mouth
for lying, uncle.
That's because you can control
what you're gonna speak.
What you can't control is
how your face is gonna react.
That's why regardless of...
how well trained you are in lying,
a good observer can always detect you.
I almost forgot...
that you are...
...a human lie detector.
May I have one?
Cigar.
6...6...6...
That's the devil's number.
You're saying you had
no idea about Sohel's will?
No.
I didn't.
We never had a clue that...
...he could do something like that.
Whatever he did... he did.
I don't hold anything against my son.
May he rest in peace.
They're lying.
Of course, they knew.
Only Nila wasn't aware of that.
They used to argue a lot over
the property papers.
11.11.12
You're still holding on to this locket.
Ever since Lubna made me wear it,
I never took it off.
-Hey Guys! From today...
-It's my favorite time of the day.
You guys are officially a couple
from today, aren't you?
So we've got a gift for you...
on your anniversary.
-Gift?
-Take it.
What is it?
Come on. Let us see.
They are identical.
That's right.
This one is for Nila.
Let me put it on you.
Both are the same.
No need to get upset.
Have you seen?
It has the date engraved in it.
Here's yours.
-They are identical. Wow!
-That's right.
-Thanks a lot, Lubna. They're gorgeous.
-Thank you. Thank you.
Yeah. I hope you remember the date.
-It's engraved.
-11.11.12
Do you remember ours?
-Got you. You forgot.
-Of course, not.
Then, tell me.
-I know you forgot. Got you. Got you.
-Oh! Come on. I do remember.
-It's 8.7.
-7.7...
-...2009
-That's right.
-Anyway, I've got something for you too.
-A gift for me?
You didn't tell me...
Oh! That's just your Hard Drive.
Yeah. You wanted to borrow it.
The Pinocchio Test turned out
to support my theory.
Except for Meenu,
everyone else was lying.
But it's not like they're lying because
of their involvement in the murder.
Each of them might have
different motives for lying.
All I have to do is sort out the lie
directly linked to the murder.
It's difficult. Not impossible.
If you were not carrying Sohel's child,
I would have married you off already.
Forget it, dad.
It's not right to have
a grudge against the deceased.
You're still..
...fetishizing over making me
marry someone else.
Mind your manners.
What did you achieve by marrying
of your own will?
Have you managed to hold it together?
Why are you getting so aggravated?
I haven't said anything to
aggravate you.
You were just a child
when your mom died.
I treated you with great care.
I never thought you'd hurt me that much.
Of course...
it's too early for you to understand.
When you'll be hurt by your own child...
you'd know...
what it feels to be hurt
by your own blood.
All my life...
I lived as an honorable man.
Money is nothing...
...compared to honor.
On that night...
you chose to go against my will.
And all the well-earned respect
that I gained...
were burnt to ashes...
... just like that.
I'm ending things.
Can't continue this life anymore.
I couldn't find a solution
to my problems.
I feel suffocated...
...all the time.
Nobody is responsible for my situation.
Nobody!
Do you any way behind
your husband's death?
Don't be ridiculous! Shall we?
Even if I am somehow behind his death,
I'd definitely not confess it
on live telecast, would I?
Well, our viewers and
the fans of Sohel Khan believe that...
you murdered Sohel Khan
to inherit his property.
Not only that. They think...
you have a special relationship with
the CID officer Rashed Chowdhury
that kept you from getting arrested
despite being the prime suspect.
That's it?
What are the other fan theories
Come on. I'd really wanna know.
They're also saying that the father of
the child you're carrying isn't Sohel Khan.
-Let me tell you why I came here.
-Sure.
I'm not here to do talk show.
I'd like to show something else.
Umm.. Of course.
We've got a hot show right here
ready for...
...any kind of ..exclusive footage.
And thousands of viewers are
watching it live and...
waiting eagerly for it!
So if you want to say something
to them...
there's the camera. Go for it.
No. I better...
...show it.
Sure thing.
-You really wanna know who did it, huh?
-What the hell, please stop it!
-Stop recording. Stop recording.
-Don't you dare stop it. Come here, you!
Listen to me carefully.
You've to watch your back.
Your documentary is about...
..very high profile people.
You're going to expose their shit.
They're not good people.
Yes sir.
I'll be careful.
Rashed, you know what I think?
I think everyone of us...
...should stand and protest
from wherever we are.
I'm doing whatever I can.
Someday, maybe I will too.
Of course you would.
You're my supercop.
Get in. Get in.
The ride is here.
There it is.
They're never on time.
Today they are it seems.
That means you're still sad.
If you go on like this,
I won't be able to go.
Even better.
Hey! Listen.
I'm not going.
You guys carry on.
Oh I was kidding. You can go.
I'm not sad anymore.
Listen, brother.
Get your bags. He is going.
Go.
But don't stay
more than seven days, please.
I will miss you.
Stop it. They're watching.
I'm going to bite your neck off.
I'd do the same too.
Viewers, what we've been saying
on this talk show,
...for the last two and a half months
has finally come true.
Unfaithful, traitor and murderer -
these three adjectives are now
firmly attached to Mrs. Nila Khan.
Now, it's pretty much over
for Nila Khan.
To see how one roll of the dice
changed the whole game,
pay attention to this video.
A YouTube channel called Beautiful
Motherland has recently released
a vlog about the natural beauty
and Eco resort of Srimangal.
This vlog coincidentally caught...
Nila Khan, the wife of late famous
musician Sohel Khan,
walking around intimately
with another man.
As soon as Nila caught the eye
of the viewers in the vlog,
there was a stir on the internet.
Sohel Khan's fans have already made
the video viral by trimming off...
the part with Nila and
uploading it separately.
I think this time,
Mr. Human Lie Detector...
might apprehend Mrs. Nila Khan,
what do you think?
I told you. I've telling this from
the very beginning, you know?
She surely can't get out of this.
Greetings, brother.
Greetings.
I'm still a freshman.
I needed some career advice.
If you don't mind,
can I take a seat?
Actually I'm in the middle of
a lot of things right now and...
I can't recall seeing you
in the campus before.
That's because I'm always occupied
with books and studies, you know?
As you're one of the toppers
in the first two years in our department
you're like an inspiration.
Still if I have disturbed you,
I can leave.
No. It's fine. You can sit.
I'm here for another fifteen minutes.
Tell me.
How can I be of any help?
I am Bithi.
If you don't mind,
we can have coffee while we're at it.
-Coffee?
-I really feel like one, please.
I think it's already too late. Not sure
if they've got Coffee now. Let me check.
Oh Come on. I'm a junior.
Let me get it for us.
Ok. Great.
And listen.
If you get it...
don't bother about the bills.
Ask them to put it on my tab.
Wow. You're quick.
Thank you.
Now tell me how I can help you.
You can help me with my studies, you know?
I'm getting paranoid by all these pressure.
Main thing is... the focus.
You have to be focused.
No distraction whatsoever.
So...
first I need to know
how focused you are.
Carry on.
That's it. You know...
I don't know how...
I feel a little...
...dizzy..
I think I better...
-What are you doing?
-It's nothing.
Rashed.
Are you sure about this?
I mean...
If Nila ever finds out...
How would she know?
I just found you...
...a way in.
It's a trick.
I mean... it may work
or it may not.
If it works, great.
Haven't you heard?
Shakespeare said.. everything is fair in
...love.. and only love!
What?
Don't worry, dude!
Nila Khan, the prime suspect of the
Sohel Khan murder case was undoubtedly
involved in an extramarital affair.
Perhaps that's the reason why,
Sohel Khan had to be murdered.
Rashed, I didn't kill anyone.
Dad, I didn't do it.
Trust me, dad. I didn't do it.
I didn't do anything.
For the sake of my child,
trust me I didn't do it.
I didn't do it, Dad.
Rashed, what the---
For the sake of my child,
trust me I didn't do it.
I told you, I did not.
Let go of me.
Dad, ...Dad!
My name is Majnu.
I did time for 25 years and
it's been two years since I'm out.
It was me who broke into
that house to steal.
At 12:15AM, when the CCTV
wasn't functioning,
I was able to get inside and
tried to steal.
Before the CCTV was on, I got out.
But while stealing, Sohel saw me.
Therefore...
I had to kill him.
I got spooked, and hence, left the
house without touching anything else.
Nice.
Very nice.
So this statement is yours?
Yes sir. It's mine.
I hope you know...
you can get hanged for this.
I do.
As I murdered someone
I'm bound to get hanged.
Okay.
Take him away.
Are you convinced by this fraud, sir?
No. Ikram.
I didn't believe a word he wrote.
However, he has confessed to the crime.
We have to take him into custody.
Sir, I have information.
Karim Sheikh is sending
her daughter to US permanently.
Within seven days,
Nila will be out of all this.
And here, someone confessed to the crime.
The truth is we can't do much right now.
-But sir, we still will be able to--
-You can go now.
What the hell, Sohel?
Speak up.
How could you scandalize
a decent guy like Maruf?
Nila and Maruf love each other so much!
How could you break their relation?
How could you do this?
No!
I'm not gonna stand here
and wait to see an injustice grow.
I'm going to call Nila
and tell her everything.
-Lubna!
-You will see.
Lubna, Rashed did all these.
Rashed. - What?
Rashed was behind all these.
I mean...
Rashed was the master-planned it all.
I simply followed his instructions.
I was too scarred to tell you.
Trust me I didn't want any of these.
