The Blackwell Ghost 4 (2020) Movie Script
1
Those of you
watching this documentary
know who I am.
I'm a regular person just like you
except I'm caught up in this
extremely weird phenomenon.
What started as an experiment
with my first documentary
has now progressed into a
life altering realization
that ghosts are real.
My life as I once knew
it has changed forever.
But still even with all the evidence
I've captured on camera,
I still don't expect
anybody to believe a word I'm saying.
I've given up on trying to convince people
that ghosts actually exist.
By now you either believe me or you don't.
But like I once said before,
I don't really care.
I only care now about what comes next.
And the path I think I'm supposed to take.
And as much as I really wanna quit,
something keeps me moving forward.
Hi baby.
Hi.
When Greg moved
out of the Blackwell house
he knew how fond I was of the house
and how upset I was when he let it go.
He offered me a number of gifts,
mainly the art on his walls.
I remember the painting over the mantle.
I took it hoping it would
somehow bring back a feeling
that I can't describe.
I hope I get it back.
Hello, you have
reached the automated directory
of Marion County Police Department.
If you know the extension
of the person you are trying to reach,
you may dial it at any time.
- Yeah, just so I understand
what it is you're asking.
- Is there, okay so here's the question.
Is it gonna be legal for me to show this
in this documentary or is this
some kinda piece of evidence
that's not supposed to be shared?
How many people
do you think'll see it?
- I mean the last few documentaries
have been seen over a few million times.
So at least a few million
people are gonna see it.
Wow.
So to bring
you guys up to speed,
after that night I left
the house, slept in my car.
I woke up, came back the next day
and saw the message on the ground.
I went back to Kentucky
to try to regroup myself.
I tried to find any
information about the case,
but for anyone who has
searched for Lightfoot online
can tell you there is absolutely nothing.
No mention of the murders,
no mention of anything
related to this case.
And to most this seems bizarre
because we live in a time where
everything is online, right?
But what people don't realize is that
there's estimated to be over
100,000 cold cases out there
with information that
simply doesn't exist.
And people have to realize
that this is either because
it was technically still an open case
or it just never gained
traction in the media.
In fact, through all my searching around
I was only ever able to
find one news article
related to this case.
Which was this one that
I found in a microfilm
in their local county library.
It was printed the day after
they found Sara Baker's body
on May 1st, 1972.
So considering there's no
information about this case
and I'm desperate for
anything at this point,
which means I only have one option
and that is to befriend the
cousin of the homeowner.
You know this guy.
My cousin is actually the top dog
down there at the local PD.
And he has already
provided some documentation
as to what actually happened out there.
- So that's exactly what I did.
I just appreciate you guys
being so cool with this.
I mean like if it wasn't for you guys
I wouldn't be able to do this documentary.
And that's the only reason I'm doing it
is because of what you
guys shared with me.
What is it exactly.
It's the letter
that was found with the body
at the crime scene.
- What's on it, what's it say?
You just have to see it.
- So for all of you who
are confused right now
here's what's going on:
You may remember in the last documentary
when I got this e-mail from the homeowner.
Looks like there were 18
murders related to the house
that the killer confessed
to in some type of note.
The only thing I couldn't
get was the note.
I don't know what that is.
Well it turns out neither did Rodger,
who never actually laid eyes on the note.
If he had he would've
realized it didn't confess
to the 18 murders, but
instead only confessed to one.
As you're about to see.
And when the officer I was talking to
finally sent the note to my inbox,
I could not believe what I was looking at.
On May 1st, 1973, the
body of James Lightfoot,
aka the Lightfoot killer, was
found dead at his property.
Authorities found his body
with a single gunshot to the head,
a 20 gauge shotgun lying
next to him on the floor
in what appeared to be death by suicide.
On the counter five feet from his body
laid a manila envelope
that contained this note:
What authorities initially
assumed to be a crossword puzzle
turned out to be something much more.
Buried the bottle with
my first kill, Susan.
Puzzle leads to her.
What was almost thrown away as trash
is now the only piece of
evidence which may or may not
lead to the location of
one of Lightfoot's victims.
So here's a question.
Is it cool if I distribute it online?
We have a social media page
for the documentary series
and I was hoping that maybe,
if I put a few thousand eyes on this thing
I might be able to have a
better chance of solving it,
if that makes sense.
Is that gonna be an issue?
I say go for it.
So on May 1st, 2019,
I posted the letter to
The Blackwell Ghost page.
The document went viral
through various forums
and before I knew it I
had hundreds of people
trying to help, trying numerous ciphers
and noticing the puzzle's
strange resemblance
to that of the Zodiac killer,
which also was never solved.
I looked at it for days and nights
and never made an inch of progress.
So I decided to focus on what I did know.
On a list of Lightfoot's
suspected 18 victims,
sat the name Susan Forester
whose body was never found.
I decided to start there.
Marker.
Kara, can I get you something to drink?
You want a water or anything
before we get started?
- How long is this gonna take?
Susan was my daughter
and I couldn't have asked
for a better daughter.
She always wanted to make
something with her life.
But she never got the chance.
Before she disappeared,
she'd had her 18th birthday.
She was just a kid.
The day that she went missing
she said she was going to
take the dog for a walk.
A few hours later I checked her room
to see if she'd gotten home.
That's when I knew something had happened.
The police weren't as concerned as I was.
But I knew something was wrong.
She never came back.
That was the last time I saw her.
That was the last time I saw my daughter.
That's my
wife, buying me alcohol,
and she's pregnant.
She can't drink any but she's good enough
to buy me alcohol.
I love you!
I'm sorry.
What did I just say?
What are you making?
- 15 bean soup.
- Why is the volume so...
- I'm gonna make it tomorrow
'cause I gotta soak the...
- Hello, check, say something.
- I've gotta soak the beans overnight.
'Cause I'm gonna make
it for dinner tomorrow.
- She's gotta soak the beans.
Oh I'm going to Florida on Monday.
Do you want me to buy anything
before I go down there?
- We need a glider for the nursery
and one of those toppers for the dresser
for the changing table.
- I don't know what that
is, but I'll find out.
Can you put it on your credit card
'cause I don't really
have any cash right now.
- Well maybe if you didn't
buy beer all the time
you'd have enough money.
- You know that's totally unfair.
I don't drink that much.
They're gonna think I'm an alcoholic.
Am I an alcoholic?
That is not funny.
I don't drink that much.
Do you think I drink a lot?
- Well...
- What is the?
So I'm packing up my car over here
as you can see I'm packing up for Monday.
I'm gonna leave out really early
'cause it's gonna take all
day to get down to Florida.
And the main reason I'm
going back down to Florida
is basically 'cause I wanna close this gap
of communication between
me and these ghosts.
