 (coffee sloshing)
 - Hey, guys, I am here at
 Crystal Ridge National Park.
I woke up feeling so lucky,
 sipping coffee in my brand
 new Odyssey travel mug.
So tasty and I just love
 this mug. (clears throat)
 (birds squawking)
 (gentle music)
Take a look at this view.
 Can you believe this
 is how I woke up?
 (birds squawking)
 (dramatic music)
 (birds chirping)

 (Blue whimpering)
 (Blue whimpering)
 Did you sleep well?
 Yeah, it's good for you.
 Tomorrow night, you
 are on the ground.
 (Blue whimpering)
 (Jodi breathing deeply)
 Let's get this day started.

 (Blue barking)
 (watch beeping)
 - [Bill] Hey, kiddo,
 did you sleep well?
 - [Jodi] No, I
 slept on the floor.
 - That sounds like
 real love to me.
 - Well, now I've got this knot
 between my shoulder blades.
 You'll have to give him
 a dog bed or something.
 (grass rustling)
 (metal clanging)
 (vehicle cranking)
 Hey, Dad, I'm gonna
 have to let you go.
 - [Bill] Talk soon.
 - What are you doing out here?
 - I was getting a climb in
 before I had to head
 to the Rock N'Roast,
but then my quad sputtered out.
 - Not Whispering Pines again.
 - No, Detective, not
 Whispering Pines.
 - How long have you been at it?
 - Long enough to know I'll
 probably have to walk.
 - May I?
 - You gonna show
 me up right now?
 - It's not very hard to do.
 (Ryan chuckles)
 (birds chirping)
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (object clacking)
 - Give it a try.
 (keys clattering)
 (vehicle cranking)
 - Your spark plug
 wire was loose.
 - I was gonna try that next.
 - Of course, you were.
 (Ryan chuckles)
 - Where'd your partner go?
 - Blue?
 Blue?
 (dramatic music)
 (dramatic music)
 Blue.
 (Blue barking)

 (suspenseful music)
 (plastic rustling)
 (vehicle revving)
 - Sorry.
 (vehicle rumbling)
 (suspenseful music)
 - I'm starting to think you're
 allergic to slow mornings.
 - Well, it was a slow morning
 until Blue found the body.
 - [Nora] What do we know?
 - Not much. No ID.
 No obvious cause of death.
 No sign of struggle.
 No bruising.
 Autopsy report will be telling.
 - Anything found around her?
 - Only thing was a travel
 coffee mug, bagged already.
 - Closest campsite's Silver
Creek. It's just south of here.
 - She wasn't staying
 in Silver Creek.
 - How do you know?
 - There's ponderosa pine
 needles on her ankle.
 - He's right.
 Only campsite with those
 trees is Echo Valley.
 - All right, why don't
 you check out Echo Valley.
 We'll take a look at
 Silver Creek just in case.
 (suspenseful music)
 - Hey, military.
 You might wanna change
 into your uniform
 before you start
 kicking indoors.
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 (suspenseful music continues)

 (suspenseful music continues)
 - This is Officer Larsen
 with the MPS Police.
 (birds squawking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (zipper rasping)
 (suspenseful music)

 (Blue barking)
 (Blue sighing)
 Samantha Eaton.
 (birds squawking)
 (suspenseful music)
 Thanks, can process now.
 Thanks.
 - Okay.
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds squawking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (radio beeping)
 Found our campsite.
 Her name is Samantha Eaton
 and she was not alone.
 - [Tyson] Copy.
 (birds chirping)
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds squawking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 (suspenseful music)
 - Let's walk through
 what we have so far.
 - [Tyson] Okay, so we now know
that the victim had a husband.
 - That's right.
 And his name is
 Dave Eaton, age 24.
 Dave and Samantha
 have been married
a little over a year now.
 - We do have the video
 of them arriving together
 at the park yesterday.
I've been trying to call Dave.
 Haven't reached him yet,
 but I'll keep trying.
 Nothing on his current
 whereabouts yet.
 - Results of the coroner's
 preliminary report
 are coming in soon.
 Hopefully, things get cleared up
once we have a cause of death.
 - Samantha Eaton is a
 popular lifestyle vlogger.
 I looked into some background
 on Samantha's family
 and both her parents
 are deceased.
 Her mother, more recently.
 Dave and Samantha live about
 two hours from Crystal Ridge.
 Her younger sister,
 Kerry Bristle,
lives in the same town as them.
As far as I'm aware, that's the
 extent of Samantha's family.
 - I reached out
 to Kerry Bristle.
 She's Samantha's next
 to keen after Dave
 and she's on her way
 to identify the body.
