Unsheltered (2022) Movie Script

[thematic music]
I think I'm gonna start from
over here, if that's all right.
We rolling?
All right, let me know
when you're ready because
these mosquitoes are no fucking joke, man.
Okay.
Now?
Okay, good.
[clears throat]
In three, two...
Behind me here is the now
infamous Kruger Airplane scrap yard.
This place, which has now been determined,
the scene of a potentially
gruesome multiple homicide
is where many questions
still remain unanswered.
The story of five college
students on the backdrop
of one of the nation's most
catastrophic storms in history
took a mysterious and
very dark turn on the evening
leading up to Hurricane Irma's landfall.
Following evacuation routes
they somehow ended up
along the desolate road that
leads to this aviation junkyard.
And that's where the questions begin.
How did they plan to ride out the
storm? Who else knew they were here?
How were there signs of struggle yet
almost little to no forensic evidence?
For now, the five
students have been entered
into the missing persons database.
But officials say one
shouldn't rule out foul play.
Reporting live, Christian Rivera,
Channel 5 News.
Got it? How was that?
[TV news in the background]
Look at that thing.
Because we have to
record everything in 2017
let me take you along
with us to North Carolina.
-Hey.
-[Ana] Hey.
You know, if the path continues,
it's going to sweep up the East Coast
right up to Maryland.
-[Ana] Really?
-Yep.
[Ana] And what spaghetti
weather map did you find this on?
-Facebook.
-[Ana laughing] Facebook.
Aaron's sucking on sour
grapes because he's driving.
Hey, only up to Gainesville.
[Ana] Yeah, sure.
[Ana] Emily?
Emily?
What?
-[Ana] Say hi.
-No.
[Ana] You are so rude.
What do you want?
[Ana] Just say hi to the camera.
Like this isn't funny.
I don't even know why
you think it's so funny.
[Ana] Because we're going on a road trip.
This isn't a road trip,
we're like evacuating.
-[Ana] Really?
-Yeah, really.
[Ana] Um, how long have
you been here, again?
Why do you need to know?
[Ana] Because just tell me.
Umm, 7 years.
[Ana] Yeah, so you weren't here
for all the other hurricanes?
So?
-[Ana] They're nothing.
-Are you serious it's nothing?
-[Ana] Yes, I'm telling you.
Okay, where is Aaron. Aaron?
Just checking the plugs,
topping everything off.
[Emily] Aaron come on, hurry up.
We still gotta do Mo's thing.
-That's where we're going.
-[Ana] Calm down.
Alright. Come on let's go.
[Aaron] Ready.
[keys jingling]
[engine starts]
-[Aaron] Here we go.
-[Ana] And we're on the road.
[Emily] You have your seat belt on, right?
[Ana] I do now, Mom.
[Ana] I ordered him a cake. Michelle's going
to pick it up, she's going to meet us there,
-hopefully she won't be late.
-[Emily] Yeah, she's always late.
[Ana] And then we have to
leave right away, okay, guys?
[Aaron] Okay, hold on,
guys. Hang on, guys listen.
[radio announcements]
Off the top tonight Hurricane Irma's
barreling towards the Caribbean.
This Category five storm is
slamming the northeast coast
of Puerto Rico right now.
The island is being hit by
winds of a 185 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service
says Puerto Rico has not seen
a hurricane of Irma's magnitude since
Hurricane Okeechobee back in the 1920s.
This is a massive storm
here in the Atlantic Ocean.
If you're in Florida and listening now,
evacuate north immediately.
Governor Scott has declared
a state of emergency for all of Florida.
Every family needs to have a plan,
have a disaster preparedness
kit and be ready today.
[TV news] This Friday
will mark exactly one month
since the landfall of Hurricane Irma
and the horrific disappearance
of five college students.
The suspect believed
to be behind these events
is still at large.
Detective Mike Quill has been
giving us extraordinary insight
into the case since becoming
the lead on this investigation.
[Quill] I've spent my
career keeping the oath
as a police officer of the law,
and proud to continue to do so.
But in my 19 years,
I have never seen anything like this, ever.
[Ana] All right, here's your cake.
Easy, guys, easy.
Ow, ow is that really necessary?
-Yes, you love it.
-Relax, okay.
-Soooooo, Mo.
-Yeah.
Before we sing happy birthday,
just wanted you to know,
we're all here for you.
I mean, I know you've been
through everything with all the,
you know, but
I'm so happy to be here with you.
-Okay, okay.
-[Michelle] Happy birthday, Mo.
-All right, guys.
-[Aaron] The cake's burning.
Oh, oh, oh. Okay, all
right. Come on. Come on.
[Michelle] Yeah, make a wish. Make a wish.
[clapping]
-Yes birthday Mo Mo.
-60, he turned 60.
[Ana] Awe did you see
his face, it was so poignant.
I don't think poignant really fits here.
Whose idea was it to spell
my whole name on a cake?
Okay, first of all, your last name is
your given name, so be proud of it.
Nobody puts their last... And
the pink happy birthday sign?
-You know what Mr. Birthday Cake?
-I'm a 5 year old? Oh.
[Emily] Yay.
-Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
-It's a good cake.
All right easy, okay.
Important part right here.
[Aaron] Let's hear it.
Birthday shots?
[cheering]
Except Aaron, he needs to drive.
[Mo] Oh, okay. Sorry, sorry.
[Ana] Birthday shots except Aaron.
Cheers, happy birthday.
Oh. Alright here we go, cheers, cheers.
[Ana] Are we gonna save some for the road trip?
-[Michelle] Lame.
[Mo] It's a long road trip we need this.
[cheering]
-[Ana] Oh, wow.
-[All] Oh.
Ugh, that's terrible.
Do I look like a Smurf or what?
Get a close up, get a
close up. Come on come on.
[chatter]
[Michelle] Why am I friends with you guys?
That's how we do it over here.
Can we just get in the car?
Let's just get out of here, just pack up.
Let's go, let's just have
a good time, all right?
Let's do it guys. Road trip.