I begged Rashed not
to go through with this.
I honestly didn't want to
break their relationship.
Lubna, I really love her, Lubna.
Trust me, I really do.
She loves me too.
Lubna, I really don't want her to...
...I don't want her to leave me.
Trust me I told Rashed many times
not to do that.
Maruf and Nila were good together.
There was no need to destroy that!
I...
But Rashed didn't listen to me.
I knew right there and then...
it would come back to bite us.
I struggle to face ...
...Nila these days, you know?
Lubna, Lubna...
Please, don't tell her anything.
Just listen to me. Keep it down.
Hello, Rashed.
Are you the one behind
Nila and Maruf's break-up?
Huh?
Answer me!
I've just learnt everything from Sohel.
What?
[INAUDIBLE]
I...
Rashed, I do believe you.
I thought you're going to...
...stand against crimes oneday.
Today, you're a criminal.
Lubna
Trust me I tried to warn Rashed...
...about the consequences
in case it gets out.
The precious friendship that we have
can be on the edge of destruction.
Now, if Nila finds out...
...about us,
everything will be over.
-Sohel, just leave me alone.
-Promise me, you won't tell her.
-I said, leave me alone. Get lost.
-Ok. But you've to promise me
You aren't gonna tell Nila ever!
-Are you leaving or not?
-See if Nila finds out...
-Get the hell out of here!
-Tell me you're going to keep quiet.
Rashed did it all.
I'm not involved in this, okay?
If you tell her everything,
I will be finished.
-Just get lost.
-Please, don't tell her anything.
Lubna, Listen, Lubna.
Please, don't tell her anything.
-Just get the hell out of here.
-Don't tell her, Lubna.
Today, you're a criminal.
This was her last word for me.
She took her own life out of
sheer disappointment on me.
I couldn't stop it.
When Lubna hung up on me, I immediately
called her mom to rush to the house.
But despite her efforts,
it was too late.
Only if Sohel had the guts to
stay with Lubna that day.
probably Lubna couldn't have done it.
Nevertheless, I can't put the
blame on Sohel.
That would be silly.
Actually the blame was on me.
To help a friend, I committed a crime
without thinking about its consequences.
That ended up costing me my love.
If only I had known that...
something like that would happen,
I would never have left her there alone.
Buddy.
You're not going to tell Nila, are you?
What?
That it was us behind that thing.
That day, in that graveyard,
I lost many of my loved ones at once.
I lost Lubna.
Her mom didn't try to
get in touch with me ever since.
Nila, Sohel...
who were the reason why
I committed that crime...
I couldn't make myself stay close
to them anymore.
So I moved on.
May I go in for...
Not now.
He had a severe concussion.
He is in a coma.
-Is he?
-Yes.
Have you tried to contact his family?
Have you tried to contact his family?
Yes. His mom is on the way.
Good.
Rashed sir had an accident last night.
He is in ICU.
I heard about Rashed.
I have a flight to catch.
Otherwise, I'd have visited him.
I'm in bit of a hurry.
Now what?
Stay well.
Stay safe.
Wish you all the best.
Dad!
What the hell is your problem?
It was hidden in plain sight
this whole time!
Rashed sir is in a coma.
He's still unconscious.
Mr Majnu was actually
brought by Karim Sheikh.
He was offered money to
take the blame off Nila.
Even if he had died, his family
would never have to worry about money.
Sohel's blood and Nila's fingerprint
were both found in that piece of blade.
So it was proved beyond doubt that
Nila is guilty of murder.
Her sentence will be carried out
once she gives birth.
She kept refusing to admit that
she did the murder.
But it didn't work.
Further interrogation revealed that
the child's father was Maruf.
So Maruf was held guilty
of being an accomplice.
As Maruf was away,
his case will remain pending.
I started getting applause from
everywhere for solving the case.
Everything was going well.
But I was missing Rashed sir.
Somewhere, something didn't feel right.
That locket idea came from a novel
named An Unusual Murder.
The criminal hid the murder weapon
there as well.
So Nila hid it in her locket.
Why would she do that?
It's such a tiny thing.
She could easily get rid of it,
couldn't she?
There is a proverb.
Too much cunning ends up with a noose.
It gotta be changed.
Now it's supposed to be-
Too much cunning ends up with a locket.
Nila tried to be too clever.
So she hid the blade in her locket.
But her luck betrayed her.
The blade still had her fingerprint
and Sohel's blood.
Where did you get the clue
about the locket?
From one of those novels,
you got from your fan.
It's all a coincidence, after all.
I just got lucky.
But you know what's funny?
I haven't been getting any book
from that fan in the last four months.
And I...
checked out that...
Beautiful Motherland, YouTube channel.
The last video uploaded
in that channel was...
the video on Nila.
There hasn't been any new upload
after that.
What are you getting at, sir?
What I am getting at is a theory.
What if somebody wants to frame Nila?
This whole time...
that person was just...
spoon-feeding us the clues.
Did I do something wrong?
If you and Sohel didn't do that to me
my life would have been different today.
It still doesn't make sense to me,
you know Rashed?
You didn't tell me the truth
even after Lubna died.
Your loyalty towards
your friend is exemplary.
You know what I think now?
I think Sohel was more important
to you than Lubna.
Anyway...
The whole country wanted
my head on a pike.
I'm slowly getting there.
Denying the truth
doesn't change the fact.
If this is the truth...
..they're after...
Then so be it.
Nila...
Did you murder Sohel for real?
Well, you're a human lie-detector.
Don't you know the answer?
You're supposed to know the answer.
Your thing with Maruf...
Tell me from the beginning.
Don't leave out anything.
I got to know about it
one and half years back.
Bithi called me up and
asked to meet her.
She was crying a river.
Her words gave me an impression
that she was dying.
Bithi confessed everything to me
and asked for forgiveness.
You made her an financial offer
she couldn't refuse.
Then you used her to create rifts
between Maruf and me.
Maruf was completely innocent that day.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
So all this time, I lived
a conjugal life based on a lie.
So I tracked Maruf down and
we got in touch.
He often had to be away for business.
He couldn't get over me.
He didn't get married.
It was very natural for me by then
to start hating Sohel.
And to rekindle my relationship
with Maruf.
Gradually we became intimate again.
Sohel was infertile.
He was taking medication.
So when I got pregnant,
I convinced Sohel that he was the father.
Sohel used to trust me wholeheartedly.
He didn't think twice.
He was convinced that
he was the father of Maruf's child.
Meanwhile, Maruf and I decided that...
we would move abroad
after I gave birth to our child.
That's why I wanted to tell Sohel everything
when my pregnancy was confirmed.
But Maruf told me that...
it would take a couple of years more
to process everything...
...financially and legally.
However, if Sohel did something rash
by then and harmed the child,
...none of us...
...would be able to stand it.
Welcome to the special webinar organized
by Bangladesh CID in association with Scotland Yard.
Our topic today is
Selective Attention or Blind Spot.
We'd start with participating
in an experiment.
Pay attention to the screen.
On the screen, we see four people
in white dresses and four in black.
White and black, both teams
have one basketball each.
Now, these two teams will play
each other for 30 seconds and...
You've to count how many times the white
team has passed the ball between them.
OK, then let's start.
How many passes did you count?
If your answer is 15,
then correct.
But who saw the giant "black figure" that went
through the middle of the players during the game?
This "Black Gorilla" is basically our blind spot.
We were all so busy counting the passes,
...that a giant gorilla passed
in front of our eyes,
but we didn't see it.
Detectives, while solving cases,
occasionally fall prey to blind spots.
Suspect or evidence is right in front
of their eyes. But they do not see it.
Actually, the things we focus on,
...things we want to see,
...our eyes show us precisely that.
Hence blind spots are very dangerous.
I'm ending things.
I can't go on like this anymore.
Finally, I've cracked the Black Gorilla
of Sohel's murder case.
Thanks to Lubna's suicide clip,
The gorilla was always
right in front of me.
But I wasn't able to spot it.
That suicide clip was constantly
pointing me towards that blind spot.
But I never paid attention to that.
Because the Black Gorilla or the killer...
...has always been in my blind spot.
To make this theory stand in court,
I need some evidence immediately.
Nila and Sohel's lockets were identical,
but there was a subtle difference.
Nila's locket had flowers carved
on its back.
But the locket where the blade was found
had no flower carving.
I have to go to Srimangal.
I must find out the identity
of the vlogger
who exposed the scandalous
video of Nila and Maruf.
If I am able to track him down,
I'll be able to cage
the elusive black gorilla.
I got in touch with the resort,
where Nila and Maruf checked in.
and managed to collect the vlogger's
handwriting from their registry.
He used a fake ID. Still I was confident
of using that handwriting to good effect.
Cz' I will cross-match it with
the handwriting of my anonymous fan,
..collected from the
book parcel service.
Who is the owner of this lighter?
Me. I'm the owner.
Sir, actually...
...there was a guy here
who made videos.
While leaving, he mistakenly
left this lighter.
It looked so unique,
that ... I...
...was immediately fond of it
cleaning up his room.
So I kept it.
He did come back and asked for it.
But I refused to give it back to him.
It was a mistake, sir.
Finally, the Black Gorilla is revealed.
Despite repeatedly going through
Lubna's suicide clip,
it never occurred to me that
the other death could also be a suicide.
The Black Gorilla in Sohel's murder case
is actually Sohel's suicide.
I never suspected my friend.
Because he...
