Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous (2024) Movie Script

Terjemahan sari kata oleh Aman
[man 1] This is This is DJ Honey.
So tell us what was that track you played?
[woman chuckles]
I took dialogues from
-[man 1] Okay.
-[woman] He's actually answering.
It's connected to bass.
And "Dooms Night" with it.
-I made a patriotic remix.
-[man 1] Okay.
And here we have DJ Honey's father.
We've come to his house today.
And our channel has come to know
that you had thrown
all of his equipment out about a week ago.
-Oh, that's not true.
-[man 1] It's not?
Our channel doesn't miss anything.
[Honey]
I'm not a famous music director's son,
not a big singer's son.
I'm a normal guy who comes
from a very normal family.
[soft music playing]
[woman]
"I'm going to do something big,
and I will make all of you proud."
But I had no idea,
you know, that he's going to become
Yo Yo Honey Singh.
[fans chanting] Honey Singh! Honey Singh!
Honey Singh! Honey Singh!
[man 2] When I first saw him,
I knew, "This is the guy."
What we were listening to in that era,
this was different from that,
this was advanced.
[man 3] Many people
have seen fame in their lives,
many people have had popularity,
nut no one else in this world
is like Honey Singh.
Everybody, ready?
[man 4] He moved
the cultural gravity for Indian pop music.
He made Punjabi music cool
in the rest of India.
[man 3]
that have so much recognition
because of the doors
Honey
[man 4] He tapped into
that aspirational thing that,
"I'm gonna be a brown guy going abroad,
making the same videos we see
Black and white American guys doing."
[fans cheering]
[man 5] His songs were playing
at every club, every wedding.
When a song plays at a wedding,
that's when you know it's a hit.
But when a song plays on a tractor,
that's when you know you're a hit.
Honey has got this one superb thing
which nobody else has, which is
Yo Yo Honey Singh
[reporter 1]
used to be India's most popular rapper.
But, suddenly, Honey Singh
distanced himself from movies and songs.
[man 6]
of the upbringing they have given him.
[man 7]
is the reason why rapes take place.
[reporter 2]
slapped Honey Singh in a fit of anger.
[reporter 3]
is battling drug
[reporter 4]
of domestic violence.
[reporter 5]
Yo Yo Honey Singh
has disappeared
from the Bollywood music scene.
-[reporter 6]
-[reporter 7]
[reporter 8]
to make a comeback?
[reporter 9]
Will we see Honey Singh again?
[reporter 10]
What happened to Honey Singh?
[Honey] Now I'll tell you
what happened nine years ago.
No one knows what I'm about to say
in front of this camera today.
No one knows about it.
-[grunting]
-What the fuck!
-[soft guitar music playing]
-[audience cheering]
["Hai Mera Dil" playing]
Oye. You see my veins popping?
[softly] Fucking hell!
-Zack, the old days are back!
-[Zack] And not going back!
[man] Everybody, make some
Let's start with "Haaye Mera Dil."
[audience cheering]
["Hai Mera Dil" continues]
[Honey] I'm making
a comeback after seven years.
People had started saying,
"Honey Singh is done."
"His songs aren't working.
He's become fat."
"He's gone to a loony bin."
That's what I'm coming out of.
[audience cheering wildly]
I had to lock myself up in a room
for seven years, waiting,
"This will happen, that will happen."
I told myself, "Fuck this shit.
I need to get out."
"Nothing will happen."
That's when I came out of it.
[singing "Hai Mera Dil"]
Everybody, make some noise!
[audience cheering]
Love you, Honey
[audience chanting]
Honey Singh! Honey Singh! Honey Singh!
[music fades]
[Honey] My alarm was set for 10:00 a.m.
I've woken up at 1:00 p.m.
In order to function,
I need at least four hours to myself
after I wake up.
I can't meet anyone.
I can't really talk to anyone.
I just keep sort of fading in, slowly.
It's due to all the medication.
Yesterday, I slept at 5:00 in the morning.
Maybe even later than that.
The medication
is such that it knocks me out
and puts me into very deep sleep.
So, sleep is very important for me.
And when I wake up,
its effects are still there.
You know that when I was sick and at home,
I had postponed all my shoots
so that I could work on my fitness again
because my songs were releasing again,
I was making a gradual comeback.
But no one wants a fat Honey Singh.
[man] Two, three, four, five.
[Honey] There was a time
when I had accepted that I'm too old now,
I've become fat,
I won't be able to achieve
the look that my fans want,
that I should just keep making good songs
so that I can put food on the table.
That's the best thing to do.
My medication is high
on sodium and lithium,
which causes water retention
and makes you put on a lot of weight.
Luckily, my medication
has been reduced now.
And that's why
I'm able to see some results.
[man] While you're on these meds,
I hope you're not drinking.
[Honey] I've almost quit drinking now.
-[man] Really?
-Yeah, yeah, really.
I used to smoke up all the time,
20 joints, 12 joints, 15 joints a day.
So, I've kept things in balance
with a lot of difficulty.
I don't wanna play with that.
I don't wanna risk it again.
'Cause I don't want that thing
back in my life again.
Can you see them on camera?
-'Cause these are my favorites.
-[man] We have to see your abs, please.
The abs aren't ready yet.
I have a paunch, man. Just don't show it.
Go stand there and shoot me in the mirror.
[Honey] The thing is
when I was sick and at home,
I didn't really work for two years,
I didn't even touch my laptop.
Hello, everyone.
I was like,
"I can't write songs right now."
"I'm not in control of my mind."
Then Mummy told me
to start as a music producer.
Then I started calling
for vocals from different artists.
I feel like
this is me starting all over again,
as a music producer.
Let's go.
["Paris ka Trip" playing]
[Honey] Millind sent me a demo,
and I felt like it had a lot of potential.
The song was made on a trap beat.
I haven't written the song,
just written the rap for it.
But I thought,
"Let's-- Let's produce it the old way
like Honey Singh used to produce
on a
"And with the same kind of melodies
and comps and chords."
[man] Back in 2003, he came to my studio.
I heard his songs and I said,
"Fuck! This is what I want to do."
[song continues]
This is a dream come true.
I mean, as far as I am concerned,
my hero is Honey Singh.
[indistinct chatter]
[Honey] We're on the sets
of "Paris ka Trip."
It's my first comeback video,
and I'm very, very excited.
[man] Yo! Netflix is here.
What's happening, motherfuckers?
Yo Yo Honey Singh for life!
For life! For life!
-[in Hindi] What will it take, girl?
-[in English] 2022! We're coming, baby!
We are going to
fuck everything, motherfuckers!
We're coming! Dang motherfuckers!
We're shooting
Honey's video here in Delhi.
So, you guys stay tuned
'cause you do not wanna miss any of this.
It's gonna be hot.
It'll be the first video, man.
They'll see the transformation in this.
Yeah.
[Honey] I delayed
all my songs by seven months
because I was working on my fitness.
My fitness is ready,
and we're gonna shoot
nine music videos in three months.
It's going to be a new collection
of songs for my fans.
["Paris ka Trip" playing]
[reporter]
Yo Yo Honey Singh has finished shooting
for his new music video,
and this song is all set to be released.