[chatter]
[upbeat music]
Like half the population
in the state of Florida,
they were making arrangements
to evacuate the state
to where I believe was North Carolina.
So it must have been like a road trip?
[cheering]
-[Emily] Road trip. Road trip.
-Yeah, road trip.
-[Michelle] And we're out.
-Yeah. We out this bitch.
-Where are you going?
-I'm goin' to North Carolina.
Yeah, we're all going to North Carolina.
-Okay, it's a joke, Mr. Grouch.
-Wow, he's so feisty.
[Michelle] Oh my god -He's so feisty.
[Michelle] Rude, huh?
-[Ana] Stop, stop. That's gross, just stop.
-Shut up.
-[Mo] I'm done with you guys.
-[Ana] We're all going to get to North Carolina safely.
[Interviewer] One has to wonder what it must
have been like for them, trying to find shelter
in such a strong storm barreling
down, only to have to deal
with a more immediate
life threatening scenario.
Yeah. Yeah. It's something
we really wish we knew.
This case has been an uphill battle
and with all the lack of
information, a lack of evidence
and all we don't know.
This is a tough case.
Just walk us through what
happened that night, if you will,
starting with the 911 call.
[suspenseful music]
[Quill] Well, mind you, the
events of that particular night,
it's what's really in question.
The 911 call wasn't received
until the following morning.
Please help, he's killing
all my friends. Hello!
[Quill] Now, the curfew was done, it was
over. We had a lot of debris from the storm
there was downed power lines
was downed cell phone towers.
So the signal was terrible.
Well, where were you when you got the call?
I was in a hotel like everybody else,
waiting out this storm
over off the interstate.
Oh, wow.
[Quill] When I got there a few hours later.
The place was clean.
Minus the mess that was made,
you would have never known
anyone stayed there that night.
But, you know, when
we started really looking...
[Ana] All right, here's your cake.
[Quill] That's when I realized
people were actually here
seeking shelter from that hurricane
who I believe, five college kids.
Are there any whereabouts on the kids?
Guys due to the sensitivity
and nature of the case
we can't answer these
questions at this time.
It is an ongoing investigation.
What I can tell you is we've identified
the five missing students
first being Mohamed Toma,
-[Ana] Ooh yeah.
-[Officer] Ana Garcia,
Emily Park,
Aaron Somerfield
and Michelle Harris.
Now, Detective Quill here,
he'll be leading the investigation.
-[reporter] Do you know the whereabouts of the kids?
-Wait, wait not now.
Guys, he'll answer your
questions just a few minutes.
What I'd like to do now is
introduce Mrs. Somerfield.
She'd like to make a statement.
My baby, Aaron.
Aaron and four of his
friends evacuated the city
to escape the storm.
We haven't seen him since.
If anyone has any information,
please, please contact the police.
If you've seen him.
If you have him please let him go.
We're not giving up hope.
We're not giving up hope, Aaron.
[reporters] -Mrs. Somerfield.
-Are there any
whereabouts on the kids?
[Quill] You've got missing kids.
You've got a mother crying,
begging the media to help her.
It wasn't until we found the mobile devices
that it was quickly becoming
apparent, at least to me,
that this is a matter of
recovering the bodies.
There's still a sense of urgency
and you definitely can't tell the parents
until you have the facts.
And given all the facts,
this was not a missing
person's case at all.
This is a question of
recovering the bodies.
[coffee house jazz]
I just want to be free
[Ana] Aw, long distance lover
what a sweet pathetic romantic joke.
Shut up, Ana.
Go ahead FaceTime Derek.
I haven't seen his horrible
glowing little face in a minute.
First, I'm not calling
him in front of everyone.
He just called me because I
told them there may be a little bit
of time without
communication during this trip.
So how does it feel to be dating
an Instagram avi this whole time?
Hmm, how does it feel
to be such a nice bitch?
[laughter]
So, uh, Mo, you gonna do the thing
when we get to North Carolina?
What?
The thing when we go
to different cities now?
-No.
-Oh, come on.
He does it so good with
the accent and everything.
[Michelle] What is she talking about?
You weren't there when I, uh...
You weren't there, Michelle.
You're such an outsider.
-[Michelle] Shut up, Ana. What'd you do?
-It was stupid.
And it wasn't supposed to be a thing,
but apparently I made a
drunk promise, so now it is.
-Tell me. Please.
-I would.
Okay, so he stuck out, half
his body out the car window,
yelled to the dude next to
him, and goes, "Hey, hey.
Where the hoes be at?"
No, he did not.
Yes, he did. You didn't tell her?
Oh, God I was just so drunk.
I guess I really am the outsider, huh?
You don't tell me anything.
[Mo sighs]
[Michelle] Come on,
let me hear it,
accent and everything.
Mo.
[Michelle] Do it do it. Come on.
No.[Girls laugh]
[girls] Do it, do it, do it.
-[Michelle] Come on.
-Shut the camera off.
Sauced up Mo, looking for them hoes.
-Look at all the hoes.
-Who's that hoe?
[laughing]
Anyone know anything about driving shifts.
Asking for a cute friend.
Yeah, whatever.[Emily laughs]
-[Emily] Hey Ana, que' pasa?
-It's my mom.
We still haven't heard from
my abuela. It's been two days.
She's at a nursing home in
San Juan last time we checked.
Oh.
They're just kicking in hell for no reason.
You know when I was a kid
just see the chaos happen.
I swear that's what God
did to the Caribbean.
Ana, don't say that.
You have no idea how bad it can get.
Okay, and the way Hispanics worry
god, it just freaking ruins your life.
Think for the worst, plan for
the worst, expect the worst.
-I'm sorry.
-She's 78.
We call her every week.
She'd never fly to leave home.
And none of our fucking deadbeat
relatives can tell us anything about her.
Okay, like I get that they're
going through a lot right now,
but she's really old.
Fuck.
Well, I'm sure she's all right.
You just have to believe.
I don't know if I can right now.
I'm just really glad that we're
able to get somewhere safe.
Because those people back
home, they don't have that luxury.
