Blood Sacrifice (2026) s01e03 Episode Script

Episode 3

-[tense music plays]
-[clock ticking]
[Lucas] I know you're all tired,
but I also know that you want
to find and arrest this murderer.
-[ticking continues]
-[indistinct background chatter]
[Lucas] It's clear you're
dedicated to the cause,
that you're ready to defend your honor.
[music builds]
[music fades out]
[overlapping emergency call conversations]
[operator] Is there an adult in the house?
Okay, okay.
Call for your mother.
We have a team on the way.
[exhales]
[dark music plays]
-[Lucas] He's still out there…
-[dial tone]
[Lucas] …and there's
a rude awakening waiting for him.
-Thomas.
-John, what's going on?
[John] Nothing. He didn't call.
We didn't get anything.
[Lucas] Police men and women
stand ready to chase him down.
Nothing.
[Lucas] Whatever happens tonight,
we're going to find him.
Now, let's hit the streets
and do our job.
-[officer] Yeah!
-[officer 2] Yeah!
[music fades out]
He's one of our own.
It's disgusting.
[indistinct background chatter]
Viktor Falk met a police officer
at the scene in Söderhamn.
The investigation dismissed it.
Yeah, nobody wants to hear that
when they've already decided
that Falk is guilty.
Exactly.
-And in Farsta, eight officers go in…
-[Natalie] …and nine come out.
I know. It's just hard to swallow.
[ominous music plays]
[Alfred sighs deeply]
We have to keep this from them.
-[Natalie] What about Chief Lind?
-[Alfred] Especially Chief Lind.
He wouldn't believe us anyway.
And it's not like
we have any way to prove it.
[Alfred] We need somewhere we can go.
Just the three of us,
where we can, uh… work by ourselves.
[Thomas] Mm.
[Alfred] This is the team.
It's on us to solve this.
BLOOD SACRIFICE
[somber music plays]
[Charlotte] The microwave's broken,
the heater's a bit finicky.
But no one'll bother you here.
You have the room for a week,
before summer semester starts.
If anything goes down,
I'll deny I was involved.
-[chuckles] Understood. Thanks.
-See ya.
-[Natalie] Bye.
-[Alfred] See you. Thanks.
[tense music plays]
[Natalie] Okay,
thanks for letting me know.
It's confirmed.
There wasn't a 112 call from the murderer.
He was too busy out there
looking for himself.
So of course there was no call.
I think that could be it.
He murders only when he's off duty.
When he's on duty,
he's got too many eyeballs on him.
So if we're able to find out
who patrolled the night of the murders,
and compare from who was there last night,
then we have a list
of who could be our suspects.
You can admit to me
that you're a little impressed.
[chuckles]
Yeah, this is a mountain of work.
Can we pull this off
with just three of us?
[woman] What about
inviting them over for dinner again?
God, you know that was over a year ago.
-[chuckles lightly] It was a good night.
-Yeah, of course, you're right.
-Well then, invite them over.
-[Max] It's just that…
MONDAY
[Max] It's this case…
For some reason, Thomas decided
to make me sit this one out.
It's bugging me. I have to fix that first.
-Uh, see you tonight.
-[woman] Mm.
[Max] Mm.
-Don't you have football practice tonight?
-Not sure, dear.
Are you serious?
You're carrying your gym bag.
Well, I guess the answer's "yes" then.
[woman scoffs]
We can't rule out the possibility
that the killer has a vendetta
and they're after a specific target.
They're looking for someone.
So our priority now is to make a list.
Get me a list of all the police officers
on duty the night of the murders, okay?
We've received temporary access
to the staff database.
-Wha…
-What do you mean by "a specific target"?
[Thomas] Since he's acted
at the same time every day,
the shift changes could be a lead
that we can follow up on.
Does he want a certain officer
to come respond
and have the guy get dispatched to him?
-And what's the motive?
-[Max] Doesn't that sound far-fetched?
