Rust 3 (2023) Movie Script

1
(low eerie rumbling)
(static crackles)
- Here.
Bodies.
Watch out for this gate.
(tinny distorted ringing)
Mugshot room.
(clattering)
(shuffling footsteps)
- [Officer] Some
strobe effects in here.
(indistinct dispatch chatter)
Okay.
All right, these are real.
We have...
It's at least 13 feet.
Severed feet in this room.
- [Officer] Wait right there.
Don't go any further than that.
It's a cage room.
That's another mannequin.
(indistinct dispatch chatter)
On the left.
Trying to make it look
like a morgue in here.
All right. Okay.
Over here, we have
fresh blood on the wall.
I don't know if it's
arterial spray or what.
Looks like it was
applied recently.
Looks like somebody ran
through here recently.
I'm not sure.
Watch your step.
Watch your step here.
Now, come here.
So.
Looks to be a female, early 20s.
(ominous music)
She appears to have a
chest cavity caved in.
What the fuck?
- Please help me.
Please help me.
Help me get out of here.
(people screaming)
- [Victim] Help me
get out of here.
Get me out of here.
Fucking get me out.
(heavy breathing)
(children screech)
(indistinct shouting)
- Please help me.
(ominous music)
- [Reporter] A
gruesome discovery
inside this haunted attraction.
The suspect was involved
with numerous homicides,
as you can see authorities
along with the medical examiner
are removing bodies
from the building.
- Authorities are calling this
the most horrific
crime of the decade.
Medical examiners have
been wheeling bodies
outside of the property.
The boxes and barrels
have been reported-
- [Reporter] Police also
removed many boxes and barrels
that are also claimed to be
filled with human remains.
Police are reluctant
to reveal the number
of how many victims
there might be,
but knowledgeable investigators
say it could be more
than three dozen.
- That they have been combing
down this whole crime scene
since the crack of dawn,
and now they're afraid
this tiny discovery
is just the beginning.
- [Reporter] Authorities
are calling this
the most horrific crime
in this state's history.
- [Tom] Although the
identity of the killer
has not been revealed,
it is believed that this
individual is a past offender
and has been involved in
these horrendous crimes
for quite some time.
I'm Tom Hammond, and
this is KLB news.
- Man, that was rough.
What do you feel
when you see that?
- It's been a while
since I've seen that,
but all I can think
of is we made it out.
A sense of relief
that it's over.
I feel horrible too.
I can't even imagine
what the families
of all those victims
went through,
all those innocent people.
But it's been a
long time, you know?
I'm so thankful
to be here today,
and I'm so grateful that we
were able to make it over that.
- [Kevin] Right.
But what are your
thoughts on the fact
that they never found the person
responsible for the crime?
- Well, in my book, I-
- [Kevin] And what about Morgan?
In your book, you stated that
you knew her whereabouts.
What happened to you both?
When we come back,
we'll ask the most
important question of all:
what happened to
Travis McClennan?
Is he walking amongst
us, or has he disappeared
and just become a
twisted tale of death?
- That's so sad. Poor girl.
- Yeah, it sucks.
What? It happened
a long time ago.
- You're stupid.
- Yeah, they walk among us.
He's probably in a wheelchair,
like a cane or something.
Like 50 years old.
- Yeah, because that's so old.
Have you heard
anything about this?
- Mm.
My brother just says it's
where college students
would just go to hook
up and smoke weed.
- He never saw anything?
- He said that he
heard something,
but other than that, it
just smelled like shit.
But we'll have to find
out for ourselves.
- [Maddie] Hotel Fear?
Like that Hotel Fear?
- Dude, it's gonna
be fucking dope.
I mean, all the tickets sold
out in the first weekend,
so I got the hookup.
- The hookup?
- Yeah. Jason.
- Oh, you and Jason are still?
Brooke, I don't know about this.
- Maddie, come on.
It's just one night.
You know, to have fun?
You know what that
word means, right?
Because I know you haven't
done it in a long time, so.
- Okay, let's do it.
- Sweet. Maybe we can
even find you a boy there.
