[mysterious instrumental]
[muffled screaming]
[woman] Stop!
[screaming]

[water trickling]
[sizzling]
Hello?
[voice echoing]
Anybody here?
[voice echoing]
Hey!
[voice echoing]
[woman] How did I get here?
Why am I all alone?
Where are the other survivors?
[soft nostalgic instrumental]
After the pandemic hit,
in less than a month,
more than a billion people had died.
Everything happened so quick.
Bodies just started to pile up everywhere.
Where did the dead bodies go?
The great and final war began right after,
and millions more would die.
Total chaos ensued.
The world collapsed.
[water rushing]

[clattering]

[creaking]
[soft guitar melody]
[woman] When I was a year old,
my parents died in
a horrible car accident.
My grandparents raised me.
Grandpa would make me walk
all the way here with him,
to his little cabin, his favorite
place in the world.

Under this tree, which he named
the Tree of Life,
he would tell me all these magical stories
of other planets,
the infinite universe,
and the beauty of life.
The opposite of
the destruction we created.
Why am I alive?
Maybe I'm dead.
I'm a ghost living in my purgatory.
I have no name anymore.
What use can it have in this empty world?
I'm nothing.
I'm dust on the road.
[gasps, panting]
[metal squeaking]
[ominous instrumental]
[woman] For a while, there was
a fog that had a strange odor,
like nothing I've ever smelled before.
Then, one day, the fog began to go away,
and with it that weird smell.
Anything that required gas
didn't work afterwards.
[metal squeaking]

Hello?

[muffled] I spent so much time with you.
You were the voice of reason.
You...
You fed me so many lies.
I don't know who I am.
We stopped talking to each other.
Because you were the focus.
You told us what we needed
to think, and who we were.
You became the god
we so desperately needed.
[panting]
[gagging]
[grunting]
[groaning]
[gagging]
[deep exhale]
[groaning]
[radio crackling]
[woman] During the last days
of the final war,
while I was working at the hospital,
in the middle of all the craziness,
I felt a bright white light shine upon me.
Next thing I knew, I woke up in the middle
of a lake on a small blue boat.
What happened?
How much time went by?
I'm not sure.
[distant screaming, explosions]
When the beings arrived,
many thought it was their god
coming to save them.
People cheered their arrival,
especially all the zealots.
But soon, we all realized that
they were here to exterminate us.
And why not?
We've been nothing more than
a disease to this planet.
A cancer slowly killing
everything that we touch.
Our time was up.
[suspenseful music]
[music intensifies]
[heart beating rapidly]
[breathing shakily]
[ominous instrumental]
[groaning]
[whimpering]
[grunting]
[grunting]
I will not.
I can't bring another
human being into this world.
[whispering voice] You are dead.
You're dead.
You're a ghost.
You are a ghost.
Ghost.
[indistinct Spanish]
Soy un fantasma.
[ominous instrumental intensifies]
[grunting]
[woman] This makes no sense.
For years with Marco,
and we never got pregnant.
And now I'm pregnant?
I thought I couldn't.
This is impossible.
I'm the last woman who should be bringing
another human into this world.
How am I going to take care of this child?
This is insane.
[sobbing]
- This is insane.
[sobbing]
Marco and I fought that night to
the point that I questioned
my own existence.
I didn't want him to
give his life defending
the corporations that
were killing us, the planet.
He believed that he
was fighting for our country.
For our way of life.
He was so brainwashed.
That day he rushed out of
the house like he always did.
Didn't even say goodbye.
But two hours later, he came back
and told me that things
were about to get very ugly,
and that he was not sure
if he was coming back.
Then he just kissed me.
And we made love like animals.
Between my screams and tears
he got up and left.
That was the last time I saw him.
[melancholy music]
[whispering]
Was that three months ago?
Yes.
Yes, that was it.

[calm instrumental]

[woman]
How am I going to give birth?
What about any possible complications?
We could both die.
The end of the world
didn't take me, but this will?
No. It cannot be.
I have to get everything ready.
I have to.
If we survive this,
I gotta make sure we're fed.
[ominous instrumental]

[whistling]
[dog panting]
[woman] After the beings arrived
animals began to disappear,
and then one day, just like that,
they were all gone.
Where did they go?
I don't know.
It's impossible to know.
Why is he here?
And how did he survive this insanity?
[whistling]
[whistling]
[inspiring instrumental]
[chuckling]
Hey.
[barking]

[dog whimpering]
Where did he come from?
It's so strange to feel hope.
I forgot about this feeling.
But I must be more alert now.
[barking]
- Here, here.
His arrival could come with a price.
[barking]
- Good boy.
Hey. Hey.
[chuckling]
What are you doing?
What do you want?
Oh. This?
[chuckling] Hey, hey, here.
[laughing]
Hey, let's go.
Here.
- [barking]
He looks like a wolf.
Como un lobo.

