The Lost Mantle of Elijah (2013) Movie Script
(fanfare music)
(fanfare music)
[Narrator] You have not come
to a mountain that is burning with fire.
To such a voice speaking words,
that those who heard it,
begged that no further
word be spoken to them.
But you have come to Mount Zion,
to the city of the Living God,
You have come to God.
To Jesus the mediator of a New Covenant.
[God] Elijah, Elijah,
What are you doing here
Elijah? (horse gallops and whoosh)
[Elijah] I have been
very jealous for you Lord.
For your people of Israel
(horse gallops and whoosh)
have forsaken your Covenant,
Thrown down your altars,
Slain your prophets with the sword,
And I, even I only am left,
and they seek my life to take it away.
(chariot and horses galloping)
[God] Elijah when my
people turned away from me,
they broke my heart.
I have decided to send
them my Son, the King
disguised as a Soothsayer
(horse gallops and whoosh)
in the hope my people will turn
to Him. (horse gallops and whoosh)
(chariot and horses galloping)
Although they may kill him
under orders from the man named Pilate,
My dear Son's death will become a sacrifice
atoning for my people turning from me.
But I will raise my Son from the
dead (horse gallops and whoosh)
on the third day.
And those believing in Him
shall receive from me,
Eternal life and miraculous
power (horse neighs)
once used with your cloak, The Mantle.
(horse gallops and whoosh)
[Elijah] Oh Lord, God of
Abraham, Isaac and Israel,
If your Son the Soothsayer
must die for your people,
Let it be by my hand,
(horse galloping whoosh)
which killed the prophets of Baal
at the Brook Kishon. (waves splashing)
May it be known
by my killing your Son,
that I, Elijah,
your servant,
carry out your will, (body thud)
to turn your people's hearts back to you.
(dark music)
(chariot and horses galloping)
So I shall change my name to Pilate.
I shall remove my other self,
my conscience from me
and call it the name 'Sphinx'.
(fanfare music)
Then with a clear conscience,
I will sacrifice your Son.
After your Son rises again,
I will merge with my other self,
the Sphinx, (ascending music)
and work miracles again
with The Mantle of Elijah.
I Elijah shall be both Pilate
and the Sphinx.
(string music)
(horses galloping and whoosh)
[Soothsayer] For thousands of years,
Elijah's Mantle was lost.
He used it to work miracles
on God's behalf.
[Gruesome] The prophet who does not die
shall return to reclaim
his Mantle, (thunder crack)
it's in the Prophecy.
(thunder crack) (horse neighs)
(title music)
[Meguine] That cloak might prove useful.
Could this be the very cloak of miracles?
[Baxter] Things couldn't be going well
if I was seeking the advice of
a Mermaid Siren, called Mersin.
She was known to lure sailors
like me and their ships, to their deaths
in heeding her song.
Maybe I was going to join them.
I had half given up hope
of finding Mersin
to guide me how to use the Black Book
which damns souls.
I had acquired it from Malleck
at the Black Church.
Mersin must have cast a spell on me,
As I awoke in a strange place.
(wind whispering)
Every man who goes to sea,
knows the old stories
like Elijah and his miracle working cloak.
Or his apprentice Elijah
with the Sacred Arrows.
(wind whispering)
The stories say Elijah never died
but went to heaven
in a Chariot of Fire.
I wish he'd died.
(string music)
'Cause now,
thousands of years after they say
he was taken to heaven,
Elijah is back down here
as a pirate called Pilate,
(ship creaking water splashing)
and he's not happy.
Pilate's brother
Malleck has some part of Elijah trapped
back there in the Black Church.
Wouldn't have seen it
if Pilate hadn't hijacked my ship
and sent me there.
I got some Black Book
But my men betrayed me,
stole it
and left me here to drown
at the whirlpool of Absalom.
Hmm,
This business isn't what it used to be.
Hmm, my men
Gruesome and Unshar.
(orchestral music)
(Lightning explodes)
[Unshar] We still have time
to return the Black Book to Malleck
and escape the curse
that destroyed the crew of our old ship.
[Gruesome] I don't think so.
We're being followed.
[Unshar] What?
[Gruesome] Well you
were sleeping off the rum,
a darkness swallowed the Earth,
just as the man that Pilate killed died.
In an hour or so,
whoever's name is in that Black Book,
Shall be owned by Malleck.
[Unshar] I'm not easily scared
even if they trade my soul
for gold.
[Gruesome] Lead, Unshar.
Your name is in that Book, Unshar.
[Unshar] You promised
we'd be rich Gruesome.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum,
Grissum and I won't tell you again!
[Unshar] I can think of
many names to call you.
[Gruesome] Yes, but if
we take that Black Book
hmm, right, back to Malleck,
we will lead whoever is following us
to the Black Church!
[Unshar] At least Baxter couldn't escape
the whirlpool of Absolom.
[Gruesome] I wouldn't bet on that
[Unshar] When he ordered us
not to seek the Sacred Arrows
it was obvious that we would.
[Gruesome] Yes but we failed.
[Unshar] But we got
this Black Book instead.
[Gruesome] Yes, but it says
that the prophet who does not die
shall return to reclaim his Mantle,
It's in the prophecy!
[Unshar] Come on, no one believes that
he went up to heaven on a Chariot of Fire,
he'd be powerless without
his Mantle of miracles.
[Gruesome] That is why
Malleck left us a backup plan,
Right?, in case his brother got the Book.
[Unshar] Huh,
I never thought I'd see the day
when you'd finally blow yourself to hell!
[Gruesome] Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Yes, yes.
But your name is on this as well brother.
[Unshar] Ha ha, ha?
(dark music)
[Elijah as Pilate] You've lost Baxter.
[Narrator Baxter] Hmmm,
Rescued by Pilate.
[Baxter] You've lost your mind Pilate.
(water drops)
[Pilate] Heart not in your work anymore?
[Baxter] I don't work
for pirates anymore.
[Pilate] Even when you're not,
your plunder has the
habit of becoming mine.
[Baxter] You should
kill me while you still can.
[Pilate] Unfortunately those I kill
don't remain dead.
[Baxter] Look at who's working for you.
[Pilate] But you'll change that.
[Baxter] Whatever it is you're after,
I don't have it.
[Pilate] You have the Black Book no?,
which makes certain
all the dead are damned forever.
[Baxter] So that's why you're looking
for literate men!
Uh! (stomach punch)
[Baxter] Losing your touch Porthole!
Huh. (stomach kick)
[Portould] You illegitimate Baxter.
[Pilate] Tragedy,
helps men recognise Gods.
If you won't get us
The Arrows
from the Black Church
we'll damn your soul.
The Black Book's power
[Baxter] to damn souls
has never been tried.
[Portould] Cursed if you do,
Damned if you don't.
[Baxter] I believe in one person,
Me.
[Portould] Huh!,
Then you believe in a dead man.
It's a shame you don't
believe in the miracle
you need to save your own ship.
[Baxter] I'm the only
survivor from the Black Church
Who else is going to
persuade your brother there
to surrender the Sacred Arrows to you?
[Pilate] Anfisa,
since she sold us her soul
believing it would prevent us taking yours.
[Baxter] She has no part in this.
Anfisa owes no debt to you.
[Pilate] Wrong again Baxter,
and we don't let our debtors die.
[Portould] Until they've paid in full,
then Anfisa's son
must be sent to get the Sacred Arrows.
(rising string music)
[Kai] (breathing)
(rain pattering)
[Kai] You said you'd
answer when I called.
Speak,
I'm listening.
[Narrator Baxter] A man
might believe in this soothsayer,
this Son of God,
if it wasn't for his followers.
They say anyone who doesn't believe
the soothsayer
will rise again to give them eternal life
is a slave,
and a sinner like me.
I'd rather take my
chances believing in myself.
[Son of God as a Soothsayer] How
can you find that which you have not seen,
if you don't know what you're looking for?
[Kai] When my mother is
out of debt to Pilate, I'll know.
[Soothsayer] And if they should
take the cloak from her very back?
[Kai] What is it?
[Soothsayer] A cloak.
[Kai] One step closer and I'll use it.
[Soothsayer] Killing a
spirit is hardly a victory.
[Soothsayer] For thousands
of years, Elijah's Mantle was lost,
He used it to work
miracles on God's behalf.
[Kai] Who is Elijah?
[Soothsayer] A prophet who no
longer recognizes me, or this Mantle.
[Kai] Will this Mantle
pay my mother's debt?
[Soothsayer] Perhaps if
you can do something for me,
All your debts will be paid.
[Kai] Do what?
[Soothsayer] Ensure the Sacred
Arrows do not fall into Pilate's hands.
[Kai] Sacred Arrows?
You're making this up.
[Soothsayer] You're
free to refuse to do this.
[Kai] A magic Mantle,
Sacred Arrows.
An errand from a crazy spirit
can you blame me?
[Soothsayer] Only
when your refusal to do so,
endangers yourself and those you love.
[Kai] So, I'm the
answer to my own prayers.
Great.
[Unshar] I will lead you to
the Sacred Arrows and Malleck
on your word, I'll have safe passage.
[Pilate] You're betrayed Baxter.
Your ship is taken and
Anfisa is as good as damned.
We no longer need you.
[Baxter] We agree on something.
[Pilate] Why should I trust you?
[Unshar] Because the
bomb aboard this ship,
Will detonate if you don't.
[Pilate] Before it does,
we'll damn your soul
with this Black Book you bought us.
Portould.
[Unshar] I may not have a soul Pilate,
but I still have a fist.
Agh! (fist punch)
[Baxter] You'll need more than a fist
when I get out of these chains.
[Pilate] Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Now Baxter are you motivated again?
[Portould] I found
this addressed to Malleck
confirming your death Pilate,
and persuading him to forfeit the Arrows.
[Pilate] My brother wants me dead.
Hmm, you will take this note to Malleck.
Disguised as poor dead Unshar.
[Baxter] Since you've
started stealing souls
with Malleck's book
I'll take no part in this.
[Pilate] You're lack of
faith in us is no surprise.
[Portould] Then you'll
be damned like Unshar.
[Pilate] Thanks for your ship Baxter.
[Portould] Anfisa's boy Kai,
will lead us to the Black Church.
[Baxter] Pilate only released you
so the King would die
in your place, Portould.
[Portould] Like then it
will not be me who dies.
(sword scrape)
[Portould] Ahh! (stomach punch)
Ahh!
Ah ah ah ah.
[Baxter] Gruesome, mate! the Book.
[Gruesome] Ah.
Ahh!
Ahh
[Gruesome] You'll never escape this ship
before Malleck's bomb
makes ghosts of us all.
[Baxter] I always finish my mission.
The Black Book wasn't plundered
to hand over to parasites.