- Oh no.
- Maddie, come on. I know
you like them freaks.
- You are disgusting.
- He knew not to ask,
but he did anyway.
- [Heather] It's fine.
Fuck. I forgot we
were doing this today.
- We can ask if we could
cancel or reschedule.
- [Heather] No, I'll be
okay. Don't worry about it.
Is my hair okay?
- You're good.
- Thanks. Remind me to
never get bangs again.
- Hi.
- Heather. Nice to meet you.
- Nice to meet you.
Sorry I'm running late.
- [Carl] No, no,
no, you're fine.
We're just finished setting up.
- [Heather] Oh, awesome.
- This is our cameraman, Erik.
- Hi. Nice to meet you.
- Thank you for having us.
- [Heather] Oh, of course. Hi.
- Hi.
- [Carl] We'll get started.
- And do you want me to look
at the camera or at you?
- [Carl] Just look at me.
- Okay.
- [Carl] Just look at me.
We're good?
So this is the way
it's gonna work.
I'm gonna ask you a question,
and respond to me
with how you feel.
- Okay.
- [Carl] I'll first start off
with introducing yourself.
- Yeah.
I'm Heather James,
and I am one of the survivors
of the Hotel Fear Massacre.
- [Carl] What made you be
okay with us coming in here
and allowing us to your home
to share this story with us?
- Yeah.
Basically, I released my book
a little over a month ago,
and I just figured it was time
to share my experience
with everyone.
And I wanna put eyes
on the case again,
because as you know,
it's still an open case,
and I really wanna put
pressure on the department
to keep it going and
trying to solve it.
- [Carl] And I wanna
commend you for that.
- Thank you.
- [Carl] For your bravery,
and wanting to
share that with us.
- Thank you.
- [Carl] Now, there'll be
no questions unanswered.
There'll be no filters, and
we'll just get things started.
- Okay.
- [Carl] Now tell
me how you feel
when you hear that Travis
McClennan is still out there.
- Honestly, I'm petrified.
I'm furious.
I'm devastated.
There was just no
justice for the victims
who lost their lives, their
families, us, the survivors.
It's unbearable to
think about, honestly.
- [Carl] I mean, what you guys
went through was traumatic.
How did you overcome that?
- I'm not gonna sit here and
lie and say I overcame it.
Honestly, I'm still dealing
with it every single day.
But I found a place within
myself where I can find peace,
and I can really appreciate
that every single day
we have is a gift.
- [Carl] It's been seven years
since everything happened.
And the place
where it all began,
where it all started
is reopening.
And you're gonna be there.
Why? Why go back there?
- Yeah, it sounds
crazy, but in my book,
I tell my readers, to
overcome your fears,
you have to face them head on.
And I was able to do that
with basically everything
in my life except for this.
Just because it really
didn't have the opportunity.
And of course I'm terrified,
but I think it's time to
practice what I preach,
and really go out
there and do it.
- [Carl] Well, I think it's
gonna be a great event.
Your fans are gonna come
to be able to meet you.
Any chance we'll be
able to see Morgan?
Will she be there?
- I'm sorry. No. We need
to finish this interview.
You know you weren't supposed
to ask anything about that,
so we're done.
- It's okay. Just
give us a second.
- Okay.
(Heather sighs)
(indistinct shouting)
(water splashes)
- Lisa, I am sorry.
- [Lisa] Let's talk
in the kitchen.
- [Carl] Okay.
- Oh, you don't
need to apologize.
This is a question that a lot
of people ask about Morgan.
Where is she? How's she doing?
I just feel like
it's really hard
for Heather to
answer the question.
- [Carl] Gotcha, gotcha.
So, what did happen to Morgan?
- You know, I can't imagine
what my sister and
Morgan went through.
- [Carl] Oh, so you're
Heather's sister?
- Yeah.
- [Carl] Oh, wow.
I was adopted when I was three.
- [Carl] Gotcha.
- But I think they just both
handled it very differently.
Like Heather was always more
positive about everything.
And Morgan? Different.
- [Carl] Yeah.