Obviously it's hard
for them to communicate
or else they would just easily tell me
what it is they want me to do.
The way I see it is, if a
ghost doesn't have a voice
how can it speak?
So I'm giving it a voice with
this device that I built.
This is a common toy that
maybe you guys recognize.
So I've modified this a little bit
just to be a voice emulator.
So if you hit a key.
E.
- It will say that letter.
But it gets a little bit, you know,
ghosts don't have fingers.
So I was like, well what
could I do to this thing
to make it ghost friendly?
So that's where these
things come into play.
These are thermostatically
controlled switches.
Basically electronic thermometers.
And they're wired to this Lennox computer,
which is wired to this preamp,
which is then wired to every
individual key over here.
So if a temperature changes
on one of these switches
it will activate and then sound
off that correlating letter.
Let me demonstrate.
E.
- Very proud of that.
This thing took me forever to build.
It works.
Most of the time, I guess I'll say that.
I'm gonna continue to pack up my car
and get ready for this trip outta town.
It's gonna be a long day.
So I posted that puzzle
online a while back.
And still no one's been
able to figure it out.
One guy got really close.
I gotta give it credit to him.
I thought he had it cracked.
But it turns out he didn't.
It really got my hopes up.
So now I'm just heading down to Florida.
I'm almost to the house now.
And I'm just gonna turn
all my attention to there.
Maybe spend a few nights like before,
just see what happens.
Ain't much of a plan but
it's all I got at this point.
You know?
All right, we're getting close
because I see the railroad tracks.
So right down there is where they found,
just a few hundred yards down that way
is where they found Olivia Jones' body
on the old trestle bridge.
I'm not gonna go down there today
'cause it looks like it's about to rain.
And last time I's down there,
there was about 1,000 baby snakes.
So I'm just gonna keep
going if you don't mind.
And there are bugs all
over my (beeping) car.
I don't know what the
fuck these things are.
Crazy.
This is definitely familiar territory.
'Cause I haven't seen a car
for the past 10 minutes or so.
The feeling of seclusion
is starting to kick in.
I'll tell ya that.
So we're in the final stretch here.
I'm according to the GPS, two
miles away from the house.
Going down the dirt road.
And it got me thinking, you
know, of the 18 victims,
they only found three bodies.
Leaving 15 unrecovered.
And driving through this dense
forest down this dirt road
I can't help but think that maybe
considering that those three
bodies that they did find
were in such a close
proximity to the house,
that realistically I might be driving
past somebody's remains right now.
I take Lightfoot as kind of a lazy person.
So I don't think that he would
go too far out of his way
to get rid of these bodies.
There's the lighthouse.
Or whatever it is.
I really don't know if it's a lighthouse.
I don't know what it is, but it's there.
That's where they found
her body, right there.
There it is.
Oh god, I'm not happy to be back here.
Man.
I am not happy.
Oh god it's so scary.
You know I'm feeling something
I wasn't feeling just a second ago,
which is immediate regret.
Oh god, I don't like this at all.
Oh god!
Well.
Hello?
We're back.
Oh my gosh, I got so much (beeping).
I got all my equipment in here,
I'm gonna start setting up.
So I got a whole buncha stuff
that I'm gonna set up
in this house tonight.
And one room we didn't
investigate was this one last time
we were here, so we're gonna
set up some stuff in here.
Oh and I gotta show ya
some of the things I got.
I guess I'll do that right now.
So all this time off has given me a chance
so buy some new goodies.
So I brought a box full of
junk that I'm gonna set up.
I got chimes, some motion sensors
I'm gonna put in the back.
A radio, you know just some new toys.
If you can't figure this out by now,
the reason I'm so energetic
is 'cause I'm scared to death.
All right so we got
our motion sensor here.
This is what they look like.
Just a little motion sensor.
There.
There's that.
So I also go this radio.
I'm gonna set it back here in the bedroom.
I don't really know if anything's
gonna happen with this.
But I'm just gonna put it
right here on this stand
and I'm gonna turn it on
and I'm just gonna leave it.
Maybe I'll turn down the
squelch a little bit.
All right.
There we go.
That's good.
That's all set.
Block letters are set.
This is my little ghost whisperer machine.
Gotta hold the on button.
All right.
K.
S.
- That's pretty sensitive.
Nah, we'll leave it sensitive.
We're the most sensitive right now
in case the air conditioning
blows across one of these,
these little guys and sets it off.
And then I'll know that all I gotta do
is just dial this knob back.
So I think we're set.
Tapping the phone 'cause I anticipate
our phone call happening tonight.
Watch it not happen.
'Cause this is a bitch
to do, I'll tell ya that.
I hate tapping this (beeping) phone.
All right.
Check, check.
Good.
All right, we're tapped.
So I'm sitting here waiting
for the sun to go down.
'Cause that's usually when things happen.
I'm trying to provoke.
But anyway, I got curious
and I checked my bank account
that I've been spending out
of for these documentaries.
Well it happens to be that
that is a joint account
I have with my wife that we
have been putting money into
and saving for a vacation.
Well I checked that
account today and
all that money is gone.
Seven grand is gone.
And I couldn't believe it, personally
because I was like how
did I spend seven grand
on these documentaries?
But I spent it and it's gone
on airfare, gas, lodging.
You know a buncha miscellaneous stuff.
But anyway, I don't know
if it's the ghosts keep me up at night
or the fact that I gotta tell my wife
that I spent our vacation money
on this ghost documentary.
Yeah it's really not funny is it?
Oh I'm dead meat.
Coming up at six,
a million dollars owed to the
state in unpaid Sunpass tolls.
What they've done to collect it
and why some of that toll money
may never be picked up.
Right now an officer shoots a suspect.
What we are learning
about what led up to this.
Also this surveillance
video could be the clue
to finding what happened
to the parent of a missing three year old.
- Hello?
Hey, it's me.
You forgot to call.
- Dammit.
You scared the outta me, man.
Well I'm sorry.
Are you all right?
- What do you want?
Well you were supposed to call me
when you got down to Florida.
I called your cell phone
but you didn't answer it.
- Well, I totally forgot to call.
I'm sorry.
Man, you scared the
(beeping) outta me, Terri.
Is everything okay?
- Can I just, I'm fine.
I made it down here.
Can I call ya tomorrow?
Yeah, that's fine.
You sound really stressed out though.
- This place is okay during
the day, it's like bearable.
But during, you know when it gets dark
it starts to get a little scary.
Well you
brought this on yourself.
- I just took my blood
pressure, it was 190 over,
I don't know, no, no, no 160 over 95.
You need to really calm down.
- No.
I wish I could.
- Well did something
happen that scared you?
- I think most it's just my imagination
because sometimes I don't
hear anything at all
and then sometimes I do.