[panting]
[whispering] What was that?
[scoffing]
How did it survive?
Let's go.
[distant barking]
[creaking]
[woman] I can still smell his stench.
Almost hear his disgusting voice.
I don't regret killing him.
The pain he caused needed to disappear.
[frame thudding against floor]
[whispering voice]
You're a ghost.
[sniffling]
[indistinct whispering]
[indistinct whispering]
[indistinct whispering]
[distant barking]
You're still here.
The only thing that brought me
happiness in this filthy place.
[vocalizing]

[ominous instrumental]
[Lobo whimpering]
[footsteps echoing]
[distant barking]

[heavy breathing]
[woman] This piece of paper
was the number one reason
humanity came to an end.
This paper dictated who was happy or not.
Who could live or not.
Who could have or not.
The world ended so quick that money
became insignificant.
And here it is.
Utterly useless.
[gasps]
[wood creaking]
[heart beating]
[creaking intensifies]
[distant barking]
[barking]

[heavy breathing]
[distant wind rustling]
[distant barking]
Who are you?
[light scoffing]
Why are you still here?
[unimpressed chuckle]
You should be dead.
You piece of shit.
[whispering voice, echoing]
Piece of shit.
You don't belong here.
- Hm?
[whispering voice, echoing]
You're not gonna make it.
Hm? What do you want?
[whispering voice, echoing]
Freak.
What do you want from me?
[whispering voice, echoing]
Kill yourself.
Kill. Yourself.
[whimpering] Mm-mm.
You don't belong here.
You never did.
[moaning, grunting]
You've done enough.
[whispering voice indistinct]
- [panicked grunting]
You've done enough!
You've had enough! Stop!
Just stop! Stop! Stop! Shut up!

[woman] Little by little, more birds
have been showing up.
Where are they coming from?
Where have they been?
I think it's a good sign.
Yes!
We did it.
This should work.
Vamos, Lobo.
Come on.
Come on.
[barking]
[sighs]
[grunting]
[deep exhale]
[barking]
Lobo!
Hey, no! Deja!
Lobo! Hey, no!
No, no, no.
[Lobo whimpering]
- Good boy.
Vamos, Lobo.
[chuckling]
[speaking Spanish]
[distant barking]
[Lobo whimpering]
I'm here. I'm here.
Lobo. Lobo.
Lobo.
[birds chirping]
[barking]
Lobo, stay.
Hello?
Hola?
[mumbling]
[barking]
[mellow guitar melody]
[grunting in effort]
[fire crackling]
[woman] My grandpa would
tell me that my hands
looked like my grandma's.
I thought that meant my hands looked old,
but now I'm so thankful
I inherited her hands.
Her hands of knowledge, makers of food.
Thank you, Grandma.

[whimpering]
[chuckling]

Lobo.
Lobo!
[thunder rolling]
[thunder crackling]

Lobo!
Lobo!
We have to follow the river.
All the way back to the cabin.
We're gonna find Lobo.
[sullen instrumental]
Yes, we can do this.
[grunting]
[grunting]

[woman] It's incredible that I traveled
all that distance...
but that's the way home.
[wind rustling]
[grunting]
[door creaks, slams shut]
[whispering voice]
It's your fault.
[grunting]
Kill yourself.
Kill yourself.
[panting]
[chuckling]

[engine turning over]
[laughing]

[grunting]
[grunting in effort]
[crickets chirping, frogs croaking]
Lobo!
Lobo!
[melancholy music]
Lobo!

Lobo!
[whistling]

[woman] I had to come
and say goodbye to him.
I have to get used to the idea
that I'll never see him again.
But it's too hard.
Can he forgive me?
I think he would.
[sighing]
In his eyes, I saw the
closest thing to God's eyes.
And if there's a God, he forgives.
Right?

[ominous melody]
[quiet humming]

[majestic instrumental]
[ethereal choir]
[woman] No.
I don't think he ever really loved me.
An excuse he had,
he would leave to his job.
I hated it.
Sometimes he would leave for months.
Yeah.
I guess that is one of the
reasons why we lasted so long.
Our dysfunctional addiction to each other.
I'm scared to death.
There are so many things
that can go wrong.
I wish I knew what they want.
Why are they keeping us alive?
I keep dreaming
that I'm on another planet
where everything is so peaceful.
And there's this woman...
she appears and touches my tummy
and tells me,
"You are the source."
Then I wake up.
Yes. I agree.
We should stay close to the cabin.
Plus, I barely fit on the bike.
I feel it moving.
Like he's ready to get out
and see this world.
[sighs]
[woman] We gotta look for Lobo.
[door creaks, slams shut]
We gotta do this.
I'm not going crazy.
[melancholy melody]
Stop saying that!
Of course I am.
You know what?
You're staying. I'll go alone.
You don't get it.

You can't do it alone.
[inspiring instrumental]
[distant rumbling]
What the hell is that?
[daunting melody building]

[grunge music]

[bubbling]
[panting]
[grunting]
[eerie music]
[panting]
[gagging, coughing]
[panting]
[grunting]
[sobbing]
I didn't have to see that.
Why are you keeping us alive?
What the...
We're nothing.
We're nothing.
We're nothing.
[grunting]
We gotta calm down, right?
We gotta calm down.
[panting]
We're gonna be fine.
[gagging, coughing]
[groaning]
[panting]
[approaching steps]
[calm melody]
[distant panting]
Lobo!
[barking]
Lobo!
[laughing]
Hey, where were you?
Where were you?
I'm sorry.
[speaking Spanish]
Let's go. Come on. Vamos.
Lobo! Let's get out of here.

[woman] Where did he go?
And that rope on his neck?
What the hell?
[birds tweeting]
Aww.
Lobo. [Smooching]

[birds tweeting]
Lobo!
Lobo!

[baby crying]
[woman panting]
[baby crying]
[birds chirping]
[baby cooing]
[woman cooing]
[woman whistling]
[woman cooing]
Lobo.
[woman] When did we start
to hate ourselves
to the point that we sacrificed
our own existence?
When did our egos take over
and make greed and consumption a priority?
We forgot to truly connect with Earth,
to love each other,
to grow in harmony with
the laws of the universe.
As I look at my child,
I feel the planet speaking to me,
showing me through him
the map of the universe.
We are all connected
in such a profound way
that if one of us hurts, we all do.
[barking]
- Lobo!
Lobo!
Lobo! Hey!
[distant barking]
[ominous music]
[barking]
[baby crying]
