Soul to Squeeze (2025) Movie Script

Right
now at this very moment,
...as you watch these light
rays striking the magnified eye,
similar tiny beams of light
are entering your own eyes,
and it's by our eyes that we are able
to gain a great part of our knowledge.
Nature has located the
eye close to the brain
so that its messages
may arrive there quickly.
Now, just how do light rays act
to form a clear picture within the eye,
first, let us realize that light rays
reflected from any object
radiate in all directions,
and that as an object
moves farther away from us,
the angle between the
rays that enter our eyes
grows smaller and smaller.
And finally, when the object is reached
a distance of 15 feet or more,
the rays entering our
eyes are practically parallel.
Now, nature has provided
that the parallel ray
shall produce a sharp
image upon the retina,
and as one may say,
with the eye in a state
of complete relaxation.
But if a distant object approaches the eye,
the angle between entering
rays again grows larger.
This increasing angle changes the direction
of the light rays as they
pass through the lens
so that the sharp image
falls behind the retina.
As a result, the image upon the retina
tends to become blurred.
This blurring causes a response
or reflex within our brain,
which brings about
harmonious internal adjustments
of all parts of the eye.
This adjustment is called accommodation.
Accommodation restores
the sharply focused image
with marvelous speed and accuracy.
This is all the more remarkable
because the distance
between lens and retina is fixed,
and the lens itself must change its shape.
It is also necessary that both our eyes
be fixed upon the same point in order
that we may see an object clearly.
- Make me happy again.
Jacob.
- Yeah,
You won't
be afraid to be afraid.
- Who is this? - You aren't afraid?
- You're right.
Of course not.
You won't want anything to scare you.
- Yeah. No shit.
I wrote that in your little survey form.
What's your point?
So young and already so sad.
That's why you're so aggressive.
It's your only cover.
- Hey, fuck you, man. All right.
I thought I was doing this
so I could skip all this
talky, shrinky bullshit.
You don't wanna talk about
anything with any weight,
especially Shirlene?
- Shirlene?
What the fuck do you know about Shirlene?
You guys said he wouldn't even go
snoop around my past for this to work.
That's right.
- Then how do you know about her then?
I know everything. Don't worry.
We'll get another chance to talk.
- Fuck you. Fuck.
Oh, I see what you're trying to do.
You're trying to set me off.
That's right.
And we both know how
easy that is, right, big guy?
- Listen, as long as this
mind game, mind game,
- Listen. - Yeah.
- As long as this fixes
me as fast as you say,
well, I'm ready for anything.
So you guys throw whatever you want at me.
No one who's gonna
throw anything at you, Jacob,
or make anything happen.
It's not how it works here. It's all you.
Everything that happens here is you.
- Well, let's get moving then.
You can't
rush when you can't feel
and you can't see when you can't stomach.
- What? Now we're throwing out riddles?
That's more of a thought.
- I don't want your thoughts, asshole.
Are you laughing at me?
More like saying Goodbye, Jacob.
- Goodbye. Jesus Christ.
Okay. Y'all done now?
I think so.
The iris, with
its central opening, the pupil.
Like the diaphragm of a camera,
the iris regulates the amount of light
and sharpens the image upon the retina.
Nature has also provided ample protection
for this very delicate organ.
This front part bulges
and forms a highly transparent window.
Another important safeguard
to the eye is the tear gland,
which secretes the tear fluid.
This is an effective germicide,
which drains through the
tear ducts into the nose
after flushing and cleaning
the entire eye surface.
Here, with the outer coverings removed,
we see the eyeball completely surrounded
by a layer of soft fatty tissue
and placed within the bony orbit
where it lies protected
against sudden jolts.
Seen from the side,
the protected possession
of the eyeball within its
funnel shaped eye socket
is shown still more clearly.
Once again, we see the fatty cushion,
which protects it on all sides.
Note this white stalk,
which is the optic nerve,
and also these muscles
which move the eyeball.