- [Lisa] What people
don't know is Morgan,
through the media
and everything,
it wasn't released
that she was pregnant.
- [Carl] Oh, wow.
- Yeah. Officers said that
she was raped multiple times.
- [Heather] Really? That
wasn't your story to tell.
- [Lisa] I'm sorry.
- No, that's why you
guys are here, right?
For your fucking story.
You'll get your story,
but it'll be my way.
That way, everyone understands
what happened to Morgan
and why she's in hiding.
Fucking assholes.
- Let's get over there.
- We weren't
supposed to go back,
but Morgan's family hired
a private investigator
and a sheriff's deputy to
escort us through the house
to try and keep us safe.
I was the one that was supposed
to be leading everyone,
because I knew
the house already.
But when we got there,
it was like he knew
we were gonna come,
and him and another,
they just hunted us down.
They had the whole entire place
just rigged with these traps.
And me and Tommy.
- [Carl] Tommy Linker.
- Yeah. He's one of the
ones who didn't make it.
But Tommy went out
there to get Morgan,
and that's all he cared about.
So he was able to do that. But
at the time he got to Morgan,
she was there for
over a month already.
And they beat her every day.
They tortured her.
I mean, they did the
most unspeakable things.
I just can't even
begin to imagine.
And I mean, God only knows,
but we finally thought
we were gonna get out
and we were almost there.
And after every single
thing Morgan went through,
they just killed Tommy
right in front of her.
I mean, if anybody went
through a 10th of what she did,
they would be fucked up for
the rest of their lives.
- [Carl] So let me ask
you, where's Morgan now?
- I think we'll pick
that up tomorrow,
and just finish this now.
- [Carl] Okay. That's
fine. We'll stop there.
Heather, thank you so much.
I know that was a lot.
I know it couldn't be easy for
you, so thank you for that.
(distant hammering)
(drill whirring)
- The cables have to
be behind the boards.
What do I pay you guys for?
Hey.
Yeah. What time's
she gonna arrive?
All right.
Yeah, we'll be ready by then.
(door squeaks)
(squeaking footsteps)
(eerie music)
- Is somebody in here?
(door squeaks)
All right, if someone's in here,
you better stop fucking around.
Great. And there's still
shit on the ground.
Damn it.
The fuck? You scared
the shit outta me.
All right.
Good job. Ha ha, ha ha.
You wanna go back to work now?
And why are you in wardrobe?
You guys aren't supposed to
be ready for like four hours.
I said get a move on.
Don't gimme a reason.
And clean all this
shit off the ground.
(wet splattering)
(ragged breathing)
(phone rings)
- Hello?
Hey, babe.
Yeah, I got them.
Three VIP passes.
Yeah.
Can you meet me
here around 6, 6:30?
Yeah. Meet me at the front.
Okay.
Yeah. All right. Bye.
(woman screams)
- Oh, fuck. Don't
fucking do that.
- Come on. Don't
be a little bitch.
Jason, come on.
Man, this place is sick.
(ragged breathing)
(ominous music)
(squeaking footsteps)
- Okay, we're all set. We
just need to be there at 6:30.
(muffled pop music)
Maddie, come on.
It's just one night.
One night to let
loose and have fun,
and get your head
outta those books.
- I know, you're right.
(ominous music)
- Hey.
- Oh my gosh, you bitch.
- I take it you told her.
- Yep. And she's in.
- [Sarah] Nice night to meet.
All right. You
wanna go get ready?
- Yeah.
- Awesome.
- I hear her name or
someone ask me about her,
and there's just
this ache in my chest
and I'm still so mad at myself
for not making her
just turn around,
and never going in that fucking
place in the first place.
- [Therapist] Okay.
Well, I'm not concerned.
It has been a while since
you have spoken to Morgan,
and you're going back
to that place tonight.
All this could be
a trigger point.
- [Heather] I know.
And I know it's not my fault,
but Travis is still out there,
and I am petrified that
he's gonna come back
and just finish us off.
- [Therapist] Heather.
We don't know that.
