Blood Sacrifice (2026) s01e01 Episode Script
Episode 1
[caller] The shower wall broke open
and fell on my grandson.
It sliced his leg,
I don't know what to do.
-[operator 1] 112. What's your emergency?
-[caller 2] She took some painkillers.
The bottle's open. I don't know how many.
[operator 2] And the cross road
is Queen St.?
[caller 3] Yeah, the guy got sideswiped.
[operator 3] I understand.
Did you see it when it happened?
[caller 3] His car slid into a power line.
It's pretty bad.
[operator 3] The car struck a power line?
Is anyone in the car?
[caller 3] Yeah, he's sitting in the car.
I think he's been drinking.
-[phone ringing]
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?

KRÄFTSTIGEN 7, VÄRMDÖ
[music fades out]
[officer] Yeah, I know. It's not perfect,
but you should stick with it.
Keep watching. It's worth it, for sure.
After the second episode
the show gets way, way better.
Nah, it's too late for that.
She already finished the whole thing.
[officer] Didn't you say
you were watching it together?
[chuckles lightly] No, I said that
we started watching together.
Then I went to bed.
And when I woke up,
she'd binged the entire season.
-[officer chuckles]
-[radio beeps]
[dispatcher] Assault in progress, 4-7.
Calling all units to Värmdö.
-Calling all units.
-[radio beeps]
35-20. We're on patrol in Värmdö. Over.
[dispatcher] 35-20, there's an ongoing
assault on Kräftstigen 7.
An assault at Kräftstigen 7. Over.
[officer 2] Copy that.
We're on our way. Over.
[dispatcher] Okay, be careful.
Caller mentioned a knife. Over.

BLOOD SACRIFICE
[sighs]
[woman] I appreciate you
getting here so quickly.
I've seen a lot throughout the years,
but… [blows air] …this…
Rolander on the left.
Bengtsson here.
Gruesome injuries.
We believe it's ritualistic.
The way their bodies
were positioned in such…
In such strange positions.
And then…
-Of course, there's this…
-[zipper opening]
[zipper closing]
Thomas, I'm sorry.
I don't know
if you knew them personally, but…
They were still your colleagues.
[door opens]
[sighs]
Hey.
[door closes]
Can you believe this?
This is horrible.
[footsteps approaching]
[sighs deeply]
Yeah, I'm sure you feel the same way that
this investigation is a sensitive one.
I don't care what kind of psycho
this guy is,
I swear to you, we'll get him.
[somber music plays]
SATURDAY
[Thomas] Many of you knew Rolander.
-[music fades out]
-He served here a long time.
[takes a deep breath]
Helene Bengtsson moved here
from Gothenburg just over a year ago.
Left behind her dear wife,
and her dog…
[clears throat]
Sorry, guys, but, um…
I just feel sort of…
I don't know. Guilty. [swallows]
Whoever did this, did this to all of us.
The whole police force.
They cordoned off the house while
they're waiting for forensics results.
But…
-We're in this together. Okay?
-[colleagues] Mm.
All right.
[man sighs]
-[indistinct chatter]
-[camera clicking]
-[dark music plays]
-[camera clicking]
[technician] Rolander was attacked here.
Probably didn't see it coming.
No obvious defense wounds, so…
His firearm also showed
no signs of discharge.
And Bengtsson came in after that.
Stands here, sees Rolander on the floor.
And then gets attacked.
Standing behind the door? Right?
[technician] Yes, or maybe
just in the shadows.
It doesn't really get dark here
in late May.
Your colleague said
they got the 112 call at…
01:15.
[technician] Yeah,
that's about as dark as it gets.
-Good timing.
-[technician] Mm.
The only time there was
a lapse in his planning
was when he cut off their heads.
As you can see, it happened right here.
But there's no drip trail from the heads.
Which makes us think he immediately put
them into a bag or something similar.
Regardless, it appears as though
he took them with him from the scene.
The weapon?
[technician] The medical examiner
believes it was a serrated kitchen knife.
With a blade about
eleven or twelve centimeters long.
Oh, god.
[technician] Must've taken
a hell of a lot of effort.
We've secured part
of the suspect's shoe print as well.
A sneaker with a rubber sole.
So unless it's from the delivery boy
that found them,
it's likely from our guy.
-Who's the owner of this house?
-[woman] His name's Olof Claesson.
He's at a festival in Berlin.
He's at a festival in Berlin?
Well, now that's over for him.
Thank you.
[music builds]
[Thomas sighs]
That Söderhamn killing,
you know anything about it?
It was a few weeks ago.
They caught him, didn't they?
It was all over the news, right?