This is the empty eye
socket within the skull
with its bony walls inside
and the rim of the bony orbit in front.
The innermost layer of
the eyeball is the retina,
a very delicate brain.
The retina is actually a
part of the optic nerve,
which transmits the
light impulses to our brain.
The retina is the most important
and complex structure in the eyeball.
Magnified many hundred times,
the retina is seen to consist
of this complicated
arrangement of rods and cones,
which convert light
waves into nerve impulses
in some manner, which even science of today
cannot fully explain.
Hey.
Hello?
Man, are you okay?
- That's so good.
So good.
Dreaming about my dog, Rocky.
Rocky.
Come here, boy.
Yeah, yeah.
That's a good boy.
Ouch. Calm down, Rocky.
Ouch. Calm down.
Rocky, down!
Rocky, down!
- There's nothing there.
What?
- You.
You look fucking stupid.
You're fucking stupid.
You're a stupid, stupid dog.
- How'd you do this?
- I didn't do anything. You did.
- This isn't a dream, right,
'cause I don't remember going to sleep?
- No, not a dream. You're in a cross.
- Cross like a crossroads.
- Yeah, an intersection
where your physical body
and your subconscious exist
on the same plane at the same time.
Don't worry, Jacob.
There's no dream in here.
You can't go any further beside yourself
than where you're at now.
When you sleep, you'll only rest.
You're gonna need it.
Good night.
- Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready for the next contest?
Are you ready to play?
Oh no. He fucked up, didn't he, folks?
That's all right. He can't help it.
Jacob's kind of a clumsy prick.
What do you think?
Should we give him another chance?
Are you sure?
Okay.
Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready to play the next contest?
Are you ready to play?
Was that so hard. you
stupid son of a bitch?
Until next time, remember.
Don't fuck this up.
Jacob.
- What the fuck?
God, I fucking hate hair.
What the fuck?
It's coming off.
- Feeling blue?
- Yeah.
How'd you know?
Your pajama, silly?
Is it?
I thought,
I thought, - You thought what?
It was a coincidence?
- Isn't it?
- Who is to say,
what we do,
why we do it,
where it comes from?
I mean, am I a woman,
a part of a flower?
Am I just an invention of your mind?
Shirlene.
Fuck.
Damn it.
Fuck.
- Let me in. Let me in.
No. I don't wanna hide it.
No. No.
Well, well.
What have we got here?
A man, a tiny man.
- I got a wife and kids. Millions of kids.
Hold on there mate.
Nobody's going to hurt you.
- Sex, women, loose things.
Things we thought we had.
Ever have a dream where you find a treasure
of the wholeness,
the elation,
but as you wake up,
that perfect reality begins to fall apart.
By the time you open your eyes,
that realization, it's all gone.
Just like the pink glory
you lost in the pond.
You remember, don't you?
- I do now.
When I was seven.
- Your father told you to use worms,
but you wanted to fish like him.
So when he wasn't looking,
you took that lure out of the tackle box.
- And then I put him around
the other side of the tree
so he couldn't see me.
- And then?
- It was a perfect ass.
- But you didn't know how to knot it.
And it was gone.
- I should have jumped in that pond.
He got it from grandpa.
- When he found out,
he started to scold you, but stopped
and began to laugh at himself instead.
- He's a good dad,
bad at everything.
- You think so?
- Bad son, employee, student?
Watch the show.
- The show.
- The one on the TV.
- Yeah, I've seen the show.
All right.
Endless diagram of eye... Well, try again.
And eat something.
You look like shit.
- Thanks. - You're welcome.
- No, I meant thanks for the insult.
- I know what you meant.
Here in
addition, we see the choroid.
It consists of three
different belts or zones.
The first zone is called the choroid proper
and is the part that carries nourishment
to the tissues of the eye.
The next zone is called the ciliary body.
This is a broad ring shaped
band of thin muscle fibers,
which play a very active and vital part
in the visual adjustment of the eye.