You moved one state over,
only a few hours away from
where it all happened.
- And?
- [Therapist] It's very
difficult for you to move on.
If you wanted to find you,
he would've found you by now.
You're letting him live in
your mind, in your emotions.
And that is what
we need to work on.
Technically, you're still in
recovery from what happened.
- I know. I know you're right.
But listen, I just need
to get through tonight.
So, I need you to
gimme something.
- [Therapist] Heather,
that is not the answer.
- [Heather] Yes it is, okay?
I need you to just pull
out your little notepad
and write me my
fucking prescription.
- [Therapist] Heather,
you have to focus
on your breathing
and the technique we
practiced to calm you down.
- Breathing? Really?
I'm so sick of
pretending like I'm okay
and that this whole
thing didn't fuck me up
for the rest of my life.
Okay? I pay you. So
write me my prescription.
- [Therapist] Heather.
You are so much
stronger than you think.
But I have told you
time and time again,
you are not ready for this.
- You're the one that told me
that I need to face my fears.
So here I am and I need
to get through this.
So write me the prescription.
- [Therapist] Heather, I'm
really concerned about you.
- Oh, now you're
concerned? Please.
You know what?
Don't even worry
about it, asshole,
'cause you're fucking fired.
(somber music)
- Is everything okay?
- Yeah, everything's fine.
I actually wanted
to talk to you guys.
I'm really sorry
about everything that
happened yesterday.
It was just a super rough day.
But I'll answer
all your questions.
Let's just get
through tonight, okay?
- [Carl] All right.
- [Lisa] Ready to go?
- Yeah.
(muffled pop music)
- [Announcer] All
right, guys, let's go.
Tonight's the night.
Make sure your make up
and wardrobe is on point.
- That actually is really cool.
- [Announcer] Gonna
open up the door,
you've got customers
lined up around you.
(indistinct).
- [Actor] First night.
- [Announcer] More blood is
good, guys. More blood is good.
All right?
Remember, you scare
the children and women,
and make some grown-ass
men shit their pants.
You guys are gonna enjoy this
tonight. Tonight's the night.
Hotel Fear reopens.
(intense house music)
(actor shrieks)
- Oh. And there is
one more patient.
Enjoy your stay.
(muffled laughter)
(ragged breathing)
(indistinct chatter)
- Oh my God, this
is gonna be awesome.
- It'll be fine.
- Maddie, I got you, girl.
I'll protect you from anybody
that's trying to kill you.
- She's kidding.
You are kidding, right?
- Really?
- Well, we are
going to the place
where almost 80
people got murdered.
- What'd you say?
- Let's go find Jason.
(chainsaw buzzes)
(people screaming)
- Watch where you're going.
- You watch it.
- Excuse me? You ran into me.
- You're right. I
should have seen you.
With a face like that, I
should have been scared.
- "A face like that." Is
that the best you can do?
Clever.
Open your eyes.
(intense house music)
- Jake?
Jake?
Where the hell is Jake?
Jason, have you seen Jake?
- [Jason] Not since earlier, no.
(actor groans)
- [Actor] Where's Jake?
(muffled screaming)
(ominous rumbling)
- Mad, you okay?
- Yeah. I just thought
I saw something.
(girls scream)
- Really? Not cool.
- Ah, I see they convinced
you to get in on the scares.
- That's right.
- Okay. Here are
three VIP passes.
Asylum's the new one.
That's a bit longer, more scary.
Hotel?
That's where it all happened.
- Yeah. Yeah. We know. So?
- This one.
- Thanks. Bye.
- Thank you.
- All right.
- Baby.
- Oh, hey.
- How are you?
- Good.
- Let's just go in back here.
- All right.
- Yeah.
Climb in.
- Someone's gonna catch us.
- No one's gonna catch us.
- Okay.
Idiot.
- Come on. This is
the perfect room.
- Babe, we're gonna get caught.
- We're not going to get
caught. There's no one in here.
It's just me and you.
- Okay. It's always
just me and you.
(distant dripping)
(ominous music)
- Oh, shit.
