[MUSIC PLAYING]
(slow music)
Every fucking day for the past 10 years
I thought about this day.
I played it in my head over and over,
imagining what would be the first thing
I would do when I got out.
Like where would I go first?
Who was I gonna go see first?
Like where the fuck was I gonna live?
And where the fuck was I gonna work?
Getting money?
I never had a job in my life.
I never even got to finish high school.
No diploma.
Who the fuck's gonna hire me?
Just imagining shit like that every day.
Fill in my head with endless scenarios
of maybes and what ifs.
But in reality I had no fucking clue
how crazy life was about to get for me.
I mean it.
I had no fucking clue.
Out of all the crazy ideas I
would imagine for this day,
this one never crossed my mind.
Not even close.
I never saw it coming.
(upbeat music)
Is that who I think it is?
Enzs to the motherfucking G, baby.
What's up, Cuz?
What's up, Cuz?
Man, I thought you wouldn't touch down
for another couple weeks, what's up?
It's been a minute cuz for sure, man.
But no man, they let me
out due to overpopulation,
but fuck it, it is what it is, man.
I'm just excited to be out, man.
Hey, but what's you to
grandma's house, man?
Looks like a crack house
or a homeless shelter
or something like that.
Yeah, you cold, you cold.
On the real, I'm fixing it up a little bit.
That's why I moved back
around this bitch. Okay.
You know what I mean? Making more homey.
Matter of fact, around here, man,
we treat each other like family.
We ride together, we eat together,
shit, we die together.
If anybody got a fucking problem with that?
We'll Feed him to the motherfucking dogs.
Ah, man. Woo woo.
(laughing) What's up, man?
Man, this crazy motherfucker right here,
this my right hand man, Frankie.
This my cousin, Lorenzo,
the one I told you about.
Oh yeah, your the one that put that dude
down at the corner store, huh?
Yeah, bad ass, bro. Jeez, man.
Yeah, man.
Well, let me go ahead and introduce you
to the rest of the crew, man.
Sounds good, man.
(upbeat music)
Hey, man.
Go ahead and meet the
rest of the family, man.
This is Eli right here.
Smart motherfuckers, but
always doing dumb shit.
And this weird old
motherfucker, that's Kev, man.
Hey, meet Enzo.
What's up, Kev?
Appreciate you, man.
These two lovely ladies, that's Kim.
What's up, Kim?
And that's Vanessa.
Pleasure to meet you.
Bet it is. (laughs)
Shit, you already met Frankie, wild ass.
This is our little family.
Yeah, but on the streets,
they call us the kids.
Why the kids?
Shit, when we were younger,
we used to do stick ups
and drops for the block boys, man.
And it just kinda stuck with us till now.
Even though we grown, fuck it.
Shit, man, come here, bro.
Hey, man.
So I got a little simple
job for us to do tonight.
You know what I mean?
We gon' party, we gon'
get fucked up and celebrate.
Then we gon' go put some
money in them empty pockets.
You feel me?
Fuck it, man, I'm in.
Yeah.
What the fuck is this, man?
Yo.
Yo, who you is? Get on the ground, man!
(upbeat music) (men yelling)
Fuck are we doing here, cuz?
My first Day out and you got
me caught up in this bullshit

The fuck are we doing here?
Shut the fuck up and watch

(upbeat music)
Woo! I'll Fuckin' knock you out dawg!
Party time!
Let's go, bro!
Fuck outta here!
(chill music)
Let me holla at my primo, brother Yeah.
Look, man.
Some of the family ain't too excited
about what the fuck happened earlier.
About you bitching out.
I'ma be real with you.
But we all agreed, we all family.
I wanna see on your feet, Cuz.
Here goes your cut.
Let's count up this fucking paper.
Cuz is fucking home. Get your ass up.
So we gonna toast, get fucked up, party.
And we just made this paper.
Let's go. Fuck it, man.
(engine revving)
(knocking)
(Door screeching)
Should have known it be
you to mess up the lovely night
I was having.