We'll never know what that's like.
I know, you'll hear from them
before we get to North Carolina.
And plus, you have all of us.
So we're here for you, okay?
Thanks, girls.
Feel better?
Hey.
Hey.
-What are you doing?
-Nothing.
You're just going to be driving
so much, I can't even...
Don't play, my shift's almost over.
Shift?
That's adorable.
-So where's the furthest you've ever driven.
-What?
Like in one trip, what's the
longest you've ever been?
Uh, Nebraska.
Nebraska? Are you serious? Why?
It was high school, senior
year, Christmas break,
wanted to see snow, so we drove.
[Emily] Wait, you went with your friends.
No, I said high school, senior year.
Who the heck would
let their kid all the way up
to the Midwest with a bunch of teenagers.
[girls] White people?
No, no, it was a family trip.
And your parents made
you drive the entire time?
No, I volunteered.
But at the time I thought it
was something to brag about.
So cute.
[puking noises]
Disgusting.
[Emily] You guys love it.
the southern charm.
-[Ana] Where are we?
-[Emily] No touching, especially you, Mo.
Why are you getting off the highway?
-[Ana] Yeah why?
-[Mo] Can't keep my hands off.
[Aaron] Hey, you've seen the GPS
I mean, the whole frickin things' red.
-The highways like a straight shot, though.
-[Aaron] Look at the bright side,
I mean, you only make so many
trips so let's adventure a little bit.
-[Emily] So you want to take the back roads.
-We are taking back roads.
[Emily] The whole way?
-Yeah.
-Why?
All right, trust in me. I got this, babe.
Okay.
-I trust you.
-Yes.
Hey, Michelle's got me.
-Excuse me?
-I mean, yeah. Sure.
I'm just saying I trust you, that's all.
[Mo] What does is say on the GPS?
Dude, I turned the GPS off.
Why?
Hey, hey, hey, hey,
you guys said you trusted in me, okay.
[Emily] No, they did, I didn't.
[Mo] Emily, you stressed out?
Stop.
[teasing noises]
-[Mo] Trust your man. He's the best driver in the world.
-At least I have you guys.
-[Ana] Oh wow.
-[Emily] If anything happens,
it's going to happen to all of us.
[Mo] Look, guys, it's my birthday
it's supposed to be about me.
Not your little romance.
[Michelle] Every day is your birthday.
[all cheering and laughing]
[Mo] If we can get
out of this dumb traffic.
[car engine running]
[honking]
[honking]
All right, seriously just
get out of the way, people.
Come on.
Dang it.
[Emily] What's the matter?
[Aaron] Gas.
Already?
Guys, how far to the nearest station?
Jesus, my data is shit here, I don't know.
[Aaron] Come on, guys, anybody we're going...
-Calm down.
You're looking at about ten miles, bro.
-Thanks, Mr. Verizon.
-That's what I do.
[Aaron] All right, guys.
[engine revving]
[Mo] Oh, easy.
[all] Oh whoa, whoa, whoa.
-[Aaron] Hold on.
-[Mo] Where are you going?
[tires screeching]
-What the fuck?
-Yeah, my bad.
All right, if I'm stuck in another stinking
traffic jam on this highway, we're screwed.
So let me get off in a residential
community somewhere, see if we get lucky.
Why don't you just call
AAA if we run out of gas?
Dude I really don't want to be
that vehicle on a day like today.
Plus, gas stations are running dry.
And I really, really don't
want to be that vehicle
stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Right, guys?
-[Michelle] That is facts.
-Well, I second that.
Can it, all right.
So since our data isn't working,
why don't we just have Mo
search up the nearest gas station?
-Nope.
-[Michelle] What?
No what?
I lost my signal.
Well, it's fine. We're going to
see where this road takes us.
Plus, Aaron has a really
good sense of direction.
Oh, you're such a cheerleader.
It's gross.
-I think it's romantic.
-Oh.
[Emily] Thanks, Mo.
[Aaron] Hang on a second, guys.
What in the world?
What's going on?
[Emily] What are you doing?
Hey, man, you got a minute?
Look, we need to find
a gas station like quick.
Like right now, if you can
dude, like if you could just
point us in the right direction.
Hey, I'll help you out, too.
[grunts]
You need a gas station?
-[Emily] Yeah.
-Right.
Over the ridge.
Past it.
You see a yard there.
Okay, you'll see a scrap yard.
All right.
Two miles down, there it is.
I couldn't really understand him.
Could you...
-[man] She can't hear me?
No, could you repeat that, please?
Yeah. Keep driving.
See the ridge up there?
-You see it?
-Yeah, I see it. Yeah.
You go over the ridge.
Okay.
The scrap yard.
-Scrap yard? What's that?
-A junkyard?
Some people call it a
junkyard. I call it a scrap yard.
It's for scraps for parts.
A fucking junkyard, Emily.
Shut the fuck up, Ana.
All right, then?
Two miles, there it is.
So just keep going straight,
is that what you're saying?
It's pretty much what I got.
[Emily] Just keep straight?
Yeah.
-What are you doing?
-What's it look like I'm doing?
He didn't give us anything useful.
Are you serious right now?
Are you kidding me?
Hey, hey, man it's all I got.
Thank you, brother.
Bless you.
Hey, where them hoes at?
[laughing]
-[Emily] Well, that was a worthless encounter.
-I've had enough, forget it.
Seriously, I wanted useful
information instead, you got finesse.
Look, the guy was homeless, all right?
I felt like giving, so what's the problem?
Nothing, I guess.
[Aaron] Good, let's drop it.
It's unreal stinking unreal.
This Jeep ain't even two years
old, it's got a stinking small gas tank.
You know that E stands
for empty right, bro?
-Yeah, I get that, man.
-Guys, calm down.
I don't want to be that person
during situations like this,
pointing out all the obvious shit.
Well, we shouldn't have
gone off the highway.
So what are we doing? We're
trying to outrun a hurricane.
What we're doing is we're
sitting on the side of the road
with no gas.
What are you, stupid?
Oh, hell ah no.