- [Kyle] Sorry.
- Yeah.
- Sorry. We should have
never done this here.
We'll just leave.
- Kyle?
- [Kyle] Dude, I
said we're sorry.
Come on.
(dramatic music)
(Freddy groans)
- [Freddy] Someone
help me, please.
(wet squelching)
- Freddy.
(ominous music)
(rapid footsteps)
(girl squeals)
- [Kyle] Get the
fuck out of my way.
- [Actor] What the fuck?
- Dude, I love your
Travis costume.
(head crunches)
Oh no.
No.
(Kyle pants)
(eerie music)
- Goddamn, it's hot.
Fuck.
(dramatic music)
(Kyle groans)
(wet squelching)
(indistinct chatter)
(girls scream)
- [Maddie] Okay. He is a cutie.
- I know.
- God. This place is insane.
Can you believe the last
time people were here
were over 30 years ago?
- You know, they say that
within the remodeling,
they actually kept some of the
set pieces from the massacre?
I said I heard. I don't
know if it's true.
- [Carl] Heather, can you
tell us what you're feeling?
Heather?
- I'm sorry. Let's just go.
- [Carl] Okay.
- [Bystander] Oh my
gosh. Is that Heather?
Oh my gosh. I'm such a huge fan.
Can I get some selfies?
(distant screaming)
- [Bystander] Thank you.
(crowd applauds)
- No fucking way.
It's Heather James.
- [Maddie] Who?
- [Brooke] Heather James,
the girl from the massacre.
Wow. Takes balls
to show up here.
(muffled dubstep)
(indistinct chatter)
- I am both excited and
honored to be here today.
So, let's just get
straight to it.
I am proud to announce
that the new and improved
Hotel Fear is officially open.
(crowd cheers)
- She's so pretty.
- [Steward] All
right, you're next.
- Actually, you guys go ahead
and I'll meet up with
you before we go in.
- Brooke, really?
You're gonna leave us?
- Maddie, it'll
only be a minute.
- And that's all
it's gonna take?
- It'll be quick. Plus
these tickets weren't free.
You have to pay
for them somehow.
I love you.
(ominous music)
(actor sighs)
(ominous music)
- You're new.
I don't think I've
seen that get up yet.
It's pretty sweet.
It's almost over.
Hey.
Are you still back there?
(distant thud)
Calm down.
(metallic jingling)
(dramatic music)
(actor shouts)
- [Actor] No. No, no, no.
- Wait, hold on one
second. Hold on.
Okay. What?
What? No, absolutely not. No.
- Heather. Heather?
What is it?
- She wants us to do a live
walk through of the haunt.
- Oh, I'll do that.
- Totally do that.
- Fine, fine.
Yes, you do.
All right. Bye.
- So?
- I guess.
- Yes.
- Let's do this shit.
- [Crew] Yeah.
(ominous music)
(fingers crack)
- Come on. What's wrong?
- Oh, we don't
have time for this.
Just kiss me.
(glass smashes)
(Brooke screams)
(dramatic music)
- [Bystander] Hey, can
I get a selfie with you?
- Yeah, of course.
- Awesome.
- Sorry.
- No, no, it's fine.
It's not like you
almost died in there.
(muffled ticking)
(eerie whispering)
(rhythmic squeaking)
(distant scream)
- I'm sorry, Carl. Please
go front. I'm so sorry.
Can you please go
front? I'm sorry.
Sam and Erik, you
can stay back there.
I'm sorry.
- Are you sure?
- [Heather] I'm sorry.
Can you please just go
in front please, please?
- Okay.
(distant wailing)
- [Steward] Let's go.
Hurry up. Get up there.
(metallic clanking)
- You get to go in by yourself.
- I'm good. Thank you.
(door slams)
(clock chimes)
(Heather screams)
(Heather whimpers)
- Heather. You okay?
- I'm sorry. It seems
real. I'm sorry.
- [Carl] It seems
real, but it's not.
It's not real. It's all fake.
Come on. It's all fun.
We're almost done. Come on.
(eerie music)
- Come on.