 - I'll check CCTV footage
 for a missing car.
 Keep you updated.
 - The coffee found at
 Samantha's campsite,
I think you can get it
 at the Rock N'Roast.
 It might be worth
 speaking with Ryan
 as if he remembers
 who bought it.
 - Okay, I want the
 whereabouts of Dave ASAP.
 Jodi, Nora, let's track
 down that husband.
 Tyson, look through
 that CCTV footage
 and, Meeks, follow up on
 that coroner's report.
 - Copy.
 - Copy that.
 - [Tyson] Copy.
 - [Lisa] Larsen, I need
 a minute before you go.
 (footsteps clacking)
 (vehicle revving)
 (gentle music)
 (vehicle revving continues)
 (gentle music continues)
 (vehicle revving continues)
 (gentle music continues)
 (door clacking)
 (footsteps clacking)
 - Took a look at your proposal
 for the canine training.
 - I checked the Blue's chip.
 Nothing came up on
 the vet scanner,
which I was told was unusual.
 I've been in contact
 with shelters.
 The standard
 waiting period is 10
 to 14 days for
 him to be claimed.
 And after that, Blue's mine.
 - Well, the canine training
 unit wants assurances
 that no one is gonna
 show up and claim him.
 So if he's cleared.
 I'll approve the training.
 - Copy that. Thank you.
 (footsteps clacking)
 (gentle music)
 (object clacking)
 (bag rustling)
 (metal clanging)
 (footsteps thumping)
 (tense music)
 (footsteps thumping continues)
 (tense music continues)
 (birds chirping)
 (tense music)
 (objects clattering)
 (screen clacking)
 (birds squawking)
 (tense music)
 (camera clicking)
 (tense music)
 (vehicle humming)
 (tense music)
 (siren blaring)
 - [Officer] You are
 in a restricted area.
 Please, come with us.
 (mouse clicking)
 (inquisitive music)
 (traffic humming)
 (inquisitive music)
 (mouse clicking)
 (inquisitive music)
 (headphone buzzing)
 (inquisitive music)
 (device buzzing)
 - What do you got, Tyson?
 - I was able to track
 down Dave's car.
 Well, sort of.
 I followed the car
 on CCTV through town,
 but lost track of it
 hitting east on First.
 - Any idea of the
 current whereabouts?
 - No, but it looks
 like he was heading
 towards the hotel district.
 - Thanks, Tyson.
 Tyson tracked on Dave's car
and he may be staying in town.
 - Well, you know the
 best place to start.
 - Cliffside Inn.
 - Cliffside Inn.
 - Cliffside Inn.
 - [Jodi] Come on, buddy.
 - What kind of trouble you
 got yourself into this time?
 - I can explain.
 - Excuse me, Counselor.
 Ryan, this is the third
 time you've been caught
 in a restricted area.
 - I realize where
 Spring Pines is closed,
 but it has the best
 climbs and I'm not exactly
 a novice.
 - It's closed off
 for a reason.
 It doesn't matter how
 experienced you are.
 Only rangers and officers
 are allowed there.
 The only thing you're
 actively doing right now
 is search and rescue
and it's not a good look
 when our S.A.R. is
 breaking the rules.
 You here for him?
 - Yes. He called as soon
 as he was brought in.
 - Look, Superintendent,
 won't happen again.
 - It better not 'cause
 if you want any chance
 of getting into our detective
 unit when there's an opening,
 I can't have this behavior.
 - Understood.
 (inquisitive music)
 (inquisitive music)
 (Bill sighs)
 - Enjoy your stay.
 Hey, Nora.
 - [Nora] Madge.
 - Jodi, (chuckles)
 heard you were back.
 Oh, my. (chuckles)
 And you haven't
 come to see me yet.
 - Sorry, Madge. I've
 just been settling in.
 - Of course, what
 can I do for you?
 - His name's Dave Eaton.
 We're looking for him.
 (suspenseful music)
 - You know, I pride myself
 on my discretion, right?
 - I know, but
 - Okay, he checked in
 early this morning.
 No reservation. Just
 walked right in.
 - We need to talk to him.
Oh, well, he was in room eight.
 - Was?
 - Yeah, he checked
 out like minutes ago.
 - Did he leave yet?
 - No.
 (suspenseful music)
 It doesn't look that way.
 (suspenseful music)
 - Thanks.
 (suspenseful music)
 (Blue barking)
 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
 (Blue barking)
 - [Jodi] Blue, down.
 - Excuse me, sir.
 Are you Dave Eaton?
 - Yeah.
 - Where with the MPS.
 We've been looking for you.
 (gentle music)
 (vehicle whooshing)
 It's about your wife.