Honey Singh is coming
after five, six years.
So, he's trying to come back.
So, he's doing good.
He just fell through the cracks
in between,
and now he's coming back?
It's great for him.
Whether he's gone
or he's come back, he's always there.
So, for me, according to me,
he was never gone.
[song continues]
He's a good producer,
a good deliverer of a certain type of hit,
who has a core audience
that will stick with him forever.
Honey
[man] He's reached a level where
he can always continue to put out music.
He'll fill out shows.
You can coast on that for a long time.
But Honey's vision is old now.
It's outdated.
[Honey] I've probably been coming here
for the past 25 or 26 years.
I used to walk here,
then I started coming on a cycle.
Then I started using a scooter.
Now, I come in my car.
Fantastic,
You can only get this in Karampura, man.
This is my place! My city!
My hood!
We used to sit around here, doing nothing.
We were free, both of us.
So, two jobless people met.
And we instantly connected.
Yeah. Since then up till now,
we have a connection.
[man 1] So, sometimes,
he would come on a scooter,
and the scooter wouldn't be clean.
There used to be
a lot of clothes drying here.
He'd say, "Give me a rag."
I'd say, "There's no rag."
He'd just take one of those clothes
to clean the scooter and sit on it.
-Namaste,
-[man 2] Come, come.
Let's go inside.
Even if it was
somebody's underwear or a towel.
Or someone's bra.
-Mozez
-[Mozez] Yeah?
This is where we used to sit every day.
And what happened one day
was this guy got jaundice.
Okay, so because of jaundice,
he got leave from school.
So, he was at home, resting.
I used to bring a bottle of beer,
tucked under my shirt, like this.
Just like this, yeah.
Then I'd hide it here under the sofa.
And we'd make him drink beer
while he had jaundice.
Ah! I found out today because he told me.
[Mozez] Oh, really? So, then, today,
you should give him a slap. No?
-No, no.
-[Mozez] Wow! How many years? 25 years?
-25 years.
-25-26 years.
-Let's go.
-Yeah, okay.
[Honey] Those were the days
when we would roam the streets carefree,
and everyone knew me back then,
and everyone knows me today as well.
[soft music playing]
[man] Sir! Sir! Honey sir! Sir, sir.
-Sir! Honey sir!
-[woman] Honey sir! Sir, hi!
[Rohit] She's the girl
who has posters of you all over her room.
-[Honey] Oh, this is that girl?
-[Rohit] Yeah.
Hi, sir. Hi.
I love you, sir.
Please let me shake your hand.
Come on. Come on, it's photo time.
Let's take a selfie, come on.
Okay? Thank you.
Take care. All the best.
Thank you, sir!
Oh, I love you so much!
I really love you so much.
All the best for every time, every song.
Your song is always the best song.
Come here. Come here.
[singing "Blue Eyes"]
Love you, take care.
["Blue Eyes" playing]
[song ends]
This is the house where I was born,
and this is where I spent
my childhood and my youth.
I used to sit right here
when I was a little kid,
and Mummy used to keep singing
while she cooked food for us.
Papa was always listening to music.
There was different music
playing throughout the house.
Papa used to listen
to vinyl records back then.
So, in a way, it was he
who pushed me towards music.
He spoiled me. If he didn't make me
listen to so much music,
if he didn't play
Mohammed Rafi or R.D. Burman,
I wouldn't have been exposed to music.
I wouldn't have had this music sense.
As a child, whatever he used to like,
those were the same things I liked.
So, I would fulfill my dreams through him.
I really wanted to be a singer,
but, sadly, my parents didn't allow it.
So, I put all my energy into him.
Go ahead. Live your dreams.
He would object to it,
and I would help him secretly.
[woman ] Looking at this picture,
it seems like
has taken exactly after you. Right?
[Bhupinder] What do you mean "seems like"?
Of course, he has.
This, I think, was
"I decided to write down
31 reasons why I love you."
"Well, honestly, this is not for you.
This is for your kids."
"And I really want them to know
how amazing their father is."
So, whenever
Don't cry.
So, whenever
I think they should read this.
And the first reason I've written is,
"Thank you for giving us
this beautiful and dignified life."
-Right?
-Hmm.
Because we are very proud of him.
-Right, Papa?
-Of course.
[sitar music playing]
[Honey] Papa and I
didn't see eye to eye back then.
Papa thought that I'd finish my BSc
and take over his business,
which I didn't want to do.
So, that was a difficult time for Papa
and a difficult time for me too.
I couldn't help my father
because I wanted to do something else.
I wanted to do music.
I was focused.
But it was a tough time for both of us.
[Sneha] I still remember
it was the War of DJ Awards.
Papa had no idea that
is, you know, competing in this.
We kept sitting outside,
waiting for him, till noon.
And then he came back at around 2 a.m.
All his friends came with
We were very happy.
[Bhupinder] His father was the happiest.
Honey asked him,
"I hope you won't stop me now."
And he said, "No, I won't stop you.
You go. Go and live your life."
-[man speaking indistinctly]
-[thumping music playing]
[man] It was 2003. Honey was coming up.
He had just started
making beats at that time.
He saw me at a club one day, rapping.
So, we met. The vibe was great.
He said, "Let's hit the studio."
[up-tempo music playing]
[Honey] I was just a music producer.
I never wanted to sing,
I never wanted to write.
I didn't even know how to write a song.
-[Pinaki] Uh, it's mellow. It's mellow.
-First, rehearse it.
Right now, the thing is
the lyrics aren't clear in your head.
First, rehearse them. Then after that,
you can put your level up.
-Okay, do it.
-[Honey] All right?
[up-tempo music playing]
[Pinaki and Honey singing]
[Pinaki] He's hard-working,
really hard-working, and really quick.
He'd come carrying
a CPU in his hand, his own CPU.
Dude was amazing.
That's how we started.
We were like, "Is that a CPU?"
He'd go, "Yeah, yeah, it's all good."
"You can plug it
wherever the fuck you want."
This is my CPU that I've had since 2006.
It has a handle on it.
On this, I had Acid Pro, FruityLoops,
Reason Propellerhead, Cubase.
I used to work on all these softwares.
This is the first Audigy 2 sound card
that I ever bought.
People, uh, kids who understand
sound engineering and musicians,
they would be familiar
with what a sound card is.
For my first few recordings,
I used this machine.
There used to be
a huge trunk kept right here.
And on top of that, I would put my CPU.
And I produced "Khadke Glassy"
sitting right here, in this room.
And I-- And I mixed the track here,
and I also mastered
the track here, myself.
And I got my first award
as a sound engineer in 2005.
This is where I did it.
And I was like, "I'm not stopping now."
[humming "Khadke Glassy"]
The music was so good,
everyone had it as their phone ringtone.
["Glassy" playing]
[Honey] I started writing, and the songs
I used to make were very urban.
But no one used to sing them.
So, when I started singing them,
that's when I began my journey
as a solo, independent singer
and performer.
["Glassy" continues]
[Bhanuj] The first four, five years
of his career,
he was very quick at seeing
how the winds changed
and-- and changing with it.