Some kind of security guard?
A real weirdo.
[music continues]
Sit still, you little devil. Huh?
[keypad beeps]
[indistinct background chatter]
-[knocking at door]
-[music fades out]
[Thomas] This is all they gave me
on the murder in Söderhamn.
I need to get your approval
to access the full investigation.
Thomas, you've got
a double murder to solve.
Also, Söderhamn already caught their guy.
-The prosecutor is ready to press charges.
-I know that.
You don't need to get yourself involved
in a case that's already closed.
Come on. The victim in Söderhamn
was an officer too.
I need your help to rule out any link.
Söderhamn got their guy.
They brought in a guy.
He was covered in the victim's blood.
I'm not saying they got it wrong.
But I just wanna review the investigation.
Look it over.
What's the harm in that?
This right here is one of the reasons that
working with you drives me up the wall.
Thank you, Rebecca.
It does not leave this room,
you hear me. Yeah?
[cellphone ringing]
Yeah?
[technician] We confirmed that
it's not the delivery boy's shoe print.
-And that's not even the best part…
-[door opens]
-[woman] Hi.
-Hey.
The shoe print was a size 43,
right foot, running shoe.
We've found three more prints
since that one.
We found a left footprint,
also from a runner.
But a different brand and style.
So we have two killers?
Or it's the same person.
-Wearing two different shoes?
-[woman] Yeah.
To make us believe
there were multiple perps.
-Who would ever buy that?
-Well, you just bought it.
Forensics also believes
it's, uh… the same person.
I can't shake the 112 call
that woman made.
If it's real… [clears throat]
…then she's our first victim, right?
It's been 18 hours
and there's still no trace of her.
It can't be fake. She sounds terrified.
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?
-[caller] Help me.
-You… you need to help me.
-[man] Can you hear me?
-What can we do to help?
-[caller]There's a man here.
I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
-He's got a knife!
-[man] A knife?
[caller] Help! He's gonna kill me!
[call ends]
[ominous music plays]
[music fades out]
[child shouting]
Hey, give me back my sweatshirt!
-[child] I know!
-[woman] Daddy's home. Hey!
-[Thomas] Hey, honey. How are you?
-I'm all right.
-[Thomas] Mm?
-But you look serious.
-A serious papa.
-A seriously hungry papa.
-Welcome home.
-[Thomas] Thanks.
-Hi, darling.
-You okay?
-Yeah, I'm good.
-Do you need anything, or…?
Nah. I just wanna have dinner.
-I'm starved!
-Mm.
Hey, so on a totally different note…
And probably the last thing
you wanna talk about.
But… your birthday.
-Mm.
-[woman] This Thursday.
I thought it'd be nice
to do something for it.
Maybe invite Alfred?
[Thomas] Yeah, it's…
I don't know if now
would be the right time.
Hm. Is it ever going to be the right time?
[somber music plays]
[dog barking]
MONDAY
[music fades out]
[woman] I'm not really made
for country living.
It was Helene who needed
to live near the water.
Apparently, it was worth
an hour and a half commute to her work.
[Thomas] Helene was our colleague.
Someone on my team knew her personally.
Said it was an honor to have known her.
Do you think that this
was a homophobic crime?
-[sniffles]
-[Thomas] No.
We have nothing indicating
that was the motive here.
Okay.
We need to have a look at… her laptop.
-Mm.
-Her phone. If she had a…
diary, we'll take a look at that.
Just to make sure we're not…
missing anything.
[woman sobs]
If either of you would like
to adopt a dog, let me know, okay?
My daughter would love that,
but, um, we live in a condo, so…
[man] Is it tough
to find the time to walk her?
It's tough that she was Helene's.
I can't even look at her.
-We're gonna solve this, all right?
-[woman sniffles]
We'll get the person who did it.
[man] This is… our top priority.
[somber music plays]
[Olof] I work in the music industry.
I travel a lot.
A few friends said
it was a good investment
if I were to buy a place out here.
Since I can rent it out when I go away.
You know,
to have a little, uh… extra income.
I was a bit misguided.
I closed on this place back in… in March.
But the only people who want to rent it,
want it for summer.
That's the only time I'm not traveling.
-So you weren't here on Friday, then?
-No.
Do you have a list of everybody
who's been staying here?
I don't track it.
-Hm.
-Or anyone who checked out the listing?
[Olof] Yeah, one family.
From Tokyo, of all places. [chuckles]
But that fell through.
They told me "There's not enough fjords."
I mean, what did they expect?
-[chuckles]
-[woman] He was an eccentric guy
but we're pretty sure
he's got nothing to do with this.