 (gentle music)
 (vehicle whooshing)
 - Thanks for having my back.
 The ranger who brought me
in is new. He didn't know.
 - Ryan, trespassing
 multiple times?
 What's going on?
 Don't gimme that stuff
 about great climbs
 that you fed lies King.
 (birds chirping)
 (suspenseful music)
 You can tell me.
 (birds chirping)
 (suspenseful music)
 - I've been looking
 into Whispering Pines.
 - Why?
 - I was there that day when
 your wife had her accident.
 - I know.
So why were you there today?
 - Something never
 sat right with me.
 Look, just gimme some
 time and I promise,
 I'll explain everything.
 - Okay.
 Well, whatever this is,
 don't say anything to Jodi.
 - Of course.
Thanks for being here for me.
 (gentle music)
 (gentle music)
 (footsteps clacking)
 (people chattering)
 (gentle music continues)
 (gentle music continues)
 - What do we have so far?
 - David Eden left
 the park at 3:50 AM
 in his vehicle this morning.
He stayed at the inn last night.
 - [Nora] Alone.
 - [Tyson] Yes.
 - It's a strange thing to do.
 - Strange, but it's not a crime.
 Jodi, talk to him.
 See what we can learn.
 - Copy that.
 (suspenseful music)
 (door clacking)
 (footsteps thumping)
 (Dave sobbing)
 (door clacking)
 (dramatic music)
 (door thudding)
 (dramatic music)
 (Dave sniffing)
 (dramatic music)
 - It all just feels so crazy.
 - I understand.
 We just wanna know what
 happened to your wife.
 - I don't know what happened.
 (dramatic music)
 Where was she?
 - She was just off
 a trail, actually.
 (dramatic music)
 Let's start at the beginning.
 - Yeah. I mean (sobbing)
 Last time I saw
 her was yesterday.
 - When? What time?
 - I'm not sure.
 I left the campsite,
checked in to a hotel in
 the middle of the night.
 - Was that the last
 time you saw Samantha?
 - Yeah.
 - Why'd you leave?
 - We got into a fight.
It was nothing. It was stupid.
 She thought I was
 flirting with some girl
 while we were in town.
 It was ridiculous.
All I did was say hi
 to one of her fans.
 She was always jealous
 of anybody I talked to.
It was the one thing about
 her I could never understand.
 That night, I just didn't
 wanna hear anymore.
 So I just left.
 I just wanted some space.
I was gonna come back today.
 (dramatic music)
 (vehicle rumbling)
 (birds chirping)
 - What's going on?
 - Heard you came by the
 shop looking for receipts.
 - Yeah, you weren't there.
 - Yeah, sorry, I was busy,
but I was told you were
 looking for information
 on Samantha Eaton.
 - You know her?
 - Not personally, but one
 of my baristas follows her,
 says she's making a fortune.
 So anyway, I looked
 through the receipts.
 - And?
 - And I didn't find any
 purchases from Samantha Eaton,
 but I did find a
 purchase from Dave Eaton
 from a few days ago.
 Two mugs and a bag
 of Brite Spot Coffee.
 - Thanks so much. This is great.
 - Yeah, you're welcome.
 Hopefully, it helps.
 Oh, another thing.
 I checked out a couple
 of Samantha's videos.
 Some pretty hateful
 comments on there.
 - It's Ryan Miller
 playing a detective.
 - I'm just saying, it's
 something to look into.
 - Thanks. I will.
 (footsteps thumping)
 - You got something.
 - Catch you later?
 (vehicle rumbling)
 (vehicle revving)
 - What'd your boyfriend want?
 - Boyfriend?
 Please. He's just
 playing detective.
 - Well, he was in ISB training.
 - He was?
 - Yeah, graduated
 and everything.
Fast track to join the team.
 You got the job instead.
 You didn't know that?
 Anyway, coroner's
 report came in.
 (footsteps thumping)
 (dramatic music)
 (birds chirping)
 - No, where is she? (sobbing)
 What happened to my
 sister? (sobbing)
 - I'm Officer Esposito. We
 spoke on the phone earlier.
 If you just wanted-
 - Kerry.
 - To take a sit.
 (Kerry crying)
 (dramatic music)
 (Kerry crying)
 (dramatic music continues)
 (Kerry sobbing)
 - I'm so sorry
 about your sister.
 - Tell me what happened to her.
 - The coroner's report confirmed
 that she passed due
 to anaphylactic shock.
 - That's not possible. (sobbing)
 - You didn't know of
 your sister's allergen?
 We both do. She's highly
 allergic to peanut.
 - It appears she
 accidentally ingested some.