[Portould] Then finish your mission.
[Gruesome] Uh! (face punch)
Ahh.
[Baxter] Escaping
isn't what it used to be.
[Portould] Ha ha Bon voyage!
Since we salvaged you Gruesome,
you'll serve us.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum, Grissum.
(Horns sounds)
[Narrator Elijah] So Malleck, my brother,
you captured my other self
the Sphinx there in the Black Church,
to prevent the Sphinx
from releasing the curse,
which has withheld the rains
For many years.
[Sphinx] My curse falls on those
who steal the Sacred Arrows.
[Malleck] Last century,
You almost, almost,
achieved the destruction of mankind.
You have communed with the unseen world.
[Elijah] The King of Israel
used those Sacred Arrows to secure victory,
by striking them on the ground eight times.
[{Malleck] Without the
sacred Arrows you will fail.
[{Narrator Elijah] They will be
fired at the soothsayer's dead body
preventing him from rising from the dead.
Soon the descendants of
those who sought my life,
will be destroyed.
[Sphinx] My power exists
regardless of your faith.
Killing their God wasn't
enough for this generation.
[Malleck] This generation
would still live as though
their God were dead
whether he were to rise from the dead,
in three days or not.
([Narrator Baxter) In Malleck's realm
his fearsome Seth dogs
appeared alongside the Sphinx
embodying the eternal struggle
between light and darkness.
[Maleck] For you, a more
sophisticated method of destruction
will need to be found.
[Sphinx] Striking Arrows on the ground
and firing them at your foes
defeated Israel's enemies,
but won't destroy yours!
[Malleck] You will be destroyed
[Sphinx] Denying the curse
shows you are under the curse.
Professing belief in your King
doesn't hide your unbelief.
The biggest mistake you will make
is to doubt the power
released,
should you destroy me.!
[Malleck] You will be
destroyed as Pilate was.
Unshar and Gruesome
betrayed their master for me.
The secrets of the underworld will be mine,
once my stolen Black
Book has been returned.
I will reverse the curse
and have the last word.
[Gruesome] If you don't get your boy
to tell us where Malleck is,
you know what's gonna happen to ya!
[Anfisa] Here he is.
What took you so long Kai?
[Kai] The ships have been seized.
They're not buying anything.
[Anfisa] If this
drought doesn't end soon,
we'll not be around to see the end.
Your clothes are soaked.
[Kai] The storm.
[Anfisa] It's not rained in three years.
[Kai] There's a look in
your eye I haven't seen since...
[Anfisa] Fetch the firewood.
[Kai] I'm trying my best.
Why shouldn't I be able to perform miracles
like the Soothsayer's did in the old days?
[Anfisa] No one's ever seen a Soothsayer.
Where did you get this cloak?
[Kai] The Soothsayer.
[Anfisa] Do you believe
everything you're told?
[Kai] You told me not to
believe everything I'm told.
[Anfisa] Then perhaps you've
just worked your first miracle.
[Kai] Really?
[Anfisa] That I'm still
alive with such a gullible son.
Go get the wood!
[Portould] You've had your chance Anfisa,
now you're coming with us.
[Anfisa] Kai knows
nothing of the Black Church.
Damn me if you have to.
[Gruesome] Don't worry we will!
[Soothsayer] Without the
cloak, you're without my presence.
Where is it?
[Kai] My mother, I have to go back.
[Anfisa] No!
(rising orchestra)
(ocean splashing)
(ocean splashing)
(birds tweeting)
(gravel crunching)
[Baxter] This is no place for a kid, kid.
[Kai] The Soothsayer left me.
[Baxter] You're better off that way.
All of us are alone kid..
Look out for one person, yourself.
[Gruesome] You're
losing your touch Portould.
Uhh! (face punch)
[Portould] You're here,
but I don't have to like it.
[Baxter] Well, what do you know?,
The kid's a useful decoy.
(rising music)
Which way are you going kid?
[Kai] That way.
[Baxter] Bad luck,
Last time we met,
was the last time I wanted to meet.
I've got my own problems.
[Kai] That's no surprise.
[Baxter] Will you stop following me kid?
[Portould] I can make this easy for you.
No one has to know you failed.
Show me some co-operation, you traitor.
[Baxter] You'll have
to shoot me like one first.
[Portould] You can count on that.
[Baxter] Whether your
gun fires or not Porthole,
you'd miss me either way.
[Gruesome] You can only
outrun your vices for so long.
Malleck will never exchange
the Arrows for half a flask of whiskey!
[Baxter] It'll be empty
long before I reach
the Black Church Gruesome.
[Gruesome] You should
know my name by now!
'Ere, I'm gonna send you to the other side!
[Baxter] Shame you
never showed this dedication
when I hired you.
[Kai] My mother's looking for Malleck.
[Baxter] Malleck? Who's your mother?
[Kai] Anfisa, you know her?
[Baxter] I know a lot of people.
Like I said, I look after one person.
[Gruesome] Yeah ha!
You don't do that very well, do ya?
[Baxter] Well I'd
hate to prove you wrong.
I know how it upsets you.
[Portould] Then you've
had your last smoke Baxter.
Oh Damn, Damn!
[Unshar] Where the hell am I?
[Malleck] Part of the
underworld and damned.
[Unshar] Getting the Black Book
didn't go according to Plan Malleck.
You've destroyed more believers
than you have converted.
[Malleck] I will ensure their faith
disappears along with Pilate.
[Unshar] I'll believe
that, when I see it.
[Unshar] No you won't,
I've been praying for you.
[Malleck] Damnation is a
side effect of you killing Pilate.
[Unshar] I'm damned because
he used the Black Book on me.
[Malleck] I would rejoice if
you were right, but you're not.
You are nothing.
[Unshar] You won't rejoice.
[Malleck] Only if you
let me have the last word.
[Baxter] Ow! the Yaguans will kill me
before you do Gruesome.
Hope they've got an antidote.
[Kai] Get me out of here first
[Baxter] You'll need an antidote from me
if you don't shut up!
[Kai] the only antidote
for a fool is another fool.
[Gruesome] Still sure
about getting a bomb
instead of the Black Book?
[Baxter] If you get between
me and the Yaguan's arrows
I'll feel a lot better.
[Gruesome] Ahh! (arrow thud)
I owe you this one
Baxter, for old time's sake.
[Baxter] Maybe now
you'll shut up Gruesome.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum, Grissum.
Ahh Ahh.
[Kai] One down, one to go.
Are we there yet?
[Baxter] They're gaining on us.
Just hope they don't sound the drum.
[Kai] what does it mean?
[Baxter] They found their lunch,
Us.
[Kai] Primitives always
eat the ugly guy first.
[Baxter] No way, they'll eat you first,
they prefer fresh meat.
[Kai] This wouldn't be so hard
if you weren't so ugly and old.
[Baxter] This wouldn't have happened
if you weren't here.
[Kai] They're on fire!
[Baxter] No they carry fires with them
in the vein hope of
restoring it to this island.
The Sphinx's curse
won't let fire burn here.
[Kai] Could the lost Mantle save us?
[Baxter] If you believe
in a Magic Mantle kid,
nothing can save us now.
(water splashing)
(Dramatic Music)
(Dramatic Music)
(rising Music)
(sticks thud)
(sticks thud)
(sticks thud)
[Mequine] You fool!
You have survived only to die.
Malleck let you steal forgeries.
Your men died in vain.
(figurine thud)
[Priest] Ahh! (wood scrape)
Ahh!
[Mequine] Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] Hope your
Soothsayer finds you soon.
I may not be alive
to look after you much longer.
(drums thumping)
[Mequine] Now to
this unexpected surprise.
To what do we owe the
pleasure of your company.
[Mequine] Those about
to be eaten, are not guests.
[Baxter] That explains why everyone
claims to be your friends.
[Mequine] Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Maru] Only a man guided by a Soothsayer
could have escaped our warriors.
They must be here to trick us.
[Mequine] You must forgive Maru.
When my daughter's hungry,
she becomes fickle.
[Maru] And as your people,
we suffer great shame,
living in the land of fires
without fire.
[Mequine] I struggle to find a reason
why I should not give you and the boy
as an appeasement to our gods.
Perhaps we should let
the arrow in you decide.
The effect of it's venom is curious,
If you're lucky before you die
you will even believe Maru loves you.
[Baxter] And if I'm unlucky?
[Mequine] I give you to her in marriage.
(romantic music)
[Maru] And I'll make sure you
spend the rest of our marriage,
wishing you'd become
a sacrifice to our gods.
[Baxter] I'm sure your
gods would be more appeased
with a kid's sacrifice.
After all
I know where the Arrows are.
[Mequine] Sacred Arrows?
Now your intentions are revealed.
[Kai] Don't listen to him.
Baxter you mad man, so do I.
[Baxter] How about the antidote?
[Mequine] What antidote?
[Baxter] Poison arrow?
In my arm? killing me.
Ahh. (arrow swish)
[Mequine] Maru!
[Maru] (spit sound)
Disgusting.
[Mequine] She doesn't think much of you.
The boy can get the arrows,
be thankful they are not the Sacred ones
or you'd already be damned.
Can you really get the Arrows?
I thought not.
Time for your man making ceremony.
Oh no you don't.
Tell me where they are,
and I'll go.
[Mequine] Go?,
And how will we pass on our stories
when we don't have your
skin to write them on?
Your story will resonate
with all enslaved creatures.
[Kai] But if I get the arrows,
it'll be a happy ending?
[Mequine] Alas! there will
be no happy ending for you.
Mr Quatoo Tattoo
will burn the story onto your skin.
Unfortunately, we have no fire.
He must cut rather than burn.
[Kai] Baxter I'm too young to die!
[Baxter] Don't be like that kid,
I appreciate you coming along.
[Portould] We lost
Baxter in the Land of Fires.
[Pilate] You fool!
Now I wish you'd been killed.
Give me the gun.
[Portould] It's unreliable.
[Pilate] As unreliable as you?
I don't think so.
You're the one that'll get hurt
if you're wrong.
[Portould] One more chance Pilate.
[Portould] If I was in the tomb
you wouldn't have to fire the Arrows.
[Pilate] You have them?
[Portould] I'll have them soon.
[Pilate] You will be
in the tomb if you don't.
[Mequine] You see Mr Baxter,
the curse of the Sphinx
blinded man's eyes to
the power of the Arrows.
No one defied the Sphinx and lived.
[Quatoo] Shhh!
My God is speaking.
[Meguine] Begin the execution dance!
[Baxter] Who's the victim?
[Mequine] ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! You.
If the gods favor you,
you will be spared.
And this will be your wedding ceremony.
Hmm
[Baxter] Dead or married?
Tough call.
[Unshar] You won't be saying
that on your wedding night.