So tell me what happened.
How many guys were there?
Man, I don't know shit.
I bumped my head and
y'all motherfuckers came.
Your neighbors said
they saw a bunch of guys
running out of your apartment on bikes.
Wait, did you say bikes?
Yeah.
One lady said it looked like some
grown-ass kids with their bikes.
You know what?
I think I know who we need to talk to.
(Laid back love music)
Hey man. I need you to be
on your A game with this one.
All right.
Skinny won't shut the fuck up.
He calling me, calling me.
You already know how the fuck he is.
Yeah.
I'll make sure he gets it, so
ride to his motherfucking spot.
Drop this off and get back.
All right. Hey man, get back.
I'm gonna get back.
You take care of this.
Hey motherfucker.
Yeah.
Come back.
(car engine revving)
(dog barking)
What's up, Cuz?
What's up, Cuz? Who's Skinny?
Shit, that's our guy.
We do jobs for him.
We've been know in for years.
We give him his cut and we get our cut.
But you asking too much
fucking questions, Cuz.
Enjoy yourself, man. You just got home.
You right, Cudd. You're right, Cuz.
Roll, some of that shit up.
You're right, FoSho.
Hey.
(car engine revving)
(dramatic music)
(tires screeching)
(crash)
(groaning)
(gun firing) (dramatic music)
I've gotta take care of a few things.
I'll meet up with you later.
Sure, no problem.
(dramatic music) (Rain)
(chattering) I told you
that shit was work in.
Fuck yeah.
You wanna be on your
motherfucking feet, right?
I told you. Fucking right.
Shit, man. You're trip pin.
What the fuck.
Awe, look who in the
motherfucking house, ya'll.
Fuck motherfucker here, man.
Fuck yeah. I'll see you.
Fitzgerald in the motherfucking house.
The fuck you about to say?
Look at this shit.
How could y'all be so fucking stupid?
This brixx job was sloppy.
First of all, no fucking masks.
What were y'all thinking?
It's just... The fucking neighbors
saw y'all running out of the
apartments with your guns
and then taking off on your fucking bikes.
(laughing)
This shit's out to keep us unseen. Yeah.
So do your fucking job.
Fuck that shit. You crazy motherfucker.
Bikes really? get a fucking car.
Fuck you. Get a fuck in job!
Move around, clown.
(car engine roaring)
What's up, Vanessa?
You always part of like that in there?
Yeah, I guess.
So what made you beat that guy to death
when you were younger?
Like what made you do it?
You don't have to answer
that if you don't want to.
See, the truth is,
my sister was beaten and left for dead.
Her neighbor saw my brother-in-law run out
covered in blood.
Cops couldn't even
fucking find him that night.
It was the next day
when I went to the store
to get some blunt wraps.
I saw him walk out of the
store with another girl in his arm,
smiling fucking ear to
ear, and I just lost it.
I fucking snapped and hit
him in his mouth and he fell,
and I should have stomped him out,
but instead I got in top and
I just kept fucking hitting him
and hitting him.
I felt his soul leave him under my fist.
I wanted to make sure
he would never do that shit
to anybody ever again.
And when I came to, I
was surrounded by cops
and they gave me 10 years for manslaughter.
You know what the fucked up thing is?
What's that?
My sister blames me for the whole thing.
Says I should have
minded my fucking business.
Ain't that some shit?
Wow.
That's some fucked up shit.
You remember him? (sirens blaring)
He looks familiar.
That's Frankie Diaz from Cleo
block, from back in the day.
I wonder what he's
doing on this side of town.
At this hour.
He shouldn't be here.
Are you okay?
Seem a little different.
You mean?
No, I'm good.
My stomach's acting up.
I'm good.
Probably something I
ate earlier, but I'm good.
Let's go.
(dramatic music)
Ooh.
Cool. How you go, bro?
Total's gonna be $6.50.
$6.50, you only gave me three.
Already licked it.
Bro, you still me from the last time.
Already licked it. Bro, you serious?
Get out of here, bro.