 - No, she reads label on
 everything. She has an EpiPen.
 - Does she always
 carry it with her?
 - Of course. She doesn't
 go anywhere without one.
 - There was no EpiPen
 found at the scene.
 - (sobbing) This
 doesn't make any sense.
 - We're gonna ask you two
to stick around for a bit
 if that's okay.
 - If you just wanna
 follow me this way.
 (Kerry sobbing)
 (dramatic music)
 - Revisit the scene.
 - Copy that.
 I'll widen the
 scope of the search.
Make sure we didn't the EpiPen.
 - Agreed. Take Nora with you.
 - Copy.
 (vehicle rumbling)
 - All right. Come on, buddy.
 (suspenseful music)
 (footsteps thumping)
 - Thanks.
 (suspenseful music)
 (Blue panting)
 (suspenseful music)
 (footsteps thumping)
 (zipper rasping)
 (suspenseful music)
 (plastic rustling)
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 Okay, buddy.
 (plastic rustling)
 Okay, search.
 - You think Blue
 can find the EpiPen?
 - That's worth the shot.
 (dramatic music)
 (birds chirping)
 - Yeah, needle in a haystack.
You sure it wasn't at her tent?
 - Correct.
 Now maybe we're looking
 in the wrong place.
 - Well, one of the first
 effects of anaphylactic shock
 is becoming disoriented.
 So it's possible that Samantha
 headed in the wrong direction
 without realizing it.
 - Maybe in her disorientation
 she thought she was
 headed back to camp
 when actually she
 hiked down here.
 - [Nora] Where the
 body was found.
 - We've been looking
 in the direct vicinity
 of Samantha's body.
 - When maybe we should be
looking up ahead on the trail
 where she was more likely
 to have used the EpiPen.
 (plastic rustling)
 Come on, buddy.
 (Blue barking)
 (keyboard clacking)
 (suspenseful music)
 - I looked into the
 whole hater thing.
 Some of those
 comments were cruel.
 - Yeah, social media
 is a dumpster fire.
 - Agreed. But I
 did some digging.
 Turns out one of
 these haters happens
 to be staying at
 the park right now.
 Not only that,
 but Samantha has a
 restraining order against him.
 - Okay.
Maybe not so much a hater,
 but more of a stalker.
 - He's at Timberwood
 Campgrounds.
 Name's Dustin Stokes.
 - Tyson, you amaze me.
 - That's what my mother says.
 - Yeah. Well, she's not wrong.
 (suspenseful music)
 (keyboard clacking)
 - [Jodi] Samantha
 Eaton's body was found
 at 25-minute walk
 from her campsite.
 - And typically, it takes
 about five to 15 minutes
 to go into anaphylactic shock
 after ingesting something.
 - So let's say, she used her
 EpiPen seven to nine minutes
 into the hike.
 - Right, but this
 all just depends
 on when she ingested
 those peanuts.
 (dramatic music)
 (Blue barking)
 (dramatic music)
 (Blue barking)
 - Good boy, Blue.
 (Velcro rasping)
 (suspenseful music)
 - He got that, yeah.
 (suspenseful music)
 (Blue grunting)
 (suspenseful music)
 (bird chirping)
 (plastic rustling)
 (suspenseful music)
 (Jodi sighs)
 (suspenseful music)
 (bird chirping)
 - What?
 (static crackling)
 - Bernard, copy?
 (radio beeping)
 - You got me.
 - Do you have the
 coroner's report handy?
 (radio beeping)
 - [Tyson] Pulling up
 the digital file now.
 - Is there a mention of a
 potential puncture wound
 from an EpiPen?
 (radio beeping)
 - There was a small
 wound on Samantha's side
 caused by a needle.
 Says, it could have
 been an EpiPen.
 - So she did use it.
 - What about the epinephrine?
 - Looking.
 (mouse clicking)
 (suspenseful music)
 Weird.
 - Let me guess, no epinephrine
 found in her system.
 - Correct.
 - Thanks, Tyson.
 (radio beeping)
 (suspenseful music)
 (vehicle humming)
 (suspenseful music)
 (car door thudding)
 (suspenseful music)
 - Mr. Stokes, MPS Police.
 (zipper rasping)
 (suspenseful music)
 (leaves rustling)
 Dustin Stokes?
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 (chair clattering)
 (both grunting)
 (both thudding)
 (both grunting)
 - [Dustin] I didn't do anything.
 - Then why are you running?
 (handcuff clattering)
 (suspenseful music)
 (radio beeping)
 (panting) I have Dustin
 Stokes in custody.
 Dude decided to hike it.
 (radio beeping)
 Seriously, I didn't
 stretch this morning.