[man] We've got his phone and laptop.
He's given us permission
to scrub through everything.
[man 2] The 112 call was made
from the landline by the front door.
It was the only call that'd been made
from that phone for at least a month.
Maybe more than that.
I didn't know landlines
were still a thing.
No cell data, then.
No, but at least it proves
that someone was in the house.
This place is clean other than that.
Uh, fibers and fingerprints would likely
belong to the victims, the delivery guy…
Oh, and the owner, of course.
-And the shoe traces? Anything?
-Yeah, two different shoes.
Two of the most popular
brands in the country,
which makes it pretty hard to trace.
Are we gonna hand the call
over to the media?
[Thomas] No, we have a responsibility
to the woman who made it.
What about the responsibility
to take care of our own?
-What's that?
-This guy killed two of our colleagues.
-He decapitated two officers.
-[Thomas] I know.
-He could do it again.
-I get that.
I know it's not easy to hear,
but isn't that what
everyone's fucking thinking?
[man] She's got a point.
-The 112 call is our only lead so far.
-[cellphone chimes]
We're not releasing it.
[clears throat]
BJÖRKLUND:
THERE'S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO SEE
-[ominous music plays]
-I gotta run.
[reporter 1] At this morning's hearing
in Hälsingland's district court,
it was decided that the man suspected
of murdering police officer Marina Jonsson
will remain in custody pending charges.
In a statement made by the family,
Marina Jonsson's mother said
she's hoping the suspect will
spare the family additional pain,
and change his plea to guilty.
[overlapping voices on TV]
[man] I didn't do anything.
I'm completely innocent.
[Rebecca] That's the guy.
Viktor Falk. A security guard.
Previously suspected
of burglary and assault.
I just got a copy
of the medial examiner's report.
As you can see, there are two wounds
inflicted to the neck.
They told me the irregular morphology
indicates the weapon is believed to be
a small, serrated knife.
He cut the woman's neck in the same place
as Bengtsson and Rolander.
But that's not why I asked you to come in.
Listen to this.
"The police were made aware
on Friday of a trespassing."
"The call went out just
as Jonsson was about to end her shift."
"Although she was patrolling by herself,
she responded promptly
to the call from 112."
It was 01:15 when the call came through,
also on a Friday evening.
But I thought they caught the guy.
No.
You were right.
They brought in a guy.
[reporter] Officer, excuse me.
Do you have any details?
[reporters clamoring]
Look, both of you have to understand
what's happening here.
Söderhamn's ready to prosecute the man
in custody for murdering Marina Jonsson.
That means there's evidence.
What if you're wrong?
Another cop killer could walk free.
Yes, and that's exactly what
we wanted to talk about with you, Lucas.
They're too similar to ignore.
-What does your team have on this?
-[Thomas] Nothing. Yet.
But we need to inform them.
They're already on edge as it is.
What I'm most concerned about is,
from an investigative point of view,
this all seems to be random.
A call is made to 112,
police officers are dispatched.
When they arrive on the scene,
the caller's nowhere to be found,
and the murderer's waiting for them.
-How the fuck do we even navigate that?
-"How the fuck do we even navig…"
That's something you prefer not
to hear your lead detective say.
Seriously, Lucas, what do I do?
How do I move forward?
Tell my team about it?
And if I keep it from them,
do I set up another team?
Should the first team be aware
of the second one?
And do we tell Söderhamn?
And in that case, who's in charge
of the investigation? Us or them?
Us.
-Okay.
-[Lucas] You.
-Right.
-Good. [clears throat]
Here's what we'll do.
You'll include the murder
of Marina Jonsson in the investigation,
with your hypothesis that it's connected
to the murders of Rolander and Bengtsson.
But you can't tell anybody
outside this office
that someone out there
is killing our colleagues.
But I can't take this all on by myself.
You can get one detective to help you.
-One?
-Yes, until we know more.
I only get one person to help me
run a parallel murder investigation?
Up to you. One or none.
[radio reporter] Questions continue
to grow over lack of progress
investigating the so-called "112-murders."
[knocking]
The victims' families have,
in a joint statement,
said that they expect an update today
regarding the status of the investigation.
[woman on radio]
Helene gave her life to the police force.
She dedicated everything
she had to serving others.
David too.
So it's painful that they don't seem
to be giving this the gravity it deserves.
I want justice for my wife.

Thomas and I.

What about Tina?
-Tina will be there.

Bonnie would really like

to act maturely enough not to argue.
So she can see
everyone celebrating her dad.
I can pick you up for it.

It's not like you're turning 40,
for God's sake.
-You didn't show up to that one either.