Hurry up, get out of here.
Dam man!
Hey, Marcus. awe.
Motherfucker, I've been
looking for your ass all day.
Where everybody at?
Fuck, I don't know.
Everyone was asleep
when I left this morning.
I went to my P.O.
She said she wasn't gonna piss test me,
but she already knew I was dirty.
Bro, I got lucky,
because I'm dirty than a motherfucker.
Bro, I'd have been in jail.
But you know what?
It's the second time she's done that to me.
I think she's trying to.
You a stupid motherfucker,
you know that, man?
Say, have you heard from Frankie?
I ain't talked to that
motherfucker since last night.
Nah, last I heard of him,
not since last night,
but I was at the house.
I was all fucked up, but
naw I didn't see him, why?
Man, he had Skinny's half of the money.
You were supposed to
go to him and drop it off
and be right back.
Motherfucker ain't been seen since.
Man, you know Frankie, bro.
He's probably all hugged up
with a skonka out right now.
All in love, bro.
But he's gonna come
through. He always do.
You right, you right.
That motherfucker stay
trying to get his dick wet.
But say, was Enzo awake this morning?
When you left?
He was gone by the time I left.
Bro, I seen him this
morning when I was leaving.
All he said was he had some shit to do.
Yeah.
I wonder where that motherfucker went.
It's all right.
How is it that you and Enzo are cousins
if you're black and he ain't, bro?
You a nosy motherfucker, you know that?
But let me tell you, his mom and my mom
are related, they sisters.
They got the same mom and dad.
Enzo, Tori, and we grew up like siblings.
Our grandma raised us,
you know, our abuela.
Hey, but for a little old
lady, she never took no shit.
Especially for me.
She had to stand up for me.
I was the only black kid in
this Mexican-ass neighborhood.
Now I see, it makes sense.
See, I was thinking
maybe y'all were friends
that grew up in the hood.
That said y'all were
cousins or possibly blood.
Oh man, we blood, for sure.
We was tight in the motherfucker
before his ass got locked up.
What's up with that ice, that cold?
Man, we did all that shit last night.
Plus Frankie ass the one that know
where to get that good good.
He still can't get a hold of his ass.
I don't know, bro, but
I need to pick me up.
That white we got last night,
ain't doing the shit for me.
I think that's the shit that's
basically putting me to bed.
It's probably because your ass do too much.
That's why.
Say, man, I'm gonna get
the fuck up out of here.
But if you see Frankie before I do,
tell him to meet me at the house.
Yeah, for sure.
What are we doing here at Skinny's spot?
I got a good feeling Skinny knows
he's behind the brixx robbery.
In fact, I think he's behind it.
(upbeat music)
Awe detectives. To what
do I own this pleasure?
Hmm, earlier today on
the west side of town,
there was a home invasion
robbery off of West Point.
Do you know anything about that?
Well, you know, that happens all the time,
especially on that side of the street.
Especially on that side, West Side, no?
Huh?
Yes, but that's not what bothers me.
What bothers me is that
we have reason to believe
that it was one of your
guys, at one of your spots.
Am I getting warm?
Detective, I have not
talked to Brixx in a while
and I have not no idea
what he's doing lately.
And I don't think I could
be of much help to you,
Pedo, I do need to cut this short
because I have a prior engagement
that I need to tend to at the moment, so.
I never said what I was
talking about, Skinny.
We'll finish this conversation later.
You could bet on that.
(dramatic music) (phone beeping)
(phone ringing)
Hold up. Yes, Marcos.
Hey, is everything cool?
I need you to come over now.
Have you talked to
Frankie? Did he show up?
No, Frankie never showed up.
What the fuck you talking about, man?
Just get the fuck on your bike
and get the fuck over here now.
All right, all right.
Hey, man, we gotta go
to Skinny's, man. Let's go.
Fuck this shit, let's go.
Hey, thanks for coming with me.
Yeah, of course, no problem.
Where are we going?
Where are you taking me?
Your stupid.