Who the fuck do you think
you're talking to like that?
Well, evidently, a bunch of idiots.
Aaron, where are we going?
[in raspy voice] Go over to Ridge,
up yonder rar, rar, rar.
[girls laugh] -All right, shut up, man.
Look, the dude said there's
a scrap yard not too far off.
Let's just, let's just head for it
and see if we can get lucky, huh?
-With what?
-With anything.
All right, scrapyards have
cars, cars have gas, right?
Duh.
Okay, so, uh, how about we pack up
our shit and head over there,
we good?
-Agreed.
-Whatever.
Looks like your driving
shift really is over now.
[car doors slamming]
[eerie music]
[Emily] Shit.[Laughter]
Shut up, Mo.
-[Mo] Easy, relax.
[Michelle] I'm so over this.
[Ana] God damn it.
[suspenseful music]
I'll take, uh, stupid
decisions for six hundred.
And the question is, did
we really need all this beer?
-You wanna take that?
-No, I got it.
What is, hell yeah, we need this beer?
Ding, ding, ding. We got a winner.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
This is so fucking stupid, guys.
Everything is so stupid right now.
Agreed.
Yup.
All because you wanted to stop?
All right, enough with the homeless man.
[suspenseful music]
There's nothing you can
say to make this better.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Hey, Mo.
Yeah.
Happy birthday.
Thank you, so kind.
[dramatic music]
Hey.
Hey, anybody.
No one's here.
What are we going to do now?
[chain rattling]
[metal clanking]
All right, let's take
turns squeezing through.
Time to get flexible, guys.
Um, hello.
Did you forget about your back?
Yeah. Who's first?
Oh, oh, I don't know about my back.
Time to get flexible, guys, who's first?
I got this, all right?
All right, superstar,
let's see what you got.
Don't break anything though.
[clapping]
[laughing] -[Aaron] Whoa, it's
like a different world over here.
You guys are going to have to
toss everything over something.
All right, well, who's next then?
-Come on.
-Nose goes.
-[Emily] All right.
-All right. Come on.
[Ana] All right, Emily.
Show us what you've got, let's go.
[Aaron] Come on.
Send me a sleeping bag, let's see it.
-[Mo] Hey.
-[Girls] Hey.
-Wow.
-What is this place?
Oh, my gosh.
It's actually pretty cool.
[Michelle] Okay, this is crazy.
So this is the scrapyard
he's talking about,
fucking airplanes?
[Mo] Guys, check this out.
[Ana] Ooo, a tire.
[Aaron] Three more of them
and we can roll out of here.
[Aaron] They'd fit the jeep man.
-[Mo] Oh.
-[Ana] Ew, that was wet.
Yeah, way to go.
Oh, this is sick, bro.
All right, ladies and gentlemen,
this is your captain speaking.
And thank you again
for flying MoMo Airlines.
-[Michelle] Corny.
-[Ana] Lame.
[Michelle] That's pretty gross.
Look at that.
Oh, God, guys, this is
so bad, what is this place?
Well, it's our only sanctuary.
What else do you want?
-I'd rather take my chances in the fucking Jeep.
-Go ahead.
-Yeah, we're pretty fucked here, guys.
-This is our only option?
Look, we all got here at the
same time, okay? My guess is yeah.
Let's just go around back and see
what's in the back part of this place.
Bunkers, maybe.
Bunker intentions, sinkhole results.
[suspenseful music]
Happy birthday to me.
[dramatic music]
[Ana] Damn, this is shit.
Well, there's a hangar.
So this is it?
That's pretty sick.
[dramatic music]
This is crazy.
I've never been to an
airplane junkyard before.
Yeah, well, all I see is just a
bunch of bone shattering debris
once the storm hits.
-Uh. Ow.
-Oh.
-[Michelle] You okay?
-No, I'm not.
I'll go in with her.
So we're sticking with the original plan?
The plan was to find shelter
before the storm hit peak hours,
so, yeah, I guess we'll try
to find a landline somewhere.
And what are the chances
of us finding one here?
Look, I don't know, all right?
Something about this
place screams landline.
I mean, there's probably not
another cell tower within miles of here.
So if I can just get a hold
of my insurance company.
Your car insurance company?
Yeah.
So they're just going to save us
pulling up in jet skis
and water vests and help us out.
[laughing]
You two are impossible.
Look, Emily's right, though.
This place would kill
us if we're not careful
during the storm.
How far you think this
goes back? Pretty far?
The only property within acres of land,
so I'd say goes back a ways.
And we're the only people here?
Would you be here during a hurricane?
Point.
Um, I gotta take a shit, guys.
-So if you want to, you know?
-Yeah, we'll go that way.
That way.
Okay.
-[Mo] Hey, you all right?
-[Emily] Yeah, I think so.
Do you think it's locked?
[Mo] Uh. Not sure.
Let me check.
Oh, no, we're good.
[door rattling]
This is fucking dope.
Where are we supposed to sleep?
Pick a spot, princess.
Stop.
What?
This is not the time and
it's never going to be again.
How's Derek?
How's Emily?
You know, you're right.
This ain't the time or the place
but I'm at the point now where
I just don't care anymore.
Then why don't you just break up with her?
Why don't you quit the joke
of a relationship you have
with Mr. Civil Engineer,
who you won't see till March?
You know he's cheating on you, right?
Look, I don't care how
much of a dork I think he is.
He's smashing something before
and after your FaceTime sessions.
Of course, he is.
She probably holds the phone for him.
-Fuck you, Aaron.
-Hey, language.
[loud bang]
All right, finally,
something I can work with.
[Ana] Hey, Michelle.
Oh, fuck you, bitch.
Riding out Irma in this
giant empty can of Diet Coke.
No longer recording this
for the sake of recording,
but because this could very well
be the last footage you see of us...
-[Emily] Oh, shut up, please.
-[Ana] What?
I'm just saying now is not the
time, don't point that shit at me.
[Ana] What? Okay, I'm
trying to record things.
I'm just saying, now's not the
time for your annoying videos.