[{Meguine] 'Hunis Decanton'.
[Gretin as Maru] I can only love you
if you love me more openly than I love you.
[Baxter] You'll have to get
used to living without my love.
[Mequine] You may wish to be kinder
then her last husband.
[Baxter] He's the lucky one.
[Mequine] Yours will run
out sooner, rather than later.
[{Gretin as Maru] You
could pretend to love me.
[Baxter] It would be
easier to pretend to hate you.
Get to the camp,
release the kid before Pilate gets to him.
You can pretend to care
about me another time.
[Maru] Don't flatter
yourself, it's not believable.
[Pilate] You're already as good as dead,
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] Ahh!
[Pilate] ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Only your own ghost
visiting you will save you now.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
So, tell me where Anfisa's boy is.
(Baxter) Aghh.
Aghh.
Aghh.
Aghh.
[Kai] Untie me.
[Maru] Something's happened to Baxter.
[Kai] What do you care?
You come to me because you want something,
whilst Baxter's off saving himself.
[Maru] You're right,
I don't care.
Hurry up and die.
[Kai] Don't leave me here.
[Maru] Promise me you'll return here,
with the Sacred Arrows,
and my father may exchange them
for the Mantle.
[Kai] Okay, I'll try.
[Maru] You promised me.
[Kai] Your father can't
exchange the Mantle for the Arrows,
unless Pilate's here.
[Maru] He is here,
so why are you?
[Kai] He must be unaware
of the Mantle's power,
or be unable to use it.
[Mequine] Are you betraying me daughter?
[Portould] Show us
where the Sacred Arrows are,
or we'll damn your soul as well.
[Mequine] Oh, I doubt
that boy will return with them.
But if I convince him
his mother avoid capture,
and I know where she is then...
[Portould]...No one will
suspect that we have the Arrows.
Your life depends on this.
[Mequine] I'll bring the cloak
for the boy to exchange for the Arrows.
[Mequine] That cloak, might prove useful.
[Portould] I've checked,
and Meguine doesn't have the Arrows.
[Pilate] Then Baxter will
die like the traitor he is.
[Baxter] Ask my wife where they are
she won't tell me.
[Pilate] Ask her yourself,
she's in there with you.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] I'd tell you to go to hell
if you weren't there already.
[Gretin] Only since
I've been married to you.
[Maru] Kai has disappeared.
[Baxter] The kid? Probably killed by now,
so you'll need me to get your silly Arrows.
[Maru] I can do it
how much are you offering?
Ohh.
[Maru] And if I refuse?,
He's nothing to me.
If it wasn't for me, he'd be dead already.
The only thing sacred to him,
is him.
[Pilate] You won't miss her.
[Baxter] Okay okay!
The kid's in the camp.
[Maru] Baxter I didn't
think you had it in you.
[Baxter] I just don't like the boy.
Aghh!
Aghh.
[Baxter] Aghhhhhhh.
[Maru] I knew you'd say it.
[Baxter] I didn't say I loved you.
[Baxter] Ahh Aghh!
[Gretin] Portould! Portould!
Portould!
[Baxter] If you'd
convinced Kai to come here,
we wouldn't have to waste
our time coming here too.
[Maru] Look up,
Kai keeps his promises to me.
Now let's find the Arrows
and get out of here before
we get caught or killed.
[Malleck] Gruesome
- [Baxter as Gruesome]
You're expecting someone else?
[Malleck] Did Pilate die well?
[Baxter as Gruesome] It's Grissum
[Malleck] yes yes but what of my brother?
Did Pilate die well?
[Maru] Not as well as you will.
[Baxter as Gruesome] We've put
your Black Book with Sacred Arrows.
[Malleck] Black Book? Hmm.
This way, after you.
Betraying me as you betrayed your master,
was to be expected.
[Maru] Huh! that fool.
[Baxter] He's not that bad.
Huh.
No wonder people stay away from church.
[Malleck] I'm going to
send you with the Sphinx
into the furnace
from the Land of the Fires.
[Baxter] Well you won't want this then.
[Malleck] Who sent you with this?
[Malleck reads Piates letter]
'Malleck, convey the Arrows away'
'there is a plot afoot by Pilate's men',
'seeking the Sacred Arrows'.
The days my brother
would join me for a drink.
Are long gone.
Hmm.
Now he's dead.
And you
are masquerading as your dead servants.
Why?
[Baxter] You made my men betray me
with your empty promises.
[Malleck] So,
the master masquerading as his servants.
So this note cannot be from Unshar.
And Pilate's death, a deception.
[Baxter] Destroying the
Sphinx would guarantee
Pilate never dies.
[Malleck] I'll make sure you
won't be around to see that.
(Harp crescendo)
(footsteps crunching)
(sea splashing)
(cloak thuds)
(birds twitter)
(sea splashing)
(cloak ruffle)
(music accent)
(cloak ruffle)
(birds twitter)
(boat knocking)
(sea splashing)
(footsteps crunching)
[Mequine] Now you can
see (footsteps crunching)
I know where your mother is,
(cloak ruffle)
give me those Arrows and you'll see her.
[Kai] How do I know
you haven't killed her?
(cloak thud)
[Mequine] Could this be
the very cloak of miracles?
[Kai] What have you done with my mother?
[Mequine] Are you still expecting me
to keep my word?
The World doesn't work like that boy.
You've shown you're willing
to sacrifice yourself
for something more worthwhile.
So die like a man
[Kai] Aghh. (stones
(stones crunching)
(footsteps running)
(gravel crunching)
(sword knocking)
Ahh (swords clash)
Ahh (swords scrape)
Aghh. (swords clash)
(swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghhhh. (swords clash)
(footsteps crunch)
Ahh. (swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghh (swords clash)
Uh! (sword stabs)
(birds tweeting)
(sword falls)
(cloak thud)
(sword withdrawn)
(water lapping)
(stones crunch)
[Kai] You've been
collaborating with Pilate
all along.
[Mequine] Compared to
the Lost Mantle of Elijah,
those Arrows are as worthless
as you are (birds twitter)
for believing in a worthless Soothsayer.
(stones crunch)
(body thud)
(stones crunching)
[Mequine] And you are?
[Soothsayer] A worthless soothsayer.
Those the world deem worthless
are valuable to me.
(sword swipe)
[Mequine] The Sacred
Arrows in Pilate's hands
will ensure the King's ghost
is the only part of him
left remaining on this Earth.
[Soothsayer] The power of the
Mantle can only be given, not taken.
(sword tings)
You will join Pilate stalking the Earth
without processing it. (flames roar)
(birds tweeting)
[Mequine] Remember me, King.
[Soothsayer] You're
going to the other place.
(rising music)
[Mequine] ah ahhhhhhh.
(music rises)
(dogs growl)
(music rises)
[Baxter] Release us.
Only we can stop Pilate
destroying everything.
The curse will be just the beginning.
[Malleck] The words of
the righteous are known
before they are spoken
yours are not.
[Baxter] Wait
The Sacred Arrows are gone
they won't be rejected as fakes this time.
Pilate's other self is alive
outside the dream world
in the form of this Sphinx.
(dogs growl)
[Malleck] Pilate
manifesting as the Sphinx
is as believable as
Pilate being Elijah himself
[Baxter] Well someone
is preventing the King
from redeeming lost souls,
someone you're as helpless against
as you are against your own self.
[Malleck] Only Elijah's God
sending fire from the heavens
will help you now.
(music)
[Anfisa] Aghh! (hand slap)
Aghh.
I don't know where he is.
I don't know where he is.
[Portould] I don't think you do either
but he's not my son,
and I'm not the one you need to impress.
[Anfisa] I don't know where he is.
[Gretin] Nice try.
No pass no board.
[Soothsayer] I have a pass.
[Gretin] Won't be valid,
else there'll be painful consequences.
I'll gladly get on board
[Soothsayer] if it is less
painful than looking at you
[Gretin] You're less
likely to be ransacked
if I relieve you of your silver.
[Soothsayer] Just so.
[Gretin] oh oh ah!
Ruthless old man betray a boy.
I like your style.
[Soothsayer] Pilate seeks this boy
I've come to collect his reward.
[Portould] Who arrived in that boat?
[Gretin] Well he's over there
and I know something else.
He is the soothsayer.
Ahh!
Aghh.
Did you pull me from the pit
to ring my neck with your own bare hands?
[Portould] What else?
[Gretin] He's got the boy.
Agh.
[Portould] Get below.
I'll find out who this
soothsayer really is.
[Soothsayer] You
wouldn't want your friends
to be destroyed like you were
Just because we failed
to take the Sacred Arrows off Pilate.
[Kai] If it means my mother
remains captive here, yes.
[Gretin] You must have been desperate
to be tricked by an old fool.
I get paid a percentage
to get people out of here.
[Gretin] I can do you a good deal.
[Kai] I'm not that easily fooled, fool.
[Gretin] If he's really the Soothsayer
why has he been working for Pilate
damning souls for years?
[Kai] You're wrong.
[Gretin] If I'm wrong.
That isn't your mother dying down below.
[Kai] Here?
How?
[Gretin] All betray all
before crying their last.
[Gretin] Aghh
Aghh.
Ahh.
[Soothsayer] We must leave.
Attempting to take
the Sacred Arrows off Pilate
is a great enough risk
without seeking your mother as well.
[Kai] You won't stop me
going back for her again!
Maybe this fool was right about you!
[Soothsayer] Kai.
I must return to the unseen world.
Remember,
I am with you.
(Music)
[Portould] Anfisa is dead.
Tell me where her son
is or you will join her.
[Soothsayer] You're
making a foolish mistake
believing this life is all there is.
[Pilate] Only if I believed
you to be a soothsayer.
[Soothsayer] Have those you murdered
begun to haunt you so soon?
[Pilate] Your handful of followers
will need more than faith
to believe you ever lived.
They'll need a miracle.
Where did this squeal come from?
[Portould] What would break this drought
if Elijah was forbidden to wear the Mantle?
[Pilate] Anfisa's son.
So, Kai is master of the Mantle now.
The boy must not escape.
[Gretin] I'm rich.
[Portould] Having thirty silver coins
doesn't stop you
from being worthless.
Which way did he go?
[Gretin] He went that way.
[Kai] No!
Kundi When Dunis.
You were right.
What use is believing
in a Mantle of miracles
when I've not performed a single one?
If only you were still alive.
I know where Malleck the Sorcerer is.
[Portould] Come on boy
revenge your damn mother.
(canon blast)
(fire crackling)
(ocean splashes)
(canon blast)
(fire crackling)
(music flutes)
[Kai] I'll be back.
[Portould] I must be seen to destroy you.
But if you serve me
Pilate will never need to know.
(music descending)
[Pilate] Now, strike the
Sacred Arrows on the ground.