No, we're gonna go to,
this guy I used to hook
up with, I heard he's in jail
and he has the best ice in town.
So we're gonna go on
a little treasure hunt.
Oh, a treasure hunt?
Yeah. Fuck it, I'm in.
Plus, you know, I really
enjoy your company.
It's a lot better than a
lot of people at the house.
I mean, don't get me
wrong, they're good people,
but it's always good to get away sometimes.
Yeah, no, I understand.
I mean, gotta get away
from each other sometimes.
Come on. Heard that.
I know this one's always unlocked.
I got it.
Okay, I know where he has the stash.
I'm going to raid his
fridge, I'll be right back.
See what he's got.
Man, it's a fucking mess in here.
Ooh, shit, that ain't it.
That stuff's horrible.
Find anything yet?
I'll be right there.
Na, that ain't it.
Hey, yeah, I found it.
This must be his personal stash.
I think he got rid of all the other stuff.
Oh, okay. Come on, let's
go smoke this over here.
Jesus, it's a messy room.
Yeah, yeah.
Ugh.
You all right?
(somber music)
Man, I love this feeling.
It's almost better than having sex.
Huh, wouldn't know.
I had sex once, 10 years
ago, before I went to prison.
Can't remember what it feels like.
Really?
Not even in jail sex?
Fuck no.
I'd beat someone's ass.
Wasn't about that shit.
So you're like a virgin?
Fuck, I guess you say it like that.
So what's your story?
How'd you end up with
Marcus and the rest of the kids
at my grandma's house?
Well, I've only been there a couple months.
This guy I used to hook
up with, real good friends
with Marcus and Frankie.
Well, of course I only
go over there to get high,
but one day Marcus got into some shit.
He asked me to watch the house.
So I did.
And well, the guy that I hooked up with,
I guess he didn't like that.
Ended up bringing all my clothes and shit.
Threw him to me and told me, you know,
you fucking whore,
blah, blah, blah, whatever.
So I ended up telling Marcus about it.
And he said, man, fuck that pussy.
So I just had to stay here.
And that's how I became a kid.
That's crazy.
So how long you been using?
For a couple of years now.
I mean, I used to have a good job,
a car, apartment, everything,
but I lost it all.
Even the relationship with
my 18 year old daughter.
She wouldn't even speak to me.
She pretty much just disowned me.
Damn, that's hard to hear.
Skinny!
Where is my fucking money?
Frankie never showed up last night.
What's going on with your fucking boy?
I'm starting to think
he ran off with my cut.
Now after all this time,
we've been fucking
with you, putting in work.
You think we gonna rob you, man?
How can we make this
up, man? Let's make it right.
I am glad that you asked,
since I do have a job
for you boys and girls.
But this last time, the
take home is all mine.
And then we call it even.
What do you say?
Fuck it, man.
What is it?
What is it, man?
Let's talk.
(somber music)
(door slams)
Lorenzo?
Hey, sis.
I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I've missed you so much.
This took me some time to realize
you did what you did to protect me.
He tried to kill me,
and I didn't even realize it.
I was in denial bad.
But I've got help. I'm better now.
No, sis, it's my fault.
I understand.
It's because of my actions.
I didn't even get to see mom's funeral.
I didn't get to say goodbye.
I lost you and my best friend,
all because of my stupid shit I did.
But I'm different now.
I'm not the same little boy anymore.
I'm happy you're out.
You and Marcus are the
only ones that we have left.
Are you hungry?
You wanna eat?
No, sis, I do have somewhere I have to be.
But I'll come by sometime so we can talk.
I love you, sis.
I love you too, bro.
Be careful.
Be safe.
I will.
All right.
Aw, there's the detective dickhead.
Put this shit out.
Where's Marcus?
He ain't here.
Why, what's up?
Tell him we found
Frankie's body last night.
Looks like someone ran him over
and then shot him a couple times.
Do you all know anybody
that might've wanted Frankie dead?
No, everybody liked him.
Well, not everybody.
Yo, y'all sure we're in the right spot?