Look, I'm not recording
just to be funny, okay?
When we're in situations like this,
we can't just sit around and do nothing.
We have to document every little thing.
All right, keep tracks,
just keep your stupid
director's commentary for another crowd.
And here we have, for the first time ever,
in history of Animal Planet,
the wildest, craziest
ugliest witch in the world.
Stop. [Laughs]
Fuck you.
Love you, too.
-Love you, too.
-Aw.
Do you think any of these are warplanes?
Aaron, you're asking me
as if I know shit about planes.
It's cute.
You know, my grandpa was a pilot in Korea.
No, shit.
Yeah.
Well, then why are you asking me
these dumb questions? Sad.
I don't know anything,
man, like seen a few pictures.
I heard some stories.
I hear you.
[Aaron] So, uh, how long has it been?
Since I've been clean?
Two months, really.
Two months flew, right?
Not the first month.
I don't know, man, I just...
I just couldn't control myself.
Every day was a fucking
living hell, I'll tell you that.
Everybody looked at me like I
was some fucking disappointment.
And the worst part was the
look on my mom's face, Aaron.
I know I broke her heart.
But, uh, it got better.
So you told Emily yet or what?
Oh, now, your mother would
be so disappointed, man.
Dude, it's just that Emily and I
have been having some problems for a while,
but I still know she's in my corner, man.
And Michelle, I mean, I don't know.
I've never been through
anything like this before,
and I'm not really sure what to do,
to be honest with you.
-I bet.
-Yeah, but can you relate?
I can, to a degree.
There you go.
Well, look...
I'm not saying tell her everything.
Just saying because that'll
be, uh, for you, Mr. Romeo.
But, um, tell her that
it's over for her sake.
What, so you can be the
shoulder that she cries on, huh?
Well, it's all part of the plan.
Get out of here, you backstabber.
All right, sheet metal.
Anything we can pick up.
What the heck you want
with sheet metal, man?
You got time to weld?
What makes you think I know how to weld?
You're asking for sheet metal, you lunatic.
I think it will be enough
to wedge into corners,
plug up any holes we see in there.
Most the good stuff still bolted on, so...
Well, peel it off like the Hulk.
Hey, what about this?
Oh, okay.
I think it to be enough to clamp
up that big piece we found.
Dude, check this out.
-No way.
-That's sick, man.
Oh, shit.
Easy there, Samurai.
Dude it's good for something, right?
I think so. Let me see.
No, too much corrosion. Come on.
So much for privacy, am I right?
What are you trying to do, get comfy?
Pack your house slippers and robe, too?
Yeah, and my Lacey
delicates from Fredricks.
Oh, I can think of quite a
few places you could find
to change around here.
-I was kidding.
If I wanted to change,
I'd do it right here.
Think I care if you and Mo
get your feelings hurt
by seeing a little ass.
That would hurt my feelings.
I don't really wanna get changed.
Well, how are you going to get comfortable
if you don't change?
That's the point.
I don't want to get comfortable,
at least not here.
[loud bang]
[Emily] What the fuck?
[dramatic music]
[eerie music]
What was that, was that a tree?
No, there's nothing,
at least nothing that stayed
in the same place, anyway.
[Michelle] What do you mean by that?
Nothing.
Saying whatever it was,
didn't stay in its original spot
afterward, that's it.
It was probably just debris.
Yeah, that was definitely debris, Ana.
Oh, and in the blue corner
we have Selfie Master...
Shut up.
[loud bang]
What the hell!
And of course, I left
my lantern in the Jeep.
I brought mine, don't worry.
-Oh, no.
-Mo, get that lantern out quick
so we don't kill our
batteries on our phone.
On it, just don't remember
if I...[loud banging]
What the fuck was that?
[Emily] I don't know.
[eerie music]
Is it scraping?
Do you hear that?
You guys, where's that coming from? Aaron?
It's nothing to worry about all right?
It's just the wind.
[Ana] Doesn't sound like wind.
Hey, shh.
[sheet metal rattling]
What the fuck was that?
[Ana] I don't know.
[eerie music]
[door slamming]
[loud bang]
[Aaron] See there, guys,
nothing to worry about at all.
That didn't sound like nothing,
Aaron, what did you see?
Look, it was nothing, all right?
Let's just keep unpacking.
Yeah.
[suspenseful music]
So, Detective, regarding
possible motive, if any,
has the list of suspects
grown since this thing started?
Has it shrunk?
That's a great question,
and I'm glad you asked that.
And it's important that your viewers
really grasp this description.
[suspenseful music]
[Quill] From evidence that
we gathered at the scene
he's going to be a male,
and a very large male.
He's going to have some scarring
and some disfigurement.
We know that he wore a mask.
We're not quite sure what
the function of that mask is,
but we know he wears one.
We profile this guy as
someone that likes the hunt.
[suspenseful music]
But in a very controlled environment.
[Emily] Cell phone checks.
54%.
I'm at a solid, 75.
63%.
60%.
All right, Ana, Emily.
That should do that.
[Ana] I'm starving.
It's time for a snack check.
Strawberry or blueberry?
Blueberry.
Oh, there's no more blueberry.
What happened to the three
of them I put in there for me?
I ate it.
All right, fine, strawberry.
[Mo] Okay, time for a beer check.
[Michelle] I will count by two's.
Now, that's my kind of girl.
[Ana] There's that.
[Mo] All right.
Mmmm, good?
[Aaron] It's good.
[laughing]
[Michelle] Oh, my God.
-The robot. Hey, get it, get it.
-Oh, my goodness.
Hey, do you remember when you asked
a homeless guy about hoes?
[Ana] You finally saw it.
Okay.
So is your birthday wish
slowly but surely coming true?
You know, I don't normally
make wishes, but yes,
so far, everything I
wished for is happening.
I'm like 10 for 10 so far.
Oh, okay.
What kind of oil's in there?
[Mo] The good kind.
Can I take a hit?
What was that? That was a baby hit.
Whatever.
Anyways, sorry about
your family in Puerto Rico.
