Helck (2023) s01e03 Episode Script

1
[narrator] As Helck wins his
way through the tournament,
Vermilio attempts
to thwart him.
However, Helck clinches
a spot in the finals.
Another member of the four
elite lords, Azudra the Blue,
suggests the final challenge
be to retake Castle Urum
by defeating the
winged soldiers.
In order to keep
an eye on Helck,
Vermilio joins the competitors.
[THE ROAD TO CASTLE URUM]
[opening theme]
[THE UNKNOWN ENEMY]
[dramatic fanfare]
[Asta sighs]
Feels nice here.
[birds chirping]
So this is where
the humans call home.
I've never been this far
inside their territory before.
It's lovely.
Nothing at all like
the decayed wastelands
of the Empire.
I guess it makes sense
given that our lands
are enshrouded with toxin.
We can't even be outside
for very long.
Thank goodness all our major
hubs, the castles and cities,
are protected by the barriers.
It's our only way to stay safe.
Looks like they don't need
anything like that here.
I bet it doesn't take
very much for them
to maintain this
environment either.
I must say that
I'm a little envious
of the humans who get
to live here.
Well, I should get a move on.
Okay, the capital is southwest,
and it's the enemy's stronghold.
So I can't get caught or
everything could fall apart.
Hope the tournament's
going well.
Last I heard, Lady Vermilio
went to Castle Urum
with the final four contestants.
Knowing she's out there
getting her hands dirty,
shows how serious this is.
Keep your composure,
but if you have
to go to extremes,
go right ahead! [grunts]

She's taking this a bit too far.

[monsters squealing]
[footsteps thudding]
[Vermilio] The number of
monsters keeps increasing.
Hope one of those big
fellas doesn't show up.
Gotta say those are
weird looking critters.
Yeah, well that's
because their mutation
spawned by the toxin
outside of the barriers.
The toxin, eh?
Damn, there's so many,
and we still have a long
way to go until a safe area!
Don't they ever take a break?
It might be better if
I handle this situation.
I can take out all
the monsters at once.
[Vermilio] Hmm, this is
a good opportunity.
Since this guy
made it to the finals,
I'd like to see
what he's capable of.

[dramatic music]
[bar snaps]

What good's that supposed to do?
Surely he's getting ready
to use a type-2 ability.
That's right,
after eating some beans,
I can generate a super
durable protective barrier.

[air whooshing]
Whoa, now that's a
crazy amount of intensity.

Does he really have
to do all the groaning
for it to actually work?
[Dorshe groaning]
[dramatic music]
[Vermilio]
There's even more of them!
Hey, how long does it take
for your barrier to show up?
[Dorshe] Oh, I don't know.
Maybe about 30 minutes or so.
Ah, we'll all be dead
by then, seriously!
[fire roaring]
Whoa, bitchin'!
I could dig it!
Aha, I freaking knew it.
[dramatic music]
Ah.
[Helck] That must be
one of the safe zones.
I know it doesn't
look like much,
but there's a barrier in place
to keep us all safe
from the toxin.
[whimsical music]
Woo, I'm bushed, tired,
wiped, I'm exhausted.
[Hyura] All right, we get it.
[Vermilio] After
leaving the stadium,
we went the entire day
without taking any breaks.
I suppose it's only natural
for them to be tired.
[statue cracks]
[Helck grunts]
All except for the Neanderthal.
Oh man, I broke the statue.
Oh, you're in trouble now.
Hand it over to me.
Restoration is one
of my specialties.
Oh, that's cool.
[Vermilio] Helck
hasn't shown any signs
of exhaustion this entire time.
I've been wondering how
he made the long journey
to reach the stadium.
Now I understand.
His stamina must be
practically infinite,
but it's still unclear
if he has a resistance
to the toxin or not.
Either way, it's safe
to say that obstacles
of this level don't even
pose a challenge to him.
[Dorshe grunts]
[statue thuds]

[Kenros] Nice, now let's eat!
The power of Helck the hero
is mighty indeed.
[Kenros] By the way
[Hyura] What is it?
Is that Anne girl with us
actually some kind
of big shot or what?
I noticed you were
calling her "ma'am" earlier.

watch your attitude around her.
[Kenros] Okay,
so she is a big shot.
[Hyura sighs]
Listen, and you have to
promise not to freak out.