Yeah, man, Skinny told us.
Mookey the jeweler leaves here every night.
Same time, money and
jewelry in his fucking bag.
And no security.
Yeah, I don't see a
camera or nothing, man, so.
This shit should be easy, I'm telling you.
Well, let's hope so.
Wait for this bitch ass to come out,
then we're gonna rush him.
Simple, fuck it, let's get to it, got it.
Fuck you, motherfucker!
(dramatic music)
Marcus, that's you, is that you, Marcus?
You know this motherfucker?
Man, they used to call this motherfucker
Imani back in high school, cuz.
Marcus, let me go, I'll give you the money.
Ah, can't do this shit, cuz
I know this motherfucker.
You gotta fucking do it, man,
he's seen our face already, cuz.
You gotta do it.
Somebody do something,
it's taking way too long.
How the fuck you know we were coming?
It was skinny, it was skinny.
He told me to take care
of y'all, like He did Frankie.
Frank!, check the bag,
it's empty, just let me go.
Don't kill me!
This motherfucker is empty, yo!
Fuck, you motherfucker!
Come on!
(dramatic music)
Mm.
(laughs)
Unit 48 Please respond
to a silent alarm at 3030.
Ayers st. possible B and
E Please use caution, Fuck!
Unit 48 copy, go ahead
and show me in the route.
Son of a bitch.
(southern trap music)
Ooh.
Awe bitch.
(hip hop music)
Fuck!
Oh, shit.
Oh, fuck.
The fuck was that,
cuz? Shit got crazy, man.
Where's Kim at?
She's gone, man. Oh, shit.
She said she'll meet us at the house.
The fuck you shoot him for?
Fuck, man.
Man, that don't sound like a bad idea, man.
We need to split up too.
But get rid of your motherfucking piece,
I don't like it, man, I
don't think we should do it.
We got to. Fuck.
Alright man, I'll get rid of it.
All right.
(dramatic music)
Hey, freeze!
Fuck.
Police!, Fuck! Stop! Marcus.
Fuck!
Get the fuck off me
(grunting)
Get your hands up!
Stop resisting!
Give me your fucking hand!
Stop, stop moving! Give me your hands!
You're a bitch and a half.
With a motherfucking badge!
Shut up, fuck, stay right there!
Where my lite at, bitch?
Lite this up.
Stop right there, shut up!
Fuck! 1015, I got one custody?
Fuck!
Shut up!, screaming.
Fuck!
(sirens blaring) (dramatic music)
You know who this is, right?
That skinny's guy Mookie, the jeweler.
Yeah, but something doesn't make sense.
There has to be more people involved.
You think so?
But why?
What's the point?
What's going on?
And why Mookie?
Do you think they're all connected?
You know, the Brixx robbery.
Frankie's killing.
And now this?
Let's go through this pants,
let's see if we can find anything.
Check it out.
What does it say?
I told the kids, "Wait for
you at your store to rob you",
"but I want you to be ready.
"When you lock up, watch out for them.
"Kill em all, easy self-defense.
"They try to rob you and
you defended yourself."
"I already killed Frankie,"
"so with these others out the way,"
"would be the end of our problems."
"You do this for me."
"I'll give you 10 times
what I paid you last time."
Sounds like a confession to me.
(TV movie in the background)
(water splashing)
Carlos, stop.
(dramatic music and gunfire) Ricky!
No!
I'm not, I'm not.
Wait, I won't tell anybody I promise.
Shh, shh, just sit down.
(News intro music)
Good evening, everyone.
Thank you so much for
allowing us into your home.
I'm Alison Abrago.
We have breaking news to report tonight.
Corpus Christi police
are actively investigating
the city's latest homicide.
Last night, 38-year-old Imani Mookie diggs,
also known as Mookie the Jeweler,
was violently robbed and
shot multiple times in the alley
behind his jewelry store
on the city's south side.
The victim was pronounced
dead on the scene.
Today, police have confirmed
they have arrested a suspect.
