The 7th Man (2025) Movie Script

(Fast intro music plays)
On the 26th of November 1983
six robbers broke into the Brink's-Mat
warehouse in London, intending
to steal one million pounds
in used Spanish pesetas.
Instead, they found three
tonnes of solid gold bars
outside the vault.
Most of this gold has never been recovered
and its fate has become
part of urban legend.
The same legend that says there was a
seventh gang member who escaped justice.
The myth surrounding the seventh
man continues to attract media interest,
including attention from
documentary filmmakers.
Introduce yourself. I'm
ex-detective Steve Adams.
Ex-detective. I recently
took early retirement.
Did you work on the Goodwin case?
The seventh man? Yes. Yes, I did.
Can you tell us about that?
Well, that's why I'm here.
Let's start with why he's
referred to as the seventh man.
In 1983, Goodwin was part of a gang
that stole 23 million in gold bars from the.
Brink's-Mat depot. I mean, everyone must
have heard about that. They've even made
films about it. At the time, the police
were searching for six robbers, not
seven. And Goodwin was the seventh. So, he
escaped justice. If taking
a share of 23 million pounds
and living the high life in Spain for
40 years qualifies as escaping justice,
then yeah, I'd say so. I'm sure that's
how he intended it to stay. Uh, but it
just didn't work out that way. Jim
Goodwin's life for the last 40 years had
been designed to keep him unnoticed and
under the radar. He had become adept at
hiding in plain sight. The only routine
he allowed himself was to rise late and
enjoy the sun.
Maybe he'd take a stroll down to
the old Spanish town he called home.
And every few weeks, he might make his
way to a particular favourite Spanish bar
where he would collect his English
newspapers. This was his life.
But things were going to change for
Goodwin. Before the day ended, he'd be
forced to come out of hiding, and
his life would never be the same again.
Mr. George! How are you? I'm
good, thanks. Nice to see you, Pedro.
You're welcome. Your usual table.
Thank you.
That's for you.
Uncle needs to speak to Auntie.
When was this?
Weeks ago.
Hello, Fox and Co.
Hello? Fox and Co, how can I help you?
Hello?
Clive?
Jim, it's you. I forgot
about this code thing.
I thought it was a sex pest.
Get that a lot, do you?
There must be a better way to do
this. You have heard of the internet?
Never mind that, bollocks.
I read your message.
Jesus, Jim, that was over a week ago.
And I'm calling. What's up?
I'm sorry to land this on you. But.
It's Danny.
Danny?
What about Danny?
Clive, tell me, for God's sake.
They think it was a
break-in that went wrong.
I put the message in the paper that day.
Is he hurt?
He's gone.
Your brother's dead. I'm sorry.
A break in?
Why would anyone want to kill Danny?
He wouldn't hurt a fly.
The police are all over it.
There's an autopsy.
Then when the body is released
your niece will announce
the funeral details.
Stacey? We both have to stay away from her.
We can't go anywhere near her.
Or the family.
Someone could use her to get to me.
Look relax. I've not been near her.
I'm following her on socials.
Socials?
The internet. Jim.
Please join us in the
new millennium, will you?
Jim?
Sorry, I didn't mean to.
Send her some money. (What?)
Make sure she's okay.
And she can give Danny a good send-off.
Well, maybe she just
needs her family around
her at the moment. And sending her money
may attract the sort of
attention you want to avoid.
Anyway, money can't fix everything.
Sort it, Clive. Just sort it.
Bloody hell.
For the amount of 25,000.
Please find attached a
cheque for the same amount.
Okay.
Leave it with me, I'll try
and think of something.
You know I always do.
Jim?
My pleasure entirely.
What Goodwin didn't realise at that
time was that while he had successfully
avoided interest from the police, there
were other parties interested in him.
And these were people that he
should potentially fear even more.
I have to go.
This is my work. (Work?)
I'm a treasure hunter.
You think I'm crazy, don't you?
There's treasure out there.
If you know where to find it.
Like the gold in the picture.
Yes. These guys.
They took that gold.
It was just lying there, and they took it.
I mean, who deserves
that type of luck?
And hardly any has been recovered.
But I'll find it.
Research.
That's the key.
I know more about those involved than
they know about themselves.