(arrows strike)
(drone hum)
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
The unseen world
and my other self become
more visible. (arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
Aim these Arrows
at Malleck's damn Black
Church. (arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
Now!
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
[Portould] What about the tomb?
(arrows strike)
What will you become
if the Sphinx is destroyed?
(arrows strike)
He seems to become you, by the hour.
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
(music crescendo)
(canon whoosh)
(canon explosion)
(music theme)
(debris smashes)
[Malleck] When I see
suffering in the world, I rejoice.
[Baxter] Not for long you won't.
You have one chance of getting
your book and Arrows
back Malleck, (dogs growl)
Me.
(debris smashes)
(chain clashing)
(chain clashing)
(dogs growling)
(chain clashing)
(pin chimes)
(stone grating)
(slab grinding)
(slab grinding)
(fire roaring)
[Maru] The Sphinx will not stop
until it enslaves the
World. (chain clinking)
(slab grinding)
(slab grinding)
(chain scraping)
[Maru] Huh ah. (explosion crack)
Oh oh. (explosion crack)
Ah Oh (chain scraping)
oh oh oh (music crescendo)
Ah oh. (slab grinding)
(fire explosion)
(whirlpool roar)
(drone hum)
[Portould] If I damn that damn Sphinx
before it takes over, Pilate.
Damn, damn, damn
[Pilate] You manifest what you fear
by fearing what I will become.
Destroy the tomb now!
[Sphinx] Your stolen Arrows are returned
ensuring by entering
the afterlife (fire roaring)
in the form of Pilate's others elf!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! (fire explosion)
[Baxter] Give me your
hand. (fire crackling)
[Maru] If I do that
I'll fall. (fire roars)
I can't hold on much longer! (fire roars)
[Baxter] You've got
to let go (fire roars)
if you don't want to die.
[Maru] You'd enjoy that Baxter.
[Baxter] If you don't give me your hand
you better believe God
will raise you from the dead.
[Maru] We cannot deny my father's gods
their appeasement.
Our marriage is false.
[Baxter] You must love me
you're way too angry with me
[Maru] Ha, that'd give
you a lot of satisfaction.
[Baxter] Sorry to deny you
the satisfaction of rescuing me this time.
[Maru] I tried too hard last time.
I led you here to get you killed.
(fire roar)
[Malleck] My father's gods were cheated
out of their sacrifice.
For us, they'll be hell to pay.
(music ascending)
You're a little too late,
but never too early for sacrifice.
[Kai] Then better show
the gods I serve them.
[Malleck] Then serve them! (music theme)
(music theme)
(sword strike)
Ahh. (sword scrape)
(sword scrape)
Aghh.
(sword scrape)
Ah, uh.
(sword scrape)
Agh no Ahhh. (sword scrape)
Agh no Ahhh. (sword scrape)
Ahh.
Ahh. (sword scrape)
Ah.
Ahhh!
(sword scrape)
ah ah. (hit thud)
- Aghh.
- [Malleck]
(music accent)
Ah.
Agh. (Music fanfare)
Ah.
(music rising)
Ah.
(sword strikes)
(dogs growl)
(sword strike)
[Kai] Baxter, the soothsayer told me
you were in danger.
But the only reason I'm here is...
[Baxter] ...if it's about
me agreeing to your hanging
[Kai] ...is that I
realized you can help me
bring back my mother
[Baxter] Anfisa?
No.
Can you get us out of here Kai?
[Kai] My help,
...asking for my help Baxter?
[Baxter] Given the circumstances, yes.
[Kai] And will you
help me save my mother?
[Baxter] Try and stop me.
[Kai] Deal.
(music rises)
(cloak swishes)
[Malleck] Wow ah ah ah
ah ah! (chariot whooshes)
(music crescendo)
(chariot creaking)
(horse neighs)
(fire roaring)
(horses galloping)
(explosion smash)
(horse neighs)
[Baxter] Dying, isn't what it used to be.
(horses galloping)
(exploding swoosh)
(gravel grating)
(chariot swish)
[Maru] The Yaguans are helping us
because of my father's lost cloak.
[Kai] The Mantle, it's gone!
[Baxter] Helping us?
When you get shot
there'll be no antidote from me.
[Maru] So you were hoping I'd leave you?
[Baxter] Makes no sense
for both of us to get hurt
[Maru] Then it won't
hurt to tell me to stay.
[Baxter] I'm not
gonna tell you I love you
When you want me dead.
[Maru] I only hurt the ones I love.
Your luck has to run out sooner or later.
(music crescendo)
(drums patter)
(music accent)
(underwater bubbling)
(waves splashing)
[Portould] It's too
easy killing you Baxter.
(canon crack)
(explosion swoosh)
(explosion splash)
[Maru] Baxter, no one
will kill you before I do.
[Baxter] Mersin the
Siren (underwater bubbling)
coming for the Mantle,
(ghost ohh)
and to lure me at last to my death.
[Portould] The land of the fires burns.
(music accent)
I cannot see the tomb.
(timpani bangs)
(music strings)
Ohhh. (underwater bubbling)
(punch thud)
[Malleck] Ohhh.
(punch thud)
[Baxter] Ohhh.
[Malleck] ohh. (punch thud)
[Baxter] Ohhh. (punch thud)
[Malleck] Aghh. (punch thud)
Aghh. (punch thud)
[Malleck] Ohh.
(ocean splashing)
(electricity buzz)
[Sphinx] Malleck's sacrifice
merged Pilate's other self into mine.
Now, with seeing eyes
I will witness the King's tomb destroyed,
Causing the World, (underwater bubbling)
to look to me,
to save them from
themselves. (electricity buzz)
The boy, you let him
escape. (electricity buzz)
[Portould] (choking)
[Portould] (breathing)
[Kai] Quendi Khun Dunis. (music brass)
(music fanfare)
(water splashing)
(wood knocking)
(water splashing)
(music fanfare)
(timpani banging)
(whirlpool splashing)
[Elijah as Sphinx] Aim
the Arrows at the tomb now!
[Portould] It was the
soothsayer all along.
(galley creaking)
The King isn't in the tomb anymore.
(galley creaking)
(music crescendo)
[Portould] He's come back to destroy us!
(ocean splashing)
[Sphinx] Not before escaping the hell,
my God has prepared for him.
[Portould] Uh! (sword stab)
Uh.
(galley creaking)
(body thud)
(music crescendo)
(sword clashing)
(galley creaking)
(whirlpool crescendo)
[Malleck] You have no soul Sphinx,
(galley creaking)
and this Black Book is useless to you.
(galley creaking)
(sword strike)
(sword scrape)
(sword strike)
(whirlpool roar)
(music accent)
[Sphinx] You only reflect me.
(galley creaking)
(music strings)
(water splashing)
[Kai] The Galley is taking my mother
into the whirlpool of Absalom.
(water splashing)
(galley creaking)
(water splashing)
(cloak thud)
(mantle shuffling)
(water splashing)
(ocean roars)
(galley creaking)
(galley hums)
[Malleck] I will have the last word.
(galley creaking)
(cloak thud)
(galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] Elijah, come
out where I can see you
and I will pass before
you. (galley creaking)
[Elijah] So the King I killed is risen.
(galley creaking)
We are both transformed. (galley creaking)
You cannot kill me if I'm already dead,
nor damn me if I have
no soul. (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] Your
others elf is beyond your reach,
but still within mine.
[Elijah] You lost your life to
save slaves (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] It's a different
world to when you were here.
(galley creaking)
[Elijah] Only through my nightmares
can you reach Pilate now.
(piano bang)
(ocean splash)
[Soothsayer] You're
not even looking at me
with your own eyes.
[Elijah] If Pilate had not
killed you (galley creaking)
you could not have risen
from the dead. (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] securing
Grace (galley creaking)
for the world,
required a price to be paid.
[Elijah] Is there anything to forgive
because Pilate carried out your will?
If so,
be satisfied with thirty pieces of silver.
(galley creaking)
If you require payment.
(trumpet blast)
[Soothsayer] I extend Grace
even to my enemies. (man screaming)
(trumpet crescendo)
[Elijah] Then you will return
my Mantle
and work miracles through me.
(galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] It is foolish
to wish for that which will destroy you.
(music crescendo)
(deep rumble)
[Elijah] I will not be
unfaithful to my calling,
by joining those I was sent to destroy.
(low rumble)
Those who covet the Mantle.
[Soothsayer] The
Mantle's power is irrelevant
should you resist my
Grace (galley creaking)
offered to those like
Kai. (galley creaking)
[Elijah] No!
(galley creaking)
Only I was spared death.
[Soothsayer] Only you can
decide how to spend eternity.
(galley creaking)
Only you can prevent
being torn from within.
(music crescendo)
[Elijah] No!
(explosion blast)
(explosion blast)
(horses neigh)
(ocean roars)
[Baxter] Come on Kai!
(cloak thud)
[Kai] My Mantle.
(cloak ruffle)
(water splashing)
(explosion blast)
(water splashing)
(galley roars)
(water splashing)
(deep rumble)
[Anfisa] It's you, it's really you.
(music fanfare)
[Kai] We've got to go, come on.
(deep rumble)
(water splashing)
(water exploding)
(galley roaring)
(water exploding)
(music fanfare)
(drums shuffling)
[Maru] Well, you're still alive Baxter,
but you can't escape my gods.
(drums shuffling)
[Baxter] Can your gods save my ship?
(ocean splash)
[Kai] Without the
Mantle to raise your ship,
we're stranded.
[Anfisa] You still don't
believe? (drums shuffling)
(drums shuffling)
[Baxter] If I told you
you wouldn't believe me.
(gravel crunching)
[Anfisa] Then why don't you just show
what you do believe?
[Maru] He believes in
himself. (drums shuffling)
Couldn't even tell me he
loved me. (drums shuffling)
Couldn't even die for me. (drums shuffling)
And after all I've done
for you, (drums shuffling)
after all those times I saved
your life. (drums shuffling)
This marriage to you is worth nothing.
(music theme)
And at the end of it,
I won't even get half of your ship.
[Baxter] Ship?
Huh. (cloth strike)
huh.
Loving,
Isn't what it used to be.
(music crescendo)
[Maru] haha haha haha.
[Baxter] haha haha haha.
[Maru] haha haha haha.
[Baxter] haha haha haha.
[Anfisa] haha haha haha.
[Maru] haha haha.
[Baxter] The only person
to gain from the Mantle now,
was the mermaid siren, Mersin,
who has the lost Mantle.
It's only a matter of time (music fanfare)
before she lures Elijah (music fanfare)
to return to take it
from her. (music fanfare)
I wish he'd died (music fanfare)
(music fanfare)
(music theme)
(fanfare music)
[Narrator] You have not come
to a mountain that is burning with fire.