...was always in my...
...blind spot.
Hello Ikram.
Sir, I tried to reach you many times.
But you didn't answer.
I am in Srimangal.
Listen.
That fan of mine,
who sends me books,
via book parcel service.
Take out his handwriting.
Send it to me.
And listen. I gathered some evidence
in Srimangal,
...that might just prevent
Nila's execution.
But sir, they've decided to carry out
Nila's execution right on this night.
As soon as I was informed,
I tried your phone.
But you didn't receive.
They're doing it tonight?
Wasn't it supposed to be a week later?
Due to public pressure,
they had to take evasive action.
The execution will be effective
at eleven o'clock tonight.
I'm trying to set up a special court
to prevent the death sentence.
Sohel eventually learnt about
Nila's extramarital with Maruf.
And realized Nila was selling him
Maruf's child as his...
...the whole time.
He was crazy about Nila.
So her betrayal literally tore him apart
from the inside.
Sohel was certain about one thing.
That he lost Nila forever.
She would never be able
to love him back.
But without Nila, Sohel ceases to exist.
Nila was everything to him.
So he had come up with
such a self-destructive plan.
Sohel will leave this world the day
Nila's child enters this world.
Perhaps that's what he thought of.
He was working on his own murder
for a long time.
As a part of that plan,
He was trying to spoon-feed me clues
as one of my fans through those books.
He also arranged for me
to receive the last book
...after he died.
Sohel thought I was still into books
like I was in College.
Sohel knew very well that
if he was to be murdered,
I'd definitely be involved
in his case somehow.
He stalked Nila and Maruf to Srimangal
and captured that video himself...
...in disguise.
To make his point, he went on
to capture more footage.
Then with some YouTube marketing,
he managed to pile up
a good amount of subscribers,
on Beautiful Motherland,
his YouTube channel.
Before his death, he implemented
the schedule post option
to publish the viral video.
Not only that, he made sure that
Nila became the prime suspect.
That's why he wrote off all his property
in Nila's name.
Sohel could simply murder Nila
as an act of revenge if he wished.
But to him,
that would have been mercy on Nila.
He made sure she was hated by all.
He made sure she suffered giving birth
but failed to even get a chance
to caress her child.
As a final nail in the coffin,
he made sure she got hanged
in utter shame.
A few days before his murder,
Sohel may have...
anesthetized the sleeping Nila.
And took his fingerprints
on one half of the blade.
He later used his own blood on the
same blade to make a fake murder weapon.
Then he inserted that carefully
inside his locket.
On the night of the murder, he again
put her to sleep with anesthetics.
Then he simply exchanged
Nila's locket with his own.
With another half blade,
Sohel went to the washroom,
where he himself had taken
some anesthetics as well.
He cleaned the handkerchief well and
wiped off all the remaining chloroform.
Then he dried it with a hairdryer
and put it on the shelf.
He tore the label off the chloroform
bottle and threw it out the window.
Then it was time for him to slit
his own throat inside that washroom.
Sohel was aware.
He knew the exact area where he
needed to slit for him to bleed out.
Afterwards, he slipped the
blade piece through the sinkhole.
That's how he got rid of
the murder weapon forever.
He somehow managed to get his body
out of the bathroom and into the room.
He was struggling.
But I guess the idea of revenge...
...was working as a painkiller
at that moment.
Sohel's body then slowly
fell to the ground.
Before that happened, perhaps he
was looking at Nila for the last time.
After all, he loved Nila
with everything he had.
But that love had already...
... become deadly and sickening.
Something... Sohel didn't realize.
I ran Sohel's handwriting with the handwriting
of that fan and that of the vlogger,
which resulted in a 100% match.
Besides, the lighter rescued from the resort
is a massive piece of evidence in this case.
Convincing the special court judge to
stop Nila's execution is quite doable.
However, I do realize...
how I am somewhat responsible
for all this mess.
IN COLLEGE, if I had not broken the
relationship between Nila and Maruf,
then perhaps today,
Sohel, Nila, Maruf, Lubna, my love,
all our lives might have been different.
My one wrongdoing...
... turned everything upside down.
That's why I have to redeem myself.
...on behalf of everyone.
13th March, 2021.
The 60th birthday of Rahman Bhuiyan,
the famous industrialist.
On this special occasion, a grand party
has been organized at his house.
Mr. Akhtar Hossain, a close friend and
his business partner, has also come to the party.
As the birthday present,
He brought a medium-sized bottle
of expensive gray-goose vodka.
Seeing that bottle, Mr Bhuiyan's joy
increased even more.
The two friends moved away from
the party crowd and sat in another room.
The drinking continued.
In no time, they drank up
the whole bottle.
At the end of the party,
the guests went to their homes.
It was late at night. Mr Bhuiyan and
Mr Akhtar were sleeping in their respective beds.
Suddenly both of them fell sick.
When their situation worsened,
both were hospitalized.
Even though Mr. Bhuiyan somehow survived,
Mr Akhtar did not.
Did Mr. Akhtar...
ever talked about anyone who...
might have an issue with him or,
any stalker, crazy fans or something?
Well...
Akhtar hasn't been himself
for the last couple of days now.
It was evident in his face, you know?
Something was,...
...really bothering him.
We'd talk again if I think it's necessary.
[clears throat] There's something
you should know from me.
We've taken control of the...
CCTV footage.
A big tall brown guy...
is seen...
snooping around his house.
I mean that's what we gathered
from the CCTV footage, you know?
My point is...
Do you happen to recall meeting
someone like that... ever anywhere?
It might be you or Mr. Akhtar...
just in case anything rings your bell.
I think I do.
The description you just provided me...
is matching with someone...
I remember Akhtar talking to
just outside the office.
He was quite aggravated, you know?
I was.. actually on my way out..
was in a bit of a hurry.
Unfortunately...
I could not see his face clearly.
Okay, then. Bye for now.
Take rest.
I'm confused about the
tall big brown guy you mentioned.
There's nothing of that sort
in the case file.
Well, that's because I was bluffing.
Then what about the person
he saw outside the office?
Hello Azad...
Are you done taking the statement, Rashed?
Yeah.
Great. Get back to office,
let's start the interrogation.
I don't think that's necessary anymore.
The primary suspect is right here
with us in this hospital.
Who is it?
It's Rahman Bhuiyan.
Rashed, are you crazy?
Just hear me out.
Mr. Rahman had 70% of the alcohol
consumed that evening.
He's out of the woods. But
how can Mr. Akhtar die...
having only 30% of that?
Do you have an explanation?
Listen, I think Mr Akhtar was
physically not in a good shape.
That's why he couldn't resist
the poison mixed in the drink despite having 30% of it.
As Mr Rahman was
comparatively in a better shape
he was able to resist all the
poison that was mixed in drink.
I'm aware of all this.
Wanna listen to my theory?
The drink wasn't poisoned.
Are you trying to
dismiss the forensic report, Rashed?
No. I'm not dismissing anything.
Just pay attention to what I've gathered.
In fact, there was poison.
Just wasn't mixed in the booze.
It was in those ice cubes.
thanks to Mr Rahman Bhuiyan.
Mr. Rahman...
...had a lot of drink.
peg after peg...
It was nonstop.
However...
He didn't take ice
as much as Mr. Akhtar.
Because the ice cubes were poisoned.
He was well aware...
of the fatality of
taking of the ice cubes.
On the other hand, Mr Akhtar...
having no clue whatsoever...
took time finishing each peg...
with sufficient amount of ice...
that melted to poison the
whole drink completely.
The poison kept
going down his throat.
And he went on to eat
everything else to compliment that.
And succumbed to death.
Mr. Rahman is the brain behind all this.
He was well aware of the specific amount
of poison that could make a person sick
but won't necessarily kill him.
What do you think now?
Well, it's a crazy
theory, you know?
But it somehow makes sense.
The human brain can be
divided into two parts.
Things made up from imagination
originated from the brain's right side.
And the right side is responsible for
all the facts we recall from our memory.
Hence, when a person looks
at someone and speaks,
the eyeball moves to the
left while telling the truth.
And when lying, the eyeball
moves to the right.
Of course, this does not
apply to everyone.
But 50-52 percent of people
do this unknowingly.
While answering the first three of...
the five questions I asked,
Rahman Bhuiyan's eyeball ...
...moved to the left.
That means he was recalling
actual events from memory.
But during the fourth question,
the eyeball suddenly moved to the right.
And at the time of the fifth question,
I was finally confident about the theory.
Human eyeballs tend
to expose hidden lies.
...unknowingly.
Nila
My baby.
Are you okay?
Just a bad dream.
Shall we get out?
Oh! We've reached. Okay!
Come on.
Give this to me.
Are you sure you're okay?
Did you hear any heartbeats?
I'm ending things.
Can't go on like this anymore.
I couldn't find a solution
to my problems.
I feel suffocated...
... all the time!
Nobody is responsible for my situation.
Nobody!
It's only my fate. What can I do?
I had so many plans...
with this handicam.
Nothing came to fruition.
So I thought...
Let's use it to record...
...my last words.
-Hello?
-It's me speaking.
How are you doing?
What is it?
I called to congratulate you.
For becoming a grandpa.
So are we.
It's been long time coming.
So I was saying...
Why don't we patch up?
After all, she's your daughter.
How long should you hold this grudge?
Are you finished?
No. I mean...
So.. did he hang up on you?
Arrogant fuck!