Thanks.
It's been pretty shitty
for both of us, huh?
-Got that right.
-Yeah.
Is she still dating that guy?
Are you still talking to all those girls?
Still waiting for the right one to show up.
Hey, maybe she's somewhere
stuck in an airplane salvage yard
waiting to be rescued.
Bet you're hooked on this.
I have a tolerance for it, number one,
and number two...
It's what helped me get off the pills.
[Emily] Well, I'm going
to go do some digging.
[Aaron] Yeah. Knock yourself out.
I'll take this from you.
Hey.
-[Aaron] Hey.
-What's up?
Look I need you to do me a huge favor.
Sure, what's up?
If you could just keep Emily occupied
if things start to get crazy.
[Ana] Really?
Listen, we've been bumping heads lately,
when she gets a certain way, okay.
I just don't want to
be a trigger, all right.
Okay, so you want me to
hold her hand, tell her jokes,
be a shoulder she can cry on?
Never mind, all right?
Geez, I was just kidding.
You're hitting the vape too now, huh?
Yeah, it's pretty dope, huh.
Be careful of that thing.
Thanks, Dad.
Look at Mo, everything
he's had to go through
just to be sitting here with us.
Yeah, you're right.
He really did it, though.
-Yeah.
-Yeah.
Okay, thanks.
No prob.
[dramatic music]
What the hell?
[Mo] One stretch.
Hey, man.
Two stretch. [Groans]
You good?
Hanging in there.
Look uh, about what we
talked about earlier outside.
Yeah.
I don't think I'm going to
be doing that anytime soon.
I just can't leave her, man.
You, my sir, have a great heart.
It's just that...
-No, don't worry, man, judge free zone.
I don't know.
I just feel like I have to have
someone in my corner, you know?
Even though I know I'm in the wrong.
Is that so terrible?
It's not terrible.
It's just a human necessity.
[Michelle] What's a human necessity?
[Mo clears throat] What?
I can think of a few human necessities.
Why does everything
have to be a blurred line
between gross and sexual with you?
Because she's just too precious
to be just one of those things.
Oh, fuck.
I should've taken the extra time
for therapy after the accident.
You okay?
Yeah, I'm doing fine.
My back is acting up.
I'm almost out of this dumb thing
and we're still fucking stuck here.
What a great question.
Okay, just, you know...
Just back off, okay?
[Emily] Hey, what's going on? Mo, you okay?
If someone else asked me
that same dumb question
I'm going to fucking lose it.
[Emily] Damn, I thought
I was the uptight one.
Where are you going?
Taking a walk.
Storm's let up pretty well
good enough, just some wind.
We should all get out
of here while we still can.
Breather, you know.
[Emily] Come on, guys. Let's go.
[Ana] That's okay, I'll hang back.
No, it's it's okay, just...
I just need some space.
-All right, just stop I never...
-You fucking told Mo?
Are you stupid? Of course, you're fucking
stupid, or I would've never decided to...
Look, Mo is my best
friend, I tell him everything.
I love Mo, too.
That's way too many fucking
people. I'm embarrassed.
-Wow.
-Oh, wow What? Emily was right there.
What happened that
night was a huge mistake.
Are you sure?
Oh my god, please spare me the innocent
bullshit and see it for what it was.
I can't see it for what it
is, that's the difference.
I'm trying really hard to
act like I don't want to slap
the shit out of you right now,
but you're making that impossible.
You haven't tried once
to make this thing work.
When we get out of here, I'm telling Emily,
I'm telling Derek,
and we're all going to be fucking honest
and lonely in the end.
And if you come looking for me,
I'm going to slap the shit out of you.
[Emily] Hey, everything okay?
-Hey.
-Yeah.
I just can't be cramped up in
there for so long, you know?
Yeah, I know.
I asked him to come out, but...
Yeah, Mo didn't want to come out.
Still no signal.
Honestly, it's just pointless out here.
We can't get any updates
at all with this stupid storm.
-[Ana] Yeah, for real.
-Oh, hey, guys, earlier when I went upstairs,
I found a whole drawer
of random cell phones.
-Really?
-Yeah.
Some dude lives here and he steals phones.
That's all it means.
No, it's all like canned goods, too.
Like half of them were open
and they looked pretty new.
There's nothing worry about, all right?
It's kind of weird.
Is that a propeller behind us?
That's sick.
Hey, hey, picture.
-Come on.
-Now?
Yes, lighten up.
Come on, you guys, too, come on.
[Michelle] Oh, my God.
[Ana] Picture with this thing.
Come on. Let's go, let's go.
All right, ready?
All right, ready? One, two, three, go.
[camera clicks]
[Emily] Again, one, two three.
-All right.
-And then one more with the hangar.
Okay, this is the last one.
Hangar, what's up.
[Ana] One, two, three go.
[camera clicking]
[Ana] Okay, you wanna see it?
Yeah.
Oh.
[Michelle] Ew. Delete that one.
No, I love it.
-That one's good.
-I like that one.
That's a solid seven, it's a solid seven.
That one's good.
It's okay.
-Wait, do you guys see that?
-See what?
-[Ana] What the fuck?
-[Emily] What is that?
Let me see?
Is that Mo?
[Michelle] What the fuck is that?
[Aaron] He's too big to be Mo.
Who the fuck? Mo?
[Emily] Ana wait, wait. Wait.
[Ana] Mo! Oh my God.
[high intensity music]
Mo.
Mo!
[screams]
[Ana] What the hell, where's Mo?
Whose blood is that?
Hey, guys, I found Mo's phone.
Hey, guys, I just want to
apologize about earlier.
Didn't mean to snap at you like that.
I just, just trying to hang in there.
But, uhm, I really do appreciate you guys
trying to make this birthday a special one,
even though we're stuck in the middle
of fucking nowhere.
But I think this place is,
uh, kind of growing on me.
This is not for social
media, it's just for you guys.
Aside from all the bullshit,
all the fights, all the drama.
I'll always have you
guys's back, no matter what.
So remember that.
Maybe one day video will surface of us...