Hey, I gotta go.
- All right, well I love you.
- I gotta, okay.
I gotta go.
I'll call ya tomorrow, okay?
All right, well don't forget.
- Okay, bye.
- Bye.
God.
Ah, I don't know if I can stay here.
I don't think I can stay here.
I thought I could stay here three nights
but there's no way, man.
There's no (beeping) way.
Man.
I keep seeing my reflection.
It scares the (beeping) outta me.
Oh gosh.
I gotta take my blood pressure.
This is crazy.
Taking my blood pressure
because I've been having
high blood pressure
and I need to keep a check on this.
This is not healthy for somebody
who has high blood pressure.
Oh god.
This is the second time I'm
having to take this thing.
Oh shit.
You know I wish, I wish these things,
it'd be a whole lot less stressful
if these spirits or whatever could talk.
Because then they could just communicate
that much easier with me.
But then again, if I
heard a voice right now
I'd probably (beeping) my pants.
Oh god.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
170 over 100, great.
I guess I'm just gonna sit here.
Night one.
Check, check.
It's almost time.
All right.
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion
caused by the belief
that someone or something
is dangerous and likely to cause pain.
Whoever wrote that got it exactly right.
But it doesn't explain what gives us fear.
Fear is an instinctual defense mechanism
in our brains to prevent us
from doing something stupid.
We know that you don't touch a hot match
because you know you'll get burned.
The burn is what causes the fear.
So I asked myself why am
I so afraid of a house
that hasn't hurt me?
The answer is because of what
happened to me last night.
I realized I have no idea what I'm doing
and that I could be playing with fire.
So I'm heading back to the house now
after an interesting day of seeing where
some of these victims were buried.
It was weird to be so
close to 'em for once.
I felt kind of ashamed because I feel like
I'm in some way letting them down
because I feel like maybe
I could be doing better,
better at this.
It was actually weird to
see Lightfoot's grave.
I drove past the local
cemetery just on a whim
and sure enough I spotted him right away
because he's tucked in the
back corner by himself.
And no one's buried next to him.
Which I totally understand,
'cause I wouldn't wanna be
buried next to that guy either.
But you know the topic of discussion
that I'm kind of avoiding at the moment,
is what happened last night.
Some of the most epic stuff
I've caught on camera thus far.
And I don't really know
what to make of it.
I noticed that the curtain opened.
But then I had to go back
and review the footage
and that's when I saw the reflection.
So I remember at the Blackwell house
I thought I saw something
in the TV reflection once
but I didn't get it on camera
so I never mentioned it.
But now I'm starting to think
maybe there is something,
there's something more
to these reflections.
All right we are back to the house.
All right, we just made
it back to the house
and it's looks like it might rain.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
Oh my god, oh my god.
So the backdoor.
That's not how I left
the door this morning.
So the backdoor is wide open.
Oh my god.
There's nobody out here.
Hello?
Roger.
Hey Roger.
Roger?
Hello?
These cameras are off.
These cameras are off.
Oh my god.
And all these cameras are out.
This one's still rolling,
but it's on battery.
Oh yeah.
So I'm at the breaker panel right now.
And there are roughly
eight different circuits
individually broken.
So the main is still on,
you can probably still
hear the air conditioner.
But there are eight
individual circuits broken.
And those are mostly
power outlets and lights
throughout the house.
It looks like, yeah.
So this one's still rolling.
It's on battery.
But it got, it definitely
had to get the table.
I wonder if the other
cameras got anything.
So I just finished syncing
all the cameras together
to see what happened
while I was gone today.
I'm just gonna play it
so you guys can watch it.
And then I'll comment.
You don't really wanna
hear my voice anyway.
All right, I'm playing it.
So as you can see something
I'm familiar with,
this table, flipped.
And you know last time it did that
it spelled something for me.
And so I just recently
lifted the table off
to look at the letters
and unfortunately I didn't find
any words or messages for me in there.
So I'm kinda confused as to why
something would flip
it in the first place.
But you know there's
something else interesting
that happened while I was gone.
And I noticed it because
when I was looking at the,
you know when you have
your video in a timeline,
you have audio and it's a wave form,
it's a squiggly little line.
Well usually if no one's around talking,
the line is flat because no one's talking,
no one's making any noise.
But I noticed a little later
after the table flipped that
there was a squiggly line.
And so I fast forwarded to it
and I was like what was that.
And this is what happened.
Z-L-F-I-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- I watched that a few
times and I had to write out
all the letters.
And here they are.
As you can see there's, it's
just a buncha jumbled letters.
You got a word fit and cup,
which means absolutely nothing.
Which makes me think that's
it's possibly a glitch
in the computer of that
little thing that I built.
I don't know what I'm
gonna do with that thing.
I guess I'll turn down the sensitivity.
I spent so much time building that thing.
I'm not about to turn it off.
Regardless, I'm just showing
you what I got so far
and what happened while I was gone today.
As far as meaning and purpose,
I have no idea.
I wish they could just
tell me what they want.
I just wish they could just tell me.
I'm gonna cut all these cameras.
A-S-D.
- Oh yeah, that's sensitive.
All right, here we go.
So it was all the way to the right.
I'm gonna do a quarter turn.
And that should be good.
W.
- All right, that worked.
So I just turned it
down just a little bit.
We'll see if that fixed it.
Oh and I'm gonna reset the computer.
So I've noticed something
is that a lotta times
activity happens when I'm not here.
In the last documentary I took
my motorcycle out to the lake
to look at a light tower.
And when I came back the
light in the back room was on.
And I know I didn't leave that light on.
And this time, you know I come home
and I see this table flipped over.
That's the second time
It's the second time they
knew I would be coming back.
And I would see whatever
it was that they did.
It's kind of a polite way of doing it
because they move
all these things around
while I'm not here and to
spare me having a heart attack.
So I do appreciate that.
But at the same time, when I am here
they make all this racket back
and I have no idea what that is.
What is that?
What is that?
I still have yet to be able to pinpoint
what room that is coming from.
It must be coming from the trusses.
You know there's an attic,
like a crawl space attic up there.
I just can't figure it out.
But I don't like to put
my back to it either.
- The sun, the sun's still out.
So it's getting late here.
Heard some noise just a second ago
coming from the back there.
As usual I'm getting kinda used to it.
But anyway, the way I'm gonna
start treating this phone call
when it comes in late at night
is when it comes in, and it will,
'cause it's come in every
night I've been here.
I'm gonna answer it, but
I'm not gonna say anything.
A couple times I provoked 'em and had,
you know I've spoken.
But I don't think that
that's what I need to do.
I've thought about this.
I think I just need to listen.
You know the way I see it
is whatever's calling in so late at night
doesn't wanna hear me talk.
They have something to say.