(animatronic snickers)
(door creaks)
(door handle squeaks)
(dramatic music)
- Please don't hurt me. Please.
Don't hurt me, please.
Please don't hurt me.
Please, take me
with you, please.
Please get outta here. Please.
Help me. You gotta
take me with you.
Please get me out of here,
he'll fucking kill me.
No, no, no, no, no.
(wet squelching)
(ominous music)
(Sarah screams)
(distant woman screaming)
- God help me.
Help me.
God help me. Help me.
Help me please.
No.
- That kind of got me a little.
(Heather hyperventilates)
- [Crew] Hey, it's
not funny, man.
- [Heather] Please.
(indistinct). Go.
- [Crew] Go, go.
- [Heather] Please.
Please. Please help me.
Help. Help me.
Please let me out. God
help me. Let me out.
Help. Please. He's got me.
He's here. He's really here.
- [Crew] Who's here?
Who the fuck was that?
- [Carl] Where the
fuck are we going?
- [Crew] Go, go, go, go.
Move. Move. Oh shit, oh God.
- [Carl] Come on, man.
Come on, man. Not here,
not here, not here.
- Go, go, go.
- [Heather] Get us out
of here. Please help us.
Please. Please.
- Heather, will you tell me
what the fuck is going on?
- [Heather] He's in there.
He's coming, he's coming.
- [Carl] Calm down. Calm down.
- He's coming.
Travis is not real.
- Somebody help.
- It's not fucking real.
- Yes it fucking is.
- [Crew] Give me
that damn camera.
- [Heather] Help us, please.
- [Carl] Heather. Heather.
None of this is real.
- He's coming, let's go.
Help us. Help.
Help, please. Help.
Stop.
- Calm down.
- [Heather] He's
coming, he's coming.
(distant screaming)
(door rattles)
- [Tim] Fuck.
(door rattles)
- [Tim] Fuck.
(ominous music)
(slow footsteps)
(door squeaks)
(man groans)
(wet squelching)
- Sarah.
Brooke.
Brooke?
Sarah? Where are you guys?
Brooke?
Sarah?
(Maddie screams)
Get off me, get off me.
Oh my God, help.
- [Bystander] This
one's the best.
(birds chirping)
- Thanks.
(bowls clatter)
- You get some rest?
Not really.
- Heather.
- [Heather] Can you just stop
saying my name like that?
I'm not gonna break.
Look, I'm sorry. It's
just, I know what I saw.
He's back.
- Morning.
Oh, thank you.
- I'm fine.
- Okay.
So, I've been doing
some thinking.
I think you need to talk
about what happened last night
on camera.
It's necessary.
It's something that-
- [Erik] I have something
to show you guys.
Look.
- Wait, when is this?
- This is the footage
from last night.
(ominous music)
- There's no way.
- What is it?
(phone rings)
- Hello?
Okay.
Okay.
Thank you.
- What happened?
- Seven bodies were found
at the haunt this morning.
Two of them was Sam and Tim.
There's still two girls missing.
- He found me.
- Where are you going?
- I have to get Morgan.
- Erik, get the camera.
- [Erik] Heather, can you tell
us where we're at right now?
- This is where Morgan is.
I've known for a while now.
- [Erik] But wait, you
told us you didn't know.
- To keep her safe.
I tried to help her
over and over again,
but she didn't want the help.
- [Erik] What
happened to you guys?
- When everything happened,
she couldn't handle it.
She lost communication
with her family, with me.
She got involved with
the wrong people.
She blamed herself
for everything,
so she got into drugs.
She got in trouble with
the law a few times.
I tried to help
her so many times,
but she told me to stop.
So I just try to keep my
distance until she needs me.
But I have to get her now.
- [Erik] So is there a
house out here or what?
What is this exactly?
- No.
In fact, this place
isn't really that safe.
You should probably keep
your equipment in the car
and just hide it under a jacket,
or under the seat if it fits.
- [Erik] Okay. All
right, let's go for it.
(crunching footsteps)
- Listen, just keep quiet
and keep your head up.
(steps clank)
Morgan?