To such a voice speaking words,
that those who heard it,
begged that no further
word be spoken to them.
But you have come to Mount Zion,
to the city of the Living God,
You have come to God.
To Jesus the mediator of a New Covenant.
[God] Elijah, Elijah,
What are you doing here
Elijah? (horse gallops and whoosh)
[Elijah] I have been
very jealous for you Lord.
For your people of Israel
(horse gallops and whoosh)
have forsaken your Covenant,
Thrown down your altars,
Slain your prophets with the sword,
And I, even I only am left,
and they seek my life to take it away.
(chariot and horses galloping)
[God] Elijah when my
people turned away from me,
they broke my heart.
I have decided to send
them my Son, the King
disguised as a Soothsayer
(horse gallops and whoosh)
in the hope my people will turn
to Him. (horse gallops and whoosh)
(chariot and horses galloping)
Although they may kill him
under orders from the man named Pilate,
My dear Son's death will become a sacrifice
atoning for my people turning from me.
But I will raise my Son from the
dead (horse gallops and whoosh)
on the third day.
And those believing in Him
shall receive from me,
Eternal life and miraculous
power (horse neighs)
once used with your cloak, The Mantle.
(horse gallops and whoosh)
[Elijah] Oh Lord, God of
Abraham, Isaac and Israel,
If your Son the Soothsayer
must die for your people,
Let it be by my hand,
(horse galloping whoosh)
which killed the prophets of Baal
at the Brook Kishon. (waves splashing)
May it be known
by my killing your Son,
that I, Elijah,
your servant,
carry out your will, (body thud)
to turn your people's hearts back to you.
(dark music)
(chariot and horses galloping)
So I shall change my name to Pilate.
I shall remove my other self,
my conscience from me
and call it the name 'Sphinx'.
(fanfare music)
Then with a clear conscience,
I will sacrifice your Son.
After your Son rises again,
I will merge with my other self,
the Sphinx, (ascending music)
and work miracles again
with The Mantle of Elijah.
I Elijah shall be both Pilate
and the Sphinx.
(string music)
(horses galloping and whoosh)
[Soothsayer] For thousands of years,
Elijah's Mantle was lost.
He used it to work miracles
on God's behalf.
[Gruesome] The prophet who does not die
shall return to reclaim
his Mantle, (thunder crack)
it's in the Prophecy.
(thunder crack) (horse neighs)
(title music)
[Meguine] That cloak might prove useful.
Could this be the very cloak of miracles?
[Baxter] Things couldn't be going well
if I was seeking the advice of
a Mermaid Siren, called Mersin.
She was known to lure sailors
like me and their ships, to their deaths
in heeding her song.
Maybe I was going to join them.
I had half given up hope
of finding Mersin
to guide me how to use the Black Book
which damns souls.
I had acquired it from Malleck
at the Black Church.
Mersin must have cast a spell on me,
As I awoke in a strange place.
(wind whispering)
Every man who goes to sea,
knows the old stories
like Elijah and his miracle working cloak.
Or his apprentice Elijah
with the Sacred Arrows.
(wind whispering)
The stories say Elijah never died
but went to heaven
in a Chariot of Fire.
I wish he'd died.
(string music)
'Cause now,
thousands of years after they say
he was taken to heaven,
Elijah is back down here
as a pirate called Pilate,
(ship creaking water splashing)
and he's not happy.
Pilate's brother
Malleck has some part of Elijah trapped
back there in the Black Church.
Wouldn't have seen it
if Pilate hadn't hijacked my ship
and sent me there.
I got some Black Book
But my men betrayed me,
stole it
and left me here to drown
at the whirlpool of Absalom.
Hmm,
This business isn't what it used to be.
Hmm, my men
Gruesome and Unshar.
(orchestral music)
(Lightning explodes)
[Unshar] We still have time
to return the Black Book to Malleck
and escape the curse
that destroyed the crew of our old ship.
[Gruesome] I don't think so.
We're being followed.
[Unshar] What?
[Gruesome] Well you
were sleeping off the rum,
a darkness swallowed the Earth,
just as the man that Pilate killed died.
In an hour or so,
whoever's name is in that Black Book,
Shall be owned by Malleck.
[Unshar] I'm not easily scared
even if they trade my soul
for gold.
[Gruesome] Lead, Unshar.
Your name is in that Book, Unshar.
[Unshar] You promised
we'd be rich Gruesome.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum,
Grissum and I won't tell you again!
[Unshar] I can think of
many names to call you.
[Gruesome] Yes, but if
we take that Black Book
hmm, right, back to Malleck,
we will lead whoever is following us
to the Black Church!
[Unshar] At least Baxter couldn't escape
the whirlpool of Absolom.
[Gruesome] I wouldn't bet on that
[Unshar] When he ordered us
not to seek the Sacred Arrows
it was obvious that we would.
[Gruesome] Yes but we failed.
[Unshar] But we got
this Black Book instead.
[Gruesome] Yes, but it says
that the prophet who does not die
shall return to reclaim his Mantle,
It's in the prophecy!
[Unshar] Come on, no one believes that
he went up to heaven on a Chariot of Fire,
he'd be powerless without
his Mantle of miracles.
[Gruesome] That is why
Malleck left us a backup plan,
Right?, in case his brother got the Book.
[Unshar] Huh,
I never thought I'd see the day
when you'd finally blow yourself to hell!
[Gruesome] Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Yes, yes.
But your name is on this as well brother.
[Unshar] Ha ha, ha?
(dark music)
[Elijah as Pilate] You've lost Baxter.
[Narrator Baxter] Hmmm,
Rescued by Pilate.
[Baxter] You've lost your mind Pilate.
(water drops)
[Pilate] Heart not in your work anymore?
[Baxter] I don't work
for pirates anymore.
[Pilate] Even when you're not,
your plunder has the
habit of becoming mine.
[Baxter] You should
kill me while you still can.
[Pilate] Unfortunately those I kill
don't remain dead.
[Baxter] Look at who's working for you.
[Pilate] But you'll change that.
[Baxter] Whatever it is you're after,
I don't have it.
[Pilate] You have the Black Book no?,
which makes certain
all the dead are damned forever.
[Baxter] So that's why you're looking
for literate men!
Uh! (stomach punch)
[Baxter] Losing your touch Porthole!
Huh. (stomach kick)
[Portould] You illegitimate Baxter.
[Pilate] Tragedy,
helps men recognise Gods.
If you won't get us
The Arrows
from the Black Church
we'll damn your soul.
The Black Book's power
[Baxter] to damn souls
has never been tried.
[Portould] Cursed if you do,
Damned if you don't.
[Baxter] I believe in one person,
Me.
[Portould] Huh!,
Then you believe in a dead man.
It's a shame you don't
believe in the miracle
you need to save your own ship.
[Baxter] I'm the only
survivor from the Black Church
Who else is going to
persuade your brother there
to surrender the Sacred Arrows to you?
[Pilate] Anfisa,
since she sold us her soul
believing it would prevent us taking yours.
[Baxter] She has no part in this.
Anfisa owes no debt to you.
[Pilate] Wrong again Baxter,
and we don't let our debtors die.
[Portould] Until they've paid in full,
then Anfisa's son
must be sent to get the Sacred Arrows.
(rising string music)
[Kai] (breathing)
(rain pattering)
[Kai] You said you'd
answer when I called.
Speak,
I'm listening.
[Narrator Baxter] A man
might believe in this soothsayer,
this Son of God,
if it wasn't for his followers.
They say anyone who doesn't believe
the soothsayer
will rise again to give them eternal life
is a slave,
and a sinner like me.
I'd rather take my
chances believing in myself.
[Son of God as a Soothsayer] How
can you find that which you have not seen,
if you don't know what you're looking for?
[Kai] When my mother is
out of debt to Pilate, I'll know.
[Soothsayer] And if they should
take the cloak from her very back?
[Kai] What is it?
[Soothsayer] A cloak.
[Kai] One step closer and I'll use it.
[Soothsayer] Killing a
spirit is hardly a victory.
[Soothsayer] For thousands
of years, Elijah's Mantle was lost,
He used it to work
miracles on God's behalf.
[Kai] Who is Elijah?
[Soothsayer] A prophet who no
longer recognizes me, or this Mantle.
[Kai] Will this Mantle
pay my mother's debt?
[Soothsayer] Perhaps if
you can do something for me,
All your debts will be paid.
[Kai] Do what?
[Soothsayer] Ensure the Sacred
Arrows do not fall into Pilate's hands.
[Kai] Sacred Arrows?
You're making this up.
[Soothsayer] You're
free to refuse to do this.
[Kai] A magic Mantle,
Sacred Arrows.
An errand from a crazy spirit
can you blame me?
[Soothsayer] Only
when your refusal to do so,
endangers yourself and those you love.
[Kai] So, I'm the
answer to my own prayers.
Great.
[Unshar] I will lead you to
the Sacred Arrows and Malleck
on your word, I'll have safe passage.
[Pilate] You're betrayed Baxter.
Your ship is taken and
Anfisa is as good as damned.
We no longer need you.
[Baxter] We agree on something.
[Pilate] Why should I trust you?
[Unshar] Because the
bomb aboard this ship,
Will detonate if you don't.
[Pilate] Before it does,
we'll damn your soul
with this Black Book you bought us.
Portould.
[Unshar] I may not have a soul Pilate,
but I still have a fist.
Agh! (fist punch)
[Baxter] You'll need more than a fist
when I get out of these chains.
[Pilate] Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Now Baxter are you motivated again?
[Portould] I found
this addressed to Malleck
confirming your death Pilate,
and persuading him to forfeit the Arrows.
[Pilate] My brother wants me dead.
Hmm, you will take this note to Malleck.
Disguised as poor dead Unshar.
[Baxter] Since you've
started stealing souls
with Malleck's book
I'll take no part in this.
[Pilate] You're lack of
faith in us is no surprise.
[Portould] Then you'll
be damned like Unshar.
[Pilate] Thanks for your ship Baxter.
[Portould] Anfisa's boy Kai,
will lead us to the Black Church.
[Baxter] Pilate only released you
so the King would die
in your place, Portould.
[Portould] Like then it
will not be me who dies.
(sword scrape)
[Portould] Ahh! (stomach punch)
Ahh!
Ah ah ah ah.
[Baxter] Gruesome, mate! the Book.
[Gruesome] Ah.
Ahh!
Ahh
[Gruesome] You'll never escape this ship
before Malleck's bomb
makes ghosts of us all.
[Baxter] I always finish my mission.
The Black Book wasn't plundered
to hand over to parasites.
[Portould] Then finish your mission.
[Gruesome] Uh! (face punch)
Ahh.
[Baxter] Escaping
isn't what it used to be.