That's the very reason why...
I don't feel like calling him.
Well... I told you.
It's you who couldn't help yourself.
Bloody scoundrel!
Come on. Drop it, now.
Don't forget. You're supposed to
talk to Sohel tomorrow.
I want it done before it gets too late.
We'll see.
Okay. I'm off to the kitchen.
They'll be here any moment now.
Can we slow down a bit, please?
It's the excitement.
Look who's here.
Greetings, brother.
We're big fans.
Can we have a selfie please?
Please, bro.
Can we have a selfie with you, please?
CID has succeeded in solving the
sensational Akhtar Hossain murder case.
Thanks to the intelligence
of Rashed Chowdhury,
popularly known as
Human Law Detector,
CID has been able to
catch the culprit so quickly.
It was revealed in the
investigation that, Rahman Bhuiyan...
killed his business partner Akhtar Hossain
due to a business dispute.
Rashed is a friend of mine.
Right.
I think I should give him a call.
What do you think?
You friend didn't answer your call.
Well, I had a feeling he won't.
At least, I tried.
-How about a text?
-Do what you want. Now, let's go.
Not me.
Mom, I'm full, please.
Oh Come on.
In your condition, you've to
eat as much as you can.
The curry is first class, mom!
I just can't wait to play
with the new baby.
Yes. But you've to be patient.
Now, keep calm and finish up your plate.
Come on. Why are you getting annoyed
at the poor guy?
Ma'am has been asking for you.
Come quickly.
Nila
Do you remember?
You used to dance to my playing?
Hm.
I did.
I wish you hadn't given up dancing.
I'd pick up where I left off.
Promise?
Then how about from right now?
Go.
In my condition, I don't think
it would be a good idea for me to dance.
Ok. Tell me which one.
Your favorite.
[Singing "ei raat tomar amar"
by Hemant Kumar]
Sir! Madam!
Blood! Sir! Madam!
Please, open the door!
Hey! What happened?
Blood? Where is blood?
Over there!
Sohel! Nila!
We've to break in!
The door is locked from the inside.
Get the key!
Sohel, my son! Please, open the door.
Why is nobody answering?
Hurry up!
What the hell? Oh my God!
What's going on? Sohel?
Sohel, my son!
Oh my son! Nila!
Nila...
Should you check on other's property?
I wasn't checking on her.
-Hi
-That was amazing.
I havent finished yet.
Oh you are. Let's go.
We have a date, remember?
-I'm in the middle of a rehearsal.
-I know. But we've to go. Come on!
Let's not get burnt in jealousy.
This will hurt, trust me.
Let's go.
Thanks.
What do you keep writing
in your diary all day?
You're not introvert or something.
Why do you need to maintain a diary?
Rashed.
Are you in charge of this case?
Yes, doc.
Hmm. The department is keeping you busy.
I know your plate is full already.
Still, you're taking on
this celebrity case.
When would you have time to sleep?
Well. I personally requested to
take this case, you know?
He was my...
...best friend.
Please, brief me on the autopsy report.
According to the autopsy report,
his throat was cut with a very
small sharp object.
We've found...
Anesthetics in Sohel's blood.
It means...
Before he was slaughtered,
the killer put him to sleep.
What about the murder weapon?
Very small sharp object...
It could be small surgical knife...
blade...
He probably chose to use something small
to be able to hide or get rid of it quickly.
We are currently on the ground floor of the building,
where Mr. Sohel Khan was residing.
As you can see, they have
just arrived with his body.
Outside, in front of the main gate, a crowd of
curious journalists is growing every minute.
No one is allowed
inside except close relatives.
Anyone entering has to show their NIDs.
You can see the crowd is growing.
Journalists are pouring in.
When is the funeral prayer?
[muffled voice]
The funeral prayer will take place...
...after the Esha prayer.
I always had a feeling...
...that you might not have
a future with Sohel.
I haven't been in touch with
Sohel and Nila for quite a while now.
Every now and then,
they used to call me.
But mostly I ignored those.
It's not like I did that intentionally.
That's the problem with our lives.
We never meant to do the things
we end up doing.
You know what?
This lighter doesn't go
with Beethoven at all!
Of course, it does.
I can see it very clearly.
What do you know about lighters anyway?
You've no idea how unique it is!
I guess it is.
I've never seen anything like it before.
You won't find it anywhere cz
I've got the last manufactured piece.
No shit.
Smoke?
You know, I don't.
Yes. He doesn't. He is a good guy.
But he has a friend who smokes.
So he often smells of cigarettes.
That's right.
I'm the only bad guy around here.
Give me that.
Let me feel something unique.
How about letting me keep it?
-Sorry pal. It can't change hands.
-What would you use it for?
-I'd light up candles.
-Nonsense! Keep your lighter with you, pal!
-Please, honey, try to understand.
-What is there to understand? Damn it!
-Just hear me out, love.
-Don't touch me!
-Just one moment.
-I'd slap you. Don't touch me.
-Why don't you-
-Don't touch me!
What just happened, dude?
Hey guys, do you have any idea
what that was about?
Don't you know their video
has been made viral?
-What video? Let me see.
-What video, dude?
Oh God!
Here's your phone.
I had no idea he could...
turn out to be such an asshole.
What's wrong?
Hey!
So when did you move in here?
Yesterday.
After many years.
I couldn't get around to meet you
after his funeral prayer.
I didn't know...
what to say to you...
what I could do for you, you know?
Hope you are not mad at me for that.
I know you're knee deep with your case.
There's lot at stake.
Everybody is dependent on you.
Yeah, I personally requested...
...to be in charge of this case.
I can imagine what you're going through.
Are you alright?
You know how it is.
Lubna is gone...
Sohel's gone too.
We were four. Now it's only you and I.
Sometimes I feel like the ones
who are gone are the blessed ones.
They are free from everything.
while the livings remain trapped
behind the wheels of fortune.
Sounds good.
Well done, you know?
Philosophy...
No wonder you were
a student of philosophy.
All those days of being wild...
None of us were serious
about our studies.
It can be said that,
Philosophy wasn't our thing.
So career-wise, we went separate ways.
Sohel got into music, me a cop
and you... dancing.
And Lubna...
If she had lived...
she would have gone into filmmaking.
Anyway...
If I were a professor of Philosophy,
I would have patted your back.
and said, "Wow!"
As you know...
...you will be questioned.
Still...
I want to ask you off the record.
Do you suspect anyone?
Did you really have no clue whatsoever
what happened that night?
Rashed, I feel like...
I'm living a nightmare.
I'm trying to wake up. But I can't.
Somehow I feel Im not going
to wake up anytime soon.
Somebody broke into your bedroom and
cut your husband's throat in your presence.
How could you not have a clue?
How could you keep on sleeping?
What kind of horseshit is that?
These are beyond discussion, my friend.
Just tell me why she is
not taken into custody yet.
Nila Khan...
Nila Khan, a daughter of who?
-A Police Officer?
-No. An Army Officer.
Regardless of whose daughter she is,
she can't possibly be above the law.
Why hasn't she been questioned?
Aren't you ashamed to talk nonsense
about a pregnant woman?
Nila is three months pregnant.
Why would she kill her child's father?
Viewers, we just received some
exclusive footage. Let's check it out.
No one is allowed inside
except close relatives.
Anyone entering has to show their NIDs.
You can see the crowd is growing.
Journalists are pouring in.
So Ms... What do you think now?
A wife does not even look at
her husband's body.
She seems completely unfazed, see?
Greetings, Mr. DIG.
I'm okay. Thank you.
I can see the media has already
started passing judgments.
I'm sure you know that...
...my daughter is innocent.
She must not be dragged into this mess.
You know, how these media people are...
They don't think twice before
pointing finger at a respected citizen.
I am not convinced by the Officer
in charge of this case either.
I already told you that...
Sohel was not a good human being.
Perhaps he dug his own grave.
Who knows?
Sohel Khan was one of our finest assets.
He was a superstar.
He was unique in everything, from
his singing style to even his lighter.
His premature departure is
an irreparable loss for our country.
The police should grab that culprit Nila...
by her hair and drag her across
the concrete without showing any mercy.
so that a wife would think
a hundred times before..
..killing her innocent husband
in the future.
-Mind your language!
-Ms. There is a killer on the loose-
Babe, have you heard...
...Maruf switched College?
Did I ask you about him?
I told you, didn't I?
I don't want to hear about Maruf.
Okay fine. Don't be upset.
-Nila, Hey!
-Sir
As you know, the inter-college
cultural program is coming up.
One of the most exciting segments is
a duet of dance and musical instruments.
That means someone will play something
while the other person will dance to it.
I'm sure you guys know each other.
He is one of the finest we have.
I want you two to represent
our College as a team.
Nila...
No is not an option.
All the best.
If you have a problem
teaming up with me...
I can talk him out of it.
Don't worry. I can handle him.
Just let me know the rehearsal time.
I'll be there.
Today, Lubna didn't show up.
She fell sick again.
After her dad was hanged
on false charges,
she started showing symptoms
of mental health issues.
Back then, Lubna was in the ninth grade.
This morning, I went to visit her.
Whenever I see her struggling,
I want to let her know
how much I love her.
But as she is out of it,
I'm back in my shell.
Maybe I will never be able to...
...express my true feelings towards her.
We investigated the crime scene
and unable to find a murder weapon.
We also tested all the sharp objects
from home without any positive results.