Here is an outside view
of the entire choroid,
which shows the dense network of arteries
and veins carrying
nourishment to the eyeball.
You can also see the shape
of the ciliary body and the iris.
The innermost layer of
the eyeball is the retina,
a very delicate membrane.
The retina is actually a
part of the optic nerve,
which transmits the
light impulses to our brain.
The retina is the most important
and complex structure in the eyeball.
- Why even bother?
Magnified many hundred times,
the retina is seen to consist
of this complicated
arrangement of rods and cones,
which convert light
waves into nerve impulses
in some manner, which
even science of today,
cannot fully explain.
Between the lens and the cornea,
Come on Jacob.
You know you need your glasses.
- There you go, Shirlene.
- Thank you, Jacob.
- Nice try.
YOu're still a piece of shit.
So you wanna go Jacob,
like when we were little?
Yeah. Sounds like fun.
It'll be, trust me.
Hey, there's our guy.
Jake, nice to see you.
Hi guys. What's up?
Not much. You ready?
Yeah.
Listen, I gotta go to practice.
Okay.
Just come get me after school.
Come on. Jake.
Squirrelly, Shirlene's
not your girlfriend, is she?
Shirlene?
No.
She's, you know, someone from class.
Good.
She looks like she picked out her clothes
from my grandma's closet.
Pearls and shit.
- That dude was right.
Sleep is good here.
No dreams, no thoughts.
Just rest.
I got the best of me.
You can't keep me down
'cause I'm hydrogen, baby.
I'm up.
I'm down.
I'm up.
Still not broken.
It's getting easier and
easier with this routine.
Sleeping and moving as much as possible.
I'll be fine.
Come on, Jacob.
I love Slapsticks.
Maybe not as much as I love drama.
But beggars can't be choosers.
Am I right?
You must feel really special.
Really special.
I mean, a lot of people watch TV,
but it takes a special,
very special for a TV to watch you.
And it is a pleasure to watch you.
You seem to have it figured out.
You're steady, you're cool, you're content,
just coasting along.
So, so smooth.
But I wanna give you a
little piece of information
you seem to be failing to pick up, Jacob.
Let me help you understand
the process a bit better.
Do you mind?
I said, do you mind?
- No.
- Okay, good on.
So what I'm going to do now
is give your taste of your own medicine.
What does that mean exactly?
It means we, the 10 TV's,
we're gonna take a
deeper dive into ourselves,
into our own little TV psyche
and work through our own shit.
Pay attention.
You are
about to take a journey
out of this world into
the world of the future.
Just
doesn't hold true anymore.
- Often fluffy, flapping on a clothes line.
- The story, - And all those,
- Long enough.
- They have, however
Things come up.
Smash your mind and shake your soul
- Pour some hot water.
- And it's just physical,
a little hand bump.
- You're not running
outta hot water, are you?
You're not running out
of hot water, are you?
I wish I had a castle in the sky.
And all this
has been just the beginning.
- Get that, Jacob.
So as I was saying,
the lesson is very simple.
Don't be a coffee prick.
It's not healthy.
It's the opposite of what the
treatment is meant to correct.
The pain has a purpose.
Don't evade it with sleep.
You've got to accept the pain here.
The pain, it will bring you to your knees
because you've do it.
Now you're able to feel right.
Always, always coming upon.
It's not a place you want
to be in for very long.
It runs so deep, Jacob.
If you made it to the other side,
it wouldn't even be you anymore.
So expansive.
But besides the universe itself,
it's the only capsule
that can hold infinity.
By the time you take a few steps in,
you can already be the living imagination
of a random graduate's
thesis "Truth Bomb Theory."
And I gave you marbles
containing consciousness
about being a fig,
who's made from designed
by a drunk programmer,
like a positive two computer nerd
that you we when you were seven
compared dream when you were nine.
And that worm is now eating their brains.
The worms have good reasons, Jacob.
Good reasons.
Victory is turned to fire by
windstorm caused by a blue car.