We could pursue a lot of different routes
with this case right now.
[Natalie] Like what?
Follow up on forensic evidence,
review other incidents
surrounding calls to 112.
I'm just saying… this is really
what we should spend our time on?
[Thomas] Yes, it is.
-Honestly, Thomas, it's a really big job.
-Absolutely.
And I'd really like you
to be in charge of it.
As quickly as you can,
put together that list of officers.
We only have till Friday. Okay?
-[Max] Mm.
-[Thomas] All right.
Sure.
[Thomas] Tonight was a win.
We broke the pattern.
-But nothing has changed yet.
-What do you mean?
[Britta] Well, it's been two weeks
and you still haven't made an arrest.
Our officers are afraid to work.
-Sick leave requests are skyrocketing.
-Mm hm.
I'd appreciate it
if you took their trauma more seriously.
We value the mental health
of our officers.
It's something we give
a lot of attention to nowadays.
I mean that you need to address it.
There's a whole police force
in need of crisis therapy.
-Yeah, but you don't mean now?
-[Britta] Course I mean now.
Someone out there
is killing police officers.
Yeah. Um… exactly.
So let us catch him first,
then have therapy sessions.
Thomas, it's not the '90s anymore.
Our priority is
the officers' mental health.
No, the priority is
to keep everyone alive.
Britta, we need our officers
out on patrol working.
They're right. We have
a dangerous ongoing investigation
so we have to keep everyone on patrol.
Well, if sick leave keeps
going at the current rate,
you won't have any active police officers.
[sharp intake of breath]
Come on, just try to see this
from our perspective.
The victims are our fellow officers.
We have to catch this animal.
The whole team wants to book him.
All we need is a little more time.
[door opens]
-[Lucas] Hey there, Thomas.
-[Thomas] Mm?
About your father…
I saw him in the fitness center.
-Oh?
-You know better than most
that there were very good reasons
that he's no longer serving on the force.
There's no coming back
from planting evidence.
And it would be a real shame
if his ego stands in the way
of these people and…
their need to be vindicated.
-Do you get what I'm saying?
-Absolutely.
[tense music plays]
[door opens]
-[door closes]
-[music fades out]
[Natalie] Thanks for getting back to me.
I want the recordings of any phone calls
that came in to Söderhamn
around 01:15 that Friday night.
Check your e-mail. I already
sent you the approval for the request.
[man] Okay, sure. Do you want
calls from later Fridays too?
Starting with, maybe, Friday after that?
There weren't any calls
on the Friday after that, so…
I guess… you can skip that.
[ominous music plays]
Actually, send me that Friday too.
-[Thomas] What's this?
-Plug it in and listen.
[music fades out]
-[man] 112. What's your emergency?
-[woman] Help me.
-You… you need to help me.
-[man] Can you hear me?
-What can we do to help?
-[woman] There's a man here.
I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
-He's got a knife!
-A knife?
[woman] Help! He's gonna kill me! You--
[call cuts off]
Marina Jonsson's 112 call.
-We've listened to it before. What's new?
-[Natalie] Hold on, now listen to this.
-[man 2] 112. What's your emergency?
-[woman] Help me.
-[man 2] What's happening?
-You… You need to help me.
-[man 2] Hello?
-[woman whimpering]
-There's a man here.
-Can you slow down?
[woman] I need you to help me!
[breathing shakily, sobbing]
[man 2] Hello?
-[woman] He's got a knife!
-[man 2] Are you there?
[woman] Help! He's gonna kill me! You--
That's a different 112 operator.
[Natalie] Exactly.
It's Marina Jonsson's voice.
It's from a different emergency call.
We've been so focused
on the murders we already know of.
Jonsson on the 17th.
Bengtsson and Rolander on the 31st.
Hamrin and Schelin after that.
Yeah, something in
the pattern's not right.
We're missing a murder.
Or… We're not missing a murder, he is.
-There was nothing on the 24th.
-[Natalie] Exactly.