-No, I had the flu that day.
-[keyboard clacking]
-Here's the 112 call from Värmdö.
I'm trying to get Söderhamn
to release the other call,
the one that Jonsson responded to.
[keyboard clacking]
[click]
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?
-[caller] Help me…
-You… you need to help me.
-[man] Can you hear me?
-What can we do to help?
-[caller] There's a man here.
I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
He's got a knife!
-[man] A knife?
-[caller] Help! He's gonna kill me!
[call ends]
[dark music plays]
We know for sure that's not the killer.
Not just 'cause she's a woman, either.
There's no way in hell
you can fake that kind of panic.
And so there's still no sign of her
since that call?
Do you think I should
release that tape to the media?
-Would you really care what I think?
-Depends what you say.
-Then I'd say you should hold off on that.
-Okay.
If I were you, I'd continue working
on the Söderhamn lead.
We should visit Marina Jonsson
and go talk to her next of kin as well.
It's our best course of action right now.
Take a look at that case.
See it with our own eyes, right?
[reporter] Friday marks one week since
the brutal murders of two police officers
in Värmdö in Stockholm.
The police have,
in a press release this morning,
called on the public for help.
[police] I'd like to ask anyone
who was in that area near Kräftstigen
to get in touch with us if they've seen
anything that seems suspicious.
Anything at all.
A person who wasn't normally seen
in that area, or anything.
-[dog barking]
-[children chattering]
[engine shuts off]
You sure it's the right move
talking to her?
[music fades out]
If Söderhamn police finds out
we're here, I'll never hear the end of it.
Well, don't look at me.
You know I can't do anything.
[sniffs]
I mean, I was fired
back in the day for using
inappropriate types of terms
with the ladies on the force.
I must've said, uh, "sweetheart"
a few too many times.
-I'd say the booze was an issue as well.
-Hey, don't believe everything you hear.
Why couldn't you have
just called her by her name?
I didn't know her damn name. I forgot it.
-Yep. [sighs]
-[Alfred] Hey, uh…
When you're in there,
ask if she's got a recording of Marina.
Something to compare
to what we have already.
Uh, a voicemail, or something like that.
[sarcastically] Okay. You know best.
[Thomas] Yeah, my fellow officers
were similarly affected
and, uh, I'm leading the investigation,
so I wanted to at least…
come here to introduce myself.
[woman] I heard about those officers.
That's so awful.
[Thomas] Uh, both of… both
of their families are in a lot of pain.
-It's tough, but I hope it gets better.
-[woman] I'm not sure how that's possible.
I went to talk to both of them.
Uh, well, I can't even imagine it.
But, um… Um…
-They tell me they feel…
-You don't know how they feel.
Her dad's inconsolable.
I loved Marina with all my heart.
Her father loved her even more.
-[melancholic music plays]
-I didn't know that till she was gone.
It's strange…
We both put up photos of Marina
in every room without even discussing it.
[cellphone buzzing]
I know, I saw that you…
-Yeah, it's very, um… It's lovely.
-We'll always have her here with us.
-[cellphone buzzing]
-You will.
Excuse me. I'm sorry, uh…
MESSAGES
DAD: ASK HER
DAD: THE VOICE
Excuse me.
[sighs deeply]
-[music fades out]
-[swallows]
Well, do you, um… have any videos of her?
Voicemails, you know, to listen to?
I have a… a daughter myself,
I'd probably, uh…
Want to see her again and hear her voice,
and, um, those things live on forever.
Well, the last message she left
was about our anniversary party.
-Mm.
-I've been listening to it to feel better.
Would you like to hear it?
[hesitates] Uh, um…
Not if it feels too personal.
-Or if you…
-[woman sighs warmly] No.
She just seems like…
[sighs] …like herself.
[cellphone pings]
[Marina] Hey, Mom.
Call me back when you hear this.
They've only got one table left.
I'm trying to get it for you guys.
[sighs] Can you help me?
I'm trying to get a place
for the after-party.
Yeah, I got guest lists from Dad.
I don't understand what he's thinking.
There's not enough space for everyone.
Please call me back. I love you.
So it's confirmed?
That's definitely her voice?
But it can't be her.
She died before the call was made.
Yeah, she died. But her voice is alive.
So the 112 call was actually him
playing a recording of Marina Jonsson
right as she was going to be killed.
Uh-huh. And two weeks later,
the killer calls 112.
He plays for them the voice recording
through the phone
in that guy's house on Värmdö.
-[sighs] She was never there.
-Right.
-She can't be traced.
-Right.
-She doesn't know anything either.
-Exactly.
Because she's dead now.