That passed three years and 45 days ago.
That blue car went on
to win the Kentucky Derby
right it mounted a horse.
It's all running in a field.
Trained her and unfortunately,
the horse thorough bred has now met demise
because of the sea worms
lost their source of food
and they and ate it's brains.
Does this sound like
the place for you, Jacob?
- No.
No. I'll take the medicine.
- Okay, great.
Okay, great.
Oh, now one more thing.
Hi, guy.
Jacob.
- What the fuck is this?
Jacob?
You can't see me until you open up a bit.
Would you like me to help you with that?
- Okay.
Follow me.
Sit.
Now lie all the way back.
Do you see the eye?
- Sure. I guess it sort
of looks like an eye.
Anything will look like
anything if you look at it, right?
Exactly.
So look at it, right?
Look hard.
- I can't fucking do it.
What good is having your sight
if you can't see the complete picture.
- Better than seeing no picture.
You came here for a reason.
- Because out there,
every time I tried, I failed.
I couldn't function anymore.
Functioning,
that's the toughest nut to crack in life.
But if you want outside,
you've got to split it.
- We're staying.
Like the TV set,
you've already gone so deep
it's hard to predict what kind
of mental state you would
be in if you choose to leave.
Look at you.
It's from the stress of exactly
internalizing your sickness all at once.
It's the exchange.
Make sure you stick
around to get what's yours
because if you choose to leave
before the process completes,
you will still be left with that gnawing,
disconcerting feeling, only
a person where someone
in the corner of their eye can feel.
It's maddening.
- Okay. Okay.
I'll do whatever you want me to do.
I'll see whatever you want me to see
Ill feel however you want me to feel.
- Nothing.
Nothing!
Honey, are you out here?
Where are you?
Oh, this isn't happening.
Come
home, honey. We're worried.
Where are you?
- Sorry. Sorry,
Shirlene
Morris, are you out there?
Your parents are worried about you.
If you are hiding, please cone out.
We just want to make
sure that you are safe.
Shirlene Morris, are you out there?
Your parents are worried about you.
If you are hiding, please cone out.
We just want to make
sure that you are safe.
Hey.
Relax, man. Relax.
Let me,
- Open your eyes.
I said it. Open your eyes.
- Let go!
- No. You let go.
This is a bargain?
This is fucking hell.
Here. I want you to have this.
Your necklace?
- Don't worry.
- You don't have to wear it.
I just want you to hold it for me.
Why?
Because I don't think
it looks good on me anymore.
No?
No.
You can give it back to
me when I'm an old lady.
Okay.
Yeah, that's them.
You were supposed to meet up with us.
Oh, hi guys.
You trying to ditch us or what?
No, no.
How'd you guys find me?
Went your house.
Your mom said you were
all the way out here with her.
Long drive.
Yeah.
Are you coming or not, Jake?
I gotta go with,
I told them I would already.
Listen, your dad will be here
in an hour and he'll take you.
It's okay, Jacob.
You don't have to explain anything.
It's your loss.
What's with
Squirrelly's necklace?
You wearing it to the party or something?
No.
Here, Shirlene.
Talk to you later, Jacob.
- Trust us, Jake.
- It's gonna be a great time.
- I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
How can I leave you there?
Jake?
What are you doing in there?
Peeky-boy.
Jakey-boy.
You're not so shook up about
the girl drowning, are you?
Who cares?
He's right, Squirrelly Shirlene
isn't worth all the fucks.
- She's worth more than you, assholes.
I want out.
I want out.
You hear me? I want out.
I don't care what happens to me.
Get me the fuck out.
Get me out.
This is the
empty eye socket within the skull
with its bony walls inside
and the rim of the bony orbit in front.
By gradually restoring the
outer portions of the skull
and also the covering tissues,
we can now realize the location
of the entire eye in relation
to the outline of the face.
It is also necessary
that both our eyes be
fixed upon the same point
in order that we may see an object clearly.