Are you saying that he tried to use
Marina Jonsson's voice a week earlier?
The week before he used the same recording
to attract Bengtsson and Rolander?
[Natalie] It hit me
when I called Söderhamn.
Then I found this tape
on Stockholm's servers.
I guess he got scared.
-[Alfred] Yeah.
-[Natalie] There was no murder on 24th.
Yeah, that's a pretty good theory.
Huh.
We have to find out what happened
after he made the call to 112 on the 24th.
Which officers came
to respond to the call,
what happened when they got there…
The unit that was sent there
could've seen the killer.
[Natalie] Yes.
Well done.
Hey, look. It's okay, Thomas.
You're allowed to say
you're a little impressed.
All right?
[siren wailing]
[siren blares]
[background TV chatter]
-[Thomas] Morning, sweetie.
-[Charlotte] Oh, wow, there's pancakes.
WEDNESDAY
[TV reporter] Over the course of an hour,
a number of crimes were committed
and not a single officer
responded to the scene.
How can that be?
We apologize, our response time on Friday
was somewhat longer than normal,
but weekends are
when we receive the most calls.
[reporter] So there's
no validity to the rumors
about how many police officers
are hesitant to go to work?
You're a journalist. While I apprec…
A lot can be said about your dad,
but he's spot-on when it comes to him.
That guy's intolerable.
At least he stopped the union
from this push to get all uniformed
police officers in trauma therapy.
What's wrong with therapy?
-[Thomas] What?
-Thomas, it's my job.
Nothing wrong with therapy,
but it's just the timing of it all.
Hm. You realize it'd land on my desk?
We get all the trauma referrals
from the police.
-At the university?
-Mm hm.
On the second floor,
right above your little hideout.
[Thomas] Hm.
You could even try out
a group therapy session.
-With Lind?
-[chuckles] No, you and Alfred.
It could take a few months
but it'd be worth it.
-How is it? Yummy, right?
-Mm.
-[Charlotte] Mm?
-I love pancakes.
[cellphone buzzes]
Speak of the devil.
[door opens]
-[door closes]
-[Thomas] Hi.
[Alfred] Hi.
Here I am, reporting for duty.
[Thomas] You know you have
a broken taillight?
It's against the law to drive like that.
Be grateful there isn't a law
preventing you from being a wet rag.
-[Thomas chuckles]
-Hey, listen, um…
He made the phone call from
a landline number that can be traced to…
Beckholmens Boat Club. [clears throat]
How the hell did you find that out?
I still have a few good friends
who work in the force.
The cops who responded
to the call want to talk,
but they want to get together at 08:30
and finish before their shift.
Great… But you can't come with me.
[Alfred] Why not?
You're not an official part
of the investigation. You know that.
My contact already let them know
we'd be going together.
Hey, if we're gonna get there late,
we won't be able to talk to them
till after the shift.
Just tell me their names,
I'll take care of it.
I can talk to them.
We can call it off.
It's up to you, but I wouldn't.
-You're being serious?
-Yeah.
You…
Okay, fine… But I'll do the talking.
All right.
[suspenseful music plays]
[man on radio] …I had a little trouble
getting out of bed this morning.
[radio chatter continues indistinctly]
[radio chatter fades out]
[indistinct chatter]
[Thomas] Okay, tell me.
[officer] It sounded pretty serious
over the radio.
They got a call about somebody
who was waving a knife around.
The area was full of students who had, uh…
just come back from taking a boat out.
Mm hm.
By the time we showed up,
there were two guys on site.
[officer] When we saw the other officers,
we left pretty quickly.
-Okay, so what did the officers say?
-[officer 2] That it was a false alarm.
The one I talked to told me
his partner spoke with a drunk woman
who called in the emergency.
And there wasn't
a situation involving a knife,
but just a couple who got shitfaced.
They were fighting with each other
and the gal ended up calling 112.
[Alfred] What about the other officer?
-What did he say?
-I never spoke with him.