So, you know,
he tried that "Bhagat Singh" thing.
["Bhagat Singh" playing]
-He tried the hip-hop thing.
-["Nakhro" playing]
He tried being an Eminem-style,
gangsta-rapper for a little bit.
["Panga" playing]
Then he went into party-rap.
["Siftaan" playing]
"Party-rap by itself isn't working."
"But the sort of collabs I'm doing
with the folks guys are working."
"How do I bring these together?"
So, he was like,
"In
I'm going to have an international sound."
["Brown Rang" playing]
[Honey]
That sound was totally new for India,
in fact the whole world.
It didn't sound like any hip-hop song
that you've ever heard.
It didn't sound like a house song,
techno song, dubstep, whatever.
It was all Yo Yo Honey Singh's sound,
and it was an urban sound.
My friend said,
"Your brother has a show today."
"Do you wanna go?" I said, "Let's go."
That was my first show or concert,
or, you know, watching an artist perform.
I saw people screaming his name.
They wanted to touch him.
I was like,
"Oh my God! Is this my brother?"
"There are so many people who love him."
[reporter]
online video viewership
experienced a notable shift
towards mainstream content
with Honey Singh's "Brown Rang"
becoming the most trending
video of the year.
[man]
[woman] My favorite. Honey Singh!
["Gabru" playing]
[Millind] A Punjabi artist, born in Delhi,
captures Punjab,
captures pan India and Bihar,
captures Orissa,
then goes all the way to Chennai
and does a show there.
He's a Punjabi artist, mind you.
And the people in Chennai were singing
[in Hindi]
["Gabru" playing]
[song ends]
[in Punjabi] Yes.
[in Punjabi] Will your father agree?
He'll get me married
to anyone but a singer.
Ask your father to google my name.
His son-in-law is a superstar.
["Desi Kalakaar" playing]
[reporter]
After 20 years of dating, Shalini Talwar
has now become Shalini Singh.
Relationships like these are very rare.
[Honey]
is the woman who has loved me
and supported me the most.
The one who is my one and only
[man] So, is Honey Singh
married or single?
I've been happily married
for the last two years.
-Oh, really? You're married?
-Yes, two years.
It means what they're writing
in the newspapers is true.
Really? This was in the newspapers?
[reporter]
that Honey Singh's career will now
be managed by his wife, Shalini.
Let's see what changes Manager Shalini
will bring about in Honey Singh's career.
["Blue Eyes" playing]
[man] The first time I saw Honey
was at some concert.
He had just gotten off stage.
He was, like, full of energy and that's
the first time I saw Yo Yo Honey Singh.
["Blue Eyes" continues]
[in Hindi]
I started off as a music director
Today my friends are big actors
Bollywood releases many films every day
But for superhit films
Yo Yo is the X-factor
[Sneha] When a lot of his songs
featured in Bollywood movies,
then we actually realized that he's made
his name there. He's out there.
["Lungi Dance" playing]
International Icon Male. Honey Singh!
Best Music goes to
Yo Yo Honey Singh!
Please give it up for him!
-Yo Yo Honey Singh!
-Yo Yo Honey Singh!
[audience cheering]
[Honey] Things were good.
So, I was like, "Now, it's time
to make money. So, let's do it."
And it was fun. The energy was high.
I was seeing success
for the first time in my life.
[song ends]
[Mozez]
There's no windows in this house?
No, there are no windows.
There's no space, right?
-[Mozez] So, for 26 years, 24 years
-24 years.
-you lived in a house without windows?
-Without windows. But still got dreams.
-[Mozez] Still got dreams!
-Dreams!
-[Mozez] Still got dreams.
-It was so compact
that even when my eyes were open,
it felt like they were closed
and I was still dreaming.
[Mozez] Yeah.
This house is like a train box.
[Mozez] Yeah.
[Honey] It's like a train bo--
What do you call it? A compartment.
You go straight in a line
and, there, it's over.
When I was sick, I'd have these dreams
where I was waking up here.
So, I'd wake up and I'd be like,
"Hey, I'm actually in Noida."
"Oh, I thought I was sleeping over here,
sleeping here in Karampura."
This is what was happening to me.
I've never felt
like I've ever left this place,
and I don't think I ever can leave here,
nor do I ever want to.
[soft music playing]
[Honey] That's the thing, right?
Everything is a circle.
One wanders all over
and comes right back to the start.
And I don't want to end up anywhere else.
This is the place I want to come back to.
So, whenever I die, I want to be
brought back to this cremation ground.
If there's one thing
that I've understood about this world,
it's that the biggest lie in a man's life
is life itself.
Life is false, it's a lie.
Death is the truth. It's inevitable.
And no one can change that.
So, everything is temporary.
So, live it to the fullest.
So, that's why I try to stay happy
as far as I can.
I try to keep the people around me happy.
I crack all sorts of weird jokes.
I make my music. I dance a lot.
I perform for my fans.
I do what it takes to make people happy.
Happiness and joy, it's what I want
to give to this fucking world.
When I die, I want people to say,
"Fuck! This guy really lived life."
"He lived his life, the fucker."
[Honey] Who do I give the flowers to?
I don't have--
[woman] Hang them in the car.
They smell good.
-[Honey] In the car?
-[woman] It's jasmine.
This is all I have.
I don't have my wallet right now.
-[man] Thank you, sir!
-Thank you.
[woman] Shake hands?
-Do you know my name?
-[man] Honey Singh.
Honey Singh is not my name.
It's Yo Yo Honey Singh.
[man]
[all laughing]
[woman] You still look so smart.
[Honey] I still look smart?
She says I still look smart.
[woman] Are you on a diet?
You've lost weight.
-[Honey] Yeah, I'm on a diet.
-You had become a little
-[Honey] I'd put on weight, right?
-Yeah.
-[Honey] Now I'm back to my old self?
-You should make a comeback.
I'm back, I'm back. Don't worry.
You asked, right? "Why do you need
to lose weight and become thin?"
"Is it really important?"
"Do you want to do it
for yourself or for people?"
I told you, "It's for my fans."
They're noticing and asking,
"Are you on a diet? You've lost weight."
"You're looking like your old self.
You still look smart."
They even said,
"You'd put on weight in between."
So, they follow.
We're on our way to the "Designer" shoot.
We're going to the set.
Today, it's a fashion show setup.
Please don't laugh
when you see what I'm wearing.
I'll be doing some really weird stuff
in this video.
[indistinct chatter]
[Honey] "Designer" is the second song
in my comeback plan
after "Paris ka Trip,"
which was younger and peppier.
But "Designer" is back
with the old Honey Singh scale.
It's, like, grand, grand visuals
with an amazing artist, Guru Randhawa.
It's Guru's idea,
which I have expressed in my music
and which Mihir will depict
in his visuals today.
And me saying that,
"Make me your designer"
-Me also saying that, "Make me your"
-"Designer."
Guru Randhawa in the house.
We made this song in 2020.
-Yeah.
-Now we're shooting in '22.
He waited for me
to lose weight, to look good.
-I said--
-No,
You waited for us.
-To give us a chance on this music.