Thus, as an object
approaches us from a distance,
our eyeballs turn accordingly.
This movement is called the
convergence of visual axes.
This action is shown here
as the object approaches and recedes.
And now let us look at this
highly enlarged view of the lens itself.
It has a soft yielding body
and is as transparent as glass.
But it also has a firm ball
shaped central core or nucleus.
It is contained within a
thin elastic membrane
and is suspended all around
by a spoke like arrangement
of delicate threads or ligaments.
The lens itself lies between two liquids.
These liquids can exert pressure.
Now the lens as a whole cannot give way
against the equally non
inelastic aqueous humor
and its confining cornea.
So the only part which can possibly yield
to the pressure of the
vitreous humor or body
is the soft substance of the lens.
So whenever the image upon
the retina becomes blurred,
the brain automatically causes
the ciliary muscle to contract or to relax
until the lens has
attained just the right shape
to restore a sharply defined
image upon the retina.
Whenever demanded by conditions,
the lens acquires this peculiar
bulge called Lenticonus.
This cone-shaped curve
at first causes light rays
to become distorted into
aberrations upon the retina.
As a result of these distortions,
the pupil now contracts
until the diffused rays have
been shut away,
which brings about
harmonious internal adjustments
of all parts of the eye.
This adjustment is called accommodation.
- Jacob.
- Oh my God.
Shirlene.
Shirlene.
- As much of me as I can be.
- You're not just,
you're not just,
- A projection? No.
No. It's really me. I promise.
- Like how?
- You know how this place
makes all things living
deep inside of you physical,
makes them real.
When people know each other like we did,
we can't help but place
ourselves piece by piece
and to the other person's
subconscious wholly.
Who knows what we're going to do
before we even do it,
can tell us with a single feeling,
what's happening across the world,
what we'll do years down the road.
I'm like an echo that's
been traveling forward in time
and I finally caught up with you.
So for this moment, I'm real again.
Do you remember that time we snuck in
to see that movie in the bedroom?
- Yeah.
- We thought we were so grown up,
but it wasn't what we thought it would be.
It was messed up.
- We were supposed to see "Spy Kids."
God, I wish we'd see "Spy Kids"
'cause real life's too much like,
- Like in the bedroom?
- It doesn't have to be.
- Well, it was never
gonna be like "Spy Kids."
If we cut out the ugly stuff,
we cut out the pretty stuff too.
Hold my hand.
- What are you doing.
- Ripping myself from you
so you can finally leave me behind.
- No. Please don't.
That hurts too much.
- So stop fighting it and let go.
Jacob, let go.
- Jacob.
Yeah.
You won't be afraid to be afraid.
Who is this?
You aren't afraid?
You're right.
Of course not.
You won't let anything scare you.
Yeah. No shit.

You're trying to set me up.
That's right. And we both know how easy

Listen, as long as it's mind game,

Medicine.
Yeah.
As long as this fixes
me as fast as you say,
well, I'm ready for anything.
So you guys throw whatever you want at me.
No one is gonna throw
anything at you, Jacob,
or make anything happen.

Goodbye. Jesus Christ.
Okay.

Hey man, you all right?
Hey. Don't kill yourself.
It's well forced to know
that our eyes are one of
our greatest gifts of nature
and are indeed worthy of our
constant care and protection.
Dear friend I cannot help
but think of the old days
But it's getting pretty old
I wonder up to now
if that was a gold age
Or if that's just what
we've been through
Shoes and ladders take you down
To a land of smoking gears
Twists and turns spin you round
Spit me out but make it through
But I'll stay never getting it all
Tell me why
Tell me why
We can't step inside what will be
Don't you see
Can I try
Can I try
To get into that
Tell me why
Tell me why
We can't step inside what will be
Can we try
Can we try
To make life like a
photograph right now
I love, I tried to match
the style you remember
But I'm getting pretty old
Oh yet I'm sure you
kept the style that I got, no
Still beautiful and all