At least that's my theory.
I mean who am I really, I don't know.
I hate looking down that hallway.
That hallway scares the poop outta me.
I'm gonna, I can't wait to get outta here.
I honestly think tonight's
gonna be my last night.
Don't tell anybody.
It gets worse and worse.
I just know tonight's gonna
be worse than last night.
In some way.
I give myself about a 50/50
chance of even sleeping here.
Last night I slept on the couch.
And my eyes were
open the entire time.
Z-L-F-I-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- They're exactly the same.
They're exactly the same.
So it's just after midnight and this toy
just spit out a whole buncha letters.
And I just listened to it on my phone,
the playback on that camera.
I can play back that camera
over there on my phone
and I just listened back to it.
And I wrote down all the letters,
and sure enough it's exactly the same
as what happened earlier today,
which tells me it's a glitch.
Has to be because it doesn't,
this doesn't say anything
but two little words, fit and cup,
which mean absolutely nothing.
And I built this thing
and I know,
I know how unreliable it is.
So.
You know what's really
sad is I built this thing
to highlight my intelligence.
It just makes me look
like a (beeping) idiot.
That's sad.
Well, so that sensitivity
is all the way down.
I'm gonna breathe on it.
See, it won't even.
Nothing's gonna trigger that.
What a let down.
This thing got my hopes up too
'cause I thought that
really was gonna work.
Just after midnight we got
about two hours and 40 minutes
until that phone's gonna ring.
Yeah I'm good.
I look forward to meeting you
and I'll see you at six.
Huh.
Hello.
Hello?
Z-L.
F-I.
T-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- Oh fuck.
Oh shit.
Oh my god.
Hello?
- Hey it's me.
Listen I need a favor from ya.
Okay.
- I need to buy you a
plane ticket, 1st class.
And I need you to come
down here to Florida
and stay with me in this house.
Okay, why do
you want me to do that?
- Something happened.
I'm too scared to stay here by myself now
and I think, I don't
wanna cut this trip short.
So I was just hoping
you could come down here
and stay with me.
I'll pick ya up from the airport,
I'll buy ya a 1st class ticket.
You can drink as many drinks as you want
in 1st class, by the way.
I'm pregnant, so I can't drink.
- That's right, you can't drink, sorry.
Will you just
do this for me, please?
Well obviously you forgot
that my sister's wedding is tomorrow.
And I'm not missing it.
- I forgot about that.
Can you make something up and just,
and just come down here instead.
You know I'm not
missing my sister's wedding.
If you were in the hospital or something
I would understand.
You know they're gonna ask
why you're not at the wedding.
- Well what are you gonna tell 'em?
What do you
think I'm gonna tell 'em?
I'm gonna tell 'em that
you'd rather be shooting
your ghost documentaries
than be at the wedding.
I'm sure they're really
gonna appreciate that too.
- Well I think they would
understand that, right?
I mean we talked about this.
I don't understand why you're so upset.
Really?
You just asked your
pregnant wife why I'm upset.
Okay, you're missing out
on my sister's wedding.
The doctor's shocked
that you're out of town
because I could go into labor any day now.
And by the way is there
anything you wanna tell me,
like maybe you neglected to tell me
that you should've mentioned
up until this point?
- All right, that was unfair.
That was unfair.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
- No, no.
- I'm sorry.
- No, listen to me.
- That was unfair.
I'm talking
about something else.
- I'm a jerk.
I'm talking about
something completely unrelated!
- Like what?
Anything you wanna tell me.
You know I checked our
vacation accounts yesterday.
There's $200 left.
Have you been spending our vacation money
on your documentary?
- Terri, I was gonna tell
you about that, I promise.
You know what,
you're being a bad husband!
- Terri.
Terri.
So I feel terrible right now
because my wife just
summed it up on the phone.
You know it really put
it into perspective.
My wife is pregnant, I'm down
here in Florida chasing ghosts
and I shouldn't be here.
I should be up there helping her out.
Because she could go into
labor, I guess any day now.
You know it's sad because up to this point
I really don't even know
if I have enough footage
to yield an entire documentary.
It's possible that no one ever sees
what I'm shooting in
these cameras right now.
But regardless of all the
hard work I put into this.
That's not what upsets me the most
that it may never get seen.
What bothers me the most is the fact
that I was secretly hoping the whole time
that these things in this
house would somehow tell me
what it is that they wanted.
Because all I wanted to do was help.
And I'm starting to question
if there's even a purpose
for me being here.
That's been the ongoing
question the whole time.
So I mean I've done everything I can.
I've been here multiple
times, I'm here now.
I don't know what else I can do.
But I've run outta time.
And I gotta go home.
You know I guess it's kinda
like what I once said before.
Life just doesn't always play out
like it does in the movies.
It's just sometimes I wish it really did.
Shortly after that phone call
I realized something terrible.
I was being a bad husband.
Something I promised
myself I would never be.
So I decided it was time
to cut my trip short
and go back home.
I spent the rest of the day
packing up all of my cameras
and putting things back the
way they were before I arrived.
However, I decided to wait until nightfall
before heading home
because there was still one
last thing I wanted to do.
Before I left I took a series
of high resolution photographs,
all of the reflections in the glass doors,
hoping that I might once
again be able to capture
whatever it was that I
saw the night before.
However, the next day when I got home,
I browsed the pictures and
was upset to find nothing.
That was until I came
across this photograph.
I didn't see it myself at first
and almost trashed it with the others
until I saw what appeared to be
a faint face staring back at me.
But don't worry, the
documentary doesn't end there.
While I was editing this documentary
I was having a very difficult
time coming up with an ending.
And without an ending what's the point?
So I began browsing old footage
from the previous documentary
in hopes of piecemealing
a generic ending together
so I could call it done.
And that's when I saw it.
Something hiding in plain
sight the entire time
that I never noticed before.
Something that would
help me connect the dots
and lead to an ending that
I could only dream for.
- This time I'm trying a new trick.
I got some little block letters here.
And what I'm gonna do is
I'm gonna dump 'em out
on this table here and you
know maybe something'll want
to spell something out.
I don't know, it's possible.
Something with a butt happened here.
Something with a butt.
Something butt.

Hello.
You have reached the automated directory
of Marion County Police Department.
If you know the extension
of the person you are trying to reach
you may dial it at any time.
- Hey Officer Ramey,
this is the guy that does
the ghost documentaries.
You got my number, gimme a call back.
I think I just solved your puzzle.
And you're not gonna believe it.
If you could say anything
to your daughter right now,
what would you say?
- I would say I love you
and I hope to see you again some day.
I only hope it was painless for her.
So if James
Lightfoot was here right now,
what would you say to him?
- I would tell him to rot in hell.
Those of you
watching this documentary
know who I am.