This man, 32-year-old Marcus Jackson,
was caught fleeing the scene
moments after the murder.
Police have released this video,
what appears to show
Jackson at the murder scene.
Police are also searching
for this woman of interest
and this male suspect
seen here on this video,
also with Mr. Jackson.
The video was obtained
by surveillance footage
shot from a nearby apartment complex.
Let's go live right now to
our Channel 5 news reporter,
Katie Lawrence at the scene.
Katie, can you hear me?
I can hear you, Alison.
Hello, good evening, everyone.
I am standing here at last
night's gruesome murder
of Imani diggs, better
known as Mookie the Jeweler.
Police have been here all
night talking to residents
at this apartment complex
behind me and gathering evidence.
It was announced by the
Corpus Christi Police Department
that they do have a suspect in custody.
That suspect is 32-year-old Marcus Jackson.
Jackson is a long-time career criminal
with multiple arrests and charges pending.
Police do have a surveillance video
that not only shows Marcus
Jackson here at the scene,
but two other suspects,
one female and one male.
Police have asked if
you have any information
regarding this case to please contact.
Crime Watch Hotline.
I'm Katie Lawrence,
reporting for Channel 5 News.
Thank you, Katie.
The city has experienced
a massive crime wave
this past week, with the home invasion
of a known drug dealer
on the city's west side
to the shooting death of
35-year-old Frankie Diaz
in a rash of other crimes.
Police Chief Mauricio today has confirmed
that they do believe these
crimes might be connected,
but cannot confirm or comment any further
on this active investigation.
We will keep you updated on this story
as we get more information.
(somber music)
Yo, where everyone at?
Vanessa?
Where are y'all? We're
over here in the bedroom.
The cops got Marcus. What happened?
It was after the Mookie job.
Kim went one way, we
went another, we all split up.
As soon as he hit the
corner, the cops got him.
Shit, we're all lucky to be here.
Detective Fitzgerald came by earlier,
said that they found
Frankie, ran over and shot.
What the fuck?
Fuck!
We know who fucking did it too.
It was that pussy skinny.
He had to set us up for
that fucking Mookie job.
He knew who was coming.
Fuck that, tonight we
get revenge for Frankie
and we show him he can't fuck with us.
He's a dead motherfucker
now. Fucking right he is.
Let's go get his ass. Hold up, Kev.
I think you're a Vanessa show right here.
I wanna go too, bro. Not this time, man.
Fuck.
Enzo?
Yeah.
Come back, be careful.
We will.
( Rap music )
Come on!
Ronald McDonald
motherfucker... Hey, watch out!
Don't fucking drop it on your fuckin' head!
Hey, let's sweep the whole thing.
Stop!, right there. Okay. Okay. Come on.
Oh, no, I think we were
gonna kind of put it over there.
Oh, fuck. What? You
look surprised to see us.
Actually, no, I'm not surprised to
see you and the rest of the kids.
You really thought you'd take us out?
No. You fucked up,
skinny. You really fucked up.
Enzo, I put fucking money in
your pocket, food on the table.
I put fucking blow in your fucking
pipes. You motherfuckers need me.
Oh, okay. Oh, we got
ourselves a stand-off now, huh?
Police! Weapons down!
All right, everybody just keep calm.
We're here for skinny.
Skinny, you're under
arrest for the murder of
Frankie Diaz on three
counts of attempted murder.
Fitzgerald, what the fuck is this shit?
Take care of this shit now!
It's not personal. It's just business.
(Gunfire erupts)
(I can't let you get up!)
Get the fuck out of here! I never
want to see you again! Get out of town!
RUN!
(Cheerful chatter)
Right there. Pull pressure.
Alright, key pressure on that.
We need to get an IV established.
Let's go ahead and
get our first set of vitals.
Alright, any response
from this side of him?
No.
Hey, bud, can you hear me?
He's still alive at this point.
His breasts are picking up really bad.
I'm gonna need to do a finger thoracostomy.
Bring your hands right over here.
I'm gonna push my finger
in through and pressure.
ENZO!