-Fuck! Fuck.
-[Alfred] What the hell?
[breathes deeply]
-Sorry.
-[Alfred scoffs]
I'm sorry.
[both sigh deeply]
-[Alfred chuckles]
-[chuckles]
[Alfred] I want you to take me
to the crime scene.
[Thomas] Okay.
[suspenseful music plays]
-[crickets chirping]
-[insects buzzing]
-[music fades out]
-I used to visit the scene after hours…
It's where it went down.
I'd come by myself.
When everyone else had left.
I'd visualize it all.
I'd walk through the sequence of events.
I'm sure you know what I mean.
[glass rattling]
Um. Hey, um…
After we're done tonight, it might
be better if I just finish this by myself.
I… I really appreciate your help, but…
If anyone finds out I brought you
into this whole thing, it would…
Yeah, I know,
it would hurt the entire investigation.
They would question everything.
I get it, I lived this. But, but…
-But you wanna keep going?
-[sighs]
-With you?
-Mm.
No, yeah, right, forget that.
Absolutely not.
I've got enough on my plate already,
believe me.
And after tomorrow, I wouldn't
have been able to help you anyway.
And tonight you've got the breakthrough
you were looking for, huh?
-Well, I think that's best.
-Exactly.
Now let's walk through everything,
one at a time.
We'll go through everything that happened.
-Mm hm.
-Then we'll call it a day.
And that'll be the ending
of our little partnership.
[Alfred] Okay?
Okay.
"Okay"?
Oh, well…
Let's go then.
[Alfred sighs deeply]
[dog barking in the distance]
[Thomas] Rolander enters…
is knocked to the floor… around here.
And is killed.
Then Bengtsson comes after,
checking to see why
Rolander isn't responding,
and is killed shortly after.
I don't know if I agree
with that timeline.
That Bengtsson was killed
right after Rolander.
A lot of time might have passed
between the first and the second murder.
-[Thomas] When we found them…
-[Alfred sighs]
…they were lying in strange positions.
-[dark music plays]
-They think it was some ritual.
-What's this?
-Hm?
That 112 call.
Do we know exactly when it was made?
On Friday night. 1:15 a.m.
And what about the other call?
The one before the murder
of Marina Jonsson.
Friday night. 1:15 a.m.
What's the time right now?
[breathing shakily]
[clock ticking loudly]
[indistinct chatter]
[phone ringing]
112. What's your emergency?
-[woman breathing shakily] No!
-Hello, can you hear me?
[panicked breathing] Help me! [crying]
No!
-He's going to cut off my head!
-[call ends]
[somber music plays]
[music fades out]
and fell on my grandson.
It sliced his leg,
I don't know what to do.
-[operator 1] 112. What's your emergency?
-[caller 2] She took some painkillers.
The bottle's open. I don't know how many.
[operator 2] And the cross road
is Queen St.?
[caller 3] Yeah, the guy got sideswiped.
[operator 3] I understand.
Did you see it when it happened?
[caller 3] His car slid into a power line.
It's pretty bad.
[operator 3] The car struck a power line?
Is anyone in the car?
[caller 3] Yeah, he's sitting in the car.
I think he's been drinking.
-[phone ringing]
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?
[woman] Help me.
-You… you need to help me.
-Can you hear me?
-What can we do to help?
-There's a man here.
I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
He's got a knife!
-A knife?
-Help! He's gonna kill me!
-[keyboard clacks]
-[call ends]
[ominous music plays]
[man] What the hell… ?
You okay?
-[breathes deeply]
-[clock ticking]
#50085 (PRIORITY 1)
KRÄFTSTIGEN 7, VÄRMDÖ
[music fades out]
[officer] Yeah, I know. It's not perfect,
but you should stick with it.
Keep watching. It's worth it, for sure.
After the second episode
the show gets way, way better.
Nah, it's too late for that.
She already finished the whole thing.
[officer] Didn't you say
you were watching it together?
[chuckles lightly] No, I said that
we started watching together.
Then I went to bed.
And when I woke up,
she'd binged the entire season.
-[officer chuckles]
-[radio beeps]
[dispatcher] Assault in progress, 4-7.
Calling all units to Värmdö.
-Calling all units.
-[radio beeps]
35-20. We're on patrol in Värmdö. Over.
[dispatcher] 35-20, there's an ongoing
assault on Kräftstigen 7.
An assault at Kräftstigen 7. Over.
[officer 2] Copy that.
We're on our way. Over.
[dispatcher] Okay, be careful.
Caller mentioned a knife. Over.
[car approaching]
[engine shuts off]
Upstairs lights are on.