And from the CCTV footage,
we've observed that..
there wasn't any unauthorized entry
that night.
However, from 12:15AM to 12:30AM
CCTV was turned off.
From what we gathered
from the caretakers,
is that it was due a power surge.
There wasn't any trace of
breaking and entering in their bedroom.
We did find some traces of scuffling,
but...
it was mostly compromised
by the family members.
So it won't stand in court.
Had we found the murder weapon,
we could have gotten a lead.
So who do we consider...
...as our prime suspect?
Sir, for the time being, our curiosity
lies in Sohel's better half Nila.
Why Nila?
Why?
Is this because the media
already passed their judgment on her?
It's not like that. It's just that
her husband died in the same room
...she was in.
Yet, she didn't notice anything.
By the way, who had the keys?
Sir, one of the keys
was with Nila Khan and
two other spare ones
were left with the dad.
-But there is a problem.
-What problem?
Sir, the problem is Mr. Amzad
handed me only one of the spare keys.
The other one is lost, he says.
Unwrap it for me, please.
Ma'am, can I have a minute?
What?
We actually wanted to interview--
Didn't I make myself clear about
my reluctance to talk to you?
Hey you! Hey!
Stop filming! Stop filming me!
Bloody scoundrel!
You want to film me? Huh?
Fuck!
So, how long have you been in this slum?
-It's been ten years.
-You own this place, don't you?
Then why haven't you filed a report against
those who's been trying to throw you out?
We did. But they don't wanna listen.
I have no place to go, brother. Mercy!
We told you to leave and you didn't.
Keep your damn papers.
-Hey! Let go of him!
-Shut the f up! Leave!
Who the hell are you?
Stop filming. Get out of here!
-Let go of him.
-Not another word or we'd see you too.
-Take the f away.
-Mercy brother! Mercy!
-Shut the f up. I warn you.
Where are you taking him?
Let him go.
Please continue. I better...
Please stay. I don't mind.
-I interrupted you.
-Not at all. I was just practicing, you know?
You'd make it big
oneday. I can sense that.
Please, stop it now.
I just play for fun.
But you...
I'm sure you're gonna
do great in dancing.
I'm not kidding!
-Serious! -I know you're just saying
it for the sake of...
...giving something back to me.
-Right?
-Of course, not.
No. I'm bloody serious. From what
I've seen of you
Be it classical... western...
contemporary...
...you're just perfect in everything.
Not quite everything yet though...
Like I wanted get into Ballet as well...
It just didn't happen yet.
As far as I know, there is a good book
on Ballet dancing, isn't it?
What is the name of that book?
"Inside the land of Ballet"
I have been trying to get hold of
that book for a while,
but I guess it's not available locally.
I'm not even sure if I'd
get it from abroad either.
Okay, then.
I better go for now.
Hey! It's completely okay.
You can stay.
"Inside the land of Ballet"
Thankfully, I brought the last
local copy of this book.
I always had a knack for
collecting books on performing art.
Never thought it could become so useful.
Hopefully, I'd get to see you
do Ballet very soon.
The incident at the slum
traumatized Lubna.
She tried to take her own life.
Thankfully, her mom rescued her on time.
Lubna didn't share her intention
with anyone.
Not even with me.
This was her third suicide attempt.
I'm really worried for her.
Because she hasn't attempted
anything of that sort in last two years.
I began to think she was recovering.
But... No.
She gets triggered by
lies, injustice and deceit.
These are beyond her tolerance level.
So once again she is depressed.
Because she is yet to recover from
her dad's unfair demise.
I have to ensure her peace of mind.
Anyhow.
Is this the same woman who became
a widow not more than a month back?
As you can see,
how easily she was devouring that
ice cream.
Like she never felt a loss.
A criminal who's supposed to be
in jail is out into the open...
...enjoying the time of her life.
None of this would have been possible,
without Rashed Chowdhury's favoritism.
Viewers, for your information,
Rashed Chowdhury and Nila Khan
go way back.
Not only they were in the same college
they are also very good friends.
Are we sure we can leave it
at friendship only?
If you ask me, it's high time we start
calling this relation something else.
Aren't you ashamed of talking dirty
about a respected woman and
police member of society?
Ashamed? Why would I be ashamed of
speaking the truth?
I will fuck your "Moumachi Portal"!
Bunch of Assholes!
Another parcel?
This is the sixth parcel
in last six months, isn't it?
Sir, I think it's time you should take
this matter seriously.
What kind of fan continuously
sends books hiding their identity?
What harm can happen to them
if they come out of the shell?
Only he knows. How could we ever know?
But one thing I know for sure is that
you're having a good time.
You're right.
These are fine novels.
-Specially in the Mystery-Thriller genre.
-Really?
I'm sure you'd like'em too.
At least a good time-pass.
Well, I used to read a lot of novels,
you know?
But after joining the Force...
I'm more interested in the real life
crimes and criminals, you know?
I lost my taste in fiction.
I think you should be more careful.
Let's say,
these books are sent by someone
who wants to harm you.
To do that,
he has poisoned all the pages.
In that case...
every time you turn a page
with your spit, you're getting poisoned.
This way, the final chapter of the book,
can become the final moment
of your life, sir.
Full and final.
But the truth is, I don't read them.
I don't turn the pages either.
It's you who read them.
It's natural for the suspects to
feel nervous during investigations.
So to make them feel a little relaxed,
we've kept the exit within
their eye-sight.
It'll subconsciously give them a
positive vibe about...
...leaving the place anytime they want.
It'll keep them calm.
They'd be able to respond better.
Thus, when a question aggravates and
scares them or make them go into their shell...
I'd be able to notice the change
in their body language better.
Even if the human mind or face,
...is able to conceal the truth,
their body language reveals everything.
Uncle, I hope you don't mind me saying
that we're here to interrogate you.
I know I could do
that at your place.
As you know, it's a Government job.
I'm bound by the rules and regulations.
It's okay, son.
I don't mind.
You get on with it, please.
All I want...
is for you to...
...identify my son's killer
as soon as possible.
Uncle...
I'm like a son to you.
Never think of me otherwise.
How is your back these days?
Much better than before.
Your physiotherapy suggestion worked.
I really miss your 'Nehari' (an Indian dish).
Just make time and come by.
I'd cook for you.
It's been ages since you last came.
As far as I know, you used to take care
of Sohel's financial affairs, didn't you?
Yes.
What about the exchanges?
Did Sohel help you out financially?
No. No.
He didn't need to.
Whenever I needed money,
I used to take it out from his account.
Sohel gave me access to all of them.
So, uncle...
Let's get it out of the way.
According to the investigation,
we gathered that...
the killer...
...is someone from the inside.
What are you saying, son?
Who do you think it might be?
It can't either be my wife or my son.
But...
Nila, my daughter-in-law
has been acting...
...strange of late.
Sohel used to love her a lot, you know?
But after his death, Nila's demeanor...
feels even stranger to me.
So you think Nila is behind it?
I don't know.
I don't want to think of her that way.
But at this moment,
I can't point the finger
at anyone else, you know?
So what kind of...
...strange demeanor
you're talking about?
Everything about her
feels strange to me.
How can a wife sleep next to...
...her husband's corpse?
After Sohel's death,
we tried to be there for her.
We even gave her moral support
when everyone was throwing dirt at her.
But the very next day to the funeral,
she moved out.
She didn't even care to tell us.
Her dad is also a strange species.
All these years,
he has been avoiding us.
But he came over right away,
having heard of our son's death.
Okay, Aunty.
How was your relationship with Sohel?
I am his step-mother.
But...
I never made him feel any negligence
that could hurt him.
I even...
adored him more than
my own son, Murtoza.
You can verify it through Sohel's dad.
Why are you trembling?
It's just an interrogation.
Nothing to be scared of.
Okay...
The night Sohel died...
The food that was...
The food that he took...
I mean... who did that cooking?
Son...
In my family,
I am the only one who cooks.
Our pathology report states that
there were...
...anesthetics found...
...inside his body.
Our guess is that...
it was mixed in his dinner.
How did Murtoza and Sohel get along
with each other?
They...
They got along really well.
[stammering] Murtoza used to like him a lot.
I didn't like him at all.
We were always at each other's throats.
In fact, we were not on talking terms
throughout the last year.
So what is your take?
Who might have murdered Sohel?
Batman.
I think...
Batman murdered him.
Batman?
Why Batman?
Why not Superman or Spiderman?
Very funny.
If I think it was Batman...
then obviously I won't name Superman,
would I?
Where is the key?
I don't have a key to that room.
I never mentioned about the room, did I?
All I asked about was the key.
Why did you bring the room into it?
The key is with Murtoza.
I can say with
one hundred percent assurance.
How can I be so sure?
Rashed, he is a psychopath.
He stalks me all the time.
I told Sohel about him. He tried to
teach him some manners. But it didn't work.
There are times
I can't find my own things.
What kind of things?
My private things.
Undergarments.
Everybody knows about it, don't they?
Was he tried to be treated?
He was away for quite some time.
Then one day, his mom thought
he was cured, so she brought him back.
Do you think it's him who did it?
I think he is capable of anything.
How was your relationship with Sohel
in his final days?
What... [stammering] do you think?
Everything was normal.
I mean it was fine.
I mean there was no issue
between you two?
What issue?
Rashed, I don't know
what you're getting at.
Nila
Our eyes are the window to our soul.
When a normal person speaks normally,
he blinks.