 (vehicle humming)
 (seatbelt clacking)
 (birds chirping)
 - Are you not coming in?
 - I'm gonna pay Dave
 and Kerry a visit.
 Would you mind watching
 Blue for a minute?
 - Of course.
 Okay, I'll get this
 EpiPen into analysis.
 (car door clacking)
 - Come on, Blue.
 (chuckles) He knows the way.
 (car door thudding)
 - I didn't do anything wrong.
 (suspenseful music)
 - "I hate you for
 not responding to me.
This is how you treat fans?
You're going to learn the hard
 way. You're an awful person.
 Bad things happen
 to bad people."
These are all comments you left
 on Samantha Eaton's
 social media.
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 - Sure. I mean, I
 said some mean things,
 but I just wanted
 her to talk to me.
 Look, I knew she
 was gonna be here.
 She didn't make that a
 secret. She posts everything.
I've followed her for a long
 time and I thought that
 I just thought we'd
 get along. That's all.
 - Well, this morning, she died.
 - She's dead?
 - That's right.
 Not far from where
 you're staying.
 - She died in Buckington?
 - Where?
 (suspenseful music)
 (footsteps rustling)
 (car door clacking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (car door thudding)
 (suspenseful music)
 (footsteps thumping)
 (radio beeping)
 - Bernard.
 - Go for Tyson.
 - Dustin Stokes wasn't even in
 the park when Samantha died.
 He was its own
 festival in Buckington.
 - Ooh, I love that festival.
 - Didn't need to know that.
 But he does have photos
 which are timestamped
 and names of people who
 can verify his whereabouts.
 - Copy. On it.
 (radio beeping)
 (radio clattering)
 (keyboard clacking)
 - [Dave] So nobody at
 the campground saw her
 when she had her reaction?
 - We're still doing her digging,
 but we did find
 Samantha's EpiPen.
 - So she did have it.
 - It appears so.
 (suspenseful music)
Has she been using it long?
 - Yeah, since she was a kid.
 - Have either of you ever
 needed to use an EpiPen?
 - [Dave] I never have.
 (suspenseful music)
 - I have once when we were
 younger, but not since then.
 (suspenseful music)
 (birds chirping)
 - Thank you both
 for sticking around.
 We'll have some more
 information for you soon.
 (dramatic music)
 (door clacking)
 - Officer Larsen.
 (footsteps thumping)
 (dramatic music)
 I'm sorry to run
 after you like this.
 - It's okay.
What can I do for you?
 - So that EpiPen, did
 Samantha just not use it?
 - We don't know everything yet.
 We'll have more
 information for you soon.
 (dramatic music)
 What is it?
 You can speak freely.
 I'm here to help.
 - She knows how
 to use the EpiPen.
 She had one on her.
 What happened? (sobbing)
 - Hey.
 Rest assured, we're looking
 into all possibilities, okay?
 (dramatic music)
 (car door clacking)
 (dramatic music)
 (car door thudding)
 (dramatic music)
 (vehicle cranking)
 (footsteps thudding)
 (suspenseful music)
 (suspenseful music continues)
 (suspenseful music continues)
 Hey, Tyson, can you
 get me the contents
 of Samantha's stomach
 and anything from the campsite
 that reads us out
 of the ordinary.
 - Way ahead of you on
 that one, Detective.
 (dramatic music)
 (phone ringing)
 - Stoke's was a bust.
 He's getting booked
 for misdemeanor,
 but as far as Samantha
 goes, he alibied out.
 (suspenseful music)
 (suspenseful music)
 (paper rustling)
 (suspenseful music)
 - Tyson had the grinder
 and the coffee beans
 checked by the lab
 both had traces
 of peanut residue.
 - It could be
 cross-contamination
 from anywhere.
 - I knew you were smart.
While we were waiting for the
 report, I spoke with Ryan.
Brite Spot Coffee is his brand.
 They roasted in-house
and he made it clear that they
 are a nut-free establishment.
 - Of course, they are.
 - He even has an AFCP
 certificate to verify.
 - AFCP?
 - Allergen-free
 certificate program.
There is no way that peanuts
were mixed in with these beans.
 Samantha Eaton died
 of anaphylactic shock,
 but it wasn't an accident.
 She was alone the
 morning she died
 and it's clear that
 she would never
 intentionally ingest peanuts.
 So that means someone put
 ground peanuts into her beans.
 So when she made
 her morning coffee-
 - Are we saying what
 I think we're saying?
 (suspenseful music)
 - This was murder.
 - Good find, military.
 - Tyson, where are we
 with the fingerprints?
 - Checked.
 Only Samantha Eaton's
 fingerprints were
 found on the EpiPen.