The man in the picture.
Is he...?
Dead!
More dead than he'll ever be.
About a month ago, I had a breakthrough.
The police and all these other so-called
experts, they've always said there was.
Six robbers. But I knew
there was a seventh.
And this is him.
Goodwin!
And he took that gold
and he just vanished.
Like a puff of smoke.
Just left his whole family.
Even his fiance.
Did you... kill him? (Try and keep up.)
He has a brother.
Danny.
But he's very cautious.
And if that doesn't pull him out
he has a niece, too.
And now we have a problem, don't we?
Such a shame.
I'm just a working girl.
I won't say nothing to no one.
No!
(Screams)
(A gunshot)
Double negatives freak me out.
Thank you. Bye.
(It was around that time)
(that I first became involved.)
(I was convinced that the murder)
(of the working girl and Danny Goodwin)
(were connected. But I had difficulty)
(convincing the powers that be, that this)
(should be our area of investigation.)
We found her body in his flat.
We've got witnesses who saw them
leaving the club together.
All I'm saying, Steve, is that we need
to keep all lines of inquiry open.
It's the same man. I know it.
Pedro?
Yes, Mr. George?
Have you got one of those computers?
(Yes). Can I borrow it? (Yes!)
I'm looking for... em... socials.
Twitter? Facebook?
Facebook?
Thank you.
"Funeral to take place on the"
24th of August at twelve noon.
God bless you, Danny boy.
Sorry, I can't be there.
"To be buried in the..."
"Family grave!"
Stacey, what are you doing to me!
(headlines: Gold Snatch)
Thank you all for coming, and I would
like to ask Deputy Assistant
Commissioner David Powis to outline our.
Investigation so far.
On the 26th of November at approximately
6:40 a.m., six armed robbers broke into
the Brink's-Mat warehouse at the Heathrow
International Trading Estate in London,
stealing 26 million pounds
worth of gold bullion.
We're appealing for information
relating to two vans used in that raid.
One was a Commer box van,
and the other a Ford Transit.
The number plates of one of the vans
were believed to contain the letters X KS.
Or YKS.
Pedro?
Have you got that item for me?
I think I need it sooner than I thought.
So, that was when
Goodwin returned to the U.K?
Yes. He was intent on recovering a portion
of gold that he'd buried in a family grave.
And he needed to do it before his brother
was buried.
He knew once the gold was found
the connection to him as the 7th man
would be complete, and it would just be
a matter of time before he was arrested.
But his problems were piling up.
He was unaware that someone from
his past had recognised him.
So, things were looking bleak for Goodwin
at that time.
(A knock at the door.)
Good morning. I am Father Doyle
from St. Michael's Church.
I've come to show my respects.
I'm doing the eulogy for your father.
Oh, okay. Come in.
I understand that your
father had a brother.
Right, yeah. Dad used to talk about.
An uncle of mine
who just vanished.
No one knows what happened to him.
Not even his girlfriend.
Girlfriend?
Yeah, Dad used to talk about Jenny.
She still lives in the same house
she lived in when she was young.
He used to talk about
it when we went past it.
Maybe, I could talk to her.
She may have some
stories about your father.
That will help me with the eulogy.
Oh, yeah. Let me get you the address.
Thank you.
Here's the address.
Tea or Coffee?
Tea, please.
Thank you.
(Milk and sugar?)
Just milk, please. I'm sweet enough.
I've just received an urgent message
from the Bishop, I need to tend to.
Can I get back to you about this?
You, wait here.
Mr Kahn, let me tell you a story.
I was in Benidorm two weeks ago in a bar.
This guy walked in. Didn't recognise him.
But he started talking to the barman.
Seems he was arranging some
dodgy passport in the name of Mr George.
And a flight home to the UK.
As he turned round
I thought I'd seen a ghost.
Somebody I hadn't seen for 40-odd years.
I didn't let him out of my sight.
I followed him back; Got the same flight
came to the airport, bold as brass,
pushed in front of a taxi queue.
And he was gone.
Whatever it is you're selling, Charlie.
Mr Khan ain't buying it.
This is bullshit, what about what you owe?
You got my money, Charlie.
I've got your money.
Don't you worry, Mr Khan.