I'm pretty sure that she's
really Elite Lord Lady Vermilio.

[groaning]
[Hyura] Lady Vermilio
was being extra cautious
about eating any
of Helck's cooking.

[Vermilio groans]
[Vermilio] I'm just
going to have to eat it.
Otherwise he might
think I don't trust him.
Plus a member of
the management staff
would be happy to eat
anything right now.

[Vermilio] Grr, I
hate you even more now!
I swear one day
I'll have my revenge!
[Vermilio groans]

[dice rattle]

from the second safe zone.
However, there's an extremely
dangerous storm
developing on their route,
so they will use the underground
path to get to Castle Urum.
Right, well, since
Vermi-germy is with them,
they'll be fine.
Is there anything to worry
about by going underground?
The toxin down there
is especially potent,
which spawns a lot of monsters.
No matter how many get wiped
out, they always come back.
It's why the path was
abandoned in the first place.
[dramatic music]
[Azudra] Shut your trap!
Don't get her all worried.

It isn't really that
big of a deal.
It's just we've had
so many ominous things
happening around here lately.
I can't help but be concerned.

troops and send them as escorts.
I get how you feel,
but Vermi makes
the best use of her powers
with fewer people around.
Besides sending a bunch of
troops out to protect her
would only end up
getting in her way.

Not to mention there
is still a decent chance
those winged knights will launch
a surprise attack on us here.
Dividing our troops
is too risky.

incredibly strong.
So much so, all of us together
couldn't come close
to her power.

The toxin is potent here.
Don't fight any monsters other
than the ones in our way.

There sure are a bunch
of different creatures.
Pretty cool, right?
And all of them
are super ferocious.
Here's the lowdown.
This one's a plant type.
Watch out for their acid,
it's a pain in the ass.
Over here is a beast type.
Be careful not to get hit
by their claws or horns.
And they jump.
Also a pain in the ass.
Next up we've got a reptile
type and guess what?
They're a pain in the ass.
I think I get the gist.
[Kenros] Check out this one.
Oh wait, it's just
another beast type.
Why are you so excited
about things that kill you?
Guys, I need everyone to
start taking this seriously.
[Kenros] Oh yeah,
this is how you run away!
- [Helck] Uh-huh.
- [Vermilio screams]
Have you lost your minds?
They're going
to surround us again!

Guess I should help out.
Okie dokes, this might be a
good time for my super durable-
We don't have 30 minutes
to wait for any of your crap!

Vermi- or Miss Anne.

Look at the size of that
thing and those dark markings.
Ugly too.

This is just what
I hoped to avoid.
It's a New-World Lifeform.
[dramatic music]

These beasts appear in areas
with high toxin levels,
and although similar
in appearance,
they are much different
than regular monsters.
They attack everything,
even other beasts,
and have grown
ever more vicious.
I will take this one myself.
The rest of you

[Helck] I'm pretty familiar
with these jokers.
[Vermilio gasps]
Interesting, so we have
yet another oversized monster
that the toxin has created.
What the
I think he's going to
try to fight it alone.
He's got some big old balls.
I doubt he'll have much trouble.
Take a look.
Helck has a weapon
there on his side.
[Kenros] A sword.
He's already unstoppable
with his bare hands.
Imagine him with that.
You know, now that
I think about it,
he's only used his fists
so far in the tournament.
[footsteps tapping]
[dramatic music]
[monster roaring]
[Helck grunting]
[all gasp]
[Helck shouting]
[monster groans]
He just kicked it.
I was expecting
a little more.
Yeah, me too.
Wait, it's not over yet!
[dramatic music]
[Helck exhales]
[loud crash]
How you like that?
[Kenros] So dinky!
Behold the hero's blade!
Oh, come on,
please give me a break.
He didn't even need to
pull out his puny sword.
That's the tiniest sword ever.
[Hyura] Either way, seems
like he really did beat it
with just one kick.
How'd he do that?
[Kenros] He went full Helck.
Take a look. The path
is now cleared for us.
Okay, let's make a run for it!
Lady- I mean Anne.
Ah, oh
Go on ahead.
I'm going to burn its corpse
just to be extra cautious.
Way to go! You're really
something else, dude.
Even with your dinky sword.
Thanks for clearing the way.