What the fuck?[Thud]
[dramatic music]
[groaning]
[thuds]
-[Mo crying]
[Mo crying]
[loud bang]
Aaron!
Aaron!
-Aaron!
-Look, I'm not about to let that
guy come back a second time, all right?
Are you serious?
[growling]
Fuck that, we need to leave now, move.
[Aaron] Nobody's going anywhere.
There's no car, there's no service.
It's at least 10 miles to the highway.
There's no help out there, Ana.
Did you see the size of him?
Okay, I'm fucking finding
Mo and I'm getting out of here.
Ana, Mo's gone.
-Mo's not gone.
-Damn it, Ana. Stop it.
Look, you know who might
be in situations like this?
People in horror movies.
How do you want to take your chances?
Well, that doesn't
matter much now, does it?
Look, you know what hurricanes bring?
Tornadoes, all right?
Look, we stick together, all right?
We might even find Mo. We need you.
Look okay, there's
someone always out there,
some fucking idiot,
but I just can't wait around
and just do nothing.
All right, Ana, look at me.
Look, I can't tell you what to
do, but please don't do this.
Look, I'm going to be
back, okay? I promise.
[high intensity music]
Oh, fuck. Fuck. Fuck!
Fuck. God Damn.
Hey, sir, please help me.
We're being attacked,
someone has my friend.
I have other friends too, please.
Please, sir, I really need your help.
Hey, hey!
Please, sir, I just...
I fucking need your help.
Find shelter, it's bad out here.
I know it's fucking bad.
I just need your help
getting through this god damn gate.
Please, take my hand, sir, please.
You need to find some shelter, I said.
Fucking take my hand, dude,
I'm trying to get out of here.
Please give me your fucking
hand and pull me through.
[Ana screams]
[high intensity music]
Let go of me.
Get off me.
[dramatic music]
[Ana whimpering]
[Ana] Please, leave me alone.
No, no, no, I'm begging you, please no.
No, no.
[thud]
-[screaming]
[yelling]
-[growling]
[screaming]
[gasping]
Oh, my god.
Now, the Sunshine State scrap
yard where all this took place.
Can you tell us what was uncovered,
what was found out about this property
once the investigation started to unravel?
Great question. That's just
one of several properties
that the Kranstin's own.
[reporters shouting]
[reporter] Rachel, would you like
to make a comment on the five kids?
-No. -Miss Kranstin.
-Rachel, do you have a second?
[Quill] As a matter of fact I think
Rachel Kranstin owns it now.
[Reporters] -Miss Kranstin.
-Just one minute.
[Quill] Because her husband, Brandon,
he passed away two or three years ago.
I did look into the paperwork,
licensing, property
tax, the taxes them self.
Nothing was out of the
ordinary about this property.
Everything checked okay.
Don't worry, it's going to be all right.
We let her out there to die alone.
No, we didn't, there's
absolutely nothing to worry about.
We're going to find Mo
when the storm stops and it's
all going to be all right.
Trust me.
What are we gonna do?
Well, nothing sitting
here, let's go come on.
Come on, let's go.
Emily, come on.
[Emily] What are you doing?
I'm giving him a way in here.
There's only two ways in and
out so you guys block this side up.
I'll block here.
[door creaking]
Hey, you see that?
Do you see that? It's blinking.
Wait, wait, wait.
-Be careful, okay?
-Okay.
I'm pregnant.
What?
I was going to tell him
when we got to North Carolina.
I mean, I know Aaron has his moments.
We all do.
But I always knew he was the one.
I always knew we were
going to get married, have kids.
I know it's stupid, right?
Something I need to tell you.
[Aaron] Hey girls, it's Ana's phone.
[dramatic music]
Girls, behind you.
[dramatic music]
[girls screaming]
[dramatic music]
[screaming]
Michelle, stop, we have to find Aaron.
-Fuck Aaron.
-Fuck Aaron?
We don't have time for Aaron
right now. We need to hide.
Where are we gonna hide?
Over here.
In here.
Fuck.
Go, go, go, go.
Can we go?
Shh, shh, shh.
[loud bang]
-[screaming]
[man groaning]
-[girls whimpering]
[grunting]
[intense music]
[girls whimpering]
[screaming]
[screaming]
-[thuds]
[heavy steps]
[crashing noise]
[dramatic music]
-Get up.
-I can't.
-You have to get up.
-I can't, it hurts.
You have to get up. We
have to get out of here.
[Michelle] Come on.
[Emily groaning]
[whimpering]
Grab my hand. Grab
my hand, Emily, let's go.
I can't. Go. Go.
I'm not leaving.
Go find Aaron.
[screaming]
[Emily crying out in pain]
[eerie music]
[crying]
I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
Aaron, wake up. Wake up.
Please.
Wake up.
Wake up.
[intense music]
[coughing and gagging]
[groans]
[continues to groan]
[dramatic music]
[heaving]
[door bangs]
[dramatic music]
[pounding noises]
[Aaron groaning]
[loud thud]
-[growling]
[heart beating]
[interviewer] Let's get back to the
911 call. Do you have any information
about who may have actually made that call?
[dramatic music]
[car engine failing to start]
[phone trills]
Hello.
Hello, please, please help
me. He's killing all of my friends.
Hello!
[Quill] It was cutting in and out. It
was very hard to hear, there was
a lot of interruptions,
but we believe that was
the voice of Michelle Harris.
And she was running for her life.
[whimpering]
[dramatic music]
[whimpering]
[Michelle screams] Let me go.
Come on. Get in the van.
Get in the van.
[car door slams]
[dramatic music]
[Michelle continues screaming]
As an investigator, this is
what keeps you up at night,
we don't know where Michelle Harris is.
Did this incident seem random to you?
These questions have to
be answered quickly. Why?
The quicker we can answer them questions,
the quicker we can find
the monster that did this
and bring some peace to the victims
and put that where he belongs.
["Do You Think I'm Like
a Truck" by Ashlea Annya]
Do you think I'm like a
truck where you can drive me
Drive me through the dirt
[crowd chatter]
Hey, how ya' doin?