-No way.
You waited for us.
I remember I was in, uh, college.
And, uh,
had a show going on that day.
Obviously, I couldn't get tickets
for that show,
but I saw
But today, uh,
I'm getting to work with him.
So, I'm really, really having a lot of fun
and I'm feeling very proud.
This song demanded some good music.
So, I've created music for this song.
I didn't just make a beat for it.
I didn't just program the groove.
I've programmed everything
and the drop especially.
[humming "Designer"]
It's a high. It's a high, the drop.
["Designer" playing]
[song ends]
[people cheering]
Oh, fuck! They're recording this too.
What more do you guys want to see?
Check this out.
I'm wearing a white underwear.
It's Versace.
[Mozez, chuckles] What are you doing?
-I'm showing you my Versace underwear.
-[Mozez] Love it.
-You guys want to see everything, man.
-[Mozez] Yeah, we want to get in, babe!
-Fuck it.
-[all laughing]
["Ekhwaty" playing on speakers]
[song continues playing]
[singing "Ekhwaty"]
["Ana Sheikh" playing on speakers]
[song continues playing]
Paaji,
["Din Mein Leti Hai" playing on phone]
-[all laughing]
-Fucking bullshit, man.
This is fucking Indian music.
Why do you blame
motherfucking Yo Yo Honey Singh only?
Thank you, sir!
[Honey] People love me.
That's why I'm Yo Yo Honey Singh today.
Even these kids from the streets
still recognize me
because they have all loved me.
There are some people
who have accused me and defamed me,
saying, "This guy makes vulgar songs."
If I made vulgar songs,
would people have called me
to their sisters' weddings
to perform for them?
Would they invite me
to perform at their daughters' weddings?
I sing all the songs
that I'm known for there.
From "Enna Vina Dope Shope Maare"
to "Aunty Police Bulalegi" to everything.
And they go mad. They go wild on them.
[Mozez] Are you apologetic
about any of it?
None of it.
None of it.
[Mozez] Tell me which is the song
you said is your favorite song?
"Blue Eyes."
-[Mozez] Mine too. Yours?
-[singing "Blue Eyes"]
[Mozez] "Blue Eyes"?
You all keep saying the same song.
What was the one with Shah Rukh,
the Shah Rukh one?
-[singing "Lungi Dance"]
-"Lungi Dance."
[woman] "Brown Rang!"
"Brown Rang!" Who said "Brown Rang"?
-[woman] I [chuckles]
-That's my favorite song.
[woman] That's my favorite too.
[singing "Brown Rang"]
Whoa!
"Brown Rang 2" is coming up.
Whoa!
No, but I like "Brown Mundey."
[Honey] That's not even my song!
-[all laugh]
-Really?
-[Honey] "Brown Rang."
-"Brown Rang," right.
Yeah, "Brown Mundey."
So, I'm gonna listen to
Honey Singh's song tomorrow and--
She's not my fan at all, okay?
[Honey sighing]
Today, I'm having fun.
There are so many girls
so many girls to interact with.
Yesterday and the day before,
it was very subtle.
If I'd jumped around there,
it would've looked weird.
Who jumps around in a fashion show?
I've already performed in a fashion show.
It was for the Miss India pageant.
I was on the jury too.
When I performed there
Check out my performance there.
It's completely different
from all my other performances.
I was just like that, very subtle.
Girls were moving around
and all that stuff.
[Mozez] This Miss India performance,
that happened after the
2014. Yeah.
[Mozez] When did
the
[Mozez] Fuck! It's already been
ten years since it happened?
We were reading about it and we were like,
"Okay, on the one hand,
all of this is happening,
and on the other hand, he's still
performing at Miss India." It was weird.
But what-- What's the
got to do with me?
Why did you mention
the
You should have started the conversation
with the "Balatkaari" song.
[Mozez] 'Cause the controversy
started after that.
Whatever it is! But why is my name
being mentioned with
[Mozez] Correct.
But "Main Hoon Balatkaari"
existed before
But that's not my song either.
[Mozez] At that time,
no one had made that connection, Honey.
Yeah, but I still got dragged in.
[people chanting] We want justice!
[reporter 1]
a 23-year-old student
was brutally assaulted on a moving bus.
[reporter 2]
held a protest at India Gate,
in response to the brutal rape,
demanding justice.
We want justice!
[Sneha] It was 2012,
Bhaiya's
and that was when
the
I was there, protesting,
because being a woman,
I know how it feels, right?
After two days,
or maybe three days, I was in office,
and, uh, I just read
this news about my brother,
that, you know,
he made this song to glorify rape.
He's made a song.
It's called "Main Hoon Balatkaari."
It's so dirty.
He's made such a dirty song.
I heard the song today.
It-- It made my blood boil.
I'm at a loss for words.
We have asked for an FIR
to be filed against him.
[reporter 3]
in Vadodara, Gujarat,
is being strongly protested.
[reporter 4]
Tu Mera Bhai, Main Tera Bhai
has been released today.
People are holding
demonstrations against it.
[people protesting]
[Sneha] The media changed everything
with one story.
The media didn't really think
it was necessary
to even figure out
if this was really Honey Singh's song.
When I haven't even sung the song
"Main Hoon Balatkaari,"
I'm being dragged
to these different courts
for the last 10 months and, uh
When the court dismissed the PIL,
then the CFS have got involved.
And now it's all gone too far.
The kind of songs he's always made,
it is easy to assume that maybe,
giving him the benefit of
the doubt, maybe he has written it.
"Main Hoon Balatkaari"
was not written by me or sung by me.
He was all over the media.
Everyone started hating him.
Everyone started
accusing him as if he was the rapist.
What is this obscenity
you've been spreading in the country?
Vulgar songs, vulgar lyrics.
Everything I've learned about the world,
how I express myself,
it's by listening to others.
I've learned it all amongst people.
This is society itself.
People like blaming artists.
We're used to it.
We already know that
people will talk no matter what we do.
But the whole family gets abused, man.
We used to get threats.
People used to say, "We--
We'll shoot him whenever we see him."
[voice breaking] We lived in fear.
[Honey] Today, after six or seven months,
I can catch my breath.
When you're persecuted
for doing absolutely nothing,
you go through such turmoil,
you can't imagine. Only I know.
You will see that reflected
in my upcoming songs too.
["Bring Me Back" playing]
[tires squealing]
-[car crashing]
-[siren blaring]
[Mozez] We know
he didn't sing the song "Balatkaari."
-But he did sing the song "Choot," right?
-I've never heard it.
-[Mozez] Never heard it?
-No.
Tung, tung, tung
-I love it. We groove to it.
-Tung, tung
I've never listened to that song complete.
-Tung, tung
-I heard, but I don't know if it's him.
Tung, tung, dun, dun
So "Choot Vol. 1" is this song
that these guys apparently wrote,
"Mafia Mundeer,"
which is Badshah, Honey Singh,
and Ikka, Lil Golu, and Raftaar.
The people who've redefined
the genre of music,
they feel like the world
is nothing in front of them.
The world belongs to them.
There's this time period
of immaturity, bro, teenagers have,
you know, where they do stupid things.