The officer that I did speak with told me
that his partner
took care of the questioning.
-So you never spoke to him?
-No.
[Alfred] But you saw his partner?
-No.
-We didn't.
So neither of you confirmed
if he was telling the truth…
[chuckles]
…that another officer was there?
[sarcastically] Great.
Okay, the one you spoke to…
-You never saw him before?
-No.
-You'd have remembered seeing him, right?
-Mm hm.
Describe him.
Why… Why would I… have to do that?
Because I just asked you to.
[officer 2] Uh…
-Tall, average height…
-Like how tall?
Well, uh, like 6 feet. Um…
[officer 2] A little bit of gray.
Some facial hair.
-[Alfred quietly] Hm.
-[officer 2] Dark eyes.
The rumors are true about the murders?
It's an officer that you're after?
[officer 2] That's what I heard. A lot
of guys on night shift are saying that.
[Thomas] Who's saying that?
-[officer 2] They said…
-Okay, stop. Listen to me, dumbasses.
Okay now, first of all…
Neither of you looked into
the emergency you encountered
when you arrived on the scene.
And secondly,
the description that you gave
of the officer you talked to
matches half the force.
But it was…
And if we did suspect police officers,
you could bet your ass
that we'd arrest the two of you.
Right here and now.
-[woman] Here you go.
-Great.
Now that we've got the 31st,
how's the 7th going?
Uh, Martin's working on it.
-Amazing. I'll e-mail Thomas.
-[woman] Mm.
[Max] Tell him that he should expect
the combined list by this evening.
He asked us to CC Natalie as well.
He was clear on that,
so make sure to add her.
[sighs]
-[keyboard clacking]
-[indistinct background chatter]
[Max] Hm.
[man in background] Yeah,
I mean, that's why I'm calling…
-Thanks, Max.
-[Max] Mm hm.
[ping]
[man] Did you take a look
at the information?
I sent it over to your office. Uh…
-[man continues indistinctly]
-[Max sighs]
[suspenseful music plays]
2 HOURS 46 MIN
244 KM
[grunts]
-[keys jingle]
-[electric lock buzzes]
This is Maria Janeklint.
Maria's helping us draw a sketch
of the police officer
you said was there at the crime scene.
Uh-huh. Why should I
help you two out at all?
'Cause since the last time you visited,
nothing's really changed, has it?
If it's true that
you asked an officer for help,
it'll be essential to your defense that
we find the officer you brought up to me.
But we can skip it if you want to.
Up to you.
[clears throat] Yeah, all right.
[Maria] Okay.
Let's start with his general features.
How would you describe this man
in the simplest way possible?
Uh… He looked, um…
Uh… The only word
that comes to my mind is, um…
Uh… Empty. He looked empty.
He was empty, like…?
Yeah, it's…
He was just sort of, um… a hollow shell.
-I’m not sure how else to describe it.
-Give it another shot, Viktor.
If we were to search for police officers
that resemble a hollow shell,
half the force would be a match for it.
[dark music plays]
That's not much to go on.
Assuming he does exist
outside Falk's imagination.
Do you recognize him?
-No?
-[music fades out]
Well, he looks like every other officer
fresh out of the academy
who patrols the streets.
Like the type who'd rather be
in an alley fighting junkies
instead of going home to his wife.
-Speaking from experience?
-[scoffs]
Here are the names I got from Max.
745 officers. 520 of them are men.
Okay, that's great.
Out of those men, 92 were off duty
when the murders occurred.
Add in the 24th of May,
that number decreases a bit, but not much.
-Well, it's "Guess Who" time, then.
-What do you mean?
We'll play "Guess Who",
but with real people.
[Natalie] The board game.
You work your way
to the right person through elimination.
You never played it?
-When would we have done that?
-When Thomas was little.
No, my father didn't pick up
playing with toys until recently.
Yeah, yeah, yeah…
Model railroading.
Spending a lot of time and money.
Okay, let's quit fooling around, Thomas.