I'm a regular person just like you
except I'm caught up in this
extremely weird phenomenon.
What started as an experiment
with my first documentary
has now progressed into a
life altering realization
that ghosts are real.
My life as I once knew
it has changed forever.
But still even with all the evidence
I've captured on camera,
I still don't expect
anybody to believe a word I'm saying.
I've given up on trying to convince people
that ghosts actually exist.
By now you either believe me or you don't.
But like I once said before,
I don't really care.
I only care now about what comes next.
And the path I think I'm supposed to take.
And as much as I really wanna quit,
something keeps me moving forward.
Hi baby.
Hi.
When Greg moved
out of the Blackwell house
he knew how fond I was of the house
and how upset I was when he let it go.
He offered me a number of gifts,
mainly the art on his walls.
I remember the painting over the mantle.
I took it hoping it would
somehow bring back a feeling
that I can't describe.
I hope I get it back.
Hello, you have
reached the automated directory
of Marion County Police Department.
If you know the extension
of the person you are trying to reach,
you may dial it at any time.
- Yeah, just so I understand
what it is you're asking.
- Is there, okay so here's the question.
Is it gonna be legal for me to show this
in this documentary or is this
some kinda piece of evidence
that's not supposed to be shared?
How many people
do you think'll see it?
- I mean the last few documentaries
have been seen over a few million times.
So at least a few million
people are gonna see it.
Wow.
So to bring
you guys up to speed,
after that night I left
the house, slept in my car.
I woke up, came back the next day
and saw the message on the ground.
I went back to Kentucky
to try to regroup myself.
I tried to find any
information about the case,
but for anyone who has
searched for Lightfoot online
can tell you there is absolutely nothing.
No mention of the murders,
no mention of anything
related to this case.
And to most this seems bizarre
because we live in a time where
everything is online, right?
But what people don't realize is that
there's estimated to be over
100,000 cold cases out there
with information that
simply doesn't exist.
And people have to realize
that this is either because
it was technically still an open case
or it just never gained
traction in the media.
In fact, through all my searching around
I was only ever able to
find one news article
related to this case.
Which was this one that
I found in a microfilm
in their local county library.
It was printed the day after
they found Sara Baker's body
on May 1st, 1972.
So considering there's no
information about this case
and I'm desperate for
anything at this point,
which means I only have one option
and that is to befriend the
cousin of the homeowner.
You know this guy.
My cousin is actually the top dog
down there at the local PD.
And he has already
provided some documentation
as to what actually happened out there.
- So that's exactly what I did.
I just appreciate you guys
being so cool with this.
I mean like if it wasn't for you guys
I wouldn't be able to do this documentary.
And that's the only reason I'm doing it
is because of what you
guys shared with me.
What is it exactly.
It's the letter
that was found with the body
at the crime scene.
- What's on it, what's it say?
You just have to see it.
- So for all of you who
are confused right now
here's what's going on:
You may remember in the last documentary
when I got this e-mail from the homeowner.
Looks like there were 18
murders related to the house
that the killer confessed
to in some type of note.
The only thing I couldn't
get was the note.
I don't know what that is.
Well it turns out neither did Rodger,
who never actually laid eyes on the note.
If he had he would've
realized it didn't confess
to the 18 murders, but
instead only confessed to one.
As you're about to see.
And when the officer I was talking to
finally sent the note to my inbox,
I could not believe what I was looking at.
On May 1st, 1973, the
body of James Lightfoot,
aka the Lightfoot killer, was
found dead at his property.
Authorities found his body
with a single gunshot to the head,
a 20 gauge shotgun lying
next to him on the floor
in what appeared to be death by suicide.
On the counter five feet from his body
laid a manila envelope
that contained this note:
What authorities initially
assumed to be a crossword puzzle
turned out to be something much more.
Buried the bottle with
my first kill, Susan.
Puzzle leads to her.
What was almost thrown away as trash
is now the only piece of
evidence which may or may not
lead to the location of
one of Lightfoot's victims.
So here's a question.
Is it cool if I distribute it online?
We have a social media page
for the documentary series
and I was hoping that maybe,
if I put a few thousand eyes on this thing
I might be able to have a
better chance of solving it,
if that makes sense.
Is that gonna be an issue?
I say go for it.
So on May 1st, 2019,
I posted the letter to
The Blackwell Ghost page.
The document went viral
through various forums
and before I knew it I
had hundreds of people
trying to help, trying numerous ciphers
and noticing the puzzle's
strange resemblance
to that of the Zodiac killer,
which also was never solved.
I looked at it for days and nights
and never made an inch of progress.
So I decided to focus on what I did know.
On a list of Lightfoot's
suspected 18 victims,
sat the name Susan Forester
whose body was never found.
I decided to start there.
Marker.
Kara, can I get you something to drink?
You want a water or anything
before we get started?
- How long is this gonna take?
Susan was my daughter
and I couldn't have asked
for a better daughter.
She always wanted to make
something with her life.
But she never got the chance.
Before she disappeared,
she'd had her 18th birthday.
She was just a kid.
The day that she went missing
she said she was going to
take the dog for a walk.
A few hours later I checked her room
to see if she'd gotten home.
That's when I knew something had happened.
The police weren't as concerned as I was.
But I knew something was wrong.
She never came back.
That was the last time I saw her.
That was the last time I saw my daughter.
That's my
wife, buying me alcohol,
and she's pregnant.
She can't drink any but she's good enough
to buy me alcohol.
I love you!
I'm sorry.
What did I just say?
What are you making?
- 15 bean soup.
- Why is the volume so...
- I'm gonna make it tomorrow
'cause I gotta soak the...
- Hello, check, say something.
- I've gotta soak the beans overnight.
'Cause I'm gonna make
it for dinner tomorrow.
- She's gotta soak the beans.
Oh I'm going to Florida on Monday.
Do you want me to buy anything
before I go down there?
- We need a glider for the nursery
and one of those toppers for the dresser
for the changing table.
- I don't know what that
is, but I'll find out.
Can you put it on your credit card
'cause I don't really
have any cash right now.
- Well maybe if you didn't
buy beer all the time
you'd have enough money.
- You know that's totally unfair.
I don't drink that much.
They're gonna think I'm an alcoholic.
Am I an alcoholic?
That is not funny.
I don't drink that much.
Do you think I drink a lot?
- Well...
- What is the?
So I'm packing up my car over here
as you can see I'm packing up for Monday.
I'm gonna leave out really early
'cause it's gonna take all
day to get down to Florida.
And the main reason I'm
going back down to Florida
is basically 'cause I wanna close this gap
of communication between
me and these ghosts.
Obviously it's hard
for them to communicate
or else they would just easily tell me
what it is they want me to do.