I can not deny
that was impressive.
It would seem I might not
win this thing.
Okay then, based on
what Helck said earlier,
he must have already known
about the new world life forms.
[Vermilio exhales]
[fire roaring]
That could mean they appear
in the human realm too.
But I was under the
impression our efforts
to keep the toxin from
spreading have been working.
Damn it, we keep finding more
mysteries instead of answers.
Something is
definitely going on.
[wind whooshing]
Oh boy, we finally
made it, guys.
There's Castle Urum!
[Vermilio scoffs]

I've been waiting for you.

[dramatic music]
[Kushiki] Here we are.

Looks like a rock, dude.
Reciting the proper incantation
will uncover a path

After we pass through,
it's straight into battle.
And as a reminder,

victor of the tournament.

Lord, it comes down to this.

yourselves killed.

He might be planning to

And since Dorshe can use a
type two special ability,
it's possible he has what
it takes to defeat them.
Maybe this is all an act
to throw us off.
Either way, I know their type.
They're always obsessed
with winning.
I will not let my guard down.
[Kenros] Not gonna lie.
It would be kind of awesome
if Helck was the
new Demon Lord.
He's a standup guy.
He's got my vote.
[Dorshe] All I care about
is making sure
Lord Urum's death is avenged,
but we better hurry.
I'm getting kinda hungry.
- [Helck laughing]
- [Hyura] Helck is still the one
I need to be the most wary of.
That damn human hero is
way stronger than I am,
so there's only one way
I can pull this off,
and that's to defeat
the enemy leader.
before Helck even has a
chance to make his move.
I'm not letting you win this,
you neckless meat bag.
[Vermilio sighs]
[Azudra] I am the one
responsible
for informing Helck
about the tournament.
[Vermilio] I figured as much.
Of course, I should
have expected you would.
As I was listening
to you explain
your idea for the finals,
I started to have an
inkling that was the case.
After all, the place you were
found bleeding and half dead
was just outside
of Castle Thor.
I can only assume that's
where you met him.
Always so smart.
And so you know,
it was the same day I finished
the Deep Green Contract.
Feeling accomplished, I decided
to pay a visit to Castle Thor.
[footsteps tapping]
[dramatic music]
I knew from a single glance
he was going to be trouble.
Helck was incredibly strong.
He sprung several of the traps
I laid out for him,
but he didn't even take
a bit of damage.
I honestly thought I was
going to die in there.
Now it makes sense.
Even though you were
stripped of your powers,
I was sure no ordinary
human or monster
would ever be able
to take you.
You suffered those wounds
in a battle against
Helck I take it?
Yeah, no, I didn't.
Huh?
I might've sort of
gotten these wounds
from one of my own traps.
I miscalculated a jump,
and went straight into
my very own pitfall.
A blunder on my part.
You've got to be kidding me.
That was just the
start of my problems.
Then all of the sudden
the floor gave out on me,
and I landed in the middle
of a hoard of monsters.
After that,
a sandstorm kicked in
and when I regained
consciousness,
I was lying right here.
You're lucky you
made it out alive.
You got that right.
During the fight,
if Helck had chosen
to use anything close
to his full power,
then there's no doubt I would've
lost my very life that day.
[Vermilio sighs]
[Vermilio] After that,
Azudra came away
with a level of trust in Helck.
Helck may be different than
any human we've come across,
but I'm not sure
that's enough for us
to put our faith in him.
I can't shake the feeling
that he's keeping
something from us.
It's bothering me,
which pisses me off.
[Dorshe grunts]
[trapdoor clinks]
Hmm, it's all clear.
No bad guys.
[dramatic music]
Oh man, starting
to get all nervous!
Jesus, keep your
damn chattering down.
Oh, Kenros, sometimes
you can be such a dummy.
[Vermilio] So can you.
Now get down and hide!

And that one must be the leader.
[Dorshe] Hmm,
I'm only counting seven.
The others aren't around.
This might be our chance.
They're gonna see you,

I'm going to leave the