 - Well, we have two
 persons of interest.
 - Let's bring them
 both in for questioning
 and let's not share
 any of this with them.
See what we can shake out.
 I'll take point with Dave.
 Nora, you take Kerry.
 - Copy.
 - I'll be back to the campsite.
 - I'll be back to the campsite.
 See if anyone heard
 or seen anything.
 - Let's get to it.
 (vehicle humming)
 (footsteps thudding)
 (gentle music)
 (dog bed thudding)
 (crate thudding)
 (Bill sighs)
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (paper rustling)
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (footsteps thudding)
 (gentle music)
 - Right.
 - All right, thanks.
 (suspenseful music)
 - Yeah.
 - Yeah.
 - Yeah, yeah.
 (radio beeping)
 - Nothing yet.
 I'll keep asking around.
 Report back what I find.
 (bird squawking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (finger thudding)
 (door clacking)
 (suspenseful music)
 (door thudding)
 - Thanks for coming back in.
Just a couple of things I
want to go over with you,
 if that's okay.
 - Yeah, of course. I wanna help.
 - Did you ever handle
 Samantha's EpiPens?
 - No, I was the person that
 would pick up her prescriptions,
 but that's about as
 close to it as get.
 - Is there anyone or anything
 that you can think of
 who might wanna
 hurt your sister?
 - No. I mean, everyone
 loves Samantha.
She just lights up a room.
 - So no rivals, no enemies
 that you can think of?
 - She's just a travel vlogger
 and she's the nicest
 person in the world.
 Was.
 - It's our job to explore
 all possibilities.
We have to go down every road
 if something doesn't add up.
 - I get it
 and I want that too.
 (suspenseful music)
 (paper rustling)
 - Yeah, they were
 staying over there.
 - [Alexander] So you saw them?
 - Yeah. I never talked to them.
 - Anything stand out
 to you about them?
 - Only thing that jumps out
 is some argument they had.
 Marriage related maybe?
 - You remember what
 they were arguing about?
 (inquisitive music)
 - I definitely heard him
 say something about money.
 (inquisitive music)
 (cellphone buzzing)
 (inquisitive music)
 (cellphone beeping)
 - Um.
 (inquisitive music)
 (inquisitive music continues)
 - Tell me about your marriage.
 - Of course.
 - Was there anything that Dave
 and Samantha thought
 about that you know of?
 Maybe money related?
 - Um.
 I know Samantha wanted
 him to sign a postnup.
 Dave didn't make as much,
 but, you know, you never
 know how things will end.
 - Any stresses about money?
 - No.
 Samantha was making millions
of dollars on our brand deals.
 - Why do you think the post
 postnup was so important?
 - I think she just
 wanted to ensure
 that I saw a good
 portion of her money
 in case something happened.
 I know Dave didn't
 wanna sign the postnup.
I couldn't care less either way.
 I told her that.
 (inquisitive music)
 - Why don't you tell
 me about the postnup?
 - How do you know about that?
Okay, ask me about the postnup.
 - Why didn't you sign it?
 - I did sign it.
 (dramatic music)
 (upbeat music)
 - Thank you very much.
 (upbeat music)
♪ He was all in but
 I kept wanting that ♪
 - Ah, did we miss last call?
 - Just in time.
Hi, Blue. I know what you want.
 (Blue whimpering)
 (whipped cream hissing)
 - Oh.
 - Here you go, boy.
 - (laughs) Okay.
 - And for you?
 - Ah, something strong.
 - Ah, something strong.
 - Case not going well?
 - Lots of question marks.
 - President of the
 mystery book club,
not a fan of question marks.
 - Embarrassing that
 you remember that.
 - Hard to forget. And weren't
 you also the only member?
 - Yes, I was the only member.
 (Ryan laughs)
 (Jodi chuckles)
 (Jodi chuckles)
 - Hey, anything come
 from that hater angle?
 - It looked promising for
 a minute, but no, nothing.
It was a good instinct though.
 Hey, why didn't you tell
me that you put in for ISB?
 - I don't know. It
 was a while back.
 That's why I joined S.A.R.
And when there was an opening,
I heard that you got the job.
So yeah, I'll put it in
 again with the time's right.
 - Ryan Miller, a cop. Still
can't wrap my head around it.
 - I missed it.
Guess, I got the itch when
I got back, so I applied.
 - Strange. You just were never
 really one to follow rules.
 - Well,
 people change.
 (upbeat music)
 (cup thudding)
 ♪ You, baby
 - Good luck with the case.
 - Thanks.
 I'm gonna need it.