The way I see it is, if a
ghost doesn't have a voice
how can it speak?
So I'm giving it a voice with
this device that I built.
This is a common toy that
maybe you guys recognize.
So I've modified this a little bit
just to be a voice emulator.
So if you hit a key.
E.
- It will say that letter.
But it gets a little bit, you know,
ghosts don't have fingers.
So I was like, well what
could I do to this thing
to make it ghost friendly?
So that's where these
things come into play.
These are thermostatically
controlled switches.
Basically electronic thermometers.
And they're wired to this Lennox computer,
which is wired to this preamp,
which is then wired to every
individual key over here.
So if a temperature changes
on one of these switches
it will activate and then sound
off that correlating letter.
Let me demonstrate.
E.
- Very proud of that.
This thing took me forever to build.
It works.
Most of the time, I guess I'll say that.
I'm gonna continue to pack up my car
and get ready for this trip outta town.
It's gonna be a long day.
So I posted that puzzle
online a while back.
And still no one's been
able to figure it out.
One guy got really close.
I gotta give it credit to him.
I thought he had it cracked.
But it turns out he didn't.
It really got my hopes up.
So now I'm just heading down to Florida.
I'm almost to the house now.
And I'm just gonna turn
all my attention to there.
Maybe spend a few nights like before,
just see what happens.
Ain't much of a plan but
it's all I got at this point.
You know?
All right, we're getting close
because I see the railroad tracks.
So right down there is where they found,
just a few hundred yards down that way
is where they found Olivia Jones' body
on the old trestle bridge.
I'm not gonna go down there today
'cause it looks like it's about to rain.
And last time I's down there,
there was about 1,000 baby snakes.
So I'm just gonna keep
going if you don't mind.
And there are bugs all
over my (beeping) car.
I don't know what the
fuck these things are.
Crazy.
This is definitely familiar territory.
'Cause I haven't seen a car
for the past 10 minutes or so.
The feeling of seclusion
is starting to kick in.
I'll tell ya that.
So we're in the final stretch here.
I'm according to the GPS, two
miles away from the house.
Going down the dirt road.
And it got me thinking, you
know, of the 18 victims,
they only found three bodies.
Leaving 15 unrecovered.
And driving through this dense
forest down this dirt road
I can't help but think that maybe
considering that those three
bodies that they did find
were in such a close
proximity to the house,
that realistically I might be driving
past somebody's remains right now.
I take Lightfoot as kind of a lazy person.
So I don't think that he would
go too far out of his way
to get rid of these bodies.
There's the lighthouse.
Or whatever it is.
I really don't know if it's a lighthouse.
I don't know what it is, but it's there.
That's where they found
her body, right there.
There it is.
Oh god, I'm not happy to be back here.
Man.
I am not happy.
Oh god it's so scary.
You know I'm feeling something
I wasn't feeling just a second ago,
which is immediate regret.
Oh god, I don't like this at all.
Oh god!
Well.
Hello?
We're back.
Oh my gosh, I got so much (beeping).
I got all my equipment in here,
I'm gonna start setting up.
So I got a whole buncha stuff
that I'm gonna set up
in this house tonight.
And one room we didn't
investigate was this one last time
we were here, so we're gonna
set up some stuff in here.
Oh and I gotta show ya
some of the things I got.
I guess I'll do that right now.
So all this time off has given me a chance
so buy some new goodies.
So I brought a box full of
junk that I'm gonna set up.
I got chimes, some motion sensors
I'm gonna put in the back.
A radio, you know just some new toys.
If you can't figure this out by now,
the reason I'm so energetic
is 'cause I'm scared to death.
All right so we got
our motion sensor here.
This is what they look like.
Just a little motion sensor.
There.
There's that.
So I also go this radio.
I'm gonna set it back here in the bedroom.
I don't really know if anything's
gonna happen with this.
But I'm just gonna put it
right here on this stand
and I'm gonna turn it on
and I'm just gonna leave it.
Maybe I'll turn down the
squelch a little bit.
All right.
There we go.
That's good.
That's all set.
Block letters are set.
This is my little ghost whisperer machine.
Gotta hold the on button.
All right.
K.
S.
- That's pretty sensitive.
Nah, we'll leave it sensitive.
We're the most sensitive right now
in case the air conditioning
blows across one of these,
these little guys and sets it off.
And then I'll know that all I gotta do
is just dial this knob back.
So I think we're set.
Tapping the phone 'cause I anticipate
our phone call happening tonight.
Watch it not happen.
'Cause this is a bitch
to do, I'll tell ya that.
I hate tapping this (beeping) phone.
All right.
Check, check.
Good.
All right, we're tapped.
So I'm sitting here waiting
for the sun to go down.
'Cause that's usually when things happen.
I'm trying to provoke.
But anyway, I got curious
and I checked my bank account
that I've been spending out
of for these documentaries.
Well it happens to be that
that is a joint account
I have with my wife that we
have been putting money into
and saving for a vacation.
Well I checked that
account today and
all that money is gone.
Seven grand is gone.
And I couldn't believe it, personally
because I was like how
did I spend seven grand
on these documentaries?
But I spent it and it's gone
on airfare, gas, lodging.
You know a buncha miscellaneous stuff.
But anyway, I don't know
if it's the ghosts keep me up at night
or the fact that I gotta tell my wife
that I spent our vacation money
on this ghost documentary.
Yeah it's really not funny is it?
Oh I'm dead meat.
Coming up at six,
a million dollars owed to the
state in unpaid Sunpass tolls.
What they've done to collect it
and why some of that toll money
may never be picked up.
Right now an officer shoots a suspect.
What we are learning
about what led up to this.
Also this surveillance
video could be the clue
to finding what happened
to the parent of a missing three year old.
- Hello?
Hey, it's me.
You forgot to call.
- Dammit.
You scared the outta me, man.
Well I'm sorry.
Are you all right?
- What do you want?
Well you were supposed to call me
when you got down to Florida.
I called your cell phone
but you didn't answer it.
- Well, I totally forgot to call.
I'm sorry.
Man, you scared the
(beeping) outta me, Terri.
Is everything okay?
- Can I just, I'm fine.
I made it down here.
Can I call ya tomorrow?
Yeah, that's fine.
You sound really stressed out though.
- This place is okay during
the day, it's like bearable.
But during, you know when it gets dark
it starts to get a little scary.
Well you
brought this on yourself.
- I just took my blood
pressure, it was 190 over,
I don't know, no, no, no 160 over 95.
You need to really calm down.
- No.
I wish I could.
- Well did something
happen that scared you?
- I think most it's just my imagination
because sometimes I don't
hear anything at all
and then sometimes I do.
Hey, I gotta go.
- All right, well I love you.
- I gotta, okay.