The rate at he blinks is...
8 times per minute.
But when that normal person
starts acting abnormally
and tries to hide something,
...his blinking rate changes.
When our conversation began,
you were fine.
There was no abnormality
in your answering.
Your blinking rate was also normal.
As we started talking about Sohel
that rate has changed abruptly.
Nila
What are you trying to hide?
Lie?
Do you know what lying actually is?
When a truth is badly expressed
it becomes a lie.
A lie is just a part of the truth.
They are not
entirely different.
As you know,
we all have something in the past.
We all have secrets.
Don't we, Rashed?
People in that family are kinda weird.
I feel like every one of them
has something dark hidden inside.
Do you suspect anyone?
I do.
Murtoza.
I don't think he's a good person.
Why is that?
He...
...spends all day in his PC
...watching dirty things.
I can't say more about it.
He also does something involving Nila.
Nasty stuff.
I'm terrified by him. So I stay away.
Okay.
What about his mom and dad?
What is your take
on their relationship with Sohel?
With Sohel,
I've always seen them fighting
over money.
They used to keep pressing him for money
and he refused.
Sir, how would you summarize
the interrogation?
To be honest...
I didn't expect...
all of them to...
...lie like that.
Apart from the maid.
Only she...
...is telling the truth.
Whatever she was saying was true.
Only the maid...
is telling the truth.
Everyone else was lying.
Liars speak less.
They have minimum hand movements.
They blinks a lot.
Their lips don't have gaps.
That's the reason why
when they smile... it looks forced.
Cz' they try to smile with lips.
But their eyes tell me
whole another story.
And when an honest person smiles...
his whole face smiles.
Like...
the famous Mona Lisa smile.
What is our next plan of action, sir?
Plan of action?
Let's see. I was thinking of doing...
The Pinocchio Test.
This Pinocchio Test will
confirm my theory of them lying.
I have no idea about this test.
If you could kindly explain?
No idea?
I mean I've never tried it
under anyone's supervision, you know?
But you heard about Pinocchio,
didn't you? -Yes, sir.
Pinocchio is punished for each lie
he tells by undergoing
further growth of his nose.
And when a human being tells a lie,
the outer portion of his nose...
and eye...
...heat up. Suddenly...
the temperature rises.
However, they don't feel that heat.
It's invisible to the naked eye.
It can't be felt on bare hands.
It can only be detected through
a special thermal camera.
But can't it done through lie detectors?
I'm not quite sure how effective...
...lie detectors are.
I mean it doesn't feel reliable to me.
Suspects are wired way before
their interrogation starts.
They often get nervous.
Even before the questioning.
My strategy is...
to keep a suspect calm and completely
relaxed before the interrogation starts.
When we'd do this Pinocchio Test,
the suspect won't have a clue...
of a camera...
recording everything about him far away.
Understood.
Sir, check this out.
Popular musician Sohel
Khan's personal lawyer
has announced his will
at a press conference today.
Sohel bequeathed all his property
and money to his wife Nila.
The will states that as soon as Sohel
dies, all his property will go to Nila.
It's a conspiracy of another level, bro.
The wife is the murderer.
She should be hung till death.
Sohel Khan is an emotion to all of us.
We simply can't accept his death.
We do not understand why Nila is not arrested
even after becoming a prime suspect.
If these Nilas are not punished, the decapitated bodies
of husbands will be found in their bedrooms.
Exactly, bro.
We want punishment for Nila.
We love Sohel Khan.
We want justice for Sohel Khan.
All we demand is justice for Sohel Khan
and Punishment for Nila.
So, what do you think now, Ma'am?
Everyone is protesting.
Do you think all of them are fools?
Because you guys instigated it.
That's what you do, right?
You poisoned their minds.
They're simply speaking
what you put in their minds.
-We poison their minds, right? Okay.
Let me give you
a juice little information, Ma'am.
I want you to plan a special episode
for your show.
It will be on me.
Uncle, how're you doing?
-Sir
-Ikram, later. I'll let you know.
What's up?
You just got rid of your subordinate,
Cz' you...
...are scarred that he might know
your secrets, am I right?
Uncle, I don't have any secret.
And nothing scares me.
You don't say!
I see.
You're a cop.
You've got power.
So why have you brought me here?
Am I also in your suspects' list?
Uncle, you're well aware that...
No one can be removed from the list
...before the culprit is identified.
I won't blame you for taking me
in as a suspect.
Because...
I've thought about killing Sohel..
...many times in the past.
There is a film I am a big fan of.
The Dangerous Game.
It was released in 1934.
I've watched that film many times.
It's based on...
..an island.
A count lives in that island.
His name is...
Count Zaroff.
Whenever a yacht...
...is stuck in that island
he brings out his gun and go after it.
That's when the game begins.
He starts killing everyone who're
stuck in that island from the yacht.
The passengers of the yacht
get into the forest to survive.
And that's when...
the game gets even more interesting,
more thrilling, more exciting!
The hunters hunt the animals...
...and Count Zaroff
...hunts the human.
While watching it...
I think of myself as...
...Count Zaroff.
In my imaginary forest...
there is only one prey.
That's Sohel.
Nice story.
But there is a huge gap
between reality and imagination.
Uncle...
Now tell me for real.
whether you're involved in
Sohel's murder or not.
You won't be able to
detect my lies, you know?
I'm a trained liar.
You're gonna use your mouth
for lying, uncle.
That's because you can control
what you're gonna speak.
What you can't control is
how your face is gonna react.
That's why regardless of...
how well trained you are in lying,
a good observer can always detect you.
I almost forgot...
that you are...
...a human lie detector.
May I have one?
Cigar.
6...6...6...
That's the devil's number.
You're saying you had
no idea about Sohel's will?
No.
I didn't.
We never had a clue that...
...he could do something like that.
Whatever he did... he did.
I don't hold anything against my son.
May he rest in peace.
They're lying.
Of course, they knew.
Only Nila wasn't aware of that.
They used to argue a lot over
the property papers.
11.11.12
You're still holding on to this locket.
Ever since Lubna made me wear it,
I never took it off.
-Hey Guys! From today...
-It's my favorite time of the day.
You guys are officially a couple
from today, aren't you?
So we've got a gift for you...
on your anniversary.
-Gift?
-Take it.
What is it?
Come on. Let us see.
They are identical.
That's right.
This one is for Nila.
Let me put it on you.
Both are the same.
No need to get upset.
Have you seen?
It has the date engraved in it.
Here's yours.
-They are identical. Wow!
-That's right.
-Thanks a lot, Lubna. They're gorgeous.
-Thank you. Thank you.
Yeah. I hope you remember the date.
-It's engraved.
-11.11.12
Do you remember ours?
-Got you. You forgot.
-Of course, not.
Then, tell me.
-I know you forgot. Got you. Got you.
-Oh! Come on. I do remember.
-It's 8.7.
-7.7...
-...2009
-That's right.
-Anyway, I've got something for you too.
-A gift for me?
You didn't tell me...
Oh! That's just your Hard Drive.
Yeah. You wanted to borrow it.
The Pinocchio Test turned out
to support my theory.
Except for Meenu,
everyone else was lying.
But it's not like they're lying because
of their involvement in the murder.
Each of them might have
different motives for lying.
All I have to do is sort out the lie
directly linked to the murder.
It's difficult. Not impossible.
If you were not carrying Sohel's child,
I would have married you off already.
Forget it, dad.
It's not right to have
a grudge against the deceased.
You're still..
...fetishizing over making me
marry someone else.
Mind your manners.
What did you achieve by marrying
of your own will?
Have you managed to hold it together?
Why are you getting so aggravated?
I haven't said anything to
aggravate you.
You were just a child
when your mom died.
I treated you with great care.
I never thought you'd hurt me that much.
Of course...
it's too early for you to understand.
When you'll be hurt by your own child...
you'd know...
what it feels to be hurt
by your own blood.
All my life...
I lived as an honorable man.
Money is nothing...
...compared to honor.
On that night...
you chose to go against my will.
And all the well-earned respect
that I gained...
were burnt to ashes...
... just like that.
I'm ending things.
Can't continue this life anymore.
I couldn't find a solution
to my problems.
I feel suffocated...
...all the time.
Nobody is responsible for my situation.
Nobody!
Do you any way behind
your husband's death?
Don't be ridiculous! Shall we?
Even if I am somehow behind his death,
I'd definitely not confess it
on live telecast, would I?
Well, our viewers and
the fans of Sohel Khan believe that...
you murdered Sohel Khan
to inherit his property.
Not only that. They think...
you have a special relationship with
the CID officer Rashed Chowdhury
that kept you from getting arrested
despite being the prime suspect.
That's it?
What are the other fan theories
Come on. I'd really wanna know.
They're also saying that the father of
the child you're carrying isn't Sohel Khan.
-Let me tell you why I came here.
-Sure.
I'm not here to do talk show.
I'd like to show something else.
Umm.. Of course.
We've got a hot show right here
ready for...
...any kind of ..exclusive footage.
And thousands of viewers are
watching it live and...
waiting eagerly for it!
So if you want to say something
to them...
there's the camera. Go for it.
No. I better...
...show it.
Sure thing.
-You really wanna know who did it, huh?
-What the hell, please stop it!
-Stop recording. Stop recording.
-Don't you dare stop it. Come here, you!
Listen to me carefully.
You've to watch your back.
Your documentary is about...
..very high profile people.