And it ain't bullshit.
It was Jim Goodwin, I swear.
It might have been the tooth fairy
for all I know.
You're throwing around names
from the past like bleeding confetti.
I suppose Gandhi was in the next taxi.
Screw you. It was him, Jim Goodwin.
If it was. And I'm not saying it was, but
if it was, what's your point?
Information. What I know about him.
What information?
One of the biggest rogues from yesteryear
is on my patch. What's he going to do?
Back in the day, Jim Goodwin and his crew
used to run all the biggest jobs.
Back in the day!
So, he's an apex predator.
What's he going to do now?
Hear me out.
When Jim Goodwin used to have a drink
or two, he used to tell me all about
the jobs. They were pulling jobs so
fast, 'Old Bill' couldn't
keep up with them.
Then one night, they decided to raid
a warehouse at the airport.
Poured petrol over the guards. As you do.
And told them to open the vault.
Before they got to the point of no return
Jim Goodwin sees a tarpaulin and decides to
take a peek.
Brink's-Mat? Is that what you're on about?
Yes. Brink's, bloody Matt.
But everyone had
their collar felt for that.
Did they now?
So, you're saying.
Goodwin, is that right?
Right as sixpence.
And the best kept secret for years.
Until now, he hasn't
been seen for forty years.
So why ain't the old Bill all over this.
Goodwin fella then?
The way he's fuckin' talking he should be
number one on Interpol's most wanted list.
Well, that is the
one-hundred-million-dollar question.
The more cynical of us might say that he
knew exactly which wheels to grease.
However, as sure as eggs is eggs, he was
involved, and he got clean away.
But why come back?
Best guess, to pay his respects.
I hear that his brother got
butchered by some demented junkie.
So, what do you want from me?
Well, Mr Khan, if your boys can
help me get him somewhere quiet
I'll have a word.
So why do we need you now?
Why don't we just go
and talk to him ourselves?
Do you know where he's staying?
What he looks like?
No.
Oh, well, shit for brains. I do.
And once I get my hands on him.
He's going to be begging
to hand that gold over.
Are you out of your mind? Anyone
could have seen you come in.
No one saw me. It's amazing what
a strategically placed hat can do.
You and your hat should go.
Relax, it's a flying visit.
I bought a return ticket.
I've got some business to attend
to. Once that's done, I'll be long gone.
So what's this business then, Jim?
Revenge? (What?)
You'd do anything to get Danny's
crackhead killer, wouldn't you?
No, it ain't that. Would be nice, though.
I'm a solicitor, aiding and abetting a
criminal. Can you imagine the
size book they'd throw at me?
I don't hear you complaining
when I'm paying you your retainer.
Look, you don't have to worry.
Let the old bill deal with Daniel's killer.
Without my help.
Drink your coffee.
This is strictly business.
A quick in and out, if you
pardon the expression.
Alright, so, why are you
here? What do you want?
My holdall.
Why?
Protection. You've
still got it, haven't you?
Yeah, I've still got it.
Hardly going to dispose of
a bag full of guns and knives.
A grenade. Don't forget that.
You have a lock-up in Dorset Street.
I do?
Look, I've got a new number.
Thank you very much. I won't be calling.
Now go.
One more thing.
Do you ever hear from...
Oh, I knew it. I knew you'd do this.
You've lost the plot, haven't you?
Too many years in the sunshine.
That's what it is, eh?
What?
You were going to ask
about Jenny, weren't you?
I just wondered.
You just wondered about
the woman you jilted.
Well, she's doing fine, actually.
She's holding up really well.
She lives in the same house, and can
walk down the street with or without a hat.
Just leave her alone, will you?
Just do what you came to do
and go back to the sunshine.
I'll call you back.
I'm looking for a car for a few days.
Why come to me? I'm a mechanic.
You did time with some friends of mine.
You come highly recommended.
What are you going to use it for?
Okay, it's none of my business.
In fact, I don't want to know.
I haven't got anything here right now.
But, I tell you what, take mine.
I'm going away for a few days, and I
won't report it stolen until I get back.
It's the silver one over there.
There, that's our boy, in the hat.
He don't look so tough. Why don't
you go across there and tell him?
Anyway, I've done my bit.