I gotta go.
I'll call ya tomorrow, okay?
All right, well don't forget.
- Okay, bye.
- Bye.
God.
Ah, I don't know if I can stay here.
I don't think I can stay here.
I thought I could stay here three nights
but there's no way, man.
There's no (beeping) way.
Man.
I keep seeing my reflection.
It scares the (beeping) outta me.
Oh gosh.
I gotta take my blood pressure.
This is crazy.
Taking my blood pressure
because I've been having
high blood pressure
and I need to keep a check on this.
This is not healthy for somebody
who has high blood pressure.
Oh god.
This is the second time I'm
having to take this thing.
Oh shit.
You know I wish, I wish these things,
it'd be a whole lot less stressful
if these spirits or whatever could talk.
Because then they could just communicate
that much easier with me.
But then again, if I
heard a voice right now
I'd probably (beeping) my pants.
Oh god.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
170 over 100, great.
I guess I'm just gonna sit here.
Night one.
Check, check.
It's almost time.
All right.
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion
caused by the belief
that someone or something
is dangerous and likely to cause pain.
Whoever wrote that got it exactly right.
But it doesn't explain what gives us fear.
Fear is an instinctual defense mechanism
in our brains to prevent us
from doing something stupid.
We know that you don't touch a hot match
because you know you'll get burned.
The burn is what causes the fear.
So I asked myself why am
I so afraid of a house
that hasn't hurt me?
The answer is because of what
happened to me last night.
I realized I have no idea what I'm doing
and that I could be playing with fire.
So I'm heading back to the house now
after an interesting day of seeing where
some of these victims were buried.
It was weird to be so
close to 'em for once.
I felt kind of ashamed because I feel like
I'm in some way letting them down
because I feel like maybe
I could be doing better,
better at this.
It was actually weird to
see Lightfoot's grave.
I drove past the local
cemetery just on a whim
and sure enough I spotted him right away
because he's tucked in the
back corner by himself.
And no one's buried next to him.
Which I totally understand,
'cause I wouldn't wanna be
buried next to that guy either.
But you know the topic of discussion
that I'm kind of avoiding at the moment,
is what happened last night.
Some of the most epic stuff
I've caught on camera thus far.
And I don't really know
what to make of it.
I noticed that the curtain opened.
But then I had to go back
and review the footage
and that's when I saw the reflection.
So I remember at the Blackwell house
I thought I saw something
in the TV reflection once
but I didn't get it on camera
so I never mentioned it.
But now I'm starting to think
maybe there is something,
there's something more
to these reflections.
All right we are back to the house.
All right, we just made
it back to the house
and it's looks like it might rain.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
Oh my god, oh my god.
So the backdoor.
That's not how I left
the door this morning.
So the backdoor is wide open.
Oh my god.
There's nobody out here.
Hello?
Roger.
Hey Roger.
Roger?
Hello?
These cameras are off.
These cameras are off.
Oh my god.
And all these cameras are out.
This one's still rolling,
but it's on battery.
Oh yeah.
So I'm at the breaker panel right now.
And there are roughly
eight different circuits
individually broken.
So the main is still on,
you can probably still
hear the air conditioner.
But there are eight
individual circuits broken.
And those are mostly
power outlets and lights
throughout the house.
It looks like, yeah.
So this one's still rolling.
It's on battery.
But it got, it definitely
had to get the table.
I wonder if the other
cameras got anything.
So I just finished syncing
all the cameras together
to see what happened
while I was gone today.
I'm just gonna play it
so you guys can watch it.
And then I'll comment.
You don't really wanna
hear my voice anyway.
All right, I'm playing it.
So as you can see something
I'm familiar with,
this table, flipped.
And you know last time it did that
it spelled something for me.
And so I just recently
lifted the table off
to look at the letters
and unfortunately I didn't find
any words or messages for me in there.
So I'm kinda confused as to why
something would flip
it in the first place.
But you know there's
something else interesting
that happened while I was gone.
And I noticed it because
when I was looking at the,
you know when you have
your video in a timeline,
you have audio and it's a wave form,
it's a squiggly little line.
Well usually if no one's around talking,
the line is flat because no one's talking,
no one's making any noise.
But I noticed a little later
after the table flipped that
there was a squiggly line.
And so I fast forwarded to it
and I was like what was that.
And this is what happened.
Z-L-F-I-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- I watched that a few
times and I had to write out
all the letters.
And here they are.
As you can see there's, it's
just a buncha jumbled letters.
You got a word fit and cup,
which means absolutely nothing.
Which makes me think that's
it's possibly a glitch
in the computer of that
little thing that I built.
I don't know what I'm
gonna do with that thing.
I guess I'll turn down the sensitivity.
I spent so much time building that thing.
I'm not about to turn it off.
Regardless, I'm just showing
you what I got so far
and what happened while I was gone today.
As far as meaning and purpose,
I have no idea.
I wish they could just
tell me what they want.
I just wish they could just tell me.
I'm gonna cut all these cameras.
A-S-D.
- Oh yeah, that's sensitive.
All right, here we go.
So it was all the way to the right.
I'm gonna do a quarter turn.
And that should be good.
W.
- All right, that worked.
So I just turned it
down just a little bit.
We'll see if that fixed it.
Oh and I'm gonna reset the computer.
So I've noticed something
is that a lotta times
activity happens when I'm not here.
In the last documentary I took
my motorcycle out to the lake
to look at a light tower.
And when I came back the
light in the back room was on.
And I know I didn't leave that light on.
And this time, you know I come home
and I see this table flipped over.
That's the second time
It's the second time they
knew I would be coming back.
And I would see whatever
it was that they did.
It's kind of a polite way of doing it
because they move
all these things around
while I'm not here and to
spare me having a heart attack.
So I do appreciate that.
But at the same time, when I am here
they make all this racket back
and I have no idea what that is.
What is that?
What is that?
I still have yet to be able to pinpoint
what room that is coming from.
It must be coming from the trusses.
You know there's an attic,
like a crawl space attic up there.
I just can't figure it out.
But I don't like to put
my back to it either.
- The sun, the sun's still out.
So it's getting late here.
Heard some noise just a second ago
coming from the back there.
As usual I'm getting kinda used to it.
But anyway, the way I'm gonna
start treating this phone call
when it comes in late at night
is when it comes in, and it will,
'cause it's come in every
night I've been here.
I'm gonna answer it, but
I'm not gonna say anything.
A couple times I provoked 'em and had,
you know I've spoken.
But I don't think that
that's what I need to do.
I've thought about this.
I think I just need to listen.
You know the way I see it
is whatever's calling in so late at night
doesn't wanna hear me talk.
They have something to say.
At least that's my theory.
I mean who am I really, I don't know.
I hate looking down that hallway.