We'll do whatever it is that Natalie said.
We've got to catch this bastard.
[ominous music plays]
We've narrowed it down to what?
54 suspects?
-All based on weak evidence.
-That's not even our biggest problem.
In a normal investigation,
if you had a list with 50 suspects on it,
you would do a stake out
and then interrogate them.
But how is it possible
to get a bead on 50 police officers
-without causing suspicion?
-It's not.
We tried to get close to two
and you saw how that went.
[Thomas] Mm.
Now that rumor's spreading,
this thing might turn into a mess
for the whole goddamn police authority.
-What are you doing?
-[Thomas] What's it look like?
[music fades out]
Hey, wait a second.
What?
How come you brought up
the stuff with the trains?
We were talking about games for kids.
Trying to impress your partner,
isn't that right?
-Natalie? No.
-Yeah, sure. [chuckles]
You… You're making fun of me
in front of her.
-Yeah, maybe, but you do play with trains.
-It's model railroading.
Call it what you want
if it makes you feel better.
Why do you say I didn't…
I didn't play with you
when you were a little kid?
Well, you didn't, Dad.
But, hey, this isn't about us.
And things are going well for once.
And this won't help us catch him. Okay?
-Okay?
-Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[sighs deeply]
-[can hisses]
-What are you doing?
[indistinct background chatter]
-[server] Hey.
-[Thomas] Hey.
Oh, hey.
[Alfred sighs]
Our first option… Call them all in.
Get all 50 potential suspects
in for duty on Friday.
We can keep an eye on 'em.
That could buy one more week for us,
if we're lucky.
Hm.
What are you thinking about?
-Nothing.
-Come on, for God's sake. We're partners.
We can't withhold information.
What are you thinking?
The union told me to offer therapy
to all uniformed personnel.
-[Alfred] Therapy for what?
-Trauma.
What do you mean, trauma?
It's part of our job.
-I told them it's not a good time for it.
-You're right about that.
Because we only have two days till Friday.
Mm.
[sighs]
[sighs]
Just a second.
Let's think this through together.
You aren't saying that we get 54 suspects
in to talk about their feelings…
I'm not saying that.
[dark music plays]
Yeah, but I know
where you're going with this.
You're thinking that…
If we can find a way
to listen in on the therapy,
then it's almost like
we can slyly gather information…
from the suspects.
It's completely unethical, but, um…
[Alfred] No… I don't know about that.
I think it's a very interesting
philosophical question.
Now that you've had this new idea…
Then, would you be…
more unethical if you were to attempt it?
Or are you more unethical knowing…
and deciding not…
to attempt it?
[music fades out]
[indistinct background TV chatter]
I have every color of Play-Doh
stuck under my nails.
-[chuckles] Yeah?
-[chuckles]
I saw you made trains.
-[Charlotte] Aren't they nice?
-Yeah, very nice.
[Charlotte chuckles]
Mm.
[TV chatter continues]
If we did send them to therapy…
Mm. What about it?
Would you be the one in charge of that?
[faucet running]
-I can if you want.
-[water stops running]
[suspenseful music plays]
[Britta] How close are you to an arrest?
THURSDAY
Things are looking really promising.
But, uh, I'd like to start
by apologizing for my behavior last time.
Of course we should offer the staff
the opportunity for therapy
after everything they've been through.
You said to us that you needed
all of our officers available for patrol.
That's true, but we can still offer
therapy to some parts of the team.
Get it started.
-How about we get 50 of 'em?
-[Lucas clears throat]
So that it doesn't
negatively affect the investigation.
-[Lucas sighs]
-You bring it up with Charlotte.
She can start with the first group
early tomorrow morning
at the university facility.
I feel like it could be
very valuable for us all.
[music fades out]
-[indistinct chatter]
-[phone ringing]
[Max] Hey, uh…
Petra was wondering if you and Charlotte
wanted to come over for dinner.
-So I said I'd check in with you.
-For dinner?