 (upbeat music)
 (vehicle humming)
 (car door clacking)
 (car door thudding)
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (gentle music)
 (paper rustling)
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (gentle music continues)
 (birds chirping continues)
 (gentle music continues)
 (birds chirping continues)
 (Blue sniffing)
 Hey, buddy, I know
 you wanna play.
 I'll play later, okay?
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (Blue grunting)
 (birds chirping)
 - I wanted to take a moment
 to talk about
 something important.
 This is an EpiPen.
And even if you don't need one,
 it's important to
 know how to use it
just in case someone near you
 finds themselves needing help.
 It could be the difference
 between life and death.
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 - Oh, here we go.
 (gentle music)
 (birds chirping)
 (keyboard clacking)
 (gentle music)
 - Now it's time to get cooking
 or should I say baking.
 So first off, you're only
 gonna get all your ingredients.
So we have our milk, our brown
 sugar, our flour, our eggs,
 and our measuring
 cups, our bowls,
 and of course, our peanuts.
So I like to grind my peanut up
 in this little
 grinder that I have.
 So we're just gonna open
 this, have your spoon
 and then just pour
 some of that there.
 (peanut rattling)
 Oop.
 Put this bit on
 and then grind.
 (grinder rattling)
 (suspenseful music)
It takes a little bit. (laughs)
 (suspenseful music)
 (screen clacking)
 (cellphone ringing)
 (suspenseful music)
 - [Tyson] This is Tyson.
 - I think I know who
 killed Samantha Eaton.
 (suspenseful music)
 (footsteps clacking)
 (inquisitive music)
 (door clacking)
 (inquisitive music)
 (door thudding)
 I won't take up too
 much more of your night.
 You didn't feel you
 needed a lawyer.
No, I have nothing to hide.
 (inquisitive music)
 You work a lot with
 your sister, don't you?
 Must be tough to be
 your sister's partner,
but have her be the only
 one in the limelight.
 - I mean,
I do all of the important
work, a lot of the editing.
Plus I get to do some
 of my own videos.
 - [Jodi] You do the grunt work.
 - I mean, it's a
 good partnership.
 Was a good arrangement.
 - But she takes
 most of the money.
 You're an employee pretty much.
 (inquisitive music)
 - I didn't, I didn't do it.
 That's what you're asking.
 - I'm not asking anything
other than if it was tough
 to always come second
 to your sister.
 - We were more than sisters.
 I was her right hand
 in case she needed me.
 Nothing happens without me.
 That's not being second.
 Okay, I'm important.
 - Why did you
 poison your sister?
 (tense music)
 - I would never, I
 I couldn't, I
 (dramatic music)
 (dramatic music continues)
I didn't mean to do it.
 (Kerry sobbing)
 (dramatic music)
 She was supposed
 to use her EpiPen.
I mean, why didn't she use it?
 (dramatic music)
 (Kerry crying)
 (dramatic music)
 (Kerry crying continues)
 (dramatic music continues)
 (door thudding)
 (dramatic music)
 (footsteps thudding)
 (people chattering)
 - I got a full confession.
 Kerry Bristle is responsible
 for putting peanuts
 in Samantha's coffee.
And she said she did it alone.
 - Kerry murdered her own sister?
 - Unintentionally, but, yeah.
We need to get Dave Eaton back
in here to tell him the news.
 (paper rustling)
 (suspenseful music )
 I need to ask Kerry
 one more question.
 (paper rustling)
 - I wanted to inform
 you that Kerry confessed
 to putting ground peanuts in
 Samantha's coffee grinder.
 She wanted Samantha to
 have an allergic reaction.
 - Why would she do that?
 - Because she was jealous
 and she wanted to ruin
 Samantha's brand deal.
 - Thanks for telling me that.
 - But she also wanted
 Samantha to use her EpiPen.
 (paper rustling)
 (dramatic music)
 She planned for the
 allergic reaction,
 not death.
 (suspenseful music)
 So that means that somebody
 tampered with Samantha's EpiPen.
 Somebody who knew Kerry's plan.
 (suspenseful music)
So if you found my fingerprints,
 I-
 - We didn't.
 Not on the outside.
 Only Samantha's fingerprints
 were found on the outside.
Yours were found on the inside.
 (suspenseful music)
 You knew Kerry's plan
 because she just admitted
to me that she told you
 about it.
 - That's not true.
 - Yes, it is.
 - Yes, it is.
 She said you laughed it
 off, but you really didn't.
You wanted to kill your wife.
 You removed the medicine
 from her EpiPen,
 making Kerry the murderer if
 anyone suspected foul play.
 You saw an opportunity
 and you took it.
And do you wanna know why?
 Because of the money.