We also did stupid things.
We were all young. We were kids.
We were growing up,
getting to know the world.
[in Punjabi] "You've been fucked
by 25 villages."
"My dick is now ready."
"I'll take your pussy with me today."
[in English] So, basically,
they're saying,
"I'm going to fuck you,
and my dick has prepared itself for that."
"So, you know, my manhood is dependent
on the fact that I'm going to fuck you."
It's very aggressive, very, like, sort of,
like, bordering on violent
in terms of its imagery.
It's not just about women
or how it makes them feel.
It's also about the fact that
where is the man
who's writing this coming from?
And wherever that may be,
has he now, whatever his age is,
30-year-old something,
40-year-old something,
has he-- has he now reflected back on it?
[Mozez] Do you regret doing the song?
The song is not mine.
-[Mozez] You're saying it's not your song?
-No.
[Mozez] It's been attributed as your song.
It's been attributed
as a "Mafia Mundeer" song
with you, Badshah, and Ikka.
It's not just your song--
There can be many songs like this
attributed to Mozez Singh
on the internet tomorrow.
Would you like that?
-[Mozez] Come on, you know it's your song.
-No, it's not.
A lot of artists have horrible songs
stuck around
somewhere on their hard disks.
For me, the bigger problem
is not that he did a song like "Choot,"
which is awful,
but also, I don't think,
intended for mass release.
The issue is that, like,
the sort of attitudes
that are visible on that song,
it's the same idea of what role
women play in their music.
It's a little more grown up,
less in your face, less raw version
of the same sort of thinking.
["Saiyaan Ji" playing]
I don't feel particularly comfortable
listening to his songs.
["Love Dose" playing]
Money, cars, wealth.
Comparing brown girls, white girls.
How many chicks,
how many break-ups you've had.
Close-up shots of waists and hips.
Yeah, his songs are a little misogynistic.
They absolutely are, but
Childhood crush!
We've grown up listening to Honey's music.
His songs sound nice
because he's creating something.
["First Kiss" playing]
[Sumati] When you listen
to a song like this,
and it comes from
this immense source of star power,
when that gives it validation that,
"Hey, Honey Singh is singing this song."
"Look at where he's reached
singing songs like this."
That is what I had an issue with.
I just wanted to work.
I made this decision when I was shooting
the "Dope Shope" music video.
["Dope Shope" playing]
So I used to see girls in Delhi
who were smoking weed.
I saw them dancing to this song
called "Tonight I'm fucking you"
by Enrique Iglesias.
So, I was like,
"If this guy is writing such bold lyrics,
and he's taking two girls on a yacht
and kissing them both in the music video,
he's doing all this and the girls
are loving it and they're smoking up,
so should I try this too?"
So, I also shot on a video on a yacht.
If you watch the "Dope Shope" video,
you'll see girls wearing skimpy clothes,
there's dancing going on and all that.
I did it. People accepted it.
People really liked it.
So, I tried it, and it worked out.
So, then I kept on doing it.
They all say,
"This is what the audience wants,"
which is the worst cop out. Ever.
[Mozez] Why? But it is what they want.
Yes, and so then are you an artist
or are you a supplier?
Are you a vendor?
No human being's motive
is ever to hurt anyone.
It's just to entertain people.
And getting so much hate
-An accusation is an accusation.
-for no reason.
Well, any normal person
will get mentally affected by all of this.
I still remember
that two of his projects
were going on together.
There was
and then there was the Temptation Tour.
[in Hindi]
Raw Star
[in English] Hey, I'm tired, man.
That was a really stressful time.
At the same time, I was doing
shows and releasing albums.
"Blue Eyes" and "Lungi Dance"
were being shot, all this simultaneously.
It was all so new to me, you know?
I couldn't stand the idea
of saying no to anything.
I wanted to do everything,
and I forgot I'm not Superman.
It took us seven hours
to get here from Mumbai.
We could get to England in so much time.
[Sneha]
I saw For the first time ever,
I saw him questioning,
"How am I going to do this?"
[Sarabjit]
up to three to four shows in one day.
Although we lived in Noida,
after a show, he wouldn't come home.
He would just keep himself busy.
After that, out of 365 days,
we wouldn't see him for 300 days.
That's how busy he was.
[audience cheering]
[Bhupinder]
any time to spend with us.
[Sarabjit]
[Bhupinder]
he started drinking a lot,
which I found out about much later.
[Sarabjit]
and you keep driving it,
what will happen to it?
At that time, we were helpless.
You're driving the car, and the steering
is in someone else's hands.
He wasn't in control.
I'm in Ranchi!
So, Ranchi, make some noise!
[audience cheering]
[Honey] Everything happened together.
India's
and Shah Rukh
"You're coming with me on the SLAM Tour."
I said, "All right, let's go."
The next day, we took a flight
and went straight to America.
In ten days,
we flew to America four times.
Four times. Back and forth.
We're going there, coming back,
going there, coming back.
[Sneha] It was
the second shoot for
I got news that
the first episode did not go well.
He was not confident.
He was fearful, and he was not himself.
At that time, we could not decide
whether we need to stop right now
and go back home and rest.
The time it took us to understand that
and cancel any commitments,
we were already too late.
In the middle of all that,
the Temptations tour came up.
[audience cheering]
Yo Yo, it's your boy, Yo Yo Honey Singh.
I'm coming with the one and only
biggest superstar, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan.
[lively music playing]
[in Hindi] This show is gonna rock!
[in English]
Gradually, I developed symptoms
of suspicion and paranoia,
that someone's conspiring against me,
someone's going to frame me,
something weird like that.
Maybe they'll file a case against me.
I didn't really understand
what was happening with me.
Why was I feeling like this?
It was 4:00
It was 3:00 a.m. here in India
and he was in the US,
and he was supposed
to go for his sound check.
He messaged me, "I'm not feeling okay."
And this was the first time
he said something.
[somber music playing]
I was in my room. He messaged again,
"Something's not right with me.
See what I'm doing."
I said,
He said, "Can you come on Skype?"
I said, "Yes."
And then he said that
-"Please bring me back."
-[Sneha] "Please just save me."
[voice breaking]
He said,
And then
he disconnected.
And I-- I was trying
to reach out to Shalini.
She said, "He has to do this shoot.
You convince him to do this show."
And I said, "I can't."
"Because, see,
this is what he's sending me."
"He just said that he's not feeling okay.
Something bad is happening."
His body wasn't allowing it,
nor was his mind.
And, for three hours,
we had no contact with them.
Then, three hours later,
I got news that he's in the hospital.
He's got stitches.
[reporter 1]
Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh
during the SLAM Tour promotion.
[reporter 2]
unprofessional behavior that provoked
[reporter 3]
asked him to leave the show.
[Honey] Someone spread the rumor
that Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh.
That man loves me so much,
he'd never do that.
Now, I'll tell you
what happened nine years ago.
No one knows what I'm about to say
in front of this camera today.
No one knows about it.
When they took me along
for the Chicago show,
I said, "I don't wanna do this show."
I felt like I'd die during that show.
I wasn't ready for the show.