-I know you're busy, it's all right.
-[Thomas] Uh…
Sorry, there's too much
going on right now.
No, I meant after
this whole thing blows over.
You want me and her
to come over after this?
Yeah. We can sort that out.
Yeah. Amazing. We'll figure out something.
Hey, wait. Um…
Thanks for that list of officers.
Good work.
You think he's a cop, right?
[suspenseful music plays]
Why do you think that?
Thomas, we know each other
better than that.
How long have we worked together?
It's obvious that's what you think.
Just tell me.
Come on, let me help with this.
-Please, let me in.
-You are helping, Max.
[hesitates]
And let me talk to Charlotte, okay?
We'll get together for dinner. Okay?
[TV reporter] On the stairs behind me,
the families of fallen police officers
are arranging a ceremony
to be held tomorrow, Friday,
in a protest against the violence.
We're doing everything we can
with regards to this investigation.
[reporter] All this in spite of
Chief of Police Lucas Lind making it clear
that this is just another
Friday for the uniformed police force…
[sighs]
[door opens]
[Thomas] Hey.
Hey.
I told Lind and Sköld that
I'd changed my mind regarding the therapy.
So I see you're still struggling
with yesterday's philosophical question?
[Thomas] It's Thursday, Dad.
We're desperate.
Uh-huh.
Tomorrow they'll be hosting it
at the university.
Two floors above our classroom.
Hm. Convenient.
Very. [clears throat]
Here.
Charlotte starts the therapy
tomorrow morning,
but I can't be involved
because of all the conflicts of interest.
But if you can follow the interviews
from behind the mirrored glass and…
And if that moves us forward,
that's fantastic.
[scoffs]
You didn't get that from me.
You know that, right?
Is that really
the kind of police officer you are?
Is that the kind of man you are?
-What do you mean?
-There's two ways you can look at this.
You have enough balls
to be a little unethical
for the sake of the bigger picture,
or you do what you need
to stand by your beliefs.
But what you're doing now
is fence-riding, cowardly chicken-shit.
-Okay.
-But…
But I guess I never expected
a different choice from you.
So you can go ahead and leave now.
Beat it.
Okay.
Leave the key. What are you doing?
Come on, give me those.
Give me… What's wrong with you?
For fuck's sake.
I'll do it. I'll go over there.
Just to be clear,
I'm not doing it for you.
I got this.
-Get lost.
-Yeah. Fine.
Take that present over there with you.
It's for Bonnie.
For the last, uh…
couple of birthdays I missed.
I guess I lost count.
[somber music plays]
FRIDAY
-[door closes]
-[Charlotte] Mikkel Lassner.
[Mikkel clears throat]
[Mikkel] I just get so angry.
I mean, I completely lose it.
I don't know what gets me started.
What would your wife say
if I asked her that question?
She would say that, uh…
I bring my work home with me.
Stress.
And that I take it out
on her and the kids.
[Charlotte] Do you get violent at home?
-No, I don't.
-[Charlotte] How does it manifest?
[clock ticking]
I, uh…
I drink a lot.
Even when you're on patrol?
You don't need to worry.
We respect doctor-patient confidentiality.
[Mikkel sighs] Yeah.
On the night shifts…
When it gets busy
and we're forced to split up…
Then no one even knows 'cause I'm alone.
It's not something I'm proud of.
[officer] I responded
to a traffic accident.
Two were dead.
They were young kids.
Horrible injuries.
I couldn't save them.
[shakily] I went home
and tried to sleep, but I couldn't.
Because, um…
My kids were out playing in the yard,
and my youngest started screaming.
My oldest child… He's seven.
…hit his little brother in the head.
-[Charlotte] Then what happened?
-[officer] I ran out of the house.
Running full speed
across the yard in my socks,
and David saw me coming.
I saw how scared he was.
I… took him by the arm and…
I yelled at him.
I yelled about how
he can't hurt his brother.
It went on for a while…
Until I noticed he had wet himself.