Morgan?
(detritus crunches)
Morgan?
Morgan?
Morgan?
Morgan. Morgan, it's
Heather. Hi. Hi.
- [Morgan] Hi.
Heather.
- [Carl] Hi Morgan. Hi.
- Oh. Oh, you brought friends?
- [Heather] Yeah.
Yeah. Come on.
Come on. I gotta get
you outta here. Okay?
- [Carl] Hi, Morgan.
My name's Carl.
- Carl?
Heather, you brought the news?
- [Heather] No, no, no, no.
- What the fuck
are you doing here?
- [Heather] Not the
news. No, no, no, no.
- [Morgan] Why would
you bring them?
- [Heather] Okay. Come on.
Come on. It's okay, Morgan.
I gotta get you
outta here, okay?
Morgan, come on. Come
on. Can you help me?
- [Carl] Yeah. Yeah.
- [Heather] Come on,
Morgan. It's okay.
We're gonna go home, okay?
You're gonna come
home with me, okay?
Everything's gonna
be fine, okay?
(detritus crunches)
Come on, Morgan, it's okay.
- [Erik] Where the
fuck are we right now?
- So what now?
- I don't know, but
as long as she's here,
I can just sleep
better at night.
Let's just cut this for tonight,
and we'll pick it up tomorrow.
- Sure. Let's cut.
(birds chirping)
(Heather sighs)
(cupboard slams)
(ominous music)
(heavy breathing)
- Fuck. You scared
the shit out of me.
- What's going on?
- [Heather] Do you want
something to drink?
- [Morgan] Sure.
- Okay.
(water splashes)
- Your place is nice.
- [Heather] Thanks. I've been
working on it all summer.
Here you go.
- What is this?
- It's lavender tea. It's
supposed to help calm you.
What?
- [Morgan] Heather,
why am I here?
- I just wanted to see
how you were doing.
- [Morgan] Oh, bullshit.
How many times do I have
to tell you I'm not you?
- I'm not saying you are, okay?
Can you just keep your
voice down a little bit?
- Oh, am I too loud for you?
Do I not fit in this
perfect world that you made?
I'm not a fucking charity case.
I don't need your help, and
I don't need your money.
I've been doing
fine all on my own.
- Morgan, he's back.
- What?
- They reopened the
haunt last night,
and he killed seven people.
He took two more girls with him.
- How do you even know it's him?
- I saw him myself.
I came face to face with him,
and he could have killed me,
but he didn't.
I don't know why.
- And you brought me here,
so he can find both of us?
- What?
- [Morgan] I was
fine where I was.
He wasn't gonna find me.
- [Heather] Oh yeah. That's
the smartest thing to do.
Go back to the streets.
- Why the fuck couldn't
you just leave me alone?
You let Dean go and live
his life. But me? Me?
You keep pulling me back in,
and I'm just trying to forget
everything that happened,
and I can't when all you
do is pull me back in.
- I brought you here
to be safe, okay?
Here is safe. There's a
cop stationed outside.
Every door and window
has a lock and alarm.
You're safe here.
- No. No.
I was safe not existing.
- Look Morgan, just for
tonight, just stay here,
and if you wanna go
back in the morning,
I'll drive you myself, okay?
I need you here with me,
and you might even like it.
You know I still have that
room for you upstairs.
Listen Morgan, I love you.
- Me too.
(melancholy music)
- Just get some rest. Okay?
We'll figure it
out in the morning.
(eerie music)
(birds chirping)
(lock clicks)
(ominous music)
(water splashes)
(door squeaks)
(distant glass smashing)
- What the hell was that?
- I don't know. Heather?
- Yeah, I'm fine. Morgan?
(ominous music)
(indistinct police
dispatch chatter)
(melancholy music)
- [Lisa] What's going on
in your head right now?
- I had this plan where
I could convince her
to move in with us, and we
would help each other move on.
She could finally find a guy
and get married and have kids,
and we could raise
our children together.
And they would be
best friends too.
If you told me a week ago
we'd be worse off than before.
