Our friendship definitely
had bumps in the road.
Big time bumps.
Remember our first time seeing each other
after Battle of the Bands?
We had no idea what to expect.
We had just become friends.
I was so nervous.
I wanted the first thing
I said to be memorable and extraordinary.

I felt the pressure too.
Opening up to friends was new to me.
Opening up at all
was new to me.
So, I wanted to respond in a way
that was friendly but not too friendly,
confident,
but also sophisticated.

I also had feelings!
These guys were my first
real friends, like, ever.
And I didn't want
to mess it up, so I kept it super casual.

So after hanging out with each other
and doing each other's things,
one thing was clear.
We were very different people.
It was a little concerning
in a way that felt concerning.
So, the next day,
we did what any mature teenagers would do
when they have issues
with each other. We talked about it,
to other people.
[sighs deeply]
[sighs loudly]

Sure, it was the week
before this one.

it started off terribly
after I got dumped
by my best friend.
Then a great thing happened
when I teamed up with Jade and Tulip

I connected with Posey and Tulip
in a way I never had with anyone.
-Sounds pretty special.

But, ever since then,
it's like we're--

Posey's busy, Jade has a lair,
and I'm into porcelain replicas
of children.
I like dolls. Anyway.
I'm new to this
whole friend thing.

I have a ton of friends.

The truth is,
I'm freaking out because
[all] I really want
this friendship to work.
Well, when my husband and I
want to reconnect,
we do something we both love.
Last month, we booked a fishing trip

I know, and I loved it,
but we never talked about actually
being a band, like, "officially."

[screams] I was hoping

but it was for a good reason.

so I used nail polish.
Then I spilled some on my shoe
and I was, like,
"Whoo, girl, that's pretty!"
So I splattered the whole bottle
on my shoes, and now it's shoe art.
Ooh, that's fun!

I made jam sandwiches
because I knew we'd be jamming. [chuckles]
I was gonna make
peanut butter, but that's ridiculous.

We came here because
we were worried about you.
Are you okay?
Not really. I can't believe you said
this friendship wasn't gonna work.

I know we've only been friends
for a short time,
but it's been
a really great short time.
And I don't want
to lose you guys.

We weren't getting along
and it scared me,
so I panicked
and started talking.

But I couldn't stop talking just like now.

losing you guys either.
But you're the first people I've ever
felt comfortable being the real me around.
Then what's the problem? It seems like
we all want this friendship to work.

have to be a bad thing?
I like hanging out with people
who are different from me.

After our friendship
love-fest,
our creative juices
started flowing.
So we ran back
to Tulip's house and wrote a killer song.
And the next day,
we're ready to head out for our first gig.
We were just missing
one thing.
Wait! Our band name!
We can't go to our first gig
ever without a band name.
Good point.
Okay. Okay.
Uh, what if we do something
with our names?
Jade, Posey, Tulip.