[officer 2] I'll check around the back.
-[officer 1] Don't do anything stupid.
-[cocks gun]
[door creaks]
[thumping from upstairs]
[suspenseful music plays]
[music builds]
[music stops abruptly]
-Rolander?
-[radio beeps]
-Rolander, what's happening? You copy me?
-[beep]
-[radio cracking]
-[Rolander] Help… Help me…
[music continues, builds]
-[music fades out]
-[radio static]
BLOOD SACRIFICE
[sighs]
[woman] I appreciate you
getting here so quickly.
I've seen a lot throughout the years,
but… [blows air] …this…
Rolander on the left.
Bengtsson here.
Gruesome injuries.
We believe it's ritualistic.
The way their bodies
were positioned in such…
In such strange positions.
And then…
-Of course, there's this…
-[zipper opening]
[zipper closing]
Thomas, I'm sorry.
I don't know
if you knew them personally, but…
They were still your colleagues.
[door opens]
[sighs]
Hey.
[door closes]
Can you believe this?
This is horrible.
[footsteps approaching]
[sighs deeply]
Yeah, I'm sure you feel the same way that
this investigation is a sensitive one.
I don't care what kind of psycho
this guy is,
I swear to you, we'll get him.
[somber music plays]
SATURDAY
[Thomas] Many of you knew Rolander.
-[music fades out]
-He served here a long time.
[takes a deep breath]
Helene Bengtsson moved here
from Gothenburg just over a year ago.
Left behind her dear wife,
and her dog…
[clears throat]
Sorry, guys, but, um…
I just feel sort of…
I don't know. Guilty. [swallows]
Whoever did this, did this to all of us.
The whole police force.
They cordoned off the house while
they're waiting for forensics results.
But…
-We're in this together. Okay?
-[colleagues] Mm.
All right.
[man sighs]
-[indistinct chatter]
-[camera clicking]
-[dark music plays]
-[camera clicking]
[technician] Rolander was attacked here.
Probably didn't see it coming.
No obvious defense wounds, so…
His firearm also showed
no signs of discharge.
And Bengtsson came in after that.
Stands here, sees Rolander on the floor.
And then gets attacked.
Standing behind the door? Right?
[technician] Yes, or maybe
just in the shadows.
It doesn't really get dark here
in late May.
Your colleague said
they got the 112 call at…
01:15.
[technician] Yeah,
that's about as dark as it gets.
-Good timing.
-[technician] Mm.
The only time there was
a lapse in his planning
was when he cut off their heads.
As you can see, it happened right here.
But there's no drip trail from the heads.
Which makes us think he immediately put
them into a bag or something similar.
Regardless, it appears as though
he took them with him from the scene.
The weapon?
[technician] The medical examiner
believes it was a serrated kitchen knife.
With a blade about
eleven or twelve centimeters long.
Oh, god.
[technician] Must've taken
a hell of a lot of effort.
We've secured part
of the suspect's shoe print as well.
A sneaker with a rubber sole.
So unless it's from the delivery boy
that found them,
it's likely from our guy.
-Who's the owner of this house?
-[woman] His name's Olof Claesson.
He's at a festival in Berlin.
He's at a festival in Berlin?
Well, now that's over for him.
Thank you.
[music builds]
[Thomas sighs]
That Söderhamn killing,
you know anything about it?
It was a few weeks ago.
They caught him, didn't they?
It was all over the news, right?
Some kind of security guard?
A real weirdo.
[music continues]
Sit still, you little devil. Huh?
[keypad beeps]
[indistinct background chatter]
-[knocking at door]
-[music fades out]
[Thomas] This is all they gave me
on the murder in Söderhamn.
I need to get your approval
to access the full investigation.
Thomas, you've got
a double murder to solve.
Also, Söderhamn already caught their guy.
-The prosecutor is ready to press charges.
-I know that.
You don't need to get yourself involved
in a case that's already closed.
Come on. The victim in Söderhamn
was an officer too.
I need your help to rule out any link.
Söderhamn got their guy.
They brought in a guy.
He was covered in the victim's blood.
I'm not saying they got it wrong.
But I just wanna review the investigation.
Look it over.
What's the harm in that?
This right here is one of the reasons that
working with you drives me up the wall.
Thank you, Rebecca.
It does not leave this room,
you hear me. Yeah?
[cellphone ringing]
Yeah?
[technician] We confirmed that
it's not the delivery boy's shoe print.
-And that's not even the best part…
-[door opens]
-[woman] Hi.
-Hey.
The shoe print was a size 43,
right foot, running shoe.
We've found three more prints
since that one.