-[bartender] Keep it open?
-Put it on mine.
Thanks.
What the fuck were you doing today?
Excuse me?
Don't play deaf.
I'm not in mood or drunk
enough to deal with it.
You're doing, what, some hard line special?
Since when do you go on TV?
Since those five college students
decided to spend the
night at your trendy loft.
[camera clicking]
This is where we are now.
This is what happens when the
guys upstairs don't understand.
Yeah, well, try telling them that.
They don't give a shit
about our repercussions.
They live in a bubble.
I just don't understand.
I don't understand
why they had to veer off.
Why don't they just
stick to what they know?
[Rachel] From what I gather
it was a desperate play
in order to keep their last
string of investors.
The series was about to fall apart.
Time was running out.
[Quill] I can't believe that.
[Rachel] What?
This shit show was about to come to an end
until those five fucks came along.
Those five fucking students.
You're acting like it's their
fault, those kids were...
[Aaron] Hey, hey, anybody.
[Rachel] ...wrong place, wrong time.
[Christian] Behind me here is the now
infamous Kruger airplane scrap yard.
This place, which has now
been determined, the scene of
a potentially gruesome multiple homicide
is where many questions still
remain unanswered, the story...
Let me get this straight,
so they used your property
for their excitement?
They're my husband's properties.
[Quill] Your husband's?
Yeah.
So, he was involved in his bullshit?
I never thought my husband
was leading a double life.
But if he had to, why
couldn't it have been...
A secret family,
another wife.
Anything less traumatic?
-I see.
-Why ask?
I was just wondering...
Wondering why they're keeping me alive?
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
You're not the only one
with a lot at stake here, Mike.
How in the world were you ever
able to compartmentalize this case
that was gaining national attention
away from your personal life,
your normal day to day routine?
And how in the world
were you able to do that?
[Quill] You can't have the luxury
of having your feelings,
you compartmentalize those.
You do your job. It's your oath.
I would have never got involved
with any of this any time ever.
It's a pretty heartless thing to say,
considering your wife's situation.
I haven't heard from or
about my wife in over a week.
Relax.
I'm going through the same thing.
Nothing has changed.
They only have two more
episodes left in our contract
and then we're done.
Don't you want this to end
the way that they want it to?
It's the only way we get out in one piece.
This is what happens to people like us
when they make decisions off the cuff,
the pawns are the first to get sacrificed.
This is all going to be over real soon.
Hey, bartender, can I have a
bottle of water, please, and a glass?
[Rachel] What do you mean?
Thank you.
I have a location for the Harris girl.
She's still alive.
No one knows.
Let me go.
[screaming] Let me go.
Why would they keep
her alive after all this time,
what does it mean?
[Quill] My mind's been racing
about that since I found out.
All I know is that when they took her,
I agreed to their terms and to
play along because I love my wife.
I had to play their game. I had
to do what they wanted me to do.
We had a lot of debris from the storm.
There was downed power lines.
There was down cell phone towers.
Got there a few hours
later, place was clean.
Minus the mess that was made,
you would have never known
anyone stayed there that night.
This is some dark, sinister shit.
And God knows my wife is with those people.
I know what happens to
people who end up on there.
You talk about the dark web.
I did what I did to buy time.
It's not that I trusted
them to come through
with what they said they were going to do.
I did it to buy time.
Buy time for what?
Are they, your friends are they
close to finding her, your wife?
Whatever they have on you,
I'm sure no one knows about it.
Right? And it's none of my damn business.
But, when all this goes down, understand,
everything's going to be exposed
and I mean everything.
So you found her.
I knew it.
Just remember, when you go on your crusade
that you and your fucking wife
aren't the only people involved in this.
I'm aware of that.
How do you know you
still have the upper hand?
I could easily tell them what you know.
The next time you think about that
remember why they use you
and what they need me for.
Remember that.
-Where is he?
-Who?
-You know who.
-Oh, him?
He's over there.
Are you mad I didn't invite him over?
[Quill] We profile this guy
as someone that likes the hunt.
You were wrong about this being a crusade.
The chips are about to come down,
and when the chips come down,
all the replaceable ends are exposed
and they come down too.
I asked for the people upstairs
and their next request,
although I'm not proud to do it,
I will honor it with pleasure.
What the fuck are you talking about, Quill?
Thanks for the beer, Rach, okay?
[liquid pouring]
[suspenseful music]
[car door shuts]
[dramatic music]
[Quill] I know what happens
to people who end up on there.
You talk about the dark Web.
[Rachel] The series was
about to fail, fall apart.
It was a desperate play to
keep their last string of investors.
All right, ladies and gentlemen,
this is your captain speaking
and thank you again
for flying MoMo airlines.
[girls laughing]
[dramatic music]
[Aaron] How long has it been?
Since I've been clean?
This could very well be the last
footage you see of us in a while.
-[Emily] Shut up, please.
-What?
[Emily] I'm just not in the
mood, don't point that shit at me.
Look, okay,
I'm not trying to be funny,
all right?
[a lot of people talking at once]
Look I'm not trying to be funny, okay?
[a lot of people talking at once]
[man] We got that
little bit up in the hangar

[Mo] You, my sir, have a great heart.
So you told Emily yet or what?
Not really sure what to

I always knew we were gonna
get married and have kids.
I'm pregnant.
[Quill] I cannot understand
how anyone can do this to these kids.
They were so young.
When I got notified by Jim
that they knew where they were, it changed.
Oh, yeah. Now I became the
hunter and that guy was going to pay
and pay big time.
The chips are about to come down.
And when the chips come down
everything's going to be exposed.
And I mean, everything.
This all going to be over real soon.
[shot fired]
[car door closing]

["Do You Think I'm Like
a Truck" by Ashlea Annya]
Do you think I'm like a truck
Where you can drive me
Drive me through the dirt
and mud whenever you want
Do you think I'm like a truck
Momma's talking about me now
Saying how the hell
I let you run me down
[dinging]
[eerie music]