[Portould] Ha ha Bon voyage!
Since we salvaged you Gruesome,
you'll serve us.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum, Grissum.
(Horns sounds)
[Narrator Elijah] So Malleck, my brother,
you captured my other self
the Sphinx there in the Black Church,
to prevent the Sphinx
from releasing the curse,
which has withheld the rains
For many years.
[Sphinx] My curse falls on those
who steal the Sacred Arrows.
[Malleck] Last century,
You almost, almost,
achieved the destruction of mankind.
You have communed with the unseen world.
[Elijah] The King of Israel
used those Sacred Arrows to secure victory,
by striking them on the ground eight times.
[{Malleck] Without the
sacred Arrows you will fail.
[{Narrator Elijah] They will be
fired at the soothsayer's dead body
preventing him from rising from the dead.
Soon the descendants of
those who sought my life,
will be destroyed.
[Sphinx] My power exists
regardless of your faith.
Killing their God wasn't
enough for this generation.
[Malleck] This generation
would still live as though
their God were dead
whether he were to rise from the dead,
in three days or not.
([Narrator Baxter) In Malleck's realm
his fearsome Seth dogs
appeared alongside the Sphinx
embodying the eternal struggle
between light and darkness.
[Maleck] For you, a more
sophisticated method of destruction
will need to be found.
[Sphinx] Striking Arrows on the ground
and firing them at your foes
defeated Israel's enemies,
but won't destroy yours!
[Malleck] You will be destroyed
[Sphinx] Denying the curse
shows you are under the curse.
Professing belief in your King
doesn't hide your unbelief.
The biggest mistake you will make
is to doubt the power
released,
should you destroy me.!
[Malleck] You will be
destroyed as Pilate was.
Unshar and Gruesome
betrayed their master for me.
The secrets of the underworld will be mine,
once my stolen Black
Book has been returned.
I will reverse the curse
and have the last word.
[Gruesome] If you don't get your boy
to tell us where Malleck is,
you know what's gonna happen to ya!
[Anfisa] Here he is.
What took you so long Kai?
[Kai] The ships have been seized.
They're not buying anything.
[Anfisa] If this
drought doesn't end soon,
we'll not be around to see the end.
Your clothes are soaked.
[Kai] The storm.
[Anfisa] It's not rained in three years.
[Kai] There's a look in
your eye I haven't seen since...
[Anfisa] Fetch the firewood.
[Kai] I'm trying my best.
Why shouldn't I be able to perform miracles
like the Soothsayer's did in the old days?
[Anfisa] No one's ever seen a Soothsayer.
Where did you get this cloak?
[Kai] The Soothsayer.
[Anfisa] Do you believe
everything you're told?
[Kai] You told me not to
believe everything I'm told.
[Anfisa] Then perhaps you've
just worked your first miracle.
[Kai] Really?
[Anfisa] That I'm still
alive with such a gullible son.
Go get the wood!
[Portould] You've had your chance Anfisa,
now you're coming with us.
[Anfisa] Kai knows
nothing of the Black Church.
Damn me if you have to.
[Gruesome] Don't worry we will!
[Soothsayer] Without the
cloak, you're without my presence.
Where is it?
[Kai] My mother, I have to go back.
[Anfisa] No!
(rising orchestra)
(ocean splashing)
(ocean splashing)
(birds tweeting)
(gravel crunching)
[Baxter] This is no place for a kid, kid.
[Kai] The Soothsayer left me.
[Baxter] You're better off that way.
All of us are alone kid..
Look out for one person, yourself.
[Gruesome] You're
losing your touch Portould.
Uhh! (face punch)
[Portould] You're here,
but I don't have to like it.
[Baxter] Well, what do you know?,
The kid's a useful decoy.
(rising music)
Which way are you going kid?
[Kai] That way.
[Baxter] Bad luck,
Last time we met,
was the last time I wanted to meet.
I've got my own problems.
[Kai] That's no surprise.
[Baxter] Will you stop following me kid?
[Portould] I can make this easy for you.
No one has to know you failed.
Show me some co-operation, you traitor.
[Baxter] You'll have
to shoot me like one first.
[Portould] You can count on that.
[Baxter] Whether your
gun fires or not Porthole,
you'd miss me either way.
[Gruesome] You can only
outrun your vices for so long.
Malleck will never exchange
the Arrows for half a flask of whiskey!
[Baxter] It'll be empty
long before I reach
the Black Church Gruesome.
[Gruesome] You should
know my name by now!
'Ere, I'm gonna send you to the other side!
[Baxter] Shame you
never showed this dedication
when I hired you.
[Kai] My mother's looking for Malleck.
[Baxter] Malleck? Who's your mother?
[Kai] Anfisa, you know her?
[Baxter] I know a lot of people.
Like I said, I look after one person.
[Gruesome] Yeah ha!
You don't do that very well, do ya?
[Baxter] Well I'd
hate to prove you wrong.
I know how it upsets you.
[Portould] Then you've
had your last smoke Baxter.
Oh Damn, Damn!
[Unshar] Where the hell am I?
[Malleck] Part of the
underworld and damned.
[Unshar] Getting the Black Book
didn't go according to Plan Malleck.
You've destroyed more believers
than you have converted.
[Malleck] I will ensure their faith
disappears along with Pilate.
[Unshar] I'll believe
that, when I see it.
[Unshar] No you won't,
I've been praying for you.
[Malleck] Damnation is a
side effect of you killing Pilate.
[Unshar] I'm damned because
he used the Black Book on me.
[Malleck] I would rejoice if
you were right, but you're not.
You are nothing.
[Unshar] You won't rejoice.
[Malleck] Only if you
let me have the last word.
[Baxter] Ow! the Yaguans will kill me
before you do Gruesome.
Hope they've got an antidote.
[Kai] Get me out of here first
[Baxter] You'll need an antidote from me
if you don't shut up!
[Kai] the only antidote
for a fool is another fool.
[Gruesome] Still sure
about getting a bomb
instead of the Black Book?
[Baxter] If you get between
me and the Yaguan's arrows
I'll feel a lot better.
[Gruesome] Ahh! (arrow thud)
I owe you this one
Baxter, for old time's sake.
[Baxter] Maybe now
you'll shut up Gruesome.
[Gruesome] It's Grissum, Grissum.
Ahh Ahh.
[Kai] One down, one to go.
Are we there yet?
[Baxter] They're gaining on us.
Just hope they don't sound the drum.
[Kai] what does it mean?
[Baxter] They found their lunch,
Us.
[Kai] Primitives always
eat the ugly guy first.
[Baxter] No way, they'll eat you first,
they prefer fresh meat.
[Kai] This wouldn't be so hard
if you weren't so ugly and old.
[Baxter] This wouldn't have happened
if you weren't here.
[Kai] They're on fire!
[Baxter] No they carry fires with them
in the vein hope of
restoring it to this island.
The Sphinx's curse
won't let fire burn here.
[Kai] Could the lost Mantle save us?
[Baxter] If you believe
in a Magic Mantle kid,
nothing can save us now.
(water splashing)
(Dramatic Music)
(Dramatic Music)
(rising Music)
(sticks thud)
(sticks thud)
(sticks thud)
[Mequine] You fool!
You have survived only to die.
Malleck let you steal forgeries.
Your men died in vain.
(figurine thud)
[Priest] Ahh! (wood scrape)
Ahh!
[Mequine] Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] Hope your
Soothsayer finds you soon.
I may not be alive
to look after you much longer.
(drums thumping)
[Mequine] Now to
this unexpected surprise.
To what do we owe the
pleasure of your company.
[Mequine] Those about
to be eaten, are not guests.
[Baxter] That explains why everyone
claims to be your friends.
[Mequine] Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Maru] Only a man guided by a Soothsayer
could have escaped our warriors.
They must be here to trick us.
[Mequine] You must forgive Maru.
When my daughter's hungry,
she becomes fickle.
[Maru] And as your people,
we suffer great shame,
living in the land of fires
without fire.
[Mequine] I struggle to find a reason
why I should not give you and the boy
as an appeasement to our gods.
Perhaps we should let
the arrow in you decide.
The effect of it's venom is curious,
If you're lucky before you die
you will even believe Maru loves you.
[Baxter] And if I'm unlucky?
[Mequine] I give you to her in marriage.
(romantic music)
[Maru] And I'll make sure you
spend the rest of our marriage,
wishing you'd become
a sacrifice to our gods.
[Baxter] I'm sure your
gods would be more appeased
with a kid's sacrifice.
After all
I know where the Arrows are.
[Mequine] Sacred Arrows?
Now your intentions are revealed.
[Kai] Don't listen to him.
Baxter you mad man, so do I.
[Baxter] How about the antidote?
[Mequine] What antidote?
[Baxter] Poison arrow?
In my arm? killing me.
Ahh. (arrow swish)
[Mequine] Maru!
[Maru] (spit sound)
Disgusting.
[Mequine] She doesn't think much of you.
The boy can get the arrows,
be thankful they are not the Sacred ones
or you'd already be damned.
Can you really get the Arrows?
I thought not.
Time for your man making ceremony.
Oh no you don't.
Tell me where they are,
and I'll go.
[Mequine] Go?,
And how will we pass on our stories
when we don't have your
skin to write them on?
Your story will resonate
with all enslaved creatures.
[Kai] But if I get the arrows,
it'll be a happy ending?
[Mequine] Alas! there will
be no happy ending for you.
Mr Quatoo Tattoo
will burn the story onto your skin.
Unfortunately, we have no fire.
He must cut rather than burn.
[Kai] Baxter I'm too young to die!
[Baxter] Don't be like that kid,
I appreciate you coming along.
[Portould] We lost
Baxter in the Land of Fires.
[Pilate] You fool!
Now I wish you'd been killed.
Give me the gun.
[Portould] It's unreliable.
[Pilate] As unreliable as you?
I don't think so.
You're the one that'll get hurt
if you're wrong.
[Portould] One more chance Pilate.
[Portould] If I was in the tomb
you wouldn't have to fire the Arrows.
[Pilate] You have them?
[Portould] I'll have them soon.
[Pilate] You will be
in the tomb if you don't.
[Mequine] You see Mr Baxter,
the curse of the Sphinx
blinded man's eyes to
the power of the Arrows.
No one defied the Sphinx and lived.
[Quatoo] Shhh!
My God is speaking.
[Meguine] Begin the execution dance!
[Baxter] Who's the victim?
[Mequine] ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! You.
If the gods favor you,
you will be spared.
And this will be your wedding ceremony.
Hmm
[Baxter] Dead or married?
Tough call.
[Unshar] You won't be saying
that on your wedding night.
[{Meguine] 'Hunis Decanton'.
[Gretin as Maru] I can only love you
if you love me more openly than I love you.