[breathing shakily]
[officer 2]
People were fighting everywhere.
They had knives, weapons…
My partner and I tried grabbing them.
We were yelling anything
to get them to stop.
We're on edge 24/7 because of the murders.
Then a guy comes at us
with a baseball bat, making a big scene.
So… Yeah, we crossed the line.
And me and my partner
used that bat on him.
It was self-defense, but the sound…
You know, like… [pops lips]
It sounded like wood
smacking against wood.
From his skull.
She tied her children to the beds
and just abandoned both of them.
I didn't even realize I was being stabbed.
It felt like a punch… I had no idea.
And no one… hates the police
more than that guy.
That asshole…
While my friends
are being killed on patrol.
That entitled prick.
That arrogant fucking coward.
Who is it you're talking about?
Thomas Berg.
He thinks he runs shit
but he's not even a real cop.
[officer] Can I come back
for another session?
I have no one else to talk to.
-[Charlotte] That can be arranged.
-[thud]
[breathes shakily]
Is someone listening to us?
There's a two-way mirror here
for our students.
Some, uh, introductory therapy sessions
are supervised here.
[tense music plays]
Right… But is someone listening?
[Charlotte] No.
[chuckles nervously] Course not.
-You can check for yourself if you'd like.
-Yeah, I think I will.
[music fades out]
Shall we finish up?
[officer sighs deeply]
[suspenseful music plays]
[breathing heavily]
[woman speaking agitatedly, indistinctly]
[music fades out]
That's a hell of a way to get information.
It's unethical and just shitty.
There's zero technical evidence.
And nobody witnessed it. We have nothing.
Even if we suspect
the killer is one of those officers,
it doesn't give you the right
to violate their privacy.
He's murdering us!
What don't you understand?
In two more hours, someone will be dead!
What do you wa--
What do you want me to do? Nothing?
-[woman] Thomas.
-What is it?
-[woman] Calm down.
-Okay.
-[woman] Okay?
-Okay.
[Thomas sighs deeply]
I hope it was worth it.
[door opens, closes]
-Fucking great.
-[cellphone ringing]
[sighs]
[ringing stops]
What did you learn?
[Alfred] I can't believe all the shit
Charlotte has to deal with daily.
She spoke to all of them.
-[Thomas] And?
-And we were right.
The motive's definitely being an officer.
'Cause doing this job
will drive you crazy.
It's gonna be the death of us all.
Stop it, come on. You get anything or not?
-We have two hours left. What do we do?
-You know you left your laptop over here?
So, nothing?
Nothing that can move along
the investigation?
You gotta be kidding me!
Goddammit!
-[clattering]
-Shit!
[somber chanting and ethereal music plays]
-[Thomas yells]
-[call ends]
[takes a deep breath]
[indistinct chatter]
The ceremony is about to begin.
We thought that it would be
a nice gesture if all of us showed up
so we can support all of the families.
[breathes deeply]
He's with the… police.
The man who's murdering
our fellow officers.
[music fades out]
He's one of our own.
What… What the hell are you saying?
-What are you basing that on?
-[Britta] That can't be true.
-[Rebecca] Thomas?
-It is.
Everything comes back
to our guy being an officer.
We have to tell them now.
Given what might happen tonight.
[Lucas clears throat]
The ceremony's starting.
Um… So, um…
-Right, um…
-[Lucas sighs]
Now.
[choir singing gentle choral hymn]
I was thinking…
Maybe it's best if you resign.
If the investigation's too much for you.
-[church bell tolls]
-[singing continues]
[Thomas sighs]
[dark music plays]
[music fades out]
[clock ticking]
-[indistinct chatter]
-[keyboards clacking]
[operator] Is she responding?
[Thomas] We can play it again.
Yeah. I'll get something here.
I'll be home soon anyway.
[computer pings]
[music fades out]
THOMAS BERG
I NEED YOUR HELP
ARE YOU THERE?
[keyboard clacking]