We found a left footprint,
also from a runner.
But a different brand and style.
So we have two killers?
Or it's the same person.
-Wearing two different shoes?
-[woman] Yeah.
To make us believe
there were multiple perps.
-Who would ever buy that?
-Well, you just bought it.
Forensics also believes
it's, uh… the same person.
I can't shake the 112 call
that woman made.
If it's real… [clears throat]
…then she's our first victim, right?
It's been 18 hours
and there's still no trace of her.
It can't be fake. She sounds terrified.
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?
-[caller] Help me.
-You… you need to help me.
-[man] Can you hear me?
-What can we do to help?
-[caller]There's a man here.
I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
-He's got a knife!
-[man] A knife?
[caller] Help! He's gonna kill me!
[call ends]
[ominous music plays]
[music fades out]
[child shouting]
Hey, give me back my sweatshirt!
-[child] I know!
-[woman] Daddy's home. Hey!
-[Thomas] Hey, honey. How are you?
-I'm all right.
-[Thomas] Mm?
-But you look serious.
-A serious papa.
-A seriously hungry papa.
-Welcome home.
-[Thomas] Thanks.
-Hi, darling.
-You okay?
-Yeah, I'm good.
-Do you need anything, or…?
Nah. I just wanna have dinner.
-I'm starved!
-Mm.
Hey, so on a totally different note…
And probably the last thing
you wanna talk about.
But… your birthday.
-Mm.
-[woman] This Thursday.
I thought it'd be nice
to do something for it.
Maybe invite Alfred?
[Thomas] Yeah, it's…
I don't know if now
would be the right time.
Hm. Is it ever going to be the right time?
[somber music plays]
[dog barking]
MONDAY
[music fades out]
[woman] I'm not really made
for country living.
It was Helene who needed
to live near the water.
Apparently, it was worth
an hour and a half commute to her work.
[Thomas] Helene was our colleague.
Someone on my team knew her personally.
Said it was an honor to have known her.
Do you think that this
was a homophobic crime?
-[sniffles]
-[Thomas] No.
We have nothing indicating
that was the motive here.
Okay.
We need to have a look at… her laptop.
-Mm.
-Her phone. If she had a…
diary, we'll take a look at that.
Just to make sure we're not…
missing anything.
[woman sobs]
If either of you would like
to adopt a dog, let me know, okay?
My daughter would love that,
but, um, we live in a condo, so…
[man] Is it tough
to find the time to walk her?
It's tough that she was Helene's.
I can't even look at her.
-We're gonna solve this, all right?
-[woman sniffles]
We'll get the person who did it.
[man] This is… our top priority.
[somber music plays]
[Olof] I work in the music industry.
I travel a lot.
A few friends said
it was a good investment
if I were to buy a place out here.
Since I can rent it out when I go away.
You know,
to have a little, uh… extra income.
I was a bit misguided.
I closed on this place back in… in March.
But the only people who want to rent it,
want it for summer.
That's the only time I'm not traveling.
-So you weren't here on Friday, then?
-No.
Do you have a list of everybody
who's been staying here?
I don't track it.
-Hm.
-Or anyone who checked out the listing?
[Olof] Yeah, one family.
From Tokyo, of all places. [chuckles]
But that fell through.
They told me "There's not enough fjords."
I mean, what did they expect?
-[chuckles]
-[woman] He was an eccentric guy
but we're pretty sure
he's got nothing to do with this.
[man] We've got his phone and laptop.
He's given us permission
to scrub through everything.
[man 2] The 112 call was made
from the landline by the front door.
It was the only call that'd been made
from that phone for at least a month.
Maybe more than that.
I didn't know landlines
were still a thing.
No cell data, then.
No, but at least it proves
that someone was in the house.
This place is clean other than that.
Uh, fibers and fingerprints would likely
belong to the victims, the delivery guy…
Oh, and the owner, of course.
-And the shoe traces? Anything?
-Yeah, two different shoes.
Two of the most popular
brands in the country,
which makes it pretty hard to trace.
Are we gonna hand the call
over to the media?
[Thomas] No, we have a responsibility
to the woman who made it.
What about the responsibility
to take care of our own?
-What's that?
-This guy killed two of our colleagues.
-He decapitated two officers.
-[Thomas] I know.
-He could do it again.
-I get that.
I know it's not easy to hear,
but isn't that what
everyone's fucking thinking?
[man] She's got a point.
-The 112 call is our only lead so far.
-[cellphone chimes]
We're not releasing it.
[clears throat]
BJÖRKLUND:
THERE'S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO SEE
-[ominous music plays]
-I gotta run.
