I didn't know that was possible.

I taught you how to dance, you idiot.
I remember trying to get up early to watch a music show
and seeing Run-D.M.C. and Jason Nevins and learning a move.
That was brutal.
Breaking became my life.
I live like a B-boy, with no regrets.
I was in my early 20s, learning how to be in relationships.
Breaking was one of my problems.
Girls would say, "I didn't think you'd keep doing it."
"You need to be more serious about a life plan."

I want to be a B-girl.

She was a typical suburban girl.
She played clarinet in the school band.
That's an unusual instrument. And she was unusual.
She was a free spirit.
She always danced at home.
She loved it.
From a young age, she was very determined.

As more and more women started getting into breaking,
it was felt that some girls were getting recognition too early in their careers.
The audience would cheer just because they were participating.
And afterwards, they'd tell you it wasn't good.
You know? I always thought I had to be better.
Rachael had to earn respect.
No recognition without effort.
I met Raygun 15 years ago.
My dance name is Flix.
It refers to my moves.
I competed in the first
all-female competition in Australia.
I've seen the evolution
of B-girling in Australia.
How would you describe Raygun's style?
Well...
That's a tricky question.
Raygun always had
a unique, distinctive, and special style.
She dances differently than I do.
Differently than a lot of other people.
I want to make it clear that...
I have no problem with Rachael.
She's someone I've considered a friend for 15 years.
But I think I have to say that her performance at the Olympics
offended me. I was embarrassed.
At the time, I was so captivated by the scene
and I felt it deserved recognition.
There isn't much academic research on breaking in Australia.
At one point, I started writing my PhD.
I never expected it. And there it is.
My supervisor told me that my work might be too ambitious.

I had nothing.
When the Olympic Committee selected breakdance for Paris 2024,
it opened the door for new athletes.

How does he prepare you?
We have nine months. We'll plan.
First, the Olympic Games are unlike anything we know.

And I was like, "What am I doing here?"
And others were wondering too.

Well done. But as a coach, you need to try harder. It's not good."
Then I also said, "As your husband, I see the coach is bothering you today."

They were two weeks apart, and both were major surgeries.