Now he's back to kill us off.
- [Rich] Ms. James.
My name is Rich Morri.
I'm the detective
assigned to this case.
- Did you guys find anything?
- Well, actually I
wanted to ask you.
Do you have any idea
who would've done
something like this?
- Of course.
- Who?
- It's Travis McLennan.
- You sure?
- Absolutely.
- Let me show you something.
My partner was the detective
assigned to your case
the day you girls were rescued.
He passed a few years ago.
And I took over.
(ominous music)
This guy, Ryan Foley.
- Yeah.
He's the investigator
Morgan's parents hired
to take us back.
- He was no private
investigator.
He was an ex-sheriff
seeking justice.
He reached out to
Morgan's parents,
and suggested they
should go back for her.
But not to help.
He was in search of his niece.
Ashley.
Ashley's body was one of
the many recovered that day.
- Oh my god.
- [Rich] She'd been
missing for three months.
- Wait, I know her.
- [Rich] Her name
is Valerie Smith.
She's one of the victims.
- She's not a fucking victim.
She's the one that killed Tommy.
She tried to kill me and
Morgan, but we stopped her.
- Her parents,
they said she went missing
when she went on a road
trip with her sister.
- No, she was with him.
- [Rich] In the
statement you both gave,
you mentioned it was like he
was trying to save Morgan.
He would constantly
make sure she was okay.
- Yeah.
There was a time when that
girl tried to kill Morgan,
but he stopped her.
- Seems like he's repeating
some sort of cycle.
- But why now after seven years?
And the haunt has
been remodeled.
There's people
lurking day and night.
How was he not seen?
- No, that's what we were
trying to tell you guys.
He lives in the walls.
When they were remodeling,
he must have just
hid the whole time.
Morgan was right. She
was better off missing.
How can you kill someone
that doesn't exist?
- But you weren't hiding.
- [Rich] This is so
out of his pattern.
All of the bodies that were
found in the last 20 years
were found in that area.
Now, we're talking about
a whole different state.
How could he have followed
you all the way over here?
- When I went back, I signed
over our lives to him.
He didn't kill me 'cause
Morgan wasn't with me.
He knew I would lead
him right to her.
I'm the reason she's dead.
- [Carl] Oh, sorry.
We're gonna head out.
Thought it'd be best, just
to give you guys some space.
- Thanks.
- [Carl] Before we leave though,
we have something to show you.
- [Erik] When we arrived,
we set up cameras
around your house.
We wanted to capture
some real time paranormal
activity shit, you know?
Sorry.
Anyways, everything was normal
until about 11:20 last night.
(ominous music)
- Jesus.
He was right next to me.
Oh my God.
- I know where he is.
We need to end this tonight.
(distant woman wailing)
(eerie music)
(woman sobs)
- [Woman] Oh my God. Oh my God.
Hurry, help me. He's coming.
Hurry up, he's coming. Please
get me outta here. Please.
Please, hurry up. Please.
- I'm sorry, I can't help.
- [Woman] What do you
mean you can't help me?
Get me the fuck out
of here, please.
- I can't get you out.
- Please help me.
Please, please, help me.
- I'm sorry. No, I'm...
- Please get me out of here.
(door squeaks)
No, help.
No.
No.
No. Please. Please, no.
Please, please, no.
You don't have to
do this, please. No.
No.
What the fuck are you doing? No.
No, let me go. Please.
No.
(woman sobs)
(eerie music)
(wet squelching)

- Run. Run.
- [Maddie] Help me.
- No. No.

Get up.
Get up.
Quick, quick, quick, quick.
Get up. Quick, quick.
- He's here.
- Okay.
This way, this way. Go, go.
Come on, come on, come on.
Trevor.
Trevor.
Trevor.
(eerie music)
- Come out here, you
bastard. Come out.
(ragged breathing)
Come and get me, motherfucker.
(gun fires)
(Heather pants)
- Don't worry, he's
not going anywhere.
(somber music)
(both sobbing)
- Got one in
custody. Hotel Fear.
(ragged breathing)
(birds chirping)