[reporter 1] At this morning's hearing
in Hälsingland's district court,
it was decided that the man suspected
of murdering police officer Marina Jonsson
will remain in custody pending charges.
In a statement made by the family,
Marina Jonsson's mother said
she's hoping the suspect will
spare the family additional pain,
and change his plea to guilty.
[overlapping voices on TV]
[man] I didn't do anything.
I'm completely innocent.
[Rebecca] That's the guy.
Viktor Falk. A security guard.
Previously suspected
of burglary and assault.
I just got a copy
of the medial examiner's report.
As you can see, there are two wounds
inflicted to the neck.
They told me the irregular morphology
indicates the weapon is believed to be
a small, serrated knife.
He cut the woman's neck in the same place
as Bengtsson and Rolander.
But that's not why I asked you to come in.
Listen to this.
"The police were made aware
on Friday of a trespassing."
"The call went out just
as Jonsson was about to end her shift."
"Although she was patrolling by herself,
she responded promptly
to the call from 112."
It was 01:15 when the call came through,
also on a Friday evening.
But I thought they caught the guy.
No.
You were right.
They brought in a guy.
[reporter] Officer, excuse me.
Do you have any details?
[reporters clamoring]
Look, both of you have to understand
what's happening here.
Söderhamn's ready to prosecute the man
in custody for murdering Marina Jonsson.
That means there's evidence.
What if you're wrong?
Another cop killer could walk free.
Yes, and that's exactly what
we wanted to talk about with you, Lucas.
They're too similar to ignore.
-What does your team have on this?
-[Thomas] Nothing. Yet.
But we need to inform them.
They're already on edge as it is.
What I'm most concerned about is,
from an investigative point of view,
this all seems to be random.
A call is made to 112,
police officers are dispatched.
When they arrive on the scene,
the caller's nowhere to be found,
and the murderer's waiting for them.
-How the fuck do we even navigate that?
-"How the fuck do we even navig…"
That's something you prefer not
to hear your lead detective say.
Seriously, Lucas, what do I do?
How do I move forward?
Tell my team about it?
And if I keep it from them,
do I set up another team?
Should the first team be aware
of the second one?
And do we tell Söderhamn?
And in that case, who's in charge
of the investigation? Us or them?
Us.
-Okay.
-[Lucas] You.
-Right.
-Good. [clears throat]
Here's what we'll do.
You'll include the murder
of Marina Jonsson in the investigation,
with your hypothesis that it's connected
to the murders of Rolander and Bengtsson.
But you can't tell anybody
outside this office
that someone out there
is killing our colleagues.
But I can't take this all on by myself.
You can get one detective to help you.
-One?
-Yes, until we know more.
I only get one person to help me
run a parallel murder investigation?
Up to you. One or none.
[radio reporter] Questions continue
to grow over lack of progress
investigating the so-called "112-murders."
[knocking]
The victims' families have,
in a joint statement,
said that they expect an update today
regarding the status of the investigation.
[woman on radio]
Helene gave her life to the police force.
She dedicated everything
she had to serving others.
David too.
So it's painful that they don't seem
to be giving this the gravity it deserves.
I want justice for my wife.
[doorbell rings]
[ominous music plays]
-[woman] Alfred!
-[doorbell rings]
-[clattering]
-[thud]
[radio continues]
[woman] Alfred?
-It's Charlotte!
-[music fades out]
-[knocking]
-[radio continues]
[relieved sigh]
[Charlotte] Hey.
Don't take it personal, Charlotte.
If I knew it was you out here,
I would've opened sooner.
How did you not know who it was?
I was literally just screaming my name.
Alfred, I came to remind you
that Thomas's birthday's on Thursday.
We're gonna have a small party
and we'd love it if you came.
"We"?
Thomas and I.
He said that?
Yep.
And Bonnie's asking about her grandfather.
What about Tina?
-Tina will be there.
-[groans]
Bonnie would really like
to see her grandmother as well.
And we're convinced that everyone is able
to act maturely enough not to argue.
So she can see
everyone celebrating her dad.
I can pick you up for it.
I'm 70 years old, Charlotte, not 170.
I just said I'd be there.
Amazing.
Is fish all right?
No new allergies I should be aware of?
-Nothing food related, at least.
-See you Thursday, then.
Later.

-[cellphone ringing]
-[music stops abruptly]
It's me. He left his phone on his desk.
Can't believe you're
still over there working.
Yeah, I'm looking into knife attacks
in Stockholm over the past five years.
And cross-referencing them with our case.
-Do you need help with something?
-Yeah, where's Max at?
He's playing football, I think.
He was talking about shin pads earlier.