They said, "Get him ready. Come on."
My management team turned up.
They said, "Get ready.
Why aren't you getting ready?"
The people with me said, "Get ready."
I said, "I'm not going,
I already told you."
I said, "I'm not going."
I went to the washroom, took a trimmer,
and I shaved my hair off.
I said, "How can I perform now?"
They said, "Wear a cap and perform."
I said, "You're not even listening to me."
I said, "I don't want to go!
I don't want to go!"
I kept sitting in the chair like this.
"I'm not performing today!"
There was a coffee mug lying there.
I picked it up and smashed it on my head.
That day, I think I was very assertive
and I said, "Bring him back."
He's everything, you know.
If anything happens to him,
there's no point.
So, we took the decision
that work needs to stop.
"You come home."
"We'll figure out
what needs to be done after that."
[birds chirping]
[overlapping distorted voices]
[Honey] It's bipolar disorder.
Along with that,
I had some psychotic symptoms too.
It's like your mind is in overdrive,
and you spiral out of control.
You're thinking all sorts of things,
all sorts of things
that are completely unfounded.
You know how you have dreams?
But these dreams
are playing out in real life.
[tense music playing]
Even when the house help came home,
I'd get scared, thinking,
"She's looking at me and laughing, see."
She'd be mopping the floor,
and I'd think there's blood fallen there,
she's cleaning up the blood.
This is what was going on in my head.
I had this strange feeling
that I'd probably
never see my parents again,
that I might get trapped somewhere.
People say, "I've been through hell,
I've been through hell." I saw hell.
I saw death. I wished for death every day.
[reporter] Honey sir, are you okay now?
Sir, we heard you were depressed, sir.
Is this true? Honey sir?
[Honey] I let my hair grow out,
let my beard grow out.
I wouldn't meet anyone.
I'd sleep all the time, cry all the time.
[unsettling music playing]
I'd stare at the moon all night,
look at how it's changing.
I'd stare at it
for a really long time, really long.
I'd feel like it's been
like six or seven hours,
and only 15 minutes would've passed.
My day just wouldn't get over.
I just couldn't understand what to do.
Locked up in a room, I wouldn't come out.
I kept feeling like
someone's going to die now.
There's prayers being held at home.
Now, someone's gonna die.
Someone's gonna die now.
I'd wait and see, "Who's gonna die?
I'd keep watching, "Who's dead?"
I'd go and look in all the rooms,
"Who's dead?"
Then I'd see nobody's dead.
Then I'd think,
"Maybe it's me who's gonna die,
that's why they're all praying."
"Maybe I'm gonna die today."
[tense music playing]
I know it gets really boring
that I keep talking about this
over and over again.
I just want to tell you, "Fuckers,
you have no idea what it's like."
It's a motherfucker of a disease.
If your liver or kidney fails,
one of your brothers
can give you his kidney.
If he's not ready,
you can get a kidney from the market.
If your mind is fucked,
who will give you theirs?
Where will you get one?
How can it be fixed?
I used to think,
"Will I ever be okay again?"
At that time,
I would constantly keep thinking,
"He's low. Make him happy."
"Do something. Do something silly."
"Talk memories, childhood."
"Get something that he really likes."
Now, when I'm telling you all of this,
I actually feel very stupid
because I'm more educated
about the illness now, you know?
We met really good doctors,
and they really helped us
and they really educated us.
[Honey] Everyone at home
is aware of this now.
They know about mental health problems
because they've seen it now.
They've seen me.
I was reduced to nothing in front of them.
Now, they understand
what this illness is about.
They used to walk around
with stacks of files for me,
my mother, my sister, my wife,
from this doctor
to that doctor to this doctor.
He came and told us himself,
"I need your help. Get a doctor." He--
He said, "I don't understand
what is happening--"
"I don't understand
what is happening to me."
"I really need-- I want a doctor."
The day he accepted that,
"These are my symptoms,
these are my thoughts,
I have to work on them,"
that day was actually, you know,
when we saw improvement in his health.
So, that took us a long time
to reach there, to that point.
More than a year?
Yeah. More than a year.

[Sneha] I still remember, when in 2016,
Bhaiya's
and the first award ceremony he attended,
he was sitting
right next to Shah Rukh Khan sir
so that the media should know
that nothing happened.
And he was really nice to
2016, '17, by the time it was 2018,
Bhaiya
And then he started talking about work.
He was still on his medication.
He knew he had gained weight.
And still, he would carry that weight
with a lot of grace.
Around that time, because of "Makhna,"
there was pressure on him to go to Cuba.
Yo, yo, yo, it's your boy,
Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Singsta's here, TDO is there,
Nidhi is there.
My wife is there.
[Sneha]
We got a lot of criticism for his looks.
His long hair. His face looks bloated.
His thought process was like,
"I don't think my fans, my people,
will accept me the way I look."
So, he started thinking on the lines of,
"Now I'm going to compose music
and give songs to--"
I was like, "No! They want to see you!"
[soft music playing]
Even our family's
spiritual Guru, Acharyaji,
he motivated
Things changed.
The weight started coming down.
We saw him getting better.
We saw that confidence back,
that smile on his face.
So, that's where we are now.
He's fit. He's healthy.
Doctors have given him a routine.
But for him to follow his routine
is-- is very important.
And his sleep.
His sleep shouldn't be disturbed,
and he shouldn't miss his dose.
If we are going to perform somewhere,
we arrive in that city a day in advance.
We make sure we sleep properly.
We rest properly.
We wake up the next day at our own pace.
We do the shows. We sleep again.
The next day, we wake up
and catch the night flight
to another city.
[Bhupinder] It doesn't matter
if he gets free by 2:00 or 3:00 a.m.,
I make sure I talk to him.
When has he woken up? Has he eaten or not?
Is he relaxed or not?
So when he works too much,
I remind him that he needs
to take a break in the middle.
Those two years
when I didn't have any work,
it was a horrible time for me.
I mean, a young man is sitting at home
and just sleeping
till 12:30 in the afternoon,
and his father's going to work,
and I'm just watching.
I mean, whenever our eyes would meet,
I would feel ashamed of myself
that I'm not earning
and my father is still working at his age.
[music fades]
[sniffling]
[voice breaking]
My parents have really done a lot for me.
And I haven't really been able
to do anything for them.
Now they do nothing but wait for me.
"When will he come? When will he come?"
And I can't even sit with them.
And when I was at home, I was like
a fucking dead body, a fucking corpse.
They've seen me at my worst.
I've been to hell and back.
[soft music playing]
So, now, I'm mindful of the fact
that no matter how busy I get,
I still look after them.
All I want to say is that
whoever's watching this documentary,
just take care of your parents,
that's all.
Because once they are gone,
they won't come back.
[music fades]
So, this is, uh,
all the medication I take.
Mummy makes a pouch for me.
I mean, I can do it myself,
I'm a grown-up guy.
Look, Mummy makes the whole dose for me.
This is my whole dose, all cut up.
This much of this, three pills of this,
two pills of that, and one pill of this.
[Mozez] This is one time?
This is one day's dose?
One day's dose.