That hallway scares the poop outta me.
I'm gonna, I can't wait to get outta here.
I honestly think tonight's
gonna be my last night.
Don't tell anybody.
It gets worse and worse.
I just know tonight's gonna
be worse than last night.
In some way.
I give myself about a 50/50
chance of even sleeping here.
Last night I slept on the couch.
And my eyes were
open the entire time.
Z-L-F-I-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- They're exactly the same.
They're exactly the same.
So it's just after midnight and this toy
just spit out a whole buncha letters.
And I just listened to it on my phone,
the playback on that camera.
I can play back that camera
over there on my phone
and I just listened back to it.
And I wrote down all the letters,
and sure enough it's exactly the same
as what happened earlier today,
which tells me it's a glitch.
Has to be because it doesn't,
this doesn't say anything
but two little words, fit and cup,
which mean absolutely nothing.
And I built this thing
and I know,
I know how unreliable it is.
So.
You know what's really
sad is I built this thing
to highlight my intelligence.
It just makes me look
like a (beeping) idiot.
That's sad.
Well, so that sensitivity
is all the way down.
I'm gonna breathe on it.
See, it won't even.
Nothing's gonna trigger that.
What a let down.
This thing got my hopes up too
'cause I thought that
really was gonna work.
Just after midnight we got
about two hours and 40 minutes
until that phone's gonna ring.
Yeah I'm good.
I look forward to meeting you
and I'll see you at six.
Huh.
Hello.
Hello?
Z-L.
F-I.
T-O-G-N-B-X-S-R
M-E-Q-V-A-C-U-P
D-H-J-Y-K-W.
- Oh fuck.
Oh shit.
Oh my god.
Hello?
- Hey it's me.
Listen I need a favor from ya.
Okay.
- I need to buy you a
plane ticket, 1st class.
And I need you to come
down here to Florida
and stay with me in this house.
Okay, why do
you want me to do that?
- Something happened.
I'm too scared to stay here by myself now
and I think, I don't
wanna cut this trip short.
So I was just hoping
you could come down here
and stay with me.
I'll pick ya up from the airport,
I'll buy ya a 1st class ticket.
You can drink as many drinks as you want
in 1st class, by the way.
I'm pregnant, so I can't drink.
- That's right, you can't drink, sorry.
Will you just
do this for me, please?
Well obviously you forgot
that my sister's wedding is tomorrow.
And I'm not missing it.
- I forgot about that.
Can you make something up and just,
and just come down here instead.
You know I'm not
missing my sister's wedding.
If you were in the hospital or something
I would understand.
You know they're gonna ask
why you're not at the wedding.
- Well what are you gonna tell 'em?
What do you
think I'm gonna tell 'em?
I'm gonna tell 'em that
you'd rather be shooting
your ghost documentaries
than be at the wedding.
I'm sure they're really
gonna appreciate that too.
- Well I think they would
understand that, right?
I mean we talked about this.
I don't understand why you're so upset.
Really?
You just asked your
pregnant wife why I'm upset.
Okay, you're missing out
on my sister's wedding.
The doctor's shocked
that you're out of town
because I could go into labor any day now.
And by the way is there
anything you wanna tell me,
like maybe you neglected to tell me
that you should've mentioned
up until this point?
- All right, that was unfair.
That was unfair.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
- No, no.
- I'm sorry.
- No, listen to me.
- That was unfair.
I'm talking
about something else.
- I'm a jerk.
I'm talking about
something completely unrelated!
- Like what?
Anything you wanna tell me.
You know I checked our
vacation accounts yesterday.
There's $200 left.
Have you been spending our vacation money
on your documentary?
- Terri, I was gonna tell
you about that, I promise.
You know what,
you're being a bad husband!
- Terri.
Terri.
So I feel terrible right now
because my wife just
summed it up on the phone.
You know it really put
it into perspective.
My wife is pregnant, I'm down
here in Florida chasing ghosts
and I shouldn't be here.
I should be up there helping her out.
Because she could go into
labor, I guess any day now.
You know it's sad because up to this point
I really don't even know
if I have enough footage
to yield an entire documentary.
It's possible that no one ever sees
what I'm shooting in
these cameras right now.
But regardless of all the
hard work I put into this.
That's not what upsets me the most
that it may never get seen.
What bothers me the most is the fact
that I was secretly hoping the whole time
that these things in this
house would somehow tell me
what it is that they wanted.
Because all I wanted to do was help.
And I'm starting to question
if there's even a purpose
for me being here.
That's been the ongoing
question the whole time.
So I mean I've done everything I can.
I've been here multiple
times, I'm here now.
I don't know what else I can do.
But I've run outta time.
And I gotta go home.
You know I guess it's kinda
like what I once said before.
Life just doesn't always play out
like it does in the movies.
It's just sometimes I wish it really did.
Shortly after that phone call
I realized something terrible.
I was being a bad husband.
Something I promised
myself I would never be.
So I decided it was time
to cut my trip short
and go back home.
I spent the rest of the day
packing up all of my cameras
and putting things back the
way they were before I arrived.
However, I decided to wait until nightfall
before heading home
because there was still one
last thing I wanted to do.
Before I left I took a series
of high resolution photographs,
all of the reflections in the glass doors,
hoping that I might once
again be able to capture
whatever it was that I
saw the night before.
However, the next day when I got home,
I browsed the pictures and
was upset to find nothing.
That was until I came
across this photograph.
I didn't see it myself at first
and almost trashed it with the others
until I saw what appeared to be
a faint face staring back at me.
But don't worry, the
documentary doesn't end there.
While I was editing this documentary
I was having a very difficult
time coming up with an ending.
And without an ending what's the point?
So I began browsing old footage
from the previous documentary
in hopes of piecemealing
a generic ending together
so I could call it done.
And that's when I saw it.
Something hiding in plain
sight the entire time
that I never noticed before.
Something that would
help me connect the dots
and lead to an ending that
I could only dream for.
- This time I'm trying a new trick.
I got some little block letters here.
And what I'm gonna do is
I'm gonna dump 'em out
on this table here and you
know maybe something'll want
to spell something out.
I don't know, it's possible.
Something with a butt happened here.
Something with a butt.
Something butt.

Hello.
You have reached the automated directory
of Marion County Police Department.
If you know the extension
of the person you are trying to reach
you may dial it at any time.
- Hey Officer Ramey,
this is the guy that does
the ghost documentaries.
You got my number, gimme a call back.
I think I just solved your puzzle.
And you're not gonna believe it.
If you could say anything
to your daughter right now,
what would you say?
- I would say I love you
and I hope to see you again some day.
I only hope it was painless for her.
So if James
Lightfoot was here right now,
what would you say to him?
- I would tell him to rot in hell.