[Baxter] You'll have to get
used to living without my love.
[Mequine] You may wish to be kinder
then her last husband.
[Baxter] He's the lucky one.
[Mequine] Yours will run
out sooner, rather than later.
[{Gretin as Maru] You
could pretend to love me.
[Baxter] It would be
easier to pretend to hate you.
Get to the camp,
release the kid before Pilate gets to him.
You can pretend to care
about me another time.
[Maru] Don't flatter
yourself, it's not believable.
[Pilate] You're already as good as dead,
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] Ahh!
[Pilate] ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Only your own ghost
visiting you will save you now.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
So, tell me where Anfisa's boy is.
(Baxter) Aghh.
Aghh.
Aghh.
Aghh.
[Kai] Untie me.
[Maru] Something's happened to Baxter.
[Kai] What do you care?
You come to me because you want something,
whilst Baxter's off saving himself.
[Maru] You're right,
I don't care.
Hurry up and die.
[Kai] Don't leave me here.
[Maru] Promise me you'll return here,
with the Sacred Arrows,
and my father may exchange them
for the Mantle.
[Kai] Okay, I'll try.
[Maru] You promised me.
[Kai] Your father can't
exchange the Mantle for the Arrows,
unless Pilate's here.
[Maru] He is here,
so why are you?
[Kai] He must be unaware
of the Mantle's power,
or be unable to use it.
[Mequine] Are you betraying me daughter?
[Portould] Show us
where the Sacred Arrows are,
or we'll damn your soul as well.
[Mequine] Oh, I doubt
that boy will return with them.
But if I convince him
his mother avoid capture,
and I know where she is then...
[Portould]...No one will
suspect that we have the Arrows.
Your life depends on this.
[Mequine] I'll bring the cloak
for the boy to exchange for the Arrows.
[Mequine] That cloak, might prove useful.
[Portould] I've checked,
and Meguine doesn't have the Arrows.
[Pilate] Then Baxter will
die like the traitor he is.
[Baxter] Ask my wife where they are
she won't tell me.
[Pilate] Ask her yourself,
she's in there with you.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
[Baxter] I'd tell you to go to hell
if you weren't there already.
[Gretin] Only since
I've been married to you.
[Maru] Kai has disappeared.
[Baxter] The kid? Probably killed by now,
so you'll need me to get your silly Arrows.
[Maru] I can do it
how much are you offering?
Ohh.
[Maru] And if I refuse?,
He's nothing to me.
If it wasn't for me, he'd be dead already.
The only thing sacred to him,
is him.
[Pilate] You won't miss her.
[Baxter] Okay okay!
The kid's in the camp.
[Maru] Baxter I didn't
think you had it in you.
[Baxter] I just don't like the boy.
Aghh!
Aghh.
[Baxter] Aghhhhhhh.
[Maru] I knew you'd say it.
[Baxter] I didn't say I loved you.
[Baxter] Ahh Aghh!
[Gretin] Portould! Portould!
Portould!
[Baxter] If you'd
convinced Kai to come here,
we wouldn't have to waste
our time coming here too.
[Maru] Look up,
Kai keeps his promises to me.
Now let's find the Arrows
and get out of here before
we get caught or killed.
[Malleck] Gruesome
- [Baxter as Gruesome]
You're expecting someone else?
[Malleck] Did Pilate die well?
[Baxter as Gruesome] It's Grissum
[Malleck] yes yes but what of my brother?
Did Pilate die well?
[Maru] Not as well as you will.
[Baxter as Gruesome] We've put
your Black Book with Sacred Arrows.
[Malleck] Black Book? Hmm.
This way, after you.
Betraying me as you betrayed your master,
was to be expected.
[Maru] Huh! that fool.
[Baxter] He's not that bad.
Huh.
No wonder people stay away from church.
[Malleck] I'm going to
send you with the Sphinx
into the furnace
from the Land of the Fires.
[Baxter] Well you won't want this then.
[Malleck] Who sent you with this?
[Malleck reads Piates letter]
'Malleck, convey the Arrows away'
'there is a plot afoot by Pilate's men',
'seeking the Sacred Arrows'.
The days my brother
would join me for a drink.
Are long gone.
Hmm.
Now he's dead.
And you
are masquerading as your dead servants.
Why?
[Baxter] You made my men betray me
with your empty promises.
[Malleck] So,
the master masquerading as his servants.
So this note cannot be from Unshar.
And Pilate's death, a deception.
[Baxter] Destroying the
Sphinx would guarantee
Pilate never dies.
[Malleck] I'll make sure you
won't be around to see that.
(Harp crescendo)
(footsteps crunching)
(sea splashing)
(cloak thuds)
(birds twitter)
(sea splashing)
(cloak ruffle)
(music accent)
(cloak ruffle)
(birds twitter)
(boat knocking)
(sea splashing)
(footsteps crunching)
[Mequine] Now you can
see (footsteps crunching)
I know where your mother is,
(cloak ruffle)
give me those Arrows and you'll see her.
[Kai] How do I know
you haven't killed her?
(cloak thud)
[Mequine] Could this be
the very cloak of miracles?
[Kai] What have you done with my mother?
[Mequine] Are you still expecting me
to keep my word?
The World doesn't work like that boy.
You've shown you're willing
to sacrifice yourself
for something more worthwhile.
So die like a man
[Kai] Aghh. (stones
(stones crunching)
(footsteps running)
(gravel crunching)
(sword knocking)
Ahh (swords clash)
Ahh (swords scrape)
Aghh. (swords clash)
(swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghhhh. (swords clash)
(footsteps crunch)
Ahh. (swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghh. (swords clash)
Aghh (swords clash)
Uh! (sword stabs)
(birds tweeting)
(sword falls)
(cloak thud)
(sword withdrawn)
(water lapping)
(stones crunch)
[Kai] You've been
collaborating with Pilate
all along.
[Mequine] Compared to
the Lost Mantle of Elijah,
those Arrows are as worthless
as you are (birds twitter)
for believing in a worthless Soothsayer.
(stones crunch)
(body thud)
(stones crunching)
[Mequine] And you are?
[Soothsayer] A worthless soothsayer.
Those the world deem worthless
are valuable to me.
(sword swipe)
[Mequine] The Sacred
Arrows in Pilate's hands
will ensure the King's ghost
is the only part of him
left remaining on this Earth.
[Soothsayer] The power of the
Mantle can only be given, not taken.
(sword tings)
You will join Pilate stalking the Earth
without processing it. (flames roar)
(birds tweeting)
[Mequine] Remember me, King.
[Soothsayer] You're
going to the other place.
(rising music)
[Mequine] ah ahhhhhhh.
(music rises)
(dogs growl)
(music rises)
[Baxter] Release us.
Only we can stop Pilate
destroying everything.
The curse will be just the beginning.
[Malleck] The words of
the righteous are known
before they are spoken
yours are not.
[Baxter] Wait
The Sacred Arrows are gone
they won't be rejected as fakes this time.
Pilate's other self is alive
outside the dream world
in the form of this Sphinx.
(dogs growl)
[Malleck] Pilate
manifesting as the Sphinx
is as believable as
Pilate being Elijah himself
[Baxter] Well someone
is preventing the King
from redeeming lost souls,
someone you're as helpless against
as you are against your own self.
[Malleck] Only Elijah's God
sending fire from the heavens
will help you now.
(music)
[Anfisa] Aghh! (hand slap)
Aghh.
I don't know where he is.
I don't know where he is.
[Portould] I don't think you do either
but he's not my son,
and I'm not the one you need to impress.
[Anfisa] I don't know where he is.
[Gretin] Nice try.
No pass no board.
[Soothsayer] I have a pass.
[Gretin] Won't be valid,
else there'll be painful consequences.
I'll gladly get on board
[Soothsayer] if it is less
painful than looking at you
[Gretin] You're less
likely to be ransacked
if I relieve you of your silver.
[Soothsayer] Just so.
[Gretin] oh oh ah!
Ruthless old man betray a boy.
I like your style.
[Soothsayer] Pilate seeks this boy
I've come to collect his reward.
[Portould] Who arrived in that boat?
[Gretin] Well he's over there
and I know something else.
He is the soothsayer.
Ahh!
Aghh.
Did you pull me from the pit
to ring my neck with your own bare hands?
[Portould] What else?
[Gretin] He's got the boy.
Agh.
[Portould] Get below.
I'll find out who this
soothsayer really is.
[Soothsayer] You
wouldn't want your friends
to be destroyed like you were
Just because we failed
to take the Sacred Arrows off Pilate.
[Kai] If it means my mother
remains captive here, yes.
[Gretin] You must have been desperate
to be tricked by an old fool.
I get paid a percentage
to get people out of here.
[Gretin] I can do you a good deal.
[Kai] I'm not that easily fooled, fool.
[Gretin] If he's really the Soothsayer
why has he been working for Pilate
damning souls for years?
[Kai] You're wrong.
[Gretin] If I'm wrong.
That isn't your mother dying down below.
[Kai] Here?
How?
[Gretin] All betray all
before crying their last.
[Gretin] Aghh
Aghh.
Ahh.
[Soothsayer] We must leave.
Attempting to take
the Sacred Arrows off Pilate
is a great enough risk
without seeking your mother as well.
[Kai] You won't stop me
going back for her again!
Maybe this fool was right about you!
[Soothsayer] Kai.
I must return to the unseen world.
Remember,
I am with you.
(Music)
[Portould] Anfisa is dead.
Tell me where her son
is or you will join her.
[Soothsayer] You're
making a foolish mistake
believing this life is all there is.
[Pilate] Only if I believed
you to be a soothsayer.
[Soothsayer] Have those you murdered
begun to haunt you so soon?
[Pilate] Your handful of followers
will need more than faith
to believe you ever lived.
They'll need a miracle.
Where did this squeal come from?
[Portould] What would break this drought
if Elijah was forbidden to wear the Mantle?
[Pilate] Anfisa's son.
So, Kai is master of the Mantle now.
The boy must not escape.
[Gretin] I'm rich.
[Portould] Having thirty silver coins
doesn't stop you
from being worthless.
Which way did he go?
[Gretin] He went that way.
[Kai] No!
Kundi When Dunis.
You were right.
What use is believing
in a Mantle of miracles
when I've not performed a single one?
If only you were still alive.
I know where Malleck the Sorcerer is.
[Portould] Come on boy
revenge your damn mother.
(canon blast)
(fire crackling)
(ocean splashes)
(canon blast)
(fire crackling)
(music flutes)
[Kai] I'll be back.
[Portould] I must be seen to destroy you.
But if you serve me
Pilate will never need to know.
(music descending)
[Pilate] Now, strike the
Sacred Arrows on the ground.