This medication starts taking effect
around an hour and a half after I take it,
and I start to feel sleepy.
I'm feeling very "up" right now,
and if I don't take the medication,
then I won't be able to fall asleep.
And if I don't sleep, then the next day,
I won't be able to function properly
and something could definitely go wrong.
["Gulon Main Rang" playing]
You know, in life,
I never wanted to lose control of myself.
The one thing
I've been trying to tell you is that
my mind being out of my control
was the one thing
I never wanted to happen.
And that's exactly what happened to me.
I fell sick,
and my mind was not in my control.
It takes a lot of effort
to keep things in balance for me.
So, I don't wanna play with that,
with drugs, alcohol, too much work,
or not enough sleep, too much exertion.
I don't wanna risk it again.
Because I don't want that thing
back again in my life.
["Gulon Main Rang" continues]
[song ends]
[drums playing]
[Honey] I make a lot of plans for myself.
I try to design and shape my own career.
My guru, Acharyaji, always says,
"You're God's child.
What you think
And it does happen.
If I plan four big things for myself,
14 things happen.
And they come to me.
I've been sent a song by Mr. Salman Khan.
His song has been lying ready,
and he's shooting it in a couple of days.
I'm getting this opportunity.
All I have to do is sing it.
I just have to sing it.
He also said, "If you want
to try rapping on this, you can."
I'll see if I can come up with something,
then I'll probably rap on it.
["Let's Dance Chotu Motu"
playing on speakers]
[song ends]
I think we'll have to add a rap to this.
[Millind]
Sir, where's the chorus in this song?
That's what I was thinking.
There's no chorus.
-It's one line after another.
-You sing the chorus. We'll make it.
[in Hindi] We can do something
in a cartoon style. Something from--
[in Hindi] We can of course say,
"I'm in love with a girl."
"I'm actually a brave boy,
but I get a bit scared."
[in Hindi] "Someone please tell her this.
Explain this to her."
"I'm her Nobita, she's my Shizuka.
I want to meet her."
"I don't know."
-"I don't know."
-"I don't know."
[humming the tune]
[up-tempo music playing]

I've just got to meet you, I don't know
[in English] Make a beat for it
and bounce it, we'll write it outside.
[singing "Let's Dance Chotu Motu"]
[in Hindi] Yeah, this could be
the start for the song.
[music continues playing]
[continues singing]
[humming]
How will it sound?
[people cheering]
["Let's Dance Chotu Motu" playing]
For
I had this thought.
And so I gave it to, uh, Honey,
and he went to the studio.
In half an hour, he finished a rap.
And then, I requested Honey to come
and to be in this song with us.
It's a really cool song for kids.
[song continues playing]
[Honey] Lots of things are happening.
A lot of songs are being made,
a lot of shoots are happening.
I'm doing shows back to back
because I'd stopped doing those.
And I do a lot
of wedding performances now.
The demand for those has gone up so much
that we aren't able to sort out our dates.
What dates can we give
and what dates can we not?
["Manali Trance" playing]
[Jazzy B]
and let the negativity go.
And he's back.
[Sneha] We thought life is good.
Everything is sorted now.
And he's working,
he's happy, he's feeling okay.
So even I resumed my work,
and we all got busy.
When I actually decided,
"Okay, now things are fine," you know,
everyone is now sorted,
Mom, Dad, my brother,
then a major setback happened.
[reporter 1]
has been accused of domestic violence.
Honey Singh's wife, Shalini Talwar,
has moved a plea
in Delhi's Tis Hazari Court.
I just want to tell everybody
that today was my hearing.
I couldn't come to the last hearing
because I was sick.
And the judge has provided some
excellent counselling for Shalini and me.
I trust the judiciary completely.
Whatever happens,
I know will be for the best.
[reporter 2] We just heard Shalini Singh
has not just accused Honey Singh
but also his mother, father,
as well as his younger sister
of all sorts of exploitation.
Who all do we prove things to?
No one will believe us
because the world outside
was a very difficult place
with all the controversies
that were happening.
So, yeah, it was a difficult time.
[soft music playing]
[reporter 3]
that started in school
has now come to an end.
[reporter 4]
an out-of-court settlement.
Shalini Talwar has dropped all charges,
and the two of them
are now legally divorced.
[Mozez] Do you want to talk
a bit about the divorce, Honey?
You want to tell me what happened?
[Honey] We've both signed an MoU,
so we can't talk about it.
But I wish her all the best in her life.
I wish she has a great life ahead.
It's like I said before, right?
It's all a circle.
Life's right here within this circle.
This circle, it keeps turning,
keeps coming back
and everything finds balance.
You keep reaping what you sow.
Like the old saying,
"What goes around comes around."
And I believe in this.
[people reciting prayers]
[devotional music playing]
[Sneha]
we've had one problem after the other.
So, as a family,
we haven't really been able to enjoy life.
Now,
And all the struggles
and setbacks he's had,
now he's coming back.
I think "Designer"
is getting launched tomorrow.
And soon after that,
there's a collaboration planned
with Lil Pump, called "Casanova."
So, the pressure on him to give
a hit song like before is very high.
We are also a little stressed,
but we are praying.
[Mozez] Are you ready
for what happens with you now?
[Honey] Sir, I was born ready
for everything, okay?
I'm ready for hits. I'm ready for flops.
I'm ready for more success.
I'm ready for more failure.
Yo, yo, it's your boy, Yo Honey Singh.
A big shoutout to all my fans.
My latest song
is out there for all of you.
You can now listen
to my latest song, "Designer."
Download my new song on Apple Music,
on Wynk music app,
and on the Hungama Music app.
Let the
[Millind]
We were all waiting for this. Finally.
["Designer" playing]
[Honey] Create your own reels on my song,
"Designer," using #designer.
We will share the best one on Instagram.
["Casanova" playing]
This sound will go everywhere.
[man] Sounding good already.
Baila, baila, baila,
[song continues playing]
What's up, guys? It's Lil Pump.
I'm coming to Dubai
to shoot the biggest song ever
with Yo Yo Honey Singh and DJ Shadow.
We're making history. Shit!
[song continues playing]
[man]
these latest ones, some were really good,
but some were
not really like his old-school style.
He's making new songs,
but I'm not really liking them.
-I still really like his old songs.
-I'm a little disappointed by him.
"Dope Shope" had a good vibe.
Something like that
will come out soon, it'll come.
We're still waiting for that.
There was a time when the DJ
wouldn't stop playing Honey's songs.
Uh, bring back the old you.
Not exactly at the top of his game,
but he's going to get there soon.
I feel that
since he's climbed that ladder before,
since he's already done that,
he won't be able to climb that high again.
THE WORST SONG
OF HONEY SINGH'S LIFE AND INDIA!
SOUNDS LIKE A KID COMPOSED I[music stops]
[soft music playing]
[Honey] My audience from ten years ago
were all young back then.
When I wrote songs about alcohol,
"Let's smoke up," and all of that,
they used to enjoy it.
Now, they're all married.
If I make songs like "Manali Trance,"
they're not gonna
let their kids listen to it.
I don't wanna do all that gangsta stuff.