The rest's up to you.
Where are you going?
The pub. I'd advise you to do the same.
Unless of course, you plan on snatching him
in broad daylight. On your own.
Because he's not the kind to go quiet.
Go on then, Fuck off.
Is there anything you want to ask me?
I can handle it from here.
Four. He's in room four. Might
help you when you get in there.
(You just wondered about the woman you
jilted. Well, she's doing fine, actually.)
(She's holding up really
well. She lives in the)
(same house, and she can walk down the)
(street with or without a hat.)
What are you doing here?
Bloody fool. Go!
Jen?
Oh, no!
Thank God for that.
Who are you? Are you watching me?
Alright, Jen?
Jesus, Christ.
Nah, it's Jim. You're looking good.
Alright, Boss.
We now know where Goodwin is staying.
And that Charlie Snow
has fucked off to the pub.
So what do you want me to do?
They do work.
Right.
Take this, go and get one of the boys.
And get Goodwin!
Don't expect any sympathy.
That's not what I'm after.
Just don't hit me again.
I won't if you behave.
Well, you know me, Jen.
I was sorry to hear
about Danny. (Yeah, well.)
You back for the funeral?
No, I just can't risk it.
Jen, I just want to say... I'm
sorry. Oh, save it. It is what it is.
If not for Danny, why have you come
back? And why have you come back here?
I just wanted to see you, that's
all. Not a day goes by that I... (No.)
Please. (What?)
You really do want one in
the other eye, don't you?
It would be worth it.
It can be arranged.
If that's the price of being able to say
what I've been rehearsing in
my head every day, so be it.
I'm getting older, Jen. Of
course, I regret the wasted years.
But I had to leave.
How have you wasted any years?
You've been living the high life.
It wasn't planned, none of it.
Since that day, I've been flying by the
seat of my pants. It would
have been no life for you.
Oh, I'm sorry. You actually
are looking for sympathy.
Leave it out, Jen.
When we hit that Brink's-Mat, there was
only supposed to be a million quid's worth
of used pesetas.
That's all?
For seven of us, less
expenses, a good payday.
But, when I pulled that tarpaulin off.
And there was thirty million
in solid gold right there
there was no going back.
I knew we were either
going to get nicked or killed.
Probably, by each other.
So, I took off.
You took off all right.
It was always my
intention that I'd send word.
And that we'd meet up somewhere, somehow.
Then I'd have second thoughts as I
could be putting you in harm's way.
I now know I should
have given you the choice.
Look, you don't have to
believe me, but it's true.
I had visions of us being together.
Somewhere nice. Maybe
by the sea or the mountains.
Oh, it sounds lovely. I could
wear a flower in my hair.
Yeah. Okay. It didn't happen.
Whenever I put down
roots, it was just a matter
of time before someone
started asking questions.
So, I'd move and try again.
And again, and again.
I sleep with a gun under my pillow.
I don't talk to anyone really, and
I don't want anyone talking to me.
If that's the high life,
I've been living it big time.
What about you anyway?
Me? What have I been doing?
How long have you got?
Are you married?
No. I live with someone.
Will he be coming...
No. He works away a lot.
He won't be back till the weekend.
Ready?
I can't see without 'em. Let's do this.
There's a bag under here, Johnny.
Is Goodwin in the fucking bag?
No.
Then leave the fucking bag where it is.
He's not here, Johnny.
Come on, let's go.
Now, I need to find a
way to make this work.
Who were you talking to?
Just the man in the mirror.
Did you ask him to change his ways?
I did, but he's a stubborn so-and-so.
True.
Jen, I've been thinking. You don't
feel bad about what we did, do you?
This guy you're living with,
does he treat you right?
Are you jealous?
Of course, I am.
It's not that sort of relationship.
He's about thirty years younger than me.
Bloody hell. That's what
I call stiff competition.
A toyboy!
Somehow, I don't think I'm his type.
I'm his landlady. I rent him a room, Jim.
That's all. And when I say type,
I mean, I'm not a guy.
Well, that's a relief.
What? That I'm still single?
No, that you're not a guy.
What if I could change?
What, you? Don't make me laugh.
You're dreaming again, Jim.
Like mountains and seasides.
Look, I'm serious.