(arrows strike)
(drone hum)
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
The unseen world
and my other self become
more visible. (arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
Aim these Arrows
at Malleck's damn Black
Church. (arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
Now!
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
[Portould] What about the tomb?
(arrows strike)
What will you become
if the Sphinx is destroyed?
(arrows strike)
He seems to become you, by the hour.
(arrows strike)
(arrows strike)
(music crescendo)
(canon whoosh)
(canon explosion)
(music theme)
(debris smashes)
[Malleck] When I see
suffering in the world, I rejoice.
[Baxter] Not for long you won't.
You have one chance of getting
your book and Arrows
back Malleck, (dogs growl)
Me.
(debris smashes)
(chain clashing)
(chain clashing)
(dogs growling)
(chain clashing)
(pin chimes)
(stone grating)
(slab grinding)
(slab grinding)
(fire roaring)
[Maru] The Sphinx will not stop
until it enslaves the
World. (chain clinking)
(slab grinding)
(slab grinding)
(chain scraping)
[Maru] Huh ah. (explosion crack)
Oh oh. (explosion crack)
Ah Oh (chain scraping)
oh oh oh (music crescendo)
Ah oh. (slab grinding)
(fire explosion)
(whirlpool roar)
(drone hum)
[Portould] If I damn that damn Sphinx
before it takes over, Pilate.
Damn, damn, damn
[Pilate] You manifest what you fear
by fearing what I will become.
Destroy the tomb now!
[Sphinx] Your stolen Arrows are returned
ensuring by entering
the afterlife (fire roaring)
in the form of Pilate's others elf!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! (fire explosion)
[Baxter] Give me your
hand. (fire crackling)
[Maru] If I do that
I'll fall. (fire roars)
I can't hold on much longer! (fire roars)
[Baxter] You've got
to let go (fire roars)
if you don't want to die.
[Maru] You'd enjoy that Baxter.
[Baxter] If you don't give me your hand
you better believe God
will raise you from the dead.
[Maru] We cannot deny my father's gods
their appeasement.
Our marriage is false.
[Baxter] You must love me
you're way too angry with me
[Maru] Ha, that'd give
you a lot of satisfaction.
[Baxter] Sorry to deny you
the satisfaction of rescuing me this time.
[Maru] I tried too hard last time.
I led you here to get you killed.
(fire roar)
[Malleck] My father's gods were cheated
out of their sacrifice.
For us, they'll be hell to pay.
(music ascending)
You're a little too late,
but never too early for sacrifice.
[Kai] Then better show
the gods I serve them.
[Malleck] Then serve them! (music theme)
(music theme)
(sword strike)
Ahh. (sword scrape)
(sword scrape)
Aghh.
(sword scrape)
Ah, uh.
(sword scrape)
Agh no Ahhh. (sword scrape)
Agh no Ahhh. (sword scrape)
Ahh.
Ahh. (sword scrape)
Ah.
Ahhh!
(sword scrape)
ah ah. (hit thud)
- Aghh.
- [Malleck]
(music accent)
Ah.
Agh. (Music fanfare)
Ah.
(music rising)
Ah.
(sword strikes)
(dogs growl)
(sword strike)
[Kai] Baxter, the soothsayer told me
you were in danger.
But the only reason I'm here is...
[Baxter] ...if it's about
me agreeing to your hanging
[Kai] ...is that I
realized you can help me
bring back my mother
[Baxter] Anfisa?
No.
Can you get us out of here Kai?
[Kai] My help,
...asking for my help Baxter?
[Baxter] Given the circumstances, yes.
[Kai] And will you
help me save my mother?
[Baxter] Try and stop me.
[Kai] Deal.
(music rises)
(cloak swishes)
[Malleck] Wow ah ah ah
ah ah! (chariot whooshes)
(music crescendo)
(chariot creaking)
(horse neighs)
(fire roaring)
(horses galloping)
(explosion smash)
(horse neighs)
[Baxter] Dying, isn't what it used to be.
(horses galloping)
(exploding swoosh)
(gravel grating)
(chariot swish)
[Maru] The Yaguans are helping us
because of my father's lost cloak.
[Kai] The Mantle, it's gone!
[Baxter] Helping us?
When you get shot
there'll be no antidote from me.
[Maru] So you were hoping I'd leave you?
[Baxter] Makes no sense
for both of us to get hurt
[Maru] Then it won't
hurt to tell me to stay.
[Baxter] I'm not
gonna tell you I love you
When you want me dead.
[Maru] I only hurt the ones I love.
Your luck has to run out sooner or later.
(music crescendo)
(drums patter)
(music accent)
(underwater bubbling)
(waves splashing)
[Portould] It's too
easy killing you Baxter.
(canon crack)
(explosion swoosh)
(explosion splash)
[Maru] Baxter, no one
will kill you before I do.
[Baxter] Mersin the
Siren (underwater bubbling)
coming for the Mantle,
(ghost ohh)
and to lure me at last to my death.
[Portould] The land of the fires burns.
(music accent)
I cannot see the tomb.
(timpani bangs)
(music strings)
Ohhh. (underwater bubbling)
(punch thud)
[Malleck] Ohhh.
(punch thud)
[Baxter] Ohhh.
[Malleck] ohh. (punch thud)
[Baxter] Ohhh. (punch thud)
[Malleck] Aghh. (punch thud)
Aghh. (punch thud)
[Malleck] Ohh.
(ocean splashing)
(electricity buzz)
[Sphinx] Malleck's sacrifice
merged Pilate's other self into mine.
Now, with seeing eyes
I will witness the King's tomb destroyed,
Causing the World, (underwater bubbling)
to look to me,
to save them from
themselves. (electricity buzz)
The boy, you let him
escape. (electricity buzz)
[Portould] (choking)
[Portould] (breathing)
[Kai] Quendi Khun Dunis. (music brass)
(music fanfare)
(water splashing)
(wood knocking)
(water splashing)
(music fanfare)
(timpani banging)
(whirlpool splashing)
[Elijah as Sphinx] Aim
the Arrows at the tomb now!
[Portould] It was the
soothsayer all along.
(galley creaking)
The King isn't in the tomb anymore.
(galley creaking)
(music crescendo)
[Portould] He's come back to destroy us!
(ocean splashing)
[Sphinx] Not before escaping the hell,
my God has prepared for him.
[Portould] Uh! (sword stab)
Uh.
(galley creaking)
(body thud)
(music crescendo)
(sword clashing)
(galley creaking)
(whirlpool crescendo)
[Malleck] You have no soul Sphinx,
(galley creaking)
and this Black Book is useless to you.
(galley creaking)
(sword strike)
(sword scrape)
(sword strike)
(whirlpool roar)
(music accent)
[Sphinx] You only reflect me.
(galley creaking)
(music strings)
(water splashing)
[Kai] The Galley is taking my mother
into the whirlpool of Absalom.
(water splashing)
(galley creaking)
(water splashing)
(cloak thud)
(mantle shuffling)
(water splashing)
(ocean roars)
(galley creaking)
(galley hums)
[Malleck] I will have the last word.
(galley creaking)
(cloak thud)
(galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] Elijah, come
out where I can see you
and I will pass before
you. (galley creaking)
[Elijah] So the King I killed is risen.
(galley creaking)
We are both transformed. (galley creaking)
You cannot kill me if I'm already dead,
nor damn me if I have
no soul. (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] Your
others elf is beyond your reach,
but still within mine.
[Elijah] You lost your life to
save slaves (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] It's a different
world to when you were here.
(galley creaking)
[Elijah] Only through my nightmares
can you reach Pilate now.
(piano bang)
(ocean splash)
[Soothsayer] You're
not even looking at me
with your own eyes.
[Elijah] If Pilate had not
killed you (galley creaking)
you could not have risen
from the dead. (galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] securing
Grace (galley creaking)
for the world,
required a price to be paid.
[Elijah] Is there anything to forgive
because Pilate carried out your will?
If so,
be satisfied with thirty pieces of silver.
(galley creaking)
If you require payment.
(trumpet blast)
[Soothsayer] I extend Grace
even to my enemies. (man screaming)
(trumpet crescendo)
[Elijah] Then you will return
my Mantle
and work miracles through me.
(galley creaking)
[Soothsayer] It is foolish
to wish for that which will destroy you.
(music crescendo)
(deep rumble)
[Elijah] I will not be
unfaithful to my calling,
by joining those I was sent to destroy.
(low rumble)
Those who covet the Mantle.
[Soothsayer] The
Mantle's power is irrelevant
should you resist my
Grace (galley creaking)
offered to those like
Kai. (galley creaking)
[Elijah] No!
(galley creaking)
Only I was spared death.
[Soothsayer] Only you can
decide how to spend eternity.
(galley creaking)
Only you can prevent
being torn from within.
(music crescendo)
[Elijah] No!
(explosion blast)
(explosion blast)
(horses neigh)
(ocean roars)
[Baxter] Come on Kai!
(cloak thud)
[Kai] My Mantle.
(cloak ruffle)
(water splashing)
(explosion blast)
(water splashing)
(galley roars)
(water splashing)
(deep rumble)
[Anfisa] It's you, it's really you.
(music fanfare)
[Kai] We've got to go, come on.
(deep rumble)
(water splashing)
(water exploding)
(galley roaring)
(water exploding)
(music fanfare)
(drums shuffling)
[Maru] Well, you're still alive Baxter,
but you can't escape my gods.
(drums shuffling)
[Baxter] Can your gods save my ship?
(ocean splash)
[Kai] Without the
Mantle to raise your ship,
we're stranded.
[Anfisa] You still don't
believe? (drums shuffling)
(drums shuffling)
[Baxter] If I told you
you wouldn't believe me.
(gravel crunching)
[Anfisa] Then why don't you just show
what you do believe?
[Maru] He believes in
himself. (drums shuffling)
Couldn't even tell me he
loved me. (drums shuffling)
Couldn't even die for me. (drums shuffling)
And after all I've done
for you, (drums shuffling)
after all those times I saved
your life. (drums shuffling)
This marriage to you is worth nothing.
(music theme)
And at the end of it,
I won't even get half of your ship.
[Baxter] Ship?
Huh. (cloth strike)
huh.
Loving,
Isn't what it used to be.
(music crescendo)
[Maru] haha haha haha.
[Baxter] haha haha haha.
[Maru] haha haha haha.
[Baxter] haha haha haha.
[Anfisa] haha haha haha.
[Maru] haha haha.
[Baxter] The only person
to gain from the Mantle now,
was the mermaid siren, Mersin,
who has the lost Mantle.
It's only a matter of time (music fanfare)
before she lures Elijah (music fanfare)
to return to take it
from her. (music fanfare)
I wish he'd died (music fanfare)
(music fanfare)
(music theme)