When I was younger, I sang songs
like "Panga" and all of those.
But now that's the only thing
people expect from me.
So, I just don't know what I should do.
I don't feel like it.
I don't know. I'll see.
If this whole thing doesn't work,
then I'll write and sing those songs,
if that's all they wanna hear from me.
[Sneha]
a very good understanding
that he has to change with time.
And in all these years,
we have seen that change in him.
[man] He's had time to kinda reflect on it
and do all those things.
So maybe there'll be an understanding
or a shift in all that stuff.
But, to me, I think
it's part of an artist's journey.
It's taking everything that's going on
around him in the community and society,
and how they navigate that to their music
and how they push that forward.
Man, that's being an artist.
Hello.
-[Sarabjit] I'm fine.
-[Bhupinder] Good morning! Hi.
[-Honey] I'm feeling really hungry.
-Momos!
Manish!
-What are you making?
-[Sarabjit]
You make chicken in a
it's
[all laughing]
-Want some?
-Make me some green juice.
Just taste this.
No, no, you have it. Not now. Not now.
No, Papa, I won't have this.
Manish, make me some green juice.
[Sarabjit] This is new.
Somebody's changed.
-[Bhupinder] Did you have anything?
-[Honey] He's making me a green juice.
Green juice? You don't want momos?
-No, I don't feel like it.
-Why?
-I'll have some later.
-Okay.
-Get me some water, Manish.
-[Bhupinder] What?
Get him some water.
[soft music playing]
-Was it nice?
-Listen, uh
Give me just two pieces of that chicken.
-Get the chicken.
-The chicken that Papa's made.
This would've been amazing with a
Man, this is delicious.
[Bhupinder] He's had a wish for a while
that he wants to adopt a child.
A daughter.
And he talks to me about it all the time.
And I'm like,
"Yeah, okay, let's adopt one."
[Honey] The date
hasn't been announced yet?
Yeah, because I have a show
on the 19th, so
It's in India. That means I'll have
to come back to India by the 17th.
I'm going to America now, right?
We have a corporate show on the 10th.
So, it's gonna be 75% foreigners
and 25% Indians.
Okay, okay. Okay, bye.
[Bhupinder]
Oh-ho-ho, it's raining heavily.
Bye.
So, we flew into Chicago
and the show was the next day.
As we were exiting the airport,
I saw a signboard.
A signboard that said "Chicago Loop."
Something clicked for me.
I was like, "Fuck, loop?"
I started thinking which city was I in
when I had to leave the SLAM Tour?
I was like, "Fuck, it was Chicago!"
We go to the hotel, sir.
I told Indo,
"Bro, this is the same hotel."
He said, "What same hotel?
We're coming here for the first time."
I said, "Remember
when we came here nine years ago,
when all that shit went down?"
You won't believe it,
but when I went inside,
my suite was the same as well.
The same TV was hanging there.
I could see the spot where I made
a Skype call to my mother and sister,
crying, saying that,
"I don't want to do this show."
I felt like I'd suddenly gone
nine years back in time.
I said, "No.
The man up there is testing me."
I woke up the next day,
everything was normal.
It was the day of the show.
I woke up at 3:00 p.m.
But as we got
closer and closer to showtime,
I started getting anxiety all over again.
I started getting bad thoughts again,
that today is the day.
Back then, I had escaped death,
but today, I'm going to die for sure.
It had to happen in Chicago.
I was trimming my beard,
and I kept getting flashbacks
of when I was shaving my head.
My hand kept going up,
"Should I shave my head again today?"
I couldn't figure out what I needed to do.
I sat in my car,
and I called my doctor straight away.
My doctor is really my angel.
He said, "What'll happen?
You messed up nine years ago."
"You can mess up today too.
That's the worst you can do."
"Just go mess up the show.
Don't worry about it."
"Don't mess your health up."
"Mess the show up if you have to.
That's fine."
I felt a bit lighter then.
I thought, "That right, what'll happen?"
"The show will be ruined
or I won't be able to perform."
"I'm just feeling anxious.
I'm just getting scared."
While I was performing the show,
I didn't make eye contact
with anyone at all.
No matter how many people
I'm performing for,
whether it's 2,000 people
or 20,000 people,
I always make eye contact with everyone.
Because that's what gives me energy,
that's the thing that gives me strength,
looking into the eyes of my fans.
I kept asking, "How much time is left?
How much time is left?"
Finally, they said, "Time's up. Let's go."
We left from there.
On our way back,
when I was in the car, I relaxed.
I was like, "That's all it was."
But I did say one thing on stage.
I left this show in half
because I got sick.
Because of you people, I came back.
-[audience cheering]
-You brought me back!
This was the city where I lost everything,
and I came back here
and completed the loop.
I took my meds and went to bed.
I woke up the next day happy
and did the rest of the America tour.
[serene music playing]
[Honey] We plan
a lot of things in our lives,
but the Almighty decides
what will happen and when.
And whatever it may be,
it'll come to you when the time is right.
It'll only come into your life
when the time is right.
It has a fixed time period,
and it'll leave your life too
when it has to.
A person can be proud
and think to themselves,
"Oh, see, I've achieved this,
I've achieved that."
"I've built this empire.
I've got a bungalow, a mansion, a car."
When God decides, it'll happen.
And if He decides it won't,
it won't happen.
Whatever projects, songs,
or films that happen,
documentaries that happen,
have already been written in my story
by the Almighty.
We're just here enjoying the ride.
[Sneha] After so much, I think
Bhaiya
"We'll handle it. We'll fix it."
The worry will never go.
I don't know why.
What I know is that he's-- he's a fighter.
And he will fight.
If he has to come back, not once,
not twice, not thrice,
he will come back
for the 1,000th time if he has to.
But he will come back.
[Honey] Earlier when I used
to make a song, I knew this will work.
I used to say it.
Today, I have 52 songs in my bank,
and I can't say, "This will work"
about any of them.
It's not like my confidence is gone.
It's the scene that's changed.
No song runs for more than two weeks.
I need to understand this trend.
When I first entered the industry,
everyone thought,
"Where did Honey Singh come from?"
But I had 10 years of homework
behind me then.
And I've started that same homework again.
[triumphant music playing]
Make some noise!
[audience cheering]
If a person disappears from the scene
for seven minutes or seven days,
people forget about them.
But even after seven or eight years,
people still remember me,
they listen to my songs, buy my tickets,
come to watch my shows.
So, I just gotta keep trying, keep going.
[audience cheering]
[music continues]
[audience cheering]
[music continues]
[Mozez] Earlier you said
this is gonna be your comeback year--
[Honey] No, no, no.
This is not the comeback.
That'll be fucking huge.
I'll do something that will make the world
go crazy all over again.
The first shot of Part 2
will be Dr. Dre and I
sitting in the studio together.
And it'll fucking happen!
[fans chanting]
Honey Singh! Honey Singh! Honey Singh!
[chanting fades]
["I Don't Give a Fizz" playing]
I need to turn off the speaker, cameraman.
Please step aside.
This is the button that you push
to shut shop.
And now it's off.
[music stops playing]
[soft music playing]
[music builds]
[music ends]