Look. This was nice, but we both
know it was for old time's sake.
To exorcise a few ghosts. For both of us.
So, I'm a one-night stand now am I?
You're the one who's put his jacket
back on. So, what does that make me?
Ouch!
Look, I've got some business to attend to.
Oh, of course you do. Don't
tell me anymore, Jim. Just go.
That guy in the mirror was right.
(What?) Business will keep till tomorrow.
Pointless me going up half-cocked.
We did have some good
times, didn't we? Yes, we did.
Look, I better be on my way.
Jen, come with me.
What?
Come with me.
I've got some business to sort out.
Once that's done, I'll come back for you.
Oh, stop torturing yourself, Jim and me.
You know you won't come back.
This is as far as this dream goes.
At that time, even though I was convinced
there was a connection between the
murders, I wasn't sure what
that connection could be.
But we were digging.
The clues were there and
would eventually present themselves.
Plus, there was the Clive Fox incident.
The Clive Fox incident? Tell us about that.
Clive Fox had been Goodwin's solicitor
lifeline back to the UK for forty years.
Now the net that was closing on
Goodwin would soon catch Clive Fox as well.
Get Goodwin on the phone, now!
Thank God it's still here.
Johnny!
Yes, Boss.
Charlie Snow is watching the B and B,
since you and dopey bollocks fucked up.
He's just seen Goodwin go in.
Look, just don't go cocking it
up again, you fucking half-wits.
Take some extra guys with you
this time, and go and get Goodwin!
Yes, Boss. Right away.
Mac, stop playing that fucking machine.
Get some boys, and come with me.
Where we're going, Johnny!
We've got a situation.
The pair of you. One
job you had. That's all.
Anyway, he's in there
now, so get it right this time.
Clive?
(Mr Goodwin.) Where's Clive?
(Jim, I hope I can call you, Jim.) What
do you want? And why are you using
Clive's phone? You better not hurt him.
(We should meet. There's a cafe near...)
( This office. Do you know it?)
The thing is, I'm quite shy.
(A scream over the phone)
Okay. Let's meet. Just stop hurting Clive.
Fuck me, don't this guy ever keep
still. Let's see where he's going.
Come in.
Remember this?
We found it at Hardcastle's place.
What is it?
It's a micro form, similar to a
microfiche. Libraries use it to store...
Documents, newspapers.
It might have been there for
years. Well, except we found two
sets of prints on it. One
being the girl's, the other one...
We're still trying to get a match on.
What is actually on it?
Loads of newspaper articles from the
80s. It's going to take time to go through.
Pull all the resources you need. (Okay.)
(It's an honour.) Maybe I should
just put a bullet between your eyes.
And lose that low profile
you value so much?
I don't think so. In case
I've misread the situation
I should let you know I have a gun...
Aimed to your nuts.
What's this about?
Brink's-Mat...
Spare me the denials.
I'm not denying anything. You killed
Danny and now Clive, to get to me.
Why? For money? Is that it?
What if I said no?
We're negotiating.
What have I got to bargain with?
Let's see.
My research could find its way to the
police. That would make the seventh man.
No longer a rumour.
Making hiding more difficult.
What else?
Then, there's Jenny?
You'd make a lousy poker player, Goodwin.
Leave her out of this.
If that's what you want,
that's my counteroffer.
Anyway, your research is flawed.
There's none of the gold left.
You expect me to believe that?
Yes, we did take the gold. But
we didn't know what to do with it.
We knew it would attract crazy...
Crazy People. Present company included.
So we moved the money up the food chain
in exchange for a fraction of its value.
Ah, so you have millions in cash?
I've been living under the
radar having to pay scum like you.
This is not what I want to hear.
I've got some business to
attend to. Maybe then I can...
Arr. Business. There it is again.
What business would tempt you out
from under your rock?
Can I get a coffee, please?
Did you stash a little bit of
that gold for a rainy day, Jim?
You did, didn't you? That's
the reason you come home.
You stashed it right here. Oh, my God.
Look, give me twenty-four hours...
Keep your finger off that trigger.
Slowly, Jim.
Twenty-four hours.
And you stay here till I'm long gone.
(Well, then let's keep Jenny safe.)
Fucking keep him here.