You're going to expose their shit.
They're not good people.
Yes sir.
I'll be careful.
Rashed, you know what I think?
I think everyone of us...
...should stand and protest
from wherever we are.
I'm doing whatever I can.
Someday, maybe I will too.
Of course you would.
You're my supercop.
Get in. Get in.
The ride is here.
There it is.
They're never on time.
Today they are it seems.
That means you're still sad.
If you go on like this,
I won't be able to go.
Even better.
Hey! Listen.
I'm not going.
You guys carry on.
Oh I was kidding. You can go.
I'm not sad anymore.
Listen, brother.
Get your bags. He is going.
Go.
But don't stay
more than seven days, please.
I will miss you.
Stop it. They're watching.
I'm going to bite your neck off.
I'd do the same too.
Viewers, what we've been saying
on this talk show,
...for the last two and a half months
has finally come true.
Unfaithful, traitor and murderer -
these three adjectives are now
firmly attached to Mrs. Nila Khan.
Now, it's pretty much over
for Nila Khan.
To see how one roll of the dice
changed the whole game,
pay attention to this video.
A YouTube channel called Beautiful
Motherland has recently released
a vlog about the natural beauty
and Eco resort of Srimangal.
This vlog coincidentally caught...
Nila Khan, the wife of late famous
musician Sohel Khan,
walking around intimately
with another man.
As soon as Nila caught the eye
of the viewers in the vlog,
there was a stir on the internet.
Sohel Khan's fans have already made
the video viral by trimming off...
the part with Nila and
uploading it separately.
I think this time,
Mr. Human Lie Detector...
might apprehend Mrs. Nila Khan,
what do you think?
I told you. I've telling this from
the very beginning, you know?
She surely can't get out of this.
Greetings, brother.
Greetings.
I'm still a freshman.
I needed some career advice.
If you don't mind,
can I take a seat?
Actually I'm in the middle of
a lot of things right now and...
I can't recall seeing you
in the campus before.
That's because I'm always occupied
with books and studies, you know?
As you're one of the toppers
in the first two years in our department
you're like an inspiration.
Still if I have disturbed you,
I can leave.
No. It's fine. You can sit.
I'm here for another fifteen minutes.
Tell me.
How can I be of any help?
I am Bithi.
If you don't mind,
we can have coffee while we're at it.
-Coffee?
-I really feel like one, please.
I think it's already too late. Not sure
if they've got Coffee now. Let me check.
Oh Come on. I'm a junior.
Let me get it for us.
Ok. Great.
And listen.
If you get it...
don't bother about the bills.
Ask them to put it on my tab.
Wow. You're quick.
Thank you.
Now tell me how I can help you.
You can help me with my studies, you know?
I'm getting paranoid by all these pressure.
Main thing is... the focus.
You have to be focused.
No distraction whatsoever.
So...
first I need to know
how focused you are.
Carry on.
That's it. You know...
I don't know how...
I feel a little...
...dizzy..
I think I better...
-What are you doing?
-It's nothing.
Rashed.
Are you sure about this?
I mean...
If Nila ever finds out...
How would she know?
I just found you...
...a way in.
It's a trick.
I mean... it may work
or it may not.
If it works, great.
Haven't you heard?
Shakespeare said.. everything is fair in
...love.. and only love!
What?
Don't worry, dude!
Nila Khan, the prime suspect of the
Sohel Khan murder case was undoubtedly
involved in an extramarital affair.
Perhaps that's the reason why,
Sohel Khan had to be murdered.
Rashed, I didn't kill anyone.
Dad, I didn't do it.
Trust me, dad. I didn't do it.
I didn't do anything.
For the sake of my child,
trust me I didn't do it.
I didn't do it, Dad.
Rashed, what the---
For the sake of my child,
trust me I didn't do it.
I told you, I did not.
Let go of me.
Dad, ...Dad!
My name is Majnu.
I did time for 25 years and
it's been two years since I'm out.
It was me who broke into
that house to steal.
At 12:15AM, when the CCTV
wasn't functioning,
I was able to get inside and
tried to steal.
Before the CCTV was on, I got out.
But while stealing, Sohel saw me.
Therefore...
I had to kill him.
I got spooked, and hence, left the
house without touching anything else.
Nice.
Very nice.
So this statement is yours?
Yes sir. It's mine.
I hope you know...
you can get hanged for this.
I do.
As I murdered someone
I'm bound to get hanged.
Okay.
Take him away.
Are you convinced by this fraud, sir?
No. Ikram.
I didn't believe a word he wrote.
However, he has confessed to the crime.
We have to take him into custody.
Sir, I have information.
Karim Sheikh is sending
her daughter to US permanently.
Within seven days,
Nila will be out of all this.
And here, someone confessed to the crime.
The truth is we can't do much right now.
-But sir, we still will be able to--
-You can go now.
What the hell, Sohel?
Speak up.
How could you scandalize
a decent guy like Maruf?
Nila and Maruf love each other so much!
How could you break their relation?
How could you do this?
No!
I'm not gonna stand here
and wait to see an injustice grow.
I'm going to call Nila
and tell her everything.
-Lubna!
-You will see.
Lubna, Rashed did all these.
Rashed. - What?
Rashed was behind all these.
I mean...
Rashed was the master-planned it all.
I simply followed his instructions.
I was too scarred to tell you.
Trust me I didn't want any of these.
I begged Rashed not
to go through with this.
I honestly didn't want to
break their relationship.
Lubna, I really love her, Lubna.
Trust me, I really do.
She loves me too.
Lubna, I really don't want her to...
...I don't want her to leave me.
Trust me I told Rashed many times
not to do that.
Maruf and Nila were good together.
There was no need to destroy that!
I...
But Rashed didn't listen to me.
I knew right there and then...
it would come back to bite us.
I struggle to face ...
...Nila these days, you know?
Lubna, Lubna...
Please, don't tell her anything.
Just listen to me. Keep it down.
Hello, Rashed.
Are you the one behind
Nila and Maruf's break-up?
Huh?
Answer me!
I've just learnt everything from Sohel.
What?
[INAUDIBLE]
I...
Rashed, I do believe you.
I thought you're going to...
...stand against crimes oneday.
Today, you're a criminal.
Lubna
Trust me I tried to warn Rashed...
...about the consequences
in case it gets out.
The precious friendship that we have
can be on the edge of destruction.
Now, if Nila finds out...
...about us,
everything will be over.
-Sohel, just leave me alone.
-Promise me, you won't tell her.
-I said, leave me alone. Get lost.
-Ok. But you've to promise me
You aren't gonna tell Nila ever!
-Are you leaving or not?
-See if Nila finds out...
-Get the hell out of here!
-Tell me you're going to keep quiet.
Rashed did it all.
I'm not involved in this, okay?
If you tell her everything,
I will be finished.
-Just get lost.
-Please, don't tell her anything.
Lubna, Listen, Lubna.
Please, don't tell her anything.
-Just get the hell out of here.
-Don't tell her, Lubna.
Today, you're a criminal.
This was her last word for me.
She took her own life out of
sheer disappointment on me.
I couldn't stop it.
When Lubna hung up on me, I immediately
called her mom to rush to the house.
But despite her efforts,
it was too late.
Only if Sohel had the guts to
stay with Lubna that day.
probably Lubna couldn't have done it.
Nevertheless, I can't put the
blame on Sohel.
That would be silly.
Actually the blame was on me.
To help a friend, I committed a crime
without thinking about its consequences.
That ended up costing me my love.
If only I had known that...
something like that would happen,
I would never have left her there alone.
Buddy.
You're not going to tell Nila, are you?
What?
That it was us behind that thing.
That day, in that graveyard,
I lost many of my loved ones at once.
I lost Lubna.
Her mom didn't try to
get in touch with me ever since.
Nila, Sohel...
who were the reason why
I committed that crime...
I couldn't make myself stay close
to them anymore.
So I moved on.
May I go in for...
Not now.
He had a severe concussion.
He is in a coma.
-Is he?
-Yes.
Have you tried to contact his family?
Have you tried to contact his family?
Yes. His mom is on the way.
Good.
Rashed sir had an accident last night.
He is in ICU.
I heard about Rashed.
I have a flight to catch.
Otherwise, I'd have visited him.
I'm in bit of a hurry.
Now what?
Stay well.
Stay safe.
Wish you all the best.
Dad!
What the hell is your problem?
It was hidden in plain sight
this whole time!
Rashed sir is in a coma.
He's still unconscious.
Mr Majnu was actually
brought by Karim Sheikh.
He was offered money to
take the blame off Nila.
Even if he had died, his family
would never have to worry about money.
Sohel's blood and Nila's fingerprint
were both found in that piece of blade.
So it was proved beyond doubt that
Nila is guilty of murder.
Her sentence will be carried out
once she gives birth.
She kept refusing to admit that
she did the murder.
But it didn't work.
Further interrogation revealed that
the child's father was Maruf.
So Maruf was held guilty
of being an accomplice.
As Maruf was away,
his case will remain pending.
I started getting applause from
everywhere for solving the case.
Everything was going well.
But I was missing Rashed sir.
Somewhere, something didn't feel right.
That locket idea came from a novel
named An Unusual Murder.
The criminal hid the murder weapon
there as well.
So Nila hid it in her locket.
Why would she do that?
It's such a tiny thing.
She could easily get rid of it,
couldn't she?
There is a proverb.
Too much cunning ends up with a noose.