 (suspenseful music)
 - I want a lawyer.
 - You're gonna need one
 because you are under arrest
 for the murder of your
 wife, Samantha Eaton.
 (suspenseful music)
 - How'd you figure it out?
 - Kerry was jealous
 of Samantha's success.
 She was tired of
 being in the shadows.
 Kerry put peanut grounds into
 Samantha's coffee grinder
 knowing that Samantha would
 brew fresh coffee that morning.
 Unbeknownst to Samantha,
 she ingest the peanuts.
 Kerry thought Samantha
 would use her EpiPen
 sabotaging her brand
 deal, but saving her life.
And Samantha did use the EpiPen.
 But what Kerry didn't know
 is that Dave had
 tampered with it.
 He emptied the epinephrine.
 He wanted Samantha dead.
 (dramatic music)
 (Samantha panting)
 (dramatic music continues)
 (Samantha panting continues)
And as for Dave, he picked
a fight so he could leave
 before she made coffee
 with Kerry's grinder.
 - We found his fingerprints
on the inside of the EpiPen.
 - Yes.
 - He signed the postnup.
 - Tyson.
 - Jodi asked me to look
 into Dave's finances.
 He was embezzling money from
his wife for quite a while.
 A lot.
 To the point that Samantha
 hired an attorney.
 Their postnup called for Dave
to get half of Samantha's money
 as long as they
 were still married
 and nothing if
 they got divorced.
 - Kerry put the peanut
 grounds into the grinder
 and with one slight adjustment,
 Dave could have it all,
and Kerry would be none the
 wiser and take the fall.
 Kerry's tears for
 her sister were real.
 It was an accident.
 She's not a killer. Not
one who meant to do it.
 (dramatic music)
 - Nice job, military.
 (dramatic music)
 (Blue whimpering)
 (gentle music)
 (footsteps thumping)
 - Larsen?
 Long day. You headed out?
 - Unless you need anything.
 - You're free to go.
 Nice work today.
 Between your instincts
 and that dog's nose,
 we have a pretty good
 team
 unorthodox maybe,
but a team that shows results.
 Get some rest. Tomorrow,
we do it all over again.
 - Yes ma'am. Goodnight.
 - Goodnight.
 (gentle music)
 (footsteps thumping)
 (card door clacking)
 (vehicle cranking)
 (cricket chirping)
 (screen clacking)
 (dramatic music)
 - Are you stalking me?
 - Yes, Ryan.
 It's your irresistible charm.
 - You could have just said no.
 You solve those question marks.
 - We did. It was a tough
 one, but we got there.
 So listen, about
 Whispering Pines.
 - You never turn off, do you?
 - (scoffs) It's
 something I'm working on.
 Come on, buddy.
 So I found out this
 evening at work
that you got hit with a
 trespassing charge again.
 - Is this an investigation?
 - No, that's just my curiosity.
 - What can I say? Can't
 stay away from those climbs.
 - Well, King is no nonsense.
You wanna make it to ISB,
 gotta lead by example.
 - I hear you.
 - See you tomorrow?
 Come on, buddy.
 (Blue panting)
 (gentle music)
 (suspenseful music)
 (screen clacking)
 (gentle music)
 Thanks for all the dog
 toys. Blue loves them.
 - [Bill] I thought Blue
 could use a few things.
 - Can I ask you something?
 - Sure.
 - How do you turn it off
at the end of the day?
 I just can't seem to.
 - Well, the only thing
 that could ever take
 me away from work
 was coming home to
 you and your mother.
 I think you gotta have
 some kind of anchor,
 otherwise, you just float away.
 - Yeah, but, Dad, you
 worked all the time.
 - I guess, I should
 follow my own advice.
 - Well, at least I know
 where I get it from.
 - Hey, I'm up at the cabin.
 Why don't you come up?
 - I can't. I have
 too much work to do.
 (cellphone beeping)
 - Sorry, Dad. I'm just
 getting in another call.
 - Okay, well, I'm
 here if you need.
 Talk tomorrow, kiddo.
 (screen beeping)
 - Hello?
 - [James] This is
 Colonel James Andrews.
 Is this Jodi Larsen
 I'm speaking to?
 - This is Jodi.
 - [James] I realize it's late.
 Buddy of mine saw social
 media posts for lost dog.
 - Yes, Blue. I
 found him recently.
 - [James] Blue?
 - That's just what
 I've been calling him.
 - [James] Blue. I like it.
Well, yes, I believe he is mine.
 Prior to be mine though,
 he was property of the
 United States Army.
 (suspenseful music)
 - Oh.
 (suspenseful music)
 - [James] Miss, everything okay?
 (suspenseful music)