Get in the fucking car, we're going.
Where's the other boys, Johnny?
Still inside. Dealing with our situation.
Booked in take him to cell three.
Back again?
I've just got the report back
from Soco. What's it say?
They flagged one article of interest.
About a court case following a robbery.
One local outfit was making a name
for themselves, hitting armoured cars.
The flying squad took them
out. And they all went to court.
Then their hotshot lawyer
pulls a technicality out of the bag.
The case collapses, and they all walk.
But this is all from the 80s...
Why is this an article of interest now?
One of the firm was named Goodwin.
Danny's older brother, Jim.
No way.
You haven't heard the best yet...
I've got the names checked through
PNC. The same crew, except for Goodwin
all had their collars felt less
than twelve months later.
What for?
Brink's-Mat!
Holy crap.
You're having a laugh.
(Phone rings)
Adams.
Uh, yes, he is.
Ross. Say that again, slowly.
That was it. That was the point
it all came together for us.
The spate of murders all linked back...
To the Brink's-Mat
robbery and to Jim Goodwin.
The seventh man. Now we were getting close
to catching him. It was
just a matter of time.
I don't like coincidences, Gov,
First Danny Goodwin. Then
the solicitor that got his mob off.
I don't think this is a coincidence. I
think this is the past playing catch-up.
He's been dead for three to five
hours, I would say. Death by gunshot.
The secretary found him
when she came back from break.
Fuck me, where's he going now?
(Music plays)
You're a hard man to pin down.
The man from the pub.
That's right. Mr Khan wants
you back at Stowhill Rooms, now.
What if I give you a bar of gold each?
And you turn a blind eye and let me go.
Why don't we... just take all the gold...
and bury you in this fucking cemetery?
And there it is. (There's what?)
Gold fever.
If I let you take the gold, by the end
of the day, one of you will kill the other.
Grenade!
Sam? Yeah, it's Jim. I
know it's been a while.
Mate, look. I need some
explosives. You got anything?
Today? What's the address? That's great.
See you soon. Cheers, mate.
You made it then? (Yeah, just about.)
You alone? (Bloody hope so.)
I don't want to be disturbed.
Give me more of the arse wiggle.
Have you got me that gear I need?
Yes.
Here, mate. You got any fucking change?
What you want?
Look, I'll keep in touch.
Speak to you later.
What's he forgot now?
What was Jim doing here?
Just called in to say hello, that's all.
Where's he gone?
I don't know, mate.
You're telling me, you
don't know where he's gone?
I don't know where he's
gone. If I knew, I would tell you.
You are no more use to me.
Look at the mess you've made on my jeans.
I've come to see your boss. We are
closed. Leave, or I will make you leave.
Who the hell? Stephan!
If you mean the big guy on the
door... He's having a nap right now.
You... get out.
So you're the mighty Sam Khan?
Goodwin?
Before they met their demise, your
boys told me you wanted to see me.
Stay calm. Don't... I'm calm. Then what?
I know the chances are I'm wasting my time
but I'm here to try an reason with you.
What's this?
Last time I looked about
a hundred grand in gold.
Mine? (Yes, if you're cool.)
That means no going after innocent
people Or sending anyone to hunt me down.
And no revenge from you or anyone else
for me blowing up your guys.
So it's true. There was a seventh man and
you're it. You got away with all the gold.
Do we have a deal?
There it is again. Gold fever.
You guys will never learn.
You're dead! I thought
you might feel like that.
Stay there, Johnny, don't you move.
Wow, wow, fucking wait, Goodwin.
We can do a deal.
Alright, alright, alright...
We can fucking do a deal. You'll
never see me again. I promise.
Don't do it.
Boss!
Goodwin. What you doing now? Get me out
of here. You don't need to do any of this.
I'm in a wheelchair. I can't go
anywhere. Just let me go. Goodwin!
Goodwin, don't!
What would have been enough?
Fucking anything's enough.
Goodwin! Help, help! Help, help!
Wait for the smoke to clear. Won't be long.
There are arms, legs, wheels, everywhere.
Update please, Sergeant?
Alright, Gov. Fire crew said, once
the smoke all goes we can go in.
Excellent.
The helicopter is following a Grey
vehicle, seen earlier at the cemetery.