It gotta be changed.
Now it's supposed to be-
Too much cunning ends up with a locket.
Nila tried to be too clever.
So she hid the blade in her locket.
But her luck betrayed her.
The blade still had her fingerprint
and Sohel's blood.
Where did you get the clue
about the locket?
From one of those novels,
you got from your fan.
It's all a coincidence, after all.
I just got lucky.
But you know what's funny?
I haven't been getting any book
from that fan in the last four months.
And I...
checked out that...
Beautiful Motherland, YouTube channel.
The last video uploaded
in that channel was...
the video on Nila.
There hasn't been any new upload
after that.
What are you getting at, sir?
What I am getting at is a theory.
What if somebody wants to frame Nila?
This whole time...
that person was just...
spoon-feeding us the clues.
Did I do something wrong?
If you and Sohel didn't do that to me
my life would have been different today.
It still doesn't make sense to me,
you know Rashed?
You didn't tell me the truth
even after Lubna died.
Your loyalty towards
your friend is exemplary.
You know what I think now?
I think Sohel was more important
to you than Lubna.
Anyway...
The whole country wanted
my head on a pike.
I'm slowly getting there.
Denying the truth
doesn't change the fact.
If this is the truth...
..they're after...
Then so be it.
Nila...
Did you murder Sohel for real?
Well, you're a human lie-detector.
Don't you know the answer?
You're supposed to know the answer.
Your thing with Maruf...
Tell me from the beginning.
Don't leave out anything.
I got to know about it
one and half years back.
Bithi called me up and
asked to meet her.
She was crying a river.
Her words gave me an impression
that she was dying.
Bithi confessed everything to me
and asked for forgiveness.
You made her an financial offer
she couldn't refuse.
Then you used her to create rifts
between Maruf and me.
Maruf was completely innocent that day.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
So all this time, I lived
a conjugal life based on a lie.
So I tracked Maruf down and
we got in touch.
He often had to be away for business.
He couldn't get over me.
He didn't get married.
It was very natural for me by then
to start hating Sohel.
And to rekindle my relationship
with Maruf.
Gradually we became intimate again.
Sohel was infertile.
He was taking medication.
So when I got pregnant,
I convinced Sohel that he was the father.
Sohel used to trust me wholeheartedly.
He didn't think twice.
He was convinced that
he was the father of Maruf's child.
Meanwhile, Maruf and I decided that...
we would move abroad
after I gave birth to our child.
That's why I wanted to tell Sohel everything
when my pregnancy was confirmed.
But Maruf told me that...
it would take a couple of years more
to process everything...
...financially and legally.
However, if Sohel did something rash
by then and harmed the child,
...none of us...
...would be able to stand it.
Welcome to the special webinar organized
by Bangladesh CID in association with Scotland Yard.
Our topic today is
Selective Attention or Blind Spot.
We'd start with participating
in an experiment.
Pay attention to the screen.
On the screen, we see four people
in white dresses and four in black.
White and black, both teams
have one basketball each.
Now, these two teams will play
each other for 30 seconds and...
You've to count how many times the white
team has passed the ball between them.
OK, then let's start.
How many passes did you count?
If your answer is 15,
then correct.
But who saw the giant "black figure" that went
through the middle of the players during the game?
This "Black Gorilla" is basically our blind spot.
We were all so busy counting the passes,
...that a giant gorilla passed
in front of our eyes,
but we didn't see it.
Detectives, while solving cases,
occasionally fall prey to blind spots.
Suspect or evidence is right in front
of their eyes. But they do not see it.
Actually, the things we focus on,
...things we want to see,
...our eyes show us precisely that.
Hence blind spots are very dangerous.
I'm ending things.
I can't go on like this anymore.
Finally, I've cracked the Black Gorilla
of Sohel's murder case.
Thanks to Lubna's suicide clip,
The gorilla was always
right in front of me.
But I wasn't able to spot it.
That suicide clip was constantly
pointing me towards that blind spot.
But I never paid attention to that.
Because the Black Gorilla or the killer...
...has always been in my blind spot.
To make this theory stand in court,
I need some evidence immediately.
Nila and Sohel's lockets were identical,
but there was a subtle difference.
Nila's locket had flowers carved
on its back.
But the locket where the blade was found
had no flower carving.
I have to go to Srimangal.
I must find out the identity
of the vlogger
who exposed the scandalous
video of Nila and Maruf.
If I am able to track him down,
I'll be able to cage
the elusive black gorilla.
I got in touch with the resort,
where Nila and Maruf checked in.
and managed to collect the vlogger's
handwriting from their registry.
He used a fake ID. Still I was confident
of using that handwriting to good effect.
Cz' I will cross-match it with
the handwriting of my anonymous fan,
..collected from the
book parcel service.
Who is the owner of this lighter?
Me. I'm the owner.
Sir, actually...
...there was a guy here
who made videos.
While leaving, he mistakenly
left this lighter.
It looked so unique,
that ... I...
...was immediately fond of it
cleaning up his room.
So I kept it.
He did come back and asked for it.
But I refused to give it back to him.
It was a mistake, sir.
Finally, the Black Gorilla is revealed.
Despite repeatedly going through
Lubna's suicide clip,
it never occurred to me that
the other death could also be a suicide.
The Black Gorilla in Sohel's murder case
is actually Sohel's suicide.
I never suspected my friend.
Because he...
...was always in my...
...blind spot.
Hello Ikram.
Sir, I tried to reach you many times.
But you didn't answer.
I am in Srimangal.
Listen.
That fan of mine,
who sends me books,
via book parcel service.
Take out his handwriting.
Send it to me.
And listen. I gathered some evidence
in Srimangal,
...that might just prevent
Nila's execution.
But sir, they've decided to carry out
Nila's execution right on this night.
As soon as I was informed,
I tried your phone.
But you didn't receive.
They're doing it tonight?
Wasn't it supposed to be a week later?
Due to public pressure,
they had to take evasive action.
The execution will be effective
at eleven o'clock tonight.
I'm trying to set up a special court
to prevent the death sentence.
Sohel eventually learnt about
Nila's extramarital with Maruf.
And realized Nila was selling him
Maruf's child as his...
...the whole time.
He was crazy about Nila.
So her betrayal literally tore him apart
from the inside.
Sohel was certain about one thing.
That he lost Nila forever.
She would never be able
to love him back.
But without Nila, Sohel ceases to exist.
Nila was everything to him.
So he had come up with
such a self-destructive plan.
Sohel will leave this world the day
Nila's child enters this world.
Perhaps that's what he thought of.
He was working on his own murder
for a long time.
As a part of that plan,
He was trying to spoon-feed me clues
as one of my fans through those books.
He also arranged for me
to receive the last book
...after he died.
Sohel thought I was still into books
like I was in College.
Sohel knew very well that
if he was to be murdered,
I'd definitely be involved
in his case somehow.
He stalked Nila and Maruf to Srimangal
and captured that video himself...
...in disguise.
To make his point, he went on
to capture more footage.
Then with some YouTube marketing,
he managed to pile up
a good amount of subscribers,
on Beautiful Motherland,
his YouTube channel.
Before his death, he implemented
the schedule post option
to publish the viral video.
Not only that, he made sure that
Nila became the prime suspect.
That's why he wrote off all his property
in Nila's name.
Sohel could simply murder Nila
as an act of revenge if he wished.
But to him,
that would have been mercy on Nila.
He made sure she was hated by all.
He made sure she suffered giving birth
but failed to even get a chance
to caress her child.
As a final nail in the coffin,
he made sure she got hanged
in utter shame.
A few days before his murder,
Sohel may have...
anesthetized the sleeping Nila.
And took his fingerprints
on one half of the blade.
He later used his own blood on the
same blade to make a fake murder weapon.
Then he inserted that carefully
inside his locket.
On the night of the murder, he again
put her to sleep with anesthetics.
Then he simply exchanged
Nila's locket with his own.
With another half blade,
Sohel went to the washroom,
where he himself had taken
some anesthetics as well.
He cleaned the handkerchief well and
wiped off all the remaining chloroform.
Then he dried it with a hairdryer
and put it on the shelf.
He tore the label off the chloroform
bottle and threw it out the window.
Then it was time for him to slit
his own throat inside that washroom.
Sohel was aware.
He knew the exact area where he
needed to slit for him to bleed out.
Afterwards, he slipped the
blade piece through the sinkhole.
That's how he got rid of
the murder weapon forever.
He somehow managed to get his body
out of the bathroom and into the room.
He was struggling.
But I guess the idea of revenge...
...was working as a painkiller
at that moment.
Sohel's body then slowly
fell to the ground.
Before that happened, perhaps he
was looking at Nila for the last time.
After all, he loved Nila
with everything he had.
But that love had already...
... become deadly and sickening.
Something... Sohel didn't realize.
I ran Sohel's handwriting with the handwriting
of that fan and that of the vlogger,
which resulted in a 100% match.
Besides, the lighter rescued from the resort
is a massive piece of evidence in this case.
Convincing the special court judge to
stop Nila's execution is quite doable.
However, I do realize...
how I am somewhat responsible
for all this mess.
IN COLLEGE, if I had not broken the
relationship between Nila and Maruf,
then perhaps today,
Sohel, Nila, Maruf, Lubna, my love,
all our lives might have been different.
My one wrongdoing...
... turned everything upside down.
That's why I have to redeem myself.
...on behalf of everyone.