Now that's where a man was seen
digging just before the explosion.
We're on our way there now,
so I'll meet you at the location.
Uniform and CSI can deal with this.
Come on, let's go.
(Doorbell rings)
I'll go, shall I? I bloody
do everything in this house.
I'm coming, already!
Who is it?
Jenny. At last.
Who the hell are you? I'm
an acquaintance of Jim's.
I haven't seen him for years.
Can I say, it was shocking
how he treated you.
Dropped you like a hot brick.
Once he had the gold.
What gold? And who's Jim?
Who's this?
I rent a room. Don't shoot me.
Sit!
Are you up to date with the rent?
What? (Is he?)
Yes.
Then we have no more use for you.
(Scream)
Calm down, calm down.
What the hell do you want?
Your ex, he double-crossed me.
What's that got to do with me?
It's got everything to do with you.
He cares for you.
Apparently, not enough
to give up any of his gold.
He's run for the hills again.
And I just want to give him a call.
So, he can listen to our little chat.
While he's on his way to whatever
God-forsaken hole he calls home.
Come on, Jim. Pick up.
Ah, Jim. (I hear you.) Guess where I am?
Say hello. (Jim?)
(Jenny.)
(Don't you hurt her.) Don't hurt
her? I hate to break it to you, Jim.
(Listen, I've got the gold.) (You
can have it. You can have it all.)
Let me guess. Just wait another
forty years for you to appear again.
(You won't have to wait that long.)
What's going on out there?
(Goodwin, put the gun down.)
Okay, just don't hurt Jenny.
Bastard.
(Megaphone) This is the police.
Come out with your hands on your head.
Jenny, grab your coat and follow me.
Just do exactly as I do.
That was when I first
came face-to-face with
Jim Goodwin. There he
was, right in front of me.
I could hardly believe my eyes.
What are you looking at?
This is Jim Goodwin. He's
Danny Goodwin's brother.
I've been staring at his mugshot
for the past few days. It's him, alright.
James Goodwin, you're under arrest.
You do not have to say anything but it may
harm your defence if you fail to mention
something that you rely on in court.
Anything you do say
may be given in evidence.
As the arresting officer,
I'll take it from here.
PC Harris, two deceased males. Okay,
continue your sweep, then secure the area.
Roger, over and out.
Ross, open the boot.
Where you taking us now?
That's none of your concern.
At least let Jenny go.
I'm not going anywhere without you.
For God's sake, Jen.
Shut it, Goodwin. We're
taking you to the station.
What's going on?
There's a train due in shortly.
Be on it.
And if I were you, I'd get
back to the hole you came from.
What about my gold?
Get out!
Stop! Stop right there.
I don't know what you're suggesting.
But that did not happen.
There was no gold in his car.
He somehow had a concealed weapon.
And he and Jenny, his
ex-fiance, both escaped.
There was no gold. We
need to make that clear
in this documentary.
But, Mr Adams,
These are the rumours that are circulating.
It's claimed that there
was gold in Goodwin's car.
And that you and your
colleague took that gold.
Are you denying that it happened?
We'd like to hear your side of the story.
But how could Goodwin
have concealed a weapon.
And overpowered two police officers?
He was in handcuffs, wasn't he?
No! No! Stop! I'm not having this.
It didn't happen like that.
And this interview is over.
You broadcast this, and you'll
be hearing from my lawyers.
This is over!
What the hell are you going
to do now? We're broke.
Well, I've got enough money to get us
to where we're going. (Where are we going?)
Scotland.
Scotland? Why Scotland?
Well, just before I went to Spain an uncle
of mine who lived in Scotland passed
away. So, I went to visit his grave.
We're going to Scotland.
Well, if he's passed away,
why are we going to Scotland?
Well, I'll tell you one thing. He's
buried in a lovely cemetery in Scotland.
Come on, let's get this train.
Thought you said there were two bodies?
Only two of the Brink's-Mat
robbers were ever convicted, and
the majority of gold, to this
day, has never been recovered.
The Brink's-Mat robbery caused Britain's
criminal underworld to turn on itself.
And since 1983, it is estimated that more
than twenty people with a connection
to the robbery or the gold
have met their demise.
